2:1
אֵיכָה֩ יָעִ֨יב בְּאַפּ֤וֹ׀אֲדֹנָי֙ אֶת־בַּת־צִיּ֔וֹן הִשְׁלִ֤יךְ מִשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ אֶ֔רֶץ תִּפְאֶ֖רֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְלֹא־זָכַ֥ר הֲדֹם־רַגְלָ֖יו בְּי֥וֹם אַפּֽוֹ׃ {ס}
πῶς ἐγνόφωσεν ἐν ὀργῇ αὐτοῦ κύριος τὴν θυγατέρα Σιων κατέρριψεν ἐξ οὐρανοῦ εἰς γῆν δόξασμα Ισραηλ καὶ οὐκ ἐμνήσθη ὑποποδίου ποδῶν αὐτοῦ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ὀργῆς αὐτοῦ
Quomodo obtexit caligine in furore suo Dominus filiam Sion ; projecit de caelo in terram inclytam Israël, et non est recordatus scabelli pedum suorum in die furoris sui !
አሌፍ። እፎኬ፡ አደመና፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ በመቅሠፍተ፡ መዐቱ፡ ለወለተ፡ ጽዮን፡ ወነፅኆ፡ እምሰማይ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ለክብረ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወኢተዘከረ፡ መከየደ፡ እገሪሁ፡ በዕለተ፡ መዐቱ።
How has the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger! He has cast the beauty of Israel down from heaven to the earth, and hasn’t remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.
2:2
בִּלַּ֨ע אֲדֹנָ֜י (לא) [וְלֹ֣א] חָמַ֗ל אֵ֚ת כׇּל־נְא֣וֹת יַעֲקֹ֔ב הָרַ֧ס בְּעֶבְרָת֛וֹ מִבְצְרֵ֥י בַת־יְהוּדָ֖ה הִגִּ֣יעַ לָאָ֑רֶץ חִלֵּ֥ל מַמְלָכָ֖ה וְשָׂרֶֽיהָ׃ {ס}
κατεπόντισεν κύριος οὐ φεισάμενος πάντα τὰ ὡραῖα Ιακωβ καθεῖλεν ἐν θυμῷ αὐτοῦ τὰ ὀχυρώματα τῆς θυγατρὸς Ιουδα ἐκόλλησεν εἰς τὴν γῆν ἐβεβήλωσεν βασιλέα αὐτῆς καὶ ἄρχοντας αὐτῆς
Praecipitavit Dominus, nec pepercit omnia speciosa Jacob : destruxit in furore suo munitiones virginis Juda, et dejecit in terram ; polluit regnum et principes ejus.
ቤት። አሥጠመ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወኢመሐከ፡ ኵሎ፡ መሠንዮ፡ ለያዕቆብ፡ ወአንኀለ፡ በመዐቱ፡ አጽዋኒሃ፡ ለወለተ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ወአጥበቃ፡ በምድር፡ ወአርኰሰ፡ መንግሥታ፡ ወምኵናኒሃ።
The Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob without pity. He has thrown down in his wrath the strongholds of the daughter of Judah. He has brought them down to the ground. He has profaned the kingdom and its princes.
2:3
גָּדַ֣ע בׇּֽחֳרִי־אַ֗ף כֹּ֚ל קֶ֣רֶן יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הֵשִׁ֥יב אָח֛וֹר יְמִינ֖וֹ מִפְּנֵ֣י אוֹיֵ֑ב וַיִּבְעַ֤ר בְּיַעֲקֹב֙ כְּאֵ֣שׁ לֶֽהָבָ֔ה אָכְלָ֖ה סָבִֽיב׃ {ס}
συνέκλασεν ἐν ὀργῇ θυμοῦ αὐτοῦ πᾶν κέρας Ισραηλ ἀπέστρεψεν ὀπίσω δεξιὰν αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ προσώπου ἐχθροῦ καὶ ἀνῆψεν ἐν Ιακωβ ὡς πῦρ φλόγα καὶ κατέφαγεν πάντα τὰ κύκλῳ
Confregit in ira furoris sui omne cornu Israël ; avertit retrorsum dexteram suam a facie inimici, et succendit in Jacob quasi ignem flammae devorantis in gyro.
ጋሜል። ቀጥቀጠ፡ በመዐቱ፡ ኵሎ፡ ቀርነ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወሜጠ፡ ድኅረ፡ የማኖ፡ እምገጸ፡ ፀር። ወአንደደ፡ ላዕለ፡ ያዕቆብ፡ ነበልባለ፡ እሳት፡ ወበልዐ፡ ኵሎ፡ ዘዐውዱ።
He has cut off all the horn of Israel in fierce anger. He has drawn back his right hand from before the enemy. He has burned up Jacob like a flaming fire, which devours all around.
