1:1
ΑΝΤΙΓΡΑΦΟΝ ἐπιστολῆς, ἧς ἀπέστειλεν ῾Ιερεμίας πρὸς τοὺς ἀχθησομένους αἰχμαλώτους εἰς Βαβυλῶνα ὑπὸ τοῦ βασιλέως τῶν Βαβυλωνίων ἀναγγεῖλαι αὐτοῖς καθότι ἐπετάγη αὐτῷ ὑπὸ τοῦ Θεοῦ.
這是耶利米所寫信函的抄本，是他打發人送給那些將被巴比倫王擄到巴比倫去之人的，要照神所吩咐他的，向他們宣告。
A copy of an epistle, which Jeremy sent unto them which were to be led captives into Babylon by the king of the Babylonians, to certify them, as it was commanded him of God.
1:2
Διὰ τὰς ἁμαρτίας, ἃς ἡμαρτήκατε ἐναντίον τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἀχθήσεσθε εἰς Βαβυλῶνα αἰχμάλωτοι ὑπὸ Ναβουχοδονόσορ βασιλέως τῶν Βαβυλωνίων
因你們在神面前所犯的罪，你們必被巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒擄到巴比倫去。
Because of the sins which ye have committed before God, ye shall be led away captives into Babylon by Nabuchodonosor king of the Babylonians.
1:3
εἰσελθόντες οὖν εἰς Βαβυλῶνα ἔσεσθε ἐκεῖ ἔτη πλείονα καὶ χρόνον μακρὸν ἕως γενεῶν ἑπτά· μετὰ τοῦτο δὲ ἐξάξω ὑμᾶς ἐκεῖθεν μετ’ εἰρήνης.
你們進了巴比倫，必在那裡留住多年，經歷長久的時間，直到七代；此後我必使你們平平安安地從那裡出來。
So when ye be come unto Babylon, ye shall remain there many years, and for a long season, namely, seven generations: and after that I will bring you away peaceably from thence.
1:4
νυνὶ δὲ ὄψεσθε ἐν Βαβυλῶνι θεοὺς ἀργυροῦς καὶ χρυσοῦς καὶ ξυλίνους ἐπ’ ὤμοις αἰρομένους, δεικνύντας φόβον τοῖς ἔθνεσιν.
如今你們在巴比倫必看見銀的、金的和木的神像被人扛在肩上，使列國心生畏懼。
Now shall ye see in Babylon gods of silver, and of gold, and of wood, borne upon shoulders, which cause the nations to fear.
1:5
εὐλαβήθητε οὖν μὴ καὶ ὑμεῖς ἀφομοιωθέντες τοῖς ἀλλοφύλοις ἀφομοιωθῆτε καὶ φόβος ὑμᾶς λάβῃ ἐπ’ αὐτοῖς
所以你們要謹慎，免得你們也效法那些外邦人，因他們而受感染，使懼怕臨到你們身上，
Beware therefore that ye in no wise be like to strangers, neither be ye and of them, when ye see the multitude before them and behind them, worshipping them.
1:6
ἰδόντας ὄχλον ἔμπροσθεν καὶ ὄπισθεν αὐτῶν προσκυνοῦντας αὐτά· εἴπατε δὲ τῇ διανοίᾳ· σοὶ δεῖ προσκυνεῖν, δέσποτα.
你們看見前後有眾人向那些偶像下拜。你們心裡要說：『主宰啊，惟有當敬拜你。』
But say ye in your hearts, O Lord, we must worship thee.
1:7
ὁ γὰρ ἄγγελός μου μεθ’ ὑμῶν ἐστιν, αὐτός τε ἐκζητῶν τὰς ψυχὰς ὑμῶν.
因為我的使者與你們同在，他必親自追討你們的性命。
For mine angel is with you, and I myself caring for your souls.
1:8
γλῶσσα γὰρ αὐτῶν ἐστι κετεξυσμένη ὑπὸ τέκτονος, αὐτά τε περίχρυσα καὶ περιάργυρα, ψευδῆ δ’ ἐστὶ καὶ οὐ δύνανται λαλεῖν.
原來這些偶像的舌頭是匠人鑿成的，外面鍍金鍍銀，卻是虛假的，不能說話。
As for their tongue, it is polished by the workman, and they themselves are gilded and laid over with silver; yet are they but false, and cannot speak.
