22:1
וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ דָּוִד֙ מִשָּׁ֔ם וַיִּמָּלֵ֖ט אֶל־מְעָרַ֣ת עֲדֻלָּ֑ם וַיִּשְׁמְע֤וּ אֶחָיו֙ וְכׇל־בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֔יו וַיֵּרְד֥וּ אֵלָ֖יו שָֽׁמָּה׃
καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ἐκεῖθεν Δαυιδ καὶ διεσώθη καὶ ἔρχεται εἰς τὸ σπήλαιον τὸ Οδολλαμ καὶ ἀκούουσιν οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ὁ οἶκος τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ καταβαίνουσιν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐκεῖ
Abiit ergo David inde, et fugit in speluncam Odollam. Quod cum audissent fratres ejus, et omnis domus patris ejus, descenderunt ad eum illuc.
ወኀለፈ፡ እምህየ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወአምሰጠ፡ ወሖረ፡ ኀበ፡ በአት፡ ዘኤዶላም፡ ወሶበ፡ ሰምዑ፡ አኀዊሁ፡ ወሰብአ፡ ቤተ፡ አቡሁ፡ ወረዱ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ ህየ።
David therefore departed from there and escaped to Adullam’s cave. When his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him.
22:2
וַיִּֽתְקַבְּצ֣וּ אֵ֠לָ֠יו כׇּל־אִ֨ישׁ מָצ֜וֹק וְכׇל־אִ֨ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־ל֤וֹ נֹשֶׁא֙ וְכׇל־אִ֣ישׁ מַר־נֶ֔פֶשׁ וַיְהִ֥י עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם לְשָׂ֑ר וַיִּהְי֣וּ עִמּ֔וֹ כְּאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת אִֽישׁ׃
καὶ συνήγοντο πρὸς αὐτὸν πᾶς ἐν ἀνάγκῃ καὶ πᾶς ὑπόχρεως καὶ πᾶς κατώδυνος ψυχῇ καὶ ἦν ἐπ’ αὐτῶν ἡγούμενος καὶ ἦσαν μετ’ αὐτοῦ ὡς τετρακόσιοι ἄνδρες
Et convenerunt ad eum omnes qui erant in angustia constituti, et oppressi aere alieno, et amaro animo : et factus est eorum princeps, fueruntque cum eo quasi quadringenti viri.
ወአስተጋብአ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ ኵሎ፡ ምንዱበ፡ ወኵሎ፡ ዘይፈዲ፡ ዕዳሁ፡ ወኵሎ፡ ሕዙነ፡ መንፈስ፡ ወሜምዎ፡ መስፍነ፡ ሳዕሌሆሙ፡ ወሀለዉ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ አርባዕቱ፡ ምእት፡ ብእሲ።
Everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered themselves to him; and he became captain over them. There were with him about four hundred men.
22:3
וַיֵּ֧לֶךְ דָּוִ֛ד מִשָּׁ֖ם מִצְפֵּ֣ה מוֹאָ֑ב וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ אֶל־מֶ֣לֶךְ מוֹאָ֗ב יֵֽצֵא־נָ֞א אָבִ֤י וְאִמִּי֙ אִתְּכֶ֔ם עַ֚ד אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֵדַ֔ע מַה־יַּעֲשֶׂה־לִּ֖י אֱלֹהִֽים׃
καὶ ἀπῆλθεν Δαυιδ ἐκεῖθεν εἰς Μασσηφα τῆς Μωαβ καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς βασιλέα Μωαβ γινέσθωσαν δὴ ὁ πατήρ μου καὶ ἡ μήτηρ μου παρὰ σοί ἕως ὅτου γνῶ τί ποιήσει μοι ὁ θεός
Et profectus est David inde in Maspha, quae est Moab : et dixit ad regem Moab : Maneat, oro, pater meus et mater mea vobiscum, donec sciam quid faciat mihi Deus.
ወሖረ፡ ዳዊት፡ እምህየ፡ ውስተ፡ መሴፋ፡ ዘሞአብ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ለንጉሠ፡ ሞአብ፡ ኀቤከ፡ ይንበሩ፡ አቡየ፡ ወእምየ፡ እስከ፡ አመ፡ እሬኢ፡ ዘከመ፡ ይገብር፡ እግዚአብሔር።
David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and my mother come out to you, until I know what God will do for me.”
