19:1
וַ֠יָּ֠שׇׁב יְהוֹשָׁפָ֨ט מֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֧ה אֶל־בֵּית֛וֹ בְּשָׁל֖וֹם לִירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ {ס}
καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν Ιωσαφατ βασιλεὺς Ιουδα εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ ἐν εἰρήνῃ εἰς Ιερουσαλημ
Reversus est autem Josaphat rex Juda in domum suam pacifice in Jerusalem.
ወተመይጠ፡ ኢዮሳፍጥ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤቱ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም፡ በሰላም።
Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.
19:2
וַיֵּצֵ֣א אֶל־פָּנָ֗יו יֵה֣וּא בֶן־חֲנָ֘נִי֮ הַחֹזֶה֒ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֶל־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ יְהוֹשָׁפָ֔ט הֲלָרָשָׁ֣ע לַעְזֹ֔ר וּלְשֹׂנְאֵ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה תֶּאֱהָ֑ב וּבָזֹאת֙ עָלֶ֣יךָ קֶּ֔צֶף מִלִּפְנֵ֖י יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ ἐξῆλθεν εἰς ἀπάντησιν αὐτοῦ Ιου ὁ τοῦ Ανανι ὁ προφήτης καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ βασιλεῦ Ιωσαφατ εἰ ἁμαρτωλῷ σὺ βοηθεῖς ἢ μισουμένῳ ὑπὸ κυρίου φιλιάζεις διὰ τοῦτο ἐγένετο ἐπὶ σὲ ὀργὴ παρὰ κυρίου
Cui occurrit Jehu filius Henani videns, et ait ad eum : Impio praebes auxilium, et his qui oderunt Dominum amicitia jungeris, et idcirco iram quidem Domini merebaris :
ወወፅአ፡ ይትቀበሎ፡ ኢዩ፡ ወልደ፡ አናኒ፡ ነቢይ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ኢዮሳፍጥ፡ እመሰ፡ አንተ፡ ትትራድኦ፡ ለኃጥእ፡ ወለእመ፡ ታፈቅር፡ አንተ፡ ዘይጸልኦ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ በእንተ፡ ዝንቱ፡ መጽአ፡ መቅሠፍተ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked, and love those who hate Yahweh? Because of this, wrath is on you from before Yahweh.
19:3
אֲבָ֕ל דְּבָרִ֥ים טוֹבִ֖ים נִמְצְא֣וּ עִמָּ֑ךְ כִּֽי־בִעַ֤רְתָּ הָאֲשֵׁרוֹת֙ מִן־הָאָ֔רֶץ וַהֲכִינ֥וֹתָ לְבָבְךָ֖ לִדְרֹ֥שׁ הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃
ἀλλ’ ἢ λόγοι ἀγαθοὶ ηὑρέθησαν ἐν σοί ὅτι ἐξῆρας τὰ ἄλση ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς Ιουδα καὶ κατηύθυνας τὴν καρδίαν σου ἐκζητῆσαι τὸν κύριον
sed bona opera inventa sunt in te, eo quod abstuleris lucos de terra Juda, et praeparaveris cor tuum ut requireres Dominum Deum patrum tuorum.
ወባሕቱ፡ ቃላት፡ ሠናያት፡ ተረክቡ፡ በላዕሌከ፡ እስመ፡ አግኃሥከ፡ አማልክተ፡ እምድረ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ወአርታዕከ፡ ልበከ፡ ከመ፡ ትኅሥሦ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር።
Nevertheless there are good things found in you, in that you have put away the Asheroth out of the land, and have set your heart to seek God.”
