7:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Περὶ δὲ ὧν ἐγράψατε , καλὸν ἀνθρώπῳ γυναικὸς μὴ ἅπτεσθαι ·
De quibus autem scripsistis mihi : Bonum est homini mulierem non tangere :
ወበእንተሰ ዘጸሐፍክሙ ሊተ ይኄይሶ ለብእሲ ኢቀሪበ አንስት ።
Now concerning the things about which you wrote to me: it is good for a man not to touch a woman.
7:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ διὰ δὲ τὰς πορνείας ἕκαστος τὴν ἑαυτοῦ γυναῖκα ἐχέτω , καὶ ἑκάστη τὸν ἴδιον ἄνδρα ἐχέτω .
propter fornicationem autem unusquisque suam uxorem habeat , et unaquaeque suum virum habeat .
ወከመሰ ኢትዘምዉ ኵሉ ብእሲ ይንበር በብእሲቱ ወኵላ ብእሲት ትንበር በምታ ።
But, because of sexual immoralities, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.
7:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ τῇ γυναικὶ ὁ ἀνὴρ τὴν ὀφειλὴν ἀποδιδότω , ὁμοίως δὲ καὶ ἡ γυνὴ τῷ ἀνδρί .
Uxori vir debitum reddat : similiter autem et uxor viro .
ለብእሲትኒ ዘበርቱዕ ይግበር ላቲ ምታ ወከማሁ ብእሲትኒ ለምታ ።
Let the husband give his wife the affection owed her, and likewise also the wife her husband.
7:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡ γυνὴ τοῦ ἰδίου σώματος οὐκ ἐξουσιάζει ἀλλὰ ὁ ἀνήρ · ὁμοίως δὲ καὶ ὁ ἀνὴρ τοῦ ἰδίου σώματος οὐκ ἐξουσιάζει ἀλλὰ ἡ γυνή .
Mulier sui corporis potestatem non habet , sed vir . Similiter autem et vir sui corporis potestatem non habet , sed mulier .
ብእሲትኒ ኢኮነት ብውሕተ ላዕለ ርእሳ ዘእንበለ ዳእሙ ለምታ ወከማሁ ብእሲኒ ኢኮነ ብውሐ ላዕለ ርእሱ ዘእንበለ ዳእሙ ለብእሲቱ ።
The wife doesn’t have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise also the husband doesn’t have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
7:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ μὴ ἀποστερεῖτε ἀλλήλους , εἰ μήτι ἂν ἐκ συμφώνου πρὸς καιρὸν ἵνα σχολάσητε τῇ προσευχῇ καὶ πάλιν ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ ἦτε , ἵνα μὴ πειράζῃ ὑμᾶς ὁ σατανᾶς διὰ τὴν ἀκρασίαν ὑμῶν .
Nolite fraudare invicem , nisi forte ex consensu ad tempus , ut vacetis orationi : et iterum revertimini in idipsum , ne tentet vos Satanas propter incontinentiam vestram .
ወኢትትጋኀሡ አሐዱ እምካልኡ ዘእንበለ ዳእሙ በዘተበዋሕክሙ በዕድሜሁ ከመ ታስተርክቡ ለጸሎትክሙ ወካዕበ ተሀልዉ ኅቡረ ከመ ኢይጽባእክሙ ሰይጣን እስመ ድኩም ቱስሕተ ነፍስትክሙ ።
Don’t deprive one another, unless it is by consent for a season, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer, and may be together again, that Satan doesn’t tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
7:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῦτο δὲ λέγω κατὰ συγγνώμην , οὐ κατ’ ἐπιταγήν .
Hoc autem dico secundum indulgentiam , non secundum imperium .
ወዘኒ ዘእብለክሙ አኮ ዘእኤዝዘክሙ ።
But this I say by way of concession, not of commandment.
7:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ θέλω δὲ πάντας ἀνθρώπους εἶναι ὡς καὶ ἐμαυτόν · ἀλλὰ ἕκαστος ἴδιον ἔχει χάρισμα ἐκ θεοῦ , ὁ μὲν οὕτως , ὁ δὲ οὕτως .
