11:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּקָּבְצ֧וּ כׇֽל ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אֶל ־דָּוִ֖יד חֶבְר֣וֹנָה לֵאמֹ֑ר הִנֵּ֛ה עַצְמְךָ֥ וּֽבְשָׂרְךָ֖ אֲנָֽחְנוּ ׃
καὶ ἦλθεν πᾶς Ισραηλ πρὸς Δαυιδ ἐν Χεβρων λέγοντες ἰδοὺ ὀστᾶ σου καὶ σάρκες σου ἡμεῖς
Congregatus est igitur omnis Israël ad David in Hebron , dicens : Os tuum sumus , et caro tua .
ወተጋብኡ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ኀበ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ በኬብሮን ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ነዋኬ ፡ አፅምከ ፡ ወሥጋከ ፡ ንሕነ ።
Then all Israel gathered themselves to David to Hebron, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
11:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ גַּם ־תְּמ֣וֹל גַּם ־שִׁלְשׁ֗וֹם גַּ֚ם בִּֽהְי֣וֹת שָׁא֣וּל מֶ֔לֶךְ אַתָּ֛ה הַמּוֹצִ֥יא וְהַמֵּבִ֖יא אֶת ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיֹּ֩אמֶר֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ לְךָ֗ אַתָּ֨ה תִרְעֶ֤ה אֶת ־עַמִּי֙ אֶת ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאַתָּה֙ תִּֽהְיֶ֣ה נָגִ֔יד עַ֖ל עַמִּ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
καὶ ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ὄντος Σαουλ βασιλέως σὺ ἦσθα ὁ ἐξάγων καὶ εἰσάγων τὸν Ισραηλ καὶ εἶπεν κύριος ὁ θεός σού σοι σὺ ποιμανεῖς τὸν λαόν μου τὸν Ισραηλ καὶ σὺ ἔσῃ εἰς ἡγούμενον ἐπὶ Ισραηλ
Heri quoque et nudiustertius cum adhuc regnaret Saul , tu eras qui educebas et introducebas Israël : tibi enim dixit Dominus Deus tuus : Tu pasces populum meum Israël , et tu eris princeps super eum .
ትማልምኒ ፡ ወሣልስትኒ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ሀሎ ፡ ሳኦል ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ አንተ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘትኤዝዝ ፡ ለበዊእ ፡ ወለወጺእ ፡ ወአንተ ፡ አባእኮ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ወይቤለከ ፡ እግዚአብሄር ፡ አምላክከ ፡ አንተ ፡ ትርዕዮሙ ፡ ለእሰስራኤል ፡ ሕዝብየ ።
In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh your God said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over my people Israel.’”
11:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַ֠יָּבֹ֠אוּ כׇּל ־זִקְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל אֶל ־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ חֶבְר֔וֹנָה וַיִּכְרֹת֩ לָהֶ֨ם דָּוִ֥יד בְּרִ֛ית בְּחֶבְר֖וֹן לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה וַיִּמְשְׁח֨וּ אֶת ־דָּוִ֤יד לְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙ עַל ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּדְבַ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה בְּיַד ־שְׁמוּאֵֽל ׃ {ס}
καὶ ἦλθον πάντες πρεσβύτεροι Ισραηλ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα εἰς Χεβρων καὶ διέθετο αὐτοῖς ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυιδ διαθήκην ἐν Χεβρων ἐναντίον κυρίου καὶ ἔχρισαν τὸν Δαυιδ εἰς βασιλέα ἐπὶ Ισραηλ κατὰ τὸν λόγον κυρίου διὰ χειρὸς Σαμουηλ
Venerunt ergo omnes majores natu Israël ad regem in Hebron , et iniit David cum eis foedus coram Domino : unxeruntque eum regem super Israël , juxta sermonem Domini quem locutus est in manu Samuel .
ወመጽኡ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ መላእክተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ኀበ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ወተካየዱ ፡ በኪዳነ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ በቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሄር ፡ በኬብሮን ፡ ወቀብዕም ፡ ለዳዊት ፡ ከመ ፡ ይኩን ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ በከመ ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሄር ፡ ዘኮነ ፡ በእዴሁ ፡ ለሳሙኤል ።
So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh. They anointed David king over Israel, according to Yahweh’s word by Samuel.
11:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ דָּוִ֧יד וְכׇל ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם הִ֣יא יְב֑וּס וְשָׁם֙ הַיְבוּסִ֔י יֹשְׁבֵ֖י הָאָֽרֶץ ׃
καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ἄνδρες Ισραηλ εἰς Ιερουσαλημ αὕτη Ιεβους καὶ ἐκεῖ οἱ Ιεβουσαῖοι οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὴν γῆν
Abiit quoque David et omnis Israël in Jerusalem : haec est Jebus , ubi erant Jebusaei habitatores terrae .
ወሖረ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ እደወ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም ፡ ወከመዝ ፡ ስማ ፡ ኢያቡስ ፡ ወህየ ፡ ኢያቡሳውያን ፡ እለ ፡ የኃድሩ ፡ በምድሮሙ ።
David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (also called Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.
11:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ יֹשְׁבֵ֤י יְבוּס֙ לְדָוִ֔יד לֹ֥א תָב֖וֹא הֵ֑נָּה וַיִּלְכֹּ֤ד דָּוִיד֙ אֶת ־מְצֻדַ֣ת צִיּ֔וֹן הִ֖יא עִ֥יר דָּוִֽיד ׃
εἶπαν δὲ οἱ κατοικοῦντες Ιεβους τῷ Δαυιδ οὐκ εἰσελεύσῃ ὧδε καὶ προκατελάβετο τὴν περιοχὴν Σιων αὕτη ἡ πόλις Δαυιδ
Dixeruntque qui habitabant in Jebus ad David : Non ingredieris huc . Porro David cepit arcem Sion , quae est civitas David ,
ወአውሥኡ ፡ እለ ፡ የኃድሩ ፡ ኢያቡስ ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ኢትበውእ ፡ ዝየ ፡ ወአቅደሙ ፡ እኂዘ ፡ ፀወነ ፡ ጽዮን ፡ ወዛቲ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ሀገረ ፡ ዳዊት ።
The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You will not come in here!” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. The same is David’s city.
11:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔יד כׇּל ־מַכֵּ֤ה יְבוּסִי֙ בָּרִ֣אשׁוֹנָ֔ה יִהְיֶ֥ה לְרֹ֖אשׁ וּלְשָׂ֑ר וַיַּ֧עַל בָּרִאשׁוֹנָ֛ה יוֹאָ֥ב בֶּן ־צְרוּיָ֖ה וַיְהִ֥י לְרֹֽאשׁ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ πᾶς τύπτων Ιεβουσαῖον ἐν πρώτοις καὶ ἔσται εἰς ἄρχοντα καὶ εἰς στρατηγόν καὶ ἀνέβη ἐπ’ αὐτὴν ἐν πρώτοις Ιωαβ υἱὸς Σαρουια καὶ ἐγένετο εἰς ἄρχοντα
dixitque : Omnis qui percusserit Jebusaeum in primis , erit princeps et dux . Ascendit igitur primus Joab filius Sarviae , et factus est princeps .
ወይቤ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዘቀደመ ፡ ቀቲለ ፡ ኢያቡሳዌ ፡ እሠይሞ ፡ መልአከ ፡ ወሊቀ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወቦአ ፡ ወቀስተወ ፡ ፍጽመ ፡ ኢዮአብ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ሶርህያ ፡ ወሤሞ ፡ መልአከ ።
David had said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.” Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.
11:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב דָּוִ֖יד בַּמְצָ֑ד עַל ־כֵּ֥ן קָרְאוּ ־ל֖וֹ עִ֥יר דָּוִֽיד ׃
καὶ ἐκάθισεν Δαυιδ ἐν τῇ περιοχῇ διὰ τοῦτο ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὴν πόλιν Δαυιδ
Habitavit autem David in arce , et idcirco appellata est civitas David .
