16:1
וַיִּסְעוּ֙ מֵֽאֵילִ֔ם וַיָּבֹ֜אוּ כׇּל־עֲדַ֤ת בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶל־מִדְבַּר־סִ֔ין אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֵּין־אֵילִ֖ם וּבֵ֣ין סִינָ֑י בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֨ה עָשָׂ֥ר יוֹם֙ לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַשֵּׁנִ֔י לְצֵאתָ֖ם מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
ἀπῆραν δὲ ἐξ Αιλιμ καὶ ἤλθοσαν πᾶσα συναγωγὴ υἱῶν Ισραηλ εἰς τὴν ἔρημον Σιν ὅ ἐστιν ἀνὰ μέσον Αιλιμ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Σινα τῇ δὲ πεντεκαιδεκάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τῷ μηνὶ τῷ δευτέρῳ ἐξεληλυθότων αὐτῶν ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου
Profectique sunt de Elim, et venit omnis multitudo filiorum Israël in desertum Sin, quod est inter Elim et Sinai, quintodecimo die mensis secundi, postquam egressi sunt de terra Aegypti.
ወግዕዙ ፡ እምኤ[ሌም] ፡ ወመጽኡ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ዘሲ[ን] ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ኤ[ሌ]ም ፡ ወሲና ፡ አመ ፡ ዐሡር ፡ ወኀሙስ ፡ ዕለት ፡ ለካልእ ፡ ወርኅ ፡ [እምዘ ፡] ወፅኡ ፡ እምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ።
They took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
16:2
(וילינו) [וַיִּלּ֜וֹנוּ] כׇּל־עֲדַ֧ת בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל עַל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה וְעַֽל־אַהֲרֹ֖ן בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃
διεγόγγυζεν πᾶσα συναγωγὴ υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἐπὶ Μωυσῆν καὶ Ααρων
Et murmuravit omnis congregatio filiorum Israël contra Moysen et Aaron in solitudine.
ወአንጐርጐረ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ውሉደ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ በላዕለ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ወአሮን ።
The whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;
16:3
וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ אֲלֵהֶ֜ם בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מִֽי־יִתֵּ֨ן מוּתֵ֤נוּ בְיַד־יְהֹוָה֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם בְּשִׁבְתֵּ֙נוּ֙ עַל־סִ֣יר הַבָּשָׂ֔ר בְּאׇכְלֵ֥נוּ לֶ֖חֶם לָשֹׂ֑בַע כִּֽי־הוֹצֵאתֶ֤ם אֹתָ֙נוּ֙ אֶל־הַמִּדְבָּ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה לְהָמִ֛ית אֶת־כׇּל־הַקָּהָ֥ל הַזֶּ֖ה בָּרָעָֽב׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς αὐτοὺς οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ὄφελον ἀπεθάνομεν πληγέντες ὑπὸ κυρίου ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ ὅταν ἐκαθίσαμεν ἐπὶ τῶν λεβήτων τῶν κρεῶν καὶ ἠσθίομεν ἄρτους εἰς πλησμονήν ὅτι ἐξηγάγετε ἡμᾶς εἰς τὴν ἔρημον ταύτην ἀποκτεῖναι πᾶσαν τὴν συναγωγὴν ταύτην ἐν λιμῷ
Dixeruntque filii Israël ad eos : Utinam mortui essemus per manum Domini in terra Aegypti, quando sedebamus super ollas carnium, et comedebamus panem in saturitate : cur eduxistis nos in desertum istud, ut occideretis omnem multitudinem fame ?
ወይቤልዎሙ ፡ ውሉደ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ሶበ ፡ ሞትነ ፡ በመቅሠፍተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ አመ ፡ ንነብር ፡ ጠቃ ፡ ጸሀርት ፡ ዘሥጋ ፡ ወንበልዕ ፡ ኅብስተ ፡ እስከ ፡ ንጸግብ ፤ አምጻእከነ ፡ አንተ ፡ ውስተዝ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ከመ ፡ ትቅትል ፡ ኵለነ ፡ በኀበ ፡ ተጋባእነ ።
and the children of Israel said to them, “We wish that we had died by Yahweh’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots, when we ate our fill of bread, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”
16:4
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה הִנְנִ֨י מַמְטִ֥יר לָכֶ֛ם לֶ֖חֶם מִן־הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם וְיָצָ֨א הָעָ֤ם וְלָֽקְטוּ֙ דְּבַר־י֣וֹם בְּיוֹמ֔וֹ לְמַ֧עַן אֲנַסֶּ֛נּוּ הֲיֵלֵ֥ךְ בְּתוֹרָתִ֖י אִם־לֹֽא׃
εἶπεν δὲ κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ὕω ὑμῖν ἄρτους ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἐξελεύσεται ὁ λαὸς καὶ συλλέξουσιν τὸ τῆς ἡμέρας εἰς ἡμέραν ὅπως πειράσω αὐτοὺς εἰ πορεύσονται τῷ νόμῳ μου ἢ οὔ
Dixit autem Dominus ad Moysen : Ecce ego pluam vobis panes de caelo : egrediatur populus, et colligat quae sufficiunt per singulos dies : ut tentem eum utrum ambulet in lege mea, an non.
