Σὺ οὖν ὁ καθ ήμενος ἐπὶ τῶν χερουβὶμ , καὶ προπορευόμενος τῆς κιβωτοῦ , ὡς εἶναι ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ Ἐφραῒμ , Βενια μὶν καὶ Μανασσῆ (τὸ γὰρ ἐναντίον σημαίνει τὸ ἔμπροσθεν ), διὰ τῆς σαυτοῦ δυναστείας τὴν σωτηρίαν ἐπιδίδου
You, then, who sit upon the cherubim, and go before the ark, so as to be in front of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh (for 'opposite' signifies 'in front'), grant salvation by your own power.
你這位坐在基路伯上、行在約櫃前頭的,以致在以法蓮、便雅憫、瑪拿西之前(因為「對面」就是指「前頭」),求你憑自己的大能施行拯救。

Ἄμπελον ἐξ Αἰγύπτου μετῆρας
You brought a vine out of Egypt.

Ἐξέβαλες ἔθνη , καὶ κατεφύτευσας αὐτήν
You cast out the nations, and planted it.
你趕出列邦,栽種了這樹。

Προπορευόμενος γὰρ , ἐξέβαλες ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν τὰ ἔθνη
For going before them, you cast out the nations from before their face.
因為你行在他們前頭,把列邦從他們面前趕出去。

Ἐκάλυψεν ὄρη ἡ σκιὰ αὐτῆς
Its shadow covered the mountains.
它的蔭影遮蓋了群山。

Σκιὰ μὲν τῆς ἀμ πέλου ἡ κατὰ νόμον λατρεία , διὰ τὸ σκιὰν ἔχειν τὸν νόμον τῶν μελλόντων ἀγαθῶν·
The shadow of the vine is the worship according to the Law, because the Law has the shadow of the good things to come;
葡萄樹的蔭影就是照著律法的敬拜,因為律法帶有將來美事的影兒;

ὄρη δὲ τό τε ἐν Σηλὼμ καὶ τὸ ἐν Σιών φησιν
and by 'mountains' he means both the one in Shiloh and the one in Zion.
而「群山」是指示羅的那座和錫安的那座。

Ἐν τούτοις γὰρ τοῖς δυσὶ τό ποις ἵδρυτο ἡ σκηνή
For in these two places the tabernacle was established.

Οὐδὲν οὖν ἕτερον σημαίνει , ἢ ὅτι τὰ ἐν νόμῳ , ἅτινα ἦν σκιὰ τῶν μελλόντων ἀγα θῶν , ἐν τοῖς δυσὶ τούτοις ἐτελεῖτο ὄρεσι
It signifies nothing other than that the things pertaining to the Law, which were a shadow of the good things to come, were accomplished on these two mountains.
這無非是說,律法中的事——那些原是將來美事之影兒的——是在這兩座山上得以完成的。

Καὶ ἀνα δενδράδες αὐτῆς τὰς κέδρους τοῦ Θεοῦ
And its tendrils covered the cedars of God.
它的枝條遮蓋了神的香柏樹。

Κέδροι μὲν αἱ οὐράνιαι δυνάμεις·
The cedars are the heavenly powers;
香柏樹就是眾天上的權能;

ἀναδενδράδες δὲ τῆς ἀμ πέλου οἱ ἐκ τοῦ λαοῦ προφῆται εἰς ὕψος ἠρμένοι , καὶ ἐπαναπαυόμενοι ταῖς ἄνω καὶ λογικαῖς δυνάμεσιν
and the tendrils of the vine are the prophets, raised up from among the people to a height, and resting upon the powers above that are rational.
而葡萄樹的枝條,就是從百姓中被高舉、依靠在上頭那些理性的權能之上的眾先知。

Ἐξέτεινε τὰ κλήματα αὐτῆς ἕως θαλάσσης
It stretched out its branches as far as the sea.
它伸展枝子直到海邊。

Κλήματα καὶ παραφυάδες τῆς ἀμπέλου τὸ πᾶν πλῆ θος τοῦ λαοῦ φησιν , ὃ κατέσχεν ἀπὸ ποταμοῦ Εὐ φράτου μέχρι θαλάσσης τῆς Ἰνδικῆς
By 'branches' and 'shoots' of the vine, he means the whole multitude of the people, which extended from the river Euphrates as far as the Indian Sea.
葡萄樹的「枝子」和「嫩枝」,是指百姓的全部群眾,他們的疆域從幼發拉底河一直延伸到印度海。

