1:1
אֵ֣לֶּה הַדְּבָרִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֤ר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּעֵ֖בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן בַּמִּדְבָּ֡ר בָּֽעֲרָבָה֩ מ֨וֹל ס֜וּף בֵּֽין־פָּארָ֧ן וּבֵֽין־תֹּ֛פֶל וְלָבָ֥ן וַחֲצֵרֹ֖ת וְדִ֥י זָהָֽב׃
οὗτοι οἱ λόγοι οὓς ἐλάλησεν Μωυσῆς παντὶ Ισραηλ πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ πρὸς δυσμαῖς πλησίον τῆς ἐρυθρᾶς ἀνὰ μέσον Φαραν Τοφολ καὶ Λοβον καὶ Αυλων καὶ καταχρύσεα
Haec sunt verba quae locutus est Moyses ad omnem Israël trans Jordanem in solitudine campestri, contra mare Rubrum, inter Pharan et Tophel et Laban et Haseroth, ubi auri est plurimum :
(:ኦሪት ፡ ዘዳግም ።)ዝንቱ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ነገር ፡ ዘነገሮሙ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ በማዕዶተ ፡ ዮርዳንስ ፡ መንገለ ፡ ዐረቢሁ ፡ በኀበ ፡ ባሕረ ፡ [ኤ]ርትራ ፡ በማእከለ ፡ ፋራን ፡ ጦፌል ፡ ወሎቦን ፡ ወአውሎን ፡ ወዘክሪስያ ፤
These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel beyond the Jordan in the wilderness, in the Arabah opposite Suf, between Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab.
1:2
אַחַ֨ד עָשָׂ֥ר יוֹם֙ מֵֽחֹרֵ֔ב דֶּ֖רֶךְ הַר־שֵׂעִ֑יר עַ֖ד קָדֵ֥שׁ בַּרְנֵֽעַ׃
ἕνδεκα ἡμερῶν ἐν Χωρηβ ὁδὸς ἐπ’ ὄρος Σηιρ ἕως Καδης Βαρνη
undecim diebus de Horeb per viam montis Seir usque ad Cadesbarne.
በዐሡር ፡ መዋዕል ፡ እምኮሬብ ፡ በፍኖተ ፡ ደብረ ፡ ሴይር ፡ እስከ ፡ ቃዴስ ፡ በርኔ ።
It is eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea.
1:3
וַֽיְהִי֙ בְּאַרְבָּעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה בְּעַשְׁתֵּֽי־עָשָׂ֥ר חֹ֖דֶשׁ בְּאֶחָ֣ד לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ דִּבֶּ֤ר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כְּ֠כֹ֠ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֧ה יְהֹוָ֛ה אֹת֖וֹ אֲלֵהֶֽם׃
καὶ ἐγενήθη ἐν τῷ τεσσαρακοστῷ ἔτει ἐν τῷ ἑνδεκάτῳ μηνὶ μιᾷ τοῦ μηνὸς ἐλάλησεν Μωυσῆς πρὸς πάντας υἱοὺς Ισραηλ κατὰ πάντα ὅσα ἐνετείλατο κύριος αὐτῷ πρὸς αὐτούς
Quadragesimo anno, undecimo mense, prima die mensis, locutus est Moyses ad filios Israël omnia quae praeceperat illi Dominus, ut diceret eis,
ወኮነ ፡ አመ ፡ አርብዓ ፡ ዓም ፡ አመ ፡ ዐሠርቱ ፡ ወአሐዱ ፡ አውራኅ ፡ አመ ፡ ሠርቀ ፡ ወርኅ ፡ ነገሮሙ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዘአዘዞ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ይንግሮሙ ፤
In the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, Moses spoke to the children of Israel according to all that Yahweh had given him in commandment to them,
1:4
אַחֲרֵ֣י הַכֹּת֗וֹ אֵ֚ת סִיחֹן֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הָֽאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר יוֹשֵׁ֖ב בְּחֶשְׁבּ֑וֹן וְאֵ֗ת ע֚וֹג מֶ֣לֶךְ הַבָּשָׁ֔ן אֲשֶׁר־יוֹשֵׁ֥ב בְּעַשְׁתָּרֹ֖ת בְּאֶדְרֶֽעִי׃
μετὰ τὸ πατάξαι Σηων βασιλέα Αμορραίων τὸν κατοικήσαντα ἐν Εσεβων καὶ Ωγ βασιλέα τῆς Βασαν τὸν κατοικήσαντα ἐν Ασταρωθ καὶ ἐν Εδραϊν
postquam percussit Sehon regem Amorrhaeorum, qui habitabat in Hesebon, et Og regem Basan, qui mansit in Astaroth, et in Edrai,
እምድኅረ ፡ ቀተልዎ ፡ ለሴዎን ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ አሞሬዎን ፡ ዘይነብር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሔሴቦን ፡ ወአግ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ባሳን ፡ ዘይነብር ፡ ውስተ ፡ አስጣሮት ፡ ወኤ(ኔ)ድራይን ፡ በማዕዶተ ፡ ዮርዳንስ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ሞአብ ፤
after he had struck Sihon the king of the Amorites who lived in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan who lived in Ashtaroth, at Edrei.
1:5
בְּעֵ֥בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מוֹאָ֑ב הוֹאִ֣יל מֹשֶׁ֔ה בֵּאֵ֛ר אֶת־הַתּוֹרָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את לֵאמֹֽר׃
ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἐν γῇ Μωαβ ἤρξατο Μωυσῆς διασαφῆσαι τὸν νόμον τοῦτον λέγων
trans Jordanem in terra Moab. Coepitque Moyses explanare legem, et dicere :
ወአኀዘ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ይንግር ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ሕገ ፡ ወይቤ ።
Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses began to declare this law, saying,

יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהֵ֛ינוּ דִּבֶּ֥ר אֵלֵ֖ינוּ בְּחֹרֵ֣ב לֵאמֹ֑ר רַב־לָכֶ֥ם שֶׁ֖בֶת בָּהָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃
κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν ἐλάλησεν ἡμῖν ἐν Χωρηβ λέγων ἱκανούσθω ὑμῖν κατοικεῖν ἐν τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ
Dominus Deus noster locutus est ad nos in Horeb, dicens : Sufficit vobis quod in hoc monte mansistis :
እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክነ ፡ ነገረነ ፡ በኮሬብ ፡ ወይቤለነ ፡ የአክለክሙ ፡ [ኀዲሮቱ ፡] ውስተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ደብር ።
“Yahweh our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying, ‘You have lived long enough at this mountain.
