14:1
Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐλθεῖν αὐτὸν εἰς οἶκόν τινος τῶν ἀρχόντων τῶν Φαρισαίων σαββάτῳ φαγεῖν ἄρτον, καὶ αὐτοὶ ἦσαν παρατηρούμενοι αὐτόν.
Et factum est cum intraret Jesus in domum cujusdam principis pharisaeorum sabbato manducare panem, et ipsi observabant eum.
ወእምዝ ሖረ ወቦአ ቤተ አሐዱ ብእሲ እምነ መልአኮሙ ለፈሪሳውያን በሰንበት ከመ ይብላዕ እክለ ወእሙንቱሰ ይትዐቀብዎ።
When he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat bread, they were watching him.
14:2
καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄνθρωπός τις ἦν ὑδρωπικὸς ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ.
Et ecce homo quidam hydropicus erat ante illum.
ወሀሎ አሐዱ ብእሲ ቅብው ቅድሜሁ።
Behold, a certain man who had dropsy was in front of him.
14:3
καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν πρὸς τοὺς νομικοὺς καὶ Φαρισαίους λέγων· ἔξεστιν τῷ σαββάτῳ θεραπεῦσαι ἢ οὔ; οἱ δὲ ἡσύχασαν.
Et respondens Jesus dixit ad legisperitos et pharisaeos, dicens : Si licet sabbato curare ?
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወተስእሎሙ ለጸሐፍተ ሀገር ወለፈሪሳውያን እንዘ ይብል ይከውንሁ በሰንበት ፈውሶ ወሚመ ኢይከውንሁ።
Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
14:4
καὶ ἐπιλαβόμενος ἰάσατο αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπέλυσεν.
At illi tacuerunt. Ipse vero apprehensum sanavit eum, ac dimisit.
ወአርመሙ ወነሥኦ ወፈወሶ ወፈነዎ።
But they were silent. He took him, and healed him, and let him go.
14:5
καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς πρὸς αὐτοὺς εἶπεν· τίνος ὑμῶν υἱὸς ἢ βοῦς εἰς φρέαρ πεσεῖται, καὶ οὐκ εὐθέως ἀνασπάσει αὐτὸν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ σαββάτου;
Et respondens ad illos dixit : Cujus vestrum asinus, aut bos in puteum cadet, et non continuo extrahet illum die sabbati ?
ወይቤሎሙ እመቦ አሐዱ እምኔክሙ ለእመ ወድቆ ላሕሙ አው አድጉ ውስተ ዐዘቅት አኮኑ በጊዜሃ ያነሥኦ በዕለተ ሰንበት።
He answered them, “Which of you, if your son or an ox fell into a well, wouldn’t immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?”
14:6
καὶ οὐκ ἴσχυσαν ἀνταποκριθῆναι πρὸς ταῦτα.
Et non poterant ad haec respondere illi.
ወስእኑ አውሥኦቶ በእንተ ዝንቱ ነገር።
They couldn’t answer him regarding these things.
14:7
Ἔλεγεν δὲ πρὸς τοὺς κεκλημένους παραβολήν, ἐπέχων πῶς τὰς πρωτοκλισίας ἐξελέγοντο, λέγων πρὸς αὐτούς·
Dicebat autem et ad invitatos parabolam, intendens quomodo primos accubitus eligerent, dicens ad illos :
ወይቤሎሙ ለእለ ሀለዉ ውስተ ምሳሕ ወመሰለ ሎሙ ወመሀሮሙ ሶበ ርእዮሙ እንዘ ይትባደሩ ውስተ ርእሰ ምርፋቅ።
He spoke a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the best seats, and said to them,
14:8
ὅταν κληθῇς ὑπό τινος εἰς γάμους, μὴ κατακλιθῇς εἰς τὴν πρωτοκλισίαν, μήποτε ἐντιμότερός σου ᾖ κεκλημένος ὑπ’ αὐτοῦ,
Cum invitatus fueris ad nuptias, non discumbas in primo loco, ne forte honoratior te sit invitatus ab illo.
ወይቤሎሙ እመቦ ዘጸውዐከ ውስተ ምሳሕ ወሖርከ ኢትርፍቅ ውስተ ርእሰ ምርፋቅ ክቡር እመቦ ዮጊ ይመጽእ ዘይከብረከ።
“When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, don’t sit in the best seat, since perhaps someone more honorable than you might be invited by him,
14:9
καὶ ἐλθὼν ὁ σὲ καὶ αὐτὸν καλέσας ἐρεῖ σοι· δὸς τούτῳ τόπον, καὶ τότε ἄρξῃ μετὰ αἰσχύνης τὸν ἔσχατον τόπον κατέχειν.