ወይቤሎ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ ናሁ ፡ አነ ፡ ኣወርድ ፡ ለክሙ ፡ ኅብስተ ፡ እምሰማይ ፡ ወይምጻእ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወያስተጋብእ ፡ ለለ ፡ ዕለት ፡ ከመ ፡ አመክሮሙ ፡ ለእመ ፡ የሐውሩ ፡ በሕግየ ፡ ወእመ ፡ አልቦ ።
Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from the sky for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not.
16:5
וְהָיָה֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשִּׁשִּׁ֔י וְהֵכִ֖ינוּ אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־יָבִ֑יאוּ וְהָיָ֣ה מִשְׁנֶ֔ה עַ֥ל אֲשֶֽׁר־יִלְקְט֖וּ י֥וֹם׀יֽוֹם׃
καὶ ἔσται τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἕκτῃ καὶ ἑτοιμάσουσιν ὃ ἐὰν εἰσενέγκωσιν καὶ ἔσται διπλοῦν ὃ ἐὰν συναγάγωσιν τὸ καθ’ ἡμέραν εἰς ἡμέραν
Die autem sexto parent quod inferant : et sit duplum quam colligere solebant per singulos dies.
ወአመ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ ዐርብ ፡ ያስተዳልው ፡ ዘአብኡ ፡ ይኩኖሙ ፡ ካዕበተ ፡ ለለዕለት ፡ ወዘአስተጋብ[ኡ ፡] ዘልፈ ፡ ለለዕለቱ ።
It shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.”
16:6
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר מֹשֶׁה֙ וְאַהֲרֹ֔ן אֶֽל־כׇּל־בְּנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל עֶ֕רֶב וִֽידַעְתֶּ֕ם כִּ֧י יְהֹוָ֛ה הוֹצִ֥יא אֶתְכֶ֖ם מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
καὶ εἶπεν Μωυσῆς καὶ Ααρων πρὸς πᾶσαν συναγωγὴν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἑσπέρας γνώσεσθε ὅτι κύριος ἐξήγαγεν ὑμᾶς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου
Dixeruntque Moyses et Aaron ad omnes filios Israël : Vespere scietis quod Dominus eduxerit vos de terra Aegypti,
ወይቤሉ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ወአሮን ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ እምሰርክ ፡ ታአምሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አውፅአክሙ ፡ እምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ።
Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, “At evening, you shall know that Yahweh has brought you out from the land of Egypt.
16:7
וּבֹ֗קֶר וּרְאִיתֶם֙ אֶת־כְּב֣וֹד יְהֹוָ֔ה בְּשׇׁמְע֥וֹ אֶת־תְּלֻנֹּתֵיכֶ֖ם עַל־יְהֹוָ֑ה וְנַ֣חְנוּ מָ֔ה כִּ֥י (תלונו) [תַלִּ֖ינוּ] עָלֵֽינוּ׃
καὶ πρωὶ ὄψεσθε τὴν δόξαν κυρίου ἐν τῷ εἰσακοῦσαι τὸν γογγυσμὸν ὑμῶν ἐπὶ τῷ θεῷ ἡμεῖς δὲ τί ἐσμεν ὅτι διαγογγύζετε καθ’ ἡμῶν
et mane videbitis gloriam Domini : audivit enim murmur vestrum contra Dominum : nos vero quid sumus, quia mussitastis contra nos ?
ወነግህ ፡ ትሬእዩ ፡ ኀይለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሰሚዖ ፡ ነጐርጓረክሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወንሕነ ፡ ምንት ፡ ንሕነ ፡ ዘታንጐረጕሩ ፡ በላዕሌነ ።
In the morning, you shall see Yahweh’s glory; because he hears your murmurings against Yahweh. Who are we, that you murmur against us?”
16:8
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֗ה בְּתֵ֣ת יְהֹוָה֩ לָכֶ֨ם בָּעֶ֜רֶב בָּשָׂ֣ר לֶאֱכֹ֗ל וְלֶ֤חֶם בַּבֹּ֙קֶר֙ לִשְׂבֹּ֔עַ בִּשְׁמֹ֤עַ יְהֹוָה֙ אֶת־תְּלֻנֹּ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁר־אַתֶּ֥ם מַלִּינִ֖ם עָלָ֑יו וְנַ֣חְנוּ מָ֔ה לֹא־עָלֵ֥ינוּ תְלֻנֹּתֵיכֶ֖ם כִּ֥י עַל־יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ εἶπεν Μωυσῆς ἐν τῷ διδόναι κύριον ὑμῖν ἑσπέρας κρέα φαγεῖν καὶ ἄρτους τὸ πρωὶ εἰς πλησμονὴν διὰ τὸ εἰσακοῦσαι κύριον τὸν γογγυσμὸν ὑμῶν ὃν ὑμεῖς διαγογγύζετε καθ’ ἡμῶν ἡμεῖς δὲ τί ἐσμεν οὐ γὰρ καθ’ ἡμῶν ὁ γογγυσμὸς ὑμῶν ἐστιν ἀλλ’ ἢ κατὰ τοῦ θεοῦ
Et ait Moyses : Dabit vobis Dominus vespere carnes edere, et mane panes in saturitate : eo quod audierit murmurationes vestras quibus murmurati estis contra eum : nos enim quid sumus ? nec contra nos est murmur vestrum, sed contra Dominum.