1:7
פְּנ֣וּ׀ וּסְע֣וּ לָכֶ֗ם וּבֹ֨אוּ הַ֥ר הָֽאֱמֹרִי֮ וְאֶל־כׇּל־שְׁכֵנָיו֒ בָּעֲרָבָ֥ה בָהָ֛ר וּבַשְּׁפֵלָ֥ה וּבַנֶּ֖גֶב וּבְח֣וֹף הַיָּ֑ם אֶ֤רֶץ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ וְהַלְּבָנ֔וֹן עַד־הַנָּהָ֥ר הַגָּדֹ֖ל נְהַר־פְּרָֽת׃
ἐπιστράφητε καὶ ἀπάρατε ὑμεῖς καὶ εἰσπορεύεσθε εἰς ὄρος Αμορραίων καὶ πρὸς πάντας τοὺς περιοίκους Αραβα εἰς ὄρος καὶ πεδίον καὶ πρὸς λίβα καὶ παραλίαν γῆν Χαναναίων καὶ Ἀντιλίβανον ἕως τοῦ ποταμοῦ τοῦ μεγάλου Εὐφράτου
revertimini, et venite ad montem Amorrhaeorum, et ad cetera quae ei proxima sunt campestria atque montana et humiliora loca contra meridiem, et juxta littus maris, terram Chananaeorum, et Libani usque ad flumen magnum Euphraten.
ተንሥኡ ፡ እንከ ፡ ወግብኡ ፡ ወባኡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብረ ፡ አሞሬዎን ፡ ወውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ መኃድረ ፡ አራባ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብሩ ፡ ወውስተ ፡ ገዳሙ ፡ ወውስተ ፡ ሊባ ፡ ወውስተ ፡ ጰራሊያ ፡ ዘምድረ ፡ ከናአን ፡ ወአንጢሊባኖን ፡ እስከ ፡ ፈለግ ፡ ዐቢይ ፡ ፈለገ ፡ [ኤፍራ]ጥስ ።
Turn, and take your journey, and go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the places near there: in the Arabah, in the hill country, in the lowland, in the South, by the seashore, in the land of the Canaanites, and in Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates.
1:8
רְאֵ֛ה נָתַ֥תִּי לִפְנֵיכֶ֖ם אֶת־הָאָ֑רֶץ בֹּ֚אוּ וּרְשׁ֣וּ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִשְׁבַּ֣ע יְ֠הֹוָ֠ה לַאֲבֹ֨תֵיכֶ֜ם לְאַבְרָהָ֨ם לְיִצְחָ֤ק וּֽלְיַעֲקֹב֙ לָתֵ֣ת לָהֶ֔ם וּלְזַרְעָ֖ם אַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃
ἴδετε παραδέδωκα ἐνώπιον ὑμῶν τὴν γῆν εἰσπορευθέντες κληρονομήσατε τὴν γῆν ἣν ὤμοσα τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν τῷ Αβρααμ καὶ Ισαακ καὶ Ιακωβ δοῦναι αὐτοῖς καὶ τῷ σπέρματι αὐτῶν μετ’ αὐτούς
En, inquit, tradidi vobis : ingredimini et possidete eam, super qua juravit Dominus patribus vestris Abraham, Isaac, et Jacob, ut daret illam eis, et semini eorum post eos.
ናሁ ፡ ወሀብኩክሙዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ መሐልኩ ፡ ለአበዊክሙ ፡ ቅድሜክሙ ፡ ለአብርሃም ፡ ወለይስሐቅ ፡ ወለያዕቆብ ፡ ከመ ፡ አሀቦሙ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ወለዘርኦሙ ፡ እምድኅሬሆሙ ፡ ምድረ ፡ እንተ ፡ ትውኅዝ ፡ ሐሊበ ፡ ወመዓረ ።
Behold, I have set the land before you. Go in and possess the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers—to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob—to give to them and to their offspring after them.’”
1:9
וָאֹמַ֣ר אֲלֵכֶ֔ם בָּעֵ֥ת הַהִ֖וא לֵאמֹ֑ר לֹא־אוּכַ֥ל לְבַדִּ֖י שְׂאֵ֥ת אֶתְכֶֽם׃
καὶ εἶπα πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ λέγων οὐ δυνήσομαι μόνος φέρειν ὑμᾶς
Dixique vobis illo in tempore :
ወእቤለክሙ ፡ በውእቶን ፡ መዋዕል ፡ እንዘ ፡ እብል ፡ ኢይክል ፡ ባሕቲትየ ፡ ክሂሎተክሙ ።
I spoke to you at that time, saying, “I am not able to bear you myself alone.
1:10
יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם הִרְבָּ֣ה אֶתְכֶ֑ם וְהִנְּכֶ֣ם הַיּ֔וֹם כְּכוֹכְבֵ֥י הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם לָרֹֽב׃
κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν ἐπλήθυνεν ὑμᾶς καὶ ἰδού ἐστε σήμερον ὡσεὶ τὰ ἄστρα τοῦ οὐρανοῦ τῷ πλήθει
Non possum solus sustinere vos : quia Dominus Deus vester multiplicavit vos, et estis hodie sicut stellae caeli, plurimi.
እስመ ፡ አብዝኀነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክነ ፡ ወናሁ ፡ ብዙኃን ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ዮም ፡ ከመ ፡ ከዋክብተ ፡ ሰማይ ።
Yahweh your God has multiplied you, and behold, you are today as the stars of the sky for multitude.
1:11
יְהֹוָ֞ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י אֲבֽוֹתֵכֶ֗ם יֹסֵ֧ף עֲלֵיכֶ֛ם כָּכֶ֖ם אֶ֣לֶף פְּעָמִ֑ים וִיבָרֵ֣ךְ אֶתְכֶ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר דִּבֶּ֥ר לָכֶֽם׃
κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῶν πατέρων ὑμῶν προσθείη ὑμῖν ὡς ἐστὲ χιλιοπλασίως καὶ εὐλογήσαι ὑμᾶς καθότι ἐλάλησεν ὑμῖν
(Dominus Deus patrum vestrorum addat ad hunc numerum multa millia, et benedicat vobis sicut locutus est.)
ወያብዝኅክሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላኮሙ ፡ ለአበዊክሙ ፡ ምእልፊተ ፡ ወለይባርክሙ ፡ በከመ ፡ ይቤለክሙ ።
May Yahweh, the God of your fathers, make you a thousand times as many as you are and bless you, as he has promised you!
1:12
אֵיכָ֥ה אֶשָּׂ֖א לְבַדִּ֑י טׇרְחֲכֶ֥ם וּמַֽשַּׂאֲכֶ֖ם וְרִֽיבְכֶֽם׃
πῶς δυνήσομαι μόνος φέρειν τὸν κόπον ὑμῶν καὶ τὴν ὑπόστασιν ὑμῶν καὶ τὰς ἀντιλογίας ὑμῶν
Non valeo solus negotia vestra sustinere, et pondus ac jurgia.
