rather, I will do this in the time to come as well: 'Your face, O Lord, will I seek,' he says. Do not, then, thrust me away in my longing, nor deprive me of the One for whom I long.
1:1753
'Do not turn Your face away from me;'
1:1754
'and do not turn aside in anger from Your servant.' This he set down by a metaphor drawn from those who are angry, who turn away from those approaching them and try to bend their course into another road.
1:1755
「求你作我的幫助,不要棄絕我,也不要離棄我,神我的救主啊。」「不要棄絕我」這句話,其他譯者譯作「不要把我拋棄」;
'Be my helper, do not utterly reject me, and do not forsake me, O God my Saviour.' The phrase 'do not utterly reject me' the other translators rendered as 'do not cast me away;'
1:1756
but the Seventy formed this word from an outside custom of instruction.
1:1757
For 'to the ravens' was among the ancients a kind of insult, arising from a certain fable.
1:1758
'Give me Your law, O Lord, in Your way;'
1:1759
「引導我走平直的路。」代替「將你的律法賜給我」,亞居拉和狄奧多提翁作「光照我」;
'and guide me in a straight path.' Instead of 'give me Your law,' Aquila and Theodotion said 'enlighten me;'
1:1760
while Symmachus said, 'show me Your way.'
1:1761
Since, he says, I am compelled to dwell far from my own kinsmen, be Yourself both lawgiver and guide to me, showing me the path that leads to You.
1:1762
[ιβʹ.]
[v. 12] 'Do not hand me over to the souls of those who afflict me.' These words are the offspring of a humble spirit.
1:1763
For he says: I am indeed unworthy of salvation, yet, having in no way wronged those who now war against me, I am unjustly driven out.
1:1764
Do not, then, hand over the one wronged to those who do the wrong.
1:1765
'For unjust witnesses have risen up against me, and iniquity has lied to itself.' Aquila rendered this more clearly:
1:1766
'False witnesses stood against me, and the injustice was made manifest.'
1:1767
因為他說:他們用讒謗攻擊我,但藉著你的幫助,我從中絲毫未受損害;
For they, he says, employed slanders against me, but from this I received no harm at all, through Your help;
1:1768
rather it recoiled upon the unjust, and the arrows they shot against me turned back again against themselves.
1:1769
這說法是取自日常的慣用語;
This is taken from common usage;
1:1770
for we too are accustomed, concerning those who plot but do not harm, to say:
1:1771
[ ιγʹ.]
〔第十三節〕「我卻信在活人之地必得見耶和華的美善。」因為不僅在今生我要勝過我的仇敵;
[v. 13] 'But I believe that I shall see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living.' For not only in this present life shall I be superior to my enemies;
1:1772
我更要進入所盼望之美善的享受中;
but I shall also come to the enjoyment of the good things that are hoped for;
1:1773
then he offers an exhortation to all people.
1:1774
「你當等候耶和華。」這怎能作得到呢?「你當剛強壯膽,堅固你的心,並要等候耶和華。」他說:心思若以勇氣為兵器,藉此勝過那攻擊它的諸般情慾,便得堅固而得勝,並且等候那些屬神的應許,並與那同它一同勞苦的身體一同承受這些應許為業;
'Wait for the Lord.' And how might this be possible? 'Be of good courage, and let your heart be strengthened, and wait for the Lord.' The mind, he says, armed with courage and by this prevailing over the passions that assault it, is made strong and conquers, and awaits the divine promises, of which, together with the body that laboured with it, it becomes heir;
1:1775
and he calls the life that is hoped for the 'land of the living,' as separated from death and free from corruption and sorrow.
1:1776
藉著祈求呼求基督前來相助;
calling upon Christ through prayer for aid;
1:1777
and at the same time it contains a denunciation of the folly of the Jews and a prayer to be separated from their hand, or rather from their portion. 'To You, O Lord, will I cry; my God, do not keep silence toward me;'
1:1778
This psalm, and indeed the psalms before it, fit everyone who falls into such calamities.
1:1779
「我要呼求」這詞他所指的不是聲音,而是指懇切之心以及專一而殷勤的禱告;
The word 'I will cry' he set down not with reference to the voice, but with reference to eagerness and to intense and earnest prayer;
1:1780
and the phrase 'do not keep silence toward me' he took by a metaphor from those who are entreated by certain people and are unwilling to give any answer at all.
