5:1

ወበእንተሰ ዕድሜሁ ወዕለቱ ወጊዜሁ አኀዊነ ኢትፈቅዱ ንጽሐፍ ለክሙ።

弟兄們，論到時候、日期，不用寫信給你們，

But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.

5:2

ለሊክሙ ተአምሩ ጥዩቀ ከመ ዕለተ እግዚእነ ትመጽእ ከመ ምጽአተ ሰራቂ ሌሊተ ከማሁ ይከውን ምጽአቱ።

因為你們自己明明曉得，主的日子來到，好像夜間的賊一樣。

For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.

5:3

አመ ይብሉ እለ ይክሕዱ ኪያሁ ከመ ውስተ ዳኅን ወሰላም እሙንቱ ወህየ ግብተ ይመጽኦሙ ተሠርዎ ከመ ፅንስት እንተ ይመጽኣ ማሕምም ወኢይክሉ አምስጦ።

人正說「平安穩妥」的時候，災禍忽然臨到他們，如同產難臨到懷胎的婦人一樣，他們絕不能逃脫。

For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they will in no way escape.

5:4

ወአንትሙሰ አኀዊነ ኢሀለውክሙ ውስተ ጽልመት ከመ ይርከብክሙ ውእቱ ዕለት ከመ ሰራቂ።

弟兄們，你們卻不在黑暗裏，叫那日子臨到你們像賊一樣。

But you, brothers, aren’t in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief.

5:5

እስመ ኵልክሙ ውሉደ ብርሃን አንትሙ ወውሉደ መዓልት ወኢኮንክሙ ውሉደ ሌሊት ወኢውሉደ ጽልመት።

你們都是光明之子，都是白晝之子。我們不是屬黑夜的，也不是屬幽暗的。

You are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness,

5:6

ወኢንኑም እንከ ከመ እልኩ አላ ንንቃህ በኅሊናነ ወንትጋህ ወንጥበብ።

所以，我們不要睡覺像別人一樣，總要警醒謹守。

so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.

5:7

እስመ እለ ይነውሙ ሌሊተ ይነውሙ ወእለሂ ይሰክሩ ሌሊተ ይሰክሩ።

因為睡了的人是在夜間睡，醉了的人是在夜間醉。

For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are drunk are drunk in the night.

5:8

ወንሕነሰ እንዘ ውሉደ መዓልት ንሕነ ንንቃሕ ወንልበስ ልብሰ ኀጺን ዘሃይማኖት ወዘተፋቅሮ ወንትቀጸል ጌራ ተስፋ መድኀኒት።

但我們既然屬乎白晝，就應當謹守，把信和愛當作護心鏡遮胸，把得救的盼望當作頭盔戴上。

But since we belong to the day, let’s be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

5:9

እስመ ኢረሰየነ እግዚአብሔር ለመንሱት ዘእንበለ ለሕይወት ወለመድኀኒት በእግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ፤

因為上帝不是預定我們受刑，乃是預定我們藉着我們主耶穌基督得救。

For God didn’t appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