22:4
וַיַּנְחֵ֕ם אֶת־פְּנֵ֖י מֶ֣לֶךְ מוֹאָ֑ב וַיֵּשְׁב֣וּ עִמּ֔וֹ כׇּל־יְמֵ֥י הֱיוֹת־דָּוִ֖ד בַּמְּצוּדָֽה׃ {ס}
καὶ παρεκάλεσεν τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ βασιλέως Μωαβ καὶ κατῴκουν μετ’ αὐτοῦ πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας ὄντος τοῦ Δαυιδ ἐν τῇ περιοχῇ
Et reliquit eos ante faciem regis Moab : manseruntque apud eum cunctis diebus quibus David fuit in praesidio.
ወአስተብቍዖ፡ ለንጉሠ፡ ሞአብ፡ ወነበሩ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ኵሎ፡ መዋዕለ፡ ዘሀሎ፡ ዳዊት፡ ውስተ፡ ቅጽር።
He brought them before the king of Moab; and they lived with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.
22:5
וַיֹּ֩אמֶר֩ גָּ֨ד הַנָּבִ֜יא אֶל־דָּוִ֗ד לֹ֤א תֵשֵׁב֙ בַּמְּצוּדָ֔ה לֵ֥ךְ וּבָֽאתָ־לְּךָ֖ אֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֔ד וַיָּבֹ֖א יַ֥עַר חָֽרֶת׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπεν Γαδ ὁ προφήτης πρὸς Δαυιδ μὴ κάθου ἐν τῇ περιοχῇ πορεύου καὶ ἥξεις εἰς γῆν Ιουδα καὶ ἐπορεύθη Δαυιδ καὶ ἦλθεν καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐν πόλει Σαριχ
Dixitque Gad propheta ad David : Noli manere in praesidio : proficiscere, et vade in terram Juda. Et profectus est David, et venit in saltum Haret.
ወይቤሎ፡ ጋድ፡ ነቢይ፡ ለዳዊት፡ ኢትንበር፡ ውስተ፡ ቅጽር፡ ሖር፡ ወባእ፡ ውስተ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ወሖረ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወበጽሐ፡ ወነበረ፡ ውስተ፡ ሀገረ፡ ሰሬሕ።
The prophet Gad said to David, “Don’t stay in the stronghold. Depart, and go into the land of Judah.” Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hereth.
22:6
וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע שָׁא֔וּל כִּ֚י נוֹדַ֣ע דָּוִ֔ד וַאֲנָשִׁ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתּ֑וֹ וְשָׁאוּל֩ יוֹשֵׁ֨ב בַּגִּבְעָ֜ה תַּֽחַת־הָאֶ֤שֶׁל בָּֽרָמָה֙ וַחֲנִית֣וֹ בְיָד֔וֹ וְכׇל־עֲבָדָ֖יו נִצָּבִ֥ים עָלָֽיו׃
καὶ ἤκουσεν Σαουλ ὅτι ἔγνωσται Δαυιδ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ Σαουλ ἐκάθητο ἐν τῷ βουνῷ ὑπὸ τὴν ἄρουραν τὴν ἐν Ραμα καὶ τὸ δόρυ ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντες οἱ παῖδες αὐτοῦ παρειστήκεισαν αὐτῷ
Et audivit Saul quod apparuisset David, et viri qui erant cum eo. Saul autem cum maneret in Gabaa, et esset in nemore quod est in Rama, hastam manu tenens, cunctique servi ejus circumstarent eum,
ወሰምዐ፡ ሳኦል፡ ከመ፡ ተሰምዐ፡ ኀበ፡ ሀሎ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወሰብእ፡ እለ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ወሳኦልኒ፡ ሀሎ፡ ይኑበር፡ ውስተ፡ ወግር፡ ኀበ፡ ዐጸደ፡ ወፍር፡ ዘባማ፡ ወኲናት፡ ውስተ፡ እዴሁ፡ ወኵሎሙ፡ ደቁ፡ ይቀውሙ፡ ምስሌሁ።
Saul heard that David was discovered, with the men who were with him. Now Saul was sitting in Gibeah, under the tamarisk tree in Ramah, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing around him.