19:4
וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב יְהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט בִּירוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וַיָּ֜שׇׁב וַיֵּצֵ֣א בָעָ֗ם מִבְּאֵ֥ר שֶׁ֙בַע֙ עַד־הַ֣ר אֶפְרַ֔יִם וַיְשִׁיבֵ֕ם אֶל־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י אֲבוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃
καὶ κατῴκησεν Ιωσαφατ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ πάλιν ἐξῆλθεν εἰς τὸν λαὸν ἀπὸ Βηρσαβεε ἕως ὄρους Εφραιμ καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ κύριον θεὸν τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν
Habitavit ergo Josaphat in Jerusalem, rursumque egressus est ad populum de Bersabee usque ad montem Ephraim, et revocavit eos ad Dominum Deum patrum suorum.
ወኃደረ፡ ኢዮሳፍጥ፡ ውስተ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም፡ ወወፅአ፡ ካዕበ፡ ምስለ፡ ሕዝብ፡ እምቤርሳሌህ፡ እስከ፡ ደብረ፡ ኤፍሬም፡ ወሜጦሙ፡ ኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላከ፡ አበዊሆሙ።
Jehoshaphat lived at Jerusalem; and he went out again among the people from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim, and brought them back to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
19:5
וַיַּעֲמֵ֨ד שֹׁפְטִ֜ים בָּאָ֗רֶץ בְּכׇל־עָרֵ֧י יְהוּדָ֛ה הַבְּצֻר֖וֹת לְעִ֥יר וָעִֽיר׃
καὶ κατέστησεν κριτὰς ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσιν Ιουδα ταῖς ὀχυραῖς ἐν πόλει καὶ πόλει
Constituitque judices terrae in cunctis civitatibus Juda munitis per singula loca,
ወሤመ፡ መኳንንተ፡ ውስተ፡ ኵሉ፡ አህጉረ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ወውስተ፡ አጽዋን፡ በበሀገር።
He set judges in the land throughout all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city,
19:6
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל־הַשֹּׁפְטִ֗ים רְאוּ֙ מָה־אַתֶּ֣ם עֹשִׂ֔ים כִּ֣י לֹ֧א לְאָדָ֛ם תִּשְׁפְּט֖וּ כִּ֣י לַיהֹוָ֑ה וְעִמָּכֶ֖ם בִּדְבַ֥ר מִשְׁפָּֽט׃
καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς κριταῖς ἴδετε τί ὑμεῖς ποιεῖτε ὅτι οὐκ ἀνθρώπῳ ὑμεῖς κρίνετε ἀλλ’ ἢ τῷ κυρίῳ καὶ μεθ’ ὑμῶν λόγοι τῆς κρίσεως
et praecipiens judicibus : Videte, ait, quid faciatis : non enim hominis exercetis judicium, sed Domini : et quodcumque judicaveritis, in vos redundabit.
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ለመኳንንት፡ አእምሩ፡ ዘትገብሩ፡ አንትሙ፡ እስመ፡ አኮ፡ ለሰብእ፡ ኵነኔ፡ አላ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወምስሌክሙ፡ ቃለ፡ ፍትሕ፡ ሀሎ።
and said to the judges, “Consider what you do, for you don’t judge for man, but for Yahweh; and he is with you in the judgment.
19:7
וְעַתָּ֕ה יְהִ֥י פַחַד־יְהֹוָ֖ה עֲלֵיכֶ֑ם שִׁמְר֣וּ וַעֲשׂ֔וּ כִּֽי־אֵ֞ין עִם־יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ עַוְלָ֛ה וּמַשֹּׂ֥א פָנִ֖ים וּמִקַּח־שֹֽׁחַד׃
καὶ νῦν γενέσθω φόβος κυρίου ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς καὶ φυλάσσετε καὶ ποιήσετε ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν μετὰ κυρίου θεοῦ ἡμῶν ἀδικία οὐδὲ θαυμάσαι πρόσωπον οὐδὲ λαβεῖν δῶρα
Sit timor Domini vobiscum, et cum diligentia cuncta facite : non est enim apud Dominum Deum nostrum iniquitas, nec personarum acceptio, nec cupido munerum.