ወይቤ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ሰርከ ፡ ይሁበክሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሥጋ ፡ ትብልዑ ፡ ወነግህ ፡ ኅብስተ ፡ እስከ ፡ ትጸግቡ ፡ እስመ ፡ ሰምዐ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ነጐርጓረክሙ ፡ ነጐርጓር ፡ ዘታንጐረጕሩ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ በላዕሌነ ፡ ወንሕነ ፡ ምንት ፡ ንሕነ ፡ ወዝ ፡ ነጐርጓርክሙ ፡ አኮ ፡ በላዕሌነ ፡ ዘታንጐረጕሩ ፡ [አላ ፡ በ]ላዕለ ፡ ፈጣሪ ።
Moses said, “Now Yahweh will give you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfy you, because Yahweh hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against Yahweh.”
16:9
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֔ן אֱמֹ֗ר אֶֽל־כׇּל־עֲדַת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל קִרְב֖וּ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה כִּ֣י שָׁמַ֔ע אֵ֖ת תְּלֻנֹּתֵיכֶֽם׃
εἶπεν δὲ Μωυσῆς πρὸς Ααρων εἰπὸν πάσῃ συναγωγῇ υἱῶν Ισραηλ προσέλθατε ἐναντίον τοῦ θεοῦ εἰσακήκοεν γὰρ ὑμῶν τὸν γογγυσμόν
Dixit quoque Moyses ad Aaron : Dic universae congregationi filiorum Israël : Accedite coram Domino : audivit enim murmur vestrum.
ወይቤ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ለአሮን ፡ በል ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ተጋብኡ ፡ ውሉደ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ቅረቡ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ፈጣሪ ፡ እስመ ፡ ሰምዐ ፡ ነጐርጓረክሙ ።
Moses said to Aaron, “Tell all the congregation of the children of Israel, ‘Come close to Yahweh, for he has heard your murmurings.’”
16:10
וַיְהִ֗י כְּדַבֵּ֤ר אַהֲרֹן֙ אֶל־כׇּל־עֲדַ֣ת בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיִּפְנ֖וּ אֶל־הַמִּדְבָּ֑ר וְהִנֵּה֙ כְּב֣וֹד יְהֹוָ֔ה נִרְאָ֖ה בֶּעָנָֽן׃ {פ}
ἡνίκα δὲ ἐλάλει Ααρων πάσῃ συναγωγῇ υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπεστράφησαν εἰς τὴν ἔρημον καὶ ἡ δόξα κυρίου ὤφθη ἐν νεφέλῃ
Cumque loqueretur Aaron ad omnem coetum filiorum Israël, respexerunt ad solitudinem : et ecce gloria Domini apparuit in nube.
ወሶበ ፡ ይትናገር ፡ አሮን ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ተጋብኡ ፡ ውሉደ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወተመይጡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ወሠርሐ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ተርእ[የ ፡] በደመና ።
As Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, Yahweh’s glory appeared in the cloud.
16:11
וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃
καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων
Locutus est autem Dominus ad Moysen, dicens :
ወይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፤
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
16:12
שָׁמַ֗עְתִּי אֶת־תְּלוּנֹּת֮ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ דַּבֵּ֨ר אֲלֵהֶ֜ם לֵאמֹ֗ר בֵּ֤ין הָֽעַרְבַּ֙יִם֙ תֹּאכְל֣וּ בָשָׂ֔ר וּבַבֹּ֖קֶר תִּשְׂבְּעוּ־לָ֑חֶם וִֽידַעְתֶּ֕ם כִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃
εἰσακήκοα τὸν γογγυσμὸν τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ λάλησον πρὸς αὐτοὺς λέγων τὸ πρὸς ἑσπέραν ἔδεσθε κρέα καὶ τὸ πρωὶ πλησθήσεσθε ἄρτων καὶ γνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν
Audivi murmurationes filiorum Israël. Loquere ad eos : Vespere comedetis carnes, et mane saturabimini panibus : scietisque quod ego sum Dominus Deus vester.
ሰማዕኩ ፡ ነጐርጓሮሙ ፡ ለውሉደ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወበሎሙ ፡ ሰርከ ፡ ትበልዑ ፡ ሥጋ ፡ ወጸቢሖ ፡ ትጸግቡ ፡ ኅብስተ ፡ ወታአምሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ አነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ፈጣሬ ፡ ዚአክሙ ።
“I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At evening you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am Yahweh your God.’”