Volo enim omnes vos esse sicut meipsum : sed unusquisque proprium donum habet ex Deo : alius quidem sic , alius vero sic .
እስመ እፈቅድ ኵሉ ሰብእ ይኩን ከማየ ወባሕቱ ለኵሉ በዘእግዚአብሔር ጸገዎ የሀሉ ቦ ዘከመዝ ግዕዙ ወቦ ዘካልእ ግዕዙ ።
Yet I wish that all men were like me. However, each man has his own gift from God, one of this kind, and another of that kind.
7:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ Λέγω δὲ τοῖς ἀγάμοις καὶ ταῖς χήραις , καλὸν αὐτοῖς ἐὰν μείνωσιν ὡς κἀγώ ·
Dico autem non nuptis , et viduis : bonum est illis si sic permaneant , sicut et ego .
ወባሕቱ እብሎሙ ለእለ ኢያውሰቡ ወለመዓስብኒ ይኄይሶሙ ለእመ ነበሩ ከማየ ።
But I say to the unmarried and to widows, it is good for them if they remain even as I am.
7:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ δὲ οὐκ ἐγκρατεύονται γαμησάτωσαν · κρεῖττον γάρ ἐστιν γαμεῖν ἢ πυροῦσθαι .
Quod si non se continent , nubant . Melius est enim nubere , quam uri .
ወለእመሰ ኢይክሉ ተዐግሦ ለያውስቡ እስመ ይኄይስ አውስቦ እምዋዕይ በፍትወት ።
But if they don’t have self-control, let them marry. For it’s better to marry than to burn with passion.
7:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῖς δὲ γεγαμηκόσιν παραγγέλλω , οὐκ ἐγὼ ἀλλὰ ὁ κύριος , γυναῖκα ἀπὸ ἀνδρὸς μὴ χωρισθῆναι ,
Iis autem qui matrimonio juncti sunt , praecipio non ego , sed Dominus , uxorem a viro non discedere :
ወለእለሂ አውሰቡ እኤዝዞሙ በትእዛዘ እግዚአብሔር ወአኮ በትእዛዘ ርእስየ ብእሲትኒ ኢትትኃደግ ምስለ ምታ ።
But to the married I command—not I, but the Lord—that the wife not leave her husband
7:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐὰν δὲ καὶ χωρισθῇ , μενέτω ἄγαμος ἢ τῷ ἀνδρὶ καταλλαγήτω , καὶ ἄνδρα γυναῖκα μὴ ἀφιέναι .
quod si discesserit , manere innuptam , aut viro suo reconciliari . Et vir uxorem non dimittat .
ወእመኒ ተኀድገት ትንበርአ በከአ ወእመ አኮ ትትዓረቅ ምስለ ምታአ ወብእሲኒ ኢይኅድግ ብእሲቶ ።
(but if she departs, let her remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband not leave his wife.
7:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῖς δὲ λοιποῖς λέγω ἐγώ , οὐχ ὁ κύριος · εἴ τις ἀδελφὸς γυναῖκα ἔχει ἄπιστον , καὶ αὕτη συνευδοκεῖ οἰκεῖν μετ’ αὐτοῦ , μὴ ἀφιέτω αὐτήν ·
Nam ceteris ego dico , non Dominus . Si quis frater uxorem habet infidelem , et haec consentit habitare cum illo , non dimittat illam .
ወባዕደሰ እነግር ለልየ ወአኮ ዘእምኀበ እግዚእነ ለእመቦ እምአኀዊነ ዘቦ ብእሲት እንተ ኢተአምን ወታፈቅር ምታ ወትፈቅድ ትንበር ምስሌሁ ኢይኅድግ ብእሲቶ ።
But to the rest I—not the Lord—say, if any brother has an unbelieving wife, and she is content to live with him, let him not leave her.
7:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ γυνὴ εἴ τις ἔχει ἄνδρα ἄπιστον καὶ οὗτος συνευδοκεῖ οἰκεῖν μετ’ αὐτῆς , μὴ ἀφιέτω τὸν ἄνδρα .