1:9
καὶ ὥσπερ παρθένῳ φιλοκόσμῳ λαμβάνοντες χρυσίον κατασκευάζουσι στεφάνους ἐπὶ τὰς κεφαλὰς τῶν θεῶν αὐτῶν·
正如為愛美的處女取金子，他們也為自己的神明在頭上製作冠冕。
And taking gold, as it were for a virgin that loveth to go gay, they make crowns for the heads of their gods.
1:10
ἔστι δὲ καὶ ὅτε ὑφαιρούμενοι οἱ ἱερεῖς ἀπὸ τῶν θεῶν αὐτῶν χρυσίον καὶ ἀργύριον εἰς ἑαυτοὺς καταναλώσουσι, δώσουσι δὲ ἀπ’ αὐτῶν καὶ ταῖς ἐπὶ τοῦ στέγους πόρναις.
有時祭司私下從他們的神明身上偷取金銀，揮霍在自己身上，甚至把其中一些給樓上的妓女。
Sometimes also the priests convey from their gods gold and silver, and bestow it upon themselves.
1:11
κοσμοῦσί τε αὐτοὺς ὡς ἀνθρώπους τοῖς ἐνδύμασι, θεοὺς ἀργυροῦς καὶ θεοὺς χρυσοῦς καὶ ξυλίνους· οὗτοι δὲ οὐ διασῴζονται ἀπὸ ἰοῦ καὶ βρωμάτων.
他們又用衣裳裝飾這些神明，如同裝飾人一樣，這些銀神、金神和木神，卻不能保守自己不生鏽、不被蟲蛀。
Yea, they will give thereof to the common harlots, and deck them as men with garments, being gods of silver, and gods of gold, and wood.
1:12
περιβεβλημένων αὐτῶν ἱματισμὸν πορφυροῦν, ἐκμάσσονται τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτῶν διὰ τὸν ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας κονιορτόν, ὅς ἐστι πλείω ἐπ’ αὐτοῖς.
它們披著紫袍，因廟中的塵土比平時更多落在它們身上，人就得擦拭它們的臉。
Yet cannot these gods save themselves from rust and moth, though they be covered with purple raiment.
1:13
καὶ σκῆπτρον ἔχει ὡς ἄνθρωπος κριτὴς χώρας, ὃς τὸν εἰς αὐτὸν ἁμαρτάνοντα οὐκ ἀνελεῖ.
它有權杖，如同統管一方的審判官，卻不能除滅得罪它的人。
They wipe their faces because of the dust of the temple, when there is much upon them.
1:14
ἔχει δὲ ἐγχειρίδιον ἐν δεξιᾷ καὶ πέλεκυν, ἑαυτὸν δὲ ἐκ πολέμου καὶ λῃστῶν οὐκ ἐξελεῖται.
它右手拿著短劍和斧頭，自己卻不能從爭戰和強盜手中逃脫。
And he that cannot put to death one that offendeth him holdeth a sceptre, as though he were a judge of the country.
1:15
ὅθεν γνώριμοί εἰσιν οὐκ ὄντες θεοί· μὴ οὖν φοβηθῆτε αὐτούς. -
由此可知它們並不是神；所以你們不要懼怕它們。
He hath also in his right hand a dagger and an axe: but cannot deliver himself from war and thieves.
1:16
῞Ωσπερ γὰρ σκεῦος ἀνθρώπου συντριβὲν ἀχρεῖον γίνεται, τοιοῦτοι ὑπάρχουσιν οἱ θεοὶ αὐτῶν, καθιδρυμένων αὐτῶν ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις.
正如人所用的器皿破碎了就成了無用的，它們的神明也是如此，立在廟中。
Whereby they are known not to be gods: therefore fear them not.
1:17
οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτῶν πλήρεις εἰσὶ κονιορτοῦ ἀπὸ τῶν ποδῶν τῶν εἰσπορευομένων.
它們的眼睛滿了那些進來之人腳上揚起的塵土。
For like as a vessel that a man useth is nothing worth when it is broken; even so it is with their gods: when they be set up in the temple, their eyes be full of dust through the feet of them that come in.
1:18
καὶ ὥσπερ τινὶ ἠδικηκότι βασιλέα περιπεφραγμέναι εἰσὶν αἱ αὐλαί, ὡς ἐπὶ θανάτῳ ἀπηγμένῳ, τοὺς οἴκους αὐτῶν ὀχυροῦσιν οἱ ἱερεῖς θυρώμασί τε καὶ κλείθροις καὶ μοχλοῖς, ὅπως ὑπὸ τῶν λῃστῶν μὴ συληθῶσι.