16:13
וַיְהִ֣י בָעֶ֔רֶב וַתַּ֣עַל הַשְּׂלָ֔ו וַתְּכַ֖ס אֶת־הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה וּבַבֹּ֗קֶר הָֽיְתָה֙ שִׁכְבַ֣ת הַטַּ֔ל סָבִ֖יב לַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃
ἐγένετο δὲ ἑσπέρα καὶ ἀνέβη ὀρτυγομήτρα καὶ ἐκάλυψεν τὴν παρεμβολήν τὸ πρωὶ ἐγένετο καταπαυομένης τῆς δρόσου κύκλῳ τῆς παρεμβολῆς
Factum est ergo vespere, et ascendens coturnix, cooperuit castra : mane quoque ros jacuit per circuitum castrorum.
ወመስየ ፡ ወመጽአ ፡ ፍርፍርት ፡ ወከደነ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ትዕይንቶሙ ፡ ወነግሀ ፡ እንዘ ፡ የኀድግ ፡ ህቦ ፡ በኵርጓኔ ፡ ትዕይንቶሙ ፤
In the evening, quail came up and covered the camp; and in the morning the dew lay around the camp.
16:14
וַתַּ֖עַל שִׁכְבַ֣ת הַטָּ֑ל וְהִנֵּ֞ה עַל־פְּנֵ֤י הַמִּדְבָּר֙ דַּ֣ק מְחֻסְפָּ֔ס דַּ֥ק כַּכְּפֹ֖ר עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον τῆς ἐρήμου λεπτὸν ὡσεὶ κόριον λευκὸν ὡσεὶ πάγος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς
Cumque operuisset superficiem terrae, apparuit in solitudine minutum, et quasi pilo tusum in similitudinem pruinae super terram.
እምፍጽመ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ድቁቅ ፡ ከመ ፡ ተቅዳ ፡ ወጸዐዳ ፡ ከመ ፡ አስሐትያ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ።
When the dew that lay had gone, behold, on the surface of the wilderness was a small round thing, small as the frost on the ground.
16:15
וַיִּרְא֣וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ אִ֤ישׁ אֶל־אָחִיו֙ מָ֣ן ה֔וּא כִּ֛י לֹ֥א יָדְע֖וּ מַה־ה֑וּא וַיֹּ֤אמֶר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם ה֣וּא הַלֶּ֔חֶם אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֧ן יְהֹוָ֛ה לָכֶ֖ם לְאׇכְלָֽה׃
ἰδόντες δὲ αὐτὸ οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ εἶπαν ἕτερος τῷ ἑτέρῳ τί ἐστιν τοῦτο οὐ γὰρ ᾔδεισαν τί ἦν εἶπεν δὲ Μωυσῆς πρὸς αὐτούς οὗτος ὁ ἄρτος ὃν ἔδωκεν κύριος ὑμῖν φαγεῖν
Quod cum vidissent filii Israël, dixerunt ad invicem : Manhu ? quod significat : Quid est hoc ? ignorabant enim quid esset. Quibus ait Moyses : Iste est panis quem Dominus dedit vobis ad vescendum.
ወርእዩ ፡ ውሉደ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ለካልኡ ፡ ምንት ፡ ውእቱዝ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኢያአምሩ ፡ ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ዝውእቱ ፡ ኅብስት ፡ ዘወሀበክሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ ትብልዑ ።
When the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they didn’t know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread which Yahweh has given you to eat.
16:16
זֶ֤ה הַדָּבָר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוָּ֣ה יְהֹוָ֔ה לִקְט֣וּ מִמֶּ֔נּוּ אִ֖ישׁ לְפִ֣י אׇכְל֑וֹ עֹ֣מֶר לַגֻּלְגֹּ֗לֶת מִסְפַּר֙ נַפְשֹׁ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם אִ֛ישׁ לַאֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּאׇהֳל֖וֹ תִּקָּֽחוּ׃
τοῦτο τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ συνέταξεν κύριος συναγάγετε ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ ἕκαστος εἰς τοὺς καθήκοντας γομορ κατὰ κεφαλὴν κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ψυχῶν ὑμῶν ἕκαστος σὺν τοῖς συσκηνίοις ὑμῶν συλλέξατε
Hic est sermo, quem praecepit Dominus : Colligat unusquisque ex eo quantum sufficit ad vescendum : gomor per singula capita, juxta numerum animarum vestrarum quae habitant in tabernaculo sic tolletis.
ዝውእቱ ፡ ቃል ፡ ዘይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አስተጋብኡ ፡ እምውስቴቱ ፡ በንዋይክሙ ፡ ለለ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ በበ ፡ ኊልቈ ፡ ሰብኡ ፡ ለለርእሱ ፡ በንዋዩ ፡ ለያስተጋብእ ።
This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded: ‘Gather of it everyone according to his eating; an omer a head, according to the number of your persons, you shall take it, every man for those who are in his tent.’”
16:17
וַיַּעֲשׂוּ־כֵ֖ן בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַֽיִּלְקְט֔וּ הַמַּרְבֶּ֖ה וְהַמַּמְעִֽיט׃
ἐποίησαν δὲ οὕτως οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ καὶ συνέλεξαν ὁ τὸ πολὺ καὶ ὁ τὸ ἔλαττον
Feceruntque ita filii Israël : et collegerunt, alius plus, alius minus.