Et si qua mulier fidelis habet virum infidelem , et hic consentit habitare cum illa , non dimittat virum :
ወእመኒ ብእሲት ባቲ ምት ዘኢየአምን ወያፈቅር ብእሲቶ ወይፈቅድ ይንበር ምስሌሃ ኢትኅድግ ምታ ።
The woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he is content to live with her, let her not leave her husband.
7:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡγίασται γὰρ ὁ ἀνὴρ ὁ ἄπιστος ἐν τῇ γυναικί , καὶ ἡγίασται ἡ γυνὴ ἡ ἄπιστος ἐν τῷ ἀδελφῷ · ἐπεὶ ἄρα τὰ τέκνα ὑμῶν ἀκάθαρτά ἐστιν , νῦν δὲ ἅγιά ἐστιν .
sanctificatus est enim vir infidelis per mulierem fidelem , et sanctificata est mulier infidelis per virum fidelem : alioquin filii vestri immundi essent , nunc autem sancti sunt .
እስመ ይትይቄደስ ብእሲኒ ዘኢየአምን በእንተ ብእሲቱ ወትትቄደስ ብእሲትኒ እንተ ኢተአምን በእንተ ምታ ወእመ አኮሰ ርኩሳነ ይከውኑ ውሉዶሙ ወይእዜሰ ቅዱሳን እሙንቱ ።
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in the husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.
7:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ δὲ ὁ ἄπιστος χωρίζεται , χωριζέσθω · οὐ δεδούλωται ὁ ἀδελφὸς ἢ ἡ ἀδελφὴ ἐν τοῖς τοιούτοις · ἐν δὲ εἰρήνῃ κέκληκεν ὑμᾶς ὁ θεός .
Quod si infidelis discedit , discedat : non enim servituti subjectus est frater , aut soror in hujusmodi : in pace autem vocavit nos Deus .
ወእመሰ ዘኢየአምን ይፈቅድ ይኅድግ ለይኅድግ እስመ እኁነ ወእኅትነ ኢይትቀነዩ ለዘከመዝ እስመ ጸውዖሙ እግዚአብሔር ለሰላም ።
Yet if the unbeliever departs, let there be separation. The brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us in peace.
7:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ τί γὰρ οἶδας , γύναι , εἰ τὸν ἄνδρα σώσεις ; ἢ τί οἶδας , ἄνερ , εἰ τὴν γυναῖκα σώσεις ;
Unde enim scis mulier , si virum salvum facies ? aut unde scis vir , si mulierem salvam facies ?
እስመ ኢተአምር ብእሲት ለእመ ታድኅኖ ለምታ ወኢየአምር ብእሲ ለእመ ያድኅና ለብእሲቱ ።
For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?
7:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ μὴ ἑκάστῳ ὡς μεμέρικεν ὁ κύριος , ἕκαστον ὡς κέκληκεν ὁ θεός , οὕτως περιπατείτω · καὶ οὕτως ἐν ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις πάσαις διατάσσομαι .
Nisi unicuique sicut divisit Dominus , unumquemque sicut vocavit Deus , ita ambulet , et sicut in omnibus ecclesiis doceo .
ወባሕቱ ኵሉ በከመ ከፈሎ እግዚአብሔር ወኵሉ በከመ ጸውዖ እግዚአብሔር ከማሁ የሀሉ ወከመዝ ንኤዝዝ ለኵሉ አብያተ ክርስቲያናት ።
Only, as the Lord has distributed to each man, as God has called each, so let him walk. So I command in all the assemblies.
7:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ περιτετμημένος τις ἐκλήθη ; μὴ ἐπισπάσθω . ἐν ἀκροβυστίᾳ κέκληταί τις ; μὴ περιτεμνέσθω .
Circumcisus aliquis vocatus est ? non adducat praeputium . In praeputio aliquis vocatus est ? non circumcidatur .
