20:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִ֣י ׀ בַּשָּׁנָ֣ה הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗ית בַּחֲמִשִׁי֙ בֶּעָשׂ֣וֹר לַחֹ֔דֶשׁ בָּ֧אוּ אֲנָשִׁ֛ים מִזִּקְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לִדְרֹ֣שׁ אֶת ־יְהֹוָ֑ה וַיֵּשְׁב֖וּ לְפָנָֽי ׃ {ס}
καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ ἑβδόμῳ ἐν τῷ πέμπτῳ μηνὶ δεκάτῃ τοῦ μηνὸς ἦλθον ἄνδρες ἐκ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων οἴκου Ισραηλ ἐπερωτῆσαι τὸν κύριον καὶ ἐκάθισαν πρὸ προσώπου μου
Et factum est in anno septimo , in quinto , in decima mensis , venerunt viri de senioribus Israël ut interrogarent Dominum , et sederunt coram me .
ወእምዝ ፡ አመ ፡ ሳብዕት ፡ ዓመት ፣፡ በኃምስ ፡ ወርኅ ፡ አመ ፡ ዐሡረ ፡ ሠርቅ ፡ መጽኡ ፡ ኀቤየ ፡ ዕደው ፡ እምረበናተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ይሰአልዎ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወነበሩ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ገጽየ ።
In the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, some of the elders of Israel came to inquire of Yahweh, and sat before me.
20:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר ־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρός με λέγων
Et factus est sermo Domini ad me , dicens :
ወነበበኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወይቤለኒ ።
Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,
20:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ בֶּן ־אָדָ֗ם דַּבֵּ֞ר אֶת ־זִקְנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵהֶ֗ם כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה הֲלִדְרֹ֥שׁ אֹתִ֖י אַתֶּ֣ם בָּאִ֑ים חַי ־אָ֙נִי֙ אִם ־אִדָּרֵ֣שׁ לָכֶ֔ם נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יֱהֹוִֽה ׃
υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου λάλησον πρὸς τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους τοῦ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς τάδε λέγει κύριος εἰ ἐπερωτῆσαί με ὑμεῖς ἔρχεσθε ζῶ ἐγὼ εἰ ἀποκριθήσομαι ὑμῖν λέγει κύριος
Fili hominis , loquere senioribus Israël , et dices ad eos : Haec dicit Dominus Deus : Numquid ad interrogandum me vos venistis ? vivo ego quia non respondebo vobis , ait Dominus Deus .
ወልደ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ ንግሮሙ ፡ ለረበናተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወበሎሙ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ አዶናይ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ትሴአሉኒሁ ፡ መጻእክሙ ፡ ሕያው ፡ አነ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይሠጠወክሙ ፡ ይቤ ፡ አዶናይ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
“Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Is it to inquire of me that you have come? As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh, “I will not be inquired of by you.”’
20:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ הֲתִשְׁפֹּ֣ט אֹתָ֔ם הֲתִשְׁפּ֖וֹט בֶּן ־אָדָ֑ם אֶת ־תּוֹעֲבֹ֥ת אֲבוֹתָ֖ם הוֹדִיעֵֽם ׃
εἰ ἐκδικήσω αὐτοὺς ἐκδικήσει υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου τὰς ἀνομίας τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν διαμάρτυραι αὐτοῖς
Si judicas eos , si judicas , fili hominis , abominationes patrum eorum ostende eis .
ዳእሙ ፡ ተዋቅሦ ፡ እትዋቀሠክሙ ፡ ወልደ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ ኃጢአተ ፡ አበዊሆሙ ፡ አስምዕ ፡ ሎሙ ።
“Will you judge them, son of man? Will you judge them? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers.
20:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם כֹּה ־אָמַר֮ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִה֒ בְּיוֹם֙ בׇּחֳרִ֣י בְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וָאֶשָּׂ֣א יָדִ֗י לְזֶ֙רַע֙ בֵּ֣ית יַעֲקֹ֔ב וָאִוָּדַ֥ע לָהֶ֖ם בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם וָאֶשָּׂ֨א יָדִ֤י לָהֶם֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר אֲנִ֖י יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם ׃
καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς τάδε λέγει κύριος ἀφ’ ἧς ἡμέρας ᾑρέτισα τὸν οἶκον Ισραηλ καὶ ἐγνωρίσθην τῷ σπέρματι οἴκου Ιακωβ καὶ ἐγνώσθην αὐτοῖς ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἀντελαβόμην τῇ χειρί μου αὐτῶν λέγων ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν
Et dices ad eos : Haec dicit Dominus Deus : In die qua elegi Israël , et levavi manum meam pro stirpe domus Jacob , et apparui eis in terra Aegypti , et levavi manum meam pro eis , dicens : Ego Dominus Deus vester :
ወበሎሙ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ አዶናይ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እምአመ ፡ ኀረይክዎ ፡ ለቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወአስተርአይክዎ ፡ ለዘርአ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ወተአመርኩ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ በብሔረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወተወከፍክዎሙ ፡ በእዴየ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አነ ፡ አምላክክሙ ።
Tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “In the day when I chose Israel, and swore to the offspring of the house of Jacob, and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I swore to them, saying, ‘I am Yahweh your God;’
20:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא נָשָׂ֤אתִי יָדִי֙ לָהֶ֔ם לְהוֹצִיאָ֖ם מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם אֶל ־אֶ֜רֶץ אֲשֶׁר ־תַּ֣רְתִּי לָהֶ֗ם זָבַ֤ת חָלָב֙ וּדְבַ֔שׁ צְבִ֥י הִ֖יא לְכׇל ־הָאֲרָצֽוֹת ׃
ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἀντελαβόμην τῇ χειρί μου αὐτῶν τοῦ ἐξαγαγεῖν αὐτοὺς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν ἡτοίμασα αὐτοῖς γῆν ῥέουσαν γάλα καὶ μέλι κηρίον ἐστὶν παρὰ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν
in die illa levavi manum meam pro eis ut educerem eos de terra Aegypti , in terram quam provideram eis , fluentem lacte et melle , quae est egregia inter omnes terras .
ውእተ ፡ አሚረ ፡ አልዐልክዎሙ ፡ በእዴየ ፡ ከመ ፡ አውፅኦሙ ፡ እምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ዘአስተዳለውኩ ፡ ሎሙ ፣፡ ምድረ ፡ ዘያውኅዝ ፡ ሐሊበ ፡ ወመዐረ ፡ እንተ ፡ ትጥዕም ፡ እምኵሉ ፡ ምድር ።
in that day I swore to them to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands.
20:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֹמַ֣ר אֲלֵהֶ֗ם אִ֣ישׁ שִׁקּוּצֵ֤י עֵינָיו֙ הַשְׁלִ֔יכוּ וּבְגִלּוּלֵ֥י מִצְרַ֖יִם אַל ־תִּטַּמָּ֑אוּ אֲנִ֖י יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם ׃
καὶ εἶπα πρὸς αὐτούς ἕκαστος τὰ βδελύγματα τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτοῦ ἀπορριψάτω καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἐπιτηδεύμασιν Αἰγύπτου μὴ μιαίνεσθε ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν
Et dixi ad eos : Unusquisque offensiones oculorum suorum abjiciat , et in idolis Aegypti nolite pollui : ego Dominus Deus vester .