22:7
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֗וּל לַֽעֲבָדָיו֙ הַנִּצָּבִ֣ים עָלָ֔יו שִׁמְעוּ־נָ֖א בְּנֵ֣י יְמִינִ֑י גַּם־לְכֻלְּכֶ֗ם יִתֵּ֤ן בֶּן־יִשַׁי֙ שָׂד֣וֹת וּכְרָמִ֔ים לְכֻלְּכֶ֣ם יָשִׂ֔ים שָׂרֵ֥י אֲלָפִ֖ים וְשָׂרֵ֥י מֵאֽוֹת׃
καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ πρὸς τοὺς παῖδας αὐτοῦ τοὺς παρεστηκότας αὐτῷ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ἀκούσατε δή υἱοὶ Βενιαμιν εἰ ἀληθῶς πᾶσιν ὑμῖν δώσει ὁ υἱὸς Ιεσσαι ἀγροὺς καὶ ἀμπελῶνας καὶ πάντας ὑμᾶς τάξει ἑκατοντάρχους καὶ χιλιάρχους
ait ad servos suos qui assistebant ei : Audite nunc, filii Jemini : numquid omnibus vobis dabit filius Isai agros et vineas, et universos vos faciet tribunos et centuriones ?
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ሳኦል፡ ለደቁ፡ እለ፡ ይቀውሙ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ስምሁ፡ ቤተ፡ ብንያም፡ እሙነኑ፡ ይሁበክሙ፡ ለኵልክሙ፡ ወልደ፡ እሴይ፡ አዕጸደ፡ ወፍር፡ ወአዕጸደ፡ ወይን፡ ወይሠይመክሙ፡ መላእክተ፡ ወመሳፍንተ ፤
Saul said to his servants who stood around him, “Hear now, you Benjamites! Will the son of Jesse give everyone of you fields and vineyards? Will he make you all captains of thousands and captains of hundreds?
22:8
כִּי֩ קְשַׁרְתֶּ֨ם כֻּלְּכֶ֜ם עָלַ֗י וְאֵין־גֹּלֶ֤ה אֶת־אׇזְנִי֙ בִּכְרׇת־בְּנִ֣י עִם־בֶּן־יִשַׁ֔י וְאֵין־חֹלֶ֥ה מִכֶּ֛ם עָלַ֖י וְגֹלֶ֣ה אֶת־אׇזְנִ֑י כִּ֣י הֵקִים֩ בְּנִ֨י אֶת־עַבְדִּ֥י עָלַ֛י לְאֹרֵ֖ב כַּיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃ {ס}
ὅτι σύγκεισθε πάντες ὑμεῖς ἐπ’ ἐμέ καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ ἀποκαλύπτων τὸ ὠτίον μου ἐν τῷ διαθέσθαι τὸν υἱόν μου διαθήκην μετὰ τοῦ υἱοῦ Ιεσσαι καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν πονῶν περὶ ἐμοῦ ἐξ ὑμῶν καὶ ἀποκαλύπτων τὸ ὠτίον μου ὅτι ἐπήγειρεν ὁ υἱός μου τὸν δοῦλόν μου ἐπ’ ἐμὲ εἰς ἐχθρὸν ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη
quoniam conjurastis omnes adversum me, et non est qui mihi renuntiet, maxime cum et filius meus foedus inierit cum filio Isai. Non est qui vicem meam doleat ex vobis, nec qui annuntiet mihi : eo quod suscitaverit filius meus servum meum adversum me, insidiantem mihi usque hodie.
ከመ፡ ትኅበሩ፡ ላዕሌየ፡ ኵልክሙ፡ ወአልቦ፡ እምኔክሙ፡ ዘያየድዐኒ፡ ከመ፡ ተማሐለ፡ ወልድየ፡ ምስለ፡ ወልደ፡ እሴይ፡ ወአልቦ፡ እምውስቴትክሙ፡ ዘየሐምመኒ፡ ወዘይነግረኒ፡ ከመ፡ አቀሞ፡ ወልድየ፡ ለገብርየ፡ ላዕሌየ፡ ፀርየ፡ እስከ፡ ዛቲ፡ ዕለት።
Is that why all of you have conspired against me, and there is no one who discloses to me when my son makes a treaty with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you who is sorry for me, or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as it is today?”