ወነበረ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ውስተ ፡ ፀወን ፡ ወበእንተዝ ፡ ተሰምየ ፡ ዝኩ ፡ ፀወነ ፡ ጽዮን ፡ ሀገረ ፡ ዳዊት ።
David lived in the stronghold; therefore they called it David’s city.
11:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּ֤בֶן הָעִיר֙ מִסָּבִ֔יב מִן ־הַמִּלּ֖וֹא וְעַד ־הַסָּבִ֑יב וְיוֹאָ֕ב יְחַיֶּ֖ה אֶת ־שְׁאָ֥ר הָעִֽיר ׃
καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν τὴν πόλιν κύκλῳ καὶ ἐπολέμησεν καὶ ἔλαβεν τὴν πόλιν
Aedificavitque urbem in circuitu a Mello usque ad gyrum ; Joab autem reliqua urbis exstruxit .
ወሐነፀ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ዓውዳ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ወተቃተላ ፡ ወአስተጋብኣ ፡ ለሀገር ።
He built the city all around, from Millo even around; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
11:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִ֖יד הָל֣וֹךְ וְגָד֑וֹל וַיהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת עִמּֽוֹ ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐπορεύετο Δαυιδ πορευόμενος καὶ μεγαλυνόμενος καὶ κύριος παντοκράτωρ μετ’ αὐτοῦ
Proficiebatque David vadens et crescens , et Dominus exercituum erat cum eo .
ወሖረ ፡ ወዐብየ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ወጸንዐ ፡ በእግዚአብሄር ፡ አኃዜ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ እስመ ፡ እግዚአብሄር ፡ ፀባዖት ፡ ሀሎ ፡ ምስሌሁ ።
David grew greater and greater, for Yahweh of Armies was with him.
11:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאֵ֨לֶּה רָאשֵׁ֤י הַגִּבֹּרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְדָוִ֔יד הַמִּתְחַזְּקִ֨ים עִמּ֧וֹ בְמַלְכוּת֛וֹ עִם ־כׇּל ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לְהַמְלִיכ֑וֹ כִּדְבַ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה עַל ־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃ {ס}
καὶ οὗτοι οἱ ἄρχοντες τῶν δυνατῶν οἳ ἦσαν τῷ Δαυιδ οἱ κατισχύοντες μετ’ αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ μετὰ παντὸς Ισραηλ τοῦ βασιλεῦσαι αὐτὸν κατὰ τὸν λόγον κυρίου ἐπὶ Ισραηλ
Hi principes virorum fortium David , qui adjuverunt eum ut rex fieret super omnem Israël , juxta verbum Domini quod locutus est ad Israël .
ወእሉ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ መላእክት ፡ ጽኑዓን ፡ እለ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ እለ ፡ ጽኑዓን ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ በመንግሥቱ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ከመ ፡ ያንግሥዎ ፡ በቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሄር ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እስራኤል ።
Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to Yahweh’s word concerning Israel.
11:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאֵ֛לֶּה מִסְפַּ֥ר הַגִּבֹּרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְדָוִ֑יד יָֽשׇׁבְעָ֣ם בֶּן ־חַכְמוֹנִ֗י רֹ֚אשׁ (השלושים ) [הַשָּׁ֣לִישִׁ֔ים ] הֽוּא ־עוֹרֵ֧ר אֶת ־חֲנִית֛וֹ עַל ־שְׁלֹשׁ ־מֵא֥וֹת חָלָ֖ל בְּפַ֥עַם אֶחָֽת ׃
καὶ οὗτος ὁ ἀριθμὸς τῶν δυνατῶν τοῦ Δαυιδ Ιεσεβααλ υἱὸς Αχαμανι πρῶτος τῶν τριάκοντα οὗτος ἐσπάσατο τὴν ῥομφαίαν αὐτοῦ ἅπαξ ἐπὶ τριακοσίους τραυματίας ἐν καιρῷ ἑνί
Et iste numerus robustorum David : Jesbaam filius Hachamoni princeps inter triginta : iste levavit hastam suam super trecentos vulneratos una vice .
