10:1
וַֽיְהִי֙ אַחֲרֵי־כֵ֔ן וַיָּ֕מׇת מֶ֖לֶךְ בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֑וֹן וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ חָנ֥וּן בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃
καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ ταῦτα καὶ ἀπέθανεν βασιλεὺς υἱῶν Αμμων καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Αννων υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἀντ’ αὐτοῦ
Factum est autem post haec ut moreretur rex filiorum Ammon, et regnavit Hanon filius ejus pro eo.
ወእምዝ፡ እምድኅረ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ሞተ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ዐሞን፡ ወነግሠ፡ ሐኖን፡ ወልዱ፡ ህየንቴሁ።
After this, the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his place.
10:2
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜ד אֶעֱשֶׂה־חֶ֣סֶד׀ עִם־חָנ֣וּן בֶּן־נָחָ֗שׁ כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ עָשָׂ֨ה אָבִ֤יו עִמָּדִי֙ חֶ֔סֶד וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח דָּוִ֧ד לְנַחֲמ֛וֹ בְּיַד־עֲבָדָ֖יו אֶל־אָבִ֑יו וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ עַבְדֵ֣י דָוִ֔ד אֶ֖רֶץ בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן׃
καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ ποιήσω ἔλεος μετὰ Αννων υἱοῦ Ναας ὃν τρόπον ἐποίησεν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ μετ’ ἐμοῦ ἔλεος καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Δαυιδ παρακαλέσαι αὐτὸν ἐν χειρὶ τῶν δούλων αὐτοῦ περὶ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ παρεγένοντο οἱ παῖδες Δαυιδ εἰς τὴν γῆν υἱῶν Αμμων
Dixitque David : Faciam misericordiam cum Hanon filio Naas, sicut fecit pater ejus mecum misericordiam. Misit ergo David, consolans eum per servos suos super patris interitu. Cum autem venissent servi David in terram filiorum Ammon,
ወይቤ፡ ዳዊት፡ እገብር፡ ምሕረተ፡ ምስለ፡ ሐኖን፡ ወልደ፡ ነአሶ፡ በከመ፡ ገብረ፡ አቡሁ፡ ምሕረተ፡ ላዕሌየ፡ ወፈነወ፡ ዳዊት፡ ሰብአ፡ ያስተብቍዕዎ፡ ሰብኡ፡ በእንተ፡ አቡሁ፡ ከመ፡ ያንግፍዎ፡ ላሐ፡ ወበጽሑ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ዳዊት፡ ውስተ፡ ብሔረ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ዐሞን።
David said, “I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent by his servants to comfort him concerning his father. David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.
10:3
וַיֹּאמְרוּ֩ שָׂרֵ֨י בְנֵי־עַמּ֜וֹן אֶל־חָנ֣וּן אֲדֹנֵיהֶ֗ם הַֽמְכַבֵּ֨ד דָּוִ֤ד אֶת־אָבִ֙יךָ֙ בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ כִּֽי־שָׁלַ֥ח לְךָ֖ מְנַחֲמִ֑ים הֲ֠ל֠וֹא בַּעֲב֞וּר חֲקֹ֤ר אֶת־הָעִיר֙ וּלְרַגְּלָ֣הּ וּלְהׇפְכָ֔הּ שָׁלַ֥ח דָּוִ֛ד אֶת־עֲבָדָ֖יו אֵלֶֽיךָ׃
καὶ εἶπον οἱ ἄρχοντες υἱῶν Αμμων πρὸς Αννων τὸν κύριον αὐτῶν μὴ παρὰ τὸ δοξάζειν Δαυιδ τὸν πατέρα σου ἐνώπιόν σου ὅτι ἀπέστειλέν σοι παρακαλοῦντας ἀλλ’ οὐχὶ ὅπως ἐρευνήσωσιν τὴν πόλιν καὶ κατασκοπήσωσιν αὐτὴν καὶ τοῦ κατασκέψασθαι αὐτὴν ἀπέστειλεν Δαυιδ τοὺς παῖδας αὐτοῦ πρὸς σέ
dixerunt principes filiorum Ammon ad Hanon dominum suum : Putas quod propter honorem patris tui miserit David ad te consolatores, et non ideo ut investigaret, et exploraret civitatem, et everteret eam, misit David servos suos ad te ?