ወእቤሎሙ ፡ ግድፉ ፡ ኵልክሙ ፡ ርኵሰክሙ ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ አዕይንቲክሙ ፡ ወኢትርኰሱ ፡ በጣዖቶሙ ፡ ለግብጽ ፡ አነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክክሙ ።
I said to them, ‘Each of you throw away the abominations of his eyes. Don’t defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am Yahweh your God.’
20:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּמְרוּ ־בִ֗י וְלֹ֤א אָבוּ֙ לִשְׁמֹ֣עַ אֵלַ֔י אִ֣ישׁ אֶת ־שִׁקּוּצֵ֤י עֵֽינֵיהֶם֙ לֹ֣א הִשְׁלִ֔יכוּ וְאֶת ־גִּלּוּלֵ֥י מִצְרַ֖יִם לֹ֣א עָזָ֑בוּ וָאֹמַ֞ר לִשְׁפֹּ֧ךְ חֲמָתִ֣י עֲלֵיהֶ֗ם לְכַלּ֤וֹת אַפִּי֙ בָּהֶ֔ם בְּת֖וֹךְ אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם ׃
καὶ ἀπέστησαν ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησαν εἰσακοῦσαί μου τὰ βδελύγματα τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτῶν οὐκ ἀπέρριψαν καὶ τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα Αἰγύπτου οὐκ ἐγκατέλιπον καὶ εἶπα τοῦ ἐκχέαι τὸν θυμόν μου ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς τοῦ συντελέσαι τὴν ὀργήν μου ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐν μέσῳ γῆς Αἰγύπτου
Et irritaverunt me , nolueruntque me audire : unusquisque abominationes oculorum suorum non projecit , nec idola Aegypti reliquerunt . Et dixi ut effunderem indignationem meam super eos , et implerem iram meam in eis , in medio terrae Aegypti .
ወዐለዉኒ ፡ ወአበዩ ፡ ሰሚዖትየ ፡ ወኢገደፉ ፡ ርኵሰ ፡ እምአዕይንቲሆሙ ፡ ወኢኀደጉ ፡ ጣዖቶሙ ፡ ለግብጽ ። ወእቤ ፡ እሰውጥ ፡ መዐትየ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ እሠልጥ ፡ መቅሠፍትየ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ በማእከለ ፡ ግብጽ ።
“‘“But they rebelled against me and wouldn’t listen to me. They didn’t all throw away the abominations of their eyes. They also didn’t forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the middle of the land of Egypt.
20:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאַ֙עַשׂ֙ לְמַ֣עַן שְׁמִ֔י לְבִלְתִּ֥י הֵחֵ֛ל לְעֵינֵ֥י הַגּוֹיִ֖ם אֲשֶׁר ־הֵ֣מָּה בְתוֹכָ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֨ר נוֹדַ֤עְתִּי אֲלֵיהֶם֙ לְעֵ֣ינֵיהֶ֔ם לְהוֹצִיאָ֖ם מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם ׃
καὶ ἐποίησα ὅπως τὸ ὄνομά μου τὸ παράπαν μὴ βεβηλωθῇ ἐνώπιον τῶν ἐθνῶν ὧν αὐτοί εἰσιν ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν ἐν οἷς ἐγνώσθην πρὸς αὐτοὺς ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν τοῦ ἐξαγαγεῖν αὐτοὺς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου
Et feci propter nomen meum , ut non violaretur coram gentibus in quarum medio erant , et inter quas apparui eis ut educerem eos de terra Aegypti .
ወገበርኩ ፡ ከመ ፡ ስምየ ፡ ዘመልዕልተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ኢይርኰስ ፡ በቅድመ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ እለ ፡ ሀለዉ ፡ ማእከሎሙ ፣፡ እለ ፡ አስተርአይኩ ፡ በኀቤሆሙ ፡ ወበቅድሜሆሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ አውፅኦሙ ፡ እምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ።
But I worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among which they were, in whose sight I made myself known to them in bringing them out of the land of Egypt.
20:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאוֹצִיאֵ֖ם מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם וָאֲבִאֵ֖ם אֶל ־הַמִּדְבָּֽר ׃
καὶ ἐξήγαγον αὐτοὺς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἤγαγον αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν ἔρημον
Ejeci ergo eos de terra Aegypti , et eduxi eos in desertum .
ወአውፃእክዎሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ።
So I caused them to go out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.
20:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֶתֵּ֤ן לָהֶם֙ אֶת ־חֻקּוֹתַ֔י וְאֶת ־מִשְׁפָּטַ֖י הוֹדַ֣עְתִּי אוֹתָ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֨ר יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה אוֹתָ֛ם הָאָדָ֖ם וָחַ֥י בָּהֶֽם ׃
καὶ ἔδωκα αὐτοῖς τὰ προστάγματά μου καὶ τὰ δικαιώματά μου ἐγνώρισα αὐτοῖς ὅσα ποιήσει αὐτὰ ἄνθρωπος καὶ ζήσεται ἐν αὐτοῖς
Et dedi eis praecepta mea , et judicia mea ostendi eis , quae faciens homo vivet in eis .
ወወሀብክዎሙ ፡ ሕግየ ፣፡ ወሥርዓትየ ፡ ነገርክዎሙ ፡ ዘይገብሮ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ ወየሐዩ ፡ ቦቱ ።
I gave them my statutes and showed them my ordinances, which if a man does, he will live in them.
20:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְגַ֤ם אֶת ־שַׁבְּתוֹתַי֙ נָתַ֣תִּי לָהֶ֔ם לִהְי֣וֹת לְא֔וֹת בֵּינִ֖י וּבֵינֵיהֶ֑ם לָדַ֕עַת כִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה מְקַדְּשָֽׁם ׃
καὶ τὰ σάββατά μου ἔδωκα αὐτοῖς τοῦ εἶναι εἰς σημεῖον ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον αὐτῶν τοῦ γνῶναι αὐτοὺς διότι ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ ἁγιάζων αὐτούς
Insuper et sabbata mea dedi eis , ut essent signum inter me et eos , et scirent quia ego Dominus sanctificans eos .
ወወሀብክዎሙ ፡ ሰንበታትየ ፡ ዘይከውኖሙ ፡ ትእምርተ ፡ በማእከሌየ ፡ ወበማእከሎሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ አርእዮሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ አነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዘእቄድሶሙ ።
Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.
20:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּמְרוּ ־בִ֨י בֵֽית ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל בַּמִּדְבָּ֗ר בְּחֻקּוֹתַ֨י לֹא ־הָלָ֜כוּ וְאֶת ־מִשְׁפָּטַ֣י מָאָ֗סוּ אֲשֶׁר֩ יַעֲשֶׂ֨ה אֹתָ֤ם הָֽאָדָם֙ וָחַ֣י בָּהֶ֔ם וְאֶת ־שַׁבְּתֹתַ֖י חִלְּל֣וּ מְאֹ֑ד וָאֹמַ֞ר לִשְׁפֹּ֨ךְ חֲמָתִ֧י עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר לְכַלּוֹתָֽם ׃
καὶ εἶπα πρὸς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Ισραηλ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἐν τοῖς προστάγμασίν μου πορεύεσθε καὶ οὐκ ἐπορεύθησαν καὶ τὰ δικαιώματά μου ἀπώσαντο ἃ ποιήσει αὐτὰ ἄνθρωπος καὶ ζήσεται ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ τὰ σάββατά μου ἐβεβήλωσαν σφόδρα καὶ εἶπα τοῦ ἐκχέαι τὸν θυμόν μου ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τοῦ ἐξαναλῶσαι αὐτούς
Et irritaverunt me domus Israël in deserto : in praeceptis meis non ambulaverunt , et judicia mea projecerunt , quae faciens homo vivet in eis , et sabbata mea violaverunt vehementer . Dixi ergo ut effunderem furorem meum super eos in deserto , et consumerem eos :
ወእቤሎሙ ፡ ለቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ በገዳም ፡ በትእዛዝየ ፡ ሑሩ ። ወኢሖሩ ፡ ወዐለዉ ፡ ሕግየ ፡ ዘአመ ፡ ገብሮ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ የሐዩ ፡ ቦቱ ፡ ወአርኰሱ ፡ ሰንበታትየ ፡ ፈድፋደ ፡ ወእቤ ፡ እክዑ ፡ መዐትየ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ በገዳም ፡ ወአጠፍኦሙ ።
“‘“But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They didn’t walk in my statutes and they rejected my ordinances, which if a man keeps, he shall live in them. They greatly profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them in the wilderness, to consume them.
20:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֶעֱשֶׂ֖ה לְמַ֣עַן שְׁמִ֑י לְבִלְתִּ֤י הֵחֵל֙ לְעֵינֵ֣י הַגּוֹיִ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר הוֹצֵאתִ֖ים לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם ׃
καὶ ἐποίησα ὅπως τὸ ὄνομά μου τὸ παράπαν μὴ βεβηλωθῇ ἐνώπιον τῶν ἐθνῶν ὧν ἐξήγαγον αὐτοὺς κατ’ ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῶν

20:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְגַם ־אֲנִ֗י נָשָׂ֧אתִי יָדִ֛י לָהֶ֖ם בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר לְבִלְתִּי֩ הָבִ֨יא אוֹתָ֜ם אֶל ־הָאָ֣רֶץ אֲשֶׁר ־נָתַ֗תִּי זָבַ֤ת חָלָב֙ וּדְבַ֔שׁ צְבִ֥י הִ֖יא לְכׇל ־הָאֲרָצֽוֹת ׃
καὶ ἐγὼ ἐξῆρα τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τὸ παράπαν τοῦ μὴ εἰσαγαγεῖν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν ἔδωκα αὐτοῖς γῆν ῥέουσαν γάλα καὶ μέλι κηρίον ἐστὶν παρὰ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν
Ego igitur levavi manum meam super eos in deserto , ne inducerem eos in terram quam dedi eis , fluentem lacte et melle , praecipuam terrarum omnium :
ወአነ ፡ አንሣእኩ ፡ እዴየ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ በገዳም ፡ ለዝሉፉ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢያብኦሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ ወሀብክዎሙ ፡ ምድረ ፡ እንተ ፡ ታውኅዝ ፡ ሐሊበ ፡ ወመዐረ ፡ እንተ ፡ ትጥዕም ፡ እምኵሉ ፡ ምድር ።
Moreover also I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands,
20:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ יַ֜עַן בְּמִשְׁפָּטַ֣י מָאָ֗סוּ וְאֶת ־חֻקּוֹתַי֙ לֹא ־הָלְכ֣וּ בָהֶ֔ם וְאֶת ־שַׁבְּתוֹתַ֖י חִלֵּ֑לוּ כִּ֛י אַחֲרֵ֥י גִלּוּלֵיהֶ֖ם לִבָּ֥ם הֹלֵֽךְ ׃
ἀνθ’ ὧν τὰ δικαιώματά μου ἀπώσαντο καὶ ἐν τοῖς προστάγμασίν μου οὐκ ἐπορεύθησαν ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ τὰ σάββατά μου ἐβεβήλουν καὶ ὀπίσω τῶν ἐνθυμημάτων τῶν καρδιῶν αὐτῶν ἐπορεύοντο
quia judicia mea projecerunt , et in praeceptis meis non ambulaverunt , et sabbata mea violaverunt : post idola enim cor eorum gradiebatur .
ሶበ ፡ ዐለዉ ፡ ሕግየ ፡ ወኢሖሩ ፡ በትእዛዝየ ፡ ወአርኰሱ ፡ ሰንበታትየ ፡ ወሖሩ ፡ በሕሊና ፡ ልቦሙ ።
because they rejected my ordinances, and didn’t walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths; for their heart went after their idols.
20:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַתָּ֧חׇס עֵינִ֛י עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם מִֽשַּׁחֲתָ֑ם וְלֹא ־עָשִׂ֧יתִי אוֹתָ֛ם כָּלָ֖ה בַּמִּדְבָּֽר ׃
καὶ ἐφείσατο ὁ ὀφθαλμός μου ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς τοῦ ἐξαλεῖψαι αὐτοὺς καὶ οὐκ ἐποίησα αὐτοὺς εἰς συντέλειαν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ
Et pepercit oculus meus super eos , ut non interficerem eos : nec consumpsi eos in deserto .
ወመሐከቶሙ ፡ ዐይንየ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይደምስሶሙ ፡ ወኢገበርኩ ፡ በዘአኅልቆሙ ፡ በገዳም ።
Nevertheless my eye spared them, and I didn’t destroy them. I didn’t make a full end of them in the wilderness.
20:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֹמַ֤ר אֶל ־בְּנֵיהֶם֙ בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר בְּחוּקֵּ֤י אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙ אַל ־תֵּלֵ֔כוּ וְאֶת ־מִשְׁפְּטֵיהֶ֖ם אַל ־תִּשְׁמֹ֑רוּ וּבְגִלּוּלֵיהֶ֖ם אַל ־תִּטַּמָּֽאוּ ׃
καὶ εἶπα πρὸς τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἐν τοῖς νομίμοις τῶν πατέρων ὑμῶν μὴ πορεύεσθε καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα αὐτῶν μὴ φυλάσσεσθε καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἐπιτηδεύμασιν αὐτῶν μὴ συναναμίσγεσθε καὶ μὴ μιαίνεσθε
Dixi autem ad filios eorum in solitudine : In praeceptis patrum vestrorum nolite incedere , nec judicia eorum custodiatis , nec in idolis eorum polluamini .
ወእቤሎሙ ፡ ለደቂቆሙ ፡ በገዳም ፡ ኢትሑሩ ፡ በግዕዘ ፡ አበዊክሙ ፡ ወኢትዕቀቡ ፡ ሥርዓቶሙ ፣፡ ወኢትደመሩ ፡ በጌጋዮሙ ፡ ወኢትርኰሱ ።
I said to their children in the wilderness, ‘Don’t walk in the statutes of your fathers. Don’t observe their ordinances or defile yourselves with their idols.
20:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ אֲנִי֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֔ם בְּחֻקּוֹתַ֖י לֵ֑כוּ וְאֶת ־מִשְׁפָּטַ֥י שִׁמְר֖וּ וַעֲשׂ֥וּ אוֹתָֽם ׃
ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν ἐν τοῖς προστάγμασίν μου πορεύεσθε καὶ τὰ δικαιώματά μου φυλάσσεσθε καὶ ποιεῖτε αὐτὰ
Ego Dominus Deus vester : in praeceptis meis ambulate : judicia mea custodite , et facite ea ,
አነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክክሙ ፡ በትእዛዝየ ፡ ሑሩ ፡ ወሕገ ፡ ዚአየ ፡ ዕቀቡ ፡ ወግበርዎ ።
I am Yahweh your God. Walk in my statutes, keep my ordinances, and do them.
20:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאֶת ־שַׁבְּתוֹתַ֖י קַדֵּ֑שׁוּ וְהָי֤וּ לְאוֹת֙ בֵּינִ֣י וּבֵינֵיכֶ֔ם לָדַ֕עַת כִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם ׃
καὶ τὰ σάββατά μου ἁγιάζετε καὶ ἔστω εἰς σημεῖον ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ὑμῶν τοῦ γινώσκειν διότι ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν
et sabbata mea sanctificate , ut sint signum inter me et vos , et sciatis quia ego sum Dominus Deus vester .
ወቀድሱ ፡ ሰንበታትየ ፡ ወይኩን ፡ ትእምርተ ፡ ማእከሌየ ፡ ወማእከሌክሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ታእምሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ አነ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክክሙ ።
Make my Sabbaths holy. They shall be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am Yahweh your God.’
20:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּמְרוּ ־בִ֣י הַבָּנִ֗ים בְּחֻקּוֹתַ֣י לֹֽא ־הָ֠לָ֠כוּ וְאֶת ־מִשְׁפָּטַ֨י לֹֽא ־שָׁמְר֜וּ לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת אוֹתָ֗ם אֲשֶׁר֩ יַעֲשֶׂ֨ה אוֹתָ֤ם הָאָדָם֙ וָחַ֣י בָּהֶ֔ם אֶת ־שַׁבְּתוֹתַ֖י חִלֵּ֑לוּ וָאֹמַ֞ר לִשְׁפֹּ֧ךְ חֲמָתִ֣י עֲלֵיהֶ֗ם לְכַלּ֥וֹת אַפִּ֛י בָּ֖ם בַּמִּדְבָּֽר ׃
καὶ παρεπίκρανάν με καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν ἐν τοῖς προστάγμασίν μου οὐκ ἐπορεύθησαν καὶ τὰ δικαιώματά μου οὐκ ἐφυλάξαντο τοῦ ποιεῖν αὐτά ἃ ποιήσει ἄνθρωπος καὶ ζήσεται ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ τὰ σάββατά μου ἐβεβήλουν καὶ εἶπα τοῦ ἐκχέαι τὸν θυμόν μου ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τοῦ συντελέσαι τὴν ὀργήν μου ἐπ’ αὐτούς
Et exacerbaverunt me filii : in praeceptis meis non ambulaverunt , et judicia mea non custodierunt ut facerent ea , quae cum fecerit homo , vivet in eis , et sabbata mea violaverunt . Et comminatus sum ut effunderem furorem meum super eos , et implerem iram meam in eis in deserto .
ወአምረሩኒ ፡ ደቂቆሙ ፡ ወኢሖሩ ፡ በትእዛዝየ ፡ ወዐለዉኒ ፡ ወኢዐቀቡ ፡ ሕግየ ፡ ወኢገብርዎ ፡ ዘአመ ፡ ገብሮ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ የሐዩ ፡ ቦቱ ፣፡ ወአርኰሱ ፡ ሰንታትየ ፡ ወእቤ ፡ እክዑ ፡ መዐትየ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ ወእሠልጥ ፡ መቅሠፍትየ ፡ በገዳም ፡ ዲቤሆሙ ።
“‘“But the children rebelled against me. They didn’t walk in my statutes, and didn’t keep my ordinances to do them, which if a man does, he shall live in them. They profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.
20:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַהֲשִׁבֹ֙תִי֙ אֶת ־יָדִ֔י וָאַ֖עַשׂ לְמַ֣עַן שְׁמִ֑י לְבִלְתִּ֤י הֵחֵל֙ לְעֵינֵ֣י הַגּוֹיִ֔ם אֲשֶׁר ־הוֹצֵ֥אתִי אוֹתָ֖ם לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם ׃
καὶ ἐποίησα ὅπως τὸ ὄνομά μου τὸ παράπαν μὴ βεβηλωθῇ ἐνώπιον τῶν ἐθνῶν ὧν ἐξήγαγον αὐτοὺς κατ’ ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῶν
Averti autem manum meam , et feci propter nomen meum , ut non violaretur coram gentibus de quibus ejeci eos in oculis earum .
ወገበርኩ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይርኰስ ፡ ስምየ ፡ ዘእምኵሉ ፡ የዐቢ ፡ በቅድመ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ ዘአውፃእክዎሙ ፡ በቅድመ ፡ አዕይንቲሆሙ ።
Nevertheless I withdrew my hand and worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.
20:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ גַּם ־אֲנִ֗י נָשָׂ֧אתִי אֶת ־יָדִ֛י לָהֶ֖ם בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר לְהָפִ֤יץ אֹתָם֙ בַּגּוֹיִ֔ם וּלְזָר֥וֹת אוֹתָ֖ם בָּאֲרָצֽוֹת ׃
καὶ ἐξῆρα τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τοῦ διασκορπίσαι αὐτοὺς ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν καὶ διασπεῖραι αὐτοὺς ἐν ταῖς χώραις
Iterum levavi manum meam in eos in solitudine , ut dispergerem illos in nationes , et ventilarem in terras ,
ወአንሣንኩ ፡ እዴየ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ በገዳም ፡ ከመ ፡ እዝርዎሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ ወእዝርዎሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ በሐውርት ።
Moreover I swore to them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them through the countries,
20:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ יַ֜עַן מִשְׁפָּטַ֤י לֹֽא ־עָשׂוּ֙ וְחֻקּוֹתַ֣י מָאָ֔סוּ וְאֶת ־שַׁבְּתוֹתַ֖י חִלֵּ֑לוּ וְאַֽחֲרֵי֙ גִּלּוּלֵ֣י אֲבוֹתָ֔ם הָי֖וּ עֵינֵיהֶֽם ׃
ἀνθ’ ὧν τὰ δικαιώματά μου οὐκ ἐποίησαν καὶ τὰ προστάγματά μου ἀπώσαντο καὶ τὰ σάββατά μου ἐβεβήλουν καὶ ὀπίσω τῶν ἐνθυμημάτων τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν ἦσαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτῶν
eo quod judicia mea non fecissent , et praecepta mea reprobassent , et sabbata mea violassent , et post idola patrum suorum fuissent oculi eorum .
እስመ ፡ ኢገብሩ ፡ ሕግየ ፡ ወኀዸጉ ፡ ትእዛዝየ ፡ ወአርኰሱ ፡ ሰንበታትየ ፣፡ ወአትለዉ ፡ ዐይኖሙ ፡ ድኅረ ፡ ሕሊና ፡ አበዊሆሙ ።
because they had not executed my ordinances, but had rejected my statutes, and had profaned my Sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers’ idols.
20:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְגַם ־אֲנִי֙ נָתַ֣תִּי לָהֶ֔ם חֻקִּ֖ים לֹ֣א טוֹבִ֑ים וּמִ֨שְׁפָּטִ֔ים לֹ֥א יִֽחְי֖וּ בָּהֶֽם ׃
καὶ ἐγὼ ἔδωκα αὐτοῖς προστάγματα οὐ καλὰ καὶ δικαιώματα ἐν οἷς οὐ ζήσονται ἐν αὐτοῖς
Ergo et ego dedi eis praecepta non bona , et judicia in quibus non vivent .
