7:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Οὗτος γὰρ ὁ Μελχισέδεκ , βασιλεὺς Σαλήμ , ἱερεὺς τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ὑψίστου , ὁ συναντήσας Ἀβραὰμ ὑποστρέφοντι ἀπὸ τῆς κοπῆς τῶν βασιλέων καὶ εὐλογήσας αὐτόν ,
Hic enim Melchisedech , rex Salem , sacerdos Dei summi , qui obviavit Abrahae regresso a caede regum , et benedixit ei :
ወመልከ ጼዴቅሰ ንጉሠ ሳሌም ካህኑ ለእግዚአብሔር ልዑል ውእቱ ዘመጽአ ወተራከቦ ለአብርሃም አመ ተመይጠ እምኀበ ተቃተሎሙ ለነገሥት ወባረኮሂ ።
For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,
7:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ ᾧ καὶ δεκάτην ἀπὸ πάντων ἐμέρισεν Ἀβραάμ , πρῶτον μὲν ἑρμηνευόμενος βασιλεὺς δικαιοσύνης ἔπειτα δὲ καὶ βασιλεὺς Σαλήμ , ὅ ἐστιν βασιλεὺς εἰρήνης ,
cui et decimas omnium divisit Abraham : primum quidem qui interpretatur rex justitiae : deinde autem et rex Salem , quod est , rex pacis ,
ወከፈሎ አብርሃም ዐሥራተ እምኵሉ ቀዳሚ ትርጓሜ ስሙ ንጉሠ ጽድቅ ወእምዝ ንጉሠ ሳሌም ንጉሠ ሰላም ብሂል ።
to whom also Abraham divided a tenth part of all (being first, by interpretation, “king of righteousness”, and then also “king of Salem”, which means “king of peace”,
7:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπάτωρ , ἀμήτωρ , ἀγενεαλόγητος , μήτε ἀρχὴν ἡμερῶν μήτε ζωῆς τέλος ἔχων , ἀφωμοιωμένος δὲ τῷ υἱῷ τοῦ θεοῦ , μένει ἱερεὺς εἰς τὸ διηνεκές .
sine patre , sine matre , sine genealogia , neque initium dierum , neque finem vitae habens , assimilatus autem Filio Dei , manet sacerdos in perpetuum .
አልቦ ዘዘከረ ሎቱ አበ ወኢእመ ወአልቦ ጥንት ለመዋዕሊሁ ወኢማኅለቅት ለሕይወቱ በአምሳሊሁ ለወልደ እግዚአብሔር ይነብር ክህነቱ ለዝሉፉ ።
without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God), remains a priest continually.
7:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ Θεωρεῖτε δὲ πηλίκος οὗτος ᾧ καὶ δεκάτην Ἀβραὰμ ἔδωκεν ἐκ τῶν ἀκροθινίων ὁ πατριάρχης .
Intuemini autem quantus sit hic , cui et decimas dedit de praecipuis Abraham patriarcha .
ትሬእዩኑ ዕበዮ ለዝንቱ ዘወሀቦ አብርሃም ዐሥራተ እምኵሉ ዘይኄይስ ወርእሶሙ ለአበው ውእቱ ።
Now consider how great this man was, to whom even Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth out of the best plunder.
7:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ οἱ μὲν ἐκ τῶν υἱῶν Λευεὶ τὴν ἱερατείαν λαμβάνοντες ἐντολὴν ἔχουσιν ἀποδεκατοῦν τὸν λαὸν κατὰ τὸν νόμον , τοῦτ’ ἔστιν τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτῶν , καίπερ ἐξεληλυθότας ἐκ τῆς ὀσφύος Ἀβραάμ ·
Et quidem de filiis Levi sacerdotium accipientes , mandatum habent decimas sumere a populo secundum legem , id est , a fratribus suis : quamquam et ipsi exierint de lumbis Abrahae .
ወደቂቀ ሌዊሰ ሶበ ይነሥኡ ክህነተ ቦሙ ሥርዐተ ትእዛዝ እምኦሪት ከመ ይንሥኡ ዐሥራተ እምሕዝብ በከመ ሥርዐተ ሕጎሙ እምላዕለ አኀዊሆሙ እለ ወፅኡ እምሐቌሁ ለአብርሃም ።
They indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest’s office have a commandment to take tithes from the people according to the law, that is, of their brothers, though these have come out of the body of Abraham,
7:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ μὴ γενεαλογούμενος ἐξ αὐτῶν δεδεκάτωκεν Ἀβραάμ , καὶ τὸν ἔχοντα τὰς ἐπαγγελίας εὐλόγηκεν .
