1:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִ֖י בִּימֵ֣י אֲחַשְׁוֵר֑וֹשׁ ה֣וּא אֲחַשְׁוֵר֗וֹשׁ הַמֹּלֵךְ֙ מֵהֹ֣דּוּ וְעַד ־כּ֔וּשׁ שֶׁ֛בַע וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים וּמֵאָ֖ה מְדִינָֽה ׃
ἔτους δευτέρου βασιλεύοντος Ἀρταξέρξου τοῦ μεγάλου τῇ μιᾷ τοῦ Νισα ἐνύπνιον εἶδεν Μαρδοχαῖος ὁ τοῦ Ιαϊρου τοῦ Σεμεϊου τοῦ Κισαιου ἐκ φυλῆς Βενιαμιν ἄνθρωπος Ιουδαῖος οἰκῶν ἐν Σούσοις τῇ πόλει ἄνθρωπος μέγας θεραπεύων ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ τοῦ βασιλέως ἦν δὲ ἐκ τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας ἧς ᾐχμαλώτευσεν Ναβουχοδονοσορ ὁ βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος ἐξ Ιερουσαλημ μετὰ Ιεχονιου τοῦ βασιλέως τῆς Ιουδαίας καὶ τοῦτο αὐτοῦ τὸ ἐνύπνιον καὶ ἰδοὺ φωναὶ καὶ θόρυβος βρονταὶ καὶ σεισμός τάραχος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἰδοὺ δύο δράκοντες μεγάλοι ἕτοιμοι προῆλθον ἀμφότεροι παλαίειν καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτῶν φωνὴ μεγάλη καὶ τῇ φωνῇ αὐτῶν ἡτοιμάσθη πᾶν ἔθνος εἰς πόλεμον ὥστε πολεμῆσαι δικαίων ἔθνος καὶ ἰδοὺ ἡμέρα σκότους καὶ γνόφου θλῖψις καὶ στενοχωρία κάκωσις καὶ τάραχος μέγας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐταράχθη δίκαιον πᾶν ἔθνος φοβούμενοι τὰ ἑαυτῶν κακὰ καὶ ἡτοιμάσθησαν ἀπολέσθαι καὶ ἐβόησαν πρὸς τὸν θεόν ἀπὸ δὲ τῆς βοῆς αὐτῶν ἐγένετο ὡσανεὶ ἀπὸ μικρᾶς πηγῆς ποταμὸς μέγας ὕδωρ πολύ φῶς καὶ ὁ ἥλιος ἀνέτειλεν καὶ οἱ ταπεινοὶ ὑψώθησαν καὶ κατέφαγον τοὺς ἐνδόξους καὶ διεγερθεὶς Μαρδοχαῖος ὁ ἑωρακὼς τὸ ἐνύπνιον τοῦτο καὶ τί ὁ θεὸς βεβούλευται ποιῆσαι εἶχεν αὐτὸ ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ καὶ ἐν παντὶ λόγῳ ἤθελεν ἐπιγνῶναι αὐτὸ ἕως τῆς νυκτός καὶ ἡσύχασεν Μαρδοχαῖος ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ μετὰ Γαβαθα καὶ Θαρρα τῶν δύο εὐνούχων τοῦ βασιλέως τῶν φυλασσόντων τὴν αὐλὴν ἤκουσέν τε αὐτῶν τοὺς λογισμοὺς καὶ τὰς μερίμνας αὐτῶν ἐξηρεύνησεν καὶ ἔμαθεν ὅτι ἑτοιμάζουσιν τὰς χεῖρας ἐπιβαλεῖν Ἀρταξέρξῃ τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ ὑπέδειξεν τῷ βασιλεῖ περὶ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐξήτασεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τοὺς δύο εὐνούχους καὶ ὁμολογήσαντες ἀπήχθησαν καὶ ἔγραψεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τοὺς λόγους τούτους εἰς μνημόσυνον καὶ Μαρδοχαῖος ἔγραψεν περὶ τῶν λόγων τούτων καὶ ἐπέταξεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Μαρδοχαίῳ θεραπεύειν ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ δόματα περὶ τούτων καὶ ἦν Αμαν Αμαδαθου Βουγαῖος ἔνδοξος ἐνώπιον τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἐζήτησεν κακοποιῆσαι τὸν Μαρδοχαῖον καὶ τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ὑπὲρ τῶν δύο εὐνούχων τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τοὺς λόγους τούτους ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις Ἀρταξέρξου οὗτος ὁ Ἀρταξέρξης ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰνδικῆς ἑκατὸν εἴκοσι ἑπτὰ χωρῶν ἐκράτησεν