ወይቤልዎ፡ መላእክቲሆሙ፡ ለደቂቀ፡ ዐሞን፡ ለሐኖን፡ ለእግዚኦሙ፡ ይመስለከኑ፡ ዳዊት፡ ከመ፡ ይንአዶ፡ ለአቡከ፡ ዘፈነወ፡ በቅድሜከ፡ ያስተብቍዑከ ፤ አኮኑ፡ አዕይንት፡ እሙንቱ፡ ወከመ፡ ይፍትንዋ፡ ለሀገር፡ ወከመ፡ ያእምርዋ፡ ዘፈነወ፡ ሰብአ፡ ኀቤከ።
But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, “Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Hasn’t David sent his servants to you to search the city, to spy it out, and to overthrow it?”
10:4
וַיִּקַּ֨ח חָנ֜וּן אֶת־עַבְדֵ֣י דָוִ֗ד וַיְגַלַּח֙ אֶת־חֲצִ֣י זְקָנָ֔ם וַיִּכְרֹ֧ת אֶת־מַדְוֵיהֶ֛ם בַּחֵ֖צִי עַ֣ד שְׁתוֹתֵיהֶ֑ם וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֵֽם׃
καὶ ἔλαβεν Αννων τοὺς παῖδας Δαυιδ καὶ ἐξύρησεν τοὺς πώγωνας αὐτῶν καὶ ἀπέκοψεν τοὺς μανδύας αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ ἡμίσει ἕως τῶν ἰσχίων αὐτῶν καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν αὐτούς
Tulit itaque Hanon servos David, rasitque dimidiam partem barbae eorum et praescidit vestes eorum medias usque ad nates, et dimisit eos.
ወነሥኦሙ፡ ሐኖን፡ ለደዊቀ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወላጸዮ፡ ጽሕሞሙ፡ ወመተረ፡ አልባሰ፡ ድርዖሙ፡ እምነ፡ ማአከሉ፡ እስከነ፡ ሐቌሆሙ፡ ወእምዝ፡ ፈነዎሙ።
So Hanun took David’s servants, shaved off one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.
10:5
וַיַּגִּ֤דוּ לְדָוִד֙ וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח לִקְרָאתָ֔ם כִּי־הָי֥וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים נִכְלָמִ֣ים מְאֹ֑ד וַיֹּ֤אמֶר הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ שְׁב֣וּ בִירֵח֔וֹ עַד־יְצַמַּ֥ח זְקַנְכֶ֖ם וְשַׁבְתֶּֽם׃
καὶ ἀνήγγειλαν τῷ Δαυιδ ὑπὲρ τῶν ἀνδρῶν καὶ ἀπέστειλεν εἰς ἀπαντὴν αὐτῶν ὅτι ἦσαν οἱ ἄνδρες ἠτιμασμένοι σφόδρα καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεύς καθίσατε ἐν Ιεριχω ἕως τοῦ ἀνατεῖλαι τοὺς πώγωνας ὑμῶν καὶ ἐπιστραφήσεσθε
Quod cum nuntiatum esset David, misit in occursum eorum : erant enim viri confusi turpiter valde, et mandavit eis David : Manete in Jericho donec crescat barba vestra, et tunc revertimini.
ወዜነውዎ፡ ለዳዊት፡ ዘእሙንቱ፡ ዕደው፡ ወፈነወ፡ ዳዊት፡ ይትቀበልዎሙ፡ እስመ፡ ክቡራን፡ እሙንቱ፡ ዕደው፡ ጥቀ፡ ወይቤሎሙ፡ ዳዊት፡ ንጉሥ፡ ንበሩ፡ ውስተ፡ ኢያሪኮ፡ እስከ፡ ይበቍል፡ ጽሕምክሙ፡ ወእምዝ፡ ተጋብኡ።
When they told David this, he sent to meet them, for the men were greatly ashamed. The king said, “Wait at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.”
