58:1
קְרָ֤א בְגָרוֹן֙ אַל־תַּחְשֹׂ֔ךְ כַּשּׁוֹפָ֖ר הָרֵ֣ם קוֹלֶ֑ךָ וְהַגֵּ֤ד לְעַמִּי֙ פִּשְׁעָ֔ם וּלְבֵ֥ית יַעֲקֹ֖ב חַטֹּאתָֽם׃
ἀναβόησον ἐν ἰσχύι καὶ μὴ φείσῃ ὡς σάλπιγγα ὕψωσον τὴν φωνήν σου καὶ ἀνάγγειλον τῷ λαῷ μου τὰ ἁμαρτήματα αὐτῶν καὶ τῷ οἴκῳ Ιακωβ τὰς ἀνομίας αὐτῶν
Clama, ne cesses, quasi tuba exalta vocem tuam, et annuntia populo meo scelera eorum, et domui Jacob peccata eorum.
ክላሕ፡ በኃይልከ፡ ወኢትምሐክ፤ ወአዕቢ፡ ቃለከ፡ ከመ፡ ቀርን፡ ወንግሮሙ፡ ለሕዝብየ፡ ኃጢአቶሙ፡ ወለቤተ፡ ያዕቆብ፡ ጌጋዮሙ።
“Cry aloud! Don’t spare! Lift up your voice like a trumpet! Declare to my people their disobedience, and to the house of Jacob their sins.
58:2
וְאוֹתִ֗י י֥וֹם יוֹם֙ יִדְרֹשׁ֔וּן וְדַ֥עַת דְּרָכַ֖י יֶחְפָּצ֑וּן כְּג֞וֹי אֲשֶׁר־צְדָקָ֣ה עָשָׂ֗ה וּמִשְׁפַּ֤ט אֱלֹהָיו֙ לֹ֣א עָזָ֔ב יִשְׁאָל֙וּנִי֙ מִשְׁפְּטֵי־צֶ֔דֶק קִרְבַ֥ת אֱלֹהִ֖ים יֶחְפָּצֽוּן׃
ἐμὲ ἡμέραν ἐξ ἡμέρας ζητοῦσιν καὶ γνῶναί μου τὰς ὁδοὺς ἐπιθυμοῦσιν ὡς λαὸς δικαιοσύνην πεποιηκὼς καὶ κρίσιν θεοῦ αὐτοῦ μὴ ἐγκαταλελοιπὼς αἰτοῦσίν με νῦν κρίσιν δικαίαν καὶ ἐγγίζειν θεῷ ἐπιθυμοῦσιν
Me etenim de die in diem quaerunt, et scire vias meas volunt, quasi gens quae justitiam fecerit, et judicium Dei sui non dereliquerit. Rogant me judicia justitiae ; appropinquare Deo volunt.
ኪያየኒ፡ የኀሥሡኒ፡ እምዕለት፡ ዕለተ፡ ወይፈትዉ፡ ያእምሩ፡ ፍናውየ፡ ከመ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ዘይገብር፡ ጽድቀ፡ ወከመ፡ ዘኢየኀድግ፡ ፍትሐ፡ አምላኩ።
Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways. As a nation that did righteousness, and didn’t forsake the ordinance of their God, they ask of me righteous judgments. They delight to draw near to God.
58:3
לָ֤מָּה צַּ֙מְנוּ֙ וְלֹ֣א רָאִ֔יתָ עִנִּ֥ינוּ נַפְשֵׁ֖נוּ וְלֹ֣א תֵדָ֑ע הֵ֣ן בְּי֤וֹם צֹֽמְכֶם֙ תִּמְצְאוּ־חֵ֔פֶץ וְכׇל־עַצְּבֵיכֶ֖ם תִּנְגֹּֽשׂוּ׃
λέγοντες τί ὅτι ἐνηστεύσαμεν καὶ οὐκ εἶδες ἐταπεινώσαμεν τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν καὶ οὐκ ἔγνως ἐν γὰρ ταῖς ἡμέραις τῶν νηστειῶν ὑμῶν εὑρίσκετε τὰ θελήματα ὑμῶν καὶ πάντας τοὺς ὑποχειρίους ὑμῶν ὑπονύσσετε
Quare jejunavimus, et non aspexisti ; humiliavimus animas nostras, et nescisti ? Ecce in die jejunii vestri invenitur voluntas vestra, et omnes debitores vestros repetitis.