Et veniens is, qui te et illum vocavit, dicat tibi : Da huic locum : et tunc incipias cum rubore novissimum locum tenere.
እስመ መጺኦ ድኅረ ይብለከ ዝኩ ዘጸውዐከ ኅድግ ሎቱ ዘንተ ገጸ ወትገብእ ወትትኀፈር ውእተ ጊዜ ወትወርድ ውስተ ምርፋቅ ዘይቴሐት።
and he who invited both of you would come and tell you, ‘Make room for this person.’ Then you would begin, with shame, to take the lowest place.
14:10
ἀλλ’ ὅταν κληθῇς πορευθεὶς ἀνάπεσε εἰς τὸν ἔσχατον τόπον, ἵνα ὅταν ἔλθῃ ὁ κεκληκώς σε ἐρεῖ σοι· φίλε, προσανάβηθι ἀνώτερον· τότε ἔσται σοι δόξα ἐνώπιον πάντων τῶν συνανακειμένων σοι.
Sed cum vocatus fueris, vade, recumbe in novissimo loco : ut, cum venerit qui te invitavit, dicat tibi : Amice, ascende superius. Tunc erit tibi gloria coram simul discumbentibus :
ወእመሰ ቦ ዘጸውዐከ ወሖርከ ርፍቅ ውስተ ታሕታይ ምርፋቅ ከመ ሶበ መጽአ ዘጸውዐከ ይበልከ ዐርክየ ዕርግ ውስተ ዘይትሌዐል ምርፋቅ ወውእተ ጊዜ ይከውነከ ክብረ በቅድመ ኵሎሙ እለ ይረፍቁ ወይመስሑ ምስሌከ።
But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.
14:11
ὅτι πᾶς ὁ ὑψῶν ἑαυτὸν ταπεινωθήσεται, καὶ ὁ ταπεινῶν ἑαυτὸν ὑψωθήσεται.
quia omnis, qui se exaltat, humiliabitur : et qui se humiliat, exaltabitur.
እስመ ኵሉ ዘአዕበየ ርእሶ የኀሥር ወዘአትሐተ ርእሶ ይከብር።
For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”
14:12
Ἔλεγεν δὲ καὶ τῷ κεκληκότι αὐτόν· ὅταν ποιῇς ἄριστον ἢ δεῖπνον, μὴ φώνει τοὺς φίλους σου μηδὲ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου μηδὲ τοὺς συγγενεῖς σου μηδὲ γείτονας πλουσίους, μήποτε καὶ αὐτοὶ ἀντικαλέσωσίν σε καὶ γένηται ἀνταπόδομά σοι.
Dicebat autem et ei, qui invitaverat : Cum facis prandium, aut coenam, noli vocare amicos tuos, neque fratres tuos, neque cognatos, neque vicinos divites : ne forte te et ipsi reinvitent, et fiat tibi retributio ;
ወይቤሎ ለዘጸውዖ ሶበ ትገብር በዓለ ወምሳሐ አው ድራረ ኢትጸውዕ አዕርክቲክ ወአኀዊከ ወአዝማዲከ ወጎረከ ወቢጸከ አብዕልተ ከመ ይጸውዑከ እሙንቱሂ ወይከውነከ ፍዳ በኀቤሆሙ።
He also said to the one who had invited him, “When you make a dinner or a supper, don’t call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your kinsmen, nor rich neighbors, or perhaps they might also return the favor, and pay you back.
14:13
ἀλλ’ ὅταν ποιῇς δοχήν, κάλει πτωχούς, ἀναπήρους, χωλούς, τυφλούς,
sed cum facis convivium, voca pauperes, debiles, claudos, et caecos :
አላ ሶበ ትገብር በዓለ ወምሳሐ ጸውዕ ነዳያነ ወምስኪናነ ወዕዉራነ ወስቡራነ።
But when you make a feast, ask the poor, the maimed, the lame, or the blind;
14:14
καὶ μακάριος ἔσῃ, ὅτι οὐκ ἔχουσιν ἀνταποδοῦναί σοι· ἀνταποδοθήσεται δέ σοι ἐν τῇ ἀναστάσει τῶν δικαίων.
et beatus eris, quia non habent retribuere tibi : retribuetur enim tibi in resurrectione justorum.
ወብፁዕ አንተ እስመ አልቦሙ ዘይፈድዩከ ወባሕቱ ትትዐሠይ አመ ይትነሥኡ ጻድቃን።
and you will be blessed, because they don’t have the resources to repay you. For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous.”