22:9
וַיַּ֜עַן דֹּאֵ֣ג הָאֲדֹמִ֗י וְה֛וּא נִצָּ֥ב עַל־עַבְדֵֽי־שָׁא֖וּל וַיֹּאמַ֑ר רָאִ֙יתִי֙ אֶת־בֶּן־יִשַׁ֔י בָּ֣א נֹ֔בֶה אֶל־אֲחִימֶ֖לֶךְ בֶּן־אֲחִטֽוּב׃
καὶ ἀποκρίνεται Δωηκ ὁ Σύρος ὁ καθεστηκὼς ἐπὶ τὰς ἡμιόνους Σαουλ καὶ εἶπεν ἑόρακα τὸν υἱὸν Ιεσσαι παραγινόμενον εἰς Νομβα πρὸς Αβιμελεχ υἱὸν Αχιτωβ τὸν ἱερέα
Respondens autem Doëg Idumaeus, qui assistebat, et erat primus inter servos Saul : Vidi, inquit, filium Isai in Nobe apud Achimelech filium Achitob sacerdotem.
ወአውሥአ፡ ዶይቅ፡ ሶርያዊ፡ ኖላዌ፡ አብቅሊሁ፡ ለሳኦል፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ርኢክዎ፡ ለወልደ፡ እሴይ፡ መጽአ፡ ውስተ፡ ኖምባ፡ ኀበ፡ አኪሜሌክ፡ ወልደ፡ አኪጦብ፡ ካህን።
Then Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul, answered and said, “I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
22:10
וַיִּשְׁאַל־לוֹ֙ בַּֽיהֹוָ֔ה וְצֵידָ֖ה נָ֣תַן ל֑וֹ וְאֵ֗ת חֶ֛רֶב גׇּלְיָ֥ת הַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖י נָ֥תַן לֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἠρώτα αὐτῷ διὰ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἐπισιτισμὸν ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ καὶ τὴν ῥομφαίαν Γολιαδ τοῦ ἀλλοφύλου ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ
Qui consuluit pro eo Dominum, et cibaria dedit ei : sed et gladium Goliath Philisthaei dedit illi.
ወተስእሎ፡ በእንተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወስንቆኒ፡ ወሀቦ፡ ወሰይፎ፡ ለጎልያድ፡ ኢሎፍላዊ፡ ወሀቦ።
He inquired of Yahweh for him, gave him food, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”
22:11
וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח הַמֶּ֡לֶךְ לִקְרֹא֩ אֶת־אֲחִימֶ֨לֶךְ בֶּן־אֲחִיט֜וּב הַכֹּהֵ֗ן וְאֵ֨ת כׇּל־בֵּ֥ית אָבִ֛יו הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּנֹ֑ב וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ כֻלָּ֖ם אֶל־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ {ס}
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς καλέσαι τὸν Αβιμελεχ υἱὸν Αχιτωβ καὶ πάντας τοὺς υἱοὺς τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ τοὺς ἱερεῖς τοὺς ἐν Νομβα καὶ παρεγένοντο πάντες πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα
Misit ergo rex ad accersendum Achimelech sacerdotem filium Achitob, et omnem domum patris ejus, sacerdotum qui erant in Nobe, qui universi venerunt ad regem.
ወለአከ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ይጸውዕዎ፡ ለአኪሜሌክ፡ ወልደ፡ አኪጦብ፡ ወለኵሎሙ፡ ደቂቀ፡ አቡሁ፡ ካህናት፡ እለ፡ ውስተ፡ ኖምባ፡ ወመጽኡ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ኀበ፡ ንጉሥ።
Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests who were in Nob; and they all came to the king.