ወይብሉ፤ በእፎ፡ ጾምነሂ፡ ወኢርኢከነ፤ ወአሕመምነ፡ ነፍሰነ፡ ወኢያእመርከነ፤ እስመ፡ አመ፡ ጾምክሙ፡ ትገብሩ፡ ፈቃደክሙ፡ ወትትፈደዩ፡ ዕዳክሙ።
‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and you don’t see? Why have we afflicted our soul, and you don’t notice?’ “Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, and oppress all your laborers.
58:4
הֵ֣ן לְרִ֤יב וּמַצָּה֙ תָּצ֔וּמוּ וּלְהַכּ֖וֹת בְּאֶגְרֹ֣ף רֶ֑שַׁע לֹא־תָצ֣וּמוּ כַיּ֔וֹם לְהַשְׁמִ֥יעַ בַּמָּר֖וֹם קוֹלְכֶֽם׃
εἰ εἰς κρίσεις καὶ μάχας νηστεύετε καὶ τύπτετε πυγμαῖς ταπεινόν ἵνα τί μοι νηστεύετε ὡς σήμερον ἀκουσθῆναι ἐν κραυγῇ τὴν φωνὴν ὑμῶν
Ecce ad lites et contentiones jejunatis, et percutitis pugno impie. Nolite jejunare sicut usque ad hanc diem, ut audiatur in excelso clamor vester.
ትሰክዩ፡ ወትትዋቀሡ፡ ወትትላኰዩ፡ ወትትጋአዙ፡ ወትጸውሙ፡ ወትዘብጡ፡ ወትትዔገሉ፡ ነዳየ፤ ለምንትኑኬ፡ ትጸውሙ፡ ሊተ፡ ከመ፡ ዮም፡ እንዘ፡ ታግዕሩ፡ ወታአወይዉ፡ ነዳየ።
Behold, you fast for strife and contention, and to strike with the fist of wickedness. You don’t fast today so as to make your voice to be heard on high.
58:5
הֲכָזֶ֗ה יִֽהְיֶה֙ צ֣וֹם אֶבְחָרֵ֔הוּ י֛וֹם עַנּ֥וֹת אָדָ֖ם נַפְשׁ֑וֹ הֲלָכֹ֨ף כְּאַגְמֹ֜ן רֹאשׁ֗וֹ וְשַׂ֤ק וָאֵ֙פֶר֙ יַצִּ֔יעַ הֲלָזֶה֙ תִּקְרָא־צ֔וֹם וְי֥וֹם רָצ֖וֹן לַיהֹוָֽה׃
οὐ ταύτην τὴν νηστείαν ἐξελεξάμην καὶ ἡμέραν ταπεινοῦν ἄνθρωπον τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ οὐδ’ ἂν κάμψῃς ὡς κρίκον τὸν τράχηλόν σου καὶ σάκκον καὶ σποδὸν ὑποστρώσῃ οὐδ’ οὕτως καλέσετε νηστείαν δεκτήν
Numquid tale est jejunium quod elegi, per diem affligere hominem animam suam ? numquid contorquere quasi circulum caput suum, et saccum et cinerem sternere ? numquid istud vocabis jejunium, et diem acceptabilem Domino ?
አኮኬ፡ ዘንተ፡ ጾመ፡ ዘኀረይኩ፡ ወአኮ፡ ከመ፡ ዛቲ፡ ዕለት፡ ዘያሐምም፡ ነፍሶ፡ ሰብእ፣፡ ወኢእመ፡ አቍጠጠ፡ ክሳዶ፡ ከመ፡ ኅልቀት፡ ወሰከበ፡ ውስተ፡ ሠቅ፡ ወሐመድ፣፡ ኢኮነ፡ ኅሩየ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ጾም፡ በኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
Is this the fast that I have chosen? A day for a man to humble his soul? Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under himself? Will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to Yahweh?