In diebus Assueri , qui regnavit ab India usque Aethiopiam super centum viginti septem provincias ,
በካልእ ፡ ዓመት ፡ እምዘነግሠ ፡ አርጤክስስ ፡ ዓቢይ ፡ አመ ፡ ቀዳሚ ፡ ዘኔሳን ፡ ርእየ ፡ ሕልመ ፡ መርዶክዮስ ፡ ዘኢያኤሩ ፡ ዘሴምዩ ፡ ዘቄስዩ ፡ እምነገደ ፡ ብንያም ፡ ብእሲ ፡ አይሁዳዊ ።
Now in the days of Ahasuerus (this is Ahasuerus who reigned from India even to Ethiopia, over one hundred twenty-seven provinces),
1:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ בַּיָּמִ֖ים הָהֵ֑ם כְּשֶׁ֣בֶת ׀ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵר֗וֹשׁ עַ֚ל כִּסֵּ֣א מַלְכוּת֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּשׁוּשַׁ֥ן הַבִּירָֽה ׃
ἐν αὐταῖς ταῖς ἡμέραις ὅτε ἐθρονίσθη ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἀρταξέρξης ἐν Σούσοις τῇ πόλει
quando sedit in solio regni sui , Susan civitas regni ejus exordium fuit .
ወይነብር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሀገረ ፡ ሱሳ ፡ ወዓቢይ ፡ ብእሲሁ ፡ ወይነብር ፡ በዓፀደ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ንጉሥ ።
in those days, when the King Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Susa the palace,
1:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ בִּשְׁנַ֤ת שָׁלוֹשׁ֙ לְמׇלְכ֔וֹ עָשָׂ֣ה מִשְׁתֶּ֔ה לְכׇל ־שָׂרָ֖יו וַעֲבָדָ֑יו חֵ֣יל ׀ פָּרַ֣ס וּמָדַ֗י הַֽפַּרְתְּמִ֛ים וְשָׂרֵ֥י הַמְּדִינ֖וֹת לְפָנָֽיו ׃
ἐν τῷ τρίτῳ ἔτει βασιλεύοντος αὐτοῦ δοχὴν ἐποίησεν τοῖς φίλοις καὶ τοῖς λοιποῖς ἔθνεσιν καὶ τοῖς Περσῶν καὶ Μήδων ἐνδόξοις καὶ τοῖς ἄρχουσιν τῶν σατραπῶν
Tertio igitur anno imperii sui fecit grande convivium cunctis principibus et pueris suis , fortissimis Persarum , et Medorum inclytis , et praefectis provinciarum coram se ,
ወእምነ ፡ ፄዋ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘፄወዎ ፡ ናቡከደነፆር ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ባቢሎን ፡ እምነ ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም ፡ ምስለ ፡ ኢኮንያን ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ይሁዳ ።
in the third year of his reign, he made a feast for all his princes and his servants; the army of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces being before him.
1:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ בְּהַרְאֹת֗וֹ אֶת ־עֹ֙שֶׁר֙ כְּב֣וֹד מַלְכוּת֔וֹ וְאֶ֨ת ־יְקָ֔ר תִּפְאֶ֖רֶת גְּדוּלָּת֑וֹ יָמִ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים שְׁמוֹנִ֥ים וּמְאַ֖ת יֽוֹם ׃
καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα μετὰ τὸ δεῖξαι αὐτοῖς τὸν πλοῦτον τῆς βασιλείας αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν δόξαν τῆς εὐφροσύνης τοῦ πλούτου αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ ἡμέρας ἑκατὸν ὀγδοήκοντα
ut ostenderet divitias gloriae regni sui , ac magnitudinem atque jactantiam potentiae suae , multo tempore , centum videlicet et octoginta diebus .