1:1781
因為他把這稱作「坑」;
For this he called a 'pit;'
1:1782
since the grave is dug in a manner resembling a pit.
1:1783
「耶和華啊,我呼求你、向你至聖的殿舉手之時,求你垂聽我懇求的聲音。」那時聖殿尚未建成;
'Hear, O Lord, the voice of my supplication, when I pray to You, when I lift up my hands toward Your holy temple.' The temple had not yet been built;
1:1784
but he names the tabernacle a 'temple,' in which he prayed, being far off in body but sending his mind thither.
1:1785
'Do not drag me away with sinners, and do not destroy me together with those who work iniquity, who speak peace with their neighbours,'
1:1786
For he says those are abominable who say one thing but purpose another.
1:1787
For this reason he wishes them to reap the wages befitting their deeds.
1:1788
'And give them according to the works of their hands;'
1:1789
「將他們所應得的報應加給他們。」不要有人以為義人是在咒詛他的仇敵;
'render to them their recompense.' Let no one suppose that the righteous man is cursing his enemies;
1:1790
for what is said is not a curse, but a just verdict.
1:1791
因為他說:「將他們所應得的報應加給他們」——就是願他們陷入自己所設、彼此互相編造的圈套裡;
For he says, 'render to them their recompense'—that is, may they fall into their own snares, which they weave against one another;
1:1792
this too is in the seventh psalm: 'His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his iniquity shall come down upon his own crown.' Then he teaches the cause of the punishment.
1:1793
'Because they did not understand the works of the Lord, nor the works of His hands.' These things, he says, they have done, being unwilling to learn either the divine word or the divine work.
1:1794
此外由此也顯明,他所說的前面那些話乃是預言性的,並非咒詛他們,而是預告將要發生的事;
And from this, moreover, it is clear that he uttered the foregoing words in a predictive manner, not cursing them, but foretelling what was to come;
1:1795
for he did not say 'tear down,' but 'You shall tear down, and You shall not build up.' Then again, having enjoyed the divine revelation and having beheld from afar the help that was to come, he moved his tongue to song.
1:1796
'Blessed be the Lord, because He has heard the voice of my supplication.'
1:1797
'The Lord is my helper and my defender.' And showing the reason for the swift aid, he added:
1:1798
'Because my heart hoped in Him, and I was helped, and my flesh has flourished again.' For my hope in Him became for me the procurer of this providential care.
1:1799
「我要甘心樂意地向他稱謝。」意思是:我向他獻上這頌讚不是出於勉強,而是出於甘願;
'And of my own will I will give thanks to Him.' That is: Not by constraint, but willingly, do I offer Him the hymn;
1:1800
so too he says elsewhere, 'I will willingly sacrifice to You,' and again, 'Accept, O Lord, the freewill offerings of my mouth.'
1:1801
For he calls himself 'Christ' as a king.
1:1802
For this name was common to kings, and to prophets, and to priests.
1:1803
'Save Your people, and bless Your inheritance, and shepherd them, and lift them up for ever.' Impart, therefore, he says, to Your people this blessing and salvation, directing and shepherding them, and rendering them superior to their enemies.
1:1804
為百姓代求也正合乎君王的身分;
And prayer on behalf of the people befits a king;
1:1805
因為他們曾與掃羅一同作戰;
for they were fighting alongside Saul;
1:1806
然而他仍為他們向神獻上懇求;
yet he offered supplication on their behalf to God;
1:1807
for he foresaw the change that was to come upon them, and looked not upon the injustice, but upon the servitude that was to be.
1:1808
「會幕出去之詩。」這標題我在六欄合參本中未曾找到,只在某些抄本中見到;
'of the going forth of the tabernacle.' Neither did I find this superscription in the Hexapla, but in certain copies;
1:1809
and the words of the psalm contain no such sense.
1:1810
For the psalm foretells other things.
1:1811
一種意思適用於希西家王,另一種則適用於我們眾人的君王,就是那位廢除偶像的迷惑、以認識神之光輝照亮普世的那一位;
the one fitting Hezekiah the king, the other fitting the King of us all, who, having dissolved the error of the idols, illumined the whole inhabited world with the rays of the knowledge of God;
1:1812
and I shall speak briefly of the prophecy concerning Hezekiah, but at greater length of that concerning ourselves, as being more pertinent to us.
