路得記 第 2 章

Now Noemin had a kinsman of her husband's, a man of great ability, of the family of Abimelech; and his name was Boos.

And Ruth the Moabitess said to Noemin, "Let me go to the field and glean among the ears of grain behind him in whose eyes I find favor." And she said to her, "Go, my daughter."

So she went and gleaned in the field behind the reapers; and she happened to come upon the portion of the field belonging to Boos, who was of the family of Abimelech.

And behold, Boos came from Bethlehem and said to the reapers, "The Lord be with you." And they said to him, "The Lord bless you."

And Boos said to his servant who was set over the reapers, "Whose young woman is this?"

And the servant who was set over the reapers answered and said, "She is the Moabite girl who returned with Noemin from the country of Moab.

She said, 'Let me glean and gather among the sheaves behind the reapers.' So she came, and has continued from morning until evening, without resting in the field even a little."

And Boos said to Ruth, "Have you not heard, my daughter? Do not go to glean in another field; do not leave this place, but stay close to my young women.

Keep your eyes on the field where they are reaping, and go after them. Behold, I have charged the young men not to touch you. And when you are thirsty, go to the vessels and drink from what the young men have drawn."

Then she fell on her face and bowed to the ground and said to him, "Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, seeing I am a foreigner?"

And Boos answered and said to her, "It has been fully told me all that you have done for your mother-in-law after the death of your husband, and how you left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and came to a people you did not know before.

May the Lord repay your work, and may your reward be full from the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge."

And she said, "May I find favor in your eyes, my lord, for you have comforted me and spoken to the heart of your servant, though I am not as one of your maidservants."

And at mealtime Boos said to her, "Come here and eat some bread, and dip your morsel in the vinegar." So Ruth sat beside the reapers, and Boos heaped up parched grain for her; and she ate and was satisfied and had some left over.

And when she rose to glean, Boos commanded his young men, saying, "Let her glean even among the sheaves, and do not put her to shame.

And also pull out some for her from the bundles, and leave it for her to glean, and do not rebuke her."

So she gleaned in the field until evening; and she beat out what she had gleaned, and it was about an ephah of barley.

And she took it up and went into the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned. And Ruth brought out and gave her what she had left over after she was satisfied.

And her mother-in-law said to her, "Where did you glean today, and where did you work? Blessed be the one who took notice of you." And Ruth told her mother-in-law where she had worked, and said, "The name of the man with whom I worked today is Boos."

And Noemin said to her daughter-in-law, "Blessed be he of the Lord, who has not forsaken his mercy toward the living and the dead." And Noemin said to her, "The man is a near relative of ours; he is one of our kinsmen-redeemers."

And Ruth said to her mother-in-law, "Moreover he said to me, 'Stay close to my young men until they have finished all my harvest.'"

And Noemin said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, "It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his young women, and that they do not meet you in another field."

So she stayed close to the young women of Boos, gleaning until the end of the barley and wheat harvest. And she lived with her mother-in-law.