就如人冒犯了王，被押去處死，四圍的院子要嚴密看守；照樣，祭司用門、閂和鎖把它們的廟宇加固，免得被強盜搶劫。
And as the doors are made sure on every side upon him that offendeth the king, as being committed to suffer death: even so the priests make fast their temples with doors, with locks, and bars, lest their gods be spoiled with robbers.
1:19
λύχνους καίουσι καὶ πλείους ἢ ἑαυτοῖς, ὧν οὐδένα δύνανται ἰδεῖν.
他們為它們點的燈比為自己點的還多，其中一盞它們也看不見。
They light them candles, yea, more than for themselves, whereof they cannot see one.
1:20
ἔστι μὲν ὥσπερ δοκὸς τῶν ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας, τὰς δὲ καρδίας αὐτῶν φασὶν ἐκλείχεσθαι, τῶν ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ἑρπετῶν κατεσθόντων αὐτούς τε καὶ τὸν ἱματισμὸν αὐτῶν, οὐκ αἰσθάνονται.
它們就如廟中的一根樑木，據說它們的心要被蛀蝕；地上的爬蟲吞喫它們和它們的衣裳，它們卻毫無知覺。
They are as one of the beams of the temple, yet they say their hearts are gnawed upon by things creeping out of the earth; and when they eat them and their clothes, they feel it not.
1:21
μεμελανωμένοι τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τοῦ καπνοῦ τοῦ ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας.
它們的臉因廟中的煙而被燻黑。
Their faces are blacked through the smoke that cometh out of the temple.
1:22
ἐπὶ τὸ σῶμα αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν ἐφίπτανται νυκτερίδες, χελιδόνες καὶ τὰ ὄρνεα, ὡσαύτως δὲ καὶ οἱ αἴλουροι.
蝙蝠、燕子和飛鳥落在它們的身上和頭上，貓也照樣如此。
Upon their bodies and heads sit bats, swallows, and birds, and the cats also.
1:23
ὅθεν γνώσεσθε ὅτι οὐκ εἰσὶ θεοί· μὴ οὖν φοβεῖσθε αὐτά. -
由此你們就知道它們並不是神；所以你們不要懼怕它們。
By this ye may know that they are no gods: therefore fear them not.
1:24
Τὸ γὰρ χρυσίον, ὃ περίκεινται εἰς κάλλος, ἐὰν μή τις ἐκμάξῃ τὸν ἰόν, οὐ μὴ στίλψωσιν· οὐδὲ γάρ, ὅτε ἐχωνεύοντο, ᾐσθάνοντο.
它們身上所鍍為美觀的金子，若無人擦去鏽跡，就不能發光；它們被鑄造的時候尚且毫無知覺。
Notwithstanding the gold that is about them to make them beautiful, except they wipe off the rust, they will not shine: for neither when they were molten did they feel it.
1:25
ἐκ πάσης τιμῆς ἠγορασμένα ἐστίν, ἐν οἷς οὐκ ἔστι πνεῦμα.
這些是用高價買來的，裡面卻沒有氣息。
The things wherein there is no breath are bought for a most high price.
1:26
ἄνευ ποδῶν ἐπ’ ὤμοις φέρονται ἐνδεικνύμενοι τὴν ἑαυτῶν ἀτιμίαν τοῖς ἀνθρώποις, αἰσχύνονταί τε καὶ οἱ θεραπεύοντες αὐτὰ
它們沒有腳，要被人扛在肩上，向人顯出自己的卑賤；連事奉它們的人也都蒙羞，
They are borne upon shoulders, having no feet whereby they declare unto men that they be nothing worth.
1:27
διὰ τὸ εἴ ποτε ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν πέσῃ, μὴ δι’ αὐτῶν ἀνίστασθαι· μήτε ἐάν τις αὐτὸ ὀρθὸν στήσῃ, δι’ ἑαυτοῦ κινηθήσεται, μήτε ἐὰν κλιθῇ, οὐ μὴ ὀρθωθῇ, ἀλλ’ ὥσπερ νεκροῖς τὰ δῶρα αὐτοῖς παρατίθεται.