ወዝንቱ ፡ ኍልቆሙ ፡ ለኃያላን ፡ እለ ፡ ኮኑ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ኢያቡስቴ ፡ ወልደ ፡ አኪማን ፡ ርእሰ ፡ ሠላሳ ፡ ወውእቱኒ ፡ ኢያቡስቴ ፡ መልሐ ፡ ሰይፎ ፡ በአሐቲ ፡ ዕለት ፡ ወቀተሎሙ ፡ ለሠለስቱ ፡ ምእት ።
This is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them at one time.
11:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַחֲרָ֛יו אֶלְעָזָ֥ר בֶּן ־דּוֹד֖וֹ הָאֲחוֹחִ֑י ה֖וּא בִּשְׁלוֹשָׁ֥ה הַגִּבֹּרִֽים ׃
καὶ μετ’ αὐτὸν Ελεαζαρ υἱὸς Δωδαι ὁ Αχωχι οὗτος ἦν ἐν τοῖς τρισὶν δυνατοῖς
Et post eum Eleazar filius patrui ejus Ahohites , qui erat inter tres potentes .
ወሀሎ ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ አልአዛር ፡ ወልደ ፡ እኅወ ፡ አቡሁ ፡ ዘእምብሔረ ፡ አኬኪ ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ሀሎ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ሠለስቱ ፡ ጽኑዓን ።
After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.
11:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ הֽוּא ־הָיָ֨ה עִם ־דָּוִ֜יד בַּפַּ֣ס דַּמִּ֗ים וְהַפְּלִשְׁתִּים֙ נֶאֶסְפוּ ־שָׁ֣ם לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה וַתְּהִ֛י חֶלְקַ֥ת הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה מְלֵאָ֣ה שְׂעוֹרִ֑ים וְהָעָ֥ם נָ֖סוּ מִפְּנֵ֥י פְלִשְׁתִּֽים ׃
οὗτος ἦν μετὰ Δαυιδ ἐν Φασοδομιν καὶ οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι συνήχθησαν ἐκεῖ εἰς πόλεμον καὶ ἦν μερὶς τοῦ ἀγροῦ πλήρης κριθῶν καὶ ὁ λαὸς ἔφυγεν ἀπὸ προσώπου ἀλλοφύλων
Iste fuit cum David in Phesdomim , quando Philisthiim congregati sunt ad locum illum in praelium : et erat ager regionis illius plenus hordeo , fugeratque populus a facie Philisthinorum .
ወሀሎ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ በፋስዶሚስ ፡ አመ ፡ ተጋብኡ ፡ በህየ ፡ ኢሎፍሊ ፡ ለተቃትሎ ፡ ወሀለዋ ፡ መንፈቀ ፡ ገራውህ ፡ ምሉአተ ፡ ሰገም ።
He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where there was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.
11:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּֽתְיַצְּב֤וּ בְתוֹךְ ־הַֽחֶלְקָה֙ וַיַּצִּיל֔וּהָ וַיַּכּ֖וּ אֶת ־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וַיּ֥וֹשַׁע יְהֹוָ֖ה תְּשׁוּעָ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה ׃
καὶ ἔστη ἐν μέσῳ τῆς μερίδος καὶ ἔσωσεν αὐτὴν καὶ ἐπάταξεν τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους καὶ ἐποίησεν κύριος σωτηρίαν μεγάλην
Hi steterunt in medio agri , et defenderunt eum : cumque percussissent Philisthaeos , dedit Dominus salutem magnam populo suo .
ወጐዩ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጾሙ ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ ፡ ወቆሙ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ መክፈልት ፡ ወለይእቲ ፡ ብሔረ ፡ አድኃና ፡ ወቀተሎሙ ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ ፡ ወገብረ ፡ እግዚአብሄር ፡ መድኃኒተ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ በእደ ፡ ዳዊት ።
They stood in the middle of the plot, defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Yahweh saved them by a great victory.
11:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֵּרְד֡וּ שְֽׁלוֹשָׁה֩ מִן ־הַשְּׁלוֹשִׁ֨ים רֹ֤אשׁ עַל ־הַצֻּר֙ אֶל ־דָּוִ֔יד אֶל ־מְעָרַ֖ת עֲדֻלָּ֑ם וּמַחֲנֵ֣ה פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים חֹנָ֖ה בְּעֵ֥מֶק רְפָאִֽים ׃
καὶ κατέβησαν τρεῖς ἐκ τῶν τριάκοντα ἀρχόντων εἰς τὴν πέτραν πρὸς Δαυιδ εἰς τὸ σπήλαιον Οδολλαμ καὶ παρεμβολὴ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων παρεμβεβλήκει ἐν τῇ κοιλάδι τῶν γιγάντων
Descenderunt autem tres de triginta principibus ad petram , in qua erat David , ad speluncam Odollam , quando Philisthiim fuerant castrametati in valle Raphaim .
ወወረዱ ፡ ሠለስቱ ፡ ስሙያን ፡ እምሠላሳ ፡ መላእክት ፡ መንገለከ ፡ ኰኵሕ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ኀበ ፡ በዓተ ፡ ደወለ ፡ ኤዶላም ፡ ወትዕይንቶሙ ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ ፡ ሀለወ ፡ በፈለገ ፡ ሶርታማት ።
Three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the army of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
11:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְדָוִ֖יד אָ֣ז בַּמְּצוּדָ֑ה וּנְצִ֣יב פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים אָ֖ז בְּבֵ֥ית לָֽחֶם ׃
καὶ Δαυιδ τότε ἐν τῇ περιοχῇ καὶ τὸ σύστεμα τῶν ἀλλοφύλων τότε ἐν Βαιθλεεμ
Porro David erat in praesidio , et statio Philisthinorum in Bethlehem .
ወዳዊትስ ፡ አሜሃ ፡ ሀሎ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ፀወን ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ሠራዊቶሙ ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ልሔም ።
David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was in Bethlehem at that time.
11:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּתְאָ֥ו דָּוִ֖יד וַיֹּאמַ֑ר מִ֚י יַשְׁקֵ֣נִי מַ֔יִם מִבּ֥וֹר בֵּֽית ־לֶ֖חֶם אֲשֶׁ֥ר בַּשָּֽׁעַר ׃
καὶ ἐπεθύμησεν Δαυιδ καὶ εἶπεν τίς ποτιεῖ με ὕδωρ ἐκ τοῦ λάκκου Βαιθλεεμ τοῦ ἐν τῇ πύλῃ
Desideravit igitur David , et dixit : O si quis daret mihi aquam de cisterna Bethlehem , quae est in porta !
ወአፍተዎ ፡ ለዳዊት ፡ ወይቤ ፡ መኑ ፡ ያሰትየኒ ፡ ማየ ፡ እምዓዘቅተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ልሔም ፡ ዘማእከለ ፡ አንቀጽ ።
David longed, and said, “Oh, that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”
11:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּבְקְע֨וּ הַשְּׁלֹשָׁ֜ה בְּמַחֲנֵ֣ה פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים וַיִּֽשְׁאֲבוּ ־מַ֙יִם֙ מִבּ֤וֹר בֵּֽית ־לֶ֙חֶם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּשַּׁ֔עַר וַיִּשְׂא֖וּ וַיָּבִ֣אוּ אֶל ־דָּוִ֑יד וְלֹא ־אָבָ֤ה דָוִיד֙ לִשְׁתּוֹתָ֔ם וַיְנַסֵּ֥ךְ אֹתָ֖ם לַיהֹוָֽה ׃
καὶ διέρρηξαν οἱ τρεῖς τὴν παρεμβολὴν τῶν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ὑδρεύσαντο ὕδωρ ἐκ τοῦ λάκκου τοῦ ἐν Βαιθλεεμ ὃς ἦν ἐν τῇ πύλῃ καὶ ἔλαβον καὶ ἦλθον πρὸς Δαυιδ καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν Δαυιδ τοῦ πιεῖν αὐτὸ καὶ ἔσπεισεν αὐτὸ τῷ κυρίῳ
Tres ergo isti per media castra Philisthinorum perrexerunt , et hauserunt aquam de cisterna Bethlehem quae erat in porta , et attulerunt ad David ut biberet . Qui noluit , sed magis libavit illam Domino ,