2:4
דָּרַ֨ךְ קַשְׁתּ֜וֹ כְּאוֹיֵ֗ב נִצָּ֤ב יְמִינוֹ֙ כְּצָ֔ר וַֽיַּהֲרֹ֔ג כֹּ֖ל מַחֲמַדֵּי־עָ֑יִן בְּאֹ֙הֶל֙ בַּת־צִיּ֔וֹן שָׁפַ֥ךְ כָּאֵ֖שׁ חֲמָתֽוֹ׃ {ס}
ἐνέτεινεν τόξον αὐτοῦ ὡς ἐχθρός ἐστερέωσεν δεξιὰν αὐτοῦ ὡς ὑπεναντίος καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν πάντα τὰ ἐπιθυμήματα ὀφθαλμῶν μου ἐν σκηνῇ θυγατρὸς Σιων ἐξέχεεν ὡς πῦρ τὸν θυμὸν αὐτοῦ
Tetendit arcum suum quasi inimicus, firmavit dexteram suam quasi hostis, et occidit omne quod pulchrum erat visu in tabernaculo filiae Sion ; effudit quasi ignem indignationem suam.
ዳሌጥ። ወሰቀ፡ ቀስቶ፡ ከመ፡ ፀር፡ ወከመ፡ ጸላኢ፡ አጽንዐ፡ የማኖ፡ ከመ፡ እድው። ወቀተለ፡ ኵሎ፡ ዘያፈትዋ፡ ለዐይንየ፡ በተዐይኒሃ፡ ለወለተ፡ ጽዮን። ከዐወ፡ መዐቶ፡ ከመ፡ እሳት።
He has bent his bow like an enemy. He has stood with his right hand as an adversary. He has killed all that were pleasant to the eye. In the tent of the daughter of Zion, he has poured out his wrath like fire.
2:5
הָיָ֨ה אֲדֹנָ֤י׀כְּאוֹיֵב֙ בִּלַּ֣ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בִּלַּע֙ כׇּל־אַרְמְנוֹתֶ֔יהָ שִׁחֵ֖ת מִבְצָרָ֑יו וַיֶּ֙רֶב֙ בְּבַת־יְהוּדָ֔ה תַּאֲנִיָּ֖ה וַאֲנִיָּֽה׃ {ס}
ἐγενήθη κύριος ὡς ἐχθρός κατεπόντισεν Ισραηλ κατεπόντισεν πάσας τὰς βάρεις αὐτῆς διέφθειρεν τὰ ὀχυρώματα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπλήθυνεν τῇ θυγατρὶ Ιουδα ταπεινουμένην καὶ τεταπεινωμένην
Factus est Dominus velut inimicus, praecipitavit Israël : praecipitavit omnia moenia ejus, dissipavit munitiones ejus, et replevit in filia Juda humiliatum et humiliatam.
ሄ። ኮነኒ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ከመ፡ ፀር፡ ወአሥጠሞ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ወአሥጠመ፡ ኵሎ፡ ክበዲሃ፡ ወአማሰነ፡ አጽዋኒሃ። ወአብዝኀ፡ ኀሣራ፡ ለወለተ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ኅሥርት።
The Lord has become as an enemy. He has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces. He has destroyed his strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation in the daughter of Judah.
2:6
וַיַּחְמֹ֤ס כַּגַּן֙ שֻׂכּ֔וֹ שִׁחֵ֖ת מֹעֲד֑וֹ שִׁכַּ֨ח יְהֹוָ֤ה׀בְּצִיּוֹן֙ מוֹעֵ֣ד וְשַׁבָּ֔ת וַיִּנְאַ֥ץ בְּזַֽעַם־אַפּ֖וֹ מֶ֥לֶךְ וְכֹהֵֽן׃ {ס}
καὶ διεπέτασεν ὡς ἄμπελον τὸ σκήνωμα αὐτοῦ διέφθειρεν ἑορτὴν αὐτοῦ ἐπελάθετο κύριος ὃ ἐποίησεν ἐν Σιων ἑορτῆς καὶ σαββάτου καὶ παρώξυνεν ἐμβριμήματι ὀργῆς αὐτοῦ βασιλέα καὶ ἱερέα καὶ ἄρχοντα
Et dissipavit quasi hortum tentorium suum ; demolitus est tabernaculum suum. Oblivioni tradidit Dominus in Sion festivitatem et sabbatum ; et in opprobrium, et in indignationem furoris sui, regem et sacerdotem.