ወገብሩ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ውሉደ ፡ እስራኤል ፤ አስተጋብኡ ፡ ዘብዙኅኒ ፡ ወዘሕዳጥኒ ።
The children of Israel did so, and some gathered more, some less.
16:18
וַיָּמֹ֣דּוּ בָעֹ֔מֶר וְלֹ֤א הֶעְדִּיף֙ הַמַּרְבֶּ֔ה וְהַמַּמְעִ֖יט לֹ֣א הֶחְסִ֑יר אִ֥ישׁ לְפִֽי־אׇכְל֖וֹ לָקָֽטוּ׃
καὶ μετρήσαντες τῷ γομορ οὐκ ἐπλεόνασεν ὁ τὸ πολύ καὶ ὁ τὸ ἔλαττον οὐκ ἠλαττόνησεν ἕκαστος εἰς τοὺς καθήκοντας παρ’ ἑαυτῷ συνέλεξαν
Et mensi sunt ad mensuram gomor : nec qui plus collegerat, habuit amplius : nec qui minus paraverat, reperit minus : sed singuli juxta id quod edere poterant, congregaverunt.
ወሰፈሩ ፡ በጎሞር ፡ ወኢፈድፈደ ፡ ለዘ ፡ ብዙኀ ፡ አስተጋብአ ፡ ወኢኀጸጸ ፡ ለዘ ፡ ኅዳጠ ፡ አስተጋብአ ፤ ብእሲ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ለለማኅደሩ ፡ አስቲጋብአ ።
When they measured it with an omer, he who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack. They each gathered according to his eating.
16:19
וַיֹּ֥אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֲלֵהֶ֑ם אִ֕ישׁ אַל־יוֹתֵ֥ר מִמֶּ֖נּוּ עַד־בֹּֽקֶר׃
εἶπεν δὲ Μωυσῆς πρὸς αὐτούς μηδεὶς καταλιπέτω ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πρωί
Dixitque Moyses ad eos : Nullus relinquat ex eo in mane.
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወኢታትርፉ ፡ ለጌሠም ።
Moses said to them, “Let no one leave of it until the morning.”
16:20
וְלֹא־שָׁמְע֣וּ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֗ה וַיּוֹתִ֨רוּ אֲנָשִׁ֤ים מִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙ עַד־בֹּ֔קֶר וַיָּ֥רֻם תּוֹלָעִ֖ים וַיִּבְאַ֑שׁ וַיִּקְצֹ֥ף עֲלֵהֶ֖ם מֹשֶֽׁה׃
καὶ οὐκ εἰσήκουσαν Μωυσῆ ἀλλὰ κατέλιπόν τινες ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πρωί καὶ ἐξέζεσεν σκώληκας καὶ ἐπώζεσεν καὶ ἐπικράνθη ἐπ’ αὐτοῖς Μωυσῆς
Qui non audierunt eum, sed dimiserunt quidam ex eis usque mane, et scatere coepit vermibus, atque computruit : et iratus est contra eos Moyses.
ወኢሰምዕዎ ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ ወአቤቱ ፡ ለነግህ ፡ ወዐጽየ ፡ ወጼአ ፡ ወተምዐ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ በላዕሌሆሙ ።
Notwithstanding they didn’t listen to Moses, but some of them left of it until the morning, so it bred worms and became foul; and Moses was angry with them.
16:21
וַיִּלְקְט֤וּ אֹתוֹ֙ בַּבֹּ֣קֶר בַּבֹּ֔קֶר אִ֖ישׁ כְּפִ֣י אׇכְל֑וֹ וְחַ֥ם הַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ וְנָמָֽס׃
καὶ συνέλεξαν αὐτὸ πρωὶ πρωί ἕκαστος τὸ καθῆκον αὐτῷ ἡνίκα δὲ διεθέρμαινεν ὁ ἥλιος ἐτήκετο
Colligebant autem mane singuli, quantum sufficere poterat ad vescendum : cumque incaluisset sol, liquefiebat.
ወአስተጋብኡ ፡ በበነግህ ፡ ለለርእሱ ፡ ወእምከመ ፡ ሞቀ ፡ ፀሐይ ፡ ይምሁ ።
They gathered it morning by morning, everyone according to his eating. When the sun grew hot, it melted.
16:22
וַיְהִ֣י׀ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשִּׁשִּׁ֗י לָֽקְט֥וּ לֶ֙חֶם֙ מִשְׁנֶ֔ה שְׁנֵ֥י הָעֹ֖מֶר לָאֶחָ֑ד וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ כׇּל־נְשִׂיאֵ֣י הָֽעֵדָ֔ה וַיַּגִּ֖ידוּ לְמֹשֶֽׁה׃
ἐγένετο δὲ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἕκτῃ συνέλεξαν τὰ δέοντα διπλᾶ δύο Γομορ τῷ ἑνί εἰσήλθοσαν δὲ πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες τῆς συναγωγῆς καὶ ἀνήγγειλαν Μωυσεῖ
In die autem sexta collegerunt cibos duplices, id est, duo gomor per singulos homines : venerunt autem omnes principes multitudinis, et narraverunt Moysi.
