23:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאֵ֛לֶּה דִּבְרֵ֥י דָוִ֖ד הָאַחֲרֹנִ֑ים נְאֻ֧ם דָּוִ֣ד בֶּן ־יִשַׁ֗י וּנְאֻ֤ם הַגֶּ֙בֶר֙ הֻ֣קַם עָ֔ל מְשִׁ֙יחַ֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יַעֲקֹ֔ב וּנְעִ֖ים זְמִר֥וֹת יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
καὶ οὗτοι οἱ λόγοι Δαυιδ οἱ ἔσχατοι πιστὸς Δαυιδ υἱὸς Ιεσσαι καὶ πιστὸς ἀνήρ ὃν ἀνέστησεν κύριος ἐπὶ χριστὸν θεοῦ Ιακωβ καὶ εὐπρεπεῖς ψαλμοὶ Ισραηλ
Haec autem sunt verba David novissima . Dixit David filius Isai : Dixit vir , cui constitutum est de christo Dei Jacob , egregius psaltes Israël :
ወዝንቱ ፡ ነገሩ ፡ ደኃሪ ፡ ለዳዊት ፤ ምእመን ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ወልደ ፡ እሴይ ፡ ወምእመን ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ዘአቀመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላከ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ወአዳም ፡ መዝሙረ ፡ እስራኤል ።
Now these are the last words of David. David the son of Jesse says, the man who was raised on high says, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the sweet psalmist of Israel:
23:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ ר֥וּחַ יְהֹוָ֖ה דִּבֶּר ־בִּ֑י וּמִלָּת֖וֹ עַל ־לְשׁוֹנִֽי ׃
πνεῦμα κυρίου ἐλάλησεν ἐν ἐμοί καὶ ὁ λόγος αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ γλώσσης μου
Spiritus Domini locutus est per me , et sermo ejus per linguam meam .
መንፈሰ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ተናገረ ፡ በላዕሌየ ፡ ወቃሉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ልሳንየ ።
“Yahweh’s Spirit spoke by me. His word was on my tongue.
23:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ אָמַר֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לִ֥י דִבֶּ֖ר צ֣וּר יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל מוֹשֵׁל֙ בָּאָדָ֔ם צַדִּ֕יק מוֹשֵׁ֖ל יִרְאַ֥ת אֱלֹהִֽים ׃
λέγει ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ ἐμοὶ ἐλάλησεν φύλαξ Ισραηλ παραβολὴν εἰπόν ἐν ἀνθρώπῳ πῶς κραταιώσητε φόβον θεοῦ
Dixit Deus Israël mihi , locutus est fortis Israël : Dominator hominum , justus dominator in timore Dei ,
ይቤ ፡ አምላከ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ አምሳለ ፡ ተናገርኩ ፡ በእጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ ከመ ፡ ታጽንዑ ፡ ፍርሀተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, ‘One who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God,
23:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּכְא֥וֹר בֹּ֖קֶר יִזְרַח ־שָׁ֑מֶשׁ בֹּ֚קֶר לֹ֣א עָב֔וֹת מִנֹּ֥גַהּ מִמָּטָ֖ר דֶּ֥שֶׁא מֵאָֽרֶץ ׃
καὶ ἐν θεῷ φωτὶ πρωίας ἀνατείλαι ἥλιος τὸ πρωὶ οὐ παρῆλθεν ἐκ φέγγους καὶ ὡς ἐξ ὑετοῦ χλόης ἀπὸ γῆς
sicut lux aurorae , oriente sole , mane absque nubibus rutilat : et sicut pluviis germinat herba de terra .
ወበብርሃነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በጽባሕ ፡ ይሠርቅ ፡ ፀሓይ ፡ ወበነግህ ፡ ይመጽእ ፡ ብርሃኑ ፡ ወእምነ ፡ ዝናም ፡ ይሥዕር ፡ ሐመልማል ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ።
shall be as the light of the morning when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, when the tender grass springs out of the earth, through clear shining after rain.’
23:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּי ־לֹא ־כֵ֥ן בֵּיתִ֖י עִם ־אֵ֑ל כִּי֩ בְרִ֨ית עוֹלָ֜ם שָׂ֣ם לִ֗י עֲרוּכָ֤ה בַכֹּל֙ וּשְׁמֻרָ֔ה כִּי ־כׇל ־יִשְׁעִ֥י וְכׇל ־חֵ֖פֶץ כִּי ־לֹ֥א יַצְמִֽיחַ ׃
οὐ γὰρ οὕτως ὁ οἶκός μου μετὰ ἰσχυροῦ διαθήκην γὰρ αἰώνιον ἔθετό μοι ἑτοίμην ἐν παντὶ καιρῷ πεφυλαγμένην ὅτι πᾶσα σωτηρία μου καὶ πᾶν θέλημα ὅτι οὐ μὴ βλαστήσῃ ὁ παράνομος
Nec tanta est domus mea apud Deum , ut pactum aeternum iniret mecum , firmum in omnibus atque munitum . Cuncta enim salus mea , et omnis voluntas , nec est quidquam ex ea quod non germinet .
ወዝንቱ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ቤትየ ፡ ዘምስለ ፡ ጽኑዕ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኪዳን ፡ ዘለዓለም ፡ ድልወ ፡ አቀመ ፡ ሊተ ፡ እንተ ፡ ዕቅብት ፡ በኵሉ ፡ መዋዕል ፡ እስመ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕይወትየ ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ፈቃድየ ፡ በእግዚአብሔር ፡ እስመ ፡ ኢይሠርፅ ፡ በማፂ ።
Isn’t my house so with God? Yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure, for it is all my salvation and all my desire. Won’t he make it grow?
23:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּבְלִיַּ֕עַל כְּק֥וֹץ מֻנָ֖ד כֻּלָּ֑הַם כִּי ־לֹ֥א בְיָ֖ד יִקָּֽחוּ ׃
ὥσπερ ἄκανθα ἐξωσμένη πάντες αὐτοί ὅτι οὐ χειρὶ λημφθήσονται
Praevaricatores autem quasi spinae evellentur universi , quae non tolluntur manibus .
ከመ ፡ ዐቃቤ ፡ ምልኅት ።
But all the ungodly will be as thorns to be thrust away, because they can’t be taken with the hand.
23:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאִישׁ֙ יִגַּ֣ע בָּהֶ֔ם יִמָּלֵ֥א בַרְזֶ֖ל וְעֵ֣ץ חֲנִ֑ית וּבָאֵ֕שׁ שָׂר֥וֹף יִשָּׂרְפ֖וּ בַּשָּֽׁבֶת ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἀνὴρ οὐ κοπιάσει ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ πλῆρες σιδήρου καὶ ξύλον δόρατος καὶ ἐν πυρὶ καύσει καυθήσονται αἰσχύνῃ αὐτῶν
Et si quis tangere voluerit eas , armabitur ferro et ligno lanceato , igneque succensae comburentur usque ad nihilum .
ከማሁ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ እስመ ፡ አኮ ፡ በእድ ፡ ዘይመልኅዎሙ ።
The man who touches them must be armed with iron and the staff of a spear. They will be utterly burned with fire in their place.”
23:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ אֵ֛לֶּה שְׁמ֥וֹת הַגִּבֹּרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְדָוִ֑ד יֹשֵׁ֨ב בַּשֶּׁ֜בֶת תַּחְכְּמֹנִ֣י ׀ רֹ֣אשׁ הַשָּׁלִשִׁ֗י ה֚וּא עֲדִינ֣וֹ (העצנו ) [הָֽעֶצְנִ֔י ] עַל ־שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֛וֹת חָלָ֖ל בְּפַ֥עַם (אחד ) [אֶחָֽת ]׃ {ס}
ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν δυνατῶν Δαυιδ Ιεβοσθε ὁ Χαναναῖος ἄρχων τοῦ τρίτου ἐστίν Αδινων ὁ Ασωναῖος οὗτος ἐσπάσατο τὴν ῥομφαίαν αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ ὀκτακοσίους τραυματίας εἰς ἅπαξ
Haec nomina fortium David . Sedens in cathedra sapientissimus princeps inter tres , ipse est quasi tenerrimus ligni vermiculus , qui octingentos interfecit impetu uno .
ወአኮ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ ዘይጻሙ ፡ ቦሙ ፡ ወኢበብዝኀ ፡ ኀፂን ፡ ወኢበብዝኀ ፡ ዕፀ ፡ ኵናት ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ዘይውዕዩ ፡ በእሳት ፡ ወይነድዱ ፡ በኀሳሮሙ ።
These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb Basshebeth, a Tahchemonite, chief of the captains; he was called Adino the Eznite, who killed eight hundred at one time.
23:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַחֲרָ֛ו אֶלְעָזָ֥ר בֶּן ־[דֹּד֖וֹ ] (דדי ) בֶּן ־אֲחֹחִ֑י בִּשְׁלֹשָׁ֨ה (גברים ) [הַגִּבֹּרִ֜ים ] עִם ־דָּוִ֗ד בְּחָרְפָ֤ם בַּפְּלִשְׁתִּים֙ נֶאֶסְפוּ ־שָׁ֣ם לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה וַֽיַּעֲל֖וּ אִ֥ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
καὶ μετ’ αὐτὸν Ελεαζαρ υἱὸς πατραδέλφου αὐτοῦ υἱὸς Σουσίτου ἐν τοῖς τρισὶν δυνατοῖς οὗτος ἦν μετὰ Δαυιδ ἐν Σερραν καὶ ἐν τῷ ὀνειδίσαι αὐτὸν ἐν τοῖς ἀλλοφύλοις συνήχθησαν ἐκεῖ εἰς πόλεμον καὶ ἀνέβησαν ἀνὴρ Ισραηλ
Post hunc , Eleazar filius patrui ejus Ahohites inter tres fortes , qui erant cum David quando exprobraverunt Philisthiim , et congregati sunt illuc in praelium .
ወዝንቱ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ አስማቲሆሙ ፡ ለጽኑዓኒሁ ፡ ለዳዊት ፤ ኢያቡስቴ ፡ ከነናዊ ፡ መልአከ ፡ ሣልስተ ፡ እዴሁ ፤ አዲኖን ፡ አሣናዊ ፡ ዘቈልቈለ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ፰፻ብእሲ ፡ ሐራ ፡ በምዕር ።
After him was Eleazar the son of Dodai the son of an Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David when they defied the Philistines who were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel had gone away.
23:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ ה֣וּא קָם֩ וַיַּ֨ךְ בַּפְּלִשְׁתִּ֜ים עַ֣ד ׀ כִּֽי ־יָגְעָ֣ה יָד֗וֹ וַתִּדְבַּ֤ק יָדוֹ֙ אֶל ־הַחֶ֔רֶב וַיַּ֧עַשׂ יְהֹוָ֛ה תְּשׁוּעָ֥ה גְדוֹלָ֖ה בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא וְהָעָ֛ם יָשֻׁ֥בוּ אַחֲרָ֖יו אַךְ ־לְפַשֵּֽׁט ׃ {ס}
αὐτὸς ἀνέστη καὶ ἐπάταξεν ἐν τοῖς ἀλλοφύλοις ἕως οὗ ἐκοπίασεν ἡ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ καὶ προσεκολλήθη ἡ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ πρὸς τὴν μάχαιραν καὶ ἐποίησεν κύριος σωτηρίαν μεγάλην ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ καὶ ὁ λαὸς ἐκάθητο ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ πλὴν ἐκδιδύσκειν
Cumque ascendissent viri Israël , ipse stetit et percussit Philisthaeos donec deficeret manus ejus , et obrigesceret cum gladio : fecitque Dominus salutem magnam in die illa : et populus qui fugerat , reversus est ad caesorum spolia detrahenda .