ወይእዜኒ፡ ይኩን፡ ፍርሃተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ላዕሌክሙ፡ ወዕቀቡ፡ ወግበሩ፡ እስመ፡ ኢኮነ፡ ኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክነ፡ ዓመፃ፡ ወኢ፡ ኃፊረ፡ ገጽ፡ ወኢ፡ ነሢአ፡ ሕልያን።
Now therefore let the fear of Yahweh be on you. Take heed and do it; for there is no iniquity with Yahweh our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes.”
19:8
וְגַ֣ם בִּ֠ירוּשָׁלַ֠͏ִם הֶעֱמִ֨יד יְהוֹשָׁפָ֜ט מִן־הַלְוִיִּ֣ם וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים וּמֵרָאשֵׁ֤י הָאָבוֹת֙ לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לְמִשְׁפַּ֥ט יְהֹוָ֖ה וְלָרִ֑יב וַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּ יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃
καὶ γὰρ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ κατέστησεν Ιωσαφατ τῶν ἱερέων καὶ τῶν Λευιτῶν καὶ τῶν πατριαρχῶν Ισραηλ εἰς κρίσιν κυρίου καὶ κρίνειν τοὺς κατοικοῦντας ἐν Ιερουσαλημ
In Jerusalem quoque constituit Josaphat Levitas, et sacerdotes, et principes familiarum ex Israël, ut judicium et causam Domini judicarent habitatoribus ejus.
ወዓዲ፡ በኢየሩሳሌም፡ ሤመ፡ ኢዮሳፍጥ፡ ካህናተ፡ ወሌዋውያን፡ ወሊቃናተ፡ አበወ፡ እስራኤል፡ ይፍትሑ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወይኰንኑ፡ ኵሎ፡ ዘየኀድር፡ ውስተ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም።
Moreover in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat appointed certain Levites, priests, and heads of the fathers’ households of Israel to give judgment for Yahweh and for controversies. They returned to Jerusalem.
19:9
וַיְצַ֥ו עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם לֵאמֹ֑ר כֹּ֤ה תַֽעֲשׂוּן֙ בְּיִרְאַ֣ת יְהֹוָ֔ה בֶּאֱמוּנָ֖ה וּבְלֵבָ֥ב שָׁלֵֽם׃
καὶ ἐνετείλατο πρὸς αὐτοὺς λέγων οὕτως ποιήσετε ἐν φόβῳ κυρίου ἐν ἀληθείᾳ καὶ ἐν πλήρει καρδίᾳ
Praecepitque eis, dicens : Sic agetis in timore Domini fideliter et corde perfecto.
ወከመዝ፡ ሠርዖሙ፡ ኢዮሳፍጥ፡ ወይቤ፡ ዘንተ፡ ግበሩ፡ በፍርሃተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወበርትዕ፡ ወበልብ፡ ንጹሕ።
He commanded them, saying, “You shall do this in the fear of Yahweh, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.
19:10
וְכׇל־רִיב֩ אֲשֶׁר־יָב֨וֹא עֲלֵיכֶ֜ם מֵאֲחֵיכֶ֣ם׀ הַיֹּשְׁבִ֣ים בְּעָרֵיהֶ֗ם בֵּֽין־דָּ֣ם׀לְדָם֮ בֵּין־תּוֹרָ֣ה לְמִצְוָה֮ לְחֻקִּ֣ים וּלְמִשְׁפָּטִים֒ וְהִזְהַרְתֶּ֣ם אֹתָ֔ם וְלֹ֤א יֶאְשְׁמוּ֙ לַֽיהֹוָ֔ה וְהָיָה־קֶ֥צֶף עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם וְעַל־אֲחֵיכֶ֑ם כֹּ֥ה תַעֲשׂ֖וּן וְלֹ֥א תֶאְשָֽׁמוּ׃
πᾶς ἀνὴρ κρίσιν τὴν ἐλθοῦσαν ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς τῶν ἀδελφῶν ὑμῶν τῶν κατοικούντων ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῶν ἀνὰ μέσον αἵματος αἷμα καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον προστάγματος καὶ ἐντολῆς καὶ δικαιώματα καὶ κρίματα καὶ διαστελεῖσθε αὐτοῖς καὶ οὐχ ἁμαρτήσονται τῷ κυρίῳ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς ὀργὴ καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ὑμῶν οὕτως ποιήσετε καὶ οὐχ ἁμαρτήσεσθε
Omnem causam quae venerit ad vos fratrum vestrorum, qui habitant in urbibus suis inter cognationem et cognationem, ubicumque quaestio est de lege, de mandato, de caeremoniis, de justificationibus : ostendite eis, ut non peccent in Dominum, et ne veniat ira super vos et super fratres vestros : sic ergo agentes non peccabitis.