ወእፎ ፡ እክል ፡ ባሕቲትየ ፡ ጻማክሙ ፡ ወሥራሐክሙ ፡ ወተባህሎተክሙ ።
How can I myself alone bear your problems, your burdens, and your strife?
1:13
הָב֣וּ לָ֠כֶ֠ם אֲנָשִׁ֨ים חֲכָמִ֧ים וּנְבֹנִ֛ים וִידֻעִ֖ים לְשִׁבְטֵיכֶ֑ם וַאֲשִׂימֵ֖ם בְּרָאשֵׁיכֶֽם׃
δότε ἑαυτοῖς ἄνδρας σοφοὺς καὶ ἐπιστήμονας καὶ συνετοὺς εἰς τὰς φυλὰς ὑμῶν καὶ καταστήσω ἐφ’ ὑμῶν ἡγουμένους ὑμῶν
Date ex vobis viros sapientes et gnaros, et quorum conversatio sit probata in tribubus vestris, ut ponam eos vobis principes.
አውፅኡ ፡ ለክሙ ፡ ዕደወ ፡ ጠቢባነ ፡ ወለባውያነ ፡ ወማእምራነ ፡ ዘዘ ፡ ነገድክሙ ፡ ወእሠይሞሙ ፡ ለክሙ ፡ መሳፍንቲክሙ ።
Take wise men of understanding who are respected among your tribes, and I will make them heads over you.”
1:14
וַֽתַּעֲנ֖וּ אֹתִ֑י וַתֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ טֽוֹב־הַדָּבָ֥ר אֲשֶׁר־דִּבַּ֖רְתָּ לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθητέ μοι καὶ εἴπατε καλὸν τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ ἐλάλησας ποιῆσαι
Tunc respondistis mihi : Bona res est, quam vis facere.
ወአውሣእክሙኒ ፡ ወትቤሉኒ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ቃል ፡ ወትቤሉኒ ፡ ግበር ፡ ከማሁ ።
You answered me, and said, “The thing which you have spoken is good to do.”
1:15
וָאֶקַּ֞ח אֶת־רָאשֵׁ֣י שִׁבְטֵיכֶ֗ם אֲנָשִׁ֤ים חֲכָמִים֙ וִֽידֻעִ֔ים וָאֶתֵּ֥ן אוֹתָ֛ם רָאשִׁ֖ים עֲלֵיכֶ֑ם שָׂרֵ֨י אֲלָפִ֜ים וְשָׂרֵ֣י מֵא֗וֹת וְשָׂרֵ֤י חֲמִשִּׁים֙ וְשָׂרֵ֣י עֲשָׂרֹ֔ת וְשֹׁטְרִ֖ים לְשִׁבְטֵיכֶֽם׃
καὶ ἔλαβον ἐξ ὑμῶν ἄνδρας σοφοὺς καὶ ἐπιστήμονας καὶ συνετοὺς καὶ κατέστησα αὐτοὺς ἡγεῖσθαι ἐφ’ ὑμῶν χιλιάρχους καὶ ἑκατοντάρχους καὶ πεντηκοντάρχους καὶ δεκαδάρχους καὶ γραμματοεισαγωγεῖς τοῖς κριταῖς ὑμῶν
Tulique de tribubus vestris viros sapientes et nobiles, et constitui eos principes, tribunos, et centuriones, et quinquagenarios ac decanos, qui docerent vos singula.
ወነሣእኩ ፡ እምውስቴትክሙ ፡ ዕደወ ፡ ጠቢባነ ፡ ወማእምራነ ፡ ወለባውያነ ፡ ወሤምክዎሙ ፡ ላዕሌክሙ ፡ ይኩኑክሙ ፡ ሐበይተ ፡ ወመሳፍንተ ፡ ወነገሥተ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወሊቃናተ ፡ ወጸሐፍቶሙ ፡ ለመኳንንቲክሙ ።
So I took the heads of your tribes, wise and respected men, and made them heads over you, captains of thousands, captains of hundreds, captains of fifties, captains of tens, and officers, according to your tribes.
1:16
וָאֲצַוֶּה֙ אֶת־שֹׁ֣פְטֵיכֶ֔ם בָּעֵ֥ת הַהִ֖וא לֵאמֹ֑ר שָׁמֹ֤עַ בֵּין־אֲחֵיכֶם֙ וּשְׁפַטְתֶּ֣ם צֶ֔דֶק בֵּֽין־אִ֥ישׁ וּבֵין־אָחִ֖יו וּבֵ֥ין גֵּרֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἐνετειλάμην τοῖς κριταῖς ὑμῶν ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ λέγων διακούετε ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ἀδελφῶν ὑμῶν καὶ κρίνατε δικαίως ἀνὰ μέσον ἀνδρὸς καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον ἀδελφοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον προσηλύτου αὐτοῦ
Praecepique eis, dicens : Audite illos, et quod justum est judicate : sive civis sit ille, sive peregrinus.
ወእቤሎሙ ፡ በውእቶን ፡ መዋዕል ፡ ስምዑ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ አኀዊክሙ ፡ ወአግብኡ ፡ ፍትሐ ፡ በጽድቅ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ወእኁሁ ፡ ወማእከለ ፡ ግዩር ።
I commanded your judges at that time, saying, “Hear cases between your brothers and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the foreigner who is living with him.
1:17
לֹֽא־תַכִּ֨ירוּ פָנִ֜ים בַּמִּשְׁפָּ֗ט כַּקָּטֹ֤ן כַּגָּדֹל֙ תִּשְׁמָע֔וּן לֹ֤א תָג֙וּרוּ֙ מִפְּנֵי־אִ֔ישׁ כִּ֥י הַמִּשְׁפָּ֖ט לֵאלֹהִ֣ים ה֑וּא וְהַדָּבָר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִקְשֶׁ֣ה מִכֶּ֔ם תַּקְרִב֥וּן אֵלַ֖י וּשְׁמַעְתִּֽיו׃
οὐκ ἐπιγνώσῃ πρόσωπον ἐν κρίσει κατὰ τὸν μικρὸν καὶ κατὰ τὸν μέγαν κρινεῖς οὐ μὴ ὑποστείλῃ πρόσωπον ἀνθρώπου ὅτι ἡ κρίσις τοῦ θεοῦ ἐστιν καὶ τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ ἐὰν σκληρὸν ᾖ ἀφ’ ὑμῶν ἀνοίσετε αὐτὸ ἐπ’ ἐμέ καὶ ἀκούσομαι αὐτό
Nulla erit distantia personarum : ita parvum audietis ut magnum, nec accipietis cujusquam personam, quia Dei judicium est. Quod si difficile vobis visum aliquid fuerit, referte ad me, et ego audiam.