ዋው። ወጸለለ፡ ከመ፡ ወይን፡ ማኅደሮ፡ ወአማሰነ፡ በዓሎ። ረስዐ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘገብረ፡ በጽዮን፡ በዓለ፡ ወሰንበተ። ወአኅለቀ፡ በመቅሠፍተ፡ መዐቱ፡ ነገሥተ፡ ወመላእክተ፡ ወካህናተ።
He has violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were a garden. He has destroyed his place of assembly. Yahweh has caused solemn assembly and Sabbath to be forgotten in Zion. In the indignation of his anger, he has despised the king and the priest.
2:7
זָנַ֨ח אֲדֹנָ֤י׀מִזְבְּחוֹ֙ נִאֵ֣ר מִקְדָּשׁ֔וֹ הִסְגִּיר֙ בְּיַד־אוֹיֵ֔ב חוֹמֹ֖ת אַרְמְנוֹתֶ֑יהָ ק֛וֹל נָתְנ֥וּ בְּבֵית־יְהֹוָ֖ה כְּי֥וֹם מוֹעֵֽד׃ {ס}
ἀπώσατο κύριος θυσιαστήριον αὐτοῦ ἀπετίναξεν ἁγίασμα αὐτοῦ συνέτριψεν ἐν χειρὶ ἐχθροῦ τεῖχος βάρεων αὐτῆς φωνὴν ἔδωκαν ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου ὡς ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἑορτῆς
Repulit Dominus altare suum ; maledixit sanctificationi suae : tradidit in manu inimici muros turrium ejus. Vocem dederunt in domo Domini sicut in die solemni.
ዛይ። ኀደገ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ምሥዋዖ፡ ወረስዐ፡ መቅደሶ፡ ወዐጸወ፡ በእደ፡ ፀር፡ አረፍተ፡ ኀይላ። ወቃለ፡ ወሀቡ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወየበቡ፡ ከመ፡ ዕለተ፡ በዓል።
The Lord has cast off his altar. He has abhorred his sanctuary. He has given the walls of her palaces into the hand of the enemy. They have made a noise in Yahweh’s house, as in the day of a solemn assembly.
2:8
חָשַׁ֨ב יְהֹוָ֤ה׀לְהַשְׁחִית֙ חוֹמַ֣ת בַּת־צִיּ֔וֹן נָ֣טָה קָ֔ו לֹא־הֵשִׁ֥יב יָד֖וֹ מִבַּלֵּ֑עַ וַיַּֽאֲבֶל־חֵ֥ל וְחוֹמָ֖ה יַחְדָּ֥ו אֻמְלָֽלוּ׃ {ס}
καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν κύριος τοῦ διαφθεῖραι τεῖχος θυγατρὸς Σιων ἐξέτεινεν μέτρον οὐκ ἀπέστρεψεν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ καταπατήματος καὶ ἐπένθησεν τὸ προτείχισμα καὶ τεῖχος ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἠσθένησεν
Cogitavit Dominus dissipare murum filiae Sion ; tetendit funiculum suum, et non avertit manum suam a perditione : luxitque antemurale, et murus pariter dissipatus est.
ሔት። ወተመይጠ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ከመ፡ ያማስን፡ አረፍታ፡ ለወለተ፡ ጽዮን፡ ወሰሐበ፡ አምጣነ፡ ወኢመጠወ፡ እዴሁ፡ እምአሥጥሞ፡ ወለሐወ፡ ጥቅማ፡ ወአረፍታ፡ ኅቡረ፡ ደክመ።
Yahweh has purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion. He has stretched out the line. He has not withdrawn his hand from destroying; He has made the rampart and wall lament. They languish together.
2:9
טָבְע֤וּ בָאָ֙רֶץ֙ שְׁעָרֶ֔יהָ אִבַּ֥ד וְשִׁבַּ֖ר בְּרִיחֶ֑יהָ מַלְכָּ֨הּ וְשָׂרֶ֤יהָ בַגּוֹיִם֙ אֵ֣ין תּוֹרָ֔ה גַּם־נְבִיאֶ֕יהָ לֹא־מָצְא֥וּ חָז֖וֹן מֵיְהֹוָֽה׃ {ס}
ἐνεπάγησαν εἰς γῆν πύλαι αὐτῆς ἀπώλεσεν καὶ συνέτριψεν μοχλοὺς αὐτῆς βασιλέα αὐτῆς καὶ ἄρχοντας αὐτῆς ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν οὐκ ἔστιν νόμος καί γε προφῆται αὐτῆς οὐκ εἶδον ὅρασιν παρὰ κυρίου
Defixae sunt in terra portae ejus, perdidit et contrivit vectes ejus ; regem ejus et principes ejus in gentibus : non est lex, et prophetae ejus non invenerunt visionem a Domino.