ወሠጠጡ ፡ እልክቱ ፡ ስሙያን ፡ ሠለስቱ ፡ ጸናዕት ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ትዕይንቶሙ ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ ፡ ወቀድሑ ፡ ማየ ፡ እምዓዘቅተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ልሔም ፡ እንተ ፡ ሀለወት ፡ ውስተ ፡ አንቀጽ ፡ ወነሢኦሙ ፡ ማየ ፡ አምጽኡ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ወኢፈቀደ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ከመ ፡ ይስተይ ፡ ወነዝኆ ፡ ለእግዚአብሄር ።
The three broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, took it, and brought it to David; but David would not drink any of it, but poured it out to Yahweh,
11:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֡אמֶר חָלִ֩ילָה֩ לִּ֨י מֵאֱלֹהַ֜י מֵעֲשׂ֣וֹת זֹ֗את הֲדַ֣ם הָאֲנָשִׁים֩ הָאֵ֨לֶּה אֶשְׁתֶּ֤ה בְנַפְשׁוֹתָם֙ כִּ֣י בְנַפְשׁוֹתָ֣ם הֱבִיא֔וּם וְלֹ֥א אָבָ֖ה לִשְׁתּוֹתָ֑ם אֵ֣לֶּה עָשׂ֔וּ שְׁלֹ֖שֶׁת הַגִּבּוֹרִֽים ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ἵλεώς μοι ὁ θεὸς τοῦ ποιῆσαι τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο εἰ αἷμα ἀνδρῶν τούτων πίομαι ἐν ψυχαῖς αὐτῶν ὅτι ἐν ψυχαῖς αὐτῶν ἤνεγκαν αὐτό καὶ οὐκ ἐβούλετο πιεῖν αὐτό ταῦτα ἐποίησαν οἱ τρεῖς δυνατοί
dicens : Absit ut in conspectu Dei mei hoc faciam , et sanguinem istorum virorum bibam : quia in periculo animarum suarum attulerunt mihi aquam . Et ob hanc causam noluit bibere : haec fecerunt tres robustissimi .
ወይቤ ፡ ሐሰ ፡ ሊተ ፡ አምላኪየ ፡ ከመ ፡ እግበር ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ነገረ ፡ ወኢይሰቲ ፡ ደመ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ ዘቦቱ ፡ ወጽአት ፡ ነፍሶሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ ተሀቢሎሙ ፡ በነፍሶሙ ፡ አምጽእዎ ፡ ወኢፈቀደ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ከመ ፡ ይስተዮ ፡ ወዝንቱ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘገብሩ ፡ ሠለስቱ ፡ ኃያላኒሁ ፡ ለዳዊት ።
and said, “My God forbid me, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy?” For they risked their lives to bring it. Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.
11:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַבְשַׁ֣י אֲחִֽי ־יוֹאָ֗ב ה֤וּא הָיָה֙ רֹ֣אשׁ הַשְּׁלוֹשָׁ֔ה וְהוּא֙ עוֹרֵ֣ר אֶת ־חֲנִית֔וֹ עַל ־שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת חָלָ֑ל (ולא ) [וְלוֹ ־]שֵׁ֖ם בַּשְּׁלוֹשָֽׁה ׃
καὶ Αβεσσα ἀδελφὸς Ιωαβ οὗτος ἦν ἄρχων τῶν τριῶν οὗτος ἐσπάσατο τὴν ῥομφαίαν αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τριακοσίους τραυματίας ἐν καιρῷ ἑνί καὶ οὗτος ἦν ὀνομαστὸς ἐν τοῖς τρισίν
Abisai quoque frater Joab ipse erat princeps trium , et ipse levavit hastam suam contra trecentos vulneratos , et ipse erat inter tres nominatissimus ,
ወአቢሳ ፡ እኁሁ ፡ ለኢዮአብ ፡ ወእቱ ፡ መልአክ ፡ ሠለስቲሁሙ ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ መልሐ ፡ ሰይፈ ፡ በአሐቲ ፡ ሰዓት ፡ ወቀተሎሙ ፡ ለሠለስቱ ፡ ምእት ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ስሙይ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ሠለስቱ ፡ እሉ ፡ መላእክት ።
Abishai, the brother of Joab, was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three.
11:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ מִן ־הַשְּׁלוֹשָׁ֤ה בַשְּׁנַ֙יִם֙ נִכְבָּ֔ד וַיְהִ֥י לָהֶ֖ם לְשָׂ֑ר וְעַד ־הַשְּׁלוֹשָׁ֖ה לֹא ־בָֽא ׃ {ס}
ἀπὸ τῶν τριῶν ὑπὲρ τοὺς δύο ἔνδοξος καὶ ἦν αὐτοῖς εἰς ἄρχοντα καὶ ἕως τῶν τριῶν οὐκ ἤρχετο
et inter tres secundos inclytus , et princeps eorum : verumtamen usque ad tres primos non pervenerat .
ወኅሩይ ፡ ወጽኑዕ ፡ እምእልክቱ ፡ ካልአኒሁ ፡ ወኮኖሙ ፡ ርኡሰ ፡ ወመልአከ ፡ ወኢተፈልጠ ፡ እምኔሆሙ ።
Of the three, he was more honorable than the two, and was made their captain; however he wasn’t included in the three.
11:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ בְּנָיָ֨ה בֶן ־יְהוֹיָדָ֧ע בֶּן ־אִֽישׁ ־חַ֛יִל רַב ־פְּעָלִ֖ים מִֽן ־קַבְצְאֵ֑ל ה֣וּא הִכָּ֗ה אֵ֣ת שְׁנֵ֤י אֲרִיאֵל֙ מוֹאָ֔ב וְ֠ה֠וּא יָרַ֞ד וְהִכָּ֧ה אֶֽת ־הָאֲרִ֛י בְּת֥וֹךְ הַבּ֖וֹר בְּי֥וֹם הַשָּֽׁלֶג ׃
καὶ Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε υἱὸς ἀνδρὸς δυνατοῦ πολλὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ ὑπὲρ Καβασαηλ οὗτος ἐπάταξεν τοὺς δύο αριηλ Μωαβ καὶ οὗτος κατέβη καὶ ἐπάταξεν τὸν λέοντα ἐν τῷ λάκκῳ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ χιόνος
Banaias filius Jojadae viri robustissimi , qui multa opera perpetrarat , de Cabseel : ipse percussit duos ariel Moab , et ipse descendit et interfecit leonem in media cisterna tempore nivis .
ወብንያስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ኢዮዳኢ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ጽኑዕ ፡ ወብዙኅ ፡ ግብሩ ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ብንያስ ፡ ቀተሎሙ ፡ ለክልአቱ ፡ ደወለ ፡ ሞአብ ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ወረደ ፡ ወቀተለ ፡ አንበሳ ፡ በዐዘቅት ፡ በዕለተ ፡ በረድ ።
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day.
11:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהֽוּא ־הִכָּה֩ אֶת ־הָאִ֨ישׁ הַמִּצְרִ֜י אִ֥ישׁ מִדָּ֣ה ׀ חָמֵ֣שׁ בָּאַמָּ֗ה וּבְיַ֨ד הַמִּצְרִ֤י חֲנִית֙ כִּמְנ֣וֹר אֹֽרְגִ֔ים וַיֵּ֥רֶד אֵלָ֖יו בַּשָּׁ֑בֶט וַיִּגְזֹ֤ל אֶֽת ־הַחֲנִית֙ מִיַּ֣ד הַמִּצְרִ֔י וַיַּהַרְגֵ֖הוּ בַּחֲנִיתֽוֹ ׃
καὶ οὗτος ἐπάταξεν τὸν ἄνδρα τὸν Αἰγύπτιον ἄνδρα ὁρατὸν πεντάπηχυν καὶ ἐν χειρὶ τοῦ Αἰγυπτίου δόρυ ὡς ἀντίον ὑφαινόντων καὶ κατέβη ἐπ’ αὐτὸν Βαναιας ἐν ῥάβδῳ καὶ ἀφείλατο ἐκ τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ Αἰγυπτίου τὸ δόρυ καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ δόρατι αὐτοῦ
Et ipse percussit virum aegyptium , cujus statura erat quinque cubitorum , et habebat lanceam ut liciatorium texentium : descendit igitur ad eum cum virga , et rapuit hastam quam tenebat manu , et interfecit eum hasta sua .