ወአነ ፡ ወሀብክዎሙ ፡ ሕገ ፡ ዘኢኮነ ፡ ሠናየ ፡ ወኵነኔ ፡ ዘኢየሐይዉ ፡ ቦቱ ።
Moreover also I gave them statutes that were not good, and ordinances in which they couldn’t live.
20:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֲטַמֵּ֤א אוֹתָם֙ בְּמַתְּנוֹתָ֔ם בְּהַעֲבִ֖יר כׇּל ־פֶּ֣טֶר רָ֑חַם לְמַ֣עַן אֲשִׁמֵּ֔ם לְמַ֙עַן֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֵדְע֔וּ אֲשֶׁ֖ר אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָֽה ׃ {ס}
καὶ μιανῶ αὐτοὺς ἐν τοῖς δόμασιν αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ διαπορεύεσθαί με πᾶν διανοῖγον μήτραν ὅπως ἀφανίσω αὐτούς
Et pollui eos in muneribus suis , cum offerrent omne quod aperit vulvam , propter delicta sua : et scient quia ego Dominus .
ወአርኰስክዎሙ ፡ በመባኦሙ ፡ ሶበ ፡ አምጽኡ ፡ ሊተ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዘይፈትሕ ፡ ማሕፀነ ፡ ከመ ፡ አማስኖሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ያእምሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ አነ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused all that opens the womb to pass through the fire, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am Yahweh.”’
20:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ לָכֵ֞ן דַּבֵּ֨ר אֶל ־בֵּ֤ית יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בֶּן ־אָדָ֔ם וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֑ה ע֗וֹד זֹ֚את גִּדְּפ֤וּ אוֹתִי֙ אֲב֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם בְּמַעֲלָ֥ם בִּ֖י מָֽעַל ׃
διὰ τοῦτο λάλησον πρὸς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Ισραηλ υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς τάδε λέγει κύριος ἕως τούτου παρώργισάν με οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν ἐν τοῖς παραπτώμασιν αὐτῶν ἐν οἷς παρέπεσον εἰς ἐμέ
Quam ob rem loquere ad domum Israël , fili hominis , et dices ad eos : Haec dicit Dominus Deus : Adhuc et in hoc blasphemaverunt me patres vestri , cum sprevissent me contemnentes ,
በእንተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ በሎሙ ፡ ለቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወልደ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ ወበሎሙ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አዶናይ ፡ እስመ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ አምዕዑኒ ፡ አበዊክሙ ፡ በጌጋዮሙ ፡ ዘአበሱ ፡ ሊተ ።
“Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Moreover, in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.
20:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֲבִיאֵם֙ אֶל ־הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָשָׂ֙אתִי֙ אֶת ־יָדִ֔י לָתֵ֥ת אוֹתָ֖הּ לָהֶ֑ם וַיִּרְאוּ֩ כׇל ־גִּבְעָ֨ה רָמָ֜ה וְכׇל ־עֵ֣ץ עָבֹ֗ת וַיִּזְבְּחוּ ־שָׁ֤ם אֶת ־זִבְחֵיהֶם֙ וַיִּתְּנוּ ־שָׁם֙ כַּ֣עַס קׇרְבָּנָ֔ם וַיָּשִׂ֣ימוּ שָׁ֗ם רֵ֚יחַ נִיח֣וֹחֵיהֶ֔ם וַיַּסִּ֥יכוּ שָׁ֖ם אֶת ־נִסְכֵּיהֶֽם ׃
καὶ εἰσήγαγον αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν ἦρα τὴν χεῖρά μου τοῦ δοῦναι αὐτοῖς καὶ εἶδον πᾶν βουνὸν ὑψηλὸν καὶ πᾶν ξύλον κατάσκιον καὶ ἔθυσαν ἐκεῖ τοῖς θεοῖς αὐτῶν καὶ ἔταξαν ἐκεῖ ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας καὶ ἔσπεισαν ἐκεῖ σπονδὰς αὐτῶν
et induxissem eos in terram super quam levavi manum meam ut darem eis : viderunt omnem collem excelsum , et omne lignum nemorosum , et immolaverunt ibi victimas suas , et dederunt ibi irritationem oblationis suae , et posuerunt ibi odorem suavitatis suae , et libaverunt libationes suas .
ወአባእክዎሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ አንሣእኩ ፡ እዴየ ፡ ከመ ፡ አሀቦሙ ። ወርእዩ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ወግረ ፡ ነዋኀ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዕፀ ፡ ዘቦ ፡ ጽላሎት ፡ ወዘብሑ ፡ ወዘመዉ ፡ በህየ ፡ ለአማልክቲሆሙ ፡ ወሦዑ ፡ መሥዋዕተ ፡ ወዐጠኑ ፡ በህየ ፡ ለመዐዛ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ ወአውጽሑ ፡ በህየ ፡ ሞጻሕቶሙ ።
For when I had brought them into the land which I swore to give to them, then they saw every high hill and every thick tree, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering. There they also made their pleasant aroma, and there they poured out their drink offerings.
20:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֹמַ֣ר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם מָ֣ה הַבָּמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר ־אַתֶּ֥ם הַבָּאִ֖ים שָׁ֑ם וַיִּקָּרֵ֤א שְׁמָהּ֙ בָּמָ֔ה עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה ׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπον πρὸς αὐτούς τί ἐστιν Αβαμα ὅτι ὑμεῖς εἰσπορεύεσθε ἐκεῖ καὶ ἐπεκάλεσαν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Αβαμα ἕως τῆς σήμερον ἡμέρας
Et dixi ad eos : Quid est excelsum , ad quod vos ingredimini ? et vocatum est nomen ejus Excelsum usque ad hanc diem .
ወእቤሎሙ ፡ ምንት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ባማ ፡ ዘተሐውሩ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ህየ ፡ ወሰመይዎ ፡ ስሞ ፡ ባማ ፡ እስከ ፡ ዮም ፡ ወእስከ ፡ ዛቲ ፡ ዕለት ።
Then I said to them, ‘What does the high place where you go mean?’ So its name is called Bamah to this day.”’
20:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ לָכֵ֞ן אֱמֹ֣ר ׀ אֶל ־בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה הַבְּדֶ֥רֶךְ אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם אַתֶּ֣ם נִטְמְאִ֑ים וְאַחֲרֵ֥י שִׁקּֽוּצֵיהֶ֖ם אַתֶּ֥ם זֹנִֽים ׃
διὰ τοῦτο εἰπὸν πρὸς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Ισραηλ τάδε λέγει κύριος εἰ ἐν ταῖς ἀνομίαις τῶν πατέρων ὑμῶν ὑμεῖς μιαίνεσθε καὶ ὀπίσω τῶν βδελυγμάτων αὐτῶν ὑμεῖς ἐκπορνεύετε
Propterea dic ad domum Israël : Haec dicit Dominus Deus : Certe in via patrum vestrorum vos polluimini , et post offendicula eorum vos fornicamini :
በእንተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ በሎሙ ፡ ለቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ አዶናይ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በኃጢአተ ፡ አበዊክሙ ፡ ረኰስክሙ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ወዘመውክሙ ፡ ወተሎክሙ ፡ ርኵሶሙ ።
“Therefore tell the house of Israel, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Do you pollute yourselves in the way of your fathers? Do you play the prostitute after their abominations?
20:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּבִשְׂאֵ֣ת מַתְּנֹתֵיכֶ֡ם בְּֽהַעֲבִיר֩ בְּנֵיכֶ֨ם בָּאֵ֜שׁ אַתֶּם֩ נִטְמְאִ֤֨ים לְכׇל ־גִּלּֽוּלֵיכֶם֙ עַד ־הַיּ֔וֹם {ס} וַאֲנִ֛י אִדָּרֵ֥שׁ לָכֶ֖ם בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל חַי ־אָ֗נִי נְאֻם֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה אִם ־אִדָּרֵ֖שׁ לָכֶֽם ׃
καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἀπαρχαῖς τῶν δομάτων ὑμῶν ἐν τοῖς ἀφορισμοῖς ὑμεῖς μιαίνεσθε ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐνθυμήμασιν ὑμῶν ἕως τῆς σήμερον ἡμέρας καὶ ἐγὼ ἀποκριθῶ ὑμῖν οἶκος τοῦ Ισραηλ ζῶ ἐγώ λέγει κύριος εἰ ἀποκριθήσομαι ὑμῖν καὶ εἰ ἀναβήσεται ἐπὶ τὸ πνεῦμα ὑμῶν τοῦτο
et in oblatione donorum vestrorum , cum traducitis filios vestros per ignem , vos polluimini in omnibus idolis vestris usque hodie : et ego respondebo vobis , domus Israël ? Vivo ego , dicit Dominus Deus , quia non respondebo vobis .
በአብኦ ፡ ደቂቅክሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እሳት ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ረኰስክሙ ፡ በኵሉ ፡ ሕሊናክሙ ፡ እስከ ፡ ዮም ፡ ወእስከ ፡ ዛቲ ፡ ዕለት ። ወአነሁ ፡ አወሥአክሙ ፡ ቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ሕያው ፡ አነ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢያወሥአክሙ ፡ ወትሔልይዎ ፡ በመንፈስክሙ ፡ ለዝንቱ ።
When you offer your gifts, when you make your sons pass through the fire, do you pollute yourselves with all your idols to this day? Should I be inquired of by you, house of Israel? As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I will not be inquired of by you!
20:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהָֽעֹלָה֙ עַל ־ר֣וּחֲכֶ֔ם הָי֖וֹ לֹ֣א תִֽהְיֶ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀ אַתֶּ֣ם אֹמְרִ֗ים נִֽהְיֶ֤ה כַגּוֹיִם֙ כְּמִשְׁפְּח֣וֹת הָאֲרָצ֔וֹת לְשָׁרֵ֖ת עֵ֥ץ וָאָֽבֶן ׃
καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὃν τρόπον ὑμεῖς λέγετε ἐσόμεθα ὡς τὰ ἔθνη καὶ ὡς αἱ φυλαὶ τῆς γῆς τοῦ λατρεύειν ξύλοις καὶ λίθοις
Neque cogitatio mentis vestrae fiet , dicentium : Erimus sicut gentes et sicut cognationes terrae , ut colamus ligna et lapides .
ወኢትከውኑ ፡ በከመ ፡ ትብሉ ፡ ንከውን ፡ ከመ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ በሐውርት ፡ ከመ ፡ ታምልኩ ፡ ዕፀ ፡ ወእብነ ።
“‘“That which comes into your mind will not be at all, in that you say, ‘We will be as the nations, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.’
20:33 ⧉ ⤴︎ חַי ־אָ֕נִי נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֑ה אִם ־לֹ֠א בְּיָ֨ד חֲזָקָ֜ה וּבִזְר֧וֹעַ נְטוּיָ֛ה וּבְחֵמָ֥ה שְׁפוּכָ֖ה אֶמְל֥וֹךְ עֲלֵיכֶֽם ׃
διὰ τοῦτο ζῶ ἐγώ λέγει κύριος ἐν χειρὶ κραταιᾷ καὶ ἐν βραχίονι ὑψηλῷ καὶ ἐν θυμῷ κεχυμένῳ βασιλεύσω ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς
Vivo ego , dicit Dominus Deus , quoniam in manu forti , et in brachio extento , et in furore effuso , regnabo super vos .
በእንተዝ ፡ ሕያው ፡ አነ ፡ ይቤ ፡ አዶናይ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ በእድ ፡ ጽንዕት ፡ ወበመዝራዕት ፡ ልዑል ፡ ወበመዐት ፡ ክዕው ፡ እነግሥ ፡ ላዕሌክሙ ።
As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh, “surely with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out, I will be king over you.
20:34 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהוֹצֵאתִ֤י אֶתְכֶם֙ מִן ־הָ֣עַמִּ֔ים וְקִבַּצְתִּ֣י אֶתְכֶ֔ם מִן ־הָ֣אֲרָצ֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר נְפוֹצֹתֶ֖ם בָּ֑ם בְּיָ֤ד חֲזָקָה֙ וּבִזְר֣וֹעַ נְטוּיָ֔ה וּבְחֵמָ֖ה שְׁפוּכָֽה ׃
καὶ ἐξάξω ὑμᾶς ἐκ τῶν λαῶν καὶ εἰσδέξομαι ὑμᾶς ἐκ τῶν χωρῶν οὗ διεσκορπίσθητε ἐν αὐταῖς ἐν χειρὶ κραταιᾷ καὶ ἐν βραχίονι ὑψηλῷ καὶ ἐν θυμῷ κεχυμένῳ
Et educam vos de populis , et congregabo vos de terris in quibus dispersi estis : in manu valida , et in brachio extento , et in furore effuso , regnabo super vos .
ወአወፅአክሙ ፡ እምአሕዛብ ፡ ወእትሜጠወክሙ ፡ እምበሐውርት ፡ ኀበ ፡ ተዘሮክሙ ፡ ውስቴቶሙ ፡ በእድ ፡ ጽንዕት ፡ ወበመዝራዕት ፡ ልዑል ፡ ወበመዐት ፡ ክዕው ።
I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries in which you are scattered with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out.
20:35 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהֵבֵאתִ֣י אֶתְכֶ֔ם אֶל ־מִדְבַּ֖ר הָעַמִּ֑ים וְנִשְׁפַּטְתִּ֤י אִתְּכֶם֙ שָׁ֔ם פָּנִ֖ים אֶל ־פָּנִֽים ׃
καὶ ἄξω ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν ἔρημον τῶν λαῶν καὶ διακριθήσομαι πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐκεῖ πρόσωπον κατὰ πρόσωπον
Et adducam vos in desertum populorum , et judicabor vobiscum ibi facie ad faciem .
ወእወስደክሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ዘአሕዛብ ፡ ወእትዋቀሠክሙ ፡ በህየ ፡ ገጸ ፡ በገጽ ።
I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.
20:36 ⧉ ⤴︎ כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר נִשְׁפַּ֙טְתִּי֙ אֶת ־אֲב֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם בְּמִדְבַּ֖ר אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם כֵּ֚ן אִשָּׁפֵ֣ט אִתְּכֶ֔ם נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יֱהֹוִֽה ׃
ὃν τρόπον διεκρίθην πρὸς τοὺς πατέρας ὑμῶν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ γῆς Αἰγύπτου οὕτως κρινῶ ὑμᾶς λέγει κύριος
Sicut judicio contendi adversum patres vestros in deserto terrae Aegypti , sic judicabo vos , dicit Dominus Deus .
ከመ ፡ ተዋቀሥክዎሙ ፡ ለአበዊክሙ ፡ በገዳም ፡ ዘግብጽ ፣፡ ከማሁ ፡ እኴንነክሙ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እግዚእ ።
Just as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you,” says the Lord Yahweh.
