25:1
Φῆστος οὖν ἐπιβὰς τῇ ἐπαρχείῳ μετὰ τρεῖς ἡμέρας ἀνέβη εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ἀπὸ Καισαρίας,
Festus ergo cum venisset in provinciam, post triduum ascendit Jerosolymam a Caesarea.
ወበጺሖ ፊስጦስ ቂሳርያ ጐንደየ ሠሉሰ መዋዕለ ወእምዝ ዐርገ ኢየሩሳሌም።
Festus therefore, having come into the province, after three days went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.
25:2
ἐνεφάνισάν τε αὐτῷ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ πρῶτοι τῶν Ἰουδαίων κατὰ τοῦ Παύλου, καὶ παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν
Adieruntque eum principes sacerdotum et primi Judaeorum adversus Paulum : et rogabant eum,
ወዖድዎ ሊቃነ ካህናት ወዐበይተ አይሁድ ወነገርዎ በእንተ ጳውሎስ።
Then the high priest and the principal men of the Jews informed him against Paul, and they begged him,
25:3
αἰτούμενοι χάριν κατ’ αὐτοῦ ὅπως μεταπέμψηται αὐτὸν εἰς Ἱερουσαλήμ, ἐνέδραν ποιοῦντες ἀνελεῖν αὐτὸν κατὰ τὴν ὁδόν.
postulantes gratiam adversus eum, ut juberet perduci eum in Jerusalem, insidias tendentes ut interficerent eum in via.
ወሰአልዎ ከመ ይጸግዎሙ ወከመ ይልአክ ያምጽእዎ ለዐውድ ዘኢየሩሳሌም ወእሙቱሰ ፈቀዱ ከመ ይሑሩ ህየ ወበፍኖት ይቅትልዎ።
asking a favor against him, that he would summon him to Jerusalem, plotting to kill him on the way.
25:4
ὁ μὲν οὖν Φῆστος ἀπεκρίθη τηρεῖσθαι τὸν Παῦλον εἰς Καισάριαν, ἑαυτὸν δὲ μέλλειν ἐν τάχει ἐκπορεύεσθαι·
Festus autem respondit servari Paulum in Caesarea : se autem maturius profecturum.
ወአውሥኦሙ ከመ የዐቅብዎ ለጳውሎስ በቂሳርያ ወከመ የሐውር ለሊሁ ፍጡነ ህየ።
However Festus answered that Paul should be kept in custody at Caesarea, and that he himself was about to depart shortly.
25:5
οἱ οὖν ἐν ὑμῖν, φησίν, δυνατοὶ συνκαταβάντες εἴ τί ἐστιν ἐν τῷ ἀνδρὶ ἄτοπον κατηγορείτωσαν αὐτοῦ.
Qui ergo in vobis, ait, potentes sunt, descendentes simul, si quod est in viro crimen, accusent eum.
ወይቤሎሙ ለአይሁድ እለ ትክሉ እምውስቴትክሙ ረዱ ትትዋቀሡ ምስለ ውእቱ ብእሲ ዘአስተዋደይክምዎ።
“Let them therefore”, he said, “that are in power among you go down with me, and if there is anything wrong in the man, let them accuse him.”
25:6
διατρίψας δὲ ἐν αὐτοῖς ἡμέρας οὐ πλείους ὀκτὼ ἢ δέκα, καταβὰς εἰς Καισάριαν, τῇ ἐπαύριον καθίσας ἐπὶ τοῦ βήματος ἐκέλευσεν τὸν Παῦλον ἀχθῆναι.
Demoratus autem inter eos dies non amplius quam octo aut decem, descendit Caesaream, et altera die sedit pro tribunali, et jussit Paulum adduci.
ወነቢሮ ኀቤሆሙ ሰሙነ መዋዕለ አው ዐሡረ ወረደ ቂሳርያ ወበሳኒታ ነበረ ዐውደ ወአዘዘ ያምጽእዎ ለጳውሎስ።
When he had stayed among them more than ten days, he went down to Caesarea, and on the next day he sat on the judgment seat, and commanded Paul to be brought.
