13:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Πᾶσα ψυχὴ ἐξουσίαις ὑπερεχούσαις ὑποτασσέσθω . οὐ γὰρ ἔστιν ἐξουσία εἰ μὴ ὑπὸ θεοῦ , αἱ δὲ οὖσαι ὑπὸ θεοῦ τεταγμέναι εἰσίν ·
Omnis anima potestatibus sublimioribus subdita sit : non est enim potestas nisi a Deo : quae autem sunt , a Deo ordinatae sunt .
ለኵሉ ነፍሰ መኰንን ተኰነኑ እስመ ኢይሠየም መኰንን ዘእንበለ እምኀበ እግዚአብሔር ወእምከመሰ እምኀበ እግዚአብሔር ውእቱ ኵሉ ብዉሕ ሎቱ ።
Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God.
13:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὥστε ὁ ἀντιτασσόμενος τῇ ἐξουσίᾳ τῇ τοῦ θεοῦ διαταγῇ ἀνθέστηκεν , οἱ δὲ ἀνθεστηκότες ἑαυτοῖς κρίμα λήμψονται .
Itaque qui resistit potestati , Dei ordinationi resistit . Qui autem resistunt , ipsi sibi damnationem acquirunt :
ወዘሰ አበየ ተኰንኖ ለመኰንን ትእዛዘ እግዚአብሔር አበየ ወእለሰ አበዩ ተኰንኖ ኵነኔ ያመጽኡ ለርእሶሙ ።
Therefore he who resists the authority withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment.
13:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ γὰρ ἄρχοντες οὐκ εἰσὶν φόβος τῷ ἀγαθῷ ἔργῳ ἀλλὰ τῷ κακῷ . θέλεις δὲ μὴ φοβεῖσθαι τὴν ἐξουσίαν ; τὸ ἀγαθὸν ποίει , καὶ ἕξεις ἔπαινον ἐξ αὐτῆς ·
nam principes non sunt timori boni operis , sed mali . Vis autem non timere potestatem ? Bonum fac : et habebis laudem ex illa :
ወመኳንንትሰ ኢኮኑ ግሩማነ ለዘይገብር ሠናየ ዘእንበለ ለዘእኩይ ምግባሩ ወእመሰ ትፈቅድ ኢትፍርሆሙ ለመኳንንት ግበር ሠናየ ወዓዲ እሙንቱ የአኵቱከ ።
For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Do you desire to have no fear of the authority? Do that which is good, and you will have praise from the authority,
13:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ θεοῦ γὰρ διάκονός ἐστιν σοὶ εἰς τὸ ἀγαθόν . ἐὰν δὲ τὸ κακὸν ποιῇς , φοβοῦ · οὐ γὰρ εἰκῇ τὴν μάχαιραν φορεῖ · θεοῦ γὰρ διάκονός ἐστιν , ἔκδικος εἰς ὀργὴν τῷ τὸ κακὸν πράσσοντι .
Dei enim minister est tibi in bonum . Si autem malum feceris , time : non enim sine causa gladium portat . Dei enim minister est : vindex in iram ei qui malum agit .
እስመ ላእካነ እግዚአብሔር እሙንቱ ከመ አንተ ታሠኒ ምግባሪከ ወእመሰ ፈቀድከ ኢትፍራህ ግበር ሠናየ ወአኮ ለከንቱ ዘአኰነንዎሙ መጥባሕተ እስመ ላእካኑ እሙንቱ ከመ ይትበቀልዎ ለገባሬ እኪት ።
for he is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for he doesn’t bear the sword in vain; for he is a servant of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil.
13:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ διὸ ἀνάγκη ὑποτάσσεσθαι , οὐ μόνον διὰ τὴν ὀργὴν ἀλλὰ καὶ διὰ τὴν συνείδησιν .
Ideo necessitate subditi estote non solum propter iram , sed etiam propter conscientiam .
ወይእዜኒ በግብር ተኰነኑ ወአኮ ዳእሙ ለዘእኩይ ምግባሩ ዓዲ ለዘሠናይኒ ምግባሩ ።
Therefore you need to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.
13:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ διὰ τοῦτο γὰρ καὶ φόρους τελεῖτε , λειτουργοὶ γὰρ θεοῦ εἰσιν εἰς αὐτὸ τοῦτο προσκαρτεροῦντες .
Ideo enim et tributa praestatis : ministri enim Dei sunt , in hoc ipsum servientes .
ወበእንተዝ ታገብኡ ሎሙ ጸባሕተ እስመ ላእካነ እግዚአብሔር እሙንቱ ወለዝ ግብር ተሠይሙ ።
For this reason you also pay taxes, for they are servants of God’s service, continually doing this very thing.
13:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπόδοτε πᾶσιν τὰς ὀφειλάς , τῷ τὸν φόρον τὸν φόρον , τῷ τὸ τέλος τὸ τέλος , τῷ τὸν φόβον τὸν φόβον , τῷ τὴν τιμὴν τὴν τιμήν .
Reddite ergo omnibus debita : cui tributum , tributum : cui vectigal , vectigal : cui timorem , timorem : cui honorem , honorem .