10:6
וַיִּרְאוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֔וֹן כִּ֥י נִבְאֲשׁ֖וּ בְּדָוִ֑ד וַיִּשְׁלְח֣וּ בְנֵי־עַמּ֡וֹן וַיִּשְׂכְּרוּ֩ אֶת־אֲרַ֨ם בֵּית־רְח֜וֹב וְאֶת־אֲרַ֣ם צוֹבָ֗א עֶשְׂרִ֥ים אֶ֙לֶף֙ רַגְלִ֔י וְאֶת־מֶ֤לֶךְ מַֽעֲכָה֙ אֶ֣לֶף אִ֔ישׁ וְאִ֣ישׁ ט֔וֹב שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂ֥ר אֶ֖לֶף אִֽישׁ׃
καὶ εἶδαν οἱ υἱοὶ Αμμων ὅτι κατῃσχύνθησαν ὁ λαὸς Δαυιδ καὶ ἀπέστειλαν οἱ υἱοὶ Αμμων καὶ ἐμισθώσαντο τὴν Συρίαν Βαιθροωβ εἴκοσι χιλιάδας πεζῶν καὶ τὸν βασιλέα Μααχα χιλίους ἄνδρας καὶ Ιστωβ δώδεκα χιλιάδας ἀνδρῶν
Videntes autem filii Ammon quod injuriam fecissent David, miserunt, et conduxerunt mercede Syrum Rohob, et Syrum Soba, viginti millia peditum, et a rege Maacha mille viros, et ab Istob duodecim millia virorum.
ወርእዩ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ዐሞን፡ ከመ፡ ተኀፍሩ፡ ሕዝበ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወለአኩ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ዐሞን፡ ወዐሰቡ፡ ሎሙ፡ ሶርያሃ፡ ወሮዖብሃ፡ ፪፼አጋር፡ ወበኀበ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ዐማሌቅ፡ ፲፻ብእሴ፡ ወበእስጦብ፡ ፼ወ፳፻ብእሴ።
When the children of Ammon saw that they had become odious to David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth Rehob and the Syrians of Zobah, twenty thousand footmen, and the king of Maacah with one thousand men, and the men of Tob twelve thousand men.
10:7
וַיִּשְׁמַ֖ע דָּוִ֑ד וַיִּשְׁלַח֙ אֶת־יוֹאָ֔ב וְאֵ֥ת כׇּל־הַצָּבָ֖א הַגִּבֹּרִֽים׃
καὶ ἤκουσεν Δαυιδ καὶ ἀπέστειλεν τὸν Ιωαβ καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν δύναμιν τοὺς δυνατούς
Quod cum audisset David, misit Joab et omnem exercitum bellatorum.
ወሰምዐ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወፈነዎ፡ ለኢዮአብ፡ ወኵሎ፡ ጽኑዓነ፡ ኀይለ።
When David heard of it, he sent Joab and all the army of the mighty men.
10:8
וַיֵּֽצְאוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֔וֹן וַיַּעַרְכ֥וּ מִלְחָמָ֖ה פֶּ֣תַח הַשָּׁ֑עַר וַאֲרַ֨ם צוֹבָ֤א וּרְחוֹב֙ וְאִֽישׁ־ט֣וֹב וּמַעֲכָ֔ה לְבַדָּ֖ם בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃
καὶ ἐξῆλθαν οἱ υἱοὶ Αμμων καὶ παρετάξαντο πόλεμον παρὰ τῇ θύρᾳ τῆς πύλης καὶ Συρία Σουβα καὶ Ροωβ καὶ Ιστωβ καὶ Μααχα μόνοι ἐν ἀγρῷ
Egressi sunt ergo filii Ammon, et direxerunt aciem ante ipsum introitum portae : Syrus autem Soba, et Rohob, et Istob, et Maacha, seorsum erant in campo.
ወወፅኡ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ዐሞን፡ ወተኣኀዙ፡ ይትቃተሉ፡ በኀበ፡ አንቀጽ፡ ወሶርያ፡ ዘሱባ፡ ወሮዖብ፡ ወእስጦብ፡ ወዐማሌቅ፡ ኅቡረ፡ ውስተ፡ ገዳም።
The children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entrance of the gate. The Syrians of Zobah and of Rehob and the men of Tob and Maacah were by themselves in the field.
10:9
וַיַּ֣רְא יוֹאָ֗ב כִּֽי־הָיְתָ֤ה אֵלָיו֙ פְּנֵ֣י הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה מִפָּנִ֖ים וּמֵאָח֑וֹר וַיִּבְחַ֗ר מִכֹּל֙ בְּחוּרֵ֣י (בישראל) [יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל] וַֽיַּעֲרֹ֖ךְ לִקְרַ֥את אֲרָֽם׃
καὶ εἶδεν Ιωαβ ὅτι ἐγενήθη πρὸς αὐτὸν ἀντιπρόσωπον τοῦ πολέμου ἐκ τοῦ κατὰ πρόσωπον ἐξ ἐναντίας καὶ ἐκ τοῦ ὄπισθεν καὶ ἐπέλεξεν ἐκ πάντων τῶν νεανίσκων Ισραηλ καὶ παρετάξαντο ἐξ ἐναντίας Συρίας
Videns igitur Joab quod praeparatum esset adversum se praelium et ex adverso et post tergum, elegit ex omnibus electis Israël, et instruxit aciem contra Syrum :
ወርእየ፡ ኢዮአብ፡ ከመ፡ መጽእዎሙ፡ እምኔሆሙ፡ ምክዕቢተ፡ ይትቃተልዎሙ፡ እምቅድሜሆሙኒ፡ ወእምድኅሬሆሙኒ፡ ወኀረየ፡ ሎቱ፡ እምነ፡ ኵሉ፡ ወራዙተ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወተቃተልዎሙ፡ ለሶርያ፡ እምቅድም።
Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel and put them in array against the Syrians.