ወበዕለተ ፡ ዐርብ ፡ ያስተጋብኡ ፡ ካዕበተ ፡ ጎሞር ፡ ለለአሐዱ ፡ ወቦአ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ መኳንንተ ፡ ማኅበር ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ለሙሴ ።
On the sixth day, they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one; and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
16:23
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֗ם ה֚וּא אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה שַׁבָּת֧וֹן שַׁבַּת־קֹ֛דֶשׁ לַֽיהֹוָ֖ה מָחָ֑ר אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־תֹּאפ֞וּ אֵפ֗וּ וְאֵ֤ת אֲשֶֽׁר־תְּבַשְּׁלוּ֙ בַּשֵּׁ֔לוּ וְאֵת֙ כׇּל־הָ֣עֹדֵ֔ף הַנִּ֧יחוּ לָכֶ֛ם לְמִשְׁמֶ֖רֶת עַד־הַבֹּֽקֶר׃
εἶπεν δὲ Μωυσῆς πρὸς αὐτούς τοῦτο τὸ ῥῆμά ἐστιν ὃ ἐλάλησεν κύριος σάββατα ἀνάπαυσις ἁγία τῷ κυρίῳ αὔριον ὅσα ἐὰν πέσσητε πέσσετε καὶ ὅσα ἐὰν ἕψητε ἕψετε καὶ πᾶν τὸ πλεονάζον καταλίπετε αὐτὸ εἰς ἀποθήκην εἰς τὸ πρωί
Qui ait eis : Hoc est quod locutus est Dominus : Requies sabbati sanctificata est Domino cras : quodcumque operandum est, facite, et quae coquenda sunt coquite : quidquid autem reliquum fuerit, reponite usque in mane.
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ዝውእቱ ፡ ዘይቤሎሙ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ሰንበተ ፡ ዕረፍት ፡ ወቡርክት ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ጌሠመ ፤ ዘትግበሩ ፡ ሀለወክሙ ፡ ግበሩ ፤ ወዘታብስሉ ፡ ሀለወክሙ ፡ አብስሉ ፤ ወዘተርፈ ፡ አትርፉ ።
He said to them, “This is that which Yahweh has spoken, ‘Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to Yahweh. Bake that which you want to bake, and boil that which you want to boil; and all that remains over lay up for yourselves to be kept until the morning.’”
16:24
וַיַּנִּ֤יחוּ אֹתוֹ֙ עַד־הַבֹּ֔קֶר כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֣ה מֹשֶׁ֑ה וְלֹ֣א הִבְאִ֔ישׁ וְרִמָּ֖ה לֹא־הָ֥יְתָה בּֽוֹ׃
καὶ κατελίποσαν ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πρωί καθάπερ συνέταξεν αὐτοῖς Μωυσῆς καὶ οὐκ ἐπώζεσεν οὐδὲ σκώληξ ἐγένετο ἐν αὐτῷ
Feceruntque ita ut praeceperat Moyses, et non computruit, neque vermis inventus est in eo.
ወአትረፉ ፡ ለነግህ ፡ በከመ ፡ አዘዘ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ወኢጼአ ፡ ወዕጼሂ ፡ ኢተፈጥረ ፡ በላዕሌሁ ።
They laid it up until the morning, as Moses ordered, and it didn’t become foul, and there were no worms in it.
16:25
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר מֹשֶׁה֙ אִכְלֻ֣הוּ הַיּ֔וֹם כִּֽי־שַׁבָּ֥ת הַיּ֖וֹם לַיהֹוָ֑ה הַיּ֕וֹם לֹ֥א תִמְצָאֻ֖הוּ בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃
εἶπεν δὲ Μωυσῆς φάγετε σήμερον ἔστιν γὰρ σάββατα σήμερον τῷ κυρίῳ οὐχ εὑρεθήσεται ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ
Dixitque Moyses : Comedite illud hodie, quia sabbatum est Domini : non invenietur hodie in agro.
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ብልዑ ፡ ዮም ፡ እስመ ፡ ዮም ፡ ሰንበት ፡ ዘእግዚአብሔር ፡ ኢትረክቡ ፡ በገዳም ።
Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to Yahweh. Today you shall not find it in the field.
16:26
שֵׁ֥שֶׁת יָמִ֖ים תִּלְקְטֻ֑הוּ וּבַיּ֧וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֛י שַׁבָּ֖ת לֹ֥א יִֽהְיֶה־בּֽוֹ׃
ἓξ ἡμέρας συλλέξετε τῇ δὲ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ σάββατα ὅτι οὐκ ἔσται ἐν αὐτῇ
Sex diebus colligite : in die autem septimo sabbatum est Domini, idcirco non invenietur.