14:15
Ἀκούσας δέ τις τῶν συνανακειμένων ταῦτα εἶπεν αὐτῷ· μακάριος ὅστις φάγεται ἄρτον ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ.
Haec cum audisset quidam de simul discumbentibus, dixit illi : Beatus qui manducabit panem in regno Dei.
ወሰሚዖ ዘንተ አሐዱ እምእለ ይረፍቁ ይቤሎ ብፁዕ ውእቱ ዘይበልዕ እክለ በመንግሥተ እግዚአብሔር።
When one of those who sat at the table with him heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is he who will feast in God’s Kingdom!”
14:16
ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, ἄνθρωπός τις ἐποίει δεῖπνον μέγα, καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πολλούς,
At ipse dixit ei : Homo quidam fecit coenam magnam, et vocavit multos.
ወይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ አሐዱ ብእሲ ገብረ ምሳሐ ዐቢየ ወዐሠሮሙ ለብዙኃን።
But he said to him, “A certain man made a great supper, and he invited many people.
14:17
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν τὸν δοῦλον αὐτοῦ τῇ ὥρᾳ τοῦ δείπνου εἰπεῖν τοῖς κεκλημένοις· ἔρχεσθε, ὅτι ἤδη ἕτοιμά εἰσιν.
Et misit servum suum hora coenae dicere invitatis ut venirent, quia jam parata sunt omnia.
ወሶበ በጽሐ ዐሡር ፈነወ ገብሮ ይጸውዖሙ ለእለ ዐሠሮሙ ወሶበ በጽሐ ጊዜ ምሳሕ ሖረ ገብሩ ወይቤሎሙ ለእለ ዐሠሮሙ ንዑ እስመ ወዳእነ አስተዳለውነ ምሳሐ።
He sent out his servant at supper time to tell those who were invited, ‘Come, for everything is ready now.’
14:18
καὶ ἤρξαντο ἀπὸ μιᾶς πάντες παραιτεῖσθαι. ὁ πρῶτος εἶπεν αὐτῷ· ἀγρὸν ἠγόρασα καὶ ἔχω ἀνάγκην ἐξελθὼν ἰδεῖν αὐτόν· ἐρωτῶ σε, ἔχε με παρῃτημένον.
Et coeperunt simul omnes excusare. Primus dixit ei : Villam emi, et necesse habeo exire, et videre illam : rogo te, habe me excusatum.
ወአበይዎ ኵሎሙ ኅቡረ በአሐዱ ቃል ወይቤሎ ቀዳማዊ ገራህተ ተሣየጥኩ ወእጽሕቅ ከመ እፃእ ወእሑር እርአያ ወበሎ ረሲ ሊተ ከመ ዘኢአበይኩ።
They all as one began to make excuses. “The first said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please have me excused.’
14:19
καὶ ἕτερος εἶπεν· ζεύγη βοῶν ἠγόρασα πέντε καὶ πορεύομαι δοκιμάσαι αὐτά· ἐρωτῶ σε, ἔχε με παρῃτημένον.
Et alter dixit : Juga boum emi quinque, et eo probare illa : rogo te, habe me excusatum.
ወይቤሎ ካልኡኒ ኀምስተ ፅምደ አልሕምት ተሣየጥኩ ወአሐውር እርአዮሙ ወእፍትኖሙ ወበሎ ረሲ ሊተ ከመ ዘመጻእኩ ወኢአበይኩ።
“Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go try them out. Please have me excused.’
14:20
καὶ ἕτερος εἶπεν· γυναῖκα ἔγημα καὶ διὰ τοῦτο οὐ δύναμαι ἐλθεῖν.
Et alius dixit : Uxorem duxi, et ideo non possum venire.
ወሣልሱኒ ይቤሎ ብእሲተ አውሰብኩ ወበእንተዝ ኢይክል መጺአ።
“Another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I can’t come.’
14:21
καὶ παραγενόμενος ὁ δοῦλος ἀπήγγειλεν τῷ κυρίῳ αὐτοῦ ταῦτα. τότε ὀργισθεὶς ὁ οἰκοδεσπότης εἶπεν τῷ δούλῳ αὐτοῦ· ἔξελθε ταχέως εἰς τὰς πλατείας καὶ ῥύμας τῆς πόλεως, καὶ τοὺς πτωχοὺς καὶ ἀναπήρους καὶ τυφλοὺς καὶ χωλοὺς εἰσάγαγε ὧδε.