Cujus autem generatio non annumeratur in eis , decimas sumpsit ab Abraham , et hunc , qui habebat repromissiones , benedixit .
ወለዘኢኮነሰ እምዘመዶሙ ወሀቦ አብርሃም ዐሥራተ ወባረኮ ለአብርሃም ዘሎቱ ተስፋ ።
but he whose genealogy is not counted from them has accepted tithes from Abraham, and has blessed him who has the promises.
7:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ χωρὶς δὲ πάσης ἀντιλογίας τὸ ἔλαττον ὑπὸ τοῦ κρείττονος εὐλογεῖται .
Sine ulla autem contradictione , quod minus est , a meliore benedicitur .
ወይትዐወቅ ባሕቱ ዘእንበለ ካሕድ ከመ ዘየዐቢ ይባርኮ ለዘይንእስ ።
But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater.
7:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὧδε μὲν δεκάτας ἀποθνῄσκοντες ἄνθρωποι λαμβάνουσιν , ἐκεῖ δὲ μαρτυρούμενος ὅτι ζῇ .
Et hic quidem , decimas morientes homines accipiunt : ibi autem contestatur , quia vivit .
ወበዝየሰ ሰብእ መዋቲ ይነሥእ ዐሥራተ ወበከሃሰ ለሊሁ ይነሥእ ዘሰማዕቱ መጽሐፍ ከመ ሕያው ውእቱ ።
Here people who die receive tithes, but there one receives tithes of whom it is testified that he lives.
7:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὡς ἔπος εἰπεῖν , διὰ Ἀβραὰμ καὶ Λευεὶς ὁ δεκάτας λαμβάνων δεδεκάτωται ·
Et (ut ita dictum sit ) per Abraham , et Levi , qui decimas accepit , decimatus est :
ወተብህለ በእንተ አብርሃም ከመ ወሀቦ ዐሥራተ ወሌዊሰ ዘይነሥእ ዐሥራተ ውእቱኒ ዐሠረ ።
We can say that through Abraham even Levi, who receives tithes, has paid tithes,
7:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἔτι γὰρ ἐν τῇ ὀσφύϊ τοῦ πατρὸς ἦν ὅτε συνήντησεν αὐτῷ ὁ Μελχισεδέκ .
adhuc enim in lumbis patris erat , quando obviavit ei Melchisedech .
እስመ ዓዲሁ ሀሎ ውስተ ሐቌ አብርሃም አቡሁ አመ ተራከቦ መልከ ጼዴቅ ።
for he was yet in the body of his father when Melchizedek met him.
7:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ Εἰ μὲν οὖν τελείωσις διὰ τῆς Λευειτικῆς ἱερωσύνης ἦν , ὁ λαὸς γὰρ ἐπ’ αὐτῆς νενομοθέτηται , τίς ἔτι χρεία κατὰ τὴν τάξιν Μελχισεδὲκ ἕτερον ἀνίστασθαι ἱερέα καὶ οὐ κατὰ τὴν τάξιν Ἀαρὼν λέγεσθαι ;
Si ergo consummatio per sacerdotium Leviticum erat (populus enim sub ipso legem accepit ) quid adhuc necessarium fuit secundum ordinem Melchisedech , alium surgere sacerdotem , et non secundum ordinem Aaron dici ?
ወእመሰ ይትፌጸም በክህነቶሙ ለሌዋውያን ዘይገብሩ ለሕዝብ በከመ ተሠርዐ ለምንት እንከ ይትፈቀድ ይሠየም ካልእ ካህን ዘከመ መልከ ጼዴቅ ሢመቱ ዳእሙ ዘእምይቤ ከመ ሢመተ አሮን ።
Now if perfection was through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people have received the law), what further need was there for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
7:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ μετατιθεμένης γὰρ τῆς ἱερωσύνης ἐξ ἀνάγκης καὶ νόμου μετάθεσις γίνεται .
Translato enim sacerdotio , necesse est ut et legis translatio fiat .
እስመ ሀለዋ ትፍልስ ክህነቶሙ ወእምከመሰ ፈለሰት ክህነቶሙ ትፈልስ ኦሪቶሙ ።
For the priesthood being changed, there is of necessity a change made also in the law.
7:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐφ’ ὃν γὰρ λέγεται ταῦτα φυλῆς ἑτέρας μετέσχηκεν , ἀφ’ ἧς οὐδεὶς προσέσχηκεν τῷ θυσιαστηρίῳ ·
In quo enim haec dicuntur , de alia tribu est , de qua nullus altari praesto fuit .
ወዘተብህለሰ በእንቲኣሁ ከመዝ ተወልደ እምካልእ ሕዝብ ዘኢዐቀበ ምሥዋዐ ግሙራ አሐዱሂ እምኔሁ ።
For he of whom these things are said belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar.
7:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ πρόδηλον γὰρ ὅτι ἐξ Ἰούδα ἀνατέταλκεν ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν , εἰς ἣν φυλὴν περὶ ἱερέων οὐδὲν Μωϋσῆς ἐλάλησεν .
Manifestum est enim quod ex Juda ortus sit Dominus noster : in qua tribu nihil de sacerdotibus Moyses locutus est .
ወይትዐወቅ ዝንቱ ክሡተ ከመ እምይሁዳ ወፅአ እግዚእነ ሕዝብ ዘኢነገረ በእንቲኣሁ ሙሴ ሢመተ ክህነት ።
For it is evident that our Lord has sprung out of Judah, about which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.
7:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ περισσότερον ἔτι κατάδηλόν ἐστιν , εἰ κατὰ τὴν ὁμοιότητα Μελχισέδεκ ἀνίσταται ἱερεὺς ἕτερος ,
Et amplius adhuc manifestum est : si secundum similitudinem Melchisedech exsurgat alius sacerdos ,
ወዓዲ ፈድፋደ ያዔውቅ ዝንቱ እስመ ይቤ ይትነሣእ ካህን በአምሳለ ክህነቱ ለመልከ ጼዴቅ ።
This is yet more abundantly evident, if after the likeness of Melchizedek there arises another priest,
7:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὃς οὐ κατὰ νόμον ἐντολῆς σαρκίνης γέγονεν ἀλλὰ κατὰ δύναμιν ζωῆς ἀκαταλύτου ,
qui non secundum legem mandati carnalis factus est , sed secundum virtutem vitae insolubilis .
ዘኢኮነ በሕገ ሥርዐት ዘሥጋ ወደም አላ በኀይለ ሕይወት ዘኢየኀልቅ ።
who has been made, not after the law of a fleshly commandment, but after the power of an endless life;
7:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ μαρτυρεῖται γὰρ ὅτι σὺ ἱερεὺς εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα κατὰ τὴν τάξιν Μελχισέδεκ .
Contestatur enim : Quoniam tu es sacerdos in aeternum , secundum ordinem Melchisedech .
ውእቱ ሰማዕቱ ዘይቤ «አንተ ውእቱ ካህን ከመ ሢመቱ ለመልከ ጼዴቅ ።»
for it is testified, “You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.”
7:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἀθέτησις μὲν γὰρ γίνεται προαγούσης ἐντολῆς διὰ τὸ αὐτῆς ἀσθενὲς καὶ ἀνωφελές ,
Reprobatio quidem fit praecedentis mandati , propter infirmitatem ejus , et inutilitatem :
እስመ ኮነ ተዋልጦ ፥ በቀዳሚ ሕግ በእንተ ድካማ እስመ አልባቲ ባቍዕ ።
For there is an annulling of a foregoing commandment because of its weakness and uselessness
7:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὐδὲν γὰρ ἐτελείωσεν ὁ νόμος , ἐπεισαγωγὴ δὲ κρείττονος ἐλπίδος , δι’ ἧς ἐγγίζομεν τῷ θεῷ .
nihil enim ad perfectum adduxit lex : introductio vero melioris spei , per quam proximamus ad Deum .
ወኢያስለጠት ወኢምንተኒ ኦሪት ወባሕቱ ቦአ ተስፋ ህየንቴሃ ዘይኄይስ እምኔሃ ወቦቱ ንቀርቦ ለእግዚአብሔር ።
(for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.
7:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ καθ’ ὅσον οὐ χωρὶς ὁρκωμοσίας , οἱ μὲν γὰρ χωρὶς ὁρκωμοσίας εἰσὶν ἱερεῖς γεγονότες ,
Et quantum est non sine jurejurando (alii quidem sine jurejurando sacerdotes facti sunt ,
እስመ ኢኮነ ዘእንበለ መሐላ እስመ ቦ እለ ተሠይሙ ዘእንበለ መሐላ ።
Inasmuch as he was not made priest without the taking of an oath
7:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ μετὰ ὁρκωμοσίας διὰ τοῦ λέγοντος πρὸς αὐτόν , ὤμοσεν κύριος , καὶ οὐ μεταμεληθήσεται , σὺ ἱερεὺς εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ·
hic autem cum jurejurando per eum , qui dixit ad illum : Juravit Dominus , et non poenitebit eum : tu es sacerdos in aeternum ) :
ወለዘሰ በመሐላ ሤሞ ይቤሎ «መሐለ እግዚአብሔር ወኢይኔስሕ ከመ አንተ ካህኑ ለዓለም በከመ ሢመቱ ለመልከ ጼዴቅ ።»
(for they indeed have been made priests without an oath), but he with an oath by him that says of him, “The Lord swore and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.’”
7:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ κατὰ τοσοῦτο καὶ κρείττονος διαθήκης γέγονεν ἔγγυος Ἰησοῦς .
in tantum melioris testamenti sponsor factus est Jesus .
ወመጠነዝ ተሠይመ ኢየሱስ ውስተ እንተ ትኄይስ ወተዐቢ ሢመት ።
By so much, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.
7:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ οἱ μὲν πλείονές εἰσιν γεγονότες ἱερεῖς διὰ τὸ θανάτῳ κωλύεσθαι παραμένειν ·
Et alii quidem plures facti sunt sacerdotes , idcirco quod morte prohiberentur permanere :
ወለእልክቱሰ ካህናት ብዙኃን እስመ ይስዕሮሙ ሞት ወኢያበውሖሙ ይንበሩ ።
Many, indeed, have been made priests, because they are hindered from continuing by death.
7:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ διὰ τὸ μένειν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ἀπαράβατον ἔχει τὴν ἱερωσύνην ·
hic autem eo quod maneat in aeternum , sempiternum habet sacerdotium .
ወውእቱሰ ይነብር ለዓለም እስመ ኢይሰዐር ክህነቱ ።
But he, because he lives forever, has his priesthood unchangeable.
7:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅθεν καὶ σῴζειν εἰς τὸ παντελὲς δύναται τοὺς προσερχομένους δι’ αὐτοῦ τῷ θεῷ , πάντοτε ζῶν εἰς τὸ ἐντυγχάνειν ὑπὲρ αὐτῶν .
Unde et salvare in perpetuum potest accedentes per semetipsum ad Deum : semper vivens ad interpellandum pro nobis .
ወይክል አድኅኖቶሙ ለዝሉፉ ለእለ ይቀርቡ ኀበ እግዚአብሔር እንተ መንገሌሁ እስመ ለግሙራ ሕያው ውእቱ ወይተነብል ሎሙ ።
Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.
7:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τοιοῦτος γὰρ ὑμῖν καὶ ἔπρεπεν ἀρχιερεύς , ὅσιος , ἄκακος , ἀμίαντος , κεχωρισμένος ἀπὸ τῶν ἁμαρτωλῶν , καὶ ὑψηλότερος τῶν οὐρανῶν γενόμενος ,
Talis enim decebat ut nobis esset pontifex , sanctus , innocens , impollutus , segregatus a peccatoribus , et excelsior caelis factus :
ዘከመዝኬ ሊቀ ካህናት ይደልወነ ጻድቅ ወየዋህ ዘንጹሕ ወርሑቅ እምኵሉ ኀጢአት ወልዑል ውእቱ እምሰማያት ።
For such a high priest was fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
7:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὃς οὐκ ἔχει καθ’ ἡμέραν ἀνάγκην , ὥσπερ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς , πρότερον ὑπὲρ τῶν ἰδίων ἁμαρτιῶν θυσίας ἀναφέρειν , ἔπειτα τῶν τοῦ λαοῦ · τοῦτο γὰρ ἐποίησεν ἐφάπαξ ἑαυτὸν προσενέγκας .
qui non habet necessitatem quotidie , quemadmodum sacerdotes , prius pro suis delictis hostias offerre , deinde pro populi : hoc enim fecit semel , seipsum offerendo .
ወአልቦ ግብር ኵሎ አሚረ ከመ ሊቃነ ካህናት እለ ያቄርቡ መሥዋዕተ ቀዲሙ በእንተ ኀጢአቶሙ ወድኅረ በእንተ ሕዝብ ወውእቱሰ ከመዝ ገብረ በምዕር ሦዐ ርእሶ ።
who doesn’t need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices daily, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. For he did this once for all, when he offered up himself.
7:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ νόμος γὰρ ἀνθρώπους καθίστησιν ἀρχιερεῖς ἔχοντας ἀσθένειαν , ὁ λόγος δὲ τῆς ὁρκωμοσίας τῆς μετὰ τὸν νόμον υἱὸν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τετελειωμένον .
Lex enim homines constituit sacerdotes infirmitatem habentes : sermo autem jurisjurandi , qui post legem est , Filium in aeternum perfectum .
ኦሪትሰ ሰብአ ትሠይም ሊቀ ካህናት መዋቴ ወቃለ መሐላሁሰ ዘመጽአ እምድኅረ ኦሪት ሤመ ለነ ወልደ ፍጹመ ዘለዓለም ።
For the law appoints men as high priests who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints a Son forever who has been perfected.
