5:1
שִׁמְעוּ־זֹ֨את הַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים וְהַקְשִׁ֣יבוּ׀ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וּבֵ֤ית הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ הַאֲזִ֔ינוּ כִּ֥י לָכֶ֖ם הַמִּשְׁפָּ֑ט כִּי־פַח֙ הֱיִיתֶ֣ם לְמִצְפָּ֔ה וְרֶ֖שֶׁת פְּרוּשָׂ֥ה עַל־תָּבֽוֹר׃
ἀκούσατε ταῦτα οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ προσέχετε οἶκος Ισραηλ καὶ ὁ οἶκος τοῦ βασιλέως ἐνωτίζεσθε διότι πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐστιν τὸ κρίμα ὅτι παγὶς ἐγενήθητε τῇ σκοπιᾷ καὶ ὡς δίκτυον ἐκτεταμένον ἐπὶ τὸ ἰταβύριον
Audite hoc, sacerdotes, et attendite, domus Israël, et domus regis, auscultate : quia vobis judicium est, quoniam laqueus facti estis speculationi, et rete expansum super Thabor.
ስምዑ፡ ዝንተ፡ ካህናት። ወአጽምእዎ፡ ቤተ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወይስምዕዎ፡ ቤተ፡ ነጋሢ፡ እስመ፡ በእንቲኣክሙ፡ ውእቱ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ኵሉ፡ ኵነኔ፡ እስመ፡ መሥገርተ፡ ኮንክምዎ፡ ለዘያስተሐይጽ፡ ወከመ፡ መሥገርት፡ እንተ፡ ሰፍሑ፡ ያሥግሩ፡ ባቲ፡ እለ፡ ይንዕዉ፡ ነዐውት፡ ተከልዎ።
“Listen to this, you priests! Listen, house of Israel, and give ear, house of the king! For the judgment is against you; for you have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread on Tabor.
5:2
וְשַׁחֲטָ֥ה שֵׂטִ֖ים הֶעְמִ֑יקוּ וַאֲנִ֖י מוּסָ֥ר לְכֻלָּֽם׃
ὃ οἱ ἀγρεύοντες τὴν θήραν κατέπηξαν ἐγὼ δὲ παιδευτὴς ὑμῶν
Et victimas declinastis in profundum ; et ego eruditor omnium eorum.
ወአንሰ፡ ነቢይ፡ መገሥጽክሙ።
The rebels are deep in slaughter, but I discipline all of them.
5:3
אֲנִי֙ יָדַ֣עְתִּי אֶפְרַ֔יִם וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֹא־נִכְחַ֣ד מִמֶּ֑נִּי כִּ֤י עַתָּה֙ הִזְנֵ֣יתָ אֶפְרַ֔יִם נִטְמָ֖א יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
ἐγὼ ἔγνων τὸν Εφραιμ καὶ Ισραηλ οὐκ ἄπεστιν ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ διότι νῦν ἐξεπόρνευσεν Εφραιμ ἐμιάνθη Ισραηλ
Ego scio Ephraim, et Israël non est absconditus a me : quia nunc fornicatus est Ephraim ; contaminatus est Israël.
ወአነ፡ አእመርክዎ፡ ለኤፍሬም፡ ወእስራኤልኒ፡ ኢርኅቀ፡ እምኔየ፡ እስመ፡ ይእዜ፡ ዘመወ፡ ኤፍሬም፡ ወረኵሰ፡ እስራኤል።
I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from me; for now, Ephraim, you have played the prostitute. Israel is defiled.
5:4
לֹ֤א יִתְּנוּ֙ מַ֣עַלְלֵיהֶ֔ם לָשׁ֖וּב אֶל־אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם כִּ֣י ר֤וּחַ זְנוּנִים֙ בְּקִרְבָּ֔ם וְאֶת־יְהֹוָ֖ה לֹ֥א יָדָֽעוּ׃
οὐκ ἔδωκαν τὰ διαβούλια αὐτῶν τοῦ ἐπιστρέψαι πρὸς τὸν θεὸν αὐτῶν ὅτι πνεῦμα πορνείας ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐστιν τὸν δὲ κύριον οὐκ ἐπέγνωσαν
Non dabunt cogitationes suas ut revertantur ad Deum suum, quia spiritus fornicationum in medio eorum, et Dominum non cognoverunt.