Et reversus servus nuntiavit haec domino suo. Tunc iratus paterfamilias, dixit servo suo : Exi cito in plateas et vicos civitatis : et pauperes, ac debiles, et caecos, et claudos introduc huc.
ወገብአ ገብሩ ወነገሮ ከመዝ ለእግዚኡ ወእምዝ ተምዐ በዓለ ቤት ይእተ ጊዜ ወይቤሎ ለገብሩ ሑር ፍጡነ ውስተ መራሕብት ወውስተ አስኳተ ሀገር ወአምጽእ ሊተ ዝየ ነዳያነ ወጽኑሳነ ወምስኪናነ ወዕዉራነ ወስቡራነ።
“That servant came, and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor, maimed, blind, and lame.’
14:22
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ δοῦλος· κύριε, γέγονεν ὃ ἐπέταξας, καὶ ἔτι τόπος ἐστίν.
Et ait servus : Domine, factum est ut imperasti, et adhuc locus est.
ወእምዝ ይቤሎ ገብሩ ገበርኩ እግዚኦ በከመ አዘዝከኒ ወዓዲ ቦ መካን።
“The servant said, ‘Lord, it is done as you commanded, and there is still room.’
14:23
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ κύριος πρὸς τὸν δοῦλον· ἔξελθε εἰς τὰς ὁδοὺς καὶ φραγμοὺς καὶ ἀνάγκασον εἰσελθεῖν, ἵνα γεμισθῇ μου ὁ οἶκος·
Et ait dominus servo : Exi in vias, et saepes : et compelle intrare, ut impleatur domus mea.
ወይቤሎ እግዚኡ ለገብሩ ሑር ፍጡነ ውስተ ፍናው ወውስተ ጥቅመ ሀገር ወበግብር አብእ ሰብአ ከመ ይምላእ ቤትየ።
“The lord said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
14:24
λέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδεὶς τῶν ἀνδρῶν ἐκείνων τῶν κεκλημένων γεύσεταί μου τοῦ δείπνου.
Dico autem vobis quod nemo virorum illorum qui vocati sunt, gustabit coenam meam.
እብለክሙ ከመ አሐዱሂ እምእልክቱ ሰብእ እለ ጸዋዕኩ ኢይጥዕምዋ ለበዓልየ።
For I tell you that none of those men who were invited will taste of my supper. For many are called, but few are chosen. ’”
14:25
Συνεπορεύοντο δὲ αὐτῷ ὄχλοι πολλοί, καὶ στραφεὶς εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς·
Ibant autem turbae multae cum eo : et conversus dixit ad illos :
ወእምዝ እንዘ የሐውሩ ምስሌሁ ብዙኃን ሰብእ ተመይጠ ወይቤሎሙ።
Now great multitudes were going with him. He turned and said to them,
14:26
εἴ τις ἔρχεται πρός με καὶ οὐ μισεῖ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν μητέρα καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα καὶ τὰ τέκνα καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς καὶ τὰς ἀδελφάς, ἔτι δὲ καὶ τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ψυχήν, οὐ δύναται εἶναί μου μαθητής.
Si quis venit ad me, et non odit patrem suum, et matrem, et uxorem, et filios, et fratres, et sorores, adhuc autem et animam suam, non potest meus esse discipulus.
ዘይመጽእ ኀቤየ ወይፈቅድ ይትልወኒ ለእመ ኢጸልአ አባሁ ወእሞ ወብእሲቶ ወቤቶ ወውሉዶ ወአኀዊኡ ወአኃቲሁ ወዓዲ ነፍሶሂ ኢይክል ከዊነ ረድእየ።
“If anyone comes to me, and doesn’t disregard his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can’t be my disciple.
14:27
ὅστις οὐ βαστάζει τὸν σταυρὸν ἑαυτοῦ καὶ ἔρχεται ὀπίσω μου, οὐ δύναται εἶναί μου μαθητής.
Et qui non bajulat crucem suam, et venit post me, non potest meus esse discipulus.
ወዘኢይጸውር መስቀሎ ወኢይመጽእ ይትልወኒ ኢይክል ከዊነ ረድእየ።
Whoever doesn’t bear his own cross and come after me, can’t be my disciple.