ሰዱሰ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ ታስተጋብኡ ፡ ወአመ ፡ ሳብዕት ፡ ዕለት ፡ ሰንበት ፡ አሜሃ ፡ ኢትረክቡ ።
Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day is the Sabbath. In it there shall be none.”
16:27
וַֽיְהִי֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י יָצְא֥וּ מִן־הָעָ֖ם לִלְקֹ֑ט וְלֹ֖א מָצָֽאוּ׃ {ס}
ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ ἐξήλθοσάν τινες ἐκ τοῦ λαοῦ συλλέξαι καὶ οὐχ εὗρον
Venitque septima dies : et egressi de populo ut colligerent, non invenerunt.
ወአመ ፡ ሳብዕት ፡ ዕለት ፡ ቦዘወፅአ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ከመ ፡ ያስተጋብእ ፡ ወኢረከበ ።
On the seventh day, some of the people went out to gather, and they found none.
16:28
וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֑ה עַד־אָ֙נָה֙ מֵֽאַנְתֶּ֔ם לִשְׁמֹ֥ר מִצְוֺתַ֖י וְתוֹרֹתָֽי׃
εἶπεν δὲ κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἕως τίνος οὐ βούλεσθε εἰσακούειν τὰς ἐντολάς μου καὶ τὸν νόμον μου
Dixit autem Dominus ad Moysen : Usquequo non vultis custodire mandata mea et legem meam ?
ወይቤሎ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ እስከ ፡ ማእዜ ፡ ተአብዩ ፡ ትእዛዝየ ፡ ሰሚዐ ፡ ወሕግየ ።
Yahweh said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?
16:29
רְא֗וּ כִּֽי־יְהֹוָה֮ נָתַ֣ן לָכֶ֣ם הַשַּׁבָּת֒ עַל־כֵּ֠ן ה֣וּא נֹתֵ֥ן לָכֶ֛ם בַּיּ֥וֹם הַשִּׁשִּׁ֖י לֶ֣חֶם יוֹמָ֑יִם שְׁב֣וּ׀ אִ֣ישׁ תַּחְתָּ֗יו אַל־יֵ֥צֵא אִ֛ישׁ מִמְּקֹמ֖וֹ בַּיּ֥וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִֽי׃
ἴδετε ὁ γὰρ κύριος ἔδωκεν ὑμῖν τὴν ἡμέραν ταύτην τὰ σάββατα διὰ τοῦτο αὐτὸς ἔδωκεν ὑμῖν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἕκτῃ ἄρτους δύο ἡμερῶν καθήσεσθε ἕκαστος εἰς τοὺς οἴκους ὑμῶν μηδεὶς ἐκπορευέσθω ἐκ τοῦ τόπου αὐτοῦ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ
videte quod Dominus dederit vobis sabbatum, et propter hoc die sexta tribuit vobis cibos duplices : maneat unusquisque apud semetipsum ; nullus egrediatur de loco suo die septimo.
ርእዩ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወሀበክሙ ፡ ዘዕለተ ፡ ሰንበት ፡ በእንተዝ ፡ ወሀበክሙ ፡ በዕለተ ፡ ዐርብ ፡ ምሳሐ ፡ ለክልኤ ፡ ዕለት ፡ ወይንበር ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ማኅደሩ ፡ ወኢይፃእ ፡ እምንባሪሁ ፡ አመ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ ሰንበት ።
Behold, because Yahweh has given you the Sabbath, therefore he gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days. Everyone stay in his place. Let no one go out of his place on the seventh day.”
16:30
וַיִּשְׁבְּת֥וּ הָעָ֖ם בַּיּ֥וֹם הַשְּׁבִעִֽי׃
καὶ ἐσαββάτισεν ὁ λαὸς τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ
Et sabbatizavit populus die septimo.
ወአሰንበተ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ በዕለተ ፡ ሰንበት ።
So the people rested on the seventh day.
16:31
וַיִּקְרְא֧וּ בֵֽית־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אֶת־שְׁמ֖וֹ מָ֑ן וְה֗וּא כְּזֶ֤רַע גַּד֙ לָבָ֔ן וְטַעְמ֖וֹ כְּצַפִּיחִ֥ת בִּדְבָֽשׁ׃
καὶ ἐπωνόμασαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Μαν ἦν δὲ ὡς σπέρμα κορίου λευκόν τὸ δὲ γεῦμα αὐτοῦ ὡς ἐγκρὶς ἐν μέλιτι
Appellavitque domus Israël nomen ejus Man : quod erat quasi semen coriandri album, gustusque ejus quasi similae cum melle.
ወሰመይዎ ፡ ውሉደ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ መና ፡ ወከመ ፡ ፍሬ ፡ ተቅዳ ፡ ጸዐዳ ፡ ወጣዕሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢያተ ፡ መዓር ።
The house of Israel called its name “Manna”, and it was like coriander seed, white; and its taste was like wafers with honey.