1:1813
The admirable Hezekiah, prevailing over the Assyrians and exulting in the marvel of the victory, exhorts the people to requite God with sacrifices, to offer Him hymns and doxology, and to perform in His holy court the appointed worship.
1:1814
Since the temple was inaccessible to the many, and there it was entered by the priests alone.
1:1815
接著他教導這些事的緣由,指出那從神而來擊打亞述人的災禍,同時提到聲音與雷轟;
Then he teaches the cause of these things, pointing to the God-sent stroke against the Assyrians, making mention at once of both voice and thunder;
1:1816
並且以比喻的方式,把仇敵的眾多稱為「大水的洶湧」;
and figuratively naming the multitude of the enemies a 'multitude of waters;'
1:1817
隨後他又稱他們為「香柏樹」,藉此顯明他們的高大與稠密;
then again he calls them 'cedars,' thereby indicating their loftiness and density;
1:1818
他說這些都被折斷了,而那蒙愛的百姓則被比作野牛的幼犢;
and he says that these were shattered, while the beloved people was likened to the young of the unicorns;
1:1819
inasmuch as they worshipped one God, and through Him destroyed the many myriads of the enemies who came against them.
1:1820
But indeed, he says, like a flame He cut them asunder and scattered them, and shook the wilderness-array of God, and stripped bare the region resembling a thicket—so called because of the density of those encamped in it—of those who had lodged there.
1:1821
But us who have received the fear of the stags He has thoroughly equipped, and He has made us to remain rather than to flee.
1:1822
For this very reason it is right that all should run together in the temple, and offer to Him the recompense of hymns.
1:1823
For having freed us from these things, He will also enable us to rebuild and inhabit anew what lies outside the enclosures, that which had been ruined by the enemies and, as it were, overwhelmed by a flood.
1:1824
For we shall easily accomplish all things, since we have the eternal King, who has both given us the power to prevail and has bestowed peace upon us.
1:1825
That the psalm before us was spoken concerning the blessed Hezekiah, the interpretation has already made clear.
1:1826
But since the old is a type of the new, come, let us set the body beside the shadow and demonstrate their likeness.
1:1827
在那裏是一位敬虔的君王,在這裏卻是基督,那敬虔的教師;
There a pious king, and here Christ, the teacher of piety;
1:1828
在那裏是順服他的百姓,在這裏卻是被祂所拯救的百姓;
there a people obedient to him, and here a people saved by Him;
1:1829
an uprising and a dissolution.
1:1830
The grace of the Spirit therefore exhorts the holy apostles to preach salvation to the nations, and to offer those who obey unto God.
1:1831
因祂稱眾使徒為神的兒子,因他們得稱為基督的弟兄;
For He calls the apostles sons of God, inasmuch as they were named brothers of Christ;
1:1832
for He says, 'Tell my brethren that I go before you into Galilee.'
1:1833
And He calls those from among the nations who have believed 'sons of rams,' inasmuch indeed as they had sprung from irrational fathers.
1:1834
'Bring unto the Lord, O ye sons of God, bring unto the Lord the sons of rams.'
1:1835
[2] 'Bring unto the Lord glory and honour;'
1:1836
'bring unto the Lord glory to His name;'
1:1837
「當在耶和華聖潔的院宇中敬拜祂。」祂說,你們這些受託傳揚神聖信息、並被稱為神兒子的人哪,要以全然的熱忱將這神聖的宣講傳遍各處,使那些在無知中受養育的人成為有理性的,並將這些人首先獻與神;
'worship the Lord in His holy court.' You, He says, who have been entrusted with the divine proclamation and have been called sons of God, convey the divine proclamation everywhere with all eagerness, and make rational those who were nurtured in irrationality, and offer these first unto God;
1:1838
then through these offer worship and hymns, honouring the Benefactor in the divine houses.
1:1839
These words resemble also those spoken by the Saviour to the holy apostles:
1:1840
'Go, make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit;'
1:1841
and indeed the psalm, after the aforesaid words, straightway called to mind the sacred waters.