ኵሉ፡ ብእሲ፡ ኢይገምፅ፡ ፍትሐ፡ ለዘመጽአ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ ለፍትሕ፡ እምአኃዊክሙ፡ እለ፡ የኀድሩ፡ ውስተ፡ በሐውርቲሆሙ፡ ማእከለ፡ ደም፡ ወደም፡ ወማእከለ፡ ሥርዓት፡ ወነገር፡ ወጽድቅ፡ ወፍትሕ፡ ወአስተጋብእዎሙ፡ ወኢተአብሱ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ከመ፡ ኢይኩን፡ መዓት፡ ላዕሌክሙ፡ ወከመዝ፡ ግበሩ፡ ወኢተአብሱ።
Whenever any controversy comes to you from your brothers who dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and ordinances, you must warn them, that they not be guilty toward Yahweh, and so wrath come on you and on your brothers. Do this, and you will not be guilty.
19:11
וְהִנֵּ֡ה אֲמַרְיָ֣הוּ כֹהֵן֩ הָרֹ֨אשׁ עֲלֵיכֶ֜ם לְכֹ֣ל דְּבַר־יְהֹוָ֗ה וּזְבַדְיָ֨הוּ בֶן־יִשְׁמָעֵ֜אל הַנָּגִ֤יד לְבֵית־יְהוּדָה֙ לְכֹ֣ל דְּבַר־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וְשֹׁטְרִ֥ים הַלְוִיִּ֖ם לִפְנֵיכֶ֑ם חִזְק֣וּ וַעֲשׂ֔וּ וִיהִ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה עִם־הַטּֽוֹב׃ {פ}
καὶ ἰδοὺ Αμαριας ὁ ἱερεὺς ἡγούμενος ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς εἰς πᾶν λόγον κυρίου καὶ Ζαβδιας υἱὸς Ισμαηλ ὁ ἡγούμενος εἰς οἶκον Ιουδα πρὸς πᾶν λόγον βασιλέως καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς καὶ οἱ Λευῖται πρὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν ἰσχύσατε καὶ ποιήσατε καὶ ἔσται κύριος μετὰ τοῦ ἀγαθοῦ
Amarias autem sacerdos et pontifex vester in his quae ad Deum pertinent, praesidebit : porro Zabadias filius Ismahel, qui est dux in domo Juda, super ea opera erit quae ad regis officium pertinent : habetisque magistros Levitas coram vobis. Confortamini, et agite diligenter, et erit Dominus vobiscum in bonis.
ወናሁ፡ አማርያ፡ ካህን፡ ይሰፍነክሙ፡ በኵሉ፡ ቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወዝብድያስ፡ ወልደ፡ ኢስማኤል፡ መስፍን፡ ለቤተ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ላዕለ፡ ኵሉ፡ ቃለ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወጸሐፍት፡ ወሌዋውያን፡ ቅድመ፡ ገጽክሙ፡ ትጽንዑ፡ ወትግበሩ፡ ወይኩን፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ምስለ፡ ኄር።
Behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of Yahweh; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, in all the king’s matters. Also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and may Yahweh be with the good.”