ወኢትንሣእ ፡ ገጸ ፡ በፍትሕ ፡ ኢለንኡስ ፡ ወኢለዐቢይ ፡ ኰንን ፡ ወኢትንሣእ ፡ ገጸ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ እስመ ፡ ፍትሕ ፡ ዘእግዚአብሔር ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወለእመቦ ፡ ዘተዐጸበክሙ ፡ ነገር ፡ ታዐርጉ ፡ ኀቤየ ፡ ወእሰምዖ ።
You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not be afraid of the face of man, for the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.”
1:18
וָאֲצַוֶּ֥ה אֶתְכֶ֖ם בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֑וא אֵ֥ת כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּעֲשֽׂוּן׃
καὶ ἐνετειλάμην ὑμῖν ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ πάντας τοὺς λόγους οὓς ποιήσετε
Praecepique omnia quae facere deberetis.
ወአዘዝኩክሙ ፡ በውእቶን ፡ መዋዕል ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዘትገብሩ ፡ ቃለ ።
I commanded you at that time all the things which you should do.
1:19
וַנִּסַּ֣ע מֵחֹרֵ֗ב וַנֵּ֡לֶךְ אֵ֣ת כׇּל־הַמִּדְבָּ֣ר הַגָּדוֹל֩ וְהַנּוֹרָ֨א הַה֜וּא אֲשֶׁ֣ר רְאִיתֶ֗ם דֶּ֚רֶךְ הַ֣ר הָֽאֱמֹרִ֔י כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוָּ֛ה יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ אֹתָ֑נוּ וַנָּבֹ֕א עַ֖ד קָדֵ֥שׁ בַּרְנֵֽעַ׃
καὶ ἀπάραντες ἐκ Χωρηβ ἐπορεύθημεν πᾶσαν τὴν ἔρημον τὴν μεγάλην καὶ τὴν φοβερὰν ἐκείνην ἣν εἴδετε ὁδὸν ὄρους τοῦ Αμορραίου καθότι ἐνετείλατο κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν ἡμῖν καὶ ἤλθομεν ἕως Καδης Βαρνη
Profecti autem de Horeb, transivimus per eremum terribilem et maximam, quam vidistis, per viam montis Amorrhaei, sicut praeceperat Dominus Deus noster nobis. Cumque venissemus in Cadesbarne,
ወግዕዝነ ፡ እምነ ፡ ኮሬብ ፡ ወሖርነ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዝክተ ፡ ገዳመ ፡ ዐቢየ ፡ ወግሩመ ፡ ዘርኢክሙ ፡ በፍኖተ ፡ ደብረ ፡ አሞሬዎን ፡ በከመ ፡ አዘዘነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክነ ፡ ወበጻሕነ ፡ እስከ ፡ ቃዴስ ፡ በርኔ ።
We traveled from Horeb and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you saw, by the way to the hill country of the Amorites, as Yahweh our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh Barnea.
1:20
וָאֹמַ֖ר אֲלֵכֶ֑ם בָּאתֶם֙ עַד־הַ֣ר הָאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁר־יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ נֹתֵ֥ן לָֽנוּ׃
καὶ εἶπα πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἤλθατε ἕως τοῦ ὄρους τοῦ Αμορραίου ὃ ὁ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν δίδωσιν ὑμῖν
dixi vobis : Venistis ad montem Amorrhaei, quem Dominus Deus noster daturus est nobis :
ወነገርኩክሙ ፡ በውእቶን ፡ መዋዕል ፡ ወእቤለክሙ ፡ ብጽሑ ፡ እስከ ፡ ደብረ ፡ አሞሬዎን ፡ ዘይሁበክሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክክሙ ።
I said to you, “You have come to the hill country of the Amorites, which Yahweh our God gives to us.
1:21
רְ֠אֵ֠ה נָתַ֨ן יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ לְפָנֶ֖יךָ אֶת־הָאָ֑רֶץ עֲלֵ֣ה רֵ֗שׁ כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ דִּבֶּ֨ר יְהֹוָ֜ה אֱלֹהֵ֤י אֲבֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ לָ֔ךְ אַל־תִּירָ֖א וְאַל־תֵּחָֽת׃
ἴδετε παραδέδωκεν ὑμῖν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν πρὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν τὴν γῆν ἀναβάντες κληρονομήσατε ὃν τρόπον εἶπεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῶν πατέρων ὑμῶν ὑμῖν μὴ φοβεῖσθε μηδὲ δειλιάσητε
vide terram, quam Dominus Deus tuus dat tibi : ascende et posside eam, sicut locutus est Dominus Deus noster patribus tuis : noli timere, nec quidquam paveas.
ወናሁ ፡ ርእዩ ፡ ከመ ፡ ወሀበክሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ [አምላክክሙ ፡ ይእተ ፡ ምድረ ፡] ቅድመ ፡ ገጽክሙ ፡ ዕረጉ ፡ እንከ ፡ ወተዋረስዋ ፡ በከመ ፡ ይቤሎሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላኮሙ ፡ ለአበዊነ ፡ ወኢትፍርሁ ፡ ወኢትደንግፁ ።
Behold, Yahweh your God has set the land before you. Go up, take possession, as Yahweh the God of your fathers has spoken to you. Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed.”
1:22
וַתִּקְרְב֣וּן אֵלַי֮ כֻּלְּכֶם֒ וַתֹּאמְר֗וּ נִשְׁלְחָ֤ה אֲנָשִׁים֙ לְפָנֵ֔ינוּ וְיַחְפְּרוּ־לָ֖נוּ אֶת־הָאָ֑רֶץ וְיָשִׁ֤בוּ אֹתָ֙נוּ֙ דָּבָ֔ר אֶת־הַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נַעֲלֶה־בָּ֔הּ וְאֵת֙ הֶֽעָרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָבֹ֖א אֲלֵיהֶֽן׃
καὶ προσήλθατέ μοι πάντες καὶ εἴπατε ἀποστείλωμεν ἄνδρας προτέρους ἡμῶν καὶ ἐφοδευσάτωσαν ἡμῖν τὴν γῆν καὶ ἀναγγειλάτωσαν ἡμῖν ἀπόκρισιν τὴν ὁδόν δῑ ἧς ἀναβησόμεθα ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ τὰς πόλεις εἰς ἃς εἰσπορευσόμεθα εἰς αὐτάς
Et accessistis ad me omnes, atque dixistis : Mittamus viros qui considerent terram : et renuntient per quod iter debeamus ascendere, et ad quas pergere civitates.
