20:1
כִּֽי־תֵצֵ֨א לַמִּלְחָמָ֜ה עַל־אֹיְבֶ֗ךָ וְֽרָאִ֜יתָ ס֤וּס וָרֶ֙כֶב֙ עַ֚ם רַ֣ב מִמְּךָ֔ לֹ֥א תִירָ֖א מֵהֶ֑ם כִּֽי־יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙ עִמָּ֔ךְ הַמַּֽעַלְךָ֖ מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
ἐὰν δὲ ἐξέλθῃς εἰς πόλεμον ἐπὶ τοὺς ἐχθρούς σου καὶ ἴδῃς ἵππον καὶ ἀναβάτην καὶ λαὸν πλείονά σου οὐ φοβηθήσῃ ἀπ’ αὐτῶν ὅτι κύριος ὁ θεός σου μετὰ σοῦ ὁ ἀναβιβάσας σε ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου
Si exieris ad bellum contra hostes tuos, et videris equitatus et currus, et majorem quam tu habeas adversarii exercitus multitudinem, non timebis eos : quia Dominus Deus tuus tecum est, qui eduxit te de terra Aegypti.
ወለእመ ፡ ወፃእከ ፡ ፀብአ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ፀርከ ፡ ወርኢከ ፡ አፍራሰ ፡ ወመጻዕናነ ፡ ወሕዝበ ፡ ዘይበዝኀከ ፡ ኢትፍራህ ፡ እምኔሆሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክከ ፡ ምስሌከ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘአውፅአከ ፡ እምነ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ።
When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses, chariots, and a people more numerous than you, you shall not be afraid of them; for Yahweh your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, is with you.
20:2
וְהָיָ֕ה כְּקָֽרׇבְכֶ֖ם אֶל־הַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה וְנִגַּ֥שׁ הַכֹּהֵ֖ן וְדִבֶּ֥ר אֶל־הָעָֽם׃
καὶ ἔσται ὅταν ἐγγίσῃς τῷ πολέμῳ καὶ προσεγγίσας ὁ ἱερεὺς λαλήσει τῷ λαῷ
Appropinquante autem jam praelio, stabit sacerdos ante aciem, et sic loquetur ad populum :
ወሶበ ፡ አኀዝከ ፡ ትትቃተል ፡ ይምጻእ ፡ ካህን ፡ ወይንግር ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ ወይበሎሙ ፤
It shall be, when you draw near to the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people,
20:3
וְאָמַ֤ר אֲלֵהֶם֙ שְׁמַ֣ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אַתֶּ֨ם קְרֵבִ֥ים הַיּ֛וֹם לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה עַל־אֹיְבֵיכֶ֑ם אַל־יֵרַ֣ךְ לְבַבְכֶ֗ם אַל־תִּֽירְא֧וּ וְאַֽל־תַּחְפְּז֛וּ וְאַל־תַּֽעַרְצ֖וּ מִפְּנֵיהֶֽם׃
καὶ ἐρεῖ πρὸς αὐτούς ἄκουε Ισραηλ ὑμεῖς προσπορεύεσθε σήμερον εἰς πόλεμον ἐπὶ τοὺς ἐχθροὺς ὑμῶν μὴ ἐκλυέσθω ἡ καρδία ὑμῶν μὴ φοβεῖσθε μηδὲ θραύεσθε μηδὲ ἐκκλίνητε ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν
Audi, Israël : vos hodie contra inimicos vestros pugnam committitis : non pertimescat cor vestrum, nolite metuere, nolite cedere, nec formidetis eos :
ስማዕ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ናሁ ፡ ተሐውሩ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ዮም ፡ ከመ ፡ ትትቃተሉ ፡ ፀረክሙ ፡ ኢይደንግፅክሙ ፡ ልብክሙ ፡ ወኢትፍርሁ ፡ ወኢትመምዑ ፡ ወኢትትገሐሡ ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጾሙ ።
and shall tell them, “Hear, Israel, you draw near today to battle against your enemies. Don’t let your heart faint! Don’t be afraid, nor tremble, neither be scared of them;
20:4
כִּ֚י יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם הַהֹלֵ֖ךְ עִמָּכֶ֑ם לְהִלָּחֵ֥ם לָכֶ֛ם עִם־אֹיְבֵיכֶ֖ם לְהוֹשִׁ֥יעַ אֶתְכֶֽם׃
ὅτι κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν ὁ προπορευόμενος μεθ’ ὑμῶν συνεκπολεμῆσαι ὑμῖν τοὺς ἐχθροὺς ὑμῶν διασῶσαι ὑμᾶς
quia Dominus Deus vester in medio vestri est, et pro vobis contra adversarios dimicabit, ut eruat vos de periculo.
እስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክ[ክሙ] ፡ የሐውር ፡ ፍጽመ ፡ ለክሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይቅትል ፡ ለክሙ ፡ ፀረክሙ ፡ ወለክሙሰ ፡ ያድኅነክሙ ።
for Yahweh your God is he who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.”
20:5
וְדִבְּר֣וּ הַשֹּֽׁטְרִים֮ אֶל־הָעָ֣ם לֵאמֹר֒ מִֽי־הָאִ֞ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֨ר בָּנָ֤ה בַֽיִת־חָדָשׁ֙ וְלֹ֣א חֲנָכ֔וֹ יֵלֵ֖ךְ וְיָשֹׁ֣ב לְבֵית֑וֹ פֶּן־יָמוּת֙ בַּמִּלְחָמָ֔ה וְאִ֥ישׁ אַחֵ֖ר יַחְנְכֶֽנּוּ׃
καὶ λαλήσουσιν οἱ γραμματεῖς πρὸς τὸν λαὸν λέγοντες τίς ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ οἰκοδομήσας οἰκίαν καινὴν καὶ οὐκ ἐνεκαίνισεν αὐτήν πορευέσθω καὶ ἀποστραφήτω εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ ἐν τῷ πολέμῳ καὶ ἄνθρωπος ἕτερος ἐγκαινιεῖ αὐτήν
Duces quoque per singulas turmas audiente exercitu proclamabunt : Quis est homo qui aedificavit domum novam, et non dedicavit eam ? vadat, et revertatur in domum suam, ne forte moriatur in bello, et alius dedicet eam.
ወይብልዎሙ ፡ ጸሐፍትኒ ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ ለእመቦ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ዘነደቀ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ሐዲሰ ፡ ወኢገብረ ፡ መድቅሐ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ ለይሑር ፡ ወለይግባእ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይሙት ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቀትል ፡ ወካልእ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ይግበር ፡ መድቅሐ ፡ ቤቱ ።
The officers shall speak to the people, saying, “What man is there who has built a new house, and has not dedicated it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it.
20:6
וּמִֽי־הָאִ֞ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־נָטַ֥ע כֶּ֙רֶם֙ וְלֹ֣א חִלְּל֔וֹ יֵלֵ֖ךְ וְיָשֹׁ֣ב לְבֵית֑וֹ פֶּן־יָמוּת֙ בַּמִּלְחָמָ֔ה וְאִ֥ישׁ אַחֵ֖ר יְחַלְּלֶֽנּוּ׃
καὶ τίς ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὅστις ἐφύτευσεν ἀμπελῶνα καὶ οὐκ εὐφράνθη ἐξ αὐτοῦ πορευέσθω καὶ ἀποστραφήτω εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ ἐν τῷ πολέμῳ καὶ ἄνθρωπος ἕτερος εὐφρανθήσεται ἐξ αὐτοῦ
Quis est homo qui plantavit vineam, et necdum fecit eam esse communem, de qua vesci omnibus liceat ? vadat, et revertatur in domum suam, ne forte moriatur in bello, et alius homo ejus fungatur officio.
ወለእመቦ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ዘተከለ ፡ ዐጸደ ፡ ወይን ፡ ወኢተፈሥሐ ፡ እምውስቴቱ ፡ ለይሑር ፡ ወለይግባእ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይሙት ፡ በውስተ ፡ ቀትል ፡ ወካልእ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ይትፌሣሕ ፡ ቦቱ ።
What man is there who has planted a vineyard, and has not used its fruit? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man use its fruit.
20:7
וּמִֽי־הָאִ֞ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־אֵרַ֤שׂ אִשָּׁה֙ וְלֹ֣א לְקָחָ֔הּ יֵלֵ֖ךְ וְיָשֹׁ֣ב לְבֵית֑וֹ פֶּן־יָמוּת֙ בַּמִּלְחָמָ֔ה וְאִ֥ישׁ אַחֵ֖ר יִקָּחֶֽנָּה׃
καὶ τίς ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὅστις μεμνήστευται γυναῖκα καὶ οὐκ ἔλαβεν αὐτήν πορευέσθω καὶ ἀποστραφήτω εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ ἐν τῷ πολέμῳ καὶ ἄνθρωπος ἕτερος λήμψεται αὐτήν
Quis est homo, qui despondit uxorem, et non accepit eam ? vadat, et revertatur in domum suam, ne forte moriatur in bello, et alius homo accipiat eam.