1:1842
'The voice of the Lord is upon the waters;'
1:1843
'the God of glory thundered.' The word foretells the voice that was borne from heaven at the Jordan:
1:1844
「這是我的愛子,我所喜悅的。」它稱這聲音為雷,因為它藉着神聖的福音書傳遍了普天下;
'This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.' And it called this a thunder, inasmuch as it ran throughout the whole inhabited world by means of the holy Gospels;
1:1845
in this way too it called the pair of the apostles 'sons of thunder,' on account of the surpassing and divine voice of their theology.
1:1846
'The Lord upon many waters.' For not the Jordan alone received that grace, but in all the earth and sea the mystery of baptism is accomplished, the divine invocation sanctifying the nature of the waters.
1:1847
From here it foretells the power that was bestowed upon the apostles.
1:1848
'the voice of the Lord in magnificence.' The history of the Acts also teaches us things in harmony with these.
1:1849
'Wait in this city until you be clothed with power from on high.' And after ten days, at the feast of Pentecost, 'There came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the house where they were sitting;'
1:1850
'and there appeared unto them cloven tongues as of fire, and it sat upon each one of them.' And by 'voice' it means the grace of the Spirit, which filled the apostles with strength and power, and rendered the lowly ones magnificent.
1:1851
Then it shows what things they accomplished, being strengthened by this voice.
1:1852
'The voice of the Lord that breaks the cedars, and the Lord shall break the cedars of Lebanon.' And by these words it signifies the destruction of the idols.
1:1853
For since of old the precincts of the idols were lofty, yet yielded no fruit to those who worshipped them, He likened these to the cedars of Lebanon, which are indeed lofty, but by nature bear no edible fruit.
1:1854
「祂要將它們磨碎,如同黎巴嫩的牛犢。」祂也常將耶路撒冷稱為「黎巴嫩」;
'And He shall grind them small, like the calf of Lebanon.' And He often names Jerusalem also 'Lebanon;'
1:1855
for 'They made,' He says, 'a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the graven image.' But Moses the lawgiver ground that one down and pulverized it.
1:1856
因此祂說,照樣,普天下一切的偶像也必同樣被磨碎、化為烏有;
So then He says that in like manner all the idols of the inhabited world shall likewise be ground small and shall vanish away;
1:1857
'And the beloved is as the son of the unicorns.' But the people that has believed, and has been delivered from that error, and is on this account called beloved, shall be unconquerable and unassailable, inasmuch as it has been freed from polytheism and reveres the one Godhead.
1:1858
it was illuminated, but not consumed.
1:1859
而在來世,那火雙重的作為將被分開:它要光照那些美德的勇士,卻要焚燒那些惡行的愛慕者;
And in the life to come the twofold energy of the fire, being divided, shall illuminate the athletes of virtue, but shall burn up the lovers of vice;
1:1860
for which reason indeed the punishment of the lawless is called both fire and darkness, since the illuminating energy does not appear there.
1:1861
「耶和華的聲音震動曠野,耶和華要震動加低斯的曠野。」但西馬庫斯不作「震動」,而作「使之生產」;
'The voice of the Lord that shakes the wilderness, and the Lord shall shake the wilderness of Kadesh.' But Symmachus said not 'that shakes,' but 'that brings to birth;'
1:1862
and indeed Aquila too said 'that travails in birth.'
1:1863
以賽亞也論到這曠野而預言;
And concerning this wilderness Isaiah also foretells;
1:1864
'Rejoice,' he says, 'O thirsty wilderness;'
1:1865
'let the wilderness be glad, and blossom as the lily.' And by 'wilderness' he names the nations, as having of old become bereft of God.
1:1866
Such too is that which is set down elsewhere in Isaiah:
1:1867
'Rejoice, O barren, thou that bearest not;'
1:1868
'break forth and cry aloud, thou that travailest not;'
1:1869
而那震動乃是表明神的顯現;
and the shaking signifies the manifestation of God;
1:1870
for this is what 'Kadesh' is interpreted to mean.