Ἵνα τί καθεῖλες τὸν φραγμὸν αὐτῆς; Φραγμὸς ἦν αὐτῇ ἡ τῶν ἀγγέλων φυλακὴ , ἣν ἀπέστησεν ἀπ' αὐτῶν ὁ Θεός
Why have you broken down its hedge? Its hedge was the guard of the angels, which God removed from them.
你為何拆毀了它的籬笆?它的籬笆就是眾天使的守護,神將這守護從他們身上撤去了。

Καὶ τρυγῶσιν αὐτὴν πάντες οἱ παραπορευόμενοι τὴν ὁδόν
And all who pass along the way pluck its grapes.

O God of hosts, turn again.
萬軍之神啊,求你轉回。

For it was this very providence of yours that gave the former prosperity.

Καὶ κατάρτισαι αὐτὴν ἣν ἐφύτευσεν ἡ δεξιά σου
And perfect that which your right hand has planted.
求你成全你右手所栽種的。

Ἐπειδὴ σὺ αὐτὴν , φησὶ , κατεφύτευσας , εἶτα γέγονεν ἐμπεπυρισμένη καὶ κατεσκαμμένη καὶ ἀπόλωλε , σοῦ αὐτὴν ἐπιτιμήσαντος , κατάρτισαι αὐ τὴν καὶ ἑτοίμην εἰς σωτηρίαν παρασκεύασον·
Since you, he says, planted it, and then it was burned with fire and dug down and perished when you rebuked it, perfect it now and make it ready for salvation;
他說,既然是你栽種了這樹,後來它在你責備之下被火焚燒、被挖倒、以致滅亡,如今求你成全它,使它預備好得蒙拯救;

παρα σκεύασον δὲ διὰ τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου
and prepare it through the Son of Man.
並藉著人子來預備它。

Τὸ γὰρ , ἐπὶ υἱὸν ἀνθρώπου , διὰ τοῦ υἱοῦ ἀνθρώπου σημαίνει
For 'upon the son of man' signifies 'through the son of man'.
因為經文所說的「在人子身上」,意即「藉著人子」。

Τίς δέ ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἢ αὐτὸς ὁ Κύριος ἡμῶν , ὡς αὐτὸς περὶ ἑαυτοῦ ἐν τοῖς Εὐαγγελίοις φησί; Γενηθήτω ἡ χείρ σου ἐπ' ἄνδρα δεξιᾶς σου
But who is the son of man, if not our Lord himself, as he himself says concerning himself in the Gospels? 'Let your hand be upon the man of your right hand.'
這人子是誰呢?豈不就是我們的主自己嗎?正如他自己在福音書中論到自己所說的:「願你的手扶持你右邊的那人。」

Αὕτη , φησὶν , ἡ πρᾶξις ἡ τῆς σωτηρίας τοῦ λαοῦ , ἥτις καὶ διὰ τῆς χειρὸς σημαίνεται , ἐπ' ἄνδρα δε ξιᾶς σου γενηθήτω , τουτέστι διὰ τοῦ ἀνδρὸς τοῦ ὄντος δεξιᾶς σου
This, he says, is the work of the people's salvation, which is also signified through the hand: let it come to be upon the man of your right hand, that is, through the man who is at your right hand.
他說,這就是拯救百姓的工作,也是藉著「手」所表明的:願這事臨到你右邊的那人身上,也就是藉著那位在你右邊的人。

