18:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Μετὰ ταῦτα εἶδον ἄλλον ἄγγελον καταβαίνοντα ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ , ἔχοντα ἐξουσίαν μεγάλην , καὶ ἡ γῆ ἐφωτίσθη ἐκ τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ .
Et post haec vidi alium angelum descendentem de caelo , habentem potestatem magnam : et terra illuminata est a gloria ejus .
ወእምድኅረ ዝንቱ ወረደ ካልእ መልአክ እምሰማይ ወቦ ዐቢይ ሥልጣን ወበርሀት ምድር እምብርሃነ ገጹ ወእምስብሐቲሁ ።
After these things, I saw another angel coming down out of the sky, having great authority. The earth was illuminated with his glory.
18:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἔκραξεν ἐν ἰσχυρᾷ φωνῇ λέγων · ἔπεσεν , ἔπεσεν Βαβυλὼν ἡ μεγάλη , καὶ ἐγένετο κατοικητήριον δαιμονίων καὶ φυλακὴ παντὸς πνεύματος ἀκαθάρτου καὶ φυλακὴ παντὸς ὀρνέου ἀκαθάρτου καὶ μεμισημένου ,
Et exclamavit in fortitudine , dicens : Cecidit , cecidit Babylon magna : et facta est habitatio daemoniorum , et custodia omnis spiritus immundi , et custodia omnis volucris immundae , et odibilis :
ወጸርሐ በዐቢይ ቃል ወይቤ ወድቀት ባቢሎን ሀገር ዐባይ ወኮነት ማኅደረ ለአጋንንት ኀበ ይነብር ኵሉ ጋኔን ርኩስ ወምንባረ ኵሉ ዖፍ ርኩስ ወጽሉእ ወምንባረ ኵሉ አርዌ ርኩስ ።
He cried with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and she has become a habitation of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hated bird!
18:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ οἴνου τοῦ θυμοῦ τῆς πορνείας αὐτῆς πέπωκαν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη , καὶ οἱ βασιλεῖς τῆς γῆς μετ’ αὐτῆς ἐπόρνευσαν , καὶ οἱ ἔμποροι τῆς γῆς ἐκ τῆς δυνάμεως τοῦ στρήνους αὐτῆς ἐπλούτησαν .
quia de vino irae fornicationis ejus biberunt omnes gentes : et reges terrae cum illa fornicati sunt : et mercatores terrae de virtute deliciarum ejus divites facti sunt .
እስመ እምነ ሕምዘ ወይነ ዝሙታ ወድቁ ኵሎሙ አሕዛብ ወነገሥተ ምድርኒ እለ ዘመዉ ምስሌሃ ወሠየጠ ምድርኒ እለ በልዑ እምነ ኀይለ ነፈርዐጻ ።
For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality, the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from the abundance of her luxury.”
18:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἤκουσα ἄλλην φωνὴν ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ λέγουσαν , ἐξέλθατε , ὁ λαός μου , ἐξ αὐτῆς , ἵνα μὴ συνκοινωνήσητε ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις αὐτῆς , καὶ ἐκ τῶν πληγῶν αὐτῆς ἵνα μὴ λάβητε ·
Et audivi aliam vocem de caelo , dicentem : Exite de illa populus meus : ut ne participes sitis delictorum ejus , et de plagis ejus non accipiatis .
ወመጽአ ካልእ ቃል እምሰማይ ዘይብል ፃኡ ሕዝብየ እምኔሃ ከመ ኢትትካፈልዋ ኀጢአታ ወኢይርከብክሙ መቅሠፍታ ።
I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, that you have no participation in her sins, and that you don’t receive of her plagues,
18:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι ἐκολλήθησαν αὐτῆς αἱ ἁμαρτίαι ἄχρι τοῦ οὐρανοῦ , καὶ ἐμνημόνευσεν ὁ θεὸς τὰ ἀδικήματα αὐτῆς .
Quoniam pervenerunt peccata ejus usque ad caelum , et recordatus est Dominus iniquitatum ejus .
እስመ ተለዋ ኀጣውኢሃ እስከ ሰማይ ወተዘከረ ላቲ እግዚአብሔር ዐመፃሃ ።
for her sins have reached to the sky, and God has remembered her iniquities.
18:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπόδοτε αὐτῇ ὡς καὶ αὐτὴ ἀπέδωκεν , καὶ διπλώσατε τὰ διπλᾶ κατὰ τὰ ἔργα αὐτῆς · ἐν τῷ ποτηρίῳ ᾧ ἐκέρασεν κεράσατε αὐτῇ διπλοῦν ·
Reddite illi sicut et ipsa reddidit vobis : et duplicate duplicia secundum opera ejus : in poculo , quo miscuit , miscete illi duplum .
ወተበቀልዋ በከመ ይእቲ ተበቀለት ካዕበተ ምክዕቢት ዘከመ ገብረት ወበጽዋዕ ዘቀድሐት ቀድሑ ላቲ ካዕበቶ ።
Return to her just as she returned, and repay her double as she did, and according to her works. In the cup which she mixed, mix to her double.
18:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅσα ἐδόξασεν αὐτὴν καὶ ἐστρηνίασεν , τοσοῦτον δότε αὐτῇ βασανισμὸν καὶ πένθος . ὅτι ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῆς λέγει ὅτι κάθημαι βασίλισσα , καὶ χήρα οὐκ εἰμί , καὶ πένθος οὐ μὴ ἴδω ·
Quantum glorificavit se , et in deliciis fuit , tantum date illi tormentum et luctum : quia in corde suo dicit : Sedeo regina : et vidua non sum , et luctum non videbo .
ወአምጣነ ገፍዐት ወፈግዐት ከማሁ ሣቀይዋ ወአልሐውዋ እስመ ትቤ በልባ እነግሥ ለዝሉፉ ወኢይከውን መበለተ ወኢይሬኢ ላሐ ።
However much she glorified herself and grew wanton, so much give her of torment and mourning. For she says in her heart, ‘I sit a queen, and am no widow, and will in no way see mourning.’
18:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ διὰ τοῦτο ἐν μιᾷ ἡμέρᾳ ἥξουσιν αἱ πληγαὶ αὐτῆς , θάνατος καὶ πένθος καὶ λιμός , καὶ ἐν πυρὶ κατακαυθήσεται · ὅτι ἰσχυρὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ κρίνας αὐτήν .
Ideo in una die venient plagae ejus , mors , et luctus , et fames , et igne comburetur : quia fortis est Deus , qui judicabit illam .
ወበእንተ ዝንቱ በአሐቲ ሰዓት ይመጽእ ላዕሌሃ መቅሠፍታ ሞት ወላሕኒ ወረኀብኒ ወያውዕይዋ በእሳት እስመ ጽኑዕ ውእቱ እግዚአብሔር ዘይትቤቀላ ።
Therefore in one day her plagues will come: death, mourning, and famine; and she will be utterly burned with fire, for the Lord God who has judged her is strong.
18:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ κλαύσουσιν καὶ κόψονται ἐπ’ αὐτὴν οἱ βασιλεῖς τῆς γῆς οἱ μετ’ αὐτῆς πορνεύσαντες καὶ στρηνιάσαντες , ὅταν βλέπωσιν τὸν καπνὸν τῆς πυρώσεως αὐτῆς ,
Et flebunt , et plangent se super illam reges terrae , qui cum illa fornicati sunt , et in deliciis vixerunt , cum viderint fumum incendii ejus :
ወይበክዩ ላዕሌሃ ነገሥተ ምድር ወይሬእይዋ እለ ዘመዉ ወፈግዑ ምስሌሃ ።
The kings of the earth who committed sexual immorality and lived wantonly with her will weep and wail over her, when they look at the smoke of her burning,
18:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἑστηκότες διὰ τὸν φόβον τοῦ βασανισμοῦ αὐτῆς , λέγοντες , οὐαὶ οὐαί , ἡ πόλις ἡ μεγάλη , Βαβυλὼν ἡ πόλις ἡ ἰσχυρά , ὅτι μιᾷ ὥρᾳ ἦλθεν ἡ κρίσις σου .
longe stantes propter timorem tormentorum ejus , dicentes : Vae , vae civitas illa magna Babylon , civitas illa fortis : quoniam una hora venit judicium tuum .
ወሶበ ርእዩ ጢሰ እሳታ እምርኁቅ ቆሙ በእንተ ፍርሀተ ሥቃያ ወይቤሉ አሌ ላ አሌ ላ ለሀገር ባቢሎን ዐባይ ለሀገር ጽንዕት እስመ በጽሐት ሰዓተ ደይና ።
standing far away for the fear of her torment, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For your judgment has come in one hour.’
18:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ οἱ ἔμποροι τῆς γῆς κλαίουσιν καὶ πενθοῦσιν ἐπ’ αὐτήν , ὅτι τὸν γόμον αὐτῶν οὐδεὶς ἀγοράζει οὐκέτι ,
Et negotiatores terrae flebunt , et lugebunt super illam : quoniam merces eorum nemo emet amplius :
ወይበክይዋ ሠየጠ ምድርኒ ወይላሕውዋ እስመ አልቦሙ ዘይሣየጥ ሎሙ ገራውሂሆሙ ።
The merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise any more:
18:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ γόμον χρυσοῦ καὶ ἀργύρου καὶ λίθου τιμίου καὶ μαργαριτῶν καὶ βυσσίνου καὶ πορφύρας καὶ σιρικοῦ καὶ κοκκίνου , καὶ πᾶν ξύλον θύϊον καὶ πᾶν σκεῦος ἐλεφάντινον καὶ πᾶν σκεῦος ἐκ ξύλου τιμιωτάτου καὶ χαλκοῦ καὶ σιδήρου καὶ μαρμάρου ,
merces auri , et argenti , et lapidis pretiosi , et margaritae , et byssi , et purpurae , et serici , et cocci (et omne lignum thyinum , et omnia vasa eboris , et omnia vasa de lapide pretioso , et aeramento , et ferro , et marmore ,
ወርቀ ወብሩረ ወዕንቈ ክቡረ ወባሕርየ ወሜላተ ወአዝመረ ወለየ ወሰንሰሪቋተ ወኵሎ ዕፀ ሕቍ ወኵሎ ንዋየ ዘቀርነ ነጌ ወኵሎ ሠርጐ ዘቦ ዕንቍ ክቡር ወብርተ ወኀጺነ ወባላቀ ወርኳመ ።
merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple, silk, scarlet, all expensive wood, every vessel of ivory, every vessel made of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble;
18:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ κιννάμωμον καὶ ἄμωμον καὶ θυμιάματα καὶ μύρον καὶ λίβανον καὶ οἶνον καὶ ἔλαιον καὶ σεμίδαλιν καὶ σῖτον καὶ κτήνη καὶ πρόβατα , καὶ ἵππων καὶ ῥεδῶν καὶ σωμάτων , καὶ ψυχὰς ἀνθρώπων .
et cinnamomum ) et odoramentorum , et unguenti , et thuris , et vini , et olei , et similae , et tritici , et jumentorum , et ovium , et equorum , et rhedarum , et mancipiorum , et animarum hominum .
ወቀናንሞ ወአበሞ ወዕጣነ ወሜሮነ ወስኂነ ወወይነ ወቅብዐ ወሥንዳሌ ወሥርናየ ወእንስሳ ወአባግዐ ወአፍራሰ ወሪዶነ ወፄዋ ወነፍሰ ሰብእ ።
and cinnamon, incense, perfume, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, horses, chariots, and people’s bodies and souls.
18:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἡ ὀπώρα σου τῆς ἐπιθυμίας τῆς ψυχῆς ἀπῆλθεν ἀπὸ σοῦ , καὶ πάντα τὰ λιπαρὰ καὶ τὰ λαμπρὰ ἀπώλοντο ἀπὸ σοῦ , καὶ οὐκέτι οὐ μὴ αὐτὰ εὑρήσουσιν .
Et poma desiderii animae tuae discesserunt a te , et omnia pinguia et praeclara perierunt a te , et amplius illa jam non invenient .
ወአቅማሐትኪ ተኀድገ እምኔኪ ወኵሉ ስብሐትኪ ወብርሃንኪ ደመነ ወኢይረክብዎ እንከ ሠየጥኪ ለዝንቱ በውስቴትኪ ።
The fruits which your soul lusted after have been lost to you. All things that were dainty and sumptuous have perished from you, and you will find them no more at all.
18:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ ἔμποροι τούτων , οἱ πλουτήσαντες ἀπ’ αὐτῆς , ἀπὸ μακρόθεν στήσονται διὰ τὸν φόβον τοῦ βασανισμοῦ αὐτῆς , κλαίοντες καὶ πενθοῦντες ,
Mercatores horum , qui divites facti sunt , ab ea longe stabunt propter timorem tormentorum ejus , flentes , ac lugentes ,
ወይቀውሙ እምርኁቅ በእንተ ፍርሀተ ሥቃይኪ ወይበክዩኪ ወይላሕዉኪ ።
The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, will stand far away for the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning,
18:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγοντες · οὐαὶ οὐαί , ἡ πόλις ἡ μεγάλη , ἡ περιβεβλημένη βύσσινον καὶ πορφυροῦν καὶ κόκκινον , καὶ κεχρυσωμένη ἐν χρυσῷ καὶ λίθῳ τιμίῳ καὶ μαργαρίτῃ , ὅτι μιᾷ ὥρᾳ ἠρημώθη ὁ τοσοῦτος πλοῦτος .
et dicentes : Vae , vae civitas illa magna , quae amicta erat bysso , et purpura , et cocco , et deaurata erat auro , et lapide pretioso , et margaritis :
ወይብሉ አሌ ላ አሌ ላ ለሀገር ዐባይ እንተ ትለብስ ሜላተ ወአዝመረ ወለየ እንተ ተገብረት በወርቅ ወበዕንቍ ክቡር ወበባሕርይ እስመ በአሐቲ ሰዓት ትማስን ብዕላ ።
saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, she who was dressed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls!
18:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ πᾶς κυβερνήτης καὶ πᾶς ὁ ἐπὶ τόπον πλέων καὶ ναῦται καὶ ὅσοι τὴν θάλασσαν ἐργάζονται ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἔστησαν
quoniam una hora destitutae sunt tantae divitiae , et omnis gubernator , et omnis qui in lacum navigat , et nautae , et qui in mari operantur , longe steterunt ,
ወኵሉ ዘሐዳፍ ወኵሉ ኪነተ አሕማር ወኖትያት ወኵሎሙ እለ ይትቀነዩ በውስተ ባሕር እምርኁቅ ቆሙ ።
For in an hour such great riches are made desolate.’ Every ship master, and everyone who sails anywhere, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood far away,
18:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἔκραζον βλέποντες τὸν καπνὸν τῆς πυρώσεως αὐτῆς λέγοντες , τίς ὁμοία τῇ πόλει τῇ μεγάλῃ ;
et clamaverunt videntes locum incendii ejus , dicentes : Quae similis civitati huic magnae ?
ወጸርሑ ሶበ ርእዩ ውዕየተ ሀገራ ወይቤሉ መኑ ይመስላ ለዛቲ ሀገር ዐባይ ።
and cried out as they looked at the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like the great city?’
18:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἔβαλον χοῦν ἐπὶ τὰς κεφαλὰς αὐτῶν , καὶ ἔκραζον κλαίοντες καὶ πενθοῦντες , λέγοντες · οὐαὶ οὐαί , ἡ πόλις ἡ μεγάλη , ἐν ᾗ ἐπλούτησαν πάντες οἱ ἔχοντες τὰ πλοῖα ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ ἐκ τῆς τιμιότητος αὐτῆς , ὅτι μιᾷ ὥρᾳ ἠρημώθη .
et miserunt pulverem super capita sua , et clamaverunt flentes , et lugentes , dicentes : Vae , vae civitas illa magna , in qua divites facti sunt omnes , qui habebant naves in mari de pretiis ejus : quoniam una hora desolata est .
ወወደዩ መሬተ ውስተ አርእስቲሆሙ ወይጸርሑ ወይበክይዋ ወይላሕውዋ ወይብሉ አሌ ላ አሌ ላ ለሀገር ዐባይ እንተ እምኔሃ ብዕሉ ኵሎሙ እለ ቦሙ አሕማር ውስተ ባሕር እምነ ክብራ እስመ በአሐቲ ሰዓት ማሰነት ።
They cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had their ships in the sea were made rich by reason of her great wealth!’ For she is made desolate in one hour.
18:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ εὐφραίνου ἐπ’ αὐτῇ , οὐρανέ , καὶ οἱ ἅγιοι καὶ οἱ ἀπόστολοι καὶ οἱ προφῆται , ὅτι ἔκρινεν ὁ θεὸς τὸ κρίμα ὑμῶν ἐξ αὐτῆς .