1:1871
「耶和華的聲音使母鹿完備,並顯露叢林。」母鹿的本性是藐視那些爬行的野獸;
'The voice of the Lord that perfects the stags, and shall uncover the thickets.' It is the nature of stags to despise the creeping beasts;
1:1872
而那先知的話語預言了此事;
and the prophetic word foretold this;
1:1873
'The voice of the Lord that perfects the stags, and shall uncover the thickets.' For this indeed is the marvel, that by means of stags He worsted the multitude of manifold beasts, and by means of the unlettered He refuted the barrenness of the philosophers, and by means of fishermen He dissolved the tyranny of the devil.
1:1874
for such are those coppices, or thickets, which the best husbandmen are wont to cut down, and, laying bare the land that was overrun by them, plant fruit-bearing trees and cast in edible seeds.
1:1875
普天下的農夫也照樣行了;
This too the farmers of the inhabited world have done;
1:1876
for having torn up the precincts of the idols by the roots, they planted in their stead the divine Churches.
1:1877
'The Lord shall cause the flood to dwell, and the Lord shall sit as King forever.' For He shall build up the inhabited world that had been sunk beneath the torrent of lawlessness, and shall renew it, and shall work a new creation.
1:1878
「耶和華必賜力量給祂的百姓」,就是在爭戰的時候;
'The Lord shall give strength to His people,' that is, in the time of war;
1:1879
'and He shall bless His people with peace,' having brought the long war to an end.
1:1880
因此,祂以「殿的奉獻」稱那人性的更新;
By 'dedication of a house' then He calls the renewal of human nature;
1:1881
death, and having dissolved death, and having given us the hopes of the resurrection.
1:1882
And this same Psalm was spoken also concerning the blessed Hezekiah.
1:1883
For after the destruction of the Assyrians, and his deliverance from sickness, he celebrated, as was fitting, a most great feast, confessing thanks to God, because He had bestowed salvation upon them, and had freed His holy temple from the fire of the enemies.
1:1884
Since then the things being celebrated resembled a festival of dedication, it fittingly received this inscription as well.
1:1885
One must know, however, that it fits Hezekiah according to the type, but the whole nature of mankind according to the very truth.
1:1886
For just as he, having admitted a lofty pride —
1:1887
for this the history of Chronicles has taught —
1:1888
領受了死亡的判決,卻藉神聖的恩典得着了生命;
received the sentence of death, but by divine grace obtained life;
1:1889
照樣,那始祖亞當,指望要成為神,並向造他的主存了狂妄的心,就被交付於死亡;
so too Adam the forefather, expecting to become God, and thinking great things against his Maker, was delivered over to death;
1:1890
but by the divine love for mankind he obtained the resurrection.
1:1891
'I will exalt Thee, O Lord, for Thou hast upheld me.'
1:1892
'O Lord my God, I cried unto Thee, and Thou hast healed me.'
1:1893
'O Lord, Thou hast brought up my soul from Hades.'
1:1894
'Thou hast saved me from among them that go down into the pit.' These words we hear as spoken by human nature giving its account.
1:1895
The phrase, however, 'I cried unto Thee, and Thou hast healed me,' fits Hezekiah according to the obvious sense, but no longer fits human nature.
1:1896
因為人性既沒有向神懇求,也沒有尋求脫離朽壞的自由;
For human nature neither besought God nor sought deliverance from corruption;
1:1897
but it continued giving itself over to laments and wailings, beholding death while not awaiting the resurrection.
1:1898
The tears therefore, and the laments made over the sick and the dying, He has reckoned in place of prayer, thereby displaying the unspeakable loving-kindness of God: that even though not called upon, but merely seeing the lamentations, He took pity on what was happening and loosed death.
1:1899
And here again He has called death a pit.
1:1900
'Sing unto the Lord, ye His holy ones, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.'
1:1901
'For there is wrath in His indignation,'
1:1902
「在祂的美意中有生命。」祂把讚美和對恩典的稱謝分派給聖民,實在恰當;
'and life in His good pleasure.' Fittingly He assigns the hymn to the holy ones, and the confession of grace;
1:1903
for since He gave to all men the gift of the resurrection, yet not all are worthy of the grace, He suitably consecrates the worthy for the hymns.
1:1904
而祂所作的另一項區分也極為精妙;
And He has made the further division excellently too;
1:1905
因為祂把「怒氣」歸於祂的「忿怒」;
for the wrath He assigned to His indignation;
1:1906
因為祂以「怒氣」稱呼管教;
for by 'wrath' He calls chastening;
1:1907
而「生命」祂則歸於祂的旨意;
but life He assigned to His will;
1:1908
for this indeed He wills, not that.