ወእምዝ ፡ መጻእክሙ ፡ ኵልክሙ ፡ ኀቤየ ፡ ወትቤሉኒ ፡ ንፈኑ ፡ ዕደወ ፡ ቅድሜነ ፡ ወይርአይዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ለነ ፡ ወይዜንውነ ፡ ዜናሃ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ፍኖት ፡ እንተ ፡ ሀለወተነ ፡ ንዕረግ ፡ ውስቴታ ፡ ወኦህጉርኒ ፡ እለ ፡ ሀለወነ ፡ ንባአ ፡ ውስቴቶን ።
You came near to me, everyone of you, and said, “Let’s send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring back to us word of the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come.”
1:23
וַיִּיטַ֥ב בְּעֵינַ֖י הַדָּבָ֑ר וָאֶקַּ֤ח מִכֶּם֙ שְׁנֵ֣ים עָשָׂ֣ר אֲנָשִׁ֔ים אִ֥ישׁ אֶחָ֖ד לַשָּֽׁבֶט׃
καὶ ἤρεσεν ἐναντίον μου τὸ ῥῆμα καὶ ἔλαβον ἐξ ὑμῶν δώδεκα ἄνδρας ἄνδρα ἕνα κατὰ φυλήν
Cumque mihi sermo placuisset, misi ex vobis duodecim viros, singulos de tribubus suis.
ወአደመኒ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ነገር ፡ ወነሣእኩ ፡ እምውስቴትክሙ ፡ ፀሠርተ ፡ ወክልኤተ ፡ ዕደወ ፡ በበ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ነገድ ።
The thing pleased me well. I took twelve of your men, one man for every tribe.
1:24
וַיִּפְנוּ֙ וַיַּעֲל֣וּ הָהָ֔רָה וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ עַד־נַ֣חַל אֶשְׁכֹּ֑ל וַֽיְרַגְּל֖וּ אֹתָֽהּ׃
καὶ ἐπιστραφέντες ἀνέβησαν εἰς τὸ ὄρος καὶ ἤλθοσαν ἕως Φάραγγος βότρυος καὶ κατεσκόπευσαν αὐτήν
Qui cum perrexissent, et ascendissent in montana, venerunt usque ad Vallem botri : et considerata terra,
ወተመይጡ ፡ ወዐርጉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ [ደብር ፡ ወበጽሑ ፡ ውስተ ፡] ቈላተ ፡ ዐጽቅ ፡ ወርእዩ ።
They turned and went up into the hill country, and came to the valley of Eshcol, and spied it out.
1:25
וַיִּקְח֤וּ בְיָדָם֙ מִפְּרִ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ וַיּוֹרִ֖דוּ אֵלֵ֑ינוּ וַיָּשִׁ֨בוּ אֹתָ֤נוּ דָבָר֙ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ טוֹבָ֣ה הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ נֹתֵ֥ן לָֽנוּ׃
καὶ ἐλάβοσαν ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τοῦ καρποῦ τῆς γῆς καὶ κατήνεγκαν πρὸς ἡμᾶς καὶ ἔλεγον ἀγαθὴ ἡ γῆ ἣν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν δίδωσιν ἡμῖν
sumentes de fructibus ejus, ut ostenderent ubertatem, attulerunt ad nos, atque dixerunt : Bona est terra, quam Dominus Deus noster daturus est nobis.
ወነሥኡ ፡ ምስሌሆሙ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ፍሬሃ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወአምጽኡ ፡ ኀቤነ ፡ ወንቤ ፡ ሠናይት ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ ይሁበነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክነ ።
They took some of the fruit of the land in their hands and brought it down to us, and brought us word again, and said, “It is a good land which Yahweh our God gives to us.”
1:26
וְלֹ֥א אֲבִיתֶ֖ם לַעֲלֹ֑ת וַתַּמְר֕וּ אֶת־פִּ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃
καὶ οὐκ ἠθελήσατε ἀναβῆναι καὶ ἠπειθήσατε τῷ ῥήματι κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν
Et noluistis ascendere, sed increduli ad sermonem Domini Dei nostri,
ወአበይክሙ ፡ ዐሪገ ፡ ወክሕድክሙ ፡ በቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክክሙ ።
Yet you wouldn’t go up, but rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh your God.
1:27
וַתֵּרָגְנ֤וּ בְאׇהֳלֵיכֶם֙ וַתֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ בְּשִׂנְאַ֤ת יְהֹוָה֙ אֹתָ֔נוּ הוֹצִיאָ֖נוּ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם לָתֵ֥ת אֹתָ֛נוּ בְּיַ֥ד הָאֱמֹרִ֖י לְהַשְׁמִידֵֽנוּ׃
καὶ διεγογγύζετε ἐν ταῖς σκηναῖς ὑμῶν καὶ εἴπατε διὰ τὸ μισεῖν κύριον ἡμᾶς ἐξήγαγεν ἡμᾶς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου παραδοῦναι ἡμᾶς εἰς χεῖρας Αμορραίων ἐξολεθρεῦσαι ἡμᾶς
murmurastis in tabernaculis vestris, atque dixistis : Odit nos Dominus, et idcirco eduxit nos de terra Aegypti, ut traderet nos in manu Amorrhaei, atque deleret.
ወአንጐርጐርክሙ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ተዓይኒክሙ ፡ ወትቤሉ ፡ እስመ ፡ ይጸልአነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አውፅአነ ፡ እምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ከመ ፡ ያግብአነ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እዴሆሙ ፡ ለአሞሬዎን ፡ ከመ ፡ ይሠርውነ ።
You murmured in your tents, and said, “Because Yahweh hated us, he has brought us out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites to destroy us.
1:28
אָנָ֣ה׀ אֲנַ֣חְנוּ עֹלִ֗ים אַחֵ֩ינוּ֩ הֵמַ֨סּוּ אֶת־לְבָבֵ֜נוּ לֵאמֹ֗ר עַ֣ם גָּד֤וֹל וָרָם֙ מִמֶּ֔נּוּ עָרִ֛ים גְּדֹלֹ֥ת וּבְצוּרֹ֖ת בַּשָּׁמָ֑יִם וְגַם־בְּנֵ֥י עֲנָקִ֖ים רָאִ֥ינוּ שָֽׁם׃
ποῦ ἡμεῖς ἀναβαίνομεν οἱ ἀδελφοὶ ὑμῶν ἀπέστησαν ὑμῶν τὴν καρδίαν λέγοντες ἔθνος μέγα καὶ πολὺ καὶ δυνατώτερον ἡμῶν καὶ πόλεις μεγάλαι καὶ τετειχισμέναι ἕως τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἀλλὰ καὶ υἱοὺς γιγάντων ἑωράκαμεν ἐκεῖ
Quo ascendemus ? nuntii terruerunt cor nostrum, dicentes : Maxima multitudo est, et nobis statura procerior ; urbes magnae, et ad caelum usque munitae : filios Enacim vidimus ibi.