ወለእመቦ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ዘፈኀረ ፡ ብእሲተ ፡ ወኢነሥኣ ፡ ለይሑር ፡ ወለይግባእ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይሙት ፡ በውስተ ፡ ቀትል ፡ ወካልእ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ይንሥኣ ።
What man is there who has pledged to be married to a wife, and has not taken her? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.”
20:8
וְיָסְפ֣וּ הַשֹּׁטְרִים֮ לְדַבֵּ֣ר אֶל־הָעָם֒ וְאָמְר֗וּ מִי־הָאִ֤ישׁ הַיָּרֵא֙ וְרַ֣ךְ הַלֵּבָ֔ב יֵלֵ֖ךְ וְיָשֹׁ֣ב לְבֵית֑וֹ וְלֹ֥א יִמַּ֛ס אֶת־לְבַ֥ב אֶחָ֖יו כִּלְבָבֽוֹ׃
καὶ προσθήσουσιν οἱ γραμματεῖς λαλῆσαι πρὸς τὸν λαὸν καὶ ἐροῦσιν τίς ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ φοβούμενος καὶ δειλὸς τῇ καρδίᾳ πορευέσθω καὶ ἀποστραφήτω εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ ἵνα μὴ δειλιάνῃ τὴν καρδίαν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ ὥσπερ ἡ αὐτοῦ
His dictis addent reliqua, et loquentur ad populum : Quis est homo formidolosus, et corde pavido ? vadat, et revertatur in domum suam, ne pavere faciat corda fratrum suorum, sicut ipse timore perterritus est.
ወይድግሙ ፡ ብሂሎቶሙ ፡ ጸሐፍት ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ ለእመቦ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ፈራህ ፡ ዘይፈርሆ ፡ ልቡ ፡ ለይሑር ፡ ወለይግባእ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢያፍርህ ፡ ልበ ፡ ቢጹ ፡ በከመ ፡ ዚአሁ ።
The officers shall speak further to the people, and they shall say, “What man is there who is fearful and faint-hearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest his brother’s heart melt as his heart.”
20:9
וְהָיָ֛ה כְּכַלֹּ֥ת הַשֹּׁטְרִ֖ים לְדַבֵּ֣ר אֶל־הָעָ֑ם וּפָ֥קְד֛וּ שָׂרֵ֥י צְבָא֖וֹת בְּרֹ֥אשׁ הָעָֽם׃ {ס}
καὶ ἔσται ὅταν παύσωνται οἱ γραμματεῖς λαλοῦντες πρὸς τὸν λαόν καὶ καταστήσουσιν ἄρχοντας τῆς στρατιᾶς προηγουμένους τοῦ λαοῦ
Cumque siluerint duces exercitus, et finem loquendi fecerint, unusquisque suos ad bellandum cuneos praeparabit.
ወሶበ ፡ አኅለቁ ፡ ነጊሮቶሙ ፡ ጸሐፍት ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ ይሠይሙ ፡ መላእክተ ፡ ሰራዊት ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ዐበይተ ፡ ሕዝብ ።
It shall be, when the officers have finished speaking to the people, that they shall appoint captains of armies at the head of the people.
20:10
כִּֽי־תִקְרַ֣ב אֶל־עִ֔יר לְהִלָּחֵ֖ם עָלֶ֑יהָ וְקָרָ֥אתָ אֵלֶ֖יהָ לְשָׁלֽוֹם׃
ἐὰν δὲ προσέλθῃς πρὸς πόλιν ἐκπολεμῆσαι αὐτήν καὶ ἐκκαλέσῃ αὐτοὺς μετ’ εἰρήνης
Siquando accesseris ad expugnandam civitatem, offeres ei primum pacem.
ወሶበ ፡ ትመጽእ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ከመ ፡ ትትቃተል ፡ ትጼውዕዎሙ ፡ በሰላም ።
When you draw near to a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace to it.