25:7
παραγενομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ περιέστησαν αὐτὸν οἱ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων καταβεβηκότες Ἰουδαῖοι, πολλὰ καὶ βαρέα αἰτιώματα καταφέροντες ἃ οὐκ ἴσχυον ἀποδεῖξαι,
Qui cum perductus esset, circumsteterunt eum, qui ab Jerosolyma descenderant Judaei, multas et graves causas objicientes, quas non poterant probare :
ወቀሪቦ ጳውሎስ አስተዋደይዎ አይሁድ እለ ወረዱ እምኢየሩሳሌም ብዙኀ ጌጋየ ወክቡደ በዘኢይክሉ አብጽሖቶ።
When he had come, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing against him many and grievous charges which they could not prove,
25:8
τοῦ Παύλου ἀπολογουμένου ὅτι οὔτε εἰς τὸν νόμον τῶν Ἰουδαίων οὔτε εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν οὔτε εἰς Καίσαρά τι ἥμαρτον.
Paulo rationem reddente : Quoniam neque in legem Judaeorum, neque in templum, neque in Caesarem quidquam peccavi.
ወእንዘ ይወቅሥ ሎሙ ጳውሎስ ወይብል አልቦ ዘአበስኩ ላዕለ ኦሪቶሙ ለአይሁድ ወኢዲበ ምኵራቦሙ ወኢለነጋሢ።
while he said in his defense, “Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar, have I sinned at all.”
25:9
ὁ Φῆστος δὲ θέλων τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις χάριν καταθέσθαι ἀποκριθεὶς τῷ Παύλῳ εἶπεν, θέλεις εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ἀναβὰς ἐκεῖ περὶ τούτων κριθῆναι ἐπ’ ἐμοῦ;
Festus autem volens gratiam praestare Judaeis, respondens Paulo, dixit : Vis Jerosolymam ascendere, et ibi de his judicari apud me ?
ወፈቀደ ፊስጦስ ያእኵትዎ አይሁድ ወይቤሎ ለጳውሎስ ትፈቅድኑ ትዕርግ ኢየሩሳሌም ወበህየ ትትዋቀሥ አው በኀቤየ።
But Festus, desiring to gain favor with the Jews, answered Paul and said, “Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and be judged by me there concerning these things?”
25:10
εἶπεν δὲ ὁ Παῦλος· ἑστὼς ἐπὶ τοῦ βήματος Καίσαρός εἰμι, οὗ με δεῖ κρίνεσθαι. Ἰουδαίους οὐδὲν ἠδίκηκα, ὡς καὶ σὺ κάλλιον ἐπιγινώσκεις.
Dixit autem Paulus : Ad tribunal Caesaris sto : ibi me oportet judicari : Judaeis non nocui, sicut tu melius nosti.
ወአውሥአ ጳውሎስ ወይቤሎ አንሰ እቀውም ቅድመ መንበረ ቄሣር ወበህየ ይደሉ ሊተ ፍትሕ ወለሊከ ተአምር እምነ ኵሉ ሰብእ ከመ አልብየ ዘአበስኩ ላዕለ አይሁድ።
But Paul said, “I am standing before Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be tried. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as you also know very well.
25:11
εἰ μὲν οὖν ἀδικῶ καὶ ἄξιον θανάτου πέπραχά τι, οὐ παραιτοῦμαι τὸ ἀποθανεῖν· εἰ δὲ οὐδέν ἐστιν ὧν οὗτοι κατηγοροῦσίν μου, οὐδείς με δύναται αὐτοῖς χαρίσασθαι· Καίσαρα ἐπικαλοῦμαι.
Si enim nocui, aut dignum morte aliquid feci, non recuso mori : si vero nihil est eorum quae hi accusant me, nemo potest me illis donare. Caesarem appello.
ወእመሰ ቦ ዘዐመፅኩ ወቦ እኩይ ዘገብርኩ በዘእመውት ኢይትሀከይ መዊተ ወእመሰ በከ ያስተዋድዩኒ እሉ ዘአልብየ ጌጋይ ለመኑ ብእሲ ይደልዎ የሀበኒ ሎሙ አነ በቄሣር ንጉሥ እጠርእ።
For if I have done wrong and have committed anything worthy of death, I don’t refuse to die; but if none of those things is true that they accuse me of, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar!”
25:12
τότε ὁ Φῆστος συνλαλήσας μετὰ τοῦ συμβουλίου ἀπεκρίθη, Καίσαρα ἐπικέκλησαι, ἐπὶ Καίσαρα πορεύσῃ.
Tunc Festus cum concilio locutus, respondit : Caesarem appellasti ? ad Caesarem ibis.