ጤት። ተደፍኑ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ዴዴያቲሃ። ተገድፈ፡ ወተቀጥቀጠ፡ መናስግቲሃ። ንጉሣሂ፡ ወመልአካሂ፡ ውስተ፡ አሕዛብ፡ አልባቲ፡ ሕግ። ወነቢያቲሃ፡ ኢርእዩ፡ ራእየ፡ በኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
Her gates have sunk into the ground. He has destroyed and broken her bars. Her king and her princes are among the nations where the law is not. Yes, her prophets find no vision from Yahweh.
2:10
יֵשְׁב֨וּ לָאָ֤רֶץ יִדְּמוּ֙ זִקְנֵ֣י בַת־צִיּ֔וֹן הֶֽעֱל֤וּ עָפָר֙ עַל־רֹאשָׁ֔ם חָגְר֖וּ שַׂקִּ֑ים הוֹרִ֤ידוּ לָאָ֙רֶץ֙ רֹאשָׁ֔ן בְּתוּלֹ֖ת יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ {ס}
ἐκάθισαν εἰς τὴν γῆν ἐσιώπησαν πρεσβύτεροι θυγατρὸς Σιων ἀνεβίβασαν χοῦν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν περιεζώσαντο σάκκους κατήγαγον εἰς γῆν ἀρχηγοὺς παρθένους ἐν Ιερουσαλημ
Sederunt in terra, conticuerunt senes filiae Sion ; consperserunt cinere capita sua, accincti sunt ciliciis : abjecerunt in terram capita sua virgines Jerusalem.
ዮድ። ነበሩ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ወአርመሙ፡ ረበናቲሃ፡ ለወለተ፡ ጽዮን። ወወደዩ፡ መሬተ፡ ውስተ፡ ርእሶሙ፡ ወቀነቱ፡ ሠቀ። ወአውረድዎሙ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ለመሳፍንት፡ ወለደናግል፡ በኢየሩሳሌም።
The elders of the daughter of Zion sit on the ground. They keep silence. They have cast up dust on their heads. They have clothed themselves with sackcloth. The virgins of Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground.
2:11
כָּל֨וּ בַדְּמָע֤וֹת עֵינַי֙ חֳמַרְמְר֣וּ מֵעַ֔י נִשְׁפַּ֤ךְ לָאָ֙רֶץ֙ כְּבֵדִ֔י עַל־שֶׁ֖בֶר בַּת־עַמִּ֑י בֵּֽעָטֵ֤ף עוֹלֵל֙ וְיוֹנֵ֔ק בִּרְחֹב֖וֹת קִרְיָֽה׃ {ס}
ἐξέλιπον ἐν δάκρυσιν οἱ ὀφθαλμοί μου ἐταράχθη ἡ καρδία μου ἐξεχύθη εἰς γῆν ἡ δόξα μου ἐπὶ τὸ σύντριμμα τῆς θυγατρὸς τοῦ λαοῦ μου ἐν τῷ ἐκλιπεῖν νήπιον καὶ θηλάζοντα ἐν πλατείαις πόλεως
Defecerunt prae lacrimis oculi mei, conturbata sunt viscera mea ; effusum est in terra jecur meum super contritione filiae populi mei, cum deficeret parvulus et lactens in plateis oppidi.
ካፍ። ደክማ፡ አዕይንትየ፡ በአንብዕ፡ ደንገፀ፡ ልብየ። ወተክዕወ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ክብርየ፡ በእንተ፡ ቅጥቃጤሃ፡ ለወለተ፡ ሕዝብየ። ሶበ፡ ኀልቁ፡ ሕፃናት፡ ወጠባዊት፡ በመርሕበ፡ ሀገር።
My eyes fail with tears. My heart is troubled. My bile is poured on the earth, because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, because the young children and the infants swoon in the streets of the city.