ወኢሜጡ፡ ልቦሙ፡ ከመ፡ ይግብኡ፡ ኀበ፡ አምላኮሙ፡ እስመ፡ መንፈሰ፡ ዝሙት፡ ላዕሌሆሙ፡ ውእቱ፡ እሙንቱሰ፡ ኢያእመርዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር።
Their deeds won’t allow them to turn to their God, for the spirit of prostitution is within them, and they don’t know Yahweh.
5:5
וְעָנָ֥ה גְאֽוֹן־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּפָנָ֑יו וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל וְאֶפְרַ֗יִם יִכָּֽשְׁלוּ֙ בַּעֲוֺנָ֔ם כָּשַׁ֥ל גַּם־יְהוּדָ֖ה עִמָּֽם׃
καὶ ταπεινωθήσεται ἡ ὕβρις τοῦ Ισραηλ εἰς πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ καὶ Ισραηλ καὶ Εφραιμ ἀσθενήσουσιν ἐν ταῖς ἀδικίαις αὐτῶν καὶ ἀσθενήσει καὶ Ιουδας μετ’ αὐτῶν
Et respondebit arrogantia Israël in facie ejus, et Israël et Ephraim ruent in iniquitate sua : ruet etiam Judas cum eis.
ወኀሣሩ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ወጽዕለቱ፡ ቅድመ፡ ገጹ፡ ወይደክሙ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወኤፍሬም፡ በጌጋዮሙ፡ ወይደዊ፡ ይሁዳኒ፡ ምስሌሆሙ።
The pride of Israel testifies to his face. Therefore Israel and Ephraim will stumble in their iniquity. Judah also will stumble with them.
5:6
בְּצֹאנָ֣ם וּבִבְקָרָ֗ם יֵ֥לְכ֛וּ לְבַקֵּ֥שׁ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֖ה וְלֹ֣א יִמְצָ֑אוּ חָלַ֖ץ מֵהֶֽם׃
μετὰ προβάτων καὶ μόσχων πορεύσονται τοῦ ἐκζητῆσαι τὸν κύριον καὶ οὐ μὴ εὕρωσιν αὐτόν ὅτι ἐξέκλινεν ἀπ’ αὐτῶν
In gregibus suis et in armentis suis vadent ad quaerendum Dominum, et non invenient : ablatus est ab eis.
ምስለ፡ አልሕምት፡ ወአባግዕ፡ ኅቡረ፡ ወየሐውሩ፡ ይኅሥሥዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወኢይረክብዎ፡ እስመ፡ ኀደጎሙ።
They will go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Yahweh, but they won’t find him. He has withdrawn himself from them.
5:7
בַּיהֹוָ֣ה בָּגָ֔דוּ כִּי־בָנִ֥ים זָרִ֖ים יָלָ֑דוּ עַתָּ֛ה יֹאכְלֵ֥ם חֹ֖דֶשׁ אֶת־חֶלְקֵיהֶֽם׃ {ס}
ὅτι τὸν κύριον ἐγκατέλιπον ὅτι τέκνα ἀλλότρια ἐγεννήθησαν αὐτοῖς νῦν καταφάγεται αὐτοὺς ἡ ἐρυσίβη καὶ τοὺς κλήρους αὐτῶν
In Dominum praevaricati sunt, quia filios alienos genuerunt : nunc devorabit eos mensis, cum partibus suis.
እስመ፡ ዐለውዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወተናከርዎ፡ ወከመ፡ ውሉደ፡ ነኪር፡ ኮንዎ፡ ወናሁ፡ ይእዜ፡ ይበልዖ፡ አናኵዕ፡ ለርስቶሙ።
They are unfaithful to Yahweh; for they have borne illegitimate children. Now the new moon will devour them with their fields.
5:8
תִּקְע֤וּ שׁוֹפָר֙ בַּגִּבְעָ֔ה חֲצֹצְרָ֖ה בָּרָמָ֑ה הָרִ֙יעוּ֙ בֵּ֣ית אָ֔וֶן אַחֲרֶ֖יךָ בִּנְיָמִֽין׃
σαλπίσατε σάλπιγγι ἐπὶ τοὺς βουνούς ἠχήσατε ἐπὶ τῶν ὑψηλῶν κηρύξατε ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Ων ἐξέστη Βενιαμιν
Clangite buccina in Gabaa, tuba in Rama ; ululate in Bethaven, post tergum tuum, Benjamin.