22:12
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֔וּל שְֽׁמַֽע־נָ֖א בֶּן־אֲחִיט֑וּב וַיֹּ֖אמֶר הִנְנִ֥י אֲדֹנִֽי׃
καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ ἄκουε δή υἱὲ Αχιτωβ καὶ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ ἐγώ λάλει κύριε
Et ait Saul ad Achimelech : Audi, fili Achitob. Qui respondit : Praesto sum, domine.
ወይቤሎ፡ ሳኦል፡ ስማዕ፡ ወልደ፡ አኪጦብ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ በል፡ እግዚእየ።
Saul said, “Hear now, you son of Ahitub.” He answered, “Here I am, my lord.”
22:13
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָו֙ שָׁא֔וּל לָ֚מָּה קְשַׁרְתֶּ֣ם עָלַ֔י אַתָּ֖ה וּבֶן־יִשָׁ֑י בְּתִתְּךָ֨ ל֜וֹ לֶ֣חֶם וְחֶ֗רֶב וְשָׁא֥וֹל לוֹ֙ בֵּֽאלֹהִ֔ים לָק֥וּם אֵלַ֛י לְאֹרֵ֖ב כַּיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Σαουλ ἵνα τί συνέθου κατ’ ἐμοῦ σὺ καὶ ὁ υἱὸς Ιεσσαι δοῦναί σε αὐτῷ ἄρτον καὶ ῥομφαίαν καὶ ἐρωτᾶν αὐτῷ διὰ τοῦ θεοῦ θέσθαι αὐτὸν ἐπ’ ἐμὲ εἰς ἐχθρὸν ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη
Dixitque ad eum Saul : Quare conjurastis adversum me, tu et filius Isai, et dedisti ei panes et gladium, et consuluisti pro eo Deum, ut consurgeret adversum me, insidiator usque hodie permanens ?
ወይቤሎ፡ ሳኦል፡ ለምንት፡ ኀበርከ፡ ማዕሌተ፡ ላዕሌየ፡ አንተኒ፡ ምስለ፡ ወልደ፡ እሴይ፡ ከመ፡ ተሀቦ፡ ሰይፈ፡ ወኅብስተ፡ ወትስአል፡ ሎቱ፡ ቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወረሰይክምዎ፡ ቀታሌየ፡ እስከ፡ ዮም።
Saul said to him, “Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread, and a sword, and have inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as it is today?”
22:14
וַיַּ֧עַן אֲחִימֶ֛לֶךְ אֶת־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר וּמִ֤י בְכׇל־עֲבָדֶ֙יךָ֙ כְּדָוִ֣ד נֶאֱמָ֔ן וַחֲתַ֥ן הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ וְסָ֥ר אֶל־מִשְׁמַעְתֶּ֖ךָ וְנִכְבָּ֥ד בְּבֵיתֶֽךָ׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ εἶπεν καὶ τίς ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς δούλοις σου ὡς Δαυιδ πιστὸς καὶ γαμβρὸς τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἄρχων παντὸς παραγγέλματός σου καὶ ἔνδοξος ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου
Respondensque Achimelech regi, ait : Et quis in omnibus servis tuis sicut David, fidelis, et gener regis, et pergens ad imperium tuum, et gloriosus in domo tua ?
ወአውሥአ፡ አሊሜሌክ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ መኑ፡ እምውስተ፡ አግብርቲከ፡ ከመ፡ ዳዊት፡ መሃይምን፡ ወሐሙሁ፡ ውእቱ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ወመልአከ፡ ኵሉ፡ ትእዛዝከ፡ ወክቡር፡ በውስተ፡ ቤትከ።
Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, “Who among all your servants is so faithful as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, captain of your body guard, and honored in your house?