10:10
וְאֵת֙ יֶ֣תֶר הָעָ֔ם נָתַ֕ן בְּיַ֖ד אַבְשַׁ֣י אָחִ֑יו וַיַּעֲרֹ֕ךְ לִקְרַ֖את בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן׃
καὶ τὸ κατάλοιπον τοῦ λαοῦ ἔδωκεν ἐν χειρὶ Αβεσσα τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ παρετάξαντο ἐξ ἐναντίας υἱῶν Αμμων
reliquam autem partem populi tradidit Abisai fratri suo, qui direxit aciem adversus filios Ammon.
ወዘተርፈ፡ ሕዝቦ፡ ፈነወ፡ ምስለ፡ አቢሳ፡ እኁሁ፡ ወተቃደምዎሙ፡ ለደቂቀ፡ ዐሞን፡ ወተቃተልዎሙ።
The rest of the people he committed into the hand of Abishai his brother; and he put them in array against the children of Ammon.
10:11
וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אִם־תֶּחֱזַ֤ק אֲרָם֙ מִמֶּ֔נִּי וְהָיִ֥תָה לִּ֖י לִישׁוּעָ֑ה וְאִם־בְּנֵ֤י עַמּוֹן֙ יֶחֶזְק֣וּ מִמְּךָ֔ וְהָלַכְתִּ֖י לְהוֹשִׁ֥יעַֽ לָֽךְ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ἐὰν κραταιωθῇ Συρία ὑπὲρ ἐμέ καὶ ἔσεσθέ μοι εἰς σωτηρίαν καὶ ἐὰν υἱοὶ Αμμων κραταιωθῶσιν ὑπὲρ σέ καὶ ἐσόμεθα τοῦ σῶσαί σε
Et ait Joab : Si praevaluerint adversum me Syri, eris mihi in adjutorium : si autem filii Ammon praevaluerint adversum te, auxiliabor tibi.
ወይቤ፡ ለእመ፡ ጸንዑ፡ ሶርያ፡ እምኔየ፡ ትከውኑኒ፡ ረድኤተ፡ አንትሙ፡ ወእመ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ዐሞን፡ ጸንሁ፡ እምኔክሙ፡ ወንከውነክሙ፡ ንሕነ፡ ረድኤተ።
He said, “If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you shall help me; but if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will come and help you.
10:12
חֲזַ֤ק וְנִתְחַזַּק֙ בְּעַד־עַמֵּ֔נוּ וּבְעַ֖ד עָרֵ֣י אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ וַֽיהֹוָ֔ה יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה הַטּ֖וֹב בְּעֵינָֽיו׃
ἀνδρίζου καὶ κραταιωθῶμεν ὑπὲρ τοῦ λαοῦ ἡμῶν καὶ περὶ τῶν πόλεων τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν καὶ κύριος ποιήσει τὸ ἀγαθὸν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτοῦ
Esto vir fortis, et pugnemus pro populo nostro et civitate Dei nostri : Dominus autem faciet quod bonum est in conspectu suo.
ጽንዑ፡ ወኀይሉ፡ በእንተ፡ ሕዝብነ፡ ወበእንተ፡ አህጉረ፡ አምላክነ፡ ወእግዚአብሔር፡ ይገብር፡ ሠናይተ፡ ዘይኤድም፡ በቅድመ፡ አዕይንቲሁ።
Be courageous, and let’s be strong for our people and for the cities of our God; and may Yahweh do what seems good to him.”
10:13
וַיִּגַּ֣שׁ יוֹאָ֗ב וְהָעָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עִמּ֔וֹ לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה בַּאֲרָ֑ם וַיָּנֻ֖סוּ מִפָּנָֽיו׃
καὶ προσῆλθεν Ιωαβ καὶ ὁ λαὸς αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτοῦ εἰς πόλεμον πρὸς Συρίαν καὶ ἔφυγαν ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ
Iniit itaque Joab, et populus qui erat cum eo, certamen contra Syros : qui statim fugerunt a facie ejus.