Καὶ τίς οὗτος ἢ ὁ Υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώ που , ὅς ἐστι δεξιὰ τοῦ Πατρὸς , εἰ καὶ γέγονεν ἄν θρωπος; Ἐπειδὰν δὲ τοῦτο γένηται , καὶ σώσῃ ἡμᾶς , φησὶν , ἡ δεξιά σου , ὁ χρηματίσας ἀνὴρ καὶ Υἱὸς ἀν θρώπου , οὐκ ἄν ποτε ἀποστῶμεν ἀπὸ σοῦ , ἅτε τῆς σῆς ζωῆς μεταλαβόντες , καὶ τῷ σῷ ἐπικληθέντες ὀνόματι , τουτέστι Χριστιανοί
And who is this but the Son of Man, who is the right hand of the Father, even though he has become man? And when this comes to pass, and your right hand — he who has been named 'man' and 'Son of man' — saves us, he says, we shall never depart from you, seeing that we have partaken of your life, and have been called by your name, that is, Christians.
這人又是誰呢?豈不就是人子,就是父的右手,儘管他已成為人?他說,及至此事成就,你的右手——那被稱為「人」與「人子」的——拯救了我們,我們就必永不離開你,因為我們已經分享了你的生命,並被稱以你的名,就是「基督徒」。

Lord God of hosts, turn us again.

Συνεχῶς τὴν ἱκεσίαν προβάλλεται , ἐπισπεύδων τὴν ἐπιφάνειαν γενέσθαι τοῦ Μονογενοῦς , δι' οὗ καὶ σωθήσονται
He continually puts forward this supplication, hastening that the appearing of the Only-begotten should come to pass, through whom also they will be saved.
他不斷地提出這祈求,急切盼望獨生子的顯現得以實現,因為他們也要藉著這顯現得救。

Ἔστιν οὖν καὶ ἐκ τούτου τοῦ ψαλμοῦ ἰδεῖν , ὡς καλεῖ τὰ ἔθνη πρὸς τὴν πί στιν τὴν εἰς τὸν Κύριον·
From this psalm too, then, one can see how he calls the nations to faith in the Lord;

giving them instruction never to depart from him, speaking of the rejection of the former people on account of their wickedness.

Rejoice in God our helper; shout aloud to the God of Jacob.
你們要向幫助我們的神歡呼,向雅各的神大聲歡呼。

Ἀλαλαγμός ἐστιν ἐπινίκιος ὕμνος
A shout of acclamation is a hymn of victory.
歡呼聲就是得勝的頌歌。

Παρακελεύεται οὖν τοῖς ἔθνεσι τῷ βοηθήσαντι Θεῷ , καὶ ἐκ τῆς τῶν δαιμόνων αὐτοὺς ῥυσαμένῳ καταδυναστείας , τὰς ἐπινικίους ᾄδειν ᾠδάς
He exhorts the nations, then, to sing songs of victory to the God who helped them, and who delivered them from the tyranny of demons.
於是他勸勉列邦,向那幫助他們、又救他們脫離鬼魔轄制的神,歌唱得勝的詩歌。

Λάβετε ψαλμὸν , καὶ δότε τύμπανον
Take a psalm, and give forth the timbrel.

By 'psalm' in this passage he means the divine teaching.

Having become obedient to the divine oracles, present your bodies a living sacrifice, acceptable to God.
既已聽從神聖的話語,就當獻上你們的身體,作為活祭,是神所悅納的。

Ψαλτήριον τερπνὸν μετὰ κιθάρας
A pleasant psaltery with the harp.
悅耳的琴瑟與豎琴。

Ψαλτήριον πάλιν τὸ σῶμά φησι , διὰ τὴν γινομένην συμφωνίαν καὶ συναρμονίαν πρὸς αὐτὸ τῆς ψυχῆς·
Again by 'psaltery' he means the body, on account of the harmony and concord that the soul comes to have with it;
這裡的「琴瑟」再次是指身體,因為靈魂與身體會產生和諧與協調;

ἵν' ἄρτιοι γένωνται οἱ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἄνθρωποι , καὶ τὰς ψυχὰς ἀνατιθέντες τῷ Θεῷ , καὶ τὸ σῶμα , οὐ τῷ κό σμῳ , ἀλλὰ Κυρίῳ
so that the people of God may become complete, dedicating both their souls and their body to God, not to the world, but to the Lord.

Blow the trumpet at the new moon.

