Dies irae, dies illa solvet saeclum in favilla: teste David cum Sibylla. Quantus tremor est futurus, quando judex est venturus, cuncta stricte discussurus! Tuba mirum spargens sonum per sepulcra regionum, coget omnes ante thronum. Mors stupebit et natura, cum resurget creatura, judicanti responsura. Liber scriptus proferetur, in quo totum continetur, unde mundus judicetur. Judex ergo cum sedebit, quidquid latet apparebit: nil inultum remanebit. Quid sum miser tunc dicturus? Quem patronum rogaturus, cum vix justus sit securus? Rex tremendae majestatis, qui salvandos salvas gratis, salva me fons pietatis. Recordare, Jesu pie, quod sum causa tuae viae: ne me perdas illa die.
震怒之日，那日將把世界化為灰燼：正如大衛與西比拉所見證的。當審判者來臨、嚴格清算萬事之時，那將有何等的戰慄！號筒透過各地的墳塋發出奇異之聲，召聚眾人來到寶座之前。當受造之物復活、要向審判者交代之時，死亡與自然都要驚駭。一卷書冊將被展開，其中包含一切，世界要照之受審。因此當審判者就座時，凡隱藏的都要顯露：沒有甚麼能不受報應。那時我這可憐人要說甚麼？我要求誰來為我辯護，當連義人也幾乎難保平安之時？可畏威嚴的君王啊，你白白拯救那當得救的人，求你拯救我，慈憐的泉源。求你記念，慈悲的耶穌，我是你此行的緣由：求你不要使我在那日喪亡。
Day of wrath, that day shall dissolve the world into ashes: as David testifies with the Sibyl. How great a trembling there shall be, when the Judge shall come, to weigh all things strictly! The trumpet, scattering its wondrous sound through the tombs of every land, shall gather all before the throne. Death and nature shall be stunned, when creation rises again to answer to its Judge. A written book shall be brought forth, in which all is contained, whereby the world shall be judged. When therefore the Judge takes his seat, whatever lies hidden shall appear: nothing shall remain unavenged. What then shall I, wretched, say? Whom shall I ask to plead for me, when scarcely the righteous is secure? King of dread majesty, who freely savest those to be saved, save me, O fount of mercy. Remember, gentle Jesus, that I am the cause of thy journey: let me not be lost on that day.

Quaerens me, sedisti lassus: redemisti Crucem passus: tantus labor non sit cassus. Juste judex ultionis, donum fac remissionis ante diem rationis. Ingemisco, tamquam reus: culpa rubet vultus meus: supplicanti parce, Deus. Qui Mariam absolvisti, et latronem exaudisti, mihi quoque spem dedisti. Preces meae non sunt dignae: sed tu bonus fac benigne, ne perenni cremer igne. Inter oves locum praesta, et ab haedis me sequestra, statuens in parte dextra. Confutatis maledictis, flammis acribus addictis: voca me cum benedictis. Oro supplex et acclinis, cor contritum quasi cinis: gere curam mei finis. Lacrimosa dies illa, qua resurget ex favilla judicandus homo reus. Huic ergo parce, Deus:
為了尋找我，你疲乏而坐：為了救贖我，你受了十字架之苦：願這般辛勞不致徒然。施行報應的公義審判者啊，求你在清算之日以前賜下赦免之恩。我發出歎息，如同罪人：我的臉因罪而羞紅：神啊，求你寬待向你祈求的人。你曾赦免了馬利亞，又垂聽了那強盜，也賜給了我盼望。我的祈禱本不配蒙允：但你既是良善的，求你慈悲恩待，免得我在永火中焚燒。求你使我得居綿羊之中，把我與山羊分開，安置我在你右邊。當受咒詛者被定罪、被交付烈焰之時，求你召我與蒙福者同在。我俯伏祈求，我心痛悔如灰：求你顧念我的終局。那日將是哀哭之日，那時有罪之人要從灰燼中復起受審。因此神啊，求你寬待他：
Seeking me, thou didst sit weary: thou didst redeem me, suffering the Cross: let such toil not be in vain. Just Judge of vengeance, grant the gift of remission before the day of reckoning. I groan, like one guilty: my face blushes with guilt: spare thy suppliant, O God. Thou who didst absolve Mary, and didst hear the thief, hast given hope to me also. My prayers are not worthy: but thou, who art good, deal graciously, lest I burn in everlasting fire. Grant me a place among the sheep, and set me apart from the goats, placing me at thy right hand. When the accursed are confounded, consigned to the bitter flames, call me with the blessed. I pray, suppliant and bowed down, my heart contrite as ashes: take thou care for my end. That day shall be one of weeping, when from the ashes shall rise the guilty man to be judged. Therefore spare him, O God:
