1:1
בִּשְׁנַ֣ת שָׁל֔וֹשׁ לְמַלְכ֖וּת יְהוֹיָקִ֣ים מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֑ה בָּ֣א נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּ֧ר מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶ֛ל יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם וַיָּ֥צַר עָלֶֽיהָ׃
ἐπὶ βασιλέως Ιωακιμ τῆς Ιουδαίας ἔτους τρίτου παραγενόμενος Ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος εἰς Ιερουσαλημ ἐπολιόρκει αὐτήν ἐν ἔτει τρίτῳ τῆς βασιλείας Ιωακιμ βασιλέως Ιουδα ἦλθεν Ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος εἰς Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἐπολιόρκει αὐτήν
Anno tertio regni Joakim regis Juda, venit Nabuchodonosor, rex Babylonis, in Jerusalem, et obsedit eam :
አመ፡ ሣልስ፡ ዓመተ፡ መንግሥቱ፡ ለኢይዋቄም፡ ንጉሠ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ናቡከደነጾር፡ ንጉሠ፡ ባቢሎን፡ ኢየሩሳሌም፡ ወቀተላ።
In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.
1:2
וַיִּתֵּן֩ אֲדֹנָ֨י בְּיָד֜וֹ אֶת־יְהוֹיָקִ֣ים מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֗ה וּמִקְצָת֙ כְּלֵ֣י בֵית־הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים וַיְבִיאֵ֥ם אֶֽרֶץ־שִׁנְעָ֖ר בֵּ֣ית אֱלֹהָ֑יו וְאֶת־הַכֵּלִ֣ים הֵבִ֔יא בֵּ֖ית אוֹצַ֥ר אֱלֹהָֽיו׃
καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτὴν κύριος εἰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ καὶ Ιωακιμ τὸν βασιλέα τῆς Ιουδαίας καὶ μέρος τι τῶν ἱερῶν σκευῶν τοῦ κυρίου καὶ ἀπήνεγκεν αὐτὰ εἰς Βαβυλῶνα καὶ ἀπηρείσατο αὐτὰ ἐν τῷ εἰδωλίῳ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔδωκεν κύριος ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ τὸν Ιωακιμ βασιλέα Ιουδα καὶ ἀπὸ μέρους τῶν σκευῶν οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἤνεγκεν αὐτὰ εἰς γῆν Σεννααρ οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ σκεύη εἰσήνεγκεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον θησαυροῦ τοῦ θεοῦ αὐτοῦ
et tradidit Dominus in manu ejus Joakim, regem Juda, et partem vasorum domus Dei : et asportavit ea in terram Sennaar in domum dei sui, et vasa intulit in domum thesauri dei sui.
ወአግብአ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ውስተ፡ እዴሁ፡ ለኢዮአቂም፡ ንጉሠ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ወንዋየ፡ ቤተ፡ እግዚአብሐየር፡ ወወሰደ፡ ብሔረ፡ ሰናኦር፡ ቤተ፡ አምላኩ፡ ወንዋየ፡ አቡሁ፡ ወቤተ፡ መዝገበ፡ አምላኩ።
The Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of the vessels of the house of God; and he carried them into the land of Shinar to the house of his god. He brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
1:3
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לְאַשְׁפְּנַ֖ז רַ֣ב סָרִיסָ֑יו לְהָבִ֞יא מִבְּנֵ֧י יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל וּמִזֶּ֥רַע הַמְּלוּכָ֖ה וּמִן־הַֽפַּרְתְּמִֽים׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Αβιεσδρι τῷ ἑαυτοῦ ἀρχιευνούχῳ ἀγαγεῖν αὐτῷ ἐκ τῶν υἱῶν τῶν μεγιστάνων τοῦ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐκ τοῦ βασιλικοῦ γένους καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἐπιλέκτων καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τῷ Ασφανεζ τῷ ἀρχιευνούχῳ αὐτοῦ εἰσαγαγεῖν ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας Ισραηλ καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ σπέρματος τῆς βασιλείας καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν φορθομμιν
Et ait rex Asphenez praeposito eunuchorum ut introduceret de filiis Israël, et de semine regio et tyrannorum,
ወይቤሎ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ለአዝፌኔዝ፡ ሊቀ፡ ኅጥዋኒሁ፡ ያምጽእ፡ እምደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ እምእለ፡ ተፄወዉ፡ ያምጽእ፡ እምዘመደ፡ መንግሥት።
The king spoke to Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring in some of the children of Israel, even of the royal offspring and of the nobles:
1:4
יְלָדִ֣ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֵֽין־בָּהֶ֣ם כׇּל־מאֿוּם֩ וְטוֹבֵ֨י מַרְאֶ֜ה וּמַשְׂכִּלִ֣ים בְּכׇל־חׇכְמָ֗ה וְיֹ֤דְעֵי דַ֙עַת֙ וּמְבִינֵ֣י מַדָּ֔ע וַאֲשֶׁר֙ כֹּ֣חַ בָּהֶ֔ם לַעֲמֹ֖ד בְּהֵיכַ֣ל הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וּֽלְלַמְּדָ֥ם סֵ֖פֶר וּלְשׁ֥וֹן כַּשְׂדִּֽים׃
νεανίσκους ἀμώμους καὶ εὐειδεῖς καὶ ἐπιστήμονας ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ καὶ γραμματικοὺς καὶ συνετοὺς καὶ σοφοὺς καὶ ἰσχύοντας ὥστε εἶναι ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ διδάξαι αὐτοὺς γράμματα καὶ διάλεκτον Χαλδαϊκὴν νεανίσκους οἷς οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν αὐτοῖς μῶμος καὶ καλοὺς τῇ ὄψει καὶ συνιέντας ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ καὶ γιγνώσκοντας γνῶσιν καὶ διανοουμένους φρόνησιν καὶ οἷς ἐστιν ἰσχὺς ἐν αὐτοῖς ἑστάναι ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ διδάξαι αὐτοὺς γράμματα καὶ γλῶσσαν Χαλδαίων
pueros in quibus nulla esset macula, decoros forma, et eruditos omni sapientia, cautos scientia, et doctos disciplina, et qui possent stare in palatio regis, ut doceret eos litteras et linguam Chaldaeorum.
ቢዘ፡ ወራዙት፡ እለ፡ አልቦሙ፡ ነውረ፡ ዘለሓይ፡ ገጾሙ፡ ወያአምሩ፡ ኵሎ፡ ጥበበ፡ ወይሌብዉ፡ ምክረ፡ ወይኄልዩ፡ እለ፡ ቦሙ፡ ኀይለ፡ ይቁሙ፡ ውስተ፡ ጽርሐ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ቅድሜሁ፡ ወይምርህዎሙ፡ መጽሐፈ፡ ዘነገረ፡ ፋርስ።
youths in whom was no defect, but well-favored, skillful in all wisdom, endowed with knowledge, understanding science, and who had the ability to stand in the king’s palace; and that he should teach them the learning and the language of the Chaldeans.
1:5
וַיְמַן֩ לָהֶ֨ם הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ דְּבַר־י֣וֹם בְּיוֹמ֗וֹ מִפַּת־בַּ֤ג הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ וּמִיֵּ֣ין מִשְׁתָּ֔יו וּֽלְגַדְּלָ֖ם שָׁנִ֣ים שָׁל֑וֹשׁ וּמִ֨קְצָתָ֔ם יַֽעַמְד֖וּ לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
καὶ δίδοσθαι αὐτοῖς ἔκθεσιν ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ βασιλέως καθ’ ἑκάστην ἡμέραν καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς βασιλικῆς τραπέζης καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ οἴνου οὗ πίνει ὁ βασιλεύς καὶ ἐκπαιδεῦσαι αὐτοὺς ἔτη τρία καὶ ἐκ τούτων στῆσαι ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ διέταξεν αὐτοῖς ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸ τῆς ἡμέρας καθ’ ἡμέραν ἀπὸ τῆς τραπέζης τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ οἴνου τοῦ πότου αὐτοῦ καὶ θρέψαι αὐτοὺς ἔτη τρία καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα στῆναι ἐνώπιον τοῦ βασιλέως
Et constituit eis rex annonam per singulos dies de cibis suis, et de vino unde bibebat ipse, ut enutriti tribus annis, postea starent in conspectu regis.
ወአዘዘ፡ ሎሙ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ሲሳዮሙ፡ ኵሎ፡ አሚረ፡ የሀብዎሙ፡ እማእደ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ዘዘዕለቶሙ፡ ወእምነ፡ ወይን፡ ዘይሰቲ፡ ውእቱ፡ ወየኀርሥዎሙ፡ ሠለስተ፡ ዓመተ፡ ወእምዝ፡ ይቁሙ፡ ቅድመ፡ ንጉሥ።
The king appointed for them a daily portion of the king’s delicacies and of the wine which he drank, and that they should be nourished three years, that at its end they should stand before the king.
1:6
וַיְהִ֥י בָהֶ֖ם מִבְּנֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה דָּנִיֵּ֣אל חֲנַנְיָ֔ה מִֽישָׁאֵ֖ל וַעֲזַרְיָֽה׃
καὶ ἦσαν ἐκ τοῦ γένους τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ τῶν ἀπὸ τῆς Ιουδαίας Δανιηλ Ανανιας Μισαηλ Αζαριας καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐκ τῶν υἱῶν Ιουδα Δανιηλ καὶ Ανανιας καὶ Μισαηλ καὶ Αζαριας
Fuerunt ergo inter eos de filiis Juda, Daniel, Ananias, Misaël, et Azarias.
ወሀለዉ፡ ምስሌሆሙ፡ እምደቂቀ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ዳንኤል፡ ወአናንያ፡ ወአዛርያ፡ ወሚሳኤል።
Now among these of the children of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.
1:7
וַיָּ֧שֶׂם לָהֶ֛ם שַׂ֥ר הַסָּרִיסִ֖ים שֵׁמ֑וֹת וַיָּ֨שֶׂם לְדָֽנִיֵּ֜אל בֵּ֣לְטְשַׁאצַּ֗ר וְלַֽחֲנַנְיָה֙ שַׁדְרַ֔ךְ וּלְמִֽישָׁאֵ֣ל מֵישַׁ֔ךְ וְלַעֲזַרְיָ֖ה עֲבֵ֥ד נְגֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἐπέθηκεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἀρχιευνοῦχος ὀνόματα τῷ μὲν Δανιηλ Βαλτασαρ τῷ δὲ Ανανια Σεδραχ καὶ τῷ Μισαηλ Μισαχ καὶ τῷ Αζαρια Αβδεναγω καὶ ἐπέθηκεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἀρχιευνοῦχος ὀνόματα τῷ Δανιηλ Βαλτασαρ καὶ τῷ Ανανια Σεδραχ καὶ τῷ Μισαηλ Μισαχ καὶ τῷ Αζαρια Αβδεναγω
Et imposuit eis praepositus eunuchorum nomina : Danieli, Baltassar ; Ananiae, Sidrach ; Misaëli, Misach ; et Azariae, Abdenago.
ወወለጦሙ፡ አስማቲሆሙ፡ ሊቀ፡ ኅጽዋን፡ ለዳንኤል፡ በልጣሳር፡ ወለአናንያ፡ ሲድራቅ፡ ወለሚሳኤል፡ ሚሳቅ፡ ወለአዛርያ፡ አብድናጎ።
The prince of the eunuchs gave names to them: to Daniel he gave the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.
1:8
וַיָּ֤שֶׂם דָּנִיֵּאל֙ עַל־לִבּ֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹֽא־יִתְגָּאַ֛ל בְּפַת־בַּ֥ג הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וּבְיֵ֣ין מִשְׁתָּ֑יו וַיְבַקֵּשׁ֙ מִשַּׂ֣ר הַסָּרִיסִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר לֹ֥א יִתְגָּאָֽל׃
καὶ ἐνεθυμήθη Δανιηλ ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ ὅπως μὴ ἀλισγηθῇ ἐν τῷ δείπνῳ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἐν ᾧ πίνει οἴνῳ καὶ ἠξίωσε τὸν ἀρχιευνοῦχον ἵνα μὴ συμμολυνθῇ καὶ ἔθετο Δανιηλ ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ ὡς οὐ μὴ ἀλισγηθῇ ἐν τῇ τραπέζῃ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἐν τῷ οἴνῳ τοῦ πότου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἠξίωσε τὸν ἀρχιευνοῦχον ὡς οὐ μὴ ἀλισγηθῇ
Proposuit autem Daniel in corde suo ne pollueretur de mensa regis, neque de vino potus ejus : et rogavit eunuchorum praepositum ne contaminaretur.
ወአጥብዐ፡ ዳንኤል፡ በልቡ፡ ከመ፡ ኢይብላዕ፡ እማእደ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወከመ፡ አይስተይ፡ እምወይኑ፡ ወአስተብቊዖ፡ ለሊቀ፡ ኅጽዋን፡ ከመ፡ ኢያብልዖ።
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank. Therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
1:9
וַיִּתֵּ֤ן הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת־דָּ֣נִיֵּ֔אל לְחֶ֖סֶד וּֽלְרַחֲמִ֑ים לִפְנֵ֖י שַׂ֥ר הַסָּרִיסִֽים׃
καὶ ἔδωκε κύριος τῷ Δανιηλ τιμὴν καὶ χάριν ἐναντίον τοῦ ἀρχιευνούχου καὶ ἔδωκεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν Δανιηλ εἰς ἔλεον καὶ εἰς οἰκτιρμὸν ἐνώπιον τοῦ ἀρχιευνούχου
Dedit autem Deus Danieli gratiam et misericordiam in conspectu principis eunuchorum.
ወወሀቦ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለዳንኤል፡ ሣህለ፡ ወምሕረተ፡ በቅድመ፡ ሊቀ፡ ኅጽዋን።
Now God made Daniel find kindness and compassion in the sight of the prince of the eunuchs.
1:10
וַיֹּ֜אמֶר שַׂ֤ר הַסָּרִיסִים֙ לְדָ֣נִיֵּ֔אל יָרֵ֤א אֲנִי֙ אֶת־אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֣ר מִנָּ֔ה אֶת־מַאֲכַלְכֶ֖ם וְאֶת־מִשְׁתֵּיכֶ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֡ר לָ֩מָּה֩ יִרְאֶ֨ה אֶת־פְּנֵיכֶ֜ם זֹֽעֲפִ֗ים מִן־הַיְלָדִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר כְּגִֽילְכֶ֔ם וְחִיַּבְתֶּ֥ם אֶת־רֹאשִׁ֖י לַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἀρχιευνοῦχος τῷ Δανιηλ ἀγωνιῶ τὸν κύριόν μου τὸν βασιλέα τὸν ἐκτάξαντα τὴν βρῶσιν ὑμῶν καὶ τὴν πόσιν ὑμῶν ἵνα μὴ ἴδῃ τὰ πρόσωπα ὑμῶν διατετραμμένα καὶ ἀσθενῆ παρὰ τοὺς συντρεφομένους ὑμῖν νεανίας τῶν ἀλλογενῶν καὶ κινδυνεύσω τῷ ἰδίῳ τραχήλῳ καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἀρχιευνοῦχος τῷ Δανιηλ φοβοῦμαι ἐγὼ τὸν κύριόν μου τὸν βασιλέα τὸν ἐκτάξαντα τὴν βρῶσιν ὑμῶν καὶ τὴν πόσιν ὑμῶν μήποτε ἴδῃ τὰ πρόσωπα ὑμῶν σκυθρωπὰ παρὰ τὰ παιδάρια τὰ συνήλικα ὑμῶν καὶ καταδικάσητε τὴν κεφαλήν μου τῷ βασιλεῖ
Et ait princeps eunuchorum ad Danielem : Timeo ego dominum meum regem, qui constituit vobis cibum et potum : qui si viderit vultus vestros macilentiores prae ceteris adolescentibus coaevis vestris, condemnabitis caput meum regi.
ወይቤሎ፡ ሊቀ፡ ኅጽዋን፡ ለዳንኤል። እፈርሆ፡ አነ፡ ለእግዚእየ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ እስመ፡ አዘዘ፡ ሲሳየክሙ፡ ወዘትሰትዩ፡ እመ፡ ርእየክሙ፡ ድግዱጋኒክሙ፡ እምደቅ፡ እለ፡ ቢጽክሙ፡ ኢይኰንነኒ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ርእስየ።
The prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink. For why should he see your faces worse looking than the youths who are of your own age? Then you would endanger my head with the king.”
1:11
וַיֹּ֥אמֶר דָּנִיֵּ֖אל אֶל־הַמֶּלְצַ֑ר אֲשֶׁ֤ר מִנָּה֙ שַׂ֣ר הַסָּֽרִיסִ֔ים עַל־דָּנִיֵּ֣אל חֲנַנְיָ֔ה מִֽישָׁאֵ֖ל וַעֲזַרְיָֽה׃
καὶ εἶπεν Δανιηλ Αβιεσδρι τῷ ἀναδειχθέντι ἀρχιευνούχῳ ἐπὶ τὸν Δανιηλ Ανανιαν Μισαηλ Αζαριαν καὶ εἶπεν Δανιηλ πρὸς Αμελσαδ ὃν κατέστησεν ὁ ἀρχιευνοῦχος ἐπὶ Δανιηλ Ανανιαν Μισαηλ Αζαριαν
Et dixit Daniel ad Malasar, quem constituerat princeps eunuchorum super Danielem, Ananiam, Misaëlem, et Azariam :
ወይቤሎ፡ ዳንኤል፡ ለአሜስድ፡ ዘሤመ፡ ሊቀ፡ ኅጽዋን፡ ዲበ፡ ዳንኤል፡ ወአናንያ፡ ወአዛርያ፡ ወሚሳኤል።
Then Daniel said to the steward whom the prince of the eunuchs had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
1:12
נַס־נָ֥א אֶת־עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ יָמִ֣ים עֲשָׂרָ֑ה וְיִתְּנוּ־לָ֜נוּ מִן־הַזֵּרֹעִ֛ים וְנֹאכְלָ֖ה וּמַ֥יִם וְנִשְׁתֶּֽה׃
πείρασον δὴ τοὺς παῖδάς σου ἐφ’ ἡμέρας δέκα καὶ δοθήτω ἡμῖν ἀπὸ τῶν ὀσπρίων τῆς γῆς ὥστε κάπτειν καὶ ὑδροποτεῖν πείρασον δὴ τοὺς παῖδάς σου ἡμέρας δέκα καὶ δότωσαν ἡμῖν ἀπὸ τῶν σπερμάτων καὶ φαγόμεθα καὶ ὕδωρ πιόμεθα
Tenta nos, obsecro, servos tuos, diebus decem, et dentur nobis legumina ad vescendum, et aqua ad bibendum :
ወ፡ አመክሮሙ፡ ለአግብርቲከ፡ ዐሡረ፡ ዕለተ፡ ወሀበነ፡ እምፍሬ፡ ምድር፡ ወንብላዕ፡ ወማየ፡ ንስተይ።
“Test your servants, I beg you, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink.
1:13
וְיֵרָא֤וּ לְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙ מַרְאֵ֔ינוּ וּמַרְאֵה֙ הַיְלָדִ֔ים הָאֹ֣כְלִ֔ים אֵ֖ת פַּת־בַּ֣ג הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וְכַאֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּרְאֵ֔ה עֲשֵׂ֖ה עִם־עֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃
καὶ ἐὰν φανῇ ἡ ὄψις ἡμῶν διατετραμμένη παρὰ τοὺς ἄλλους νεανίσκους τοὺς ἐσθίοντας ἀπὸ τοῦ βασιλικοῦ δείπνου καθὼς ἐὰν θέλῃς οὕτω χρῆσαι τοῖς παισί σου καὶ ὀφθήτωσαν ἐνώπιόν σου αἱ ἰδέαι ἡμῶν καὶ αἱ ἰδέαι τῶν παιδαρίων τῶν ἐσθιόντων τὴν τράπεζαν τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ καθὼς ἂν ἴδῃς ποίησον μετὰ τῶν παίδων σου
et contemplare vultus nostros, et vultus puerorum, qui vescuntur cibo regio : et sicut videris, facies cum servis tuis.
ወትርአይ፡ ነፍስትነ፡ ወነፍስቶሙ፡ ለደቅ፡ እለ፡ ይሴስዩ፡ እማእደ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወዘከመ፡ ርኢኮ፡ ግብር፡ ምስለ፡ አግብርቲከ።
Then let our faces be examined before you, and the face of the youths who eat of the king’s delicacies; and as you see, deal with your servants.”
1:14
וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע לָהֶ֖ם לַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה וַיְנַסֵּ֖ם יָמִ֥ים עֲשָׂרָֽה׃
καὶ ἐχρήσατο αὐτοῖς τὸν τρόπον τοῦτον καὶ ἐπείρασεν αὐτοὺς ἡμέρας δέκα καὶ εἰσήκουσεν αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπείρασεν αὐτοὺς ἡμέρας δέκα
Qui, audito sermone hujuscemodi, tentavit eos diebus decem.
ወሰምዖሙ፡ ወአመከሮሙ፡ ዐሡረ፡ ዕለተ።
So he listened to them in this matter, and tested them for ten days.
1:15
וּמִקְצָת֙ יָמִ֣ים עֲשָׂרָ֔ה נִרְאָ֤ה מַרְאֵיהֶם֙ ט֔וֹב וּבְרִיאֵ֖י בָּשָׂ֑ר מִ֨ן־כׇּל־הַיְלָדִ֔ים הָאֹ֣כְלִ֔ים אֵ֖ת פַּת־בַּ֥ג הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
μετὰ δὲ τὰς δέκα ἡμέρας ἐφάνη ἡ ὄψις αὐτῶν καλὴ καὶ ἡ ἕξις τοῦ σώματος κρείσσων τῶν ἄλλων νεανίσκων τῶν ἐσθιόντων τὸ βασιλικὸν δεῖπνον καὶ μετὰ τὸ τέλος τῶν δέκα ἡμερῶν ὡράθησαν αἱ ἰδέαι αὐτῶν ἀγαθαὶ καὶ ἰσχυραὶ ταῖς σαρξὶν ὑπὲρ τὰ παιδάρια τὰ ἐσθίοντα τὴν τράπεζαν τοῦ βασιλέως
Post dies autem decem, apparuerunt vultus eorum meliores, et corpulentiores prae omnibus pueris, qui vescebantur cibo regio.
ወኀሊፎ፡ ዐሡር፡ ዕለትኀየሰ፡ ነፍስቶሙ፡ ወሠነየ፡ ራእዮሙ፡ እምእልክቱ፡ ደቅ፡ እለ፡ ይሴሰዩ፡ እማእደ፡ ንጉሥ።
At the end of ten days, their faces appeared fairer and they were fatter in flesh than all the youths who ate of the king’s delicacies.
1:16
וַיְהִ֣י הַמֶּלְצַ֗ר נֹשֵׂא֙ אֶת־פַּת־בָּגָ֔ם וְיֵ֖ין מִשְׁתֵּיהֶ֑ם וְנֹתֵ֥ן לָהֶ֖ם זֵרְעֹנִֽים׃
καὶ ἦν Αβιεσδρι ἀναιρούμενος τὸ δεῖπνον αὐτῶν καὶ τὸν οἶνον αὐτῶν καὶ ἀντεδίδου αὐτοῖς ἀπὸ τῶν ὀσπρίων καὶ ἐγένετο Αμελσαδ ἀναιρούμενος τὸ δεῖπνον αὐτῶν καὶ τὸν οἶνον τοῦ πόματος αὐτῶν καὶ ἐδίδου αὐτοῖς σπέρματα
Porro Malasar tollebat cibaria, et vinum potus eorum : dabatque eis legumina.
ወእምዝ፡ ይነሥእ፡ አሜስድ፡ ሲሳዮሙ፡ ወወይነ፡ ዘይሰትዩ፡ ወይሁቦሙ፡ ርአ፡ ምድር።
So the steward took away their delicacies and the wine that they were given to drink, and gave them vegetables.
1:17
וְהַיְלָדִ֤ים הָאֵ֙לֶּה֙ אַרְבַּעְתָּ֔ם נָתַ֨ן לָהֶ֧ם הָֽאֱלֹהִ֛ים מַדָּ֥ע וְהַשְׂכֵּ֖ל בְּכׇל־סֵ֣פֶר וְחׇכְמָ֑ה וְדָנִיֵּ֣אל הֵבִ֔ין בְּכׇל־חָז֖וֹן וַחֲלֹמֽוֹת׃
καὶ τοῖς νεανίσκοις ἔδωκεν ὁ κύριος ἐπιστήμην καὶ σύνεσιν καὶ φρόνησιν ἐν πάσῃ γραμματικῇ τέχνῃ καὶ τῷ Δανιηλ ἔδωκε σύνεσιν ἐν παντὶ ῥήματι καὶ ὁράματι καὶ ἐνυπνίοις καὶ ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ καὶ τὰ παιδάρια ταῦτα οἱ τέσσαρες αὐτοί ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς ὁ θεὸς σύνεσιν καὶ φρόνησιν ἐν πάσῃ γραμματικῇ καὶ σοφίᾳ καὶ Δανιηλ συνῆκεν ἐν πάσῃ ὁράσει καὶ ἐνυπνίοις
Pueris autem his dedit Deus scientiam et disciplinam, in omni libro et sapientia : Danieli autem intelligentiam omnium visionum et somniorum.
ለአርባዕቱ፡ ደቅ፡ ወወሀቦሙ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ጥበበ፡ ወአእምሮ፡ ወልቡና፡ በኵሉ፡ መጽሐፍ፡ ወዳንኤል፡ ጠቢብ፡ በኵሉ፡ ራእ፡ ወፍካሬ፡ ሕልም።
Now as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
1:18
וּלְמִקְצָת֙ הַיָּמִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־אָמַ֥ר הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ לַהֲבִיאָ֑ם וַיְבִיאֵם֙ שַׂ֣ר הַסָּרִיסִ֔ים לִפְנֵ֖י נְבֻכַדְנֶצַּֽר׃
μετὰ δὲ τὰς ἡμέρας ταύτας ἐπέταξεν ὁ βασιλεὺς εἰσαγαγεῖν αὐτούς καὶ εἰσήχθησαν ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀρχιευνούχου πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Ναβουχοδονοσορ καὶ μετὰ τὸ τέλος τῶν ἡμερῶν ὧν εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς εἰσαγαγεῖν αὐτούς καὶ εἰσήγαγεν αὐτοὺς ὁ ἀρχιευνοῦχος ἐναντίον Ναβουχοδονοσορ
Completis itaque diebus, post quos dixerat rex ut introducerentur, introduxit eos praepositus eunuchorum in conspectu Nabuchodonosor.