Ὥσπερ πάλαι . ποτὲ ὁ Ἰσραὴλ αἰσθητὰς λαμβάνων σάλπιγγας ἐν τῇ νεομηνίᾳ ἐσάλπιζε , τοῦτο πρόσταγμα δεδωκότος τοῦ Θεοῦ , καὶ μαρτύριον τοῦ ἐλευθερωθῆναι αὐτοὺς τῆς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου δουλείας·
Just as of old Israel, taking sensible trumpets, sounded them at the new moon — this being a commandment given by God, and a testimony of their having been freed from the slavery of Egypt —
正如從前以色列人拿著實體的號角,在月朔時吹響,這是神所賜的命令,也是他們得以脫離埃及為奴之地的見證;

οὕτω καὶ ὁ νέος λαὸς , τῇ εὐαγγελικῇ χρώμενος σάλπιγγι , ἧς ὁ φθόγγος εἰς πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν ἐξῆλθεν , κελεύεται ἐν ταῖς νεομηνίαις σαλπί ζειν , τουτέστιν ἐν τῇ ἀνακαινίσει τοῦ νοὸς αὐτοῦ·
so also the new people, using the evangelical trumpet, whose sound has gone out into all the earth, is commanded to sound it at the new moons, that is, in the renewal of its mind;
照樣,新的百姓也使用那福音的號角——其聲音已傳遍全地——奉命在月朔時吹響,也就是在其心意的更新之中;

ὁμολογῶν καὶ αὐτὸς καὶ μαρτυρῶν , ὅτι δὴ αὐτὸν ἐκ τῆς νοητῆς ἠλευθέρωσεν Αἰγύπτου , τουτέστιν ἐκ τῆς ἐξουσίας τοῦ σκότους
himself confessing and bearing witness that he indeed freed him from the intelligible Egypt, that is, from the dominion of darkness.
親自承認並見證:他確實使他脫離了那屬靈意義上的埃及,也就是脫離了黑暗的權勢。

Γλῶσσαν ἣν οὐκ ἔγνω ἤκουσεν
He heard a tongue which he did not know.
他聽見了一種他所不認識的語言。

Ὁ λαὸς , φησὶν , ἐξελθὼν ἐκ τῆς Αἰγύπτου , ἤκουσε γλῶσσαν ἣν πάλαι οὐκ ἔγνω
The people, he says, going out from Egypt, heard a tongue which they had not known before.
他說,百姓從埃及出來時,聽見了他們先前所不認識的語言。

Καὶ ποία αὕτη ἢ ἡ τοῦ Θεοῦ πρὸς τὸν λαὸν γινομένη ἐν τῷ ὄρει φωνή; Ἀπέστησεν ἀπὸ ἄρσεων τὸν νῶτον αὐτοῦ
And what is this but the voice of God that came to the people on the mountain? 'He removed his shoulder from the burdens.'
這豈不就是神在山上向百姓發出的聲音嗎?「他使他的肩頭脫離重擔。」
1:4464⧉ ⤴︎
Λέγει δὲ , ὅτι τῶν βασταγμάτων αὐ τοὺς ἠλευθέρωσεν , ὧν ἐπεφέροντο οἰκοδομοῦντες τὰς πόλεις τῷ Φαραώ
He means that he freed them from the burdens which they used to carry while building the cities for Pharaoh.
他的意思是,他使他們脫離了先前為法老建城時所背負的重擔。

Αἱ χεῖρες αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ κοφίνῳ ἐδούλευσαν
His hands were enslaved to the basket.
他的雙手曾服役於筐子。

Τοῦτό φησι διότι τὸν πηλὸν καὶ τὰ ἄχυρα ἐν κοφίνοις ἐπὶ τὸ ἔργον ἐπεφέροντο
He says this because they used to carry the clay and the straw in baskets to the work.
他這樣說,是因為他們過去用筐子把泥土和禾稈搬到工地去。

Ἐν θλίψει ἐπεκαλέσω με , καὶ ἐῤῥυσάμην σε
In affliction you called upon me, and I delivered you.
你在患難中呼求我,我就搭救了你。

Ὅμοιον τῷ , Ὅτι ἤκουσα τῶν στεναγμῶν αὐτῶν , καὶ τῆς φωνῆς αὐτῶν ἤκουσα , καὶ κατέβην τοῦ ἐξελέσθαι αὐτούς
Similar to: 'For I have heard their groaning, and I have heard their cry, and I have come down to deliver them.'
與此相似的是:「因為我已聽見他們的呻吟,也聽見了他們的呼聲,我就下來要搭救他們。」