ወምስሌሁ ፡ ኤሌአናን ፡ ወልደ ፡ አበ ፡ እኁሁ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ሶሲ ፡ ዘላዕለ ፡ ፫ኀያላን ፡ እለ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ወአመ ፡ ተዐየኑ ፡ በኢሎፍሊ ፡ ተጋብኡ ፡ በህየ ፡ ይትቃተሉ ፡ ወሶበ ፡ ጸርኁ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ተንሥአ ፡ ወቀተሎሙ ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ ፡ እስከ ፡ ደክመ ፡ እደዊሁ ፡ ወየብሰ ፡ እዴሁ ፡ በመጥባሕት ፡ ወገብረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዐቢየ ፡ መድኀኒተ ፡ ይእተ ፡ አሚረ ፡ ወሕዝብሰ ፡ ነበሩ ፡ ድኅሬሁ ፡ ወባሕቱ ፡ ይሰልቡ ።
He arose and struck the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand froze to the sword; and Yahweh worked a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to take plunder.
23:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַחֲרָ֛יו שַׁמָּ֥ה בֶן ־אָגֵ֖א הָרָרִ֑י וַיֵּאָסְפ֨וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֜ים לַחַיָּ֗ה וַתְּהִי ־שָׁ֞ם חֶלְקַ֤ת הַשָּׂדֶה֙ מְלֵאָ֣ה עֲדָשִׁ֔ים וְהָעָ֥ם נָ֖ס מִפְּנֵ֥י פְלִשְׁתִּֽים ׃
καὶ μετ’ αὐτὸν Σαμαια υἱὸς Ασα ὁ Αρουχαῖος καὶ συνήχθησαν οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι εἰς Θηρία καὶ ἦν ἐκεῖ μερὶς τοῦ ἀγροῦ πλήρης φακοῦ καὶ ὁ λαὸς ἔφυγεν ἐκ προσώπου ἀλλοφύλων
Et post hunc , Semma filius Age de Arari . Et congregati sunt Philisthiim in statione : erat quippe ibi ager lente plenus . Cumque fugisset populus a facie Philisthiim ,
ምስሌሁ ፡ ሶርክያስ ፡ ወተጋብኡ ፡ ኢሎፍሊ ፡ በሐጋይ ፡ ወሀለወ ፡ ህየ ፡ ፩ኅብረ ፡ ገራህት ፡ ምሉእ ፡ ብርስነ ፡ ወጐዩ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጾሙ ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ ።
After him was Shammah the son of Agee, a Hararite. The Philistines had gathered together into a troop where there was a plot of ground full of lentils; and the people fled from the Philistines.
23:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּתְיַצֵּ֤ב בְּתוֹךְ ־הַחֶלְקָה֙ וַיַּצִּילֶ֔הָ וַיַּ֖ךְ אֶת ־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וַיַּ֥עַשׂ יְהֹוָ֖ה תְּשׁוּעָ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה ׃ {ס}
καὶ ἐστηλώθη ἐν μέσῳ τῆς μερίδος καὶ ἐξείλατο αὐτὴν καὶ ἐπάταξεν τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους καὶ ἐποίησεν κύριος σωτηρίαν μεγάλην
stetit ille in medio agri , et tuitus est eum , percussitque Philisthaeos : et fecit Dominus salutem magnam .
ወቆሙ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ገራህት ፡ ወአድኀኖሙ ፡ ወቀተሎሙ ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ ፡ ወገብረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ መድኀኒተ ፡ ዐቢየ ።
But he stood in the middle of the plot and defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Yahweh worked a great victory.
23:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֵּרְד֨וּ (שלשים ) [שְׁלֹשָׁ֜ה ] מֵהַשְּׁלֹשִׁ֣ים רֹ֗אשׁ וַיָּבֹ֤אוּ אֶל ־קָצִיר֙ אֶל ־דָּוִ֔ד אֶל ־מְעָרַ֖ת עֲדֻלָּ֑ם וְחַיַּ֣ת פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים חֹנָ֖ה בְּעֵ֥מֶק רְפָאִֽים ׃
καὶ κατέβησαν τρεῖς ἀπὸ τῶν τριάκοντα καὶ ἦλθον εἰς Κασων πρὸς Δαυιδ εἰς τὸ σπήλαιον Οδολλαμ καὶ τάγμα τῶν ἀλλοφύλων παρενέβαλον ἐν τῇ κοιλάδι Ραφαϊμ
Necnon et ante descenderant tres qui erant principes inter triginta , et venerant tempore messis ad David in speluncam Odollam : castra autem Philisthinorum erant posita in Valle gigantum .
ወወረዱ ፡ ፫እምነ ፡ ፴ወወረዱ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቃስኖ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ውስተ ፡ በአተ ፡ ኤዶላም ፡ ወአልባሲሆሙኒ ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ ፡ ወተዐየኑ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አንቀጸ ፡ ረፋይን ።
Three of the thirty chief men went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam; and the troop of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
23:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְדָוִ֖ד אָ֣ז בַּמְּצוּדָ֑ה וּמַצַּ֣ב פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים אָ֖ז בֵּ֥ית לָֽחֶם ׃
καὶ Δαυιδ τότε ἐν τῇ περιοχῇ καὶ τὸ ὑπόστημα τῶν ἀλλοφύλων τότε ἐν Βαιθλεεμ
Et David erat in praesidio : porro statio Philisthinorum tunc erat in Bethlehem .
ወዳዊትሰ ፡ ይእተ ፡ አሚረ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቅጽር ፡ ሀሎ ፡ ወኀይሎሙ ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ ፡ ይእተ ፡ አሚረ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ልሔም ።
David was then in the stronghold; and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.
23:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּתְאַוֶּ֥ה דָוִ֖ד וַיֹּאמַ֑ר מִ֚י יַשְׁקֵ֣נִי מַ֔יִם מִבֹּ֥אר בֵּֽית ־לֶ֖חֶם אֲשֶׁ֥ר בַּשָּֽׁעַר ׃ {ס}
καὶ ἐπεθύμησεν Δαυιδ καὶ εἶπεν τίς ποτιεῖ με ὕδωρ ἐκ τοῦ λάκκου τοῦ ἐν Βαιθλεεμ τοῦ ἐν τῇ πύλῃ τὸ δὲ σύστημα τῶν ἀλλοφύλων τότε ἐν Βαιθλεεμ
Desideravit ergo David , et ait : O si quis mihi daret potum aquae de cisterna quae est in Bethlehem juxta portam !