ወወእምዝ፡ ተፈጺሞ፡ መዋዕል፡ ዘአዘዘ፡ ንጉሥ፡ አምጽእዎሙ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ ወአብኦሙ፡ ሊቀ፡ ኅጽዋን፡ ቅድመ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ናቡከደነጾር።
At the end of the days which the king had appointed for bringing them in, the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
1:19
וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר אִתָּם֮ הַמֶּ֒לֶךְ֒ וְלֹ֤א נִמְצָא֙ מִכֻּלָּ֔ם כְּדָנִיֵּ֣אל חֲנַנְיָ֔ה מִֽישָׁאֵ֖ל וַעֲזַרְיָ֑ה וַיַּֽעַמְד֖וּ לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
καὶ ὡμίλησεν αὐτοῖς ὁ βασιλεύς καὶ οὐχ εὑρέθη ἐν τοῖς σοφοῖς ὅμοιος τῷ Δανιηλ καὶ Ανανια καὶ Μισαηλ καὶ Αζαρια καὶ ἦσαν παρὰ τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ ἐλάλησεν μετ’ αὐτῶν ὁ βασιλεύς καὶ οὐχ εὑρέθησαν ἐκ πάντων αὐτῶν ὅμοιοι Δανιηλ καὶ Ανανια καὶ Μισαηλ καὶ Αζαρια καὶ ἔστησαν ἐνώπιον τοῦ βασιλέως
Cumque eis locutus fuisset rex, non sunt inventi tales de universis, ut Daniel, Ananias, Misaël, et Azarias : et steterunt in conspectu regis.
ወተናገሮሙ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወኢተረክበ፡ በውስተ፡ ኵሉ፡ ከመ፡ ዳንኤል፡ ወአናንያ፡ ወአዛር፡ ወሚሳኤል፡ ወቆሙ፡ ቅድመ፡ ንጉሥ።
The king talked with them; and among them all was found no one like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore they stood before the king.
1:20
וְכֹ֗ל דְּבַר֙ חׇכְמַ֣ת בִּינָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־בִּקֵּ֥שׁ מֵהֶ֖ם הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַֽיִּמְצָאֵ֞ם עֶ֣שֶׂר יָד֗וֹת עַ֤ל כׇּל־הַֽחַרְטֻמִּים֙ הָֽאַשָּׁפִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּכׇל־מַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἐν παντὶ λόγῳ καὶ συνέσει καὶ παιδείᾳ ὅσα ἐζήτησε παρ’ αὐτῶν ὁ βασιλεύς κατέλαβεν αὐτοὺς σοφωτέρους δεκαπλασίως ὑπὲρ τοὺς σοφιστὰς καὶ τοὺς φιλοσόφους τοὺς ἐν πάσῃ τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐδόξασεν αὐτοὺς ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ κατέστησεν αὐτοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ ἀνέδειξεν αὐτοὺς σοφοὺς παρὰ πάντας τοὺς αὐτοῦ ἐν πράγμασιν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν παντὶ ῥήματι σοφίας καὶ ἐπιστήμης ὧν ἐζήτησεν παρ’ αὐτῶν ὁ βασιλεύς εὗρεν αὐτοὺς δεκαπλασίονας παρὰ πάντας τοὺς ἐπαοιδοὺς καὶ τοὺς μάγους τοὺς ὄντας ἐν πάσῃ τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ
Et omne verbum sapientiae et intellectus, quod sciscitatus est ab eis rex, invenit in eis decuplum super cunctos ariolos et magos qui erant in universo regno ejus.
ወበኵሉ፡ ነገረ፡ ትበብ፡ ወምክር፡ ዘኀሠሠ፡ ንጉሥ፡ በኀቤሆሙ፡ ረከበ፡ ተዕሥርተ፡ እምኵሉ፡ ሰብአ፡ ሥራይ፡ ወሰብአ፡ ሰገል፡ እለ፡ ውስተ፡ መንግሥቱ።
In every matter of wisdom and understanding concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his realm.
1:21
וַֽיְהִי֙ דָּֽנִיֵּ֔אל עַד־שְׁנַ֥ת אַחַ֖ת לְכ֥וֹרֶשׁ הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ {ס}
καὶ ἦν Δανιηλ ἕως τοῦ πρώτου ἔτους τῆς βασιλείας Κύρου βασιλέως Περσῶν καὶ ἐγένετο Δανιηλ ἕως ἔτους ἑνὸς Κύρου τοῦ βασιλέως
Fuit autem Daniel usque ad annum primum Cyri regis.
ወነበረ፡ ዳንኤል፡ እስከ፡ አሐቲ፡ ዓመተ፡ መንግሥቱ፡ ለቂሮስ፡ ንጉሥ።
Daniel continued even to the first year of King Cyrus.