Ἐπήκουσά σου ἐν ἀποκρύφῳ τῆς καταιγίδος
I answered you in the secret place of the storm.
我在暴風的隱密處應允了你。

Ἀντὶ τοῦ , Ἐκ μεγάλης καὶ ὑπερβαλλούσης ἐῤῥυσάμην σε θλίψεως
Instead of saying: 'I delivered you out of great and exceeding affliction.'
這是說:「我救你脫離了極大而超乎尋常的患難。」

Ἐδοκίμασά σε ἐπὶ ὕδατος ἀντιλογίας
I tested you at the water of contention.
我在爭鬧的水邊試驗了你。

Ὅτε διψήσας ὁ λαὸς ἔλεγε πρὸς Μωσῆν·
When the people, being thirsty, said to Moses:
那時百姓因乾渴而對摩西說:

Τί λοιδορεῖσθέ με καὶ πειράζετε τὸν Κύριον; Ἄκουσον , λαός μου
'Why do you revile me and tempt the Lord?' Hear, my people.
「你們為何斥責我、試探耶和華呢?」我的百姓啊,你當聽。

Τῷ λαῷ παραίνεσιν εἰσφέ ρει λέγων παρεσκευάσθαι ἐπήκοον γενέσθαι αὐτῷ
He introduces an exhortation to the people, saying that he has made himself ready to be attentive to them.
他向百姓提出勸勉,說他已預備好要垂聽他們。

Καὶ γὰρ , εἰ τοῦτο ποιήσει , οὐκ ἂν ἑτέρῳ δουλεύῃ Θεῷ , οὐδὲ γενήσεται αὐτῷ αὐτὸς ὁ Κύριος εἰς Θεὸν πρόσφατον
For indeed, if he does this, he would not be enslaved to another god, nor would the Lord himself become to him a strange god.
因為若他這樣做,就不會服事別的神,主自己也不會於他成為陌生的神。

Αὐτὸς γάρ ἐστιν ὁ καὶ πάλαι αὐτοὺς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου λυτρωσάμενος
For he himself is the one who long ago redeemed them out of Egypt.
因為他自己正是從前將他們從埃及救贖出來的那一位。

Πλάτυνον τὸ στόμα σου , καὶ πληρώσω αὐτό
Open wide your mouth, and I will fill it.
張大你的口,我就使它充滿。

Ὑπισχνεῖται τοῖς πειθαρχοῦσιν αὐτῷ καὶ σαρκικὰς τροφὰς καὶ πνευματικάς
He promises to those who obey him both fleshly and spiritual nourishment.

'And he satisfied them with honey out of the rock.'

He says that the one inscribed as having You for his helper builds up good thoughts for himself day by day, which he here calls 'ascents,' because in them there is, as it were, an ascent from earthly things to heavenly things.

What could the blessings be, but to go from strength to strength? He speaks of going from the manner of life here according to God, to the Jerusalem above, where, having departed thither, they will see God as He is.
那些祝福還能是什麼呢,豈不就是從力上加力而行嗎?他所說的,是指從此地按神而行的生活方式,直到那在上的耶路撒冷;到了那裡,他們去世以後,必要看見神本來的面貌。

By 'one day' of the courts of God, that is, of the churches, he signifies the resurrection day of the Savior.

By 'thousands,' or rather 'a thousand' — for so it is found in the Hebrew Scripture — he means the worship according to the Law, which lasted for a thousand years, beginning from the time of Solomon, from when the divine temple was founded, until the coming of the Savior.

For mercy springs up from the divine shrines, and from there flows an abundant, unstinting supply of truth.

Indeed, from this we also become distinguished and greatly renowned, and, to put it briefly, we receive the enjoyment of every good thing, being freed from vice and wickedness, and choosing to live together in simplicity and truth.

Furthermore, he introduces the Jewish people, after the calling of the Gentiles, confessing the sins they have committed, and asking that they too may obtain the mercy that comes through Christ.

For having preached first to the Jews themselves, he redeemed many from the spiritual captivity that had overtaken them.