ወዝንቱ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ሕልሙ ፡ ወናሁ ፡ ቃል ፡ ወሁከት ፡ ወድልቅልቅ ፡ ወነጐድጓድ ፡ ወጒጒዓ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ምድር ።
He displayed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honor of his excellent majesty many days, even one hundred eighty days.
1:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּבִמְל֣וֹאת ׀ הַיָּמִ֣ים הָאֵ֗לֶּה עָשָׂ֣ה הַמֶּ֡לֶךְ לְכׇל ־הָעָ֣ם הַנִּמְצְאִים֩ בְּשׁוּשַׁ֨ן הַבִּירָ֜ה לְמִגָּד֧וֹל וְעַד ־קָטָ֛ן מִשְׁתֶּ֖ה שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֑ים בַּחֲצַ֕ר גִּנַּ֥ת בִּיתַ֖ן הַמֶּֽלֶךְ ׃
ὅτε δὲ ἀνεπληρώθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ γάμου ἐποίησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς πότον τοῖς ἔθνεσιν τοῖς εὑρεθεῖσιν εἰς τὴν πόλιν ἐπὶ ἡμέρας ἓξ ἐν αὐλῇ οἴκου τοῦ βασιλέως
Cumque implerentur dies convivii , invitavit omnem populum , qui inventus est in Susan , a maximo usque ad minimum : et jussit septem diebus convivium praeparari in vestibulo horti , et nemoris quod regio cultu et manu consitum erat .
ወናሁ ፡ ክልኤቱ ፡ አክይስት ፡ ዓበይት ፡ ድልዋን ፡ መጽኡ ፡ ክልኤሆሙ ፡ ይትጋደሉ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ቃሎሙ ፡ ዓቢየ ።
When these days were fulfilled, the king made a seven day feast for all the people who were present in Susa the palace, both great and small, in the court of the garden of the king’s palace.
1:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ ח֣וּר ׀ כַּרְפַּ֣ס וּתְכֵ֗לֶת אָחוּז֙ בְּחַבְלֵי ־ב֣וּץ וְאַרְגָּמָ֔ן עַל ־גְּלִ֥ילֵי כֶ֖סֶף וְעַמּ֣וּדֵי שֵׁ֑שׁ מִטּ֣וֹת ׀ זָהָ֣ב וָכֶ֗סֶף עַ֛ל רִֽצְפַ֥ת בַּהַט ־וָשֵׁ֖שׁ וְדַ֥ר וְסֹחָֽרֶת ׃
κεκοσμημένῃ βυσσίνοις καὶ καρπασίνοις τεταμένοις ἐπὶ σχοινίοις βυσσίνοις καὶ πορφυροῖς ἐπὶ κύβοις χρυσοῖς καὶ ἀργυροῖς ἐπὶ στύλοις παρίνοις καὶ λιθίνοις κλῖναι χρυσαῖ καὶ ἀργυραῖ ἐπὶ λιθοστρώτου σμαραγδίτου λίθου καὶ πιννίνου καὶ παρίνου λίθου καὶ στρωμναὶ διαφανεῖς ποικίλως διηνθισμέναι κύκλῳ ῥόδα πεπασμένα
Et pendebant ex omni parte tentoria aerii coloris et carbasini ac hyacinthini , sustentata funibus byssinis atque purpureis , qui eburneis circulis inserti erant , et columnis marmoreis fulciebantur . Lectuli quoque aurei et argentei , super pavimentum smaragdino et pario stratum lapide , dispositi erant : quod mira varietate pictura decorabat .