ወቦኡ፡ ኢዮአብ፡ ወኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ዘምስሌሁ፡ ይትቃተሉ፡ ምስለ፡ ሶርያ፡ ወጐዩ፡ እምቅድመ፡ ገጾሙ።
So Joab and the people who were with him came near to the battle against the Syrians, and they fled before him.
10:14
וּבְנֵ֨י עַמּ֤וֹן רָאוּ֙ כִּֽי־נָ֣ס אֲרָ֔ם וַיָּנֻ֙סוּ֙ מִפְּנֵ֣י אֲבִישַׁ֔י וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ הָעִ֑יר וַיָּ֣שׇׁב יוֹאָ֗ב מֵעַל֙ בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֔וֹן וַיָּבֹ֖א יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃
καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Αμμων εἶδαν ὅτι ἔφυγεν Συρία καὶ ἔφυγαν ἀπὸ προσώπου Αβεσσα καὶ εἰσῆλθαν εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ ἀνέστρεψεν Ιωαβ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Αμμων καὶ παρεγένοντο εἰς Ιερουσαλημ
Filii autem Ammon videntes quia fugissent Syri, fugerunt et ipsi a facie Abisai, et ingressi sunt civitatem : reversusque est Joab a filiis Ammon, et venit Jerusalem.
ወሶበ፡ ርእዩ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ዐሞን፡ ከመ፡ ጐዩ፡ ሶርያ፡ ጐዩ፡ እሙንቱኒ፡ እምቅድመ፡ ገጹ፡ ለአቢሳ፡ ወቦኡ፡ ውስተ፡ ሀገር፡ ወአተወ፡ ኢዮአብ፡ እምኀበ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ዐሞን፡ ወቦአ፡ ውስተ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም።
When the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they likewise fled before Abishai, and entered into the city. Then Joab returned from the children of Ammon and came to Jerusalem.
10:15
וַיַּ֣רְא אֲרָ֔ם כִּ֥י נִגַּ֖ף לִפְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיֵּאָסְפ֖וּ יָֽחַד׃
καὶ εἶδεν Συρία ὅτι ἔπταισεν ἔμπροσθεν Ισραηλ καὶ συνήχθησαν ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό
Videntes igitur Syri quoniam corruissent coram Israël, congregati sunt pariter.
ወሶበ፡ ርእዩ፡ ሶርያ፡ ከመ፡ ወድቁ፡ ቅድሜሆሙ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ወተጋብኡ፡ ኅቡረ።
When the Syrians saw that they were defeated by Israel, they gathered themselves together.
10:16
וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח הֲדַדְעֶ֗זֶר וַיֹּצֵ֤א אֶת־אֲרָם֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ מֵעֵ֣בֶר הַנָּהָ֔ר וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ חֵילָ֑ם וְשׁוֹבַ֛ךְ שַׂר־צְבָ֥א הֲדַדְעֶ֖זֶר לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ {ס}
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Αδρααζαρ καὶ συνήγαγεν τὴν Συρίαν τὴν ἐκ τοῦ πέραν τοῦ ποταμοῦ Χαλαμακ καὶ παρεγένοντο Αιλαμ καὶ Σωβακ ἄρχων τῆς δυνάμεως Αδρααζαρ ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν
Misitque Adarezer, et eduxit Syros qui erant trans fluvium, et adduxit eorum exercitum : Sobach autem, magister militiae Adarezer, erat princeps eorum.
ወለአከ፡ እድረዐዛር፡ ወአስተጋብኦሙ፡ ለሶርያ፡ እምነ፡ ማዕዶት፡ ፈለገ፡ ከማዐቅ፡ ወመጽኡ፡ ውስተ፡ ኤላም፡ ወሶቤቅ፡ መልአከ፡ ኀይሉ፡ ለእድረዐዛር፡ ቅድሜሆሙ።
Hadadezer sent and brought out the Syrians who were beyond the River; and they came to Helam, with Shobach the captain of the army of Hadadezer at their head.