58:6
הֲל֣וֹא זֶה֮ צ֣וֹם אֶבְחָרֵ֒הוּ֒ פַּתֵּ֙חַ֙ חַרְצֻבּ֣וֹת רֶ֔שַׁע הַתֵּ֖ר אֲגֻדּ֣וֹת מוֹטָ֑ה וְשַׁלַּ֤ח רְצוּצִים֙ חׇפְשִׁ֔ים וְכׇל־מוֹטָ֖ה תְּנַתֵּֽקוּ׃
οὐχὶ τοιαύτην νηστείαν ἐγὼ ἐξελεξάμην λέγει κύριος ἀλλὰ λῦε πάντα σύνδεσμον ἀδικίας διάλυε στραγγαλιὰς βιαίων συναλλαγμάτων ἀπόστελλε τεθραυσμένους ἐν ἀφέσει καὶ πᾶσαν συγγραφὴν ἄδικον διάσπα
Nonne hoc est magis jejunium quod elegi ? Dissolve colligationes impietatis, solve fasciculos deprimentes, dimitte eos qui confracti sunt liberos, et omne onus dirumpe ;
ወአኮ፡ ዘንተ፡ ጾመ፡ ዘኀረይኩ፡ አነ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዳእሙ፡ ፍታሕ፡ ኵሎ፡ ማእሰረ፡ ዓመፃ፣፡ ወዕርቅ፡ ወአርትዕ፡ ኵሎ፡ ጠዋየ፡ ወባልሕ፡ ኵሎ፡ ምንዱበ፡ ወኅድግ፡ ኵሎ፡ መጽሐፈ፡ ዓመፃ።
“Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen: to release the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?
58:7
הֲל֨וֹא פָרֹ֤ס לָרָעֵב֙ לַחְמֶ֔ךָ וַעֲנִיִּ֥ים מְרוּדִ֖ים תָּ֣בִיא בָ֑יִת כִּֽי־תִרְאֶ֤ה עָרֹם֙ וְכִסִּית֔וֹ וּמִבְּשָׂרְךָ֖ לֹ֥א תִתְעַלָּֽם׃
διάθρυπτε πεινῶντι τὸν ἄρτον σου καὶ πτωχοὺς ἀστέγους εἴσαγε εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου ἐὰν ἴδῃς γυμνόν περίβαλε καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν οἰκείων τοῦ σπέρματός σου οὐχ ὑπερόψῃ
frange esurienti panem tuum, et egenos vagosque induc in domum tuam ; cum videris nudum, operi eum, et carnem tuam ne despexeris.
ወአጽግቦ፡ ለርኁብ፡ እምእክልክ፣፡ ወአብእ፡ ነዳየ፡ ወአኅድሮ፡ ውስተ፡ ጽላሎተ፡ ቤትከ።
Isn’t it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?
58:8
אָ֣ז יִבָּקַ֤ע כַּשַּׁ֙חַר֙ אוֹרֶ֔ךָ וַאֲרֻֽכָתְךָ֖ מְהֵרָ֣ה תִצְמָ֑ח וְהָלַ֤ךְ לְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙ צִדְקֶ֔ךָ כְּב֥וֹד יְהֹוָ֖ה יַאַסְפֶֽךָ׃
τότε ῥαγήσεται πρόιμον τὸ φῶς σου καὶ τὰ ἰάματά σου ταχὺ ἀνατελεῖ καὶ προπορεύσεται ἔμπροσθέν σου ἡ δικαιοσύνη σου καὶ ἡ δόξα τοῦ θεοῦ περιστελεῖ σε
Tunc erumpet quasi mane lumen tuum ; et sanitas tua citius orietur, et anteibit faciem tuam justitia tua, et gloria Domini colliget te.
ወይገውሕ፡ ሶቤሃ፡ ብርሃንከ፡ ወይሠርቅ፡ ፍጡነ፡ አልባሲከ፤ ወየሐውር፡ ጽድቅከ፡ ቅድመ፡ ገጽከ፡ ወስብሐተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ይከድነከ።
Then your light will break out as the morning, and your healing will appear quickly; then your righteousness shall go before you, and Yahweh’s glory will be your rear guard.