2:12
לְאִמֹּתָם֙ יֹֽאמְר֔וּ אַיֵּ֖ה דָּגָ֣ן וָיָ֑יִן בְּהִֽתְעַטְּפָ֤ם כֶּֽחָלָל֙ בִּרְחֹב֣וֹת עִ֔יר בְּהִשְׁתַּפֵּ֣ךְ נַפְשָׁ֔ם אֶל־חֵ֖יק אִמֹּתָֽם׃ {ס}
ταῖς μητράσιν αὐτῶν εἶπαν ποῦ σῖτος καὶ οἶνος ἐν τῷ ἐκλύεσθαι αὐτοὺς ὡς τραυματίας ἐν πλατείαις πόλεως ἐν τῷ ἐκχεῖσθαι ψυχὰς αὐτῶν εἰς κόλπον μητέρων αὐτῶν
Matribus suis dixerunt : Ubi est triticum et vinum ? cum deficerent quasi vulnerati in plateis civitatis, cum exhalarent animas suas in sinu matrum suarum.
ላሜድ። ይቤልዎን፡ ለእማቲሆሙ፡ አይቴ፡ እክል፡ ወወይን፡ ሶበ፡ ርኅቡ፡ ከመ፡ ቅቱላን፡ ውስተ፡ መርሕበ፡ ሀገር። ሶበ፡ ወፅአት፡ ነፍሶሙ፡ በውስተ፡ ሕፅነ፡ እሞሙ።
They ask their mothers, “Where is grain and wine?” when they swoon as the wounded in the streets of the city, when their soul is poured out into their mothers’ bosom.
2:13
מָֽה־אֲעִידֵ֞ךְ מָ֣ה אֲדַמֶּה־לָּ֗ךְ הַבַּת֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם מָ֤ה אַשְׁוֶה־לָּךְ֙ וַאֲנַֽחֲמֵ֔ךְ בְּתוּלַ֖ת בַּת־צִיּ֑וֹן כִּֽי־גָד֥וֹל כַּיָּ֛ם שִׁבְרֵ֖ךְ מִ֥י יִרְפָּא־לָֽךְ׃ {ס}
τί μαρτυρήσω σοι ἢ τί ὁμοιώσω σοι θύγατερ Ιερουσαλημ τίς σώσει σε καὶ παρακαλέσει σε παρθένος θύγατερ Σιων ὅτι ἐμεγαλύνθη ποτήριον συντριβῆς σου τίς ἰάσεταί σε
Cui comparabo te, vel cui assimilabo te, filia Jerusalem ? cui exaequabo te, et consolabor te, virgo, filia Sion ? magna est enim velut mare contritio tua : quis medebitur tui ?
ሜም። በምንት፡ አስተማስለኪ፡ ወበምንት፡ አስተዔርየኪ፡ ወለተ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም። መኑ፡ ያድኅነኪ፡ ወመኑ፡ ያስተፌሥሐኪ፡ ወለተ፡ ጽዮን፡ ድንግል። እስመ፡ ሀብየ፡ ከመ፡ ባሕር፡ ቅጥቃጤኪ፡ መኑ፡ ይፌውሰኪ።
What shall I testify to you? What shall I liken to you, daughter of Jerusalem? What shall I compare to you, that I may comfort you, virgin daughter of Zion? For your breach is as big as the sea. Who can heal you?
2:14
נְבִיאַ֗יִךְ חָ֤זוּ לָךְ֙ שָׁ֣וְא וְתָפֵ֔ל וְלֹֽא־גִלּ֥וּ עַל־עֲוֺנֵ֖ךְ לְהָשִׁ֣יב (שביתך) [שְׁבוּתֵ֑ךְ] וַיֶּ֣חֱזוּ לָ֔ךְ מַשְׂא֥וֹת שָׁ֖וְא וּמַדּוּחִֽים׃ {ס}
προφῆταί σου εἴδοσάν σοι μάταια καὶ ἀφροσύνην καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκάλυψαν ἐπὶ τὴν ἀδικίαν σου τοῦ ἐπιστρέψαι αἰχμαλωσίαν σου καὶ εἴδοσάν σοι λήμματα μάταια καὶ ἐξώσματα
Prophetae tui viderunt tibi falsa et stulta ; nec aperiebant iniquitatem tuam, ut te ad poenitentiam provocarent ; viderunt autem tibi assumptiones falsas, et ejectiones.
ኖን። ነቢያትኪ፡ ርእዩ፡ ለኪ፡ ከንቶ፡ ወእበደ። ወኢከሠቱ፡ ጌጋየኪ፡ ከመ፡ ይሚጡ፡ ፄዋኪ። ወርእዩ፡ ለኪ፡ ተረፈ፡ ከንቶ።
Your prophets have seen false and foolish visions for you. They have not uncovered your iniquity, to reverse your captivity, but have seen for you false revelations and causes of banishment.