10:17
וַיֻּגַּ֣ד לְדָוִ֗ד וַיֶּאֱסֹ֤ף אֶת־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וַיַּעֲבֹ֣ר אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וַיָּבֹ֖א חֵלָ֑אמָה וַיַּעַרְכ֤וּ אֲרָם֙ לִקְרַ֣את דָּוִ֔ד וַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֖וּ עִמּֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἀνηγγέλη τῷ Δαυιδ καὶ συνήγαγεν τὸν πάντα Ισραηλ καὶ διέβη τὸν Ιορδάνην καὶ παρεγένοντο εἰς Αιλαμ καὶ παρετάξατο Συρία ἀπέναντι Δαυιδ καὶ ἐπολέμησαν μετ’ αὐτοῦ
Quod cum nuntiatum esset David, contraxit omnem Israëlem, et transivit Jordanem, venitque in Helam : et direxerunt aciem Syri ex adverso David, et pugnaverunt contra eum.
ወዜነውዎ፡ ለዳዊት፡ ወእስተጋብኦሙ፡ ለኵሉ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወዐደዉ፡ ዮርዳኖስ፡ ወመጽኡ፡ ሶርያ፡ ተቀበልዎ፡ ለዳዊት፡ ወተቃተሉ፡ ሶርያ፡ ምስሌሆሙ።
David was told that; and he gathered all Israel together, passed over the Jordan, and came to Helam. The Syrians set themselves in array against David and fought with him.
10:18
וַיָּ֣נׇס אֲרָם֮ מִפְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ וַיַּהֲרֹ֨ג דָּוִ֜ד מֵאֲרָ֗ם שְׁבַ֤ע מֵאוֹת֙ רֶ֔כֶב וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף פָּרָשִׁ֑ים וְאֵ֨ת שׁוֹבַ֧ךְ שַׂר־צְבָא֛וֹ הִכָּ֖ה וַיָּ֥מׇת שָֽׁם׃
καὶ ἔφυγεν Συρία ἀπὸ προσώπου Ισραηλ καὶ ἀνεῖλεν Δαυιδ ἐκ τῆς Συρίας ἑπτακόσια ἅρματα καὶ τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάδας ἱππέων καὶ τὸν Σωβακ τὸν ἄρχοντα τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ ἐπάταξεν καὶ ἀπέθανεν ἐκεῖ
Fugeruntque Syri a facie Israël, et occidit David de Syris septingentos currus, et quadraginta millia equitum : et Sobach principem militiae percussit, qui statim mortuus est.
ወጐዩ፡ እምቅድመ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወቀተለ፡ እምነ፡ ሶርያ፡ ዳዊት፡ ፯፻ሰረገላተ፡ ወ፬፼ሰብአ፡ ፈረስ፡ ወሶሌቅሃኒ፡ መልአከ፡ ኀይሉ፡ ቀተሎ፡ ወሞተ፡ በህየ።
The Syrians fled before Israel; and David killed seven hundred charioteers of the Syrians and forty thousand horsemen, and struck Shobach the captain of their army, so that he died there.
10:19
וַיִּרְא֨וּ כׇֽל־הַמְּלָכִ֜ים עַבְדֵ֣י הֲדַדְעֶ֗זֶר כִּ֤י נִגְּפוּ֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיַּשְׁלִ֥מוּ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וַיַּעַבְד֑וּם וַיִּֽרְא֣וּ אֲרָ֔ם לְהוֹשִׁ֥יעַ ע֖וֹד אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן׃ {פ}
καὶ εἶδαν πάντες οἱ βασιλεῖς οἱ δοῦλοι Αδρααζαρ ὅτι ἔπταισαν ἔμπροσθεν Ισραηλ καὶ ηὐτομόλησαν μετὰ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐδούλευσαν αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐφοβήθη Συρία τοῦ σῶσαι ἔτι τοὺς υἱοὺς Αμμων
Videntes autem universi reges qui erant in praesidio Adarezer, se victos esse ab Israël, expaverunt, et fugerunt quinquaginta et octo millia coram Israël. Et fecerunt pacem cum Israël, et servierunt eis : timueruntque Syri auxilium praebere ultra filiis Ammon.
ወሶበ፡ ርእዩ፡ ኵሉ፡ ነገሥት፡ አግብርተ፡ አድረዐዛር፡ ከመ፡ ወድቁ፡ ቅድመ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወገረሩ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ወተቀንዩ፡ ሎሙ፡ ወፈርሁ፡ ሶርያ፡ ህየ፡ አድኅኖቶሙ፡ ለደቂቀ፡ ዐሞን።
When all the kings who were servants to Hadadezer saw that they were defeated before Israel, they made peace with Israel and served them. So the Syrians were afraid to help the children of Ammon any more.
