Psalms 13 — 4 originals side by side

Versification differs between traditions. Columns are aligned by verse number; where a text has no such verse the cell is left blank rather than forced into line. Tap any word for a gloss.

⚠️ The Chinese and English alongside are the CUV and the WEB, both translated from the Masoretic Text; they follow a different textual tradition from the Greek and Latin shown here and will disagree in places.

13:1
In finem. Psalmus David. Usquequo, Domine, oblivisceris me in finem ? usquequo avertis faciem tuam a me ?
How long, Yahweh? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
13:2
quamdiu ponam consilia in anima mea ; dolorem in corde meo per diem ?
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart every day? How long shall my enemy triumph over me?
13:3
usquequo exaltabitur inimicus meus super me ?
Behold, and answer me, Yahweh, my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death;
13:4
Respice, et exaudi me, Domine Deus meus. Illumina oculos meos, ne umquam obdormiam in morte ;
lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him;” lest my adversaries rejoice when I fall.
13:5
nequando dicat inimicus meus : Praevalui adversus eum. Qui tribulant me exsultabunt si motus fuero ;
But I trust in your loving kindness. My heart rejoices in your salvation.
13:6
וַאֲנִ֤י׀ בְּחַסְדְּךָ֣ בָטַחְתִּי֮ יָ֤גֵ֥ל לִבִּ֗י בִּישׁוּעָ֫תֶ֥ךָ אָשִׁ֥ירָה לַֽיהֹוָ֑ה כִּ֖י גָמַ֣ל עָלָֽי׃ {פ}
ego autem in misericordia tua speravi. Exsultabit cor meum in salutari tuo.
I will sing to Yahweh, because he has been good to me.