ወእምዝ ተናጊሮ ፊስጦስ ምስለ መማክርቲሁ ይቤ ጠርአ በቄሣር ነጋሢ ወኀበ ቄሣር የሐውር።
Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, “You have appealed to Caesar. To Caesar you shall go.”
25:13
Ἡμερῶν δὲ διαγενομένων τινῶν Ἀγρίππας ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ Βερνίκη κατήντησαν εἰς Καισάριαν ἀσπασάμενοι τὸν Φῆστον.
Et cum dies aliquot transacti essent, Agrippa rex et Bernice descenderunt Caesaream ad salutandum Festum.
ወእምድኅረ ኅዳጥ መዋዕል ወረዱ አግሪጳ ንጉሥ ወበርኒቄ ወተአምኅዎ ለፊስጦስ።
Now when some days had passed, King Agrippa and Bernice arrived at Caesarea and greeted Festus.
25:14
ὡς δὲ πλείους ἡμέρας διέτριβον ἐκεῖ, ὁ Φῆστος τῷ βασιλεῖ ἀνέθετο τὰ κατὰ τὸν Παῦλον λέγων, ἀνήρ τίς ἐστιν καταλελειμμένος ὑπὸ Φήλικος δέσμιος,
Et cum dies plures ibi demorarentur, Festus regi indicavit de Paulo, dicens : Vir quidam est derelictus a Felice vinctus,
ወነቢሮሙ ብዙኀ መዋዕለ ኀቤሁ ነገሮሙ በእንተ ጳውሎስ ወይቤሎሙ ሀሎ አሐዱ ብእሲ ሙቁሕ ዘኀደጎ ፊልክስ።
As he stayed there many days, Festus laid Paul’s case before the king, saying, “There is a certain man left a prisoner by Felix;
25:15
περὶ οὗ γενομένου μου εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ἐνεφάνισαν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι τῶν Ἰουδαίων, αἰτούμενοι κατ’ αὐτοῦ καταδίκην·
de quo cum essem Jerosolymis, adierunt me principes sacerdotum et seniores Judaeorum, postulantes adversus illum damnationem.
ወእንዘ ሀሎኩ ኢየሩሳሌም መጽኡ ኀቤየ ሊቃነ ካህናት ወረበናተ አይሁድ ወአስተብቍዑኒ ከመ እኰንኖ ሎሙ።
about whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, asking for a sentence against him.
25:16
πρὸς οὓς ἀπεκρίθην ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ἔθος Ῥωμαίοις χαρίζεσθαί τινα ἄνθρωπον πρὶν ἢ ὁ κατηγορούμενος κατὰ πρόσωπον ἔχοι τοὺς κατηγόρους τόπον τε ἀπολογίας λάβοι περὶ τοῦ ἐγκλήματος.
Ad quos respondi : Quia non est Romanis consuetudo damnare aliquem hominem priusquam is qui accusatur praesentes habeat accusatores, locumque defendendi accipiat ad abluenda crimina.
ወእቤሎሙ ኢይከውን ወሕግ አልቦ በዘይኴንንዎ ዘኢዘለፍዎ ማሕተት ወዘኢረከቡ ሎቱ ጌጋየ ሕሩመ ኢይኴንኑ ሰብአ ሮሜ በከመ ረከቡ።
I answered them that it is not the custom of the Romans to give up any man to destruction before the accused has met the accusers face to face and has had opportunity to make his defense concerning the matter laid against him.
25:17
συνελθόντων οὖν αὐτῶν ἐνθάδε ἀναβολὴν μηδεμίαν ποιησάμενος τῇ ἑξῆς καθίσας ἐπὶ τοῦ βήματος ἐκέλευσα ἀχθῆναι τὸν ἄνδρα·
Cum ergo huc convenissent sine ulla dilatione, sequenti die sedens pro tribunali, jussi adduci virum.
ወእምዝ መጺእየ ዝየ ተጋብኡ ካዕበ ወበነግህ ነበርኩ ሎሙ ዐውደ ወአዘዝኩ ያምጽእዎ ለውእቱ ብእሲ።
When therefore they had come together here, I didn’t delay, but on the next day sat on the judgment seat and commanded the man to be brought.
25:18
περὶ οὗ σταθέντες οἱ κατήγοροι οὐδεμίαν αἰτίαν ἔφερον ὧν ἐγὼ ὑπενόουν πονηράν,
De quo, cum stetissent accusatores, nullam causam deferebant, de quibus ego suspicabar malum.