1:1909
For that other we bring upon ourselves.
1:1910
'For God,' it says, 'made not death, neither hath He pleasure in the destruction of the living;'
1:1911
'for He created all things that they might have being, and the generations of the world are for salvation.' And we hear Him also speaking through the prophet Ezekiel:
1:1912
'Do I at all desire the death of the sinner, rather than that he should turn from his way and live?' – 'Weeping shall lodge for the evening;'
1:1913
'and in the morning, rejoicing.' And this happened thus both in the case of Hezekiah and in that of the common salvation.
1:1914
For the Assyrians, having employed those threats and having moved the city to weeping, received the blow by night, and at dawn those whom they had forced to weep they filled with good cheer.
1:1915
神聖的以賽亞晚上把死亡的判決帶給希西家,到了清晨卻又給他帶來生命的佳音;
And the divine Isaiah, having brought Hezekiah the sentence of death in the evening, at dawn brought him again the good tidings of life;
1:1916
so it came to pass also in the case of the common salvation.
1:1917
For while the holy apostles and those who had believed together with them were lamenting the Lord's Passion, the women came at dawn, bringing the joy of the resurrection.
1:1918
「至於我,在我興盛的時候曾說:我永不動搖。」這話亞當在受騙以前住在樂園中時也曾指望過,希西家在戰勝亞述人之後也是如此;
'But I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved for ever.' This too Adam had hoped, while he dwelt as a citizen in Paradise before the deception, and Hezekiah likewise, when he had conquered the Assyrian;
1:1919
and this the book of Chronicles teaches clearly, saying that the heart of Hezekiah the king was lifted up.
1:1920
'O Lord, in Thy good pleasure Thou didst give power unto my beauty;'
1:1921
「我卻變得驚惶了。」這些話同樣既適用於希西家,也適用於全人類的本性;
'but I became troubled.' These words likewise fit both Hezekiah and the whole nature of men;
1:1922
因為那人因著德行得享神的眷顧,勝過了亞述人;
for that man, on account of his virtue, enjoyed the divine providence and prevailed over the Assyrians;
1:1923
後來又被剝去神的恩典,便陷入疾病,遭受死亡的恐懼;
and again, being stripped of the divine grace, he fell into sickness and received the terror of death;
1:1924
亞當在樂園中也曾以德行之美為裝飾,超乎朽壞之上;
and Adam too in Paradise was adorned with the beauty of virtue and was superior to corruption;
1:1925
but being stripped of the divine providence because of the transgression, he endured the tempest that comes from this life.
1:1926
西馬庫斯把這意思表達得極為清楚;
And this Symmachus has set forth very clearly;
1:1927
'O Lord, in Thy favour Thou didst establish might for my forefather.'
1:1928
'Unto Thee, O Lord, will I cry, and unto my God will I make supplication.'
1:1929
「我被害流血,下到朽壞之中,有甚麼益處呢?塵土豈能稱謝祢,傳揚祢的信實嗎?」這些話蒙福的希西家也曾用過,正如《列王紀》第四卷的記載,以及至聖的以賽亞的預言所教訓的;
'What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to corruption? Shall dust give thanks unto Thee, or declare Thy truth?' These words the blessed Hezekiah also used, as both the fourth book of Kingdoms narrates in its history and the prophecy of the most divine Isaiah teaches;
1:1930
for they that are dissolved into dust and ashes, and have lost their bodily function, how could they be able to sing Thy benefactions? (verses 11–13)
1:1931
'The Lord heard, and had mercy upon me; the Lord became my helper.'
1:1932
'Thou hast turned my mourning into joy for me.'
1:1933
「好叫我的榮耀歌頌祢,不致刺痛哀慟。」希西家腰束麻布,向神獻上抵擋亞述人的禱告;
'That my glory may sing unto Thee, and I be not pierced with compunction.' And Hezekiah, girding himself with sackcloth, offered to God his prayer against the Assyrians;
1:1934
and human nature had clothed itself in the garb of mourning.