Exsulta super eam caelum , et sancti apostoli , et prophetae : quoniam judicavit Deus judicium vestrum de illa .
ለይትፈሣሕ ላዕሌሃ ሰማይ ወቅዱሳን ነቢያት ወሐዋርያት እስመ ተበቀለ እግዚአብሔር በቀለክሙ ።
“Rejoice over her, O heaven, you saints, apostles, and prophets, for God has judged your judgment on her.”
18:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ ἦρεν εἷς ἄγγελος ἰσχυρὸς λίθον ὡς μύλον μέγαν καὶ ἔβαλεν εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν λέγων , οὕτως ὁρμήματι βληθήσεται Βαβυλὼν ἡ μεγάλη πόλις , καὶ οὐ μὴ εὑρεθῇ ἔτι .
Et sustulit unus angelus fortis lapidem quasi molarem magnum , et misit in mare , dicens : Hoc impetu mittetur Babylon civitas illa magna , et ultra jam non invenietur .
ወነሥአ አሐዱ መልአክ ኀያል ወጽኑዕ እብነ ዐቢየ ከመ እንተ ማሕረጽ ወወገረ ውስተ ባሕር ወይቤ ከመዝ ትትገደፍ ባቢሎን ሀገር ዐባይ ወኢትትረከብ እንከ ።
A mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying, “Thus with violence will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down, and will be found no more at all.
18:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ φωνὴ κιθαρῳδῶν καὶ μουσικῶν καὶ αὐλητῶν καὶ σαλπιστῶν οὐ μὴ ἀκουσθῇ ἐν σοὶ ἔτι , καὶ πᾶς τεχνίτης πάσης τέχνης οὐ μὴ εὑρεθῇ ἐν σοὶ ἔτι , καὶ φωνὴ μύλου οὐ μὴ ἀκουσθῇ ἐν σοὶ ἔτι ,
Et vox citharoedorum , et musicorum , et tibia canentium , et tuba non audietur in te amplius : et omnis artifex omnis artis non invenietur in te amplius : et vox molae non audietur in te amplius :
ወኢይሰማዕ በውስቴታ ቃለ መሰናቁት ወእንዚራ ወማኅሌት ወቃለ ቀርን ኢይሰማዕ በውስቴታ ወኵሉ ኬንያ ወኵሉ ኪን ኢይትረከብ በውስቴታ ወአልቦ በውስቴታ ድምፀ ማሕረጽ ወኢብርሃነ ማኅቶት ወኢቃለ መርዓዊ ወመርዓት ኢይሰማዕ በውስቴታ ።
The voice of harpists, minstrels, flute players, and trumpeters will be heard no more at all in you. No craftsman of whatever craft will be found any more at all in you. The sound of a mill will be heard no more at all in you.
18:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ φῶς λύχνου οὐ μὴ φάνῃ ἐν σοὶ ἔτι , καὶ φωνὴ νυμφίου καὶ νύμφης οὐ μὴ ἀκουσθῇ ἐν σοὶ ἔτι · ὅτι οἱ ἔμποροί σου ἦσαν οἱ μεγιστᾶνες τῆς γῆς , ὅτι ἐν τῇ φαρμακίᾳ σου ἐπλανήθησαν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ,
et lux lucernae non lucebit in te amplius : et vox sponsi et sponsae non audietur adhuc in te : quia mercatores tui erant principes terrae , quia in veneficiis tuis erraverunt omnes gentes .
እስመ ሠየጥኪ መሳፍንተ ምድር እለ አስሐትኪዮሙ በሥራያትኪ ለኵሉ አሕዛበ ምድር ።
The light of a lamp will shine no more at all in you. The voice of the bridegroom and of the bride will be heard no more at all in you, for your merchants were the princes of the earth; for with your sorcery all the nations were deceived.
18:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐν αὐτῇ αἷμα προφητῶν καὶ ἁγίων εὑρέθη καὶ πάντων τῶν ἐσφαγμένων ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς .
Et in ea sanguis prophetarum et sanctorum inventus est : et omnium qui interfecti sunt in terra .
ወተረክበ በላዕሌኪ ደመ ነቢያት ወዘቅዱሳን ወዘኵሎሙ እለ ተቀትሉ በውስተ ምድር በእንተ ስሙ ለክርስቶስ ።
In her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on the earth.”