ወአቀምኩ ምስሌሁ እለ ያስተዋድይዎ ወአልቦ ምንትሂ እኩይ ዘገብረ በዘአብጽሕዎ ሎቱ በከመ ኀለይኩ።
When the accusers stood up, they brought no charges against him of such things as I supposed;
25:19
ζητήματα δέ τινα περὶ τῆς ἰδίας δεισιδαιμονίας εἶχον πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ περί τινος Ἰησοῦ τεθνηκότος, ὃν ἔφασκεν ὁ Παῦλος ζῆν.
Quaestiones vero quasdam de sua superstitione habebant adversus eum, et de quodam Jesu defuncto, quem affirmabat Paulus vivere.
ዘእንበለ በእንተ ሕገጊሆሙ ዘይትካሐዱ ወሀሎ አሐዱ ብእሲ ዘስሙ ኢየሱስ ዘሞተ ወጳውሎስ ይብል ሕያው ውእቱ።
but had certain questions against him about their own religion and about one Jesus, who was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.
25:20
ἀπορούμενος δὲ ἐγὼ τὴν περὶ τούτων ζήτησιν ἔλεγον εἰ βούλοιτο πορεύεσθαι εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα κἀκεῖ κρίνεσθαι περὶ τούτων.
Haesitans autem ego de hujusmodi quaestione, dicebam si vellet ire Jerosolymam, et ibi judicari de istis.
ወኀጢእየ እንከ ዘእገብር ሎሙ ፍትሐ በእንተ ማኅሠሦሙ እቤሎ ለጳውሎስ ትፈቅድኑ ትሑር ኢየሩሳሌም ወበህየ ትትዋቀሥ።
Being perplexed how to inquire concerning these things, I asked whether he was willing to go to Jerusalem and there be judged concerning these matters.
25:21
τοῦ δὲ Παύλου ἐπικαλεσαμένου τηρηθῆναι αὐτὸν εἰς τὴν τοῦ Σεβαστοῦ διάγνωσιν, ἐκέλευσα τηρεῖσθαι αὐτὸν ἕως οὗ ἀναπέμψω αὐτὸν πρὸς Καίσαρα.
Paulo autem appellante ut servaretur ad Augusti cognitionem, jussi servari eum, donec mittam eum ad Caesarem.
ወአበየ ውእቱሰ ወተዘመረ መድኀኒቶ ኀበ ንጉሥ ወእምዝ አዘዝኩ ይዕቀብዎ እስከ እፌንዎ ኀበ ቄሣር።
But when Paul had appealed to be kept for the decision of the emperor, I commanded him to be kept until I could send him to Caesar.”
25:22
Ἀγρίππας δὲ πρὸς τὸν Φῆστον, ἐβουλόμην καὶ αὐτὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἀκοῦσαι. αὔριον, φησίν, ἀκούσῃ αὐτοῦ.
Agrippa autem dixit ad Festum : Volebam et ipse hominem audire. Cras, inquit, audies eum.
ወይቤሎ አግሪጳ ለፊስጦስ አነሂ እፈቱ እስምዖ ለውእቱ ብእሲ ወይቤሎ ፊስጦስ እንከሰኬ ጌሠመ ትሰምዖ።
Agrippa said to Festus, “I also would like to hear the man myself.” “Tomorrow,” he said, “you shall hear him.”
25:23
Τῇ οὖν ἐπαύριον ἐλθόντος τοῦ Ἀγρίππα καὶ τῆς Βερνίκης μετὰ πολλῆς φαντασίας καὶ εἰσελθόντων εἰς τὸ ἀκροατήριον σύν τε χιλιάρχοις καὶ ἀνδράσιν τοῖς κατ’ ἐξοχὴν τῆς πόλεως, καὶ κελεύσαντος τοῦ Φήστου ἤχθη ὁ Παῦλος.
Altera autem die cum venisset Agrippa et Bernice cum multa ambitione, et introissent in auditorium cum tribunis et viris principalibus civitatis, jubente Festo, adductus est Paulus.
ወበሳኒታ መጽኡ አግሪጳ ወበርኒቄ ተረሲዮሙ ምስለ ብዙኅ ግርማ ወቦኡ ወነበሩ ዐውደ ምስለ መሳፍንት ወዐበይተ ሀገር ወአዘዘ ፊስጦስ ያምጽእዎ ለጳውሎስ።
So on the next day, when Agrippa and Bernice had come with great pomp, and they had entered into the place of hearing with the commanding officers and the principal men of the city, at the command of Festus, Paul was brought in.