1:1935
如今也有些愚昧人,為死者哀哭,可憐地坐在麻布上,卻不肯留意那明明呼喊的先知之言;
And now too some of the senseless, lamenting the dead and sitting wretchedly upon sackcloth, are unwilling to give heed to the prophetic words that cry out plainly;
1:1936
But the phrase, 'That my glory may sing unto Thee, and I be not pierced with compunction,' Symmachus has thus rendered:
1:1937
'That glory may sing Thee, and not fall silent;'
1:1938
that is to say, It is fitting that on account of this benefaction they who have obtained so great a glory should continually sing and hymn Thee, keeping silent at no time.
1:1939
And compunction too produces silence.
1:1940
所以七十士譯本以「哀慟」代替「緘默」;
The Seventy therefore have put 'compunction' in place of 'silence';
1:1941
希西家得了榮耀,因為為他的緣故有數萬人遭受了從天而降的打擊,甚至日頭也倒退了行程;
and glory Hezekiah obtained, when so many myriads received on his account a heaven-sent blow, and indeed when the sun turned back its course;
1:1942
and we too have occasion for great renown, since the God of all has shown so great a tender love toward us.
1:1943
'For God so loved the world,' it says, 'that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.'
1:1944
'O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto Thee for ever.' For not only in the present life, but also after the resurrection, will I offer Thee hymns, continually recounting Thy transcendent and ineffable gifts.
1:1945
It seems to me that he hints also at the matter of Uriah.
1:1946
For he says in this very psalm:
1:1947
'But I said in my ecstasy, I am cast out from before Thine eyes;' that is, I thought that, having sinned, I was stripped of Thy providence.
1:1948
and this the interpretation of the words teaches more clearly.
1:1949
「求祢叫我永不蒙羞。」他說:罪使我被許多羞恥所籠罩;
'let me never be put to shame.' Sin, he says, has clothed me about with much shame;
1:1950
but I entreat that it may not remain upon me for long, on account of the confidence I have placed in Thee.
1:1951
「憑祢的公義搭救我,救拔我。」他說:求祢不要看我的罪,只看那逼迫我之人的不法;
'In Thy righteousness deliver me, and rescue me.' Look not, he says, upon my sin, but upon the lawlessness of them that persecute me;
1:1952
for by employing this just verdict, Thou wilt free me from the calamities that press upon me.
1:1953
'Incline Thine ear unto me;'
1:1954
'make haste to rescue me.' Having heard my supplication, grant Thy swift help.
1:1955
'Be Thou unto me a God, a protector, and a house of refuge, to save me.'
1:1956
[δʹ.]
[Section 4.] 'For Thou art my strength and my refuge.' These things he said also in the seventeenth psalm, indicating the all-embracing care of God.
1:1957
And the phrase 'my strength,' Aquila and Symmachus rendered 'my rock.'
1:1958
The prophetic word seems to agree with the evangelic, which points to the prudent man who built his house upon the rock, which neither the assault of winds nor of rains and rivers, by reason of its firmness, could damage.
1:1959
'And for Thy name's sake Thou wilt guide me and sustain me.' The word 'sustain' Symmachus has rendered 'Thou wilt tend me.'
1:1960
And he says that Thou wilt count me worthy of every kind of providence, for the sake of Thy name in which I have trusted.
1:1961
For he did not ask to obtain the divine help on account of his own virtue, but for the sake of the name of God, and the righteousness of God, and because he had set his hope upon Him.
1:1962
'Thou shalt bring me out of this snare, which they have hidden for me;' —
1:1963
'for Thou art my defender, O Lord.' By these words he made known the counsel of Ahithophel, which he had introduced against him, as we have already said before.
1:1964
「我將我的靈交在你手裡;耶和華、信實的神啊,你救贖了我。」我屢次陷入許多災難之中,卻藉著你的扶助得以脫離;
'Into Thy hands I will commit my spirit; Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, God of truth.' Often having fallen into many calamities, I was set free from them by Thy inclining favour;
1:1965
and for this reason I commit my own soul to Thy providence.
1:1966
For here again he names God's providence 'hands.'
1:1967
「凡持守虛妄之事、徒然無益的人,你都恨惡。」他說,這些人並不倚靠你,反倒依從他們自己虛妄的思念;
'Thou hast hated all those who cling to vanities in vain.' These men, he says, have not put their trust in Thee, but have relied on their own vain reasonings;
1:1968
and Thou art wont utterly to turn away from such as these.