ወውእቱ ፡ ቀተሎ ፡ ለግብፃዊ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ጽኑዕ ፡ ወዓቢይ ፡ በራእዩ ፡ ወኃምስ ፡ ቆሙ ፡ በእመት ፡ ወውስተ ፡ እዴሁ ፡ ለዝኩ ፡ ግብፃዊ ፡ ረምሕ ፡ በአምጣነ ፡ ሠርዌሆሙ ፡ ለአነምት ፡ ወወረደ ፡ ላዕሌሁ ፡ ብንያስ ፡ በበትር ፡ ወሰለበ ፡ ረምኀ ፡ እምእዴሁ ፡ ወቀተለ ፡ ቦቱ ።
He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high. In the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.
11:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ אֵ֣לֶּה עָשָׂ֔ה בְּנָיָ֖הוּ בֶּן ־יְהוֹיָדָ֑ע וְלוֹ ־שֵׁ֖ם בִּשְׁלוֹשָׁ֥ה הַגִּבֹּרִֽים ׃
ταῦτα ἐποίησεν Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε καὶ τούτῳ ὄνομα ἐν τοῖς τρισὶν τοῖς δυνατοῖς
Haec fecit Banaias filius Jojadae , qui erat inter tres robustos nominatissimus ,
ወዝንቱ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ግብሩ ፡ ለብንያስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ኢዮዳኢ ።
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things and had a name among the three mighty men.
11:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ מִן ־הַשְּׁלוֹשִׁ֗ים הִנּ֤וֹ נִכְבָּד֙ ה֔וּא וְאֶל ־הַשְּׁלֹשָׁ֖ה לֹא ־בָ֑א וַיְשִׂימֵ֥הוּ דָוִ֖יד עַל ־מִשְׁמַעְתּֽוֹ ׃ {ס}
ὑπὲρ τοὺς τριάκοντα ἔνδοξος οὗτος καὶ πρὸς τοὺς τρεῖς οὐκ ἤρχετο καὶ κατέστησεν αὐτὸν Δαυιδ ἐπὶ τὴν πατριὰν αὐτοῦ
inter triginta primus , verumtamen ad tres usque non pervenerat : posuit autem eum David ad auriculam suam .
ወስሙይ ፡ በሠለቱ ፡ ጸናዕት ፡ ፈድፋደ ፡ እምሠላሳ ፡ ጽኑዓን ፡ ወተባዕ ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ዘይከውን ፡ መጠነ ፡ እልክቱ ፡ ሠለስቱ ።
Behold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three; and David set him over his guard.
11:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְגִבּוֹרֵ֖י הַחֲיָלִ֑ים עֲשָׂהאֵל֙ אֲחִ֣י יוֹאָ֔ב {ס} אֶלְחָנָ֥ן בֶּן ־דּוֹד֖וֹ מִבֵּ֥ית לָֽחֶם ׃ {ס}
καὶ δυνατοὶ τῶν δυνάμεων Ασαηλ ἀδελφὸς Ιωαβ Ελεαναν υἱὸς Δωδω ἐκ Βαιθλαεμ
Porro fortissimi viri in exercitu , Asahel frater Joab , et Elchanan filius patrui ejus de Bethlehem ,
ወሤሞ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ብንያስ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ብሔሩ ፡ ወዲበ ፡ እልክቱ ፡ ጸናዕት ፡ ወኃያላነ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወእሳሄል ፡ እኁሁ ፡ ለኢዮአብ ፡ ወለኤልአናን ፡ ወልደ ፡ እኅወ ፡ አቡሁ ፡ ዘእምቤተልሔም ።