25:24
καί φησιν ὁ Φῆστος· Ἀγρίππα βασιλεῦ καὶ πάντες οἱ συνπαρόντες ἡμῖν ἄνδρες, θεωρεῖτε τοῦτον περὶ οὗ ἅπαν τὸ πλῆθος τῶν Ἰουδαίων ἐνέτυχόν μοι ἔν τε Ἱεροσολύμοις καὶ ἐνθάδε, βοῶντες μὴ δεῖν αὐτὸν ζῆν μηκέτι.
Et dicit Festus : Agrippa rex, et omnes qui simul adestis nobiscum viri, videtis hunc de quo omnis multitudo Judaeorum interpellavit me Jerosolymis, petentes et acclamantes non oportere eum vivere amplius.
ወሶበ በጽሐ ጳውሎስ ይቤ ፊስጦስ ስምዑ አግሪጳ ንጉሥ ኵልክሙ እለ ሀለውክሙ ምስሌነ አኀዊነ ወነዋኬ ውእቱ ብእሲ ዘአስተዋደይዎ አይሁድ በኢየሩሳሌም ወበዝየኒ የዐወይዉ ወይስእሉ ከመ ግሙራ ኢያሕይውዎ።
Festus said, “King Agrippa, and all men who are here present with us, you see this man about whom all the multitude of the Jews petitioned me, both at Jerusalem and here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
25:25
ἐγὼ δὲ κατελαβόμην μηδὲν ἄξιον αὐτὸν θανάτου πεπραχέναι, αὐτοῦ δὲ τούτου ἐπικαλεσαμένου τὸν Σεβαστὸν ἔκρινα πέμπειν.
Ego vere comperi nihil dignum morte eum admisisse. Ipso autem hoc appellante ad Augustum, judicavi mittere.
አንሰኬ ሐቲትየ ጥዩቀ ከመ አልቦ ጌጋይ ወአልቦ እኩይ ዘገብረ በዘይመውት እስመ ውእቱ ፈተወ በጺሐ ኀበ ንጉሥ ፈቀድኩ እንከ እፈንዎ።
But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and as he himself appealed to the emperor, I determined to send him,
25:26
περὶ οὗ ἀσφαλές τι γράψαι τῷ κυρίῳ οὐκ ἔχω· διὸ προήγαγον αὐτὸν ἐφ’ ὑμῶν καὶ μάλιστα ἐπὶ σοῦ, βασιλεῦ Ἀγρίππα, ὅπως τῆς ἀνακρίσεως γενομένης σχῶ τί γράψω·
De quo quid certum scribam domino, non habeo. Propter quod produxi eum ad vos, et maxime ad te, rex Agrippa, ut interrogatione facta habeam quid scribam.
ወባሕቱሰ ኀጣእኩ ዘእብል አበሳሁ እንዘ እጽሕፍ ለእግዚእየ ንጉሥ ወይእዜኒ ፈቀድኩ ከመ አምጽኦ ኀቤክሙ ወፈድፋደሰ ኀቤከ ኦ አግሪጳ ንጉሥ እመቦ ዘእረክብ ጌጋየ ሶበ ትሴአሎ፥ ወትሰምዕ ነገሮ ምንተ እጽሕፍ በእንቲኣሁ ኀበ ንጉሥ።
of whom I have no certain thing to write to my lord. Therefore I have brought him out before you, and especially before you, King Agrippa, that, after examination I may have something to write.
25:27
ἄλογον γάρ μοι δοκεῖ πέμποντα δέσμιον μὴ καὶ τὰς κατ’ αὐτοῦ αἰτίας σημᾶναι.
Sine ratione enim mihi videtur mittere vinctum, et causas ejus non significare.
እስመ ኢይደሉ ንፈንዎ ኀበ ንጉሥ ሙቁሐ ዘአልብነ ጽሕፈተ አበሳሁ ወይእዜኒ ናሁ አምጻእክዎ ኀቤክሙ ሕትቱ እስኩ ለእመቦ ዘትረክቡ ጌጋይ ዘንጽሕፍ እስመ ሊተሰ ዐፀበኒ ነገሩ ወፈንዎቶሂ ሙቁሐ።
For it seems to me unreasonable, in sending a prisoner, not to also specify the charges against him.”