58:9
אָ֤ז תִּקְרָא֙ וַיהֹוָ֣ה יַעֲנֶ֔ה תְּשַׁוַּ֖ע וְיֹאמַ֣ר הִנֵּ֑נִי אִם־תָּסִ֤יר מִתּֽוֹכְךָ֙ מוֹטָ֔ה שְׁלַ֥ח אֶצְבַּ֖ע וְדַבֶּר־אָֽוֶן׃
τότε βοήσῃ καὶ ὁ θεὸς εἰσακούσεταί σου ἔτι λαλοῦντός σου ἐρεῖ ἰδοὺ πάρειμι ἐὰν ἀφέλῃς ἀπὸ σοῦ σύνδεσμον καὶ χειροτονίαν καὶ ῥῆμα γογγυσμοῦ
Tunc invocabis, et Dominus exaudiet ; clamabis, et dicet : Ecce adsum. Si abstuleris de medio tui catenam, et desieris extendere digitum et loqui quod non prodest ;
ሶቤሃኬ፡ ይሰምዐከ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ በጊዜ፡ አውየውከ፤ ወእንዘሂ፡ ትነብብ፣፡ ነየ፡ ሀለውኩ፡ ይብለከ፤ እምከመ፡ አእተትከ፡ እምላዕሌከ፡ መአስረ፡ ዓመፃ፡ ወነጐርጓረ።
Then you will call, and Yahweh will answer. You will cry for help, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’ “If you take away from among you the yoke, finger pointing, and speaking wickedly;
58:10
וְתָפֵ֤ק לָֽרָעֵב֙ נַפְשֶׁ֔ךָ וְנֶ֥פֶשׁ נַעֲנָ֖ה תַּשְׂבִּ֑יעַ וְזָרַ֤ח בַּחֹ֙שֶׁךְ֙ אוֹרֶ֔ךָ וַאֲפֵלָתְךָ֖ כַּֽצׇּהֳרָֽיִם׃
καὶ δῷς πεινῶντι τὸν ἄρτον ἐκ ψυχῆς σου καὶ ψυχὴν τεταπεινωμένην ἐμπλήσῃς τότε ἀνατελεῖ ἐν τῷ σκότει τὸ φῶς σου καὶ τὸ σκότος σου ὡς μεσημβρία
cum effuderis esurienti animam tuam, et animam afflictam repleveris, orietur in tenebris lux tua, et tenebrae tuae erunt sicut meridies.
ወለእመ፡ ኢዘበጥከ፡ ወአንከይከ፡ እምሲሳየ፡ ነፍስከ፡ ወአፍአምኮ፡ ለነዳይ፣፡ ወለእመ፡ እጽገብከ፡ ነፍሰ፡ ርኅብተ፤ ሶቤሃ፡ ይሠርቅ፡ ማእከለ፡ ጽልመት፡ ብርሃንከ፡ ወይከውነከ፡ ጽልመትከ፡ ከመ፡ ብርሃነ፡ መዓልተ።
and if you pour out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light will rise in darkness, and your obscurity will be as the noonday;
58:11
וְנָחֲךָ֣ יְהֹוָה֮ תָּמִיד֒ וְהִשְׂבִּ֤יעַ בְּצַחְצָחוֹת֙ נַפְשֶׁ֔ךָ וְעַצְמֹתֶ֖יךָ יַחֲלִ֑יץ וְהָיִ֙יתָ֙ כְּגַ֣ן רָוֶ֔ה וּכְמוֹצָ֣א מַ֔יִם אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־יְכַזְּב֖וּ מֵימָֽיו׃
καὶ ἔσται ὁ θεός σου μετὰ σοῦ διὰ παντός καὶ ἐμπλησθήσῃ καθάπερ ἐπιθυμεῖ ἡ ψυχή σου καὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ σου πιανθήσεται καὶ ἔσῃ ὡς κῆπος μεθύων καὶ ὡς πηγὴ ἣν μὴ ἐξέλιπεν ὕδωρ καὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ σου ὡς βοτάνη ἀνατελεῖ καὶ πιανθήσεται καὶ κληρονομήσουσι γενεὰς γενεῶν
Et requiem tibi dabit Dominus semper, et implebit splendoribus animam tuam, et ossa tua liberabit ; et eris quasi hortus irriguus, et sicut fons aquarum cujus non deficient aquae.
ወይሄሉ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ምስሌከ፡ ወትረ፤ ወየያጸግበከ፡ እምፍትወተ፡ ነፍስከ፣፡ ወያጠልለከ፡ አዕፅምቲከ፡ ወትከውን፡ ከመ፡ ገነት፡ ርውይት፡ ወከመ፡ ዐዘቅት፡ ዘኢይነፅፍ፡ ማዩ።
and Yahweh will guide you continually, satisfy your soul in dry places, and make your bones strong. You will be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters don’t fail.
58:12
וּבָנ֤וּ מִמְּךָ֙ חׇרְב֣וֹת עוֹלָ֔ם מוֹסְדֵ֥י דוֹר־וָד֖וֹר תְּקוֹמֵ֑ם וְקֹרָ֤א לְךָ֙ גֹּדֵ֣ר פֶּ֔רֶץ מְשֹׁבֵ֥ב נְתִיב֖וֹת לָשָֽׁבֶת׃
καὶ οἰκοδομηθήσονταί σου αἱ ἔρημοι αἰώνιοι καὶ ἔσται σου τὰ θεμέλια αἰώνια γενεῶν γενεαῖς καὶ κληθήσῃ οἰκοδόμος φραγμῶν καὶ τοὺς τρίβους τοὺς ἀνὰ μέσον παύσεις
Et aedificabuntur in te deserta saeculorum, fundamenta generationis et generationis suscitabis ; et vocaberis aedificator sepium, avertens semitas in quietem.