2:15
סָֽפְק֨וּ עָלַ֤יִךְ כַּפַּ֙יִם֙ כׇּל־עֹ֣בְרֵי דֶ֔רֶךְ שָֽׁרְקוּ֙ וַיָּנִ֣עוּ רֹאשָׁ֔ם עַל־בַּ֖ת יְרוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם הֲזֹ֣את הָעִ֗יר שֶׁיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ כְּלִ֣ילַת יֹ֔פִי מָשׂ֖וֹשׂ לְכׇל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ {ס}
ἐκρότησαν ἐπὶ σὲ χεῖρας πάντες οἱ παραπορευόμενοι ὁδόν ἐσύρισαν καὶ ἐκίνησαν τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τὴν θυγατέρα Ιερουσαλημ ἦ αὕτη ἡ πόλις ἣν ἐροῦσιν στέφανος δόξης εὐφροσύνη πάσης τῆς γῆς
Plauserunt super te manibus omnes transeuntes per viam ; sibilaverunt et moverunt caput suum super filiam Jerusalem : Haeccine est urbs, dicentes, perfecti decoris, gaudium universae terrae ?
ሳምኬት። ጠፍሑ፡ እደዊሆሙ፡ ላዕሌኪ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ኀለፍተ፡ ፍኖት። ተፋጸዩ፡ ወአሖሱ፡ ርእሶሙ፡ ላዕለ፡ ወለተ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም። ወይቤሉ፡ ዛቲኑ፡ ሀገር፡ አክሊሉ፡ ወክብሩ፡ ወፍሥሓሁ፡ ለኵሉ፡ ምድር።
All that pass by clap their hands at you. They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, “Is this the city that men called ‘The perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth’?”
2:16
פָּצ֨וּ עָלַ֤יִךְ פִּיהֶם֙ כׇּל־אֹ֣יְבַ֔יִךְ שָֽׁרְקוּ֙ וַיַּֽחַרְקוּ־שֵׁ֔ן אָמְר֖וּ בִּלָּ֑עְנוּ אַ֣ךְ זֶ֥ה הַיּ֛וֹם שֶׁקִּוִּינֻ֖הוּ מָצָ֥אנוּ רָאִֽינוּ׃ {ס}
διήνοιξαν ἐπὶ σὲ στόμα αὐτῶν πάντες οἱ ἐχθροί σου ἐσύρισαν καὶ ἔβρυξαν ὀδόντας εἶπαν κατεπίομεν αὐτήν πλὴν αὕτη ἡ ἡμέρα ἣν προσεδοκῶμεν εὕρομεν αὐτήν εἴδομεν
Aperuerunt super te os suum omnes inimici tui : sibilaverunt, et fremuerunt dentibus, et dixerunt : Devorabimus : en ista est dies quam exspectabamus ; invenimus, vidimus.
ዔ። አብቀዉ፡ አፉሆሙ፡ ላዕሌኪ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ፀርኪ። ተፋጸዩ፡ ወሐቀዩ፡ ስነኒሆሙ፡ ወይቤሉ። ውሕጥናሃ፡ ወባሕቱ፡ ዛቲ፡ ዕለት፡ ዘተሰፈውናሃ፡ ረከብናሃ፡ ወርኢናሃ።
All your enemies have opened their mouth wide against you. They hiss and gnash their teeth. They say, “We have swallowed her up. Certainly this is the day that we looked for. We have found it. We have seen it.”
2:17
עָשָׂ֨ה יְהֹוָ֜ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר זָמָ֗ם בִּצַּ֤ע אֶמְרָתוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוָּ֣ה מִֽימֵי־קֶ֔דֶם הָרַ֖ס וְלֹ֣א חָמָ֑ל וַיְשַׂמַּ֤ח עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ אוֹיֵ֔ב הֵרִ֖ים קֶ֥רֶן צָרָֽיִךְ׃ {ס}
ἐποίησεν κύριος ἃ ἐνεθυμήθη συνετέλεσεν ῥήματα αὐτοῦ ἃ ἐνετείλατο ἐξ ἡμερῶν ἀρχαίων καθεῖλεν καὶ οὐκ ἐφείσατο καὶ ηὔφρανεν ἐπὶ σὲ ἐχθρόν ὕψωσεν κέρας θλίβοντός σε
Fecit Dominus quae cogitavit ; complevit sermonem suum, quem praeceperat a diebus antiquis : destruxit, et non pepercit, et laetificavit super te inimicum, et exaltavit cornu hostium tuorum.