ወለኵሉ በዘይረትዕ ግበሩ ወለዘሂ ጸባሕተ ጸብሑ ወለዘሂ ብነተ በንቱ ወለዘሂ ዐሥራተ ዐሥሩ ወለዘሂ ፍርሀተ ፍርሁ ወለዘሂ ክብረ አክብሩ ።
Therefore give everyone what you owe: if you owe taxes, pay taxes; if customs, then customs; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
13:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ Μηδενὶ μηδὲν ὀφείλετε , εἰ μὴ τὸ ἀλλήλους ἀγαπᾶν · ὁ γὰρ ἀγαπῶν τὸν ἕτερον νόμον πεπλήρωκεν .
Nemini quidquam debeatis , nisi ut invicem diligatis : qui enim diligit proximum , legem implevit .
ወአልቦ ዘይበቍዐክሙ ዘእንበለ አፍቅሮ ቢጽክሙ ወዘሰ አፍቀረ ቢጾ ኵሎ ሕገ ፈጸመ ገቢረ ።
Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
13:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ τὸ γὰρ οὐ μοιχεύσεις , οὐ φονεύσεις , οὐ κλέψεις , οὐκ ἐπιθυμήσεις , καὶ εἴ τις ἑτέρα ἐντολή , ἐν τῷ λόγῳ τούτῳ ἀνακεφαλαιοῦται , ἐν τῷ ἀγαπήσεις τὸν πλησίον σου ὡς σεαυτόν .
Nam : Non adulterabis : non occides : non furaberis : non falsum testimonium dices : non concupisces : et si quod est aliud mandatum , in hoc verbo instauratur : diliges proximum tuum sicut teipsum .
እስመ ከመዝ ይቤ በኦሪት «ኢትሑር ብእሲተ ብእሲ ወኢትቅትል ነፍሰ ወኢትስርቅ ወኢትኩን ስምዐ በሐሰት ወኢትፍቱ » ወዓዲ ባዕድኒ ቦቱ ትእዛዝ ወርእሱ ለኵሉ «አፍቅር ቢጸከ ከመ ነፍስከ ።»
For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
13:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡ ἀγάπη τῷ πλησίον κακὸν οὐκ ἐργάζεται · πλήρωμα οὖν νόμου ἡ ἀγάπη .
Dilectio proximi malum non operatur . Plenitudo ergo legis est dilectio .
ዘያፈቅር ቢጾ ኢይገብር እኩየ ተፋቅሮሰ ፍጹም ሕግ ውእቱ ።
Love doesn’t harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.
13:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ τοῦτο εἰδότες τὸν καιρόν , ὅτι ὥρα ἤδη ὑμᾶς ἐξ ὕπνου ἐγερθῆναι , νῦν γὰρ ἐγγύτερον ἡμῶν ἡ σωτηρία ἢ ὅτε ἐπιστεύσαμεν .
Et hoc scientes tempus : quia hora est jam nos de somno surgere . Nunc enim propior est nostra salus , quam cum credidimus .
ወዘኒ ተአምሩ ከመ በጽሐ ጊዜሁ ለነቂህ እምንዋም ወይእዜሰ አልጸቀት ሕይወትነ እንተ ተሰፈውናሃ ።
Do this, knowing the time, that it is already time for you to awaken out of sleep, for salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed.
13:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡ νὺξ προέκοψεν , ἡ δὲ ἡμέρα ἤγγικεν . ἀποθώμεθα οὖν τὰ ἔργα τοῦ σκότους , ἐνδυσώμεθα δὲ τὰ ὅπλα τοῦ φωτός .
Nox praecessit , dies autem appropinquavit . Abjiciamus ergo opera tenebrarum , et induamur arma lucis .
ኀለፈት ሌሊት ወመጽአት መዓልት ወንግድፍ እምላዕሌነ ምግባረ ጽልመት ወንልበስ ወልታ ብርሃን ።
The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let’s therefore throw off the deeds of darkness, and let’s put on the armor of light.
13:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς ἐν ἡμέρᾳ εὐσχημόνως περιπατήσωμεν , μὴ κώμοις καὶ μέθαις , μὴ κοίταις καὶ ἀσελγείαις , μὴ ἔριδι καὶ ζήλῳ ·
Sicut in die honeste ambulemus : non in comessationibus , et ebrietatibus , non in cubilibus , et impudicitiis , non in contentione , et aemulatione :
ከመ ናንሶሱ በምግባረ ጽድቅ ወአኮ በተውኔት ወበማኅሌት ወበስታይ ወበዝሙት ወበምርዓት ወአኮ በተሓምሞ ወበቅንአት ።
Let’s walk properly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and lustful acts, and not in strife and jealousy.
13:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀλλὰ ἐνδύσασθε τὸν κύριον Ἰησοῦν Χριστόν , καὶ τῆς σαρκὸς πρόνοιαν μὴ ποιεῖσθε εἰς ἐπιθυμίας .
sed induimini Dominum Jesum Christum , et carnis curam ne feceritis in desideriis .
ልበስዎ ለእግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ወኢተኀልዩ ፍትወተ ሥጋክሙ ።
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.