አይቴ ፡ እንከ ፡ ነዐርግ ፡ ንሕነ ፤ ወባሕቱ ፡ አኀዊክሙ ፡ አክሐድዎ ፡ ለልብክሙ ፡ ወይቤሉክሙ ፡ ዐቢይ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወብዙኅ ፡ ወይጸንዑ ፡ እምኔነ ፡ ወአህጉሪሆሙኒ ፡ ዐበይት ፡ ወቦንቱ ፡ ጥቅመ ፡ ዘይበጽሕ ፡ እስከ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወርኢነ ፡ በህየ ፡ ደቂቆሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ያርብሕ ።
Where are we going up? Our brothers have made our heart melt, saying, ‘The people are greater and taller than we. The cities are great and fortified up to the sky. Moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there!’”
1:29
וָאֹמַ֖ר אֲלֵכֶ֑ם לֹא־תַעַרְצ֥וּן וְלֹא־תִֽירְא֖וּן מֵהֶֽם׃
καὶ εἶπα πρὸς ὑμᾶς μὴ πτήξητε μηδὲ φοβηθῆτε ἀπ’ αὐτῶν
Et dixi vobis : Nolite metuere, nec timeatis eos :
ወእቤለክሙ ፡ በውእቶን ፡ መዋዕል ፡ (ወ)ኢትፍርሁ ፡ ወኢትደንግፁ ፡ እምኔሆሙ ።
Then I said to you, “Don’t be terrified. Don’t be afraid of them.
1:30
יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ הַהֹלֵ֣ךְ לִפְנֵיכֶ֔ם ה֖וּא יִלָּחֵ֣ם לָכֶ֑ם כְּ֠כֹ֠ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשָׂ֧ה אִתְּכֶ֛ם בְּמִצְרַ֖יִם לְעֵינֵיכֶֽם׃
κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν ὁ προπορευόμενος πρὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν αὐτὸς συνεκπολεμήσει αὐτοὺς μεθ’ ὑμῶν κατὰ πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησεν ὑμῖν ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ
Dominus Deus, qui ductor est vester, pro vobis ipse pugnabit, sicut fecit in Aegypto cunctis videntibus.
እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክክሙ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ይፀብእ ፡ ምስሌክሙ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘየሐውር ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ገጽክሙ ፡ በከመ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዘገብረ ፡ ለክሙ ፡ በምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፤
Yahweh your God, who goes before you, he will fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes,
1:31
וּבַמִּדְבָּר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר רָאִ֔יתָ אֲשֶׁ֤ר נְשָׂאֲךָ֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר יִשָּׂא־אִ֖ישׁ אֶת־בְּנ֑וֹ בְּכׇל־הַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֲלַכְתֶּ֔ם עַד־בֹּאֲכֶ֖ם עַד־הַמָּק֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
καὶ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ταύτῃ ἣν εἴδετε ὡς ἐτροφοφόρησέν σε κύριος ὁ θεός σου ὡς εἴ τις τροφοφορήσει ἄνθρωπος τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ κατὰ πᾶσαν τὴν ὁδόν ἣν ἐπορεύθητε ἕως ἤλθετε εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦτον
Et in solitudine (ipse vidisti) portavit te Dominus Deus tuus, ut solet homo gestare parvulum filium suum, in omni via per quam ambulastis, donec veniretis ad locum istum.
ወበውስተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ዘርኢክሙ ፡ ዘከመ ፡ ሴሰየከ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክከ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይሴሲ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ወልዶ ፡ በኵሉ ፡ ፍኖት ፡ እንተ ፡ ሖርክሙ ፡ እስከ ፡ በጻሕክሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ መካን ።
and in the wilderness where you have seen how that Yahweh your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went, until you came to this place.”
1:32
וּבַדָּבָ֖ר הַזֶּ֑ה אֵֽינְכֶם֙ מַאֲמִינִ֔ם בַּיהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃
καὶ ἐν τῷ λόγῳ τούτῳ οὐκ ἐνεπιστεύσατε κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ ὑμῶν
Et nec sic quidem credidistis Domino Deo vestro,
ወኢአመንክምዎ ፡ በዝንቱ ፡ ቃል ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክክሙ ፤
Yet in this thing you didn’t believe Yahweh your God,
1:33
הַהֹלֵ֨ךְ לִפְנֵיכֶ֜ם בַּדֶּ֗רֶךְ לָת֥וּר לָכֶ֛ם מָק֖וֹם לַחֲנֹֽתְכֶ֑ם בָּאֵ֣שׁ׀ לַ֗יְלָה לַרְאֹֽתְכֶם֙ בַּדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תֵּֽלְכוּ־בָ֔הּ וּבֶעָנָ֖ן יוֹמָֽם׃
ὃς προπορεύεται πρότερος ὑμῶν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ ἐκλέγεσθαι ὑμῖν τόπον ὁδηγῶν ὑμᾶς ἐν πυρὶ νυκτὸς δεικνύων ὑμῖν τὴν ὁδόν καθ’ ἣν πορεύεσθε ἐπ’ αὐτῆς καὶ ἐν νεφέλῃ ἡμέρας
qui praecessit vos in via, et metatus est locum in quo tentoria figere deberetis, nocte ostendens vobis iter per ignem, et die per columnam nubis.
ዘየሐውር ፡ ቅድሜክሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ፍኖት ፡ ከመ ፡ ይኅረይ ፡ ለክሙ ፡ መካነ ፡ ወይምራሕክሙ ፡ ሌሊተ ፡ በእሳት ፡ ከመ ፡ ያርኢክሙ ፡ ፍኖተ ፡ እንተ ፡ ተሐውሩ ፡ ውስቴታ ፡ ወመዓልተኒ ፡ በደመና ።
who went before you on the way, to seek out a place for you to pitch your tents in: in fire by night, to show you by what way you should go, and in the cloud by day.