ፌ። ገብረ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘሐለየ፡ ወፈጸመ፡ ዘነበበ፡ ዘአዘዘ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ በመዋዕለ፡ ትካት፡ ወነሠታ፡ ወኢምሕካ፡ ወአስተፍሥሐ፡ ጸላእተኪ፡ ወአልዐለ፡ ቀርነ፡ ፀርኪ፡ ላዕሌኪ።
Yahweh has done that which he planned. He has fulfilled his word that he commanded in the days of old. He has thrown down, and has not pitied. He has caused the enemy to rejoice over you. He has exalted the horn of your adversaries.
2:18
צָעַ֥ק לִבָּ֖ם אֶל־אֲדֹנָ֑י חוֹמַ֣ת בַּת־צִ֠יּ֠וֹן הוֹרִ֨ידִי כַנַּ֤חַל דִּמְעָה֙ יוֹמָ֣ם וָלַ֔יְלָה אַֽל־תִּתְּנִ֤י פוּגַת֙ לָ֔ךְ אַל־תִּדֹּ֖ם בַּת־עֵינֵֽךְ׃ {ס}
ἐβόησεν καρδία αὐτῶν πρὸς κύριον τείχη Σιων καταγάγετε ὡς χειμάρρους δάκρυα ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτός μὴ δῷς ἔκνηψιν σεαυτῇ μὴ σιωπήσαιτο θύγατερ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου
Clamavit cor eorum ad Dominum super muros filiae Sion : Deduc quasi torrentem lacrimas per diem et noctem ; non des requiem tibi, neque taceat pupilla oculi tui.
ጻዴ። አውየወ፡ ልቦሙ፡ ኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለአረፋተ፡ ወለተ፡ ጽዮን። ይወርዳ፡ አንብዕ፡ ከመ፡ ውሒዝ፡ መዓልተ፡ ወሌሊተ። ኢተሀቢ፡ ዕረፍተ፡ ለኪ፡ ወኢታርምም፡ ብንተ፡ ዐይንኪ።
Their heart cried to the Lord. O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night. Give yourself no relief. Don’t let your eyes rest.
2:19
ק֣וּמִי׀ רֹ֣נִּי (בליל) [בַלַּ֗יְלָה] לְרֹאשׁ֙ אַשְׁמֻר֔וֹת שִׁפְכִ֤י כַמַּ֙יִם֙ לִבֵּ֔ךְ נֹ֖כַח פְּנֵ֣י אֲדֹנָ֑י שְׂאִ֧י אֵלָ֣יו כַּפַּ֗יִךְ עַל־נֶ֙פֶשׁ֙ עֽוֹלָלַ֔יִךְ הָעֲטוּפִ֥ים בְּרָעָ֖ב בְּרֹ֥אשׁ כׇּל־חוּצֽוֹת׃ {ס}
ἀνάστα ἀγαλλίασαι ἐν νυκτὶ εἰς ἀρχὰς φυλακῆς σου ἔκχεον ὡς ὕδωρ καρδίαν σου ἀπέναντι προσώπου κυρίου ἆρον πρὸς αὐτὸν χεῖράς σου περὶ ψυχῆς νηπίων σου τῶν ἐκλυομένων λιμῷ ἐπ’ ἀρχῆς πασῶν ἐξόδων
Consurge, lauda in nocte, in principio vigiliarum ; effunde sicut aquam cor tuum ante conspectum Domini : leva ad eum manus tuas pro anima parvulorum tuorum, qui defecerunt in fame in capite omnium compitorum.
ቆፍ። ተንሥኢ፡ ወተፈሥሒ፡ በሌሊት፡ በቀዳሚት፡ ሰዓትኪ። ከዐዊዮ፡ ከመ፡ ማይ፡ ለልብኪ፡ ቅድመ፡ ገጹ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር። አንሥኢ፡ እደወኪ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ በእንተ፡ ነፍሰ፡ ሕፃናትኪ፡ እለ፡ ኀልቁ፡ በረኀብ፡ በርእሰ፡ ኵሉ፡ ፍናዋት።
Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches! Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift up your hands toward him for the life of your young children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street.