22:15
הַיּ֧וֹם הַחִלֹּ֛תִי (לשאול) [לִשְׁאׇל־]ל֥וֹ בֵאלֹהִ֖ים חָלִ֣ילָה לִּ֑י אַל־יָשֵׂם֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ בְּעַבְדּ֤וֹ דָבָר֙ בְּכׇל־בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֔י כִּ֠י לֹֽא־יָדַ֤ע עַבְדְּךָ֙ בְּכׇל־זֹ֔את דָּבָ֥ר קָטֹ֖ן א֥וֹ גָדֽוֹל׃
ἦ σήμερον ἦργμαι ἐρωτᾶν αὐτῷ διὰ τοῦ θεοῦ μηδαμῶς μὴ δότω ὁ βασιλεὺς κατὰ τοῦ δούλου αὐτοῦ λόγον καὶ ἐφ’ ὅλον τὸν οἶκον τοῦ πατρός μου ὅτι οὐκ ᾔδει ὁ δοῦλος ὁ σὸς ἐν πᾶσιν τούτοις ῥῆμα μικρὸν ἢ μέγα
num hodie coepi pro eo consulere Deum ? absit hoc a me : ne suspicetur rex adversus servum suum rem hujuscemodi, in universa domo patris mei : non enim scivit servus tuus quidquam super hoc negotio, vel modicum vel grande.
ዮም፡ አእኅዝ፡ እስአል፡ ሎቱ፡ ቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፤ ሐሰ ፤ ኢይረሲ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ላዕለ፡ ገብሩ፡ ዘንተ፡ ነገረ፡ ወላዕለ፡ ኵሉ፡ ቤተ፡ አቡሁ፡ እስመ፡ ኢያእመረ፡ ገብርከ፡ ዘንተ፡ ኵሎ፡ ነገረ፡ ኢንኡሰ፡ ወኢዐቢየ።
Have I today begun to inquire of God for him? Be it far from me! Don’t let the king impute anything to his servant, nor to all the house of my father; for your servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.”
22:16
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ מ֥וֹת תָּמ֖וּת אֲחִימֶ֑לֶךְ אַתָּ֖ה וְכׇל־בֵּ֥ית אָבִֽיךָ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Σαουλ θανάτῳ ἀποθανῇ Αβιμελεχ σὺ καὶ πᾶς ὁ οἶκος τοῦ πατρός σου
Dixitque rex : Morte morieris Achimelech, tu et omnis domus patris tui.
ወይቤ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ሳኦል፡ አኪሜሌክ፡ ሞተ፡ ትመውት፡ አንተ፡ ወኵሉ፡ ቤተ፡ አቡከ።
The king said, “You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father’s house.”
22:17
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֡לֶךְ לָרָצִים֩ הַנִּצָּבִ֨ים עָלָ֜יו סֹ֥בּוּ וְהָמִ֣יתוּ׀ כֹּהֲנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֗ה כִּ֤י גַם־יָדָם֙ עִם־דָּוִ֔ד וְכִ֤י יָֽדְעוּ֙ כִּֽי־בֹרֵ֣חַֽ ה֔וּא וְלֹ֥א גָל֖וּ אֶת־[אׇזְנִ֑י] (אזנו) וְלֹֽא־אָב֞וּ עַבְדֵ֤י הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ לִשְׁלֹ֣חַ אֶת־יָדָ֔ם לִפְגֹ֖עַ בְּכֹהֲנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τοῖς παρατρέχουσιν τοῖς ἐφεστηκόσιν ἐπ’ αὐτόν προσαγάγετε καὶ θανατοῦτε τοὺς ἱερεῖς τοῦ κυρίου ὅτι ἡ χεὶρ αὐτῶν μετὰ Δαυιδ καὶ ὅτι ἔγνωσαν ὅτι φεύγει αὐτός καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκάλυψαν τὸ ὠτίον μου καὶ οὐκ ἐβουλήθησαν οἱ παῖδες τοῦ βασιλέως ἐπενεγκεῖν τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῶν ἀπαντῆσαι εἰς τοὺς ἱερεῖς κυρίου
Et ait rex emissariis qui circumstabant eum : Convertimini, et interficite sacerdotes Domini, nam manus eorum cum David est : scientes quod fugisset, et non indicaverunt mihi. Noluerunt autem servi regis extendere manus suas in sacerdotes Domini.