20:11
וְהָיָה֙ אִם־שָׁל֣וֹם תַּֽעַנְךָ֔ וּפָתְחָ֖ה לָ֑ךְ וְהָיָ֞ה כׇּל־הָעָ֣ם הַנִּמְצָא־בָ֗הּ יִהְי֥וּ לְךָ֛ לָמַ֖ס וַעֲבָדֽוּךָ׃
ἐὰν μὲν εἰρηνικὰ ἀποκριθῶσίν σοι καὶ ἀνοίξωσίν σοι ἔσται πᾶς ὁ λαὸς οἱ εὑρεθέντες ἐν αὐτῇ ἔσονταί σοι φορολόγητοι καὶ ὑπήκοοί σου
Si receperit, et aperuerit tibi portas, cunctus populus, qui in ea est, salvabitur, et serviet tibi sub tributo.
ወለእመ ፡ አውሥኡክሙ ፡ በሰላም ፡ ወአርኀውከ ፡ ይኩኑከ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ እለ ፡ ተረክቡ ፡ ውስቴታ ፡ እለ ፡ ያገብኡ ፡ ለከ ፡ ጸባሕተ ፡ ወምኵናኒከኒ ፡ ይኩኑከ ።
It shall be, if it gives you answer of peace and opens to you, then it shall be that all the people who are found therein shall become forced laborers to you, and shall serve you.
20:12
וְאִם־לֹ֤א תַשְׁלִים֙ עִמָּ֔ךְ וְעָשְׂתָ֥ה עִמְּךָ֖ מִלְחָמָ֑ה וְצַרְתָּ֖ עָלֶֽיהָ׃
ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ὑπακούσωσίν σοι καὶ ποιήσωσιν πρὸς σὲ πόλεμον περικαθιεῖς αὐτήν
Sin autem foedus inire noluerit, et coeperit contra te bellum, oppugnabis eam.
ወለእመሰ ፡ ኢያውሥኡከ ፡ ወገብሩ ፡ ፀብአ ፡ ምስሌከ ፡ ትነብር ፡ ላዕሌሃ ።
If it will make no peace with you, but will make war against you, then you shall besiege it.
20:13
וּנְתָנָ֛הּ יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ בְּיָדֶ֑ךָ וְהִכִּיתָ֥ אֶת־כׇּל־זְכוּרָ֖הּ לְפִי־חָֽרֶב׃
καὶ παραδώσει αὐτὴν κύριος ὁ θεός σου εἰς τὰς χεῖράς σου καὶ πατάξεις πᾶν ἀρσενικὸν αὐτῆς ἐν φόνῳ μαχαίρας
Cumque tradiderit Dominus Deus tuus illam in manu tua, percuties omne quod in ea generis masculini est, in ore gladii,
ወያገብኣ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክከ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እደዊከ ፡ ወትቀትል ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ተባዕታ ፡ በቀትለ ፡ ሐፂን ።
When Yahweh your God delivers it into your hand, you shall strike every male of it with the edge of the sword;
20:14
רַ֣ק הַ֠נָּשִׁ֠ים וְהַטַּ֨ף וְהַבְּהֵמָ֜ה וְכֹל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִהְיֶ֥ה בָעִ֛יר כׇּל־שְׁלָלָ֖הּ תָּבֹ֣ז לָ֑ךְ וְאָֽכַלְתָּ֙ אֶת־שְׁלַ֣ל אֹיְבֶ֔יךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֛ן יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ לָֽךְ׃
πλὴν τῶν γυναικῶν καὶ τῆς ἀποσκευῆς καὶ πάντα τὰ κτήνη καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἂν ὑπάρχῃ ἐν τῇ πόλει καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀπαρτίαν προνομεύσεις σεαυτῷ καὶ φάγῃ πᾶσαν τὴν προνομὴν τῶν ἐχθρῶν σου ὧν κύριος ὁ θεός σου δίδωσίν σοι
absque mulieribus et infantibus, jumentis et ceteris quae in civitate sunt. Omnem praedam exercitui divides, et comedes de spoliis hostium tuorum, quae Dominus Deus tuus dederit tibi.
ዘእንበለ ፡ አንስት ፡ ወንዋየ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ እንስሳ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዘሀለወ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ጥሪቶሙ ፡ ትበረብር ፡ ለከ ፡ ወብላዕ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ በርበረ ፡ ፀርከ ፡ ዘወሀበከ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክከ ።
but the women, the little ones, the livestock, and all that is in the city, even all its plunder, you shall take for plunder for yourself. You may use the plunder of your enemies, which Yahweh your God has given you.