ወበቃለ ፡ ዚአሆሙ ፡ ተደለዉ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ ለፀብዕ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይጽብዕዎሙ ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ ጻድቃን ።
There were hangings of white and blue material, fastened with cords of fine linen and purple to silver rings and marble pillars. The couches were of gold and silver, on a pavement of red, white, yellow, and black marble.
1:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהַשְׁקוֹת֙ בִּכְלֵ֣י זָהָ֔ב וְכֵלִ֖ים מִכֵּלִ֣ים שׁוֹנִ֑ים וְיֵ֥ין מַלְכ֛וּת רָ֖ב כְּיַ֥ד הַמֶּֽלֶךְ ׃
ποτήρια χρυσᾶ καὶ ἀργυρᾶ καὶ ἀνθράκινον κυλίκιον προκείμενον ἀπὸ ταλάντων τρισμυρίων οἶνος πολὺς καὶ ἡδύς ὃν αὐτὸς ὁ βασιλεὺς ἔπινεν
Bibebant autem qui invitati erant aureis poculis , et aliis atque aliis vasis cibi inferebantur . Vinum quoque , ut magnificentia regia dignum erat , abundans , et praecipuum ponebatur .
ወናሁ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ ጽልመት ፡ ወቆባር ፡ ወሥቃይ ፡ ወምንዳቤ ፡ ወሕማም ፡ ወሁከት ፡ ዓቢይ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ።
They gave them drinks in golden vessels of various kinds, including royal wine in abundance, according to the bounty of the king.
1:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהַשְּׁתִיָּ֥ה כַדָּ֖ת אֵ֣ין אֹנֵ֑ס כִּי ־כֵ֣ן ׀ יִסַּ֣ד הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ עַ֚ל כׇּל ־רַ֣ב בֵּית֔וֹ לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת כִּרְצ֥וֹן אִישׁ ־וָאִֽישׁ ׃
ὁ δὲ πότος οὗτος οὐ κατὰ προκείμενον νόμον ἐγένετο οὕτως δὲ ἠθέλησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ἐπέταξεν τοῖς οἰκονόμοις ποιῆσαι τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ καὶ τῶν ἀνθρώπων
Nec erat qui nolentes cogeret ad bibendum , sed sicut rex statuerat , praeponens mensis singulos de principibus suis ut sumeret unusquisque quod vellet .
ወተሀውኩ ፡ ጻድቃን ፡ ወኵሎሙ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ፈርሁ ፡ እምነ ፡ እኪቶሙ ፡ ወተደለዉ ፡ ለተኀጒሎ ።
In accordance with the law, the drinking was not compulsory; for so the king had instructed all the officials of his house, that they should do according to every man’s pleasure.
1:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ גַּ֚ם וַשְׁתִּ֣י הַמַּלְכָּ֔ה עָשְׂתָ֖ה מִשְׁתֵּ֣ה נָשִׁ֑ים בֵּ֚ית הַמַּלְכ֔וּת אֲשֶׁ֖ר לַמֶּ֥לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵרֽוֹשׁ ׃ {ס}
καὶ Αστιν ἡ βασίλισσα ἐποίησε πότον ταῖς γυναιξὶν ἐν τοῖς βασιλείοις ὅπου ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἀρταξέρξης
Vasthi quoque regina fecit convivium feminarum in palatio , ubi rex Assuerus manere consueverat .
ወጸርሑ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወእምነ ፡ ጽራሖሙ ፡ ኮነ ፡ ንስቲት ፡ ነቅዕ ፡ ዘሕይወት ፡ ወነቅዐ ፡ ዐቢይ ፡ ፈለግ ፡ ዘብዙኅ ፡ ማዩ ።
Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to King Ahasuerus.
1:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ בַּיּוֹם֙ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י כְּט֥וֹב לֵב ־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ בַּיָּ֑יִן אָמַ֡ר לִ֠מְהוּמָ֠ן בִּזְּתָ֨א חַרְבוֹנָ֜א בִּגְתָ֤א וַאֲבַגְתָא֙ זֵתַ֣ר וְכַרְכַּ֔ס שִׁבְעַת֙ הַסָּ֣רִיסִ֔ים הַמְשָׁ֣רְתִ֔ים אֶת ־פְּנֵ֖י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵרֽוֹשׁ ׃
ἐν δὲ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ ἡδέως γενόμενος ὁ βασιλεὺς εἶπεν τῷ Αμαν καὶ Βαζαν καὶ Θαρρα καὶ Βωραζη καὶ Ζαθολθα καὶ Αβαταζα καὶ Θαραβα τοῖς ἑπτὰ εὐνούχοις τοῖς διακόνοις τοῦ βασιλέως Ἀρταξέρξου
Itaque die septimo , cum rex esset hilarior , et post nimiam potationem incaluisset mero , praecepit Maumam , et Bazatha , et Harbona , et Bagatha , et Abgatha , et Zethar , et Charchas , septem eunuchis qui in conspectu ejus ministrabant ,
ወብርሃነ ፡ ፀሐይ ፡ ሠረቀ ፡ ላዕሌሃ ፡ ወትሑታን ፡ ተለዓሉ ፡ ወበልዕዎሙ ፡ ለክቡራን ።
On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcass, the seven eunuchs who served in the presence of Ahasuerus the king,
1:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ לְ֠הָבִ֠יא אֶת ־וַשְׁתִּ֧י הַמַּלְכָּ֛ה לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ בְּכֶ֣תֶר מַלְכ֑וּת לְהַרְא֨וֹת הָֽעַמִּ֤ים וְהַשָּׂרִים֙ אֶת ־יׇפְיָ֔הּ כִּֽי ־טוֹבַ֥ת מַרְאֶ֖ה הִֽיא ׃
εἰσαγαγεῖν τὴν βασίλισσαν πρὸς αὐτὸν βασιλεύειν αὐτὴν καὶ περιθεῖναι αὐτῇ τὸ διάδημα καὶ δεῖξαι αὐτὴν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἄρχουσιν καὶ τοῖς ἔθνεσιν τὸ κάλλος αὐτῆς ὅτι καλὴ ἦν
ut introducerent reginam Vasthi coram rege , posito super caput ejus diademate , ut ostenderet cunctis populis et principibus pulchritudinem illius : erat enim pulchra valde .
ወተንሥአ ፡ መርዶክዮስ ፡ ርኢዮ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ሕልመ ፡ እስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ፈቀደ ፡ ይግበር ፡ ወዐቀቦ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ልቡ ፡ ወፈቀደ ፡ ያእምር ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ነገሮ ፡ በሌሊት ።
to bring Vashti the queen before the king wearing the royal crown, to show the people and the princes her beauty; for she was beautiful.
1:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַתְּמָאֵ֞ן הַמַּלְכָּ֣ה וַשְׁתִּ֗י לָבוֹא֙ בִּדְבַ֣ר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּיַ֣ד הַסָּרִיסִ֑ים וַיִּקְצֹ֤ף הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ מְאֹ֔ד וַחֲמָת֖וֹ בָּעֲרָ֥ה בֽוֹ ׃
καὶ οὐκ εἰσήκουσεν αὐτοῦ Αστιν ἡ βασίλισσα ἐλθεῖν μετὰ τῶν εὐνούχων καὶ ἐλυπήθη ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ὠργίσθη
Quae renuit , et ad regis imperium quod per eunuchos mandaverat , venire contempsit . Unde iratus rex , et nimio furore succensus ,
ወነበረ ፡ መርዶክዮስ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዓፀድ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ገቦታ ፡ ወታራ ፡ ክልኤቱ ፡ ሕዕዋኒሁ ፡ ለንጉሥ ፡ እለ ፡ የዐቅቡ ፡ ዓፀደ ፡ ወሀገረ ።
But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s commandment by the eunuchs. Therefore the king was very angry, and his anger burned in him.
1:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לַחֲכָמִ֖ים יֹדְעֵ֣י הָֽעִתִּ֑ים כִּי ־כֵן֙ דְּבַ֣ר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לִפְנֵ֕י כׇּל ־יֹדְעֵ֖י דָּ֥ת וָדִֽין ׃
καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς φίλοις αὐτοῦ κατὰ ταῦτα ἐλάλησεν Αστιν ποιήσατε οὖν περὶ τούτου νόμον καὶ κρίσιν
interrogavit sapientes , qui ex more regio semper ei aderant , et illorum faciebat cuncta consilio , scientium leges , ac jura majorum
ወሰምዐ ፡ ምክሮሙ ፡ ዘይሔልዩ ፡ ወአእመረ ፡ ወጠየቀ ፡ ከመ ፡ አስተዳለዉ ፡ ማዕሌተ ፡ ይቅትልዎ ፡ ለአርጤክስስ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወነገሮ ፡ ለንጉሥ ፡ በእንቲአኮሙ ።
Then the king said to the wise men, who knew the times (for it was the king’s custom to consult those who knew law and judgment;
1:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהַקָּרֹ֣ב אֵלָ֗יו כַּרְשְׁנָ֤א שֵׁתָר֙ אַדְמָ֣תָא תַרְשִׁ֔ישׁ מֶ֥רֶס מַרְסְנָ֖א מְמוּכָ֑ן שִׁבְעַ֞ת שָׂרֵ֣י ׀ פָּרַ֣ס וּמָדַ֗י רֹאֵי֙ פְּנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ הַיֹּשְׁבִ֥ים רִאשֹׁנָ֖ה בַּמַּלְכֽוּת ׃
καὶ προσῆλθεν αὐτῷ Αρκεσαιος καὶ Σαρσαθαιος καὶ Μαλησεαρ οἱ ἄρχοντες Περσῶν καὶ Μήδων οἱ ἐγγὺς τοῦ βασιλέως οἱ πρῶτοι παρακαθήμενοι τῷ βασιλεῖ
(erant autem primi et proximi , Charsena , et Sethar , et Admatha , et Tharsis , et Mares , et Marsana , et Mamuchan , septem duces Persarum , atque Medorum , qui videbant faciem regis , et primi post eum residere soliti erant ) :
ወሐተቶሙ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ለክልኤሆሙ ፡ ሕጽዋኒሁ ፡ ወአምኑ ፡ ወተኰነኑ ።

1:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ כְּדָת֙ מַֽה ־לַּעֲשׂ֔וֹת בַּמַּלְכָּ֖ה וַשְׁתִּ֑י עַ֣ל ׀ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא ־עָשְׂתָ֗ה אֶֽת ־מַאֲמַר֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵר֔וֹשׁ בְּיַ֖ד הַסָּרִיסִֽים ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἀπήγγειλαν αὐτῷ κατὰ τοὺς νόμους ὡς δεῖ ποιῆσαι Αστιν τῇ βασιλίσσῃ ὅτι οὐκ ἐποίησεν τὰ ὑπὸ τοῦ βασιλέως προσταχθέντα διὰ τῶν εὐνούχων
cui sententiae Vasthi regina subjaceret , quae Assueri regis imperium , quod per eunuchos mandaverat , facere noluisset .
ወጸሐፎ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ለዝንቱ ፡ ነገር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ተዝካረ ፡ ኖብያት ፡ ወመርክድዮስኒ ፡ ጸሐፎ ።
“What shall we do to Queen Vashti according to law, because she has not done the bidding of the King Ahasuerus by the eunuchs?”
1:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (מומכן ) [מְמוּכָ֗ן ] לִפְנֵ֤י הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ וְהַשָּׂרִ֔ים לֹ֤א עַל ־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ לְבַדּ֔וֹ עָוְתָ֖ה וַשְׁתִּ֣י הַמַּלְכָּ֑ה כִּ֤י עַל ־כׇּל ־הַשָּׂרִים֙ וְעַל ־כׇּל ־הָ֣עַמִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֕ר בְּכׇל ־מְדִינ֖וֹת הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵרֽוֹשׁ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ Μουχαιος πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας οὐ τὸν βασιλέα μόνον ἠδίκησεν Αστιν ἡ βασίλισσα ἀλλὰ καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ τοὺς ἡγουμένους τοῦ βασιλέως
Responditque Mamuchan , audiente rege atque principibus : Non solum regem laesit regina Vasthi , sed et omnes populos et principes qui sunt in cunctis provinciis regis Assueri .