20:37 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהַעֲבַרְתִּ֥י אֶתְכֶ֖ם תַּ֣חַת הַשָּׁ֑בֶט וְהֵבֵאתִ֥י אֶתְכֶ֖ם בְּמָסֹ֥רֶת הַבְּרִֽית ׃
καὶ διάξω ὑμᾶς ὑπὸ τὴν ῥάβδον μου καὶ εἰσάξω ὑμᾶς ἐν ἀριθμῷ
Et subjiciam vos sceptro meo , et inducam vos in vinculis foederis .
ወአኀልፈክሙ ፡ ታሕተ ፡ በትርየ ፡ ወእወስደክሙ ፡ በኍልቍ ።
“I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.
20:38 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּבָרוֹתִ֣י מִכֶּ֗ם הַמֹּרְדִ֤ים וְהַפּֽוֹשְׁעִים֙ בִּ֔י מֵאֶ֤רֶץ מְגֽוּרֵיהֶם֙ אוֹצִ֣יא אוֹתָ֔ם וְאֶל ־אַדְמַ֥ת יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֹ֣א יָב֑וֹא וִידַעְתֶּ֖ם כִּי ־אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָֽה ׃
καὶ ἐκλέξω ἐξ ὑμῶν τοὺς ἀσεβεῖς καὶ τοὺς ἀφεστηκότας διότι ἐκ τῆς παροικεσίας αὐτῶν ἐξάξω αὐτούς καὶ εἰς τὴν γῆν τοῦ Ισραηλ οὐκ εἰσελεύσονται καὶ ἐπιγνώσεσθε διότι ἐγὼ κύριος
Et eligam de vobis transgressores et impios , et de terra incolatus eorum educam eos , et in terram Israël non ingredientur : et scietis quia ego Dominus .
ወእሤሩ ፡ እምውስቴትክሙ ፡ ኃጥአነ ፡ ወእለ ፡ የአብዩ ፣፡ እስመ ፡ አወፅኦሙ ፡ እምኀበ ፡ ፈለሱ ፡ ወብሔረ ፡ እስራኤልኒ ፡ ኢይበውኡ ። ወየአምሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ አነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
I will purge out from among you the rebels and those who disobey me. I will bring them out of the land where they live, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.”
20:39 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַתֶּ֨ם בֵּֽית ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל כֹּה ־אָמַ֣ר ׀ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֗ה אִ֤ישׁ גִּלּוּלָיו֙ לְכ֣וּ עֲבֹ֔דוּ וְאַחַ֕ר אִם ־אֵינְכֶ֖ם שֹׁמְעִ֣ים אֵלָ֑י וְאֶת ־שֵׁ֤ם קׇדְשִׁי֙ לֹ֣א תְחַלְּלוּ ־ע֔וֹד בְּמַתְּנוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם וּבְגִלּוּלֵיכֶֽם ׃
καὶ ὑμεῖς οἶκος Ισραηλ τάδε λέγει κύριος κύριος ἕκαστος τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα αὐτοῦ ἐξάρατε καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα εἰ μὴ ὑμεῖς εἰσακούετέ μου καὶ τὸ ὄνομά μου τὸ ἅγιον οὐ βεβηλώσετε οὐκέτι ἐν τοῖς δώροις ὑμῶν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἐπιτηδεύμασιν ὑμῶν
Et vos , domus Israël , haec dicit Dominus Deus : Singuli post idola vestra ambulate , et servite eis . Quod si et in hoc non audieritis me , et nomen meum sanctum pollueritis ultra in muneribus vestris et in idolis vestris :
ወአንትሙ ፡ ቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ፣፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ አዶናይ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኵልክሙ ፡ ኅድጉ ፡ ጌጋየክሙ ፡ ወእምዝ ፡ ስምዑኒ ፡ እንከ ፡ ወኢታርኵሱ ፡ ስምየ ፡ በመባእክሙ ፡ ወበጌጋይክሙ ።
“‘As for you, house of Israel, the Lord Yahweh says: “Go, everyone serve his idols, and hereafter also, if you will not listen to me; but you shall no more profane my holy name with your gifts and with your idols.
20:40 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֣י בְהַר ־קׇדְשִׁ֞י בְּהַ֣ר ׀ מְר֣וֹם יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל נְאֻם֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה שָׁ֣ם יַעַבְדֻ֜נִי כׇּל ־בֵּ֧ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל כֻּלֹּ֖ה בָּאָ֑רֶץ שָׁ֣ם אֶרְצֵ֔ם וְשָׁ֞ם אֶדְר֣וֹשׁ אֶת ־תְּרוּמֹֽתֵיכֶ֗ם וְאֶת ־רֵאשִׁ֛ית מַשְׂאוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם בְּכׇל ־קׇדְשֵׁיכֶֽם ׃
διότι ἐπὶ τοῦ ὄρους τοῦ ἁγίου μου ἐπ’ ὄρους ὑψηλοῦ λέγει κύριος κύριος ἐκεῖ δουλεύσουσίν μοι πᾶς οἶκος Ισραηλ εἰς τέλος καὶ ἐκεῖ προσδέξομαι καὶ ἐκεῖ ἐπισκέψομαι τὰς ἀπαρχὰς ὑμῶν καὶ τὰς ἀπαρχὰς τῶν ἀφορισμῶν ὑμῶν ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἁγιάσμασιν ὑμῶν
in monte sancto meo , in monte excelso Israël , ait Dominus Deus , ibi serviet mihi omnis domus Israël : omnes , inquam , in terra in qua placebunt mihi : et ibi quaeram primitias vestras , et initium decimarum vestrarum , in omnibus sanctificationibus vestris .
እስመ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ደብረ ፡ መቅደስየ ፡ ወደብር ፡ ነዋኅ ፡ ዘእስራኤል ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እግዚእ ፡ በህየ ፡ ይትቀነዩ ፡ ሊተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ለግሙራ ። ወበህየ ፡ እትዌከፎሙ ፡ ወበህየ ፡ እሔውጽ ፡ ቀዳምያቲክሙ ፡ ወቀዳምያተ ፡ ዘትፈልጡ ፡ በኵሉ ፡ ቅድሳቲክሙ ።
For in my holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel,” says the Lord Yahweh, “there all the house of Israel, all of them, shall serve me in the land. There I will accept them, and there I will require your offerings and the first fruits of your offerings, with all your holy things.
20:41 ⧉ ⤴︎ בְּרֵ֣יחַ נִיחֹ֘חַ֮ אֶרְצֶ֣ה אֶתְכֶם֒ בְּהוֹצִיאִ֤י אֶתְכֶם֙ מִן ־הָ֣עַמִּ֔ים וְקִבַּצְתִּ֣י אֶתְכֶ֔ם מִן ־הָ֣אֲרָצ֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר נְפֹצֹתֶ֖ם בָּ֑ם וְנִקְדַּשְׁתִּ֥י בָכֶ֖ם לְעֵינֵ֥י הַגּוֹיִֽם ׃
ἐν ὀσμῇ εὐωδίας προσδέξομαι ὑμᾶς ἐν τῷ ἐξαγαγεῖν με ὑμᾶς ἐκ τῶν λαῶν καὶ εἰσδέχεσθαι ὑμᾶς ἐκ τῶν χωρῶν ἐν αἷς διεσκορπίσθητε ἐν αὐταῖς καὶ ἁγιασθήσομαι ἐν ὑμῖν κατ’ ὀφθαλμοὺς τῶν λαῶν
In odorem suavitatis suscipiam vos , cum eduxero vos de populis , et congregavero vos de terris in quas dispersi estis : et sanctificabor in vobis in oculis nationum .