14:28
Τίς γὰρ ἐξ ὑμῶν θέλων πύργον οἰκοδομῆσαι οὐχὶ πρῶτον καθίσας ψηφίζει τὴν δαπάνην, εἰ ἔχει εἰς ἀπαρτισμόν;
Quis enim ex vobis volens turrim aedificare, non prius sedens computat sumptus, qui necessarii sunt, si habeat ad perficiendum,
ወእመቦ አሐዱ እምኔክሙ ዘይፈቅድ ይሕንጽ ማኅፈደ አኮኑ ይቀድም ወይነብር ወየሐስብ ፃእፃኦ እመቦ ዘየአክሎ ከመ ይሣርር መሠረቶ።
For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?
14:29
ἵνα μήποτε θέντος αὐτοῦ θεμέλιον καὶ μὴ ἰσχύοντος ἐκτελέσαι πάντες οἱ θεωροῦντες ἄρξωνται αὐτῷ ἐμπαίζειν,
ne, posteaquam posuerit fundamentum, et non potuerit perficere, omnes qui vident, incipiant illudere ei,
ከመ ሣሪሮ መሠረተ ለእመ ስእነ ፈጽሞ ኵሎሙ እለ ርእይዎ ይእኅዙ ይሣለቁ ላዕሌሁ።
Or perhaps, when he has laid a foundation and isn’t able to finish, everyone who sees begins to mock him,
14:30
λέγοντες ὅτι οὗτος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἤρξατο οἰκοδομεῖν καὶ οὐκ ἴσχυσεν ἐκτελέσαι.
dicentes : Quia hic homo coepit aedificare, et non potuit consummare ?
እንዘ ይብሉ ዝንቱ ብእሲ አኀዘ ይሕንጽ ወስእነ ፈጽሞ።
saying, ‘This man began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’
14:31
Ἢ τίς βασιλεὺς πορευόμενος ἑτέρῳ βασιλεῖ συμβαλεῖν εἰς πόλεμον οὐχὶ καθίσας πρῶτον βουλεύσεται εἰ δυνατός ἐστιν ἐν δέκα χιλιάσιν ὑπαντῆσαι τῷ μετὰ εἴκοσι χιλιάδων ἐρχομένῳ ἐπ’ αὐτόν;
Aut quis rex iturus committere bellum adversus alium regem, non sedens prius cogitat, si possit cum decem millibus occurrere ei, qui cum viginti millibus venit ad se ?
ወእመኒ ፈቀደ ንጉሥ ይሑር ይጽብኦ ለካልእ ንጉሥ አኮኑ ይቀድም ወይነብር ወይመክር ለእመ ይክል በእልፍ ጸቢኦቶ ለዘይመጽእ ኀቤሁ ምስለ ክልኤ እልፍ።
Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?
14:32
εἰ δὲ μήγε, ἔτι αὐτοῦ πόρρω ὄντος πρεσβείαν ἀποστείλας ἐρωτᾷ τὰ πρὸς εἰρήνην.
Alioquin adhuc illo longe agente, legationem mittens rogat ea quae pacis sunt.
ወእመ አኮሰ እንዘ ርኁቅ ውእቱ ይፌኑ ሐዋርያተ ትንብልና ኀቤሁ ወይዜንውዎ ሰላመ።
Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy and asks for conditions of peace.
14:33
οὕτως οὖν πᾶς ἐξ ὑμῶν ὃς οὐκ ἀποτάσσεται πᾶσιν τοῖς ἑαυτοῦ ὑπάρχουσιν οὐ δύναται εἶναί μου μαθητής.
Sic ergo omnis ex vobis, qui non renuntiat omnibus quae possidet, non potest meus esse discipulus.
ወከመዝ እንከ ኵሉ ዘእምኔክሙ ዘኢወፅአ እምኵሉ ወዘኢይትናከር ኵሎ ዘዚኣሁ ንዋየ ኢይክል ከዊነ ረድእየ።
So therefore, whoever of you who doesn’t renounce all that he has, he can’t be my disciple.
14:34
Καλὸν οὖν τὸ ἅλα· ἐὰν δὲ καὶ τὸ ἅλα μωρανθῇ, ἐν τίνι ἀρτυθήσεται;
Bonum est sal : si autem sal evanuerit, in quo condietur ?
ሠናይ ውእቱ ጼው ወእመሰ ጼው ለስሐ በምንት እንከ ይቄስምዎ።
“Salt is good, but if the salt becomes flat and tasteless, with what do you season it?
14:35
οὔτε εἰς γῆν οὔτε εἰς κοπρίαν εὔθετόν ἐστιν· ἔξω βάλλουσιν αὐτό. ὁ ἔχων ὦτα ἀκουέτω.
Neque in terram, neque in sterquilinium utile est, sed foras mittetur. Qui habet aures audiendi, audiat.