16:32
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֗ה זֶ֤ה הַדָּבָר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוָּ֣ה יְהֹוָ֔ה מְלֹ֤א הָעֹ֙מֶר֙ מִמֶּ֔נּוּ לְמִשְׁמֶ֖רֶת לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶ֑ם לְמַ֣עַן׀ יִרְא֣וּ אֶת־הַלֶּ֗חֶם אֲשֶׁ֨ר הֶאֱכַ֤לְתִּי אֶתְכֶם֙ בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר בְּהוֹצִיאִ֥י אֶתְכֶ֖ם מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
εἶπεν δὲ Μωυσῆς τοῦτο τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ συνέταξεν κύριος πλήσατε τὸ γομορ τοῦ μαν εἰς ἀποθήκην εἰς τὰς γενεὰς ὑμῶν ἵνα ἴδωσιν τὸν ἄρτον ὃν ἐφάγετε ὑμεῖς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ὡς ἐξήγαγεν ὑμᾶς κύριος ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου
Dixit autem Moyses : Iste est sermo, quem praecepit Dominus : Imple gomor ex eo, et custodiatur in futuras retro generationes : ut noverint panem, quo alui vos in solitudine, quando educti estis de terra Aegypti.
ወይቤ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ዝቃል ፡ ዘአዘዘ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ ትምልኡ ፡ ጎሞር ፡ መና ፡ ውስተ ፡ መሣይምቲክሙ ፡ ለዘመድክሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይርአዩ ፡ ኅብስተ ፡ ዘበላዕክሙ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ በገዳም ፡ አመ ፡ አውፅአክሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ።
Moses said, “This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded, ‘Let an omer-full of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’”
16:33
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֗ן קַ֚ח צִנְצֶ֣נֶת אַחַ֔ת וְתֶן־שָׁ֥מָּה מְלֹֽא־הָעֹ֖מֶר מָ֑ן וְהַנַּ֤ח אֹתוֹ֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה לְמִשְׁמֶ֖רֶת לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶֽם׃
καὶ εἶπεν Μωυσῆς πρὸς Ααρων λαβὲ στάμνον χρυσοῦν ἕνα καὶ ἔμβαλε εἰς αὐτὸν πλῆρες τὸ γομορ τοῦ μαν καὶ ἀποθήσεις αὐτὸ ἐναντίον τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς διατήρησιν εἰς τὰς γενεὰς ὑμῶν
Dixitque Moyses ad Aaron : Sume vas unum, et mitte ibi man, quantum potest capere gomor, et repone coram Domino ad servandum in generationes vestras,
ወይቤሎ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ለአሮን ፡ ንሣእ ፡ ቈጽለ ፡ ወርቅ ፡ አሐተ ፡ ረቃቀ ፡ ወግሉ ፡ ባቲ ፡ ጎሞር ፡ ዘመና ፡ ወታነብራ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለደኃሪ ፡ መዋዕል ፡ ለአዝማዲክሙ ።
Moses said to Aaron, “Take a pot, and put an omer-full of manna in it, and lay it up before Yahweh, to be kept throughout your generations.”
16:34
כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיַּנִּיחֵ֧הוּ אַהֲרֹ֛ן לִפְנֵ֥י הָעֵדֻ֖ת לְמִשְׁמָֽרֶת׃
ὃν τρόπον συνέταξεν κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ καὶ ἀπέθετο Ααρων ἐναντίον τοῦ μαρτυρίου εἰς διατήρησιν
sicut praecepit Dominus Moysi. Posuitque illud Aaron in tabernaculo reservandum.
እስመ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ አዘዞ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ [ወአንበሮ ፡ አሮን ፡] በቅድመ ፡ መርጡል ፡ ከመ ፡ ይትዐቀብ ።
As Yahweh commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.
16:35
וּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אָֽכְל֤וּ אֶת־הַמָּן֙ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה עַד־בֹּאָ֖ם אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ נוֹשָׁ֑בֶת אֶת־הַמָּן֙ אָֽכְל֔וּ עַד־בֹּאָ֕ם אֶל־קְצֵ֖ה אֶ֥רֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃
οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἔφαγον τὸ μαν ἔτη τεσσαράκοντα ἕως ἦλθον εἰς γῆν οἰκουμένην τὸ μαν ἐφάγοσαν ἕως παρεγένοντο εἰς μέρος τῆς Φοινίκης
Filii autem Israël comederunt man quadraginta annis, donec venirent in terram habitabilem : hoc cibo aliti sunt, usquequo tangerent fines terrae Chanaan.
[ወ]ውሉደ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ በልዑ ፡ መና ፡ ፴ክረምተ ፡ እስከ ፡ ይበጽሑ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ያነብሮሙ ፡ በልዑ ፡ መና ፡ እስከ ፡ ይበጽሑ ፡ ደወለ ፡ ፊኒቅ ።
The children of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate the manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.
16:36
וְהָעֹ֕מֶר עֲשִׂרִ֥ית הָאֵיפָ֖ה הֽוּא׃ {פ}
τὸ δὲ γομορ τὸ δέκατον τῶν τριῶν μέτρων ἦν
Gomor autem decima pars est ephi.
ወጎሞር ፡ ዐሠርቱ ፡ እድ ፡ ዘ፫መስፈርት ፡ ይእቲ ።
