12:1

Tunc vocavit ad se Tobias filium suum, dixitque ei : Quid possumus dare viro isti sancto, qui venit tecum ?

婚事辦完後，託彼特叫了他的兒子多俾亞來，對他說：「孩子，你要留意給那與你同行的人工資，並要在工資以外多加給他。」

And Tobit called his son Tobias, and said to him, “See, my child, that the man which went with you have his wages, and you must give him more.”

12:2

Respondens Tobias, dixit patri suo : Pater, quam mercedem dabimus ei ? aut quid dignum poterit esse beneficiis ejus ?

多俾亞對他說：「父親，我該給他多少工資呢？就是把他和我一同帶回來的財物分一半給他，於我也無損。

And he said to him, “Father, it is no harm to me to give him the half of those things which I have brought;

12:3

Me duxit et reduxit sanum, pecuniam a Gabelo ipse recepit, uxorem ipse me habere fecit, et dæmonium ab ea ipse compescuit : gaudium parentibus ejus fecit, meipsum a devoratione piscis eripuit, te quoque videre fecit lumen cæli, et bonis omnibus per eum repleti sumus. Quid illi ad hæc poterimus dignum dare ?

他平安地帶我回來，治好了我的妻子，又帶回了我的銀錢，也治好了你。我還該再給他多少工資呢？」

for he has led me for you in safety, and he cured my wife, and brought my money, and likewise cured you.”

12:4

Sed peto te, pater mi, ut roges eum, si forte dignabitur medietatem de omnibus quæ allata sunt, sibi assumere.

託彼特對他說：「孩子，把他帶來的一切分一半給他，是理所當然的。」

The old man said, “It is due to him.”

12:5

Et vocantes eum, pater scilicet et filius, tulerunt eum in partem : et rogare cœperunt ut dignaretur dimidiam partem omnium quæ attulerant acceptam habere.

多俾亞便叫了他來，對他說：「把你帶來的一切取一半，作你的工資吧，你平安去吧。」

And he called the angel, and said to him, “Take half of all that you all have brought.”

12:6

Tunc dixit eis occulte : Benedicite Deum cæli, et coram omnibus viventibus confitemini ei, quia fecit vobiscum misericordiam suam.

那時，辣斐耳把他們二人暗暗叫到一旁，對他們說：「你們要讚美天主，要在一切活人面前向祂稱謝，述說祂向你們所行的善事。讚美並歌頌祂的名是美好的；你們要鄭重地向眾人宣揚天主的作為，不可懶於向祂稱謝。

Then he called them both privily, and said to them, “Bless God, and give him thanks, and magnify him, and give him thanks in the sight of all that live, for the things which he has done with you. It is good to bless God and exalt his name, showing forth with honor the works of God. Don’t be slack to give him thanks.

12:7

Etenim sacramentum regis abscondere bonum est : opera autem Dei revelare et confiteri honorificum est.

隱藏君王的祕密固然是好，但宣揚天主的作為、鄭重地稱謝祂卻是當行的。你們要行善，兇禍就不臨到你們。

It is good to keep close the secret of a king, but to reveal gloriously the works of God. Do good, and evil won’t find you.

12:8

Bona est oratio cum jejunio, et eleemosyna magis quam thesauros auri recondere :

祈禱與誠實同行是好的，施捨與正義並行也是好的；正義所得的少，勝過不義所得的多。行施捨勝過積蓄金子。

Good is prayer with fasting, alms, and righteousness. A little with righteousness is better than much with unrighteousness. It is better to give alms than to lay up gold.

12:9

quoniam eleemosyna a morte liberat, et ipsa est quæ purgat peccata, et facit invenire misericordiam et viam æternam.

因為施捨救人脫離死亡，又能洗淨一切罪過。行施捨的人必得享豐盛的生命；

Alms delivers from death, and it purges away all sin. Those who give alms and do righteousness will be filled with life;
