Verbum reads Scripture aloud in the voices of its original languages — Hebrew, Koine Greek, Latin and Ge'ez — with word-by-word glosses and trilingual subtitles. Everything on this site is free, and will stay free. There is no account, no paywall, and no advertising.

Why this needs support

Each chapter is generated rather than filmed. A twenty-minute chapter takes about five hours of GPU time — the voice synthesis, the voice conversion, the lip-sync, the subtitles and the artwork background are all computed. The project currently runs on a single consumer graphics card, and Scripture runs to several thousand chapters.

Donations go toward the two things that actually limit output:

• Computing hardware — more capable GPUs mean more chapters per day, and make the longest books practical rather than prohibitive
• Running costs — electricity, storage and content delivery

What supporting does not buy

Nothing is held back for donors. There are no supporter-only videos, no early access, no removal of anything. If you give, it is because you want the reading of Scripture in its original languages to reach more people — not because you receive something in return.
