8:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ אֶל ־חִכְּךָ֣ שֹׁפָ֔ר כַּנֶּ֖שֶׁר עַל ־בֵּ֣ית יְהֹוָ֑ה יַ֚עַן עָבְר֣וּ בְרִיתִ֔י וְעַל ־תּוֹרָתִ֖י פָּשָֽׁעוּ ׃
εἰς κόλπον αὐτῶν ὡς γῆ ὡς ἀετὸς ἐπ’ οἶκον κυρίου ἀνθ’ ὧν παρέβησαν τὴν διαθήκην μου καὶ κατὰ τοῦ νόμου μου ἠσέβησαν
In gutture tuo sit tuba quasi aquila super domum Domini , pro eo quod transgressi sunt foedus meum , et legem meam praevaricati sunt .
ወከመ ፡ ንስር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እስመ ፡ ዐለዉ ፡ ኪዳንየ ፡ ወአበሱ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ሕግየ ።
“Put the trumpet to your lips! Something like an eagle is over Yahweh’s house, because they have broken my covenant and rebelled against my law.
8:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ לִ֖י יִזְעָ֑קוּ אֱלֹהַ֥י יְֽדַעֲנ֖וּךָ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
ἐμὲ κεκράξονται ὁ θεός ἐγνώκαμέν σε
Me invocabunt : Deus meus , cognovimus te Israël .
ይኬልሑ ፡ ኀቤየ ፡ ወይብሉኒ ፡ አእመርናከ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ እስመ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ አግብአ ፡ ሠናይቶ ።
They cry to me, ‘My God, we, Israel, acknowledge you!’
8:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ זָנַ֥ח יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל ט֑וֹב אוֹיֵ֖ב יִרְדְּפֽוֹ ׃
ὅτι Ισραηλ ἀπεστρέψατο ἀγαθά ἐχθρὸν κατεδίωξαν
Projecit Israël bonum : inimicus persequetur eum .
ወዴገኑ ፡ ፀሮሙ ፡ ወነግሡ ፡ ለርእሶሙ ።
Israel has cast off that which is good. The enemy will pursue him.
8:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ הֵ֤ם הִמְלִ֙יכוּ֙ וְלֹ֣א מִמֶּ֔נִּי הֵשִׂ֖ירוּ וְלֹ֣א יָדָ֑עְתִּי כַּסְפָּ֣ם וּזְהָבָ֗ם עָשׂ֤וּ לָהֶם֙ עֲצַבִּ֔ים לְמַ֖עַן יִכָּרֵֽת ׃
ἑαυτοῖς ἐβασίλευσαν καὶ οὐ δῑ ἐμοῦ ἦρξαν καὶ οὐκ ἐγνώρισάν μοι τὸ ἀργύριον αὐτῶν καὶ τὸ χρυσίον αὐτῶν ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοῖς εἴδωλα ὅπως ἐξολεθρευθῶσιν
Ipsi regnaverunt , et non ex me ; principes exstiterunt , et non cognovi : argentum suum et aurum suum fecerunt sibi idola , ut interirent .
ወአኮ ፡ በእንቲኣየ ፡ ዘወጠኑ ፡ ወኢያእመሩኒ ፡ ወገብሩ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ አማልክተ ፡ ወርቆሙ ፡ ወብሩሮሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይሠረዉ ፡ ቦሙ ።
They have set up kings, but not by me. They have made princes, and I didn’t approve. Of their silver and their gold they have made themselves idols, that they may be cut off.
8:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ זָנַח֙ עֶגְלֵ֣ךְ שֹׁמְר֔וֹן חָרָ֥ה אַפִּ֖י בָּ֑ם עַד ־מָתַ֕י לֹ֥א יוּכְל֖וּ נִקָּיֹֽן ׃
ἀπότριψαι τὸν μόσχον σου Σαμάρεια παρωξύνθη ὁ θυμός μου ἐπ’ αὐτούς ἕως τίνος οὐ μὴ δύνωνται καθαρισθῆναι
Projectus est vitulus tuus , Samaria ; iratus est furor meus in eos . Usquequo non poterunt emundari ?
ሚጢ ፡ ላሕመኪ ፡ ሰማርያ ፡ ወተሀውከት ፡ መዓትየ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ። እስከ ፡ ማእዜኑ ፡ ኢይክሉ ፡ ነጺሐ ፡ እስራኤል ።
Let Samaria throw out his calf idol! My anger burns against them! How long will it be until they are capable of purity?
8:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֤י מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל֙ וְה֔וּא חָרָ֣שׁ עָשָׂ֔הוּ וְלֹ֥א אֱלֹהִ֖ים ה֑וּא כִּֽי ־שְׁבָבִ֣ים יִֽהְיֶ֔ה עֵ֖גֶל שֹׁמְרֽוֹן ׃
ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ καὶ αὐτὸ τέκτων ἐποίησεν καὶ οὐ θεός ἐστιν διότι πλανῶν ἦν ὁ μόσχος σου Σαμάρεια
Quia ex Israël et ipse est : artifex fecit illum , et non est deus ; quoniam in aranearum telas erit vitulus Samariae .