The Savior declared this, following the prophecy of Isaiah, which said:

Αὐτὸς γὰρ ὁ παύσας δουλεύον τας ἡμᾶς πολυθέῳ πλάνῃ καὶ δαίμοσι , τάς τε τῶν ἁμαρτημάτων λύσας σειράς
For he it is who put an end to our servitude to polytheistic error and demons, and who loosed the chains of our sins.
因為正是他使我們止息了對眾神迷妄與鬼魔的服事,也解開了罪惡的鎖鍊。

Ἀμφότερα ἐνταῦθα προφητεύεται ἥ τε ἀπὸ Βαβυλῶνος τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ ἐπάνοδος καὶ τῆς οἰκουμένης σωτηρία·
Both things are prophesied here: the return of the sons of Israel from Babylon, and the salvation of the whole world.

When Cyrus, king of the Persians, according to the prophecy of Isaiah, had granted authority for the return, they hastened to reach their native land.

Thus the prophet, having offered the supplication as if from them, receives the answer of God, and says:

'Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him'

As the prophet awaited the answer — that which he would hear from God concerning his own race — he came to know this: that he was ready to draw near to all, if only they would embrace the fear of him;

Having shown mercy to us, he taught us the truth;

'Mercy and truth have met together'

Clearly he proclaims the truth that rose upon the world through the Theotokos and Ever-Virgin.

Having at once turned his prayer into thanksgiving for the fact that he was delivered from Hades, he then confesses the cause on account of which he had sinned, speaking of a plot of many and mighty ones, hinting at the invisible powers who did not set God before their eyes.

For my soul is filled with troubles.

Even though he himself bore our sins and suffers pain on our behalf, he fittingly says that he has been filled with evils.

'And my life drew near to Hades.'

Jesus alone also died, being led to death for the transgressions of the people, according to the word of Isaiah:

I have become, he says, like men who have been wounded and lie in tombs, who, not having obtained your help, have not obtained resurrection.

By 'the wrath of God' he means the curse of death that was brought upon the human race.

Ἐπειδὴ τοίνυν γέγονεν ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν κατάρα , τούτου χάριν τὸν θυμὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐπ' αὐτὸν ἐπεστηρίχθαι φησί
Since, then, he became a curse for us, for this reason he says that the wrath of God rested firmly upon him.
既然他為我們成了咒詛,所以他說神的烈怒重壓在他身上。

Καὶ πάντας τοὺς μετεωρισμούς σου ἐπήγαγες ἐπ' ἐμέ
'And you have brought all your surging waves upon me.'

By 'surging waves' he means the penalty violently brought upon the human race on account of the transgression.
『波濤』是指因人類的過犯而猛烈加於人類的懲罰。

Again this signifies death.

'My eyes failed from poverty.'

I wept, he says, for the people, seeing that they were about to fall from the wealth that is according to God and be brought down into utter poverty.

For being compelled by need, one entreats more earnestly him who is able to give.
因為人被需要所迫時,會更加懇切地祈求那能施予的人。

Μὴ τοῖς νεκροῖς ποιήσεις θαυμάσια; Ἰατροὶ ἀναστήσουσι; Τὰς αἰτίας ἡμᾶς διδάσκει τῆς εἰς τὸν θάνατον αὐτοῦ καθόδου , μονονουχὶ λέγων·
'Will you work wonders for the dead? Will physicians raise them up?' He teaches us the reasons for his descent into death, saying, as it were:
『你豈要為死人施行奇事嗎?醫生豈能使他們起來嗎?』他藉此教導我們他降到死地的原因,彷彿在說:

Ἐπειδὴ οὔτε νεκροῖς δυνατὸν , φησὶ , ποιήσασθαι θαυμάσια , οὔτε ἰατροῖς ἀναστῆσαι , ἵνα ἐξομολογήσωνταί σοι , οὔτε μὴν οἱ ἐν τῇ ἀπωλείᾳ δυνατοὶ ἦσαν γνῶναί σου τὴν ἀλήθειαν·
Since, he says, it is not possible for wonders to be worked for the dead, nor for physicians to raise them up so that they might confess you, nor indeed were those in destruction able to know your truth;
他說:既然不可能為死人施行奇事,醫生也不能使人復活,好叫他們向你稱謝,那些在滅亡中的人也不能認識你的真理;

τούτου χάριν , ὦ Πάτερ , καὶ τοῖς ἐν ᾅδου καταλελόγισμαι·
for this reason, O Father, I have been numbered also among those in Hades;

so that those in the forgotten land, having risen, might have experience of your wonders, and those who were long ago in darkness might declare your truth.