2:20
רְאֵ֤ה יְהֹוָה֙ וְֽהַבִּ֔יטָה לְמִ֖י עוֹלַ֣לְתָּ כֹּ֑ה אִם־תֹּאכַ֨לְנָה נָשִׁ֤ים פִּרְיָם֙ עֹלְלֵ֣י טִפֻּחִ֔ים אִם־יֵהָרֵ֛ג בְּמִקְדַּ֥שׁ אֲדֹנָ֖י כֹּהֵ֥ן וְנָבִֽיא׃ {ס}
ἰδέ κύριε καὶ ἐπίβλεψον τίνι ἐπεφύλλισας οὕτως εἰ φάγονται γυναῖκες καρπὸν κοιλίας αὐτῶν ἐπιφυλλίδα ἐποίησεν μάγειρος φονευθήσονται νήπια θηλάζοντα μαστούς ἀποκτενεῖς ἐν ἁγιάσματι κυρίου ἱερέα καὶ προφήτην
Vide, Domine, et considera quem vindemiaveris ita. Ergone comedent mulieres fructum suum, parvulos ad mensuram palmae ? si occiditur in sanctuario Domini sacerdos et propheta ?
ሬስ። ርኢ፡ እግዚኦ፡ ወነጽር፡ መነ፡ ተቀረምከ፡ ከመዝ። ይበልዓኑ፡ አንስት፡ ፍሬ፡ ከርሦን፡ ወሐፃንያት፡ እለ፡ ያጠብዋ፡ አው፡ ይቀትሉኑ፡ ካህነ፡ ወነቢየ፡ በመቅደሰ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
“Look, Yahweh, and see to whom you have done thus! Should the women eat their offspring, the children that they held and bounced on their knees? Should the priest and the prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?
2:21
שָׁכְב֨וּ לָאָ֤רֶץ חוּצוֹת֙ נַ֣עַר וְזָקֵ֔ן בְּתוּלֹתַ֥י וּבַחוּרַ֖י נָפְל֣וּ בֶחָ֑רֶב הָרַ֙גְתָּ֙ בְּי֣וֹם אַפֶּ֔ךָ טָבַ֖חְתָּ לֹ֥א חָמָֽלְתָּ׃ {ס}
ἐκοιμήθησαν εἰς τὴν ἔξοδον παιδάριον καὶ πρεσβύτης παρθένοι μου καὶ νεανίσκοι μου ἐπορεύθησαν ἐν αἰχμαλωσίᾳ ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ καὶ ἐν λιμῷ ἀπέκτεινας ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ὀργῆς σου ἐμαγείρευσας οὐκ ἐφείσω
Jacuerunt in terra foris puer et senex ; virgines meae et juvenes mei ceciderunt in gladio : interfecisti in die furoris tui, percussisti, nec misertus es.
ሳን። አስከብዎሙ፡ ውስተ፡ ፍናው፡ ለአእሩግ፡ ወለሕፃናት። ወለደናግልየ፡ ወለወራዙትየ፡ ፄወውዎሙ፡ ወወድቁ፡ በኵናት። ወቀተልኮሙ፡ በረኀብ፡ በዕለተ፡ መዐትከ፡ ቀተልከ፡ ወኢመሐከ።
“The youth and the old man lie on the ground in the streets. My virgins and my young men have fallen by the sword. You have killed them in the day of your anger. You have slaughtered, and not pitied.
2:22
תִּקְרָא֩ כְי֨וֹם מוֹעֵ֤ד מְגוּרַי֙ מִסָּבִ֔יב וְלֹ֥א הָיָ֛ה בְּי֥וֹם אַף־יְהֹוָ֖ה פָּלִ֣יט וְשָׂרִ֑יד אֲשֶׁר־טִפַּ֥חְתִּי וְרִבִּ֖יתִי אֹיְבִ֥י כִלָּֽם׃ {פ}
ἐκάλεσεν ἡμέραν ἑορτῆς παροικίας μου κυκλόθεν καὶ οὐκ ἐγένοντο ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ὀργῆς κυρίου ἀνασῳζόμενος καὶ καταλελειμμένος ὡς ἐπεκράτησα καὶ ἐπλήθυνα ἐχθρούς μου πάντας
Vocasti quasi ad diem solemnem, qui terrerent me de circuitu ; et non fuit in die furoris Domini qui effugeret, et relinqueretur : quos educavi et enutrivi, inimicus meus consumpsit eos.
ታው። ጸውዐ፡ ዕለተ፡ በዓል፡ በኀበ፡ ፈለስኩ፡ እምዐውድ። ወኢኮነ፡ በዕለተ፡ መዐቱ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ዘይድኅን፡ ወዘይተርፍ፡ በከመ፡ ዘአልሀቁ፡ ወዘሐፀንኩ፡ ፀርየ፡ አኅለቅዎሙ።
“You have called, as in the day of a solemn assembly, my terrors on every side. There was no one that escaped or remained in the day of Yahweh’s anger. My enemy has consumed those whom I have cared for and brought up.