ወውእቱኒ ፡ ጸራቢ ፡ ገብሮ ፡ ወኢኮነ ፡ አምላከ ፡ እስመ ፡ ሳኰየ ፡ ላሕምኪ ፡ ሰማርያ ።
For this is even from Israel! The workman made it, and it is no God; indeed, the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
8:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֛י ר֥וּחַ יִזְרָ֖עוּ וְסוּפָ֣תָה יִקְצֹ֑רוּ קָמָ֣ה אֵֽין ־ל֗וֹ צֶ֚מַח בְּלִ֣י יַעֲשֶׂה ־קֶּ֔מַח אוּלַ֣י יַעֲשֶׂ֔ה זָרִ֖ים יִבְלָעֻֽהוּ ׃
ὅτι ἀνεμόφθορα ἔσπειραν καὶ ἡ καταστροφὴ αὐτῶν ἐκδέξεται αὐτά δράγμα οὐκ ἔχον ἰσχὺν τοῦ ποιῆσαι ἄλευρον ἐὰν δὲ καὶ ποιήσῃ ἀλλότριοι καταφάγονται αὐτό
Quia ventum seminabunt , et turbinem metent : culmus stans non est in eo ; germen non faciet farinam : quod etsi fecerit , alieni comedent eam .
እስመ ፡ ዘርዑ ፡ ነፋሰ ፡ ወአረሩ ፡ አውሎ ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ኀይል ፡ ለከላስስቲሆሙ ፡ ወኢይወፅእ ፡ ሐሪፅ ፡ እምውስቴቱ ፡ ወእመኒ ፡ ወፅአ ፡ ፀር ፡ ይበልዖ ።
For they sow the wind, and they will reap the whirlwind. He has no standing grain. The stalk will yield no head. If it does yield, strangers will swallow it up.
8:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ נִבְלַ֖ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל עַתָּה֙ הָי֣וּ בַגּוֹיִ֔ם כִּכְלִ֖י אֵֽין ־חֵ֥פֶץ בּֽוֹ ׃
κατεπόθη Ισραηλ νῦν ἐγένετο ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ὡς σκεῦος ἄχρηστον
Devoratus est Israël ; nunc factus est in nationibus quasi vas immundum .
ተሰጥመ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ከመ ፡ ዐራት ፡ በውስተ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ እስመ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ዐርጉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ፋርስ ።
Israel is swallowed up. Now they are among the nations like a worthless thing.
8:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּי ־הֵ֙מָּה֙ עָל֣וּ אַשּׁ֔וּר פֶּ֖רֶא בּוֹדֵ֣ד ל֑וֹ אֶפְרַ֖יִם הִתְנ֥וּ אֲהָבִֽים ׃
ὅτι αὐτοὶ ἀνέβησαν εἰς Ἀσσυρίους ἀνέθαλεν καθ’ ἑαυτὸν Εφραιμ δῶρα ἠγάπησαν
Quia ipsi ascenderunt ad Assur , onager solitarius sibi ; Ephraim munera dederunt amatoribus .
ሠረጸ ፡ ኤፍሬም ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ከመ ፡ አድገ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ወአፍቀረ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ አምኃ ።
For they have gone up to Assyria, like a wild donkey wandering alone. Ephraim has hired lovers for himself.
8:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ גַּ֛ם כִּֽי ־יִתְנ֥וּ בַגּוֹיִ֖ם עַתָּ֣ה אֲקַבְּצֵ֑ם וַיָּחֵ֣לּוּ מְּעָ֔ט מִמַּשָּׂ֖א מֶ֥לֶךְ שָׂרִֽים ׃
διὰ τοῦτο παραδοθήσονται ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν νῦν εἰσδέξομαι αὐτούς καὶ κοπάσουσιν μικρὸν τοῦ χρίειν βασιλέα καὶ ἄρχοντας
Sed et cum mercede conduxerint nationes , nunc congregabo eos , et quiescent paulisper ab onere regis et principum .
በእንተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ይትሜጠውዎሙ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ ይእዜኒ ፡ እሜጥዎሙ ፡ ወይሴኵሱ ፡ ሕቀ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይቅብዑ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ወመልአከ ።
But although they sold themselves among the nations, I will now gather them; and they begin to waste away because of the oppression of the king of mighty ones.
8:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּי ־הִרְבָּ֥ה אֶפְרַ֛יִם מִזְבְּח֖וֹת לַחֲטֹ֑א הָיוּ ־ל֥וֹ מִזְבְּח֖וֹת לַחֲטֹֽא ׃
ὅτι ἐπλήθυνεν Εφραιμ θυσιαστήρια εἰς ἁμαρτίας ἐγένοντο αὐτῷ θυσιαστήρια ἠγαπημένα
Quia multiplicavit Ephraim altaria ad peccandum ; factae sunt ei arae in delictum .
እስመ ፡ አብዝኀ ፡ ኤፍሬም ፡ መሥዋዕቲሁ ፡ ለኀጢአት ፡ ወገብረ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ መሥዋዕተ ፡ ፍቅር ።
Because Ephraim has multiplied altars for sinning, they became for him altars for sinning.
8:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ (אכתוב ) [אֶ֨כְתׇּב ־]ל֔וֹ (רבו ) [רֻבֵּ֖י ] תּוֹרָתִ֑י כְּמוֹ ־זָ֖ר נֶחְשָֽׁבוּ ׃
καταγράψω αὐτῷ πλῆθος καὶ τὰ νόμιμα αὐτοῦ εἰς ἀλλότρια ἐλογίσθησαν θυσιαστήρια τὰ ἠγαπημένα
Scribam ei multiplices leges meas , quae velut alienae computatae sunt .
ወጸሐፈ ፡ ላዕሌሁ ፡ ፍቅረ ፡ እስመ ፡ ለነኪር ፡ ኮነ ፡ መሥዋዕተ ፡ ፍቁር ።
I wrote for him the many things of my law, but they were regarded as a strange thing.
8:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ זִבְחֵ֣י הַבְהָבַ֗י יִזְבְּח֤וּ בָשָׂר֙ וַיֹּאכֵ֔לוּ יְהֹוָ֖ה לֹ֣א רָצָ֑ם עַתָּ֞ה יִזְכֹּ֤ר עֲוֺנָם֙ וְיִפְקֹ֣ד חַטֹּאותָ֔ם הֵ֖מָּה מִצְרַ֥יִם יָשֽׁוּבוּ ׃
διότι ἐὰν θύσωσιν θυσίαν καὶ φάγωσιν κρέα κύριος οὐ προσδέξεται αὐτά νῦν μνησθήσεται τὰς ἀδικίας αὐτῶν καὶ ἐκδικήσει τὰς ἁμαρτίας αὐτῶν αὐτοὶ εἰς Αἴγυπτον ἀπέστρεψαν καὶ ἐν Ἀσσυρίοις ἀκάθαρτα φάγονται
Hostias offerent , immolabunt carnes et comedent , et Dominus non suscipiet eas : nunc recordabitur iniquitatis eorum , et visitabit peccata eorum : ipsi in Aegyptum convertentur .
— As for the sacrifices of my offerings, they sacrifice meat and eat it, but Yahweh doesn’t accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish their sins. They will return to Egypt.
8:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּשְׁכַּ֨ח יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל אֶת ־עֹשֵׂ֗הוּ וַיִּ֙בֶן֙ הֵיכָל֔וֹת וִיהוּדָ֕ה הִרְבָּ֖ה עָרִ֣ים בְּצֻר֑וֹת וְשִׁלַּחְתִּי ־אֵ֣שׁ בְּעָרָ֔יו וְאָכְלָ֖ה אַרְמְנֹתֶֽיהָ ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐπελάθετο Ισραηλ τοῦ ποιήσαντος αὐτὸν καὶ ᾠκοδόμησαν τεμένη καὶ Ιουδας ἐπλήθυνεν πόλεις τετειχισμένας καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ πῦρ εἰς τὰς πόλεις αὐτοῦ καὶ καταφάγεται τὰ θεμέλια αὐτῶν
Et oblitus est Israël factoris sui , et aedificavit delubra ; et Judas multiplicavit urbes munitas ; et mittam ignem in civitates ejus , et devorabit aedes illius .
እመሂ ፡ ሦዑ ፡ መሥዋዕተ ፡ ወበልዑ ፡ ሥጋ ፡ ኢይትዌከፎሙ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ። ይእዜኒ ፡ እዜከር ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ኀጢአቶሙ ፡ ወእትቤቀሎሙ ፡ በጌጋዮሙ ። እሙንቱሰ ፡ ተመይጡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወይበልዑ ፡ ኵስሐ ፡ በፋርስ ።
For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; and Judah has multiplied fortified cities; but I will send a fire on his cities, and it will devour its fortresses.”
8:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — — ወረስዖ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ለፈጣሪሁ ፡ ሐነጸ ፡ ለጤሜን ፡ ወይሁዳኒ ፡ አብዝኀ ፡ አህጉረ ፡ ጥቅም ፡ ወእፌኑ ፡ እሳተ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አህጉሪሆሙ ፡ ወትበልዕ ፡ መሠረታቲሆን ።
For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; and Judah has multiplied fortified cities; but I will send a fire on his cities, and it will devour its fortresses.”