ወአዘዞ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ለመርዶክዮስ ፡ ይፀመድ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዓፀድ ፡ ወፈተቶ ፡ በበይነ ፡ ዝንቱ ።
Memucan answered before the king and the princes, “Vashti the queen has not done wrong to just the king, but also to all the princes, and to all the people who are in all the provinces of the King Ahasuerus.
1:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּֽי ־יֵצֵ֤א דְבַר ־הַמַּלְכָּה֙ עַל ־כׇּל ־הַנָּשִׁ֔ים לְהַבְז֥וֹת בַּעְלֵיהֶ֖ן בְּעֵינֵיהֶ֑ן בְּאׇמְרָ֗ם הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵר֡וֹשׁ אָמַ֞ר לְהָבִ֨יא אֶת ־וַשְׁתִּ֧י הַמַּלְכָּ֛ה לְפָנָ֖יו וְלֹא ־בָֽאָה ׃
καὶ γὰρ διηγήσατο αὐτοῖς τὰ ῥήματα τῆς βασιλίσσης καὶ ὡς ἀντεῖπεν τῷ βασιλεῖ ὡς οὖν ἀντεῖπεν τῷ βασιλεῖ Ἀρταξέρξῃ
Egredietur enim sermo reginae ad omnes mulieres , ut contemnant viros suos , et dicant : Rex Assuerus jussit ut regina Vasthi intraret ad eum , et illa noluit .
ወሐማሰ ፡ እስመ ፡ ልደቱ ፡ አግያዊ ፡ ክቡር ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወየቀውም ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወይፈቅድ ፡ ይግበር ፡ እኪተ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ መርዶክዮስ ፡ ወላዕለ ፡ ሕዝቡ ፡ በእንተ ፡ እልክቱ ፡ ክልኤቱ ፡ ሕፅዋኒሁ ፡ ለንጉሥ ።
For this deed of the queen will become known to all women, causing them to show contempt for their husbands when it is reported, ‘King Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she didn’t come.’
1:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְֽהַיּ֨וֹם הַזֶּ֜ה תֹּאמַ֣רְנָה ׀ שָׂר֣וֹת פָּֽרַס ־וּמָדַ֗י אֲשֶׁ֤ר שָֽׁמְעוּ֙ אֶת ־דְּבַ֣ר הַמַּלְכָּ֔ה לְכֹ֖ל שָׂרֵ֣י הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וּכְדַ֖י בִּזָּי֥וֹן וָקָֽצֶף ׃
οὕτως σήμερον αἱ τυραννίδες αἱ λοιπαὶ τῶν ἀρχόντων Περσῶν καὶ Μήδων ἀκούσασαι τὰ τῷ βασιλεῖ λεχθέντα ὑπ’ αὐτῆς τολμήσουσιν ὁμοίως ἀτιμάσαι τοὺς ἄνδρας αὐτῶν
Atque hoc exemplo omnes principum conjuges Persarum atque Medorum parvipendent imperia maritorum : unde regis justa est indignatio .
— Today, the princesses of Persia and Media who have heard of the queen’s deed will tell all the king’s princes. This will cause much contempt and wrath.
1:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ אִם ־עַל ־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ ט֗וֹב יֵצֵ֤א דְבַר ־מַלְכוּת֙ מִלְּפָנָ֔יו וְיִכָּתֵ֛ב בְּדָתֵ֥י פָֽרַס ־וּמָדַ֖י וְלֹ֣א יַעֲב֑וֹר אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹֽא ־תָב֜וֹא וַשְׁתִּ֗י לִפְנֵי֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵר֔וֹשׁ וּמַלְכוּתָהּ֙ יִתֵּ֣ן הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לִרְעוּתָ֖הּ הַטּוֹבָ֥ה מִמֶּֽנָּה ׃
εἰ οὖν δοκεῖ τῷ βασιλεῖ προσταξάτω βασιλικόν καὶ γραφήτω κατὰ τοὺς νόμους Μήδων καὶ Περσῶν καὶ μὴ ἄλλως χρησάσθω μηδὲ εἰσελθάτω ἔτι ἡ βασίλισσα πρὸς αὐτόν καὶ τὴν βασιλείαν αὐτῆς δότω ὁ βασιλεὺς γυναικὶ κρείττονι αὐτῆς
Si tibi placet , egrediatur edictum a facie tua , et scribatur juxta legem Persarum atque Medorum , quam praeteriri illicitum est , ut nequaquam ultra Vasthi ingrediatur ad regem , sed regnum illius altera , quae melior est illa , accipiat .
— “If it pleases the king, let a royal commandment go from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, so that it cannot be altered, that Vashti may never again come before King Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate to another who is better than she.
1:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְנִשְׁמַע֩ פִּתְגָ֨ם הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ אֲשֶֽׁר ־יַעֲשֶׂה֙ בְּכׇל ־מַלְכוּת֔וֹ כִּ֥י רַבָּ֖ה הִ֑יא וְכׇל ־הַנָּשִׁ֗ים יִתְּנ֤וּ יְקָר֙ לְבַעְלֵיהֶ֔ן לְמִגָּד֖וֹל וְעַד ־קָטָֽן ׃
καὶ ἀκουσθήτω ὁ νόμος ὁ ὑπὸ τοῦ βασιλέως ὃν ἐὰν ποιῇ ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ καὶ οὕτως πᾶσαι αἱ γυναῖκες περιθήσουσιν τιμὴν τοῖς ἀνδράσιν ἑαυτῶν ἀπὸ πτωχοῦ ἕως πλουσίου
Et hoc in omne (quod latissimum est ) provinciarum tuarum divulgetur imperium , et cunctae uxores , tam majorum quam minorum , deferant maritis suis honorem .
— When the king’s decree which he shall make is published throughout all his kingdom (for it is great), all the wives will give their husbands honor, both great and small.”
1:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּיטַב֙ הַדָּבָ֔ר בְּעֵינֵ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וְהַשָּׂרִ֑ים וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ כִּדְבַ֥ר מְמוּכָֽן ׃
καὶ ἤρεσεν ὁ λόγος τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ τοῖς ἄρχουσι καὶ ἐποίησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς καθὰ ἐλάλησεν ὁ Μουχαιος
Placuit consilium ejus regi et principibus : fecitque rex juxta consilium Mamuchan ,
— This advice pleased the king and the princes, and the king did according to the word of Memucan:
1:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח סְפָרִים֙ אֶל ־כׇּל ־מְדִינ֣וֹת הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אֶל ־מְדִינָ֤ה וּמְדִינָה֙ כִּכְתָבָ֔הּ וְאֶל ־עַ֥ם וָעָ֖ם כִּלְשׁוֹנ֑וֹ לִהְי֤וֹת כׇּל ־אִישׁ֙ שֹׂרֵ֣ר בְּבֵית֔וֹ וּמְדַבֵּ֖ר כִּלְשׁ֥וֹן עַמּֽוֹ ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν εἰς πᾶσαν τὴν βασιλείαν κατὰ χώραν κατὰ τὴν λέξιν αὐτῶν ὥστε εἶναι φόβον αὐτοῖς ἐν ταῖς οἰκίαις αὐτῶν
et misit epistolas ad universas provincias regni sui , ut quaeque gens audire et legere poterat , diversis linguis et litteris , esse viros principes ac majores in domibus suis : et hoc per cunctos populos divulgari .
— for he sent letters into all the king’s provinces, into every province according to its writing, and to every people in their language, that every man should rule his own house, speaking in the language of his own people.