因為它們若倒在地上，自己不能起來；人若把它扶正，它也不能自己挪動；人若使它傾斜，它也不能自己站直；人乃是像對待死人一樣，把供物擺在它們面前。
They also that serve them are ashamed: for if they fall to the ground at any time, they cannot rise up again of themselves: neither, if one set them upright, can they move of themselves: neither, if they be bowed down, can they make themselves straight: but they set gifts before them as unto dead men.
1:28
τὰς δὲ θυσίας αὐτῶν ἀποδόμενοι οἱ ἱερεῖς αὐτῶν καταχρῶνται· ὡσαύτως δὲ καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες αὐτῶν ἀπ’ αὐτῶν ταριχεύουσαι οὔτε πτωχῷ οὔτε ἀδυνάτῳ μὴ μεταδῶσι.
祭司把獻給它們的祭物賣了自肥；他們的妻子也照樣把祭物醃製，卻不分給貧窮人和軟弱的人。
As for the things that are sacrificed unto them, their priests sell and abuse; in like manner their wives lay up part thereof in salt; but unto the poor and impotent they give nothing of it.
1:29
τῶν θυσιῶν αὐτῶν ἀποκαθημένη καὶ λεχὼ ἅπτονται. γνόντες οὖν ἀπὸ τούτων ὅτι οὐκ εἰσὶ θεοί, μὴ φοβηθῆτε αὐτούς. -
連經期不潔的婦人和產婦也沾摸它們的祭物。由此你們既知道它們並不是神，就不要懼怕它們。
Menstruous women and women in childbed eat their sacrifices: by these things ye may know that they are no gods: fear them not.
1:30
Πόθεν γὰρ κληθείησαν θεοί; ὅτι γυναῖκες παρατιθέασι θεοῖς ἀργυροῖς καὶ χρυσοῖς καὶ ξυλίνοις·
它們怎能稱為神呢？因為連婦人都把供物擺在這些銀的、金的和木的神明面前。
For how can they be called gods? because women set meat before the gods of silver, gold, and wood.
1:31
καὶ ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις αὐτῶν οἱ ἱερεῖς διφρεύουσιν, ἔχοντες τοὺς χιτῶνας διερρωγότας καὶ τὰς κεφαλὰς καὶ τοὺς πώγωνας ἐξυρημένους, ὧν αἱ κεφαλαὶ ἀκάλυπτοί εἰσιν,
在它們的廟中，祭司坐在那裡，衣袍撕裂，剃了頭和鬍鬚，頭也露著，
And the priests sit in their temples, having their clothes rent, and their heads and beards shaven, and nothing upon their heads.
1:32
ὠρύονται δὲ βοῶντες ἐναντίον τῶν θεῶν αὐτῶν ὥσπερ τινὲς ἐν περιδείπνῳ νεκροῦ.
他們在自己的神明面前號咷哀叫，如同人在喪宴上一樣。
They roar and cry before their gods, as men do at the feast when one is dead.
1:33
ἀπὸ τοῦ ἱματισμοῦ αὐτῶν ἀφελόμενοι οἱ ἱερεῖς ἐνδύσουσι τὰς γυναῖκας αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ παιδία.
祭司從它們身上取下衣裳，給自己的妻子兒女穿戴。
The priests also take off their garments, and clothe their wives and children.
1:34
οὔτε ἐὰν κακὸν πάθωσιν ὑπό τινος οὔτε ἐὰν ἀγαθόν, δυνήσονται ἀνταποδοῦναι· οὔτε καταστῆσαι βασιλέα δύνανται οὔτε ἀφελέσθαι.
無論人怎樣加惡或行善與它們，它們都不能報答；它們既不能立王，也不能廢王。
Whether it be evil that one doeth unto them, or good, they are not able to recompense it: they can neither set up a king, nor put him down.
1:35
ὡσαύτως οὔτε πλοῦτον οὔτε χαλκὸν οὐ μὴ δύνωνται διδόναι· ἐάν τις εὐχὴν αὐτοῖς εὐξάμενος μὴ ἀποδῷ, οὐ μὴ ἐπιζητήσωσιν.
它們照樣不能賜給人財富或銅錢；人若向它們許願不還，它們也不能追討。
In like manner, they can neither give riches nor money: though a man make a vow unto them, and keep it not, they will not require it.
1:36
ἐκ θανάτου ἄνθρωπον οὐ μὴ ῥύσωνται οὔτε ἥττονα ἀπὸ ἰσχυροῦ μὴ ἐξέλωνται.
它們不能救人脫離死亡，也不能救弱者脫離強者。
They can save no man from death, neither deliver the weak from the mighty.