20:15
כֵּ֤ן תַּעֲשֶׂה֙ לְכׇל־הֶ֣עָרִ֔ים הָרְחֹקֹ֥ת מִמְּךָ֖ מְאֹ֑ד אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹא־מֵעָרֵ֥י הַגּֽוֹיִם־הָאֵ֖לֶּה הֵֽנָּה׃
οὕτως ποιήσεις πάσας τὰς πόλεις τὰς μακρὰν οὔσας ἀπὸ σοῦ σφόδρα αἳ οὐχὶ ἐκ τῶν πόλεων τῶν ἐθνῶν τούτων
Sic facies cunctis civitatibus, quae a te procul valde sunt, et non sunt de his urbibus, quas in possessionem accepturus es.
ወከመዝ ፡ ትገብር ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ አህጉር ፡ እለ ፡ ጥቀ ፡ ርኁቃት ፡ እምኔከ ፡ እለ ፡ ኢኮና ፡ እምውስተ ፡ አህጉሪሆሙ ፡ ለእሉ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ [እለ ፡] ይሁበከ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክከ ፡ ምድሮሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትትወረሳ ።
Thus you shall do to all the cities which are very far off from you, which are not of the cities of these nations.
20:16
רַ֗ק מֵעָרֵ֤י הָֽעַמִּים֙ הָאֵ֔לֶּה אֲשֶׁר֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ נֹתֵ֥ן לְךָ֖ נַחֲלָ֑ה לֹ֥א תְחַיֶּ֖ה כׇּל־נְשָׁמָֽה׃
ἰδοὺ δὲ ἀπὸ τῶν πόλεων τῶν ἐθνῶν τούτων ὧν κύριος ὁ θεός σου δίδωσίν σοι κληρονομεῖν τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν οὐ ζωγρήσετε ἀπ’ αὐτῶν πᾶν ἐμπνέον
De his autem civitatibus, quae dabuntur tibi, nullum omnino permittes vivere :
ወኢታሕዩ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዘነፍስ ።
But of the cities of these peoples that Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes;
20:17
כִּֽי־הַחֲרֵ֣ם תַּחֲרִימֵ֗ם הַחִתִּ֤י וְהָאֱמֹרִי֙ הַכְּנַעֲנִ֣י וְהַפְּרִזִּ֔י הַחִוִּ֖י וְהַיְבוּסִ֑י כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוְּךָ֖ יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃
ἀλλ’ ἢ ἀναθέματι ἀναθεματιεῖτε αὐτούς τὸν Χετταῖον καὶ Αμορραῖον καὶ Χαναναῖον καὶ Φερεζαῖον καὶ Ευαῖον καὶ Ιεβουσαῖον καὶ Γεργεσαῖον ὃν τρόπον ἐνετείλατό σοι κύριος ὁ θεός σου
sed interficies in ore gladii, Hethaeum videlicet, et Amorrhaeum, et Chananaeum, Pherezaeum, et Hevaeum, et Jebusaeum, sicut praecepit tibi Dominus Deus tuus :
አላ ፡ መርገመ ፡ ተረግምዎሙ ፡ ለኬጤዎን ፡ ወለአሞሬዎን ፡ ወለከናኔዎን ፡ ወለፌሬዜዎን ፡ ወለኤዌዎን ፡ ወለኢያቡሴዎን ፡ ወለጌርጌሴዎን ፡ በከመ ፡ አዘዘከ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክከ ፤
but you shall utterly destroy them: the Hittite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, as Yahweh your God has commanded you;
20:18
לְמַ֗עַן אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹֽא־יְלַמְּד֤וּ אֶתְכֶם֙ לַעֲשׂ֔וֹת כְּכֹל֙ תּֽוֹעֲבֹתָ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשׂ֖וּ לֵאלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם וַחֲטָאתֶ֖ם לַיהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃ {ס}
ἵνα μὴ διδάξωσιν ὑμᾶς ποιεῖν πάντα τὰ βδελύγματα αὐτῶν ὅσα ἐποίησαν τοῖς θεοῖς αὐτῶν καὶ ἁμαρτήσεσθε ἐναντίον κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν
ne forte doceant vos facere cunctas abominationes, quas ipsi operati sunt diis suis, et peccetis in Dominum Deum vestrum.