1:34
וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶת־ק֣וֹל דִּבְרֵיכֶ֑ם וַיִּקְצֹ֖ף וַיִּשָּׁבַ֥ע לֵאמֹֽר׃
καὶ ἤκουσεν κύριος τὴν φωνὴν τῶν λόγων ὑμῶν καὶ παροξυνθεὶς ὤμοσεν λέγων
Cumque audisset Dominus vocem sermonum vestrorum, iratus juravit, et ait :
ወሰምዐ ፡ እግዚእ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ቃለ ፡ ነገርክሙ ፡ ወተምዕዐ ፡ ወመሐለ ፡ ወይቤ ፤
Yahweh heard the voice of your words and was angry, and swore, saying,
1:35
אִם־יִרְאֶ֥ה אִישׁ֙ בָּאֲנָשִׁ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה הַדּ֥וֹר הָרָ֖ע הַזֶּ֑ה אֵ֚ת הָאָ֣רֶץ הַטּוֹבָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִשְׁבַּ֔עְתִּי לָתֵ֖ת לַאֲבֹתֵיכֶֽם׃
εἰ ὄψεταί τις τῶν ἀνδρῶν τούτων τὴν ἀγαθὴν ταύτην γῆν ἣν ὤμοσα τοῖς πατράσιν αὐτῶν
Non videbit quispiam de hominibus generationis hujus pessimae terram bonam, quam sub juramento pollicitus sum patribus vestris,
ከመ ፡ ኢይሬእይዋ ፡ እሉ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ቡርክት ፡ እንተ ፡ መሐልኩ ፡ ለአበዊሆሙ ፤
“Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see the good land which I swore to give to your fathers,
1:36
זֽוּלָתִ֞י כָּלֵ֤ב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּה֙ ה֣וּא יִרְאֶ֔נָּה וְלֽוֹ־אֶתֵּ֧ן אֶת־הָאָ֛רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר דָּֽרַךְ־בָּ֖הּ וּלְבָנָ֑יו יַ֕עַן אֲשֶׁ֥ר מִלֵּ֖א אַחֲרֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃
πλὴν Χαλεβ υἱὸς Ιεφοννη οὗτος ὄψεται αὐτήν καὶ τούτῳ δώσω τὴν γῆν ἐφ’ ἣν ἐπέβη καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ διὰ τὸ προσκεῖσθαι αὐτὸν τὰ πρὸς κύριον
praeter Caleb filium Jephone : ipse enim videbit eam, et ipsi dabo terram, quam calcavit, et filiis ejus, quia secutus est Dominum.
እንበለ ፡ ካሌብ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዬፎኔ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ይሬእያ ፡ ወሎቱ ፡ እሁባ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ ውስቴታ ፡ ዐርገ ፡ ወለደቂቁ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወእቱ ፡ ልቡ ።
except Caleb the son of Jephunneh. He shall see it. I will give the land that he has trodden on to him and to his children, because he has wholly followed Yahweh.”
1:37
גַּם־בִּי֙ הִתְאַנַּ֣ף יְהֹוָ֔ה בִּגְלַלְכֶ֖ם לֵאמֹ֑ר גַּם־אַתָּ֖ה לֹא־תָבֹ֥א שָֽׁם׃
καὶ ἐμοὶ ἐθυμώθη κύριος δῑ ὑμᾶς λέγων οὐδὲ σὺ οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθῃς ἐκεῖ
Nec miranda indignatio in populum, cum mihi quoque iratus Dominus propter vos dixerit : Nec tu ingredieris illuc :
ወኪያየኒ ፡ ተምዕዐ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በእንቲአክሙ ፡ ወይቤለኒ ፡ አንተኒ ፡ ኢትበውእ ፡ ህየ ።
Also Yahweh was angry with me for your sakes, saying, “You also shall not go in there.
1:38
יְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַ בִּן־נוּן֙ הָעֹמֵ֣ד לְפָנֶ֔יךָ ה֖וּא יָ֣בֹא שָׁ֑מָּה אֹת֣וֹ חַזֵּ֔ק כִּי־ה֖וּא יַנְחִלֶ֥נָּה אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Ἰησοῦς υἱὸς Ναυη ὁ παρεστηκώς σοι οὗτος εἰσελεύσεται ἐκεῖ αὐτὸν κατίσχυσον ὅτι αὐτὸς κατακληρονομήσει αὐτὴν τῷ Ισραηλ
sed Josue filius Nun minister tuus, ipse intrabit pro te. Hunc exhortare et robora, et ipse sorte terram dividet Israëli.
እስመ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ነዌ ፡ ዘይቀውም ፡ ቅድሜከ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ይበውእ ፡ ህየ ፡ ኪያሁ ፡ አ[ጽ]ንዖ ፡ እስመ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ያወርሶሙ ፡ ይእተ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ለእስራኤል ።
Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, shall go in there. Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
1:39
וְטַפְּכֶם֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר אֲמַרְתֶּ֜ם לָבַ֣ז יִהְיֶ֗ה וּ֠בְנֵיכֶ֠ם אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹא־יָדְע֤וּ הַיּוֹם֙ ט֣וֹב וָרָ֔ע הֵ֖מָּה יָבֹ֣אוּ שָׁ֑מָּה וְלָהֶ֣ם אֶתְּנֶ֔נָּה וְהֵ֖ם יִירָשֽׁוּהָ׃
καὶ πᾶν παιδίον νέον ὅστις οὐκ οἶδεν σήμερον ἀγαθὸν ἢ κακόν οὗτοι εἰσελεύσονται ἐκεῖ καὶ τούτοις δώσω αὐτήν καὶ αὐτοὶ κληρονομήσουσιν αὐτήν
Parvuli vestri, de quibus dixistis quod captivi ducerentur, et filii qui hodie boni ac mali ignorant distantiam, ipsi ingredientur : et ipsis dabo terram, et possidebunt eam.
ወደቂቅክሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ትቤሉ ፡ ይፄወው ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ሕፃን ፡ ንኡስ ፡ ዘኢያአምር ፡ ዮም ፡ ሠናይተ ፡ ወእኪተ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ይበውኡ ፡ ህየ ፡ ወሎሙ ፡ እሁባ ፡ ወእሙንቱ ፡ ይትወረስዋ ።
Moreover your little ones, whom you said would be captured or killed, your children, who today have no knowledge of good or evil, shall go in there. I will give it to them, and they shall possess it.
1:40
וְאַתֶּ֖ם פְּנ֣וּ לָכֶ֑ם וּסְע֥וּ הַמִּדְבָּ֖רָה דֶּ֥רֶךְ יַם־סֽוּף׃
καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐπιστραφέντες ἐστρατοπεδεύσατε εἰς τὴν ἔρημον ὁδὸν τὴν ἐπὶ τῆς ἐρυθρᾶς θαλάσσης
Vos autem revertimini, et abite in solitudinem per viam maris Rubri.
ወአንትሙሰ ፡ ተመየጥክሙ ፡ ወገዐዝክሙ ፡ ውስቴ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ፍኖተ ፡ ባሕረ ፡ [ኤ]ርትራ ።
But as for you, turn, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.”