1:37
ἄνθρωπον τυφλὸν εἰς ὅρασιν οὐ μὴ περιστήσωσιν, ἐν ἀνάγκῃ ἄνθρωπον ὄντα οὐ μὴ ἐξέλωνται.
它們不能使瞎子得見，也不能救人脫離患難。
They cannot restore a blind man to his sight, nor help any man in his distress.
1:38
χήραν οὐ μὴ ἐλεήσωσιν οὔτε ὀρφανὸν εὖ ποιήσωσι.
它們不能憐憫寡婦，也不能善待孤兒。
They can shew no mercy to the widow, nor do good to the fatherless.
1:39
τοῖς ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄρους λίθοις ὡμοιωμένοι εἰσὶ τὰ ξύλινα καὶ τὰ περίχρυσα καὶ τὰ περιάργυρα, οἱ δὲ θεραπεύοντες αὐτὰ καταισχυνθήσονται.
這些木製的、鍍金鍍銀的偶像，正像山中的石頭一樣；事奉它們的人必蒙羞。
Their gods of wood, and which are overlaid with gold and silver, are like the stones that be hewn out of the mountain: they that worship them shall be confounded.
1:40
πῶς οὖν νομιστέον ἢ κλητέον ὑπάρχειν αὐτοὺς θεούς;
既然如此，怎能算它們、稱它們為神呢？
How should a man then think and say that they are gods, when even the Chaldeans themselves dishonour them?
1:41
ἔτι δὲ καὶ αὐτῶν τῶν Χαλδαίων ἀτιμαζόντων αὐτά, οἵ, ὅταν ἴδωσιν ἐνεὸν μὴ δυνάμενον λαλῆσαι, προσενεγκάμενοι τὸν Βῆλον ἀξιοῦσι φωνῆσαι, ὡς δυνατοῦ ὄντος αὐτοῦ αἰσθέσθαι,
況且連迦勒底人自己也羞辱它們；他們見一個啞巴神不能說話，就把彼勒抬來，求牠出聲，彷彿牠能聽見一樣。
Who if they shall see one dumb that cannot speak, they bring him, and intreat Bel that he may speak, as though he were able to understand.
1:42
καὶ οὐ δύνανται αὐτοὶ νοήσαντες καταλιπεῖν αὐτά, αἴσθησιν γὰρ οὐκ ἔχουσιν.
他們明知如此，卻不能撇棄這些偶像，因為他們沒有悟性。
Yet they cannot understand this themselves, and leave them: for they have no knowledge.
1:43
αἱ δὲ γυναῖκες περιθέμεναι σχοινία ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς ἐγκάθηνται θυμιῶσαι τὰ πίτυρα·
那些婦人腰繫繩子，坐在路旁，焚燒糠秕為香；
The women also with cords about them, sitting in the ways, burn bran for perfume: but if any of them, drawn by some that passeth by, lie with him, she reproacheth her fellow, that she was not thought as worthy as herself, nor her cord broken.
1:44
ὅταν δέ τις αὐτῶν ἐφελκυσθεῖσα ὑπό τινος τῶν παραπορευομένων κοιμηθῇ, τὴν πλησίον ὀνειδίζει, ὅτι οὐκ ἠξίωται ὥσπερ καὶ αὐτὴ οὔτε τὸ σχοινίον αὐτῆς διερράγη.
她們中間若有一個被過路的人拉去同寢，她就向鄰舍誇耀，說鄰舍不配像她受看重，連她的繩子也沒有斷。
Whatsoever is done among them is false: how may it then be thought or said that they are gods?
1:45
πάντα τὰ γενόμενα ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐστι ψευδῆ· πῶς οὖν νομιστέον ἢ κλητέον ὡς θεοὺς αὐτοὺς ὑπάρχειν;
凡與這些偶像有關的事都是虛假的；怎能算它們、稱它們為神呢？
They are made of carpenters and goldsmiths: they can be nothing else than the workmen will have them to be.
1:46
ὐπὸ τεκτόνων καὶ χρυσοχόων κατεσκευασμένα εἰσίν· οὐδὲν ἄλλο μὴ γένωνται ἢ ὃ βούλονται οἱ τεχνῖται αὐτὰ γενέσθαι.
它們是匠人和金匠所造的；除了匠人要它們成為何樣，它們別無所成。
And they themselves that made them can never continue long; how should then the things that are made of them be gods?