ወይትሐነጽ፡ መዝብርከ፡ ዘለዓለም፡ ወይከውን፡ መሠረትከ፡ ለትውልደ፡ ትውልድ፡ ወለዓለመ፡ ዓለም፣፡ ወትሰመይ፡ ሐናጼ፡ ጥቅም፡ ወጸያሔ፡ ፍኖት፡ ለኀዲር።
Those who will be of you will build the old waste places. You will raise up the foundations of many generations. You will be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Paths with Dwellings.
58:13
אִם־תָּשִׁ֤יב מִשַּׁבָּת֙ רַגְלֶ֔ךָ עֲשׂ֥וֹת חֲפָצֶ֖ךָ בְּי֣וֹם קׇדְשִׁ֑י וְקָרָ֨אתָ לַשַּׁבָּ֜ת עֹ֗נֶג לִקְד֤וֹשׁ יְהֹוָה֙ מְכֻבָּ֔ד וְכִבַּדְתּוֹ֙ מֵעֲשׂ֣וֹת דְּרָכֶ֔יךָ מִמְּצ֥וֹא חֶפְצְךָ֖ וְדַבֵּ֥ר דָּבָֽר׃
ἐὰν ἀποστρέψῃς τὸν πόδα σου ἀπὸ τῶν σαββάτων τοῦ μὴ ποιεῖν τὰ θελήματά σου ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἁγίᾳ καὶ καλέσεις τὰ σάββατα τρυφερά ἅγια τῷ θεῷ σου οὐκ ἀρεῖς τὸν πόδα σου ἐπ’ ἔργῳ οὐδὲ λαλήσεις λόγον ἐν ὀργῇ ἐκ τοῦ στόματός σου
Si averteris a sabbato pedem tuum facere voluntatem tuam in die sancto meo, et vocaveris sabbatum delicatum, et sanctum Domini gloriosum, et glorificaveris eum dum non facis vias tuas, et non invenitur voluntas tua, ut loquaris sermonem :
ለእመ፡ ሜጥከ፡ እግረከ፡ በሰንበት፡ ከመ፡ ኢትግበር፡ ፈቃደከ፡ በዕለት፡ ቅድስት፡ ወትሬስዮን፡ ትፍሥሕተ፡ ለሰንበታት፡ ወቀደስከኮን፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፤ ኢታንሥእ፡ እግረከ፡ ለገቢረ፡ ኵሉ፡ ፈቃድከ፡ ዘእኩይ፡ ወኢታውሥእ፡ ቃለ፡ ሕሡመ፡ እምአፈፉከ።
“If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, and the holy of Yahweh honorable, and honor it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words,
58:14
אָ֗ז תִּתְעַנַּג֙ עַל־יְהֹוָ֔ה וְהִרְכַּבְתִּ֖יךָ עַל־[בָּ֣מֳתֵי] (במותי) אָ֑רֶץ וְהַאֲכַלְתִּ֗יךָ נַחֲלַת֙ יַעֲקֹ֣ב אָבִ֔יךָ כִּ֛י פִּ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר׃ {פ}
καὶ ἔσῃ πεποιθὼς ἐπὶ κύριον καὶ ἀναβιβάσει σε ἐπὶ τὰ ἀγαθὰ τῆς γῆς καὶ ψωμιεῖ σε τὴν κληρονομίαν Ιακωβ τοῦ πατρός σου τὸ γὰρ στόμα κυρίου ἐλάλησεν ταῦτα
tunc delectaberis super Domino, et sustollam te super altitudines terrae, et cibabo te haereditate Jacob patris tui : os enim Domini locutum est.
ወተወከል፡ በእግዚአብሔር፡ ወያዐርገከ፡ ዲበ፡ በረከታ፡ ለምድር፡ ወይሴስየከ፡ ርስተ፡ ያዕቆብ፡ አቡከ፤ እስመ፡ አፉሁ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ነበበ፡ ከመዝ።
then you will delight yourself in Yahweh, and I will make you to ride on the high places of the earth, and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father;” for Yahweh’s mouth has spoken it.
