13:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא נִקְרָ֛א בְּסֵ֥פֶר מֹשֶׁ֖ה בְּאׇזְנֵ֣י הָעָ֑ם וְנִמְצָא֙ כָּת֣וּב בּ֔וֹ אֲ֠שֶׁ֠ר לֹא ־יָב֨וֹא עַמֹּנִ֧י וּמוֹאָבִ֛י בִּקְהַ֥ל הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים עַד ־עוֹלָֽם ׃
ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἀνεγνώσθη ἐν βιβλίῳ Μωυσῆ ἐν ὠσὶν τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ εὑρέθη γεγραμμένον ἐν αὐτῷ ὅπως μὴ εἰσέλθωσιν Αμμανῖται καὶ Μωαβῖται ἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ θεοῦ ἕως αἰῶνος
In die autem illo , lectum est in volumine Moysi , audiente populo : et inventum est scriptum in eo , quod non debeant introire Ammonites et Moabites in ecclesiam Dei usque in aeternum :
On that day they read in the book of Moses in the hearing of the people; and it was found written in it that an Ammonite and a Moabite should not enter into the assembly of God forever,
13:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֣י לֹ֧א קִדְּמ֛וּ אֶת ־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בַּלֶּ֣חֶם וּבַמָּ֑יִם וַיִּשְׂכֹּ֨ר עָלָ֤יו אֶת ־בִּלְעָם֙ לְקַֽלְל֔וֹ וַיַּהֲפֹ֧ךְ אֱלֹהֵ֛ינוּ הַקְּלָלָ֖ה לִבְרָכָֽה ׃
ὅτι οὐ συνήντησαν τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ ἐν ἄρτῳ καὶ ἐν ὕδατι καὶ ἐμισθώσαντο ἐπ’ αὐτὸν τὸν Βαλααμ καταράσασθαι καὶ ἔστρεψεν ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν τὴν κατάραν εἰς εὐλογίαν
eo quod non occurrerint filiis Israël cum pane et aqua , et conduxerint adversum eos Balaam ad maledicendum eis : et convertit Deus noster maledictionem in benedictionem .
because they didn’t meet the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them; however, our God turned the curse into a blessing.
13:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִ֖י כְּשׇׁמְעָ֣ם אֶת ־הַתּוֹרָ֑ה וַיַּבְדִּ֥ילוּ כׇל ־עֵ֖רֶב מִיִּשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσαν τὸν νόμον καὶ ἐχωρίσθησαν πᾶς ἐπίμικτος ἐν Ισραηλ
Factum est autem , cum audissent legem , separaverunt omnem alienigenam ab Israël .
It came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated all the mixed multitude from Israel.
13:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְלִפְנֵ֣י מִזֶּ֔ה אֶלְיָשִׁיב֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן נָת֖וּן בְּלִשְׁכַּ֣ת בֵּית ־אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ קָר֖וֹב לְטוֹבִיָּֽה ׃
καὶ πρὸ τούτου Ελιασιβ ὁ ἱερεὺς οἰκῶν ἐν γαζοφυλακίῳ οἴκου θεοῦ ἡμῶν ἐγγίων Τωβια
Et super hoc erat Eliasib sacerdos , qui fuerat praepositus in gazophylacio domus Dei nostri , et proximus Tobiae .
Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the rooms of the house of our God, being allied to Tobiah,
13:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֨עַשׂ ל֜וֹ לִשְׁכָּ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֗ה וְשָׁ֣ם הָי֪וּ לְפָנִ֟ים נֹ֠תְנִ֠ים אֶת ־הַמִּנְחָ֨ה הַלְּבוֹנָ֜ה וְהַכֵּלִ֗ים וּמַעְשַׂ֤ר הַדָּגָן֙ הַתִּיר֣וֹשׁ וְהַיִּצְהָ֔ר מִצְוַת֙ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִ֖ים וְהַשּׁוֹעֲרִ֑ים וּתְרוּמַ֖ת הַכֹּהֲנִֽים ׃
καὶ ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ γαζοφυλάκιον μέγα καὶ ἐκεῖ ἦσαν πρότερον διδόντες τὴν μανααν καὶ τὸν λίβανον καὶ τὰ σκεύη καὶ τὴν δεκάτην τοῦ σίτου καὶ τοῦ οἴνου καὶ τοῦ ἐλαίου ἐντολὴν τῶν Λευιτῶν καὶ τῶν ᾀδόντων καὶ τῶν πυλωρῶν καὶ ἀπαρχὰς τῶν ἱερέων
Fecit ergo sibi gazophylacium grande , et ibi erant ante eum reponentes munera , et thus , et vasa , et decimam frumenti , vini , et olei , partes Levitarum , et cantorum , et janitorum , et primitias sacerdotales .
had prepared for him a great room, where before they laid the meal offerings, the frankincense, the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites, the singers, and the gatekeepers; and the wave offerings for the priests.
13:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּבְכׇל ־זֶ֕ה לֹ֥א הָיִ֖יתִי בִּֽירוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם כִּ֡י בִּשְׁנַת֩ שְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים וּשְׁתַּ֜יִם לְאַרְתַּחְשַׁ֤סְתְּא מֶֽלֶךְ ־בָּבֶל֙ בָּ֣אתִי אֶל ־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וּלְקֵ֥ץ יָמִ֖ים נִשְׁאַ֥לְתִּי מִן ־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ ׃
καὶ ἐν παντὶ τούτῳ οὐκ ἤμην ἐν Ιερουσαλημ ὅτι ἐν ἔτει τριακοστῷ καὶ δευτέρῳ τοῦ Αρθασασθα βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος ἦλθον πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα καὶ μετὰ τέλος ἡμερῶν ᾐτησάμην παρὰ τοῦ βασιλέως
In omnibus autem his non fui in Jerusalem , quia anno trigesimo secundo Artaxerxis regis Babylonis veni ad regem , et in fine dierum rogavi regem .
But in all this, I was not at Jerusalem; for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I went to the king; and after some days I asked leave of the king,
13:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאָב֖וֹא לִֽירוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וָאָבִ֣ינָה בָרָעָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשָׂ֤ה אֶלְיָשִׁיב֙ לְט֣וֹבִיָּ֔ה לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לוֹ֙ נִשְׁכָּ֔ה בְּחַצְרֵ֖י בֵּ֥ית הָאֱלֹהִֽים ׃
καὶ ἦλθον εἰς Ιερουσαλημ καὶ συνῆκα ἐν τῇ πονηρίᾳ ᾗ ἐποίησεν Ελισουβ τῷ Τωβια ποιῆσαι αὐτῷ γαζοφυλάκιον ἐν αὐλῇ οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ
Et veni in Jerusalem , et intellexi malum quod fecerat Eliasib Tobiae , ut faceret ei thesaurum in vestibulis domus Dei .
and I came to Jerusalem, and understood the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in preparing him a room in the courts of God’s house.
13:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֵּ֥רַֽע לִ֖י מְאֹ֑ד וָֽאַשְׁלִ֜יכָה אֶֽת ־כׇּל ־כְּלֵ֧י בֵית ־טוֹבִיָּ֛ה הַח֖וּץ מִן ־הַלִּשְׁכָּֽה ׃
καὶ πονηρόν μοι ἐφάνη σφόδρα καὶ ἔρριψα πάντα τὰ σκεύη οἴκου Τωβια ἔξω ἀπὸ τοῦ γαζοφυλακίου
Et malum mihi visum est valde . Et projeci vasa domus Tobiae foras de gazophylacio :
It grieved me severely. Therefore I threw all Tobiah’s household stuff out of the room.
13:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֹ֣מְרָ֔ה וַֽיְטַהֲר֖וּ הַלְּשָׁכ֑וֹת וָאָשִׁ֣יבָה שָּׁ֗ם כְּלֵי֙ בֵּ֣ית הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים אֶת ־הַמִּנְחָ֖ה וְהַלְּבוֹנָֽה ׃ {פ}
καὶ εἶπα καὶ ἐκαθάρισαν τὰ γαζοφυλάκια καὶ ἐπέστρεψα ἐκεῖ σκεύη οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ τὴν μαναα καὶ τὸν λίβανον
praecepique et emundaverunt gazophylacia : et retuli ibi vasa domus Dei , sacrificium , et thus .
Then I commanded, and they cleansed the rooms. I brought into them the vessels of God’s house, with the meal offerings and the frankincense again.
13:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֵ֣דְעָ֔ה כִּֽי ־מְנָי֥וֹת הַלְוִיִּ֖ם לֹ֣א נִתָּ֑נָה וַיִּבְרְח֧וּ אִישׁ ־לְשָׂדֵ֛הוּ הַלְוִיִּ֥ם וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִ֖ים עֹשֵׂ֥י הַמְּלָאכָֽה ׃
καὶ ἔγνων ὅτι μερίδες τῶν Λευιτῶν οὐκ ἐδόθησαν καὶ ἐφύγοσαν ἀνὴρ εἰς ἀγρὸν αὐτοῦ οἱ Λευῖται καὶ οἱ ᾄδοντες ποιοῦντες τὸ ἔργον
Et cognovi quod partes Levitarum non fuissent datae , et fugisset unusquisque in regionem suam de Levitis , et cantoribus , et de his qui ministrabant :
I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them, so that the Levites and the singers, who did the work, had each fled to his field.
13:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאָרִ֙יבָה֙ אֶת ־הַסְּגָנִ֔ים וָאֹ֣מְרָ֔ה מַדּ֖וּעַ נֶעֱזַ֣ב בֵּית ־הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וָֽאֶקְבְּצֵ֔ם וָֽאַעֲמִדֵ֖ם עַל ־עׇמְדָֽם ׃
καὶ ἐμαχεσάμην τοῖς στρατηγοῖς καὶ εἶπα διὰ τί ἐγκατελείφθη ὁ οἶκος τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ συνήγαγον αὐτοὺς καὶ ἔστησα αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ τῇ στάσει αὐτῶν
et egi causam adversus magistratus , et dixi : Quare dereliquimus domum Dei ? et congregavi eos , et feci stare in stationibus suis .
Then I contended with the rulers, and said, “Why is God’s house forsaken?” I gathered them together, and set them in their place.
13:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְכׇל ־יְהוּדָ֗ה הֵבִ֜יאוּ מַעְשַׂ֧ר הַדָּגָ֛ן וְהַתִּיר֥וֹשׁ וְהַיִּצְהָ֖ר לָאוֹצָרֽוֹת ׃
καὶ πᾶς Ιουδα ἤνεγκαν δεκάτην τοῦ πυροῦ καὶ τοῦ οἴνου καὶ τοῦ ἐλαίου εἰς τοὺς θησαυροὺς
Et omnis Juda apportabat decimam frumenti , vini , et olei , in horrea .
Then all Judah brought the tithe of the grain, the new wine, and the oil to the treasuries.
13:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאוֹצְרָ֣ה עַל ־א֠וֹצָר֠וֹת שֶׁלֶמְיָ֨ה הַכֹּהֵ֜ן וְצָד֣וֹק הַסּוֹפֵ֗ר וּפְדָיָה֙ מִן ־הַלְוִיִּ֔ם וְעַ֨ל ־יָדָ֔ם חָנָ֥ן בֶּן ־זַכּ֖וּר בֶּן ־מַתַּנְיָ֑ה כִּ֤י נֶאֱמָנִים֙ נֶחְשָׁ֔בוּ וַעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם לַחֲלֹ֥ק לַאֲחֵיהֶֽם ׃ {פ}
ἐπὶ χεῖρα Σελεμια τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ Σαδδουκ τοῦ γραμματέως καὶ Φαδαια ἀπὸ τῶν Λευιτῶν καὶ ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτῶν Αναν υἱὸς Ζακχουρ υἱὸς Μαθανια ὅτι πιστοὶ ἐλογίσθησαν ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς μερίζειν τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτῶν
Et constituimus super horrea Selemiam sacerdotem , et Sadoc scribam , et Phadaiam de Levitis , et juxta eos Hanan filium Zachur , filium Mathaniae : quoniam fideles comprobati sunt , et ipsis creditae sunt partes fratrum suorum .