1:47
αὐτοί τε οἱ κατασκευάζοντες αὐτὰ οὐ μὴ γένωνται πολυχρόνιοι·
那些造它們的人尚且不能長久存活，
For they left lies and reproaches to them that come after.
1:48
πῶς τε δὴ μέλλει τὰ ὑπ’ αὐτῶν κατασκευασθέντα εἶναι θεοί; κατέλιπον γὰρ ψεύδη καὶ ὄνειδος τοῖς ἐπιγινομένοις.
他們所造的怎能成為神呢？他們不過給後人留下了虛假和羞辱。
For when there cometh any war or plague upon them, the priests consult with themselves, where they may be hidden with them.
1:49
ὅταν γὰρ ἐπέλθῃ ἐπ’ αὐτὰ πόλεμος καὶ κακά, βουλεύονται πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς οἱ ἱερεῖς ποῦ συναποκρυβῶσι μετ’ αὐτῶν.
每逢戰爭和災禍臨到它們，祭司就彼此商議，要躲到哪裡與它們一同藏匿。
How then cannot men perceive that they be no gods, which can neither save themselves from war, nor from plague?
1:50
πῶς οὖν οὐκ ἔστιν αἰσθέσθαι ὅτι οὐκ εἰσὶ θεοί, οἳ οὔτε σῴζουσιν ἑαυτοὺς ἐκ πολέμου οὔτε ἐκ κακῶν;
既然它們連自己都不能救脫戰爭和災禍，怎能不覺察它們並不是神呢？
For seeing they be but of wood, and overlaid with silver and gold, it shall be known hereafter that they are false:
1:51
ὑπάρχοντα γὰρ ξύλινα καὶ περίχρυσα καὶ περιάργυρα γνωσθήσεται μετὰ ταῦτα, ὅτι ἐστὶ ψευδῆ· τοῖς ἔθνεσι πᾶσι τοῖς τε βασιλεῦσι φανερὸν ἔσται, ὅτι οὐκ εἰσὶ θεοί, ἀλλὰ ἔργα χειρῶν ἀνθρώπων, καὶ οὐδὲν Θεοῦ ἔργον ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐστι.
它們不過是木製的、鍍金鍍銀的；此後人必知道它們是虛假的。在萬國和列王面前，必顯明它們並不是神，乃是人手所造的，其中毫無神的作為。
And it shall manifestly appear to all nations and kings that they are no gods, but the works of men’s hands, and that there is no work of God in them.
1:52
τίνι οὖν γνωστέον ἐστίν, ὅτι οὐκ εἰσὶ θεοί;
那麼，從何處可知它們並不是神呢？
Who then may not know that they are no gods?
1:53
βασιλέα γὰρ χώρας οὐ μὴ ἀναστήσωσιν οὔτε ὑετὸν ἀνθρώποις οὐ μὴ δῶσι,
因為它們不能立一國之王，也不能降雨給人，
For neither can they set up a king in the land, nor give rain unto men.
1:54
κρίσιν τε οὐ μὴ διακρίνωσιν αὐτῶν, οὐδὲ μὴ ρύσωνται ἀδικούμενον ἀδύνατοι ὄντες· ὥσπερ γὰρ κορῶναι ἀναμέσον τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τῆς γῆς.
既不能審斷它們自己的訴訟，也不能拯救受冤屈的人，因為它們無能為力，正如天地之間的烏鴉一般。
Neither can they judge their own cause, nor redress a wrong, being unable: for they are as crows between heaven and earth.
1:55
καὶ γὰρ ὅταν ἐμπέσῃ εἰς οἰκίαν θεῶν ξυλίων ἢ περιχεύσων ἢ περιαργύρων πῦρ, οἱ μὲν ἱερεῖς αὐτῶν φεύξονται καὶ διασωθήσονται, αὐτοὶ δὲ ὥσπερ δοκοὶ μέσοι κατακαυθήσονται.
當火落在這些木製、鍍金、鍍銀之神明的廟中時，它們的祭司逃跑得救，它們自己卻像廟中的樑木被焚燒。
Whereupon when fire falleth upon the house of gods of wood, or laid over with gold or silver, their priests will flee away, and escape; but they themselves shall be burned asunder like beams.
1:56
βασιλεῖ δὲ καὶ πολεμίοις οὐ μὴ ἀντιστῶσι.