ለእመቦ ዘተጸውዐ እንዘ ግዙር ውእቱ ኢይንሣእ ቍልፈተ ወእመሰ ቈላፍ ተጸውዐ ኢይትገዘር እንከ ።
Was anyone called having been circumcised? Let him not become uncircumcised. Has anyone been called in uncircumcision? Let him not be circumcised.
7:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡ περιτομὴ οὐδέν ἐστιν , καὶ ἡ ἀκροβυστία οὐδέν ἐστιν , ἀλλὰ τήρησις ἐντολῶν θεοῦ .
Circumcisio nihil est , et praeputium nihil est : sed observatio mandatorum Dei .
ተገዝሮሂ ኢይበቍዕ ወኢተገዝሮሂ ኢያሰልጥ ዘእንበለ ዳእሙ ዐቂበ ትእዛዘ እግዚአብሔር ።
Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is keeping God’s commandments.
7:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἕκαστος ἐν τῇ κλήσει ᾗ ἐκλήθη ἐν ταύτῃ μενέτω .
Unusquisque in qua vocatione vocatus est , in ea permaneat .
ወኵሉ ዘከመ ተጸውዐ ከማሁ ለየሀሉ ።
Let each man stay in that calling in which he was called.
7:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ δοῦλος ἐκλήθης ; μή σοι μελέτω · ἀλλ’ εἰ καὶ δύνασαι ἐλεύθερος γενέσθαι , μᾶλλον χρῆσαι .
Servus vocatus es ? non sit tibi curae : sed et si potes fieri liber , magis utere .
ወእመኒ ገብር አንተ ወቦእከ ኢያኅዝንከ ወእመሰ ይትከሀለከ ንሣእ ግዕዛነከ ።
Were you called being a bondservant? Don’t let that bother you, but if you get an opportunity to become free, use it.
7:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ γὰρ ἐν κυρίῳ κληθεὶς δοῦλος ἀπελεύθερος κυρίου ἐστίν · ὁμοίως ὁ ἐλεύθερος κληθεὶς δοῦλός ἐστιν Χριστοῦ .
Qui enim in Domino vocatus est servus , libertus est Domini : similiter qui liber vocatus est , servus est Christi .
እስመ ገብር ዘተጸውዐ አግዓዛይ ውእቱ በኀበ እግዚአብሔር ወከማሁ አግዓዛይኒ ለእመ ተጸውዐ ገብረ ክርስቶስ ውእቱ ።
For he who was called in the Lord being a bondservant is the Lord’s free man. Likewise he who was called being free is Christ’s bondservant.
7:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ τιμῆς ἠγοράσθητε · μὴ γίνεσθε δοῦλοι ἀνθρώπων .
Pretio empti estis : nolite fieri servi hominum .
በሤጥ ተሣየጠክሙ ኢትኩኑ አግብርተ ሰብእ ።
You were bought with a price. Don’t become bondservants of men.
7:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἕκαστος ἐν ᾧ ἐκλήθη , ἀδελφοί , ἐν τούτῳ μενέτω παρὰ θεῷ .
Unusquisque in quo vocatus est , fratres , in hoc permaneat apud Deum .
ወኵልክሙ አኀዊነ በዘተጸዋዕክሙ ከማሁ ሀልዉ በእግዚአብሔር ።
Brothers, let each man, in whatever condition he was called, stay in that condition with God.
7:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ Περὶ δὲ τῶν παρθένων ἐπιταγὴν κυρίου οὐκ ἔχω , γνώμην δὲ δίδωμι ὡς ἠλεημένος ὑπὸ κυρίου πιστὸς εἶναι .
De virginibus autem praeceptum Domini non habeo : consilium autem do , tamquam misericordiam consecutus a Domino , ut sim fidelis .
ወእንበይነ ደናግልኒ ኢኮነ ትእዛዘ እግዚአብሔር ዘእብለክሙ ዳእሙ እነግረክሙ በምክርየ እምከመሰ ተሣሀለኒ እግዚአብሔር ከመ እኩን ምእመነ ።
Now concerning virgins, I have no commandment from the Lord, but I give my judgment as one who has obtained mercy from the Lord to be trustworthy.
7:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ νομίζω οὖν τοῦτο καλὸν ὑπάρχειν διὰ τὴν ἐνεστῶσαν ἀνάγκην , ὅτι καλὸν ἀνθρώπῳ τὸ οὕτως εἶναι .
Existimo ergo hoc bonum esse propter instantem necessitatem , quoniam bonum est homini sic esse .
ወባሕቱ ይመስለኒሰ ከመዝ እስመ ይኄይስ በግብር ይትፈቀድ ዝንቱ ይኄይሶ ለሰብእ ከመዝ የሀሉ ።
Therefore I think that because of the distress that is on us, it’s good for a man to remain as he is.
7:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ δέδεσαι γυναικί ; μὴ ζήτει λύσιν · λέλυσαι ἀπὸ γυναικός ; μὴ ζήτει γυναῖκα .
Alligatus es uxori ? noli quaerere solutionem . Solutus es ab uxore ? noli quaerere uxorem .
እምከመ ሀሎከ ምስለ ብእሲትከ ኢትፍቅድ ተኃድጎ ምስሌሃ ወእመሰ አልብከ ብእሲት ኢትፍቅድ አንስተ ወእመሰ አውሰብከ ኢጌገይከ ።
Are you bound to a wife? Don’t seek to be freed. Are you free from a wife? Don’t seek a wife.
7:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐὰν δὲ καὶ γαμήσῃς , οὐχ ἥμαρτες · καὶ ἐὰν γήμῃ ἡ παρθένος , οὐχ ἥμαρτεν . θλῖψιν δὲ τῇ σαρκὶ ἕξουσιν οἱ τοιοῦτοι , ἐγὼ δὲ ὑμῶν φείδομαι .
Si autem acceperis uxorem , non peccasti . Et si nupserit virgo , non peccavit : tribulationem tamen carnis habebunt hujusmodi . Ego autem vobis parco .
ወእመኒ አውሰበት ድንግል ብእሴ ኢይከውና ኀጢአተ እስመ እሙንቱ ከመዝ ወእለሰ አውሰቡ መቅሠፍተ ኀሠሡ ለርእሶሙ ወአንሰ እስመ እምሕከክሙ ዘእብለክሙ ዘኒ ።
But if you marry, you have not sinned. If a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Yet such will have oppression in the flesh, and I want to spare you.
7:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῦτο δέ φημι , ἀδελφοί , ὁ καιρὸς συνεσταλμένος ἐστίν · τὸ λοιπὸν ἵνα καὶ οἱ ἔχοντες γυναῖκας ὡς μὴ ἔχοντες ὦσιν ,
Hoc itaque dico , fratres : tempus breve est : reliquum est , ut et qui habent uxores , tamquam non habentes sint :
ወባሕቱ ከመዝ ይረትዕ አኀዊነ እስመ አልጸቀ ይኅልፍ ኵሉ ንብረተ ዝ ዓለም ወይእዜኒ እለኒ አውሰቡ ይከውኑ ከመ ዘኢያውሰቡ ።
But I say this, brothers: the time is short. From now on, both those who have wives may be as though they had none;
7:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ οἱ κλαίοντες ὡς μὴ κλαίοντες , καὶ οἱ χαίροντες ὡς μὴ χαίροντες , καὶ οἱ ἀγοράζοντες ὡς μὴ κατέχοντες ,
et qui flent , tamquam non flentes : et qui gaudent , tamquam non gaudentes : et qui emunt , tamquam non possidentes :
ወእለኒ ይበክዩ ከመ ዘኢበከዩ ወእለኒ ይትፌሥሑ ከመ ዘኢተፈሥሑ ወእለኒ ተደለዉ ከመ ዘኢተደለዉ ወእለኒ ይሣየጡ ከመ ዘኢተሣየጡ ወእለኒ ይመልኩ ከመ ዘኢመለኩ ።
and those who weep, as though they didn’t weep; and those who rejoice, as though they didn’t rejoice; and those who buy, as though they didn’t possess;
7:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ οἱ χρώμενοι τὸν κόσμον ὡς μὴ καταχρώμενοι · παράγει γὰρ τὸ σχῆμα τοῦ κόσμου τούτου .
et qui utuntur hoc mundo , tamquam non utantur : praeterit enim figura hujus mundi .