I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah; for they were counted faithful, and their business was to distribute to their brothers.
13:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ זׇכְרָה ־לִּ֥י אֱלֹהַ֖י עַל ־זֹ֑את וְאַל ־תֶּ֣מַח חֲסָדַ֗י אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשִׂ֛יתִי בְּבֵ֥ית אֱלֹהַ֖י וּבְמִשְׁמָרָֽיו ׃
μνήσθητί μου ὁ θεός ἐν ταύτῃ καὶ μὴ ἐξαλειφθήτω ἔλεός μου ὃ ἐποίησα ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ
Memento mei , Deus meus , pro hoc , et ne deleas miserationes meas quas feci in domo Dei mei , et in caeremoniis ejus .
Remember me, my God, concerning this, and don’t wipe out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for its observances.
13:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָהֵ֡מָּה רָאִ֣יתִי בִֽיהוּדָ֣ה ׀דֹּֽרְכִֽים ־גִּתּ֣וֹת ׀בַּשַּׁבָּ֡ת וּמְבִיאִ֣ים הָעֲרֵמ֣וֹת וְֽעֹמְסִ֪ים עַל ־הַחֲמֹרִ֟ים וְאַף ־יַ֜יִן עֲנָבִ֤ים וּתְאֵנִים֙ וְכׇל ־מַשָּׂ֔א וּמְבִיאִ֥ים יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם בְּי֣וֹם הַשַּׁבָּ֑ת וָאָעִ֕יד בְּי֖וֹם מִכְרָ֥ם צָֽיִד ׃
ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις εἶδον ἐν Ιουδα πατοῦντας ληνοὺς ἐν τῷ σαββάτῳ καὶ φέροντας δράγματα καὶ ἐπιγεμίζοντας ἐπὶ τοὺς ὄνους καὶ οἶνον καὶ σταφυλὴν καὶ σῦκα καὶ πᾶν βάσταγμα καὶ φέροντας εἰς Ιερουσαλημ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ σαββάτου καὶ ἐπεμαρτυράμην ἐν ἡμέρᾳ πράσεως αὐτῶν
In diebus illis vidi in Juda calcantes torcularia in sabbato , portantes acervos , et onerantes super asinos vinum , et uvas , et ficus , et omne onus , et inferentes in Jerusalem , die sabbati . Et contestatus sum ut in die qua vendere liceret , venderent .
In those days I saw some men treading wine presses on the Sabbath in Judah, bringing in sheaves, and loading donkeys with wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of burdens which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day; and I testified against them in the day in which they sold food.
13:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהַצֹּרִים֙ יָ֣שְׁבוּ בָ֔הּ מְבִיאִ֥ים דָּ֖אג וְכׇל ־מֶ֑כֶר וּמוֹכְרִ֧ים בַּשַּׁבָּ֛ת לִבְנֵ֥י יְהוּדָ֖ה וּבִירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם ׃
καὶ ἐκάθισαν ἐν αὐτῇ φέροντες ἰχθὺν καὶ πᾶσαν πρᾶσιν πωλοῦντες ἐν τῷ σαββάτῳ τοῖς υἱοῖς Ιουδα καὶ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ
Et Tyrii habitaverunt in ea , inferentes pisces , et omnia venalia : et vendebant in sabbatis filiis Juda in Jerusalem .
Some men of Tyre also lived there, who brought in fish and all kinds of wares, and sold on the Sabbath to the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.
13:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאָרִ֕יבָה אֵ֖ת חֹרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה וָאֹמְרָ֣ה לָהֶ֗ם מָֽה ־הַדָּבָ֨ר הָרָ֤ע הַזֶּה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אַתֶּ֣ם עֹשִׂ֔ים וּֽמְחַלְּלִ֖ים אֶת ־י֥וֹם הַשַּׁבָּֽת ׃
καὶ ἐμαχεσάμην τοῖς υἱοῖς Ιουδα τοῖς ἐλευθέροις καὶ εἶπα αὐτοῖς τίς ὁ λόγος οὗτος ὁ πονηρός ὃν ὑμεῖς ποιεῖτε καὶ βεβηλοῦτε τὴν ἡμέραν τοῦ σαββάτου
Et objurgavi optimates Juda , et dixi eis : Quae est haec res mala quam vos facitis , et profanatis diem sabbati ?
Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said to them, “What evil thing is this that you do, and profane the Sabbath day?
13:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ הֲל֨וֹא כֹ֤ה עָשׂוּ֙ אֲבֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם וַיָּבֵ֨א אֱלֹהֵ֜ינוּ עָלֵ֗ינוּ אֵ֚ת כׇּל ־הָרָעָ֣ה הַזֹּ֔את וְעַ֖ל הָעִ֣יר הַזֹּ֑את וְאַתֶּ֞ם מוֹסִיפִ֤ים חָרוֹן֙ עַל ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לְחַלֵּ֖ל אֶת ־הַשַּׁבָּֽת ׃ {פ}
οὐχὶ οὕτως ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν καὶ ἤνεγκεν ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν καὶ ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς πάντα τὰ κακὰ ταῦτα καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν πόλιν ταύτην καὶ ὑμεῖς προστίθετε ὀργὴν ἐπὶ Ισραηλ βεβηλῶσαι τὸ σάββατον
numquid non haec fecerunt patres nostri , et adduxit Deus noster super nos omne malum hoc , et super civitatem hanc ? et vos additis iracundiam super Israël violando sabbatum .
Didn’t your fathers do this, and didn’t our God bring all this evil on us and on this city? Yet you bring more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”
13:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִ֡י כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר צָֽלְלוּ֩ שַׁעֲרֵ֨י יְרוּשָׁלַ֜͏ִם לִפְנֵ֣י הַשַּׁבָּ֗ת וָאֹֽמְרָה֙ וַיִּסָּגְר֣וּ הַדְּלָת֔וֹת וָאֹ֣מְרָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר֙ לֹ֣א יִפְתָּח֔וּם עַ֖ד אַחַ֣ר הַשַּׁבָּ֑ת וּמִנְּעָרַ֗י הֶֽעֱמַ֙דְתִּי֙ עַל ־הַשְּׁעָרִ֔ים לֹא ־יָב֥וֹא מַשָּׂ֖א בְּי֥וֹם הַשַּׁבָּֽת ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα κατέστησαν πύλαι Ιερουσαλημ πρὸ τοῦ σαββάτου καὶ εἶπα καὶ ἔκλεισαν τὰς πύλας καὶ εἶπα ὥστε μὴ ἀνοιγῆναι αὐτὰς ἕως ὀπίσω τοῦ σαββάτου καὶ ἐκ τῶν παιδαρίων μου ἔστησα ἐπὶ τὰς πύλας ὥστε μὴ αἴρειν βαστάγματα ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ σαββάτου
Factum est autem , cum quievissent portae Jerusalem in die sabbati , dixi : et clauserunt januas , et praecepi ut non aperirent eas usque post sabbatum : et de pueris meis constitui super portas , ut nullus inferret onus in die sabbati .
It came to pass that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut, and commanded that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. I set some of my servants over the gates, so that no burden should be brought in on the Sabbath day.
13:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיָּלִ֨ינוּ הָרֹכְלִ֜ים וּמֹכְרֵ֧י כׇל ־מִמְכָּ֛ר מִח֥וּץ לִירוּשָׁלָ֖͏ִם פַּ֥עַם וּשְׁתָּֽיִם ׃
καὶ ηὐλίσθησαν πάντες καὶ ἐποίησαν πρᾶσιν ἔξω Ιερουσαλημ ἅπαξ καὶ δίς
Et manserunt negotiatores , et vendentes universa venalia , foris Jerusalem semel et bis .
So the merchants and sellers of all kinds of wares camped outside of Jerusalem once or twice.
13:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאָעִ֣ידָה בָהֶ֗ם וָאֹמְרָ֤ה אֲלֵיהֶם֙ מַדּ֜וּעַ אַתֶּ֤ם לֵנִים֙ נֶ֣גֶד הַחוֹמָ֔ה אִם ־תִּשְׁנ֕וּ יָ֖ד אֶשְׁלַ֣ח בָּכֶ֑ם מִן ־הָעֵ֣ת הַהִ֔יא לֹא ־בָ֖אוּ בַּשַּׁבָּֽת ׃ {פ}
καὶ διεμαρτυράμην ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ εἶπα πρὸς αὐτούς διὰ τί ὑμεῖς αὐλίζεσθε ἀπέναντι τοῦ τείχους ἐὰν δευτερώσητε ἐκτενῶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐν ὑμῖν ἀπὸ τοῦ καιροῦ ἐκείνου οὐκ ἤλθοσαν ἐν σαββάτῳ
Et contestatus sum eos , et dixi eis : Quare manetis ex adverso muri ? si secundo hoc feceritis , manum mittam in vos . Itaque ex tempore illo non venerunt in sabbato .
Then I testified against them, and said to them, “Why do you stay around the wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on you.” From that time on, they didn’t come on the Sabbath.
13:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֹמְרָ֣ה לַלְוִיִּ֗ם אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִֽהְי֤וּ מִֽטַּהֲרִים֙ וּבָאִים֙ שֹׁמְרִ֣ים הַשְּׁעָרִ֔ים לְקַדֵּ֖שׁ אֶת ־י֣וֹם הַשַּׁבָּ֑ת גַּם ־זֹאת֙ זׇכְרָה ־לִּ֣י אֱלֹהַ֔י וְח֥וּסָה עָלַ֖י כְּרֹ֥ב חַסְדֶּֽךָ ׃ {פ}
καὶ εἶπα τοῖς Λευίταις οἳ ἦσαν καθαριζόμενοι καὶ ἐρχόμενοι φυλάσσοντες τὰς πύλας ἁγιάζειν τὴν ἡμέραν τοῦ σαββάτου πρὸς ταῦτα μνήσθητί μου ὁ θεός καὶ φεῖσαί μου κατὰ τὸ πλῆθος τοῦ ἐλέους σου
Dixi quoque Levitis ut mundarentur , et venirent ad custodiendas portas , et sanctificandam diem sabbati : et pro hoc ergo memento mei , Deus meus , et parce mihi secundum multitudinem miserationum tuarum .
I commanded the Levites that they should purify themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the Sabbath day. Remember me for this also, my God, and spare me according to the greatness of your loving kindness.
13:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ גַּ֣ם ׀ בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָהֵ֗ם רָאִ֤יתִי אֶת ־הַיְּהוּדִים֙ הֹשִׁ֗יבוּ נָשִׁים֙ (אשדודיות ) [אַשְׁדֳּדִיּ֔וֹת ] (עמוניות ) [עַמֳּנִיּ֖וֹת ] מוֹאֲבִיּֽוֹת ׃
καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις εἶδον τοὺς Ιουδαίους οἳ ἐκάθισαν γυναῖκας Ἀζωτίας Αμμανίτιδας Μωαβίτιδας
Sed et in diebus illis vidi Judaeos ducentes uxores Azotidas , Ammonitidas , et Moabitidas .