它們既不能抵擋君王，也不能抵擋仇敵。
Moreover they cannot withstand any king or enemies: how can it then be thought or said that they be gods?
1:57
πῶς οὖν ἐκδεκτέον ἢ νομιστέον ὅτι εἰσὶ θεοί; οὔτε ἀπὸ κλεπτῶν οὔτε ἀπὸ λῃστῶν οὐ μὴ διασωθῶσι θεοὶ ξύλινοι καὶ περιάργυροι καὶ περίχρυσοι,
那麼，怎能接受或斷定它們是神呢？這些木製、鍍銀、鍍金的神明，既不能脫離盜賊，也不能脫離強盜；
Neither are those gods of wood, and laid over with silver or gold, able to escape either from thieves or robbers.
1:58
ὧν οἱ ἰσχύοντες περιελοῦνται τὸ χρυσίον καὶ τὸ ἀργύριον, καὶ τὸν ἱματισμὸν τὸν περικείμενον αὐτοῖς ἀπελεύσονται ἔχοντες, οὔτε ἑαυτοῖς οὐ μὴ βοηθήσωσιν·
那些強壯的人要奪去它們的金銀，連披在它們身上的衣裳也要拿走離去；它們連自己都不能幫助。
Whose gold, and silver, and garments wherewith they are clothed, they that are strong take, and go away withal: neither are they able to help themselves.
1:59
ὥστε κρεῖσσον εἶναι βασιλέα ἐπιδεικνύμενον τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ἀνδρείαν ἢ σκεῦος ἐν οἰκίᾳ χρήσιμον, ἐφ’ ᾣ χρήσεται ὁ κεκτημένος, ἢ οἱ ψευδεῖς θεοί· ἢ καὶ θύρα ἐν οἰκίᾳ διασῴζουσα τὰ ἐν αὐτῇ ὄντα ἢ ψευδεῖς θεοί· καὶ ξύλινος στύλος ἐν βασιλείοις ἢ οἱ ψευδεῖς θεοί.
所以，一個彰顯自己勇力的君王，或一件家中有用、為主人所用的器皿，都勝過這些虛假的神；一扇能保守家中之物的門，也勝過虛假的神；王宮中一根木柱，也勝過這些虛假的神。
Therefore it is better to be a king that sheweth his power, or else a profitable vessel in an house, which the owner shall have use of, than such false gods; or to be a door in an house, to keep such things therein, than such false gods. or a pillar of wood in a a palace, than such false gods.
1:60
ἥλιος μὲν γὰρ καὶ σελήνη καὶ ἄστρα ὄντα λαμπρὰ καὶ ἀποστελλόμενα ἐπὶ χρείας εὐήκοά εἰσιν·
因為日頭、月亮和星辰光明，奉差為人效用，並且順命；
For sun, moon, and stars, being bright and sent to do their offices, are obedient.
1:61
ὡσαύτως καὶ ἀστραπή, ὅταν ἐπιφανῇ, εὔοπτός ἐστι, τὸ δ’ αὐτὸ καὶ πνεῦμα ἐν πάσῃ χώρᾳ πνεῖ.
照樣，閃電出現時，明亮可見；風也在各地吹拂。
In like manner the lightning when it breaketh forth is easy to be seen; and after the same manner the wind bloweth in every country.
1:62
καὶνεφέλαις ὅταν ἐπιταγῇ ὑπὸ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐπιπορεύεσθαι ἐφ’ ὅλην τὴν οἰκουμένην, συντελοῦσι τὸ ταχθέν· τό τε πῦρ ἐξαποσταλὲν ἄνωθεν ἐξαναλῶσαι ὄρη καὶ δρυμούς, ποιεῖ τὸ συνταχθέν.
雲彩被神吩咐遍行全地時，就成就所命定的；火從上面奉差遣燒滅山嶺和林木時，也成就所吩咐的。
And when God commandeth the clouds to go over the whole world, they do as they are bidden.
1:63
ταῦτα δὲ οὔτε ταῖς ἰδέαις οὔτε ταῖς δυνάμεσιν αὐτῶν ἀφωμοιωμένα ἐστίν.
這些偶像無論在形狀或能力上，都不能與這些相比。
And the fire sent from above to consume hills and woods doeth as it is commanded: but these are like unto them neither in shew nor power.
1:64
ὅθεν οὔτε νομιστέον οὔτε κλητέον ὑπάρχειν αὐτοὺς θεούς, οὐ δυνατῶν ὄντων αὐτῶν οὔτε κρίσιν κρῖναι οὔτε εὖ ποιῆσαι ἀνθρώποις.