ከመ ፡ ኢይምሀሩከ ፡ ገቢረ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ርኵሶሙ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዘከመ ፡ ይገብሩ ፡ ለአማልክቲሆሙ ፡ ወትጌግዩ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክክሙ ።
that they not teach you to follow all their abominations, which they have done for their gods; so would you sin against Yahweh your God.
20:19
כִּֽי־תָצ֣וּר אֶל־עִיר֩ יָמִ֨ים רַבִּ֜ים לְֽהִלָּחֵ֧ם עָלֶ֣יהָ לְתׇפְשָׂ֗הּ לֹֽא־תַשְׁחִ֤ית אֶת־עֵצָהּ֙ לִנְדֹּ֤חַ עָלָיו֙ גַּרְזֶ֔ן כִּ֚י מִמֶּ֣נּוּ תֹאכֵ֔ל וְאֹת֖וֹ לֹ֣א תִכְרֹ֑ת כִּ֤י הָֽאָדָם֙ עֵ֣ץ הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה לָבֹ֥א מִפָּנֶ֖יךָ בַּמָּצֽוֹר׃
ἐὰν δὲ περικαθίσῃς περὶ πόλιν ἡμέρας πλείους ἐκπολεμῆσαι αὐτὴν εἰς κατάλημψιν αὐτῆς οὐχὶ ἐξολεθρεύσεις τὰ δένδρα αὐτῆς ἐπιβαλεῖν ἐπ’ αὐτὰ σίδηρον ἀλλ’ ἢ ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ φάγῃ αὐτὸ δὲ οὐκ ἐκκόψεις μὴ ἄνθρωπος τὸ ξύλον τὸ ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ εἰσελθεῖν ἀπὸ προσώπου σου εἰς τὸν χάρακα
Quando obsederis civitatem multo tempore, et munitionibus circumdederis ut expugnes eam, non succides arbores, de quibus vesci potest, nec securibus per circuitum debes vastare regionem : quoniam lignum est, et non homo, nec potest bellantium contra te augere numerum.
ወለእመ ፡ ነበርከ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ብዙኀ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትትቃተላ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ትንሥኣ ፡ ኢትግዝም ፡ ኦማ ፡ ወኢታውርድ ፡ ሐፂነ ፡ ላዕሌሆን ፡ አላ ፡ እምኔሁ ፡ ብላዕ ፤ ቦኑ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ኦመ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ከመ ፡ ይምጻእ ፡ ቅድሜከ ፡ ወይባእ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቅጽርከ ።
When you shall besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an ax against them; for you may eat of them. You shall not cut them down, for is the tree of the field man, that it should be besieged by you?
20:20
רַ֞ק עֵ֣ץ אֲשֶׁר־תֵּדַ֗ע כִּֽי־לֹא־עֵ֤ץ מַאֲכָל֙ ה֔וּא אֹת֥וֹ תַשְׁחִ֖ית וְכָרָ֑תָּ וּבָנִ֣יתָ מָצ֗וֹר עַל־הָעִיר֙ אֲשֶׁר־הִ֨וא עֹשָׂ֧ה עִמְּךָ֛ מִלְחָמָ֖ה עַ֥ד רִדְתָּֽהּ׃ {פ}
ἀλλὰ ξύλον ὃ ἐπίστασαι ὅτι οὐ καρπόβρωτόν ἐστιν τοῦτο ἐξολεθρεύσεις καὶ ἐκκόψεις καὶ οἰκοδομήσεις χαράκωσιν ἐπὶ τὴν πόλιν ἥτις ποιεῖ πρὸς σὲ τὸν πόλεμον ἕως ἂν παραδοθῇ
Si qua autem ligna non sunt pomifera, sed agrestia, et in ceteros apta usus, succide, et instrue machinas, donec capias civitatem, quae contra te dimicat.
ወባሕቱ ፡ ዕፀ ፡ ዘታአምር ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይፈሪ ፡ ኪያሁ ፡ ትገዝም ፡ ወትመትር ፡ ወትነድቅ ፡ ሐጹረ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ሀገር ፡ እንተ ፡ ትገብር ፡ ፀብአ ፡ ምስሌከ ፡ እስከ ፡ ታስተጋብኣ ።
Only the trees that you know are not trees for food, you shall destroy and cut them down. You shall build bulwarks against the city that makes war with you, until it falls.
