Incipit breuiarius, quomodo Hierusolima constructa est. Ipsa ciuitas in monte posita. In medio ciuitatis est basilica Constantini. In introitu basilicae ipsius ad sinistram partem est cubiculus, ubi crux Domini posita est. Et inde intras in ecclesiam sancti Constantini. Magna ab occidente est absida, ubi inuentae sunt tres cruces. Est ibi desuper altare de argento et auro puro et nouem columnae, quae sustinent illud altare et ipsa absida. In circuitu duodecim columnae marmoreae [omnino incredibile], super ipsas columnas hydriae argenteae duodecim, ubi sigillauit Salomon daemones.

Here begins the short account of how Jerusalem was built. The city itself is set upon a mountain. In the midst of the city is the basilica of Constantine. At the entrance of that basilica, on the left-hand side, is a chamber where the Cross of the Lord is placed. And thence you enter into the church of Saint Constantine. To the west is a great apse, where the three crosses were found. There above is an altar of silver and pure gold, and nine columns that support that altar and the apse itself. Round about are twelve marble columns [altogether incredible]; upon those columns are twelve silver urns, with which Solomon sealed the demons.

And in the midst of the city is that basilica where the lance is, with which the Lord was pierced, and from it a cross was made, and it shines by night like the sun in the strength of day. And thence you enter into Golgotha. There is a great court there, where the Lord was crucified. Round about, on that very mountain, are silver railings, and on that mountain a kind of flint stone is venerated. It has silver doors, where the Cross of the Lord was set forth, adorned all over with gold and gems, with the sky open above. The railings are richly adorned with gold and silver. There is that dish on which the head of Saint John was carried; there is that horn with which David was anointed, and Solomon; and there too is that ring with which Solomon sealed the demons, and it is of electrum.

Et ibi sunt duos basilicas, ubi docebat Christus discipulos suos. Et inde uenis ad Galilaeam, ubi discipuli uiderunt dominum Iesum, postquam resurrexit a mortuis.