所以既不能算它們、也不能稱它們為神，因為它們既不能審判案件，也不能善待世人。
Wherefore it is neither to be supposed nor said that they are gods, seeing, they are able neither to judge causes, nor to do good unto men.
1:65
γνόντες οὖν ὅτι οὐκ εἰσὶ θεοί, μὴ φοβηθῆτε αὐτούς·
你們既知道它們並不是神，就不要懼怕它們。
Knowing therefore that they are no gods, fear them not,
1:66
οὔτε γὰρ βασιλεῦσιν οὐ μὴ καταράσωνται οὔτε μὴ εὐλογήσωσι.
它們既不能咒詛君王，也不能祝福君王。
For they can neither curse nor bless kings:
1:67
σημεῖά τε ἐν ἔθνεσιν ἐν οὐρανῷ οὐ μὴ δείξωσιν, οὐδὲ ὡς ὁ ἥλιος λάμψουσιν οὐδὲ φωτιοῦσιν ὡς ἡ σελήνη.
它們不能在列國中於天上顯出兆頭，也不能像日頭發光，更不能像月亮放光。
Neither can they shew signs in the heavens among the heathen, nor shine as the sun, nor give light as the moon.
1:68
τὰ θηρία ἐστὶκρείττῳ αὐτῶν, ἃ δύνανται ἐκφυγόντα εἰς σκέπην ἑαυτὰ ὠφελῆσαι.
野獸尚且勝過它們，因為野獸還能逃進遮蔽之處，保全自己。
The beasts are better than they: for they can get under a cover and help themselves.
1:69
κατ’ οὐδένα οὖν τρόπον ἡμῖν ἐστι φανερὸν ὅτι εἰσὶ θεοί. διὸ μὴ φοβηθῆτε αὐτούς·
所以我們無論從哪一面看，都沒有明證它們是神；故此你們不要懼怕它們。
It is then by no means manifest unto us that they are gods: therefore fear them not.
1:70
ὥσπερ γὰρ ἐν σικυηράτῳ προβασκάνιον οὐδὲν φυλάσσον, οὕτως οἱ θεοὶ αὐτῶν εἰσὶ ξύλινοι καὶ περίχρυσοι καὶ περιάργυροι.
正如瓜田裡的稻草人一無所守，它們的神明也是如此，不過是木製、鍍金、鍍銀的。
For as a scarecrow in a garden of cucumbers keepeth nothing: so are their gods of wood, and laid over with silver and gold.
1:71
τὸν αὐτὸν τρόπον καὶ τῇ ἐν κήπῳ ράμνῳ, ἐφ’ ἧς πᾶν ὄρνεον ἐπικάθηται, ὡσαύτως δὲ καὶ νεκρῷ ἐρριμμένῳ ἐν σκότει ἀφωμοίωνται οἱ θεοὶ αὐτῶν ξύλινοι καὶ περίχρυσοι καὶ περιάργυροι.
它們也好像園中的荊棘，各樣的鳥都棲在上面；又好像丟棄在黑暗中的死屍。它們的神明，那木製、鍍金、鍍銀的，正與這些相像。
And likewise their gods of wood, and laid over with silver and gold, are like to a white thorn in an orchard, that every bird sitteth upon; as also to a dead body, that is east into the dark.
1:72
ἀπό τε τῆς πορφύρας καὶ τῆς μαρμάρου τῆς ἐπ’ αὐτοῖς σηπομένης γνωσθήσονται ὅτι οὐκ εἰσὶ θεοί· αὐτά τε ἐξ ὑστέρου βρωθήσονται, καὶ ἔσται ὄνειδος ἐν τῇ χώρᾳ.
從它們身上紫袍和雲石的腐朽，人就知道它們並不是神；它們自己終必被蛀蝕，在那地成為羞辱。
And ye shall know them to be no gods by the bright purple that rotteth upon them: and they themselves afterward shall be eaten, and shall be a reproach in the country.
1:73
κρεῖσσον οὖν ἄνθρωπος δίκαιος οὐκ ἔχων εἴδωλα, ἔσται γὰρ μακρὰν ἀπὸ ὀνειδισμοῦ.
所以，一個沒有偶像的義人，勝過這些偶像，因為他必遠離羞辱。
Better therefore is the just man that hath none idols: for he shall be far from reproach.
