Wherefore I exhort, and at the same time commonly urge, all who know themselves entangled in the errors of Sabellius, Arius, and Photinus, or of any other false dogma: if they take counsel for their own salvation, if they do not prefer blindness to light, if they are unwilling to have it harm them that they have so long strayed from the light of truth through the palpable darkness of empty opinions, if they desire it to profit them that they are called Christians—
let them, all shame of modesty set aside, forsaking the harmful inventions of human error by which they deceived themselves that they had found the truth, and by which, under the pretext of the Christian name, they were held far banished from the confession of Christ—let them strive with all their strength and with all the efforts of faith to hasten the more swiftly to hold fast to the true and right path of the apostolic faith, of which Athanasius proved a fit and faithful asserter, that they may by an undoubted lot seize the reward of the true and entire confession.