ወእለኒ ይበልዑ ከመ ዘኢበልዑ ወእለኒ ይሰትዩ ከመ ዘኢሰትዩ እስመ ኵሉ ተድላ ዝ ዓለም የኀልፍ ።
and those who use the world, as not using it to the fullest. For the mode of this world passes away.
7:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ θέλω δὲ ὑμᾶς ἀμερίμνους εἶναι . ὁ ἄγαμος μεριμνᾷ τὰ τοῦ κυρίου , πῶς ἀρέσῃ τῷ κυρίῳ ·
Volo autem vos sine sollicitudine esse . Qui sine uxore est , sollicitus est quae Domini sunt , quomodo placeat Deo .
አንሰ እፈቅድ ለክሙ ዘእንበለ ኀዘን ተሀልዉ እስመ ዘኢያውሰበ ይኄልዮ ለእግዚአብሔር በዘያሠምሮ ለእግዚአብሔር ።
But I desire to have you to be free from cares. He who is unmarried is concerned for the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord;
7:33 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ γαμήσας μεριμνᾷ τὰ τοῦ κόσμου , πῶς ἀρέσῃ τῇ γυναικί ,
Qui autem cum uxore est , sollicitus est quae sunt mundi , quomodo placeat uxori , et divisus est .
ወዘሰ አውሰበ ይኄሊ ንብረተ ዝንቱ ዓለም በዘያሠምራ ለብእሲቱ ።
but he who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife.
7:34 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ μεμέρισται . καὶ ἡ γυνὴ καὶ ἡ παρθένος ἡ ἄγαμος μεριμνᾷ τὰ τοῦ κυρίου , ἵνα ᾖ ἁγία καὶ τῷ σώματι καὶ τῷ πνεύματι · ἡ δὲ γαμήσασα μεριμνᾷ τὰ τοῦ κόσμου , πῶς ἀρέσῃ τῷ ἀνδρί .
Et mulier innupta , et virgo , cogitat quae Domini sunt , ut sit sancta corpore , et spiritu . Quae autem nupta est , cogitat quae sunt mundi , quomodo placeat viro .
ወባሕቱ ተናፈቀ ወብእሲትኒ መዓስብት ወድንግልኒ እንተ ኢያውሰበት ትኄልዮ ለእግዚአብሔር ከመ ይትቀደስ ሥጋሃኒ ወነፍሳኒ ወእንተሰ አውሰበት ትኄሊ ንብረተ ዝ ዓለም በዘታደሉ ለምታ ።
There is also a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world—how she may please her husband.
7:35 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῦτο δὲ πρὸς τὸ ὑμῶν αὐτῶν σύμφορον λέγω , οὐχ ἵνα βρόχον ὑμῖν ἐπιβάλω , ἀλλὰ πρὸς τὸ εὔσχημον καὶ εὐπάρεδρον τῷ κυρίῳ ἀπερισπάστως .
Porro hoc ad utilitatem vestram dico : non ut laqueum vobis injiciam , sed ad id , quod honestum est , et quod facultatem praebeat sine impedimento Dominum obsecrandi .
ወዘኒ ዘእብለክሙ በዘይበቍዐክሙ ወአኮ ከመ አሥግርክሙ ዳእሙ ከመ ዕሩየ ይኩን ንብረትክሙ ወትፀመድዎ ለእግዚአብሔር ዘእንበለ ኑፋቄ ።
This I say for your own benefit, not that I may ensnare you, but for that which is appropriate, and that you may attend to the Lord without distraction.