ንፍኁ፡ ቀርነ፡ ውስተ፡ አድባር፡ ወአንሥኡ፡ ከበሮ፡ ውስተ፡ አውግር፡ ወወውዑ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤተ፡ አዎን።
“Blow the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah! Sound a battle cry at Beth Aven, behind you, Benjamin!
5:9
אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ לְשַׁמָּ֣ה תִֽהְיֶ֔ה בְּי֖וֹם תּוֹכֵחָ֑ה בְּשִׁבְטֵי֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הוֹדַ֖עְתִּי נֶאֱמָנָֽה׃
Εφραιμ εἰς ἀφανισμὸν ἐγένετο ἐν ἡμέραις ἐλέγχου ἐν ταῖς φυλαῖς τοῦ Ισραηλ ἔδειξα πιστά
Ephraim in desolatione erit in die correptionis ; in tribubus Israël ostendi fidem.
በኀበ፡ ኀስረ፡ ብንያም፡ ኤፍሬምኒ፡ ኮነ፡ ለሙስና፡ በመዋዕለ፡ ይዘልፍዎሙ፡ ለሕዝብየ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወበህየ፡ ርኢኩ፡ ዝሙተ፡ ኤፍሬም፡ ወርኵሶሙ፡ ለእስራኤል።
Ephraim will become a desolation in the day of rebuke. Among the tribes of Israel, I have made known that which will surely be.
5:10
הָיוּ֙ שָׂרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה כְּמַסִּיגֵ֖י גְּב֑וּל עֲלֵיהֶ֕ם אֶשְׁפּ֥וֹךְ כַּמַּ֖יִם עֶבְרָתִֽי׃
ἐγένοντο οἱ ἄρχοντες Ιουδα ὡς μετατιθέντες ὅρια ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἐκχεῶ ὡς ὕδωρ τὸ ὅρμημά μου
Facti sunt principes Juda quasi assumentes terminum ; super eos effundam quasi aquam iram meam.
ወኮኑ፡ መላእክተ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ከመ፡ ዘይትዐዶ፡ ወሰነ፡ ወእክዑ፡ መዐትየ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ፡ ከመ፡ ማይ።
The princes of Judah are like those who remove a landmark. I will pour out my wrath on them like water.
5:11
עָשׁ֥וּק אֶפְרַ֖יִם רְצ֣וּץ מִשְׁפָּ֑ט כִּ֣י הוֹאִ֔יל הָלַ֖ךְ אַחֲרֵי־צָֽו׃
κατεδυνάστευσεν Εφραιμ τὸν ἀντίδικον αὐτοῦ κατεπάτησεν κρίμα ὅτι ἤρξατο πορεύεσθαι ὀπίσω τῶν ματαίων
Calumniam patiens est Ephraim, fractus judicio, quoniam coepit abire post sordes.
ወኮነ፡ ኤፍሬም፡ ተዐጋሌ፡ ወኬዳ፡ ለፍትሕ፡ እስመ፡ አኀዙ፡ ይትልዉ፡ ፃሕወ።
Ephraim is oppressed, he is crushed in judgment, because he is intent in his pursuit of idols.
5:12
וַאֲנִ֥י כָעָ֖שׁ לְאֶפְרָ֑יִם וְכָרָקָ֖ב לְבֵ֥ית יְהוּדָֽה׃
καὶ ἐγὼ ὡς ταραχὴ τῷ Εφραιμ καὶ ὡς κέντρον τῷ οἴκῳ Ιουδα
Et ego quasi tinea Ephraim, et quasi putredo domui Juda.
ወአነ፡ እከውኖ፡ ከመ፡ ነቀዝ፡ ለኤፍሬም፡ ወከመ፡ ቊንቊኔ፡ ለቤተ፡ ይሁዳ።
Therefore I am to Ephraim like a moth, and to the house of Judah like rottenness.
