5:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ μὴ ἔπεχε ἐπὶ τοῖς χρήμασίν σου καὶ μὴ εἴπῃς αὐτάρκη μοί ἐστιν
Noli attendere ad possessiones iniquas , et ne dixeris : Est mihi sufficiens vita : nihil enim proderit in tempore vindictæ et obductionis .
ወኢትክዓው ፡ ንዋየከ ፡ በከንቱ ፡ ወኢትበል ፡ ኮንየ ፡ አከለኒ ።
Set not your heart upon your goods; And say not, They are sufficient for me.
5:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ μὴ ἐξακολούθει τῇ ψυχῇ σου καὶ τῇ ἰσχύι σου πορεύεσθαι ἐν ἐπιθυμίαις καρδίας σου
Ne sequaris in fortitudine tua concupiscentiam cordis tui ,
ወኢትትሉ ፡ ግዕዘ ፡ ኀይለ ፡ ነፍስከ ።
Follow not your own mind and your strength, To walk in the desires of your heart;
5:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ μὴ εἴπῃς τίς με δυναστεύσει ὁ γὰρ κύριος ἐκδικῶν ἐκδικήσει
et ne dixeris : Quomodo potui ? aut , Quis me subjiciet propter facta mea ? Deus enim vindicans vindicabit .
ወኢትበል ፡ ኀያል ፡ አነ ፡ ወመኑ ፡ ይክለኒ ፡ እስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በቀለ ፡ ይትቤቀል ።
And say not, Who will have dominion over me? For the Lord will surely take vengeance on you.
5:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ μὴ εἴπῃς ἥμαρτον καὶ τί μοι ἐγένετο ὁ γὰρ κύριός ἐστιν μακρόθυμος
Ne dixeris : Peccavi : et quid mihi accidit triste ? Altissimus enim est patiens redditor .
ወኢትበል ፡ አበስኩሂ ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ዘተፈደይኩ ፡ እስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ይትዔገሥ ፡ ጕንዱየ ።
Say not, I sinned, and what happened to me? For the Lord is longsuffering.
5:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ περὶ ἐξιλασμοῦ μὴ ἄφοβος γίνου προσθεῖναι ἁμαρτίαν ἐφ’ ἁμαρτίαις
De propitiatio peccato noli esse sine metu , neque adjicias peccatum super peccatum .
ወኢትፍራህ ፡ ተጋንዮ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ኀጢአትከ ፡ ወኢትወስክ ፡ ኀጢአተ ፡ በዲበ ፡ ኀጢአትከ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ትብል ፡ ብዙኅ ፡ ምሕረቱ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ።
Concerning atonement, be not without fear, To add sin upon sins:
5:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ μὴ εἴπῃς ὁ οἰκτιρμὸς αὐτοῦ πολύς τὸ πλῆθος τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν μου ἐξιλάσεται ἔλεος γὰρ καὶ ὀργὴ παρ’ αὐτῷ καὶ ἐπὶ ἁμαρτωλοὺς καταπαύσει ὁ θυμὸς αὐτοῦ
Et ne dicas : Miseratio Domini magna est , multitudinis peccatorum meorum miserebitur :
ምሕረትኒ ፡ ወመቅሠፍትኒ ፡ እምኀቤሁ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ኃጥእ ፡ ይወርድ ፡ መቅሠፍቱ ።
And say not, His compassion is great; He will be pacified for the multitude of my sins: For mercy and wrath are with him, And his indignation will rest upon sinners.
5:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ μὴ ἀνάμενε ἐπιστρέψαι πρὸς κύριον καὶ μὴ ὑπερβάλλου ἡμέραν ἐξ ἡμέρας ἐξάπινα γὰρ ἐξελεύσεται ὀργὴ κυρίου καὶ ἐν καιρῷ ἐκδικήσεως ἐξολῇ
misericordia enim et ira ab illo cito proximant , et in peccatores respicit ira illius .
ኢታጐንዲ ፡ ተጋንዮ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወኢታስተኀልፍ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ እምዕለት ፡ እስመ ፡ ግብተ ፡ ትመጽእ ፡ መንሱት ፡ ወትትመነደብ ፡ አመ ፡ ትመጽእ ፡ ፍዳከ ፡ ወመቅሠፍትከ ።
Make no tarrying to turn to the Lord; And put not off from day to day: For suddenly will the wrath of the Lord come forth; And you will perish in the time of vengeance.
5:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ μὴ ἔπεχε ἐπὶ χρήμασιν ἀδίκοις οὐδὲν γὰρ ὠφελήσει σε ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἐπαγωγῆς
Non tardes converti ad Dominum , et ne differas de die in diem :
ኢትሰቈቊ ፡ ለንዋየ ፡ ዓመፃ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኢይክል ፡ አድኅኖተከ ፡ አመ ፡ ምንዳቤከ ።
Set not your heart upon unrighteous gains: For you will profit nothing in the day of calamity.
5:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ μὴ λίκμα ἐν παντὶ ἀνέμῳ καὶ μὴ πορεύου ἐν πάσῃ ἀτραπῷ οὕτως ὁ ἁμαρτωλὸς ὁ δίγλωσσος
subito enim veniet ira illius , et in tempore vindictæ disperdet te .
ወኢታብቁ ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ዘነፍስ ፡ ወኢትትሉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዘፈተውከ ፡ ወኢትኩን ፡ ከመ ፡ ኃጥእ ፡ ዘክልኤ ፡ ልሳኑ ።
Winnow not with every wind, And walk not in every path: Thus does the sinner that has a double tongue.
5:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἴσθι ἐστηριγμένος ἐν συνέσει σου καὶ εἷς ἔστω σου ὁ λόγος
Noli anxius esse in divitiis injustis : non enim proderunt tibi in die obductionis et vindictæ .
አንተሰ ፡ አስምክ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ጥበብከ ፡ ወአሐደ ፡ ይኩን ፡ ቃልከ ።
Be stedfast in your understanding; And let your word be one.
5:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ γίνου ταχὺς ἐν ἀκροάσει σου καὶ ἐν μακροθυμίᾳ φθέγγου ἀπόκρισιν
Non ventiles te in omnem ventum , et non eas in omnem viam : sic enim omnis peccator probatur in duplici lingua .
ወኩን ፡ ፍጡነ ፡ ለሰሚዕ ፡ ወመስተዓግሠ ፡ ለአውሥኦ ፡ ቃል ።
Be swift to hear; And with patience make your answer.
5:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ ἔστιν σοι σύνεσις ἀποκρίθητι τῷ πλησίον εἰ δὲ μή ἡ χείρ σου ἔστω ἐπὶ τῷ στόματί σου
Esto firmus in via Domini , et in veritate sensus tui et scientia : et prosequatur te verbum pacis et justitiæ .
እመ ፡ ብከ ፡ ዘታየድዖ ፡ ንግሮ ፡ ለቢጽከ ፡ ወእመ ፡ አኮሰ ፡ ደይ ፡ እዴከ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ አፉከ ።
If you have understanding, answer your neighbor; And if not, let your hand be upon your mouth.
5:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ δόξα καὶ ἀτιμία ἐν λαλιᾷ καὶ γλῶσσα ἀνθρώπου πτῶσις αὐτῷ
Esto mansuetus ad audiendum verbum , ut intelligas , et cum sapientia proferas responsum verum .
ኀሣርከኒ ፡ ወክብርከኒ ፡ እምቃልከኒ ፡ ወእምልሳኑ ፡ ለሰብእ ፡ ድቀቱ ።
Glory and dishonor is in talk: And the tongue of a man is his fall.
5:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ μὴ κληθῇς ψίθυρος καὶ τῇ γλώσσῃ σου μὴ ἐνέδρευε ἐπὶ γὰρ τῷ κλέπτῃ ἐστὶν αἰσχύνη καὶ κατάγνωσις πονηρὰ ἐπὶ διγλώσσου
Si est tibi intellectus , responde proximo : sin autem , sit manus tua super os tuum , ne capiaris in verbo indisciplinato , et confundaris .
ኢትኩን ፡ ሐማዬ ፡ ወኢትዘለፍ ፡ በልሳንከ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኅዳጥ ፡ ኀፍረቱ ፡ ለሰራቂ ፡ ወእኪት ፡ ኀሣሩ ፡ ለዘክልኤ ፡ ልሳኑ ።
Be not called a whisperer; And lie not in wait with your tongue: For upon the thief there is shame, And an evil condemnation upon him that has a double tongue.
5:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐν μεγάλῳ καὶ ἐν μικρῷ μὴ ἀγνόει καὶ ἀντὶ φίλου μὴ γίνου ἐχθρός ὄνομα γὰρ πονηρὸν αἰσχύνην καὶ ὄνειδος κληρονομήσει οὕτως ὁ ἁμαρτωλὸς ὁ δίγλωσσος
Honor et gloria in sermone sensati : lingua vero imprudentis subversio est ipsius .
በኀበ ፡ ዐቢይኒ ፡ ወበኀበ ፡ ንዑስኒ ፡ አስተርኢ ፡ ኄረ ።
In a great matter and in a small, be not ignorant;