ወፈተወ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ወይቤ ፡ መኑ ፡ እምአስተየኒ ፡ ማየ ፡ እምነ ፡ ዐዘቅት ፡ ዘውስተ ፡ አንቀጸ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ልሔም ፡ ወሀለወ ፡ ኀይሎሙ ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ ፡ ይእተ ፡ አሚረ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ልሔም ።
David said longingly, “Oh that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”
23:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּבְקְעוּ֩ שְׁלֹ֨שֶׁת הַגִּבֹּרִ֜ים בְּמַחֲנֵ֣ה פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים וַיִּֽשְׁאֲבוּ ־מַ֙יִם֙ מִבֹּ֤אר בֵּֽית ־לֶ֙חֶם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּשַּׁ֔עַר וַיִּשְׂא֖וּ וַיָּבִ֣אוּ אֶל ־דָּוִ֑ד וְלֹ֤א אָבָה֙ לִשְׁתּוֹתָ֔ם וַיַּסֵּ֥ךְ אֹתָ֖ם לַיהֹוָֽה ׃
καὶ διέρρηξαν οἱ τρεῖς δυνατοὶ ἐν τῇ παρεμβολῇ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ὑδρεύσαντο ὕδωρ ἐκ τοῦ λάκκου τοῦ ἐν Βαιθλεεμ τοῦ ἐν τῇ πύλῃ καὶ ἔλαβαν καὶ παρεγένοντο πρὸς Δαυιδ καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν πιεῖν αὐτὸ καὶ ἔσπεισεν αὐτὸ τῷ κυρίῳ
Irruperunt ergo tres fortes castra Philisthinorum , et hauserunt aquam de cisterna Bethlehem , quae erat juxta portam , et attulerunt ad David : at ille noluit bibere , sed libavit eam Domino ,
ወሠጠቁ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ትዕይንቶሙ ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ ፡ እልክቱ ፡ ፫ጽኑዓን ፡ ወቀድሑ ፡ ማየ ፡ እምነ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ዐዘቅት ፡ እንተ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አንቀጸ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ልሔም ፡ ወነሥኡ ፡ ወአምጽኡ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ወአበየ ፡ ሰትየ ፡ እምኔሁ ፡ ወአውጽኆ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ።
The three mighty men broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate and took it and brought it to David; but he would not drink of it, but poured it out to Yahweh.
23:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֡אמֶר חָלִ֩ילָה֩ לִּ֨י יְהֹוָ֜ה מֵעֲשֹׂ֣תִי זֹ֗את הֲדַ֤ם הָאֲנָשִׁים֙ הַהֹלְכִ֣ים בְּנַפְשׁוֹתָ֔ם וְלֹ֥א אָבָ֖ה לִשְׁתּוֹתָ֑ם אֵ֣לֶּה עָשׂ֔וּ שְׁלֹ֖שֶׁת הַגִּבֹּרִֽים ׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπεν ἵλεώς μοι κύριε τοῦ ποιῆσαι τοῦτο εἰ αἷμα τῶν ἀνδρῶν τῶν πορευθέντων ἐν ταῖς ψυχαῖς αὐτῶν πίομαι καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν πιεῖν αὐτό ταῦτα ἐποίησαν οἱ τρεῖς δυνατοί
dicens : Propitius sit mihi Dominus , ne faciam hoc : num sanguinem hominum istorum qui profecti sunt , et animarum periculum bibam ? Noluit ergo bibere . Haec fecerunt tres robustissimi .
ወይቤ ፡ ሐሰ ፡ ሊተ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ እምነ ፡ ገቢሮቱ ፡ ለዝንቱ ፡ እምሰቲየ ፡ ደሞሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ሖሩ ፡ ወመጠዉ ፡ ነፍሶሙ ፡ ወአበየ ፡ ለሰቲዮቶ ፡ ወከመዝ ፡ ገብሩ ፡ እልክቱ ፡ ፫ጽኑዓን ።
He said, “Be it far from me, Yahweh, that I should do this! Isn’t this the blood of the men who risked their lives to go?” Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.
23:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַאֲבִישַׁ֞י אֲחִ֣י ׀ יוֹאָ֣ב בֶּן ־צְרוּיָ֗ה ה֚וּא רֹ֣אשׁ (השלשי ) [הַשְּׁלֹשָׁ֔ה ] וְהוּא֙ עוֹרֵ֣ר אֶת ־חֲנִית֔וֹ עַל ־שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת חָלָ֑ל וְלוֹ ־שֵׁ֖ם בַּשְּׁלֹשָֽׁה ׃
καὶ Αβεσσα ἀδελφὸς Ιωαβ υἱὸς Σαρουιας αὐτὸς ἄρχων ἐν τοῖς τρισίν καὶ αὐτὸς ἐξήγειρεν τὸ δόρυ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τριακοσίους τραυματίας καὶ αὐτῷ ὄνομα ἐν τοῖς τρισίν
Abisai quoque frater Joab filius Sarviae , princeps erat de tribus : ipse est qui levavit hastam suam contra trecentos , quos interfecit : nominatus in tribus ,
ወአቢሳ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ሶሩህያ ፡ እኁሁ ፡ ለኢዮአብ ፡ መልአኮሙ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ለሠለስቲሆሙ ፡ ወውእቱኒ ፡ አንሥአ ፡ ኵናቶ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ፫፻ወዝንቱ ፡ ምዝጋናሁ ፡ ሎቱኒ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ሠለስቲሆሙ ።
Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of the three. He lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three.
23:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ מִן ־הַשְּׁלֹשָׁה֙ הֲכִ֣י נִכְבָּ֔ד וַיְהִ֥י לָהֶ֖ם לְשָׂ֑ר וְעַד ־הַשְּׁלֹשָׁ֖ה לֹא ־בָֽא ׃ {ס}
ἐκ τῶν τριῶν ἐκείνων ἔνδοξος καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτοῖς εἰς ἄρχοντα καὶ ἕως τῶν τριῶν οὐκ ἦλθεν
et inter tres nobilior , eratque eorum princeps , sed usque ad tres primos non pervenerat .
ወውእቱ ፡ ይከብር ፡ እምነ ፡ ሠለስቲሆሙ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ መልአኮሙ ፡ ወእስከ ፡ ሠለስቲሆሙ ፡ ኢበጽሐ ።
Wasn’t he most honorable of the three? Therefore he was made their captain. However he wasn’t included as one of the three.
23:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּבְנָיָ֨הוּ בֶן ־יְהוֹיָדָ֧ע בֶּן ־אִֽישׁ ־[חַ֛יִל ] (חי ) רַב ־פְּעָלִ֖ים מִֽקַּבְצְאֵ֑ל ה֣וּא הִכָּ֗ה אֵ֣ת שְׁנֵ֤י אֲרִאֵל֙ מוֹאָ֔ב וְ֠ה֠וּא יָרַ֞ד וְהִכָּ֧ה אֶֽת ־[הָאֲרִ֛י ] (האריה ) בְּת֥וֹךְ הַבֹּ֖אר בְּי֥וֹם הַשָּֽׁלֶג ׃
καὶ Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε ἀνὴρ αὐτὸς πολλοστὸς ἔργοις ἀπὸ Καβεσεηλ καὶ αὐτὸς ἐπάταξεν τοὺς δύο υἱοὺς Αριηλ τοῦ Μωαβ καὶ αὐτὸς κατέβη καὶ ἐπάταξε τὸν λέοντα ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ λάκκου ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῆς χιόνος
Et Banaias filius Jojadae viri fortissimi , magnorum operum , de Cabseel . Ipse percussit duos leones Moab , et ipse descendit , et percussit leonem in media cisterna in diebus nivis .
ወባንያስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዮዳሔ ፡ ውእቱኒ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ዘብዙኅ ፡ ዕልገቱ ፡ እምነ ፡ ቀባስሔል ፤ ውእቱ ፡ ቀተሎሙ ፡ ለሞአብ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ [አር ]ኤል ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ወረደ ፡ ወቀተሎሙ ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ እለ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ በዘቅት ፡ አመ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ በረድ ።
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit in a time of snow.
23:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהֽוּא ־הִכָּה֩ אֶת ־אִ֨ישׁ מִצְרִ֜י (אשר ) [אִ֣ישׁ ] מַרְאֶ֗ה וּבְיַ֤ד הַמִּצְרִי֙ חֲנִ֔ית וַיֵּ֥רֶד אֵלָ֖יו בַּשָּׁ֑בֶט וַיִּגְזֹ֤ל אֶֽת ־הַחֲנִית֙ מִיַּ֣ד הַמִּצְרִ֔י וַיַּהַרְגֵ֖הוּ בַּחֲנִיתֽוֹ ׃
αὐτὸς ἐπάταξεν τὸν ἄνδρα τὸν Αἰγύπτιον ἄνδρα ὁρατόν ἐν δὲ τῇ χειρὶ τοῦ Αἰγυπτίου δόρυ ὡς ξύλον διαβάθρας καὶ κατέβη πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐν ῥάβδῳ καὶ ἥρπασεν τὸ δόρυ ἐκ τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ Αἰγυπτίου καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ δόρατι αὐτοῦ
Ipse quoque interfecit virum aegyptium , virum dignum spectaculo , habentem in manu hastam : itaque cum descendisset ad eum in virga , vi extorsit hastam de manu Aegyptii , et interfecit eum hasta sua .
ወውእቱ ፡ ቀተሎ ፡ ለብእሲ ፡ ግብጻዊ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ነኪር ፡ ወውስተ ፡ እዴሁ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ግብጻዊ ፡ ኵናት ፡ ከመ ፡ ሰርዌ ፡ ተንከተም ፡ ወወረደ ፡ ኀቤሁ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ኵናት ፡ ወመሠጠ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ እዴሁ ፡ ኵናቶ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ግብጻዊ ፡ ወቀተሎ ፡ በኵናቱ ።
He killed a huge Egyptian, and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.
23:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ אֵ֣לֶּה עָשָׂ֔ה בְּנָיָ֖הוּ בֶּן ־יְהוֹיָדָ֑ע וְלוֹ ־שֵׁ֖ם בִּשְׁלֹשָׁ֥ה הַגִּבֹּרִֽים ׃
ταῦτα ἐποίησεν Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε καὶ αὐτῷ ὄνομα ἐν τοῖς τρισὶν τοῖς δυνατοῖς
Haec fecit Banaias filius Jojadae .
ወከመዝ ፡ ገብረ ፡ ብንያስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዮዳሔ ፡ ወዝንቱ ፡ ምዝጋናሁ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ሠለስቲሆሙ ።
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things, and had a name among the three mighty men.
23:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ מִן ־הַשְּׁלֹשִׁ֣ים נִכְבָּ֔ד וְאֶל ־הַשְּׁלֹשָׁ֖ה לֹא ־בָ֑א וַיְשִׂמֵ֥הוּ דָוִ֖ד אֶל ־מִשְׁמַעְתּֽוֹ ׃ {ס}
ἐκ τῶν τριῶν ἔνδοξος καὶ πρὸς τοὺς τρεῖς οὐκ ἦλθεν καὶ ἔταξεν αὐτὸν Δαυιδ εἰς τὰς ἀκοὰς αὐτοῦ
Et ipse nominatus inter tres robustos , qui erant inter triginta nobiliores : verumtamen usque ad tres non pervenerat : fecitque eum sibi David auricularium , a secreto .
ወክቡር ፡ እምነ ፡ ሠለስቲሆሙ ፡ ወኢበጽሐ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሠለስቲሆሙ ፡ ወሤሞ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ትእዛዙ ፤ ወዝንቱ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ አስማቲሆሙ ፡ ለጽኑዓኒሁ ፡ ለዳዊት ፤
He was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three. David set him over his guard.
23:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ עֲשָׂהאֵ֥ל אֲחִֽי ־יוֹאָ֖ב בַּשְּׁלֹשִׁ֑ים אֶלְחָנָ֥ן בֶּן ־דֹּד֖וֹ בֵּ֥ית לָֽחֶם ׃ {ס}
καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν δυνατῶν Δαυιδ βασιλέως Ασαηλ ἀδελφὸς Ιωαβ οὗτος ἐν τοῖς τριάκοντα Ελεαναν υἱὸς Δουδι πατραδέλφου αὐτοῦ ἐν Βαιθλεεμ