1:1969
'But as for me, I have hoped in the Lord.'
1:1970
[ ηʹ.]
[8.] 'I will exult and be glad in Thy mercy.' For even when I am amid calamities I call upon Thy help, and enjoying it, I ascribe the cause of good things to Thy love for mankind.
1:1971
'For Thou hast regarded my lowliness; Thou hast saved my soul out of distresses.'
1:1972
[θʹ.]
[9.] 'And Thou hast not shut me up into the hands of enemies;'
1:1973
「你使我的腳站在寬闊之地。」我持守這些思念時也從未失誤;
'Thou hast set my feet in a broad place.' Nor did I ever err when I used these reasonings;
1:1974
因為我屢次落入仇敵的埋伏與陷阱,甚至進到那為我張設的網羅之中,卻仍脫離了那些追捕我的人;
for often having fallen into ambushes of enemies and into snares, and having come within the nets that were spread out for me, I escaped those who hunted me;
1:1975
and at another time I escaped the Gittites, having feigned madness.
1:1976
'Have mercy upon me, O Lord, for I am in tribulation;'
1:1977
'my eye is troubled with wrath, my soul and my belly.' Symmachus rendered this thus:
1:1978
'My eye was made turbid because of provocation.'
1:1979
'For having provoked Thee by my sin, I am compelled to weep unceasingly;'
1:1980
'and indeed my soul also is filled with storm and turmoil.'
1:1981
在這裡,他以「腹」稱那藏納思念的府庫;
And here by 'belly' he called the storehouse of the reasonings;
1:1982
for it was the reasonings, and not the belly, that were troubled.
1:1983
'For my life has failed in pain, and my years in groanings.' All my life, he says, I have spent in pains and tears.
1:1984
'My strength has weakened in poverty, and my bones are troubled.' And want too, and the scarcity of necessities, wasted away my body.
1:1985
And of this want the history too makes mention, and says:
1:1986
'I became a reproach beyond all my enemies, and exceedingly so to my neighbours, and a terror to my acquaintances.' My enemies, he says, are in good cheer, but I am a laughing-stock, an object of malicious joy to those who border upon me, and an object of dread to those who know me.
1:1987
And teaching this more clearly he added:
1:1988
'I was forgotten as one dead, out of mind; I became like a lost vessel.' They all despaired of me, he says, treating me as a lost vessel and as a dead man dwelling in a tomb.
1:1989
﹝他藉著器皿的卑賤,顯明那被遺忘的極致;
[He showed the excess of the forgetting by way of the dishonour of the vessel;
1:1990
for just as, he says, that vessel, when it is lost, is quickly banished from the memory of those who lost it because of its worthlessness, so also I was reckoned by them as being nothing, and as never having once been worthy of any account.] 14.
1:1991
'For I heard the reviling of many that dwelt round about.' And these things I say not by conjecture, but having received the reproaches with my own ears.
1:1992
And by these words he signifies also the revilings of Shimei.
1:1993
'When they gathered together against me, they took counsel to take my life.'
1:1994
[ιεʹ, ι ʹ.]
[15, 16.] 'But as for me, I have hoped in Thee, O Lord;'
1:1995
'My lots are in Thy hands.' They indeed, having gathered together, are contriving my death, but I know Thee as God and Ruler.
1:1996
'My lots are in Thy hands,' or, as the rest have it, 'My times are in Thy hands,' that is to say, Thou dost apportion to each as Thou wilt both despondency and gladness, and Thou dost again change these according to Thy good pleasure.
1:1997
For by 'times,' or 'lots,' he calls the changes of circumstances—wealth and poverty, slavery and lordship, peace and war, and other such things likewise.
1:1998
'Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.' Then he shows also the manner of the deliverance.
1:1999
'Make Thy face to shine upon Thy servant;'
1:2000
'save me in Thy mercy.' For when Thy manifestation has come to me, my sorrows shall straightway be dissolved.
1:2001
'O Lord, let me not be put to shame, for I have called upon Thee; let the ungodly be put to shame, and be brought down into Hades.' And from this we learn that sin has a great difference from ungodliness.