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ለእለ፡ ይቀውሙ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ አምጽእዎሙ፡ ወቅትልዎሙ፡ ለካህናተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ እስመ፡ ኀብሩ፡ ምስለ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወ[ያአ]ምሩ፡ ከመ፡ ኅጡእ፡ ውእቱ፡ ወኢይነግሩኒ፡ ወኢፈቀዱ፡ ደቀ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ያልዕሉ፡ እዴሆሙ፡ ወየአብሱ፡ ላዕለ፡ ካህናተ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
The king said to the guard who stood about him, “Turn and kill the priests of Yahweh, because their hand also is with David, and because they knew that he fled and didn’t disclose it to me.” But the servants of the king wouldn’t put out their hand to fall on the priests of Yahweh.
22:18
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ (לדויג) [לְדוֹאֵ֔ג] סֹ֣ב אַתָּ֔ה וּפְגַ֖ע בַּכֹּהֲנִ֑ים וַיִּסֹּ֞ב (דויג) [דּוֹאֵ֣ג] הָאֲדֹמִ֗י וַיִּפְגַּע־הוּא֙ בַּכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים וַיָּ֣מֶת׀ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא שְׁמֹנִ֤ים וַֽחֲמִשָּׁה֙ אִ֔ישׁ נֹשֵׂ֖א אֵפ֥וֹד בָּֽד׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τῷ Δωηκ ἐπιστρέφου σὺ καὶ ἀπάντα εἰς τοὺς ἱερεῖς καὶ ἐπεστράφη Δωηκ ὁ Σύρος καὶ ἐθανάτωσεν τοὺς ἱερεῖς κυρίου ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ τριακοσίους καὶ πέντε ἄνδρας πάντας αἴροντας εφουδ
Et ait rex ad Doëg : Convertere tu, et irrue in sacerdotes. Conversusque Doëg Idumaeus, irruit in sacerdotes, et trucidavit in die illa octoginta quinque viros vestitos ephod lineo.
ወይቤሎ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ለዶይቅ፡ ነዓ፡ አንተ፡ ወቅትሎሙ፡ ለካህናት፡ ወመጽአ፡ ዶይቅ፡ ሶርያዊ፡ ወቀተሎሙ፡ ለካህናተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ በይእቲ፡ ዕለት፡ ፫፻ብእሴ፡ ወኀምስቱ፡ ወኵሎሙ፡ እለ፡ ይጸውሩ፡ ኤፉደ።
The king said to Doeg, “Turn and attack the priests!” Doeg the Edomite turned, and he attacked the priests, and he killed on that day eighty-five people who wore a linen ephod.
22:19
וְאֵ֨ת נֹ֤ב עִיר־הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ הִכָּ֣ה לְפִי־חֶ֔רֶב מֵאִישׁ֙ וְעַד־אִשָּׁ֔ה מֵֽעוֹלֵ֖ל וְעַד־יוֹנֵ֑ק וְשׁ֧וֹר וַחֲמ֛וֹר וָשֶׂ֖ה לְפִי־חָֽרֶב׃
καὶ τὴν Νομβα τὴν πόλιν τῶν ἱερέων ἐπάταξεν ἐν στόματι ῥομφαίας ἀπὸ ἀνδρὸς ἕως γυναικός ἀπὸ νηπίου ἕως θηλάζοντος καὶ μόσχου καὶ ὄνου καὶ προβάτου
Nobe autem civitatem sacerdotum percussit in ore gladii, viros et mulieres, et parvulos et lactentes, bovemque, et asinum, et ovem in ore gladii.
ወኖባማሂ፡ ሀገሮሙ፡ ለካህናት፡ ቀተለ፡ በአፈ፡ ኵናት፡ ዕደዊሆሙ፡ ወአንስቲያሆሙ፡ ወደቂቆሙ፡ ወሕፃናቲሆሙ፡ ወላህሞሙ፡ ወአድጎሙ፡ ወበግዖሙ።
He struck Nob, the city of the priests, with the edge of the sword—both men and women, children and nursing babies, and cattle, donkeys, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
22:20
וַיִּמָּלֵ֣ט בֵּן־אֶחָ֗ד לַאֲחִימֶ֙לֶךְ֙ בֶּן־אֲחִט֔וּב וּשְׁמ֖וֹ אֶבְיָתָ֑ר וַיִּבְרַ֖ח אַחֲרֵ֥י דָוִֽד׃
καὶ διασῴζεται υἱὸς εἷς τῷ Αβιμελεχ υἱῷ Αχιτωβ καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῷ Αβιαθαρ καὶ ἔφυγεν ὀπίσω Δαυιδ
Evadens autem unus filius Achimelech filii Achitob, cujus nomen erat Abiathar, fugit ad David,
ወአምሰጠ፡ አሐዱ፡ ወልደ፡ አኪሜሌክ፡ ወልደ፡ አኪጦብ፡ ወስሙ፡ አብያታር፡ ወአምሰጠ፡ ወተለዎ፡ ለዳዊት።
One of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.