1:41
וַֽתַּעֲנ֣וּ׀ וַתֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלַ֗י חָטָ֘אנוּ֮ לַיהֹוָה֒ אֲנַ֤חְנוּ נַעֲלֶה֙ וְנִלְחַ֔מְנוּ כְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֖נוּ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ וַֽתַּחְגְּר֗וּ אִ֚ישׁ אֶת־כְּלֵ֣י מִלְחַמְתּ֔וֹ וַתָּהִ֖ינוּ לַעֲלֹ֥ת הָהָֽרָה׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθητέ μοι καὶ εἴπατε ἡμάρτομεν ἔναντι κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν ἡμεῖς ἀναβάντες πολεμήσομεν κατὰ πάντα ὅσα ἐνετείλατο κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν ἡμῖν καὶ ἀναλαβόντες ἕκαστος τὰ σκεύη τὰ πολεμικὰ αὐτοῦ καὶ συναθροισθέντες ἀνεβαίνετε εἰς τὸ ὄρος
Et respondistis mihi : Peccavimus Domino : ascendemus et pugnabimus, sicut praecepit Dominus Deus noster. Cumque instructi armis pergeretis in montem,
ወአውሣእክሙኒ ፡ ወትቤሉኒ ፡ አበስነ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክነ ፡ ነዐርግ ፡ ንሕነ ፡ ወንትቃተል ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዘከመ ፡ አዘዘነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክነ ፡ ወነሣእክሙ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ንዋየ ፡ ሐቅሉ ፡ ወዐረግሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብር ።
Then you answered and said to me, “We have sinned against Yahweh. We will go up and fight, according to all that Yahweh our God commanded us.” Every man of you put on his weapons of war, and presumed to go up into the hill country.
1:42
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י אֱמֹ֤ר לָהֶם֙ לֹ֤א תַֽעֲלוּ֙ וְלֹא־תִלָּ֣חֲמ֔וּ כִּ֥י אֵינֶ֖נִּי בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֑ם וְלֹא֙ תִּנָּ֣גְפ֔וּ לִפְנֵ֖י אֹיְבֵיכֶֽם׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρός με εἰπὸν αὐτοῖς οὐκ ἀναβήσεσθε οὐδὲ μὴ πολεμήσετε οὐ γάρ εἰμι μεθ’ ὑμῶν καὶ οὐ μὴ συντριβῆτε ἐνώπιον τῶν ἐχθρῶν ὑμῶν
ait mihi Dominus : Dic ad eos : Nolite ascendere, neque pugnetis : non enim sum vobiscum : ne cadatis coram inimicis vestris.
ወይቤለኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በሎሙ ፡ ኢትዕረጉአ ፡ ወኢትትቃተሉአ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኢሀለውኩአ ፡ ምስሌክሙአ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢትትቀጥቀጡአ ፡ ቅድመአ ፡ ፀርክሙአ ።
Yahweh said to me, “Tell them, ‘Don’t go up and don’t fight; for I am not among you, lest you be struck before your enemies.’”
1:43
וָאֲדַבֵּ֥ר אֲלֵיכֶ֖ם וְלֹ֣א שְׁמַעְתֶּ֑ם וַתַּמְרוּ֙ אֶת־פִּ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה וַתָּזִ֖דוּ וַתַּעֲל֥וּ הָהָֽרָה׃
καὶ ἐλάλησα ὑμῖν καὶ οὐκ εἰσηκούσατέ μου καὶ παρέβητε τὸ ῥῆμα κυρίου καὶ παραβιασάμενοι ἀνέβητε εἰς τὸ ὄρος
Locutus sum, et non audistis : sed adversantes imperio Domini, et tumentes superbia, ascendistis in montem.
ወነገርኩክሙ ፡ ወኢሰማዕክሙኒ ፡ ወተዐወርክሙ ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወተኀየልክሙኒ ፡ ወዐረግሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብር ።
So I spoke to you, and you didn’t listen; but you rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh, and were presumptuous, and went up into the hill country.
1:44
וַיֵּצֵ֨א הָאֱמֹרִ֜י הַיֹּשֵׁ֨ב בָּהָ֤ר הַהוּא֙ לִקְרַאתְכֶ֔ם וַיִּרְדְּפ֣וּ אֶתְכֶ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּעֲשֶׂ֖ינָה הַדְּבֹרִ֑ים וַֽיַּכְּת֥וּ אֶתְכֶ֛ם בְּשֵׂעִ֖יר עַד־חׇרְמָֽה׃
καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὁ Αμορραῖος ὁ κατοικῶν ἐν τῷ ὄρει ἐκείνῳ εἰς συνάντησιν ὑμῖν καὶ κατεδίωξαν ὑμᾶς ὡς εἰ ποιήσαισαν αἱ μέλισσαι καὶ ἐτίτρωσκον ὑμᾶς ἀπὸ Σηιρ ἕως Ερμα
Itaque egressus Amorrhaeus, qui habitabat in montibus, et obviam veniens, persecutus est vos, sicut solent apes persequi : et cecidit de Seir usque Horma.
ወወፅኡ ፡ አሞሬዎን ፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ደብር ፡ ወተቀበሉክሙ ፡ ወአንትዑክሙ ፡ ወሰደዱክሙ ፡ ወነደፉክሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ንህብ ፡ ወወግኡክሙ ፡ እምነ ፡ ሴይር ፡ እስከ ፡ ሔርማ ።
The Amorites, who lived in that hill country, came out against you and chased you as bees do, and beat you down in Seir, even to Hormah.
1:45
וַתָּשֻׁ֥בוּ וַתִּבְכּ֖וּ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה וְלֹֽא־שָׁמַ֤ע יְהֹוָה֙ בְּקֹ֣לְכֶ֔ם וְלֹ֥א הֶאֱזִ֖ין אֲלֵיכֶֽם׃
καὶ καθίσαντες ἐκλαίετε ἔναντι κυρίου καὶ οὐκ εἰσήκουσεν κύριος τῆς φωνῆς ὑμῶν οὐδὲ προσέσχεν ὑμῖν
Cumque reversi ploraretis coram Domino, non audivit vos, nec voci vestrae voluit acquiescere.
ወነበርክሙ ፡ ወበከይክሙ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወኢሰምዐክሙ ፡ ቃለክሙ ፡ ወኢነጸረክሙ ።
You returned and wept before Yahweh, but Yahweh didn’t listen to your voice, nor turn his ear to you.
1:46
וַתֵּשְׁב֥וּ בְקָדֵ֖שׁ יָמִ֣ים רַבִּ֑ים כַּיָּמִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְשַׁבְתֶּֽם׃
καὶ ἐνεκάθησθε ἐν Καδης ἡμέρας πολλάς ὅσας ποτὲ ἡμέρας ἐνεκάθησθε
Sedistis ergo in Cadesbarne multo tempore.
ወነበርክሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቃዴስ ፡ ብዙኀ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ አምጣነ ፡ ነበርክሙ ፡ ቀዲሙ ፡ ህየ ።
So you stayed in Kadesh many days, according to the days that you remained.