5:13
וַיַּ֨רְא אֶפְרַ֜יִם אֶת־חׇלְי֗וֹ וִֽיהוּדָה֙ אֶת־מְזֹר֔וֹ וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ אֶל־אַשּׁ֔וּר וַיִּשְׁלַ֖ח אֶל־מֶ֣לֶךְ יָרֵ֑ב וְה֗וּא לֹ֤א יוּכַל֙ לִרְפֹּ֣א לָכֶ֔ם וְלֹא־יִגְהֶ֥ה מִכֶּ֖ם מָזֽוֹר׃
καὶ εἶδεν Εφραιμ τὴν νόσον αὐτοῦ καὶ Ιουδας τὴν ὀδύνην αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπορεύθη Εφραιμ πρὸς Ἀσσυρίους καὶ ἀπέστειλεν πρέσβεις πρὸς βασιλέα Ιαριμ καὶ αὐτὸς οὐκ ἠδυνάσθη ἰάσασθαι ὑμᾶς καὶ οὐ μὴ διαπαύσῃ ἐξ ὑμῶν ὀδύνη
Et vidit Ephraim languorem suum, et Juda vinculum suum ; et abiit Ephraim ad Assur, et misit ad regem ultorem : et ipse non poterit sanare vos, nec solvere poterit a vobis vinculum.
ወርእያ፡ ኤፍሬም፡ ለደዌሁ፡ ወለፃዕሩ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ርእያ። ወሖረ፡ ኤፍሬም፡ ኀበ፡ ፋርስ፡ ወፈነዉ፡ ተናብልተ፡ ኀበ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ኢያሬም። ወውእቱኒ፡ ኢክህለ፡ ፈውሶተክሙ፡ እስከ፡ ኀልቀ፡ ሕማም፡ በላዕሌክሙ።
“When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to King Jareb: but he is not able to heal you, neither will he cure you of your wound.
5:14
כִּ֣י אָנֹכִ֤י כַשַּׁ֙חַל֙ לְאֶפְרַ֔יִם וְכַכְּפִ֖יר לְבֵ֣ית יְהוּדָ֑ה אֲנִ֨י אֲנִ֤י אֶטְרֹף֙ וְאֵלֵ֔ךְ אֶשָּׂ֖א וְאֵ֥ין מַצִּֽיל׃
διότι ἐγώ εἰμι ὡς πανθὴρ τῷ Εφραιμ καὶ ὡς λέων τῷ οἴκῳ Ιουδα καὶ ἐγὼ ἁρπῶμαι καὶ πορεύσομαι καὶ λήμψομαι καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ ἐξαιρούμενος
Quoniam ego quasi leaena Ephraim, et quasi catulus leonis domui Juda. Ego, ego capiam, et vadam ; tollam, et non est qui eruat.
እስመ፡ አነ፡ እከውኖሙ፡ ከመ፡ ነምር፡ ለኤፍሬም፡ ወከመ፡ አንበሳ፡ ለቤተ፡ ይሁዳ። ወአነ፡ እመሥጦሙ፡ ወእነሥኦሙ፡ ወአልቦ፡ ዘያድኅኖሙ።
For I will be to Ephraim like a lion, and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I myself will tear in pieces and go away. I will carry off, and there will be no one to deliver.
5:15
אֵלֵ֤ךְ אָשׁ֙וּבָה֙ אֶל־מְקוֹמִ֔י עַ֥ד אֲשֶֽׁר־יֶאְשְׁמ֖וּ וּבִקְשׁ֣וּ פָנָ֑י בַּצַּ֥ר לָהֶ֖ם יְשַׁחֲרֻֽנְנִי׃
πορεύσομαι καὶ ἐπιστρέψω εἰς τὸν τόπον μου ἕως οὗ ἀφανισθῶσιν καὶ ἐπιζητήσουσιν τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἐν θλίψει αὐτῶν ὀρθριοῦσι πρός με λέγοντες
Vadens revertar ad locum meum, donec deficiatis, et quaeratis faciem meam.
ወእሰወጥ፡ ወአሐውር፡ ቤትየ፡ እስከ፡ አመ፡ ይጠፍኡ፡ ወየኀሥሡ፡ ገጽየ፡ በዕለተ፡ ምንዳቤሆሙ።
I will go and return to my place, until they acknowledge their offense, and seek my face. In their affliction they will seek me earnestly.”