7:36 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ δέ τις ἀσχημονεῖν ἐπὶ τὴν παρθένον αὐτοῦ νομίζει ἐὰν ᾖ ὑπέρακμος , καὶ οὕτως ὀφείλει γίνεσθαι , ὃ θέλει ποιείτω · οὐχ ἁμαρτάνει · γαμείτωσαν .
Si quis autem turpem se videri existimat super virgine sua , quod sit superadulta , et ita oportet fieri : quod vult faciat : non peccat , si nubat .
ወእመሰ ቦ ዘይኄሊ ከመ ዘየኀፍር በእንተ ድንግልናሁ አመ ልህቀ ከመዝ ርቱዕ ይኩን ዘፈቀደ ይግበር ወአልቦ ኀጢአት ለእመ አውሰበ ።
But if any man thinks that he is behaving inappropriately toward his virgin, if she is past the flower of her age, and if need so requires, let him do what he desires. He doesn’t sin. Let them marry.
7:37 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὃς δὲ ἕστηκεν ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ ἑδραῖος , μὴ ἔχων ἀνάγκην , ἐξουσίαν δὲ ἔχει περὶ τοῦ ἰδίου θελήματος , καὶ τοῦτο κέκρικεν ἐν τῇ ἰδίᾳ καρδίᾳ , τηρεῖν τὴν ἑαυτοῦ παρθένον , καλῶς ποιήσει ·
Nam qui statuit in corde suo firmus , non habens necessitatem , potestatem autem habens suae voluntatis , et hoc judicavit in corde suo , servare virginem suam , bene facit .
ወዘሰ አጥብዐ በልቡ ወአልቦ ሁከት ብውሕ ሎቱ ዘፈቀደ ይግበር ወኢያገብርዎ ወእመኒ አጥብዐ ይዕቀብ ድንግልናሁ በልቡ ሠናየ ገብረ ።
But he who stands steadfast in his heart, having no urgency, but has power over his own will, and has determined in his own heart to keep his own virgin, does well.
7:38 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὥστε καὶ ὁ γαμίζων τὴν ἑαυτοῦ παρθένον καλῶς ποιεῖ , καὶ ὁ μὴ γαμίζων κρεῖσσον ποιήσει .
Igitur et qui matrimonio jungit virginem suam , bene facit : et qui non jungit , melius facit .
ወዘኒ አውሰበ ድንግለ ሠናየ ገብረ ወዘሰ ኢያውሰበ እንተ ትኄይስ ገብረ ።
So then both he who gives his own virgin in marriage does well, and he who doesn’t give her in marriage does better.
7:39 ⧉ ⤴︎ γυνὴ δέδεται ἐφ’ ὅσον χρόνον ζῇ ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς · ἐὰν δὲ κοιμηθῇ ὁ ἀνήρ , ἐλευθέρα ἐστὶν ᾧ θέλει γαμηθῆναι , μόνον ἐν κυρίῳ .
Mulier alligata est legi quanto tempore vir ejus vivit , quod si dormierit vir ejus , liberata est : cui vult nubat , tantum in Domino .
ብእሲትኒ እስርት ይእቲ አምጣነ ሕያው ምታ ወእመሰ ሞተ ምታ አግዓዛይት ይእቲ ዘፈቀደት ታውስብ ወባሕቱ እምእመናን በእግዚአብሔር ።
A wife is bound by law for as long as her husband lives; but if the husband is dead, she is free to be married to whomever she desires, only in the Lord.
7:40 ⧉ ⤴︎ μακαριωτέρα δέ ἐστιν ἐὰν οὕτως μείνῃ , κατὰ τὴν ἐμὴν γνώμην , δοκῶ δὲ κἀγὼ πνεῦμα θεοῦ ἔχειν .
Beatior autem erit si sic permanserit secundum meum consilium : puto autem quod et ego Spiritum Dei habeam .
ወእመሰ አጥብአት ለእግዚአብሔር ብፅዕት ይእቲ ለእመ ነበረት በምክርየ ወሊተሰ ይመስለኒ መንፈሰ እግዚአብሔር ብየ ።
But she is happier if she stays as she is, in my judgment, and I think that I also have God’s Spirit.