Μὴ διηγήσεταί τις ἐν τῷ τάφῳ τὸ ἔλεός σου; Μὴ δυνατὸν , φησὶ , τοὺς εἰς κόνιν διαλυθέντας νεκροὺς καὶ ἐν τῷ ζόφῳ τοῦ θανάτου διάγοντας , καὶ λήθῃ παραδεδομένους , τῆς σῆς ἔσεσθαι φιλανθρωπίας , καὶ τῶν σῶν θαυμάτων θεατὰς καταστῆσαι; Μὴ γνωσθήσεται ἐν τῷ σκότει τὰ θαυμάσιά σου; Ὥσπερ ἐν τοῖς ἀπολωλόσιν οὐκ ἔστιν ἀλήθεια , οὕτως ἐν τοῖς ἐσκοτισμένοις οὐκ ἔστι θαυμάσια
'Will anyone declare your mercy in the tomb?' Is it possible, he says, for the dead who have been dissolved into dust and who dwell in the gloom of death, and who have been given over to oblivion, to partake of your loving-kindness and become spectators of your wonders? Will your wonders be known in the darkness? Just as there is no truth among those who have perished, so there are no wonders among those who are in darkness.
『豈有人在墳墓裡述說你的慈愛嗎?』他說:那些已化為塵土、居於死亡幽暗之中、被交付遺忘的死人,豈能享受你的仁愛,成為你奇事的見證人呢?你的奇事豈能在黑暗中被人知曉呢?正如在滅亡的人中沒有真理,照樣在昏暗的人中也沒有奇事。

Γῆ ἐπιλελησμένη ἐστὶ ψυχὴ λογικὴ τῶν τοῦ ἁγίου Πνεύ ματος ἐστερημένη καρπῶν
The 'forgotten land' is the rational soul that has been deprived of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
『被遺忘之地』是指被剝奪了聖靈果子的理性靈魂。

'Why, O Lord, do you cast off my soul, and turn your face away from me?' He was praying on behalf of the people, but they, through the excess of their wickedness, showed themselves unworthy of salvation;
『主啊,你為何丟棄我的性命,轉臉不顧我呢?』他原是為百姓禱告,然而他們卻因惡貫滿盈而顯明自己不配得救;

οἱονεὶ ἄπρακτον αὐτοῦ τὴν ὑπὲρ αὐτῶν καθιστῶντες εὐχήν
as if rendering his prayer on their behalf ineffective.

Πτωχός εἰμι ἐγὼ καὶ ἐν κόποις ἐκ νεότητός μου
'I am poor and in troubles from my youth.'

Πτωχὸς μὲν διὰ τὸ δούλου λαβεῖν μορφήν·
Poor, indeed, because he took the form of a servant;
說『貧窮』,是因為他取了奴僕的形像;

ἐν κόποις δὲ ἐκ νεότητος , διότι ἐκ σπαργάνων αὐτῶν ἐπεβουλεύετο παρά τε Ἡρώδου καὶ τῶν ὁμοίων αὐτῷ
and 'in troubles from his youth,' because from his very swaddling clothes he was plotted against by Herod and those like him.
說『自幼受苦』,是因為他從襁褓之中就已被希律及其同黨所謀害。

Ὑψωθεὶς δὲ ἐταπεινώθην καὶ ἐξηπορήθην
'But having been exalted, I was humbled and brought to utter helplessness.'

By 'exaltation' he means the ascent upon the cross, according to what was said by him:
『高舉』是指被舉上十字架,正如他自己所說的:

Τὸ δὲ , ἐταπεινώθην , διὰ τὴν μέχρις ᾅδου κάθοδον λέγει
But 'I was humbled' he says on account of his descent even unto Hades.

'Your wraths have passed over me.'