በመዐዛ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ እትዌከፈክሙ ፡ አመ ፡ አውፃእኩክሙ ፡ እምአሕዛብ ፡ ወእመይጠክሙ ፡ እምበሐውርት ፡ ኀበ ፡ ተዘሮክሙ ፡ ውስቴቶሙ ፡ ወእትቄደስ ፡ ብክሙ ፡ በቅድመ ፡ አዕይንቲሆሙ ፡ ለአሕዛብ ።
I will accept you as a pleasant aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries in which you have been scattered. I will be sanctified in you in the sight of the nations.
20:42 ⧉ ⤴︎ וִֽידַעְתֶּם֙ כִּֽי ־אֲנִ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה בַּהֲבִיאִ֥י אֶתְכֶ֖ם אֶל ־אַדְמַ֣ת יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֶל ־הָאָ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָשָׂ֙אתִי֙ אֶת ־יָדִ֔י לָתֵ֥ת אוֹתָ֖הּ לַאֲבוֹתֵיכֶֽם ׃
καὶ ἐπιγνώσεσθε διότι ἐγὼ κύριος ἐν τῷ εἰσαγαγεῖν με ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν γῆν τοῦ Ισραηλ εἰς τὴν γῆν εἰς ἣν ἦρα τὴν χεῖρά μου τοῦ δοῦναι αὐτὴν τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν
Et scietis quia ego Dominus , cum induxero vos ad terram Israël , in terram pro qua levavi manum meam ut darem eam patribus vestris .
ወተአምሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ አነ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አመ ፡ አባእኩክሙ ፡ ምድረ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ አንሣእኩ ፡ እዴየ ፡ ከመ ፡ አሀባ ፡ ለአበዊክሙ ።
You will know that I am Yahweh when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the country which I swore to give to your fathers.
20:43 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּזְכַרְתֶּם ־שָׁ֗ם אֶת ־דַּרְכֵיכֶם֙ וְאֵת֙ כׇּל ־עֲלִיל֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִטְמֵאתֶ֖ם בָּ֑ם וּנְקֹֽטֹתֶם֙ בִּפְנֵיכֶ֔ם בְּכׇל ־רָעוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר עֲשִׂיתֶֽם ׃
καὶ μνησθήσεσθε ἐκεῖ τὰς ὁδοὺς ὑμῶν καὶ τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα ὑμῶν ἐν οἷς ἐμιαίνεσθε ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ κόψεσθε τὰ πρόσωπα ὑμῶν ἐν πᾶσαις ταῖς κακίαις ὑμῶν
Et recordabimini ibi viarum vestrarum , et omnium scelerum vestrorum , quibus polluti estis in eis : et displicebitis vobis in conspectu vestro , in omnibus malitiis vestris quas fecistis .
ወትዜከሩ ፡ በህየ ፡ ፍናዊክሙ ፡ ወጌጋየክሙ ፡ በዘረኰስክሙ ፣፡ ወትሬእዩ ፡ በገጽክሙ ፡ ወትትኀፈሩ ፡ በኵሉ ፡ እከይክሙ ።
There you will remember your ways, and all your deeds in which you have polluted yourselves. Then you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that you have committed.
20:44 ⧉ ⤴︎ וִֽידַעְתֶּם֙ כִּֽי ־אֲנִ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה בַּעֲשׂוֹתִ֥י אִתְּכֶ֖ם לְמַ֣עַן שְׁמִ֑י לֹא֩ כְדַרְכֵיכֶ֨ם הָרָעִ֜ים וְכַעֲלִילוֹתֵיכֶ֤ם הַנִּשְׁחָתוֹת֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יֱהֹוִֽה ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐπιγνώσεσθε διότι ἐγὼ κύριος ἐν τῷ ποιῆσαί με οὕτως ὑμῖν ὅπως τὸ ὄνομά μου μὴ βεβηλωθῇ κατὰ τὰς ὁδοὺς ὑμῶν τὰς κακὰς καὶ κατὰ τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα ὑμῶν τὰ διεφθαρμένα λέγει κύριος
Et scietis quia ego Dominus , cum benefecero vobis propter nomen meum , et non secundum vias vestras malas , neque secundum scelera vestra pessima , domus Israël , ait Dominus Deus .
ወተአምሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ አነ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሶበ ፡ ገበርኩ ፡ ላዕሌክሙ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይርኰስ ፡ ስምየ ፡ በከመ ፡ ፍኖትክሙ ፡ እኩይ ፡ ወበከመ ፡ ምግባሪክሙ ፡ ሕሡም ፡ ቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ይቤ ፡ አዶይ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
You will know that I am Yahweh, when I have dealt with you for my name’s sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, you house of Israel,” says the Lord Yahweh.’”
20:45 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — Et factus est sermo Domini ad me , dicens :
ወነበበኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወይቤለኒ ።
Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,
20:46 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — Fili hominis , pone faciem tuam contra viam austri , et stilla ad africum , et propheta ad saltum agri meridiani .
ወልደ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ አጽንዕ ፡ ገጸከ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ቴማን ፡ ወነጽር ፡ መንገለ ፡ ዳሮም ፡ ወተነበይ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ዖመ ፡ በድወ ፡ ናጌብ ።
“Son of man, set your face toward the south, and preach toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the south.
20:47 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — Et dices saltui meridiano : Audi verbum Domini : Haec dicit Dominus Deus : Ecce ego succendam in te ignem , et comburam in te omne lignum viride , et omne lignum aridum : non extinguetur flamma succensionis : et comburetur in ea omnis facies ab austro usque ad aquilonem ,
ወበሎ ፡ ለዖመ ፡ ናጌብ ፡ ስማዕ ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ። ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ አዶናይ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ናሁ ፡ አነ ፡ አነድድ ፡ እሳተ ፡ ውስቴትከ ፡ ወትበልዕ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዕፀ ፡ ወሐመልሚለ ፡ በውስቴትከ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዕፀ ፡ ይቡሰ ፡ ወኢይጠፍእ ፡ ነበልባሉ ፡ ዘነደ ፡ ወይውዒ ፡ በውስቴታ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ገጽ ፡ ዘእምደቡብ ፡ እስከ ፡ ሰሜን ።
Tell the forest of the south, ‘Hear Yahweh’s word: The Lord Yahweh says, “Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it will devour every green tree in you, and every dry tree. The burning flame will not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north will be burned by it.
20:48 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — et videbit universa caro quia ego Dominus succendi eam , nec extinguetur .
ወየአምር ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዘነፍስ ፡ ከመ ፡ አነ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፣፡ አንደድክዎ ፡ ወኢይጠፍእ ።
All flesh will see that I, Yahweh, have kindled it. It will not be quenched.”’”
20:49 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — Et dixi : A , a , a , Domine Deus : ipsi dicunt de me : Numquid non per parabolas loquitur iste ?
ወእቤ ፡ ሐሰ ፡ ለከ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ እግዚኦ ፣፡ እሙንቱሰ ፡ ይብሉኒ ፡ አኮኑ ፡ ምሳሌ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ዘይብሉ ።
Then I said, “Ah Lord Yahweh! They say of me, ‘Isn’t he a speaker of parables?’”