In those days I also saw the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab;
13:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּבְנֵיהֶ֗ם חֲצִי֙ מְדַבֵּ֣ר אַשְׁדּוֹדִ֔ית וְאֵינָ֥ם מַכִּירִ֖ים לְדַבֵּ֣ר יְהוּדִ֑ית וְכִלְשׁ֖וֹן עַ֥ם וָעָֽם ׃
καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτῶν ἥμισυ λαλοῦντες Ἀζωτιστὶ καὶ οὔκ εἰσιν ἐπιγινώσκοντες λαλεῖν Ιουδαϊστί
Et filii eorum ex media parte loquebantur azotice , et nesciebant loqui judaice , et loquebantur juxta linguam populi et populi .
and their children spoke half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people.
13:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאָרִ֤יב עִמָּם֙ וָאֲקַֽלְלֵ֔ם וָאַכֶּ֥ה מֵהֶ֛ם אֲנָשִׁ֖ים וָֽאֶמְרְטֵ֑ם וָאַשְׁבִּיעֵ֣ם בֵּֽאלֹהִ֗ים אִם ־תִּתְּנ֤וּ בְנֹֽתֵיכֶם֙ לִבְנֵיהֶ֔ם וְאִם ־תִּשְׂאוּ֙ מִבְּנֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔ם לִבְנֵיכֶ֖ם וְלָכֶֽם ׃
καὶ ἐμαχεσάμην μετ’ αὐτῶν καὶ κατηρασάμην αὐτοὺς καὶ ἐπάταξα ἐν αὐτοῖς ἄνδρας καὶ ἐμαδάρωσα αὐτοὺς καὶ ὥρκισα αὐτοὺς ἐν τῷ θεῷ ἐὰν δῶτε τὰς θυγατέρας ὑμῶν τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτῶν καὶ ἐὰν λάβητε ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων αὐτῶν τοῖς υἱοῖς ὑμῶν
Et objurgavi eos , et maledixi . Et cecidi ex eis viros , et decalvavi eos , et adjuravi in Deo ut non darent filias suas filiis eorum , et non acciperent de filiabus eorum filiis suis et sibimetipsis , dicens :
I contended with them, cursed them, struck certain of them, plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters for your sons, or for yourselves.
13:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ הֲל֣וֹא עַל ־אֵ֣לֶּה חָטָֽא ־שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל וּבַגּוֹיִ֣ם הָרַבִּים֩ לֹֽא ־הָיָ֨ה מֶ֜לֶךְ כָּמֹ֗הוּ וְאָה֤וּב לֵֽאלֹהָיו֙ הָיָ֔ה וַיִּתְּנֵ֣הוּ אֱלֹהִ֔ים מֶ֖לֶךְ עַל ־כׇּל ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל גַּם ־אוֹת֣וֹ הֶחֱטִ֔יאוּ הַנָּשִׁ֖ים הַנׇּכְרִיּֽוֹת ׃
οὐχ οὕτως ἥμαρτεν Σαλωμων βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ καὶ ἐν ἔθνεσιν πολλοῖς οὐκ ἦν βασιλεὺς ὅμοιος αὐτῷ καὶ ἀγαπώμενος τῷ θεῷ ἦν καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸν ὁ θεὸς εἰς βασιλέα ἐπὶ πάντα Ισραηλ καὶ τοῦτον ἐξέκλιναν αἱ γυναῖκες αἱ ἀλλότριαι
Numquid non in hujuscemodi re peccavit Salomon rex Israël ? et certe in gentibus multis non erat rex similis ei , et dilectus Deo suo erat , et posuit eum Deus regem super omnem Israël : et ipsum ergo duxerunt ad peccatum mulieres alienigenae .
Didn’t Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations there was no king like him, and he was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless foreign women caused even him to sin.
13:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְלָכֶ֣ם הֲנִשְׁמַ֗ע לַעֲשֹׂת֙ אֵ֣ת כׇּל ־הָרָעָ֤ה הַגְּדוֹלָה֙ הַזֹּ֔את לִמְעֹ֖ל בֵּֽאלֹהֵ֑ינוּ לְהֹשִׁ֖יב נָשִׁ֥ים נׇכְרִיּֽוֹת ׃
καὶ ὑμῶν μὴ ἀκουσόμεθα ποιῆσαι τὴν πᾶσαν πονηρίαν ταύτην ἀσυνθετῆσαι ἐν τῷ θεῷ ἡμῶν καθίσαι γυναῖκας ἀλλοτρίας
Numquid et nos inobedientes faciemus omne malum grande hoc ut praevaricemur in Deo nostro , et ducamus uxores peregrinas ?
Shall we then listen to you to do all this great evil, to trespass against our God in marrying foreign women?”
13:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּמִבְּנֵ֨י יוֹיָדָ֤ע בֶּן ־אֶלְיָשִׁיב֙ הַכֹּהֵ֣ן הַגָּד֔וֹל חָתָ֖ן לְסַנְבַלַּ֣ט הַחֹרֹנִ֑י וָאַבְרִיחֵ֖הוּ מֵעָלָֽי ׃
καὶ ἀπὸ υἱῶν Ιωαδα τοῦ Ελισουβ τοῦ ἱερέως τοῦ μεγάλου νυμφίου τοῦ Σαναβαλλατ τοῦ Ωρωνίτου καὶ ἐξέβρασα αὐτὸν ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ
De filiis autem Jojada filii Eliasib sacerdotis magni , gener erat Sanaballat Horonites , quem fugavi a me .
One of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite; therefore I chased him from me.
13:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ זׇכְרָ֥ה לָהֶ֖ם אֱלֹהָ֑י עַ֚ל גׇּאֳלֵ֣י הַכְּהֻנָּ֔ה וּבְרִ֥ית הַכְּהֻנָּ֖ה וְהַלְוִיִּֽם ׃
μνήσθητι αὐτοῖς ὁ θεός ἐπὶ ἀγχιστείᾳ τῆς ἱερατείας καὶ διαθήκης τῆς ἱερατείας καὶ τοὺς Λευίτας
Recordare , Domine Deus meus , adversum eos qui polluunt sacerdotium , jusque sacerdotale et Leviticum .
Remember them, my God, because they have defiled the priesthood and the covenant of the priesthood and of the Levites.
13:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְטִֽהַרְתִּ֖ים מִכׇּל ־נֵכָ֑ר {פ} וָאַעֲמִ֧ידָה מִשְׁמָר֛וֹת לַכֹּהֲנִ֥ים וְלַלְוִיִּ֖ם אִ֥ישׁ בִּמְלַאכְתּֽוֹ ׃
καὶ ἐκαθάρισα αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ πάσης ἀλλοτριώσεως καὶ ἔστησα ἐφημερίας τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν καὶ τοῖς Λευίταις ἀνὴρ ὡς τὸ ἔργον αὐτοῦ
Igitur mundavi eos ab omnibus alienigenis , et constitui ordines sacerdotum et Levitarum , unumquemque in ministerio suo :
Thus I cleansed them from all foreigners and appointed duties for the priests and for the Levites, everyone in his work;
13:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּלְקֻרְבַּ֧ן הָעֵצִ֛ים בְּעִתִּ֥ים מְזֻמָּנ֖וֹת וְלַבִּכּוּרִ֑ים זׇכְרָה ־לִּ֥י אֱלֹהַ֖י לְטוֹבָֽה ׃
καὶ τὸ δῶρον τῶν ξυλοφόρων ἐν καιροῖς ἀπὸ χρόνων καὶ ἐν τοῖς βακχουρίοις μνήσθητί μου ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν εἰς ἀγαθωσύνην
et in oblatione lignorum in temporibus constitutis , et in primitivis : memento mei , Deus meus , in bonum . Amen .
and for the wood offering, at appointed times, and for the first fruits. Remember me, my God, for good.