22:21
וַיַּגֵּ֥ד אֶבְיָתָ֖ר לְדָוִ֑ד כִּ֚י הָרַ֣ג שָׁא֔וּל אֵ֖ת כֹּהֲנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν Αβιαθαρ τῷ Δαυιδ ὅτι ἐθανάτωσεν Σαουλ πάντας τοὺς ἱερεῖς τοῦ κυρίου
et annuntiavit ei quod occidisset Saul sacerdotes Domini.
ወአይድዖ፡ አብያታር፡ ለዳዊት፡ ከመ፡ ቀተሎሙ፡ ሳኦል፡ ለካህናተ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
Abiathar told David that Saul had slain Yahweh’s priests.
22:22
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜ד לְאֶבְיָתָ֗ר יָדַ֜עְתִּי בַּיּ֤וֹם הַהוּא֙ כִּֽי־שָׁם֙ (דויג) [דּוֹאֵ֣ג] הָאֲדֹמִ֔י כִּֽי־הַגֵּ֥ד יַגִּ֖יד לְשָׁא֑וּל אָנֹכִ֣י סַבֹּ֔תִי בְּכׇל־נֶ֖פֶשׁ בֵּ֥ית אָבִֽיךָ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ τῷ Αβιαθαρ ἤιδειν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ὅτι Δωηκ ὁ Σύρος ὅτι ἀπαγγέλλων ἀπαγγελεῖ τῷ Σαουλ ἐγώ εἰμι αἴτιος τῶν ψυχῶν οἴκου τοῦ πατρός σου
Et ait David ad Abiathar : Sciebam in die illa quod cum ibi esset Doëg Idumaeus, procul dubio annuntiaret Sauli : ego sum reus omnium animarum patris tui.
ወይቤ፡ ዳዊት፡ አእመርኩ፡ ይእተ፡ አሚረ፡ ከመ፡ ዶይቅ፡ ሶርያዊ፡ ያየድዖ፡ ለሳኦል፡ ወባሕቱ፡ አነ፡ አበስኩ፡ ላዕለ፡ ነፍሶሙ፡ ለቤተ፡ አቡከ።
David said to Abiathar, “I knew on that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul. I am responsible for the death of all the persons of your father’s house.
22:23
שְׁבָ֤ה אִתִּי֙ אַל־תִּירָ֔א כִּ֛י אֲשֶׁר־יְבַקֵּ֥שׁ אֶת־נַפְשִׁ֖י יְבַקֵּ֣שׁ אֶת־נַפְשֶׁ֑ךָ כִּֽי־מִשְׁמֶ֥רֶת אַתָּ֖ה עִמָּדִֽי׃ {ס}
κάθου μετ’ ἐμοῦ μὴ φοβοῦ ὅτι οὗ ἐὰν ζητῶ τῇ ψυχῇ μου τόπον ζητήσω καὶ τῇ ψυχῇ σου ὅτι πεφύλαξαι σὺ παρ’ ἐμοί
Mane mecum : ne timeas : si quis quaesierit animam meam, quaeret et animam tuam, mecumque servaberis.
ንበር፡ እንከሰ፡ ምስሌየ፡ ወኢትፍራህ፡ እስመ፡ ኀበ፡ ተኀሠሥኩ፡ መካነ፡ ለነፍስየ፡ አኀሥሥ፡ ለነፍስከኒ፡ እስመ፡ ማሕፀንትየ፡ አንተ፡ ኀቤየ።
Stay with me. Don’t be afraid, for he who seeks my life seeks your life. You will be safe with me.”
