44:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ הַדָּבָר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָיָ֣ה אֶֽל ־יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ אֶ֚ל כׇּל ־הַיְּהוּדִ֔ים הַיֹּשְׁבִ֖ים בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם הַיֹּשְׁבִ֤ים בְּמִגְדֹּל֙ וּבְתַחְפַּנְחֵ֣ס וּבְנֹ֔ף וּבְאֶ֥רֶץ פַּתְר֖וֹס לֵאמֹֽר ׃
καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Σεδεκιας υἱὸς Ιωσια ἀντὶ Ιωακιμ ὃν ἐβασίλευσεν Ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλεύειν τοῦ Ιουδα
Verbum quod factum est per Jeremiam ad omnes Judaeos qui habitabant in terra Aegypti , habitantes in Magdalo , et in Taphnis , et in Memphis , et in terra Phatures , dicens :
ቃል ፡ ዘኮነ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ኤርምያስ ፡ እምኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኀበ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ አይሁድ ፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወመግደሎ ፡ ወጠፍናስ ፡ ወውስተ ፡ ሜምፍ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ፋቱሪ ፡ ወይቤሎሙ ።
The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who lived in the land of Egypt, who lived at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Memphis, and in the country of Pathros, saying,
44:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ כֹּה ־אָמַ֞ר יְהֹוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אַתֶּ֣ם רְאִיתֶ֗ם אֵ֤ת כׇּל ־הָֽרָעָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר הֵבֵ֙אתִי֙ עַל ־יְר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם וְעַ֖ל כׇּל ־עָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה וְהִנָּ֤ם חׇרְבָּה֙ הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֔ה וְאֵ֥ין בָּהֶ֖ם יוֹשֵֽׁב ׃
καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ παῖδες αὐτοῦ καὶ ὁ λαὸς τῆς γῆς τοὺς λόγους κυρίου οὓς ἐλάλησεν ἐν χειρὶ Ιερεμιου
Haec dicit Dominus exercituum , Deus Israël : Vos vidistis omne malum istud quod adduxi super Jerusalem , et super omnes urbes Juda : et ecce desertae sunt hodie , et non est in eis habitator ,
ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ጸባኦት ፡ አምላከ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ለሊክሙ ፡ ርኢክሙ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ እኩየ ፡ ዘአምጻእኩ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም ፡ ወላዕለ ፡ አህጉረ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ዘኮነት ፡ በድወ ፡ እስከ ፡ ዛ ፡ ዕለት ፡ እምእከዮሙ ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ዘይነብሮሙ ።
“Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘You have seen all the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, and on all the cities of Judah. Behold, today they are a desolation, and no man dwells in them,
44:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ מִפְּנֵ֣י רָעָתָ֗ם אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשׂוּ֙ לְהַכְעִסֵ֔נִי לָלֶ֣כֶת לְקַטֵּ֔ר לַעֲבֹ֖ד לֵאלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֑ים אֲשֶׁר֙ לֹ֣א יְדָע֔וּם הֵ֖מָּה אַתֶּ֥ם וַאֲבֹתֵיכֶֽם ׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Σεδεκιας τὸν Ιωαχαλ υἱὸν Σελεμιου καὶ τὸν Σοφονιαν υἱὸν Μαασαιου τὸν ἱερέα πρὸς Ιερεμιαν λέγων πρόσευξαι δὴ περὶ ἡμῶν πρὸς κύριον
propter malitiam quam fecerunt ut me ad iracundiam provocarent , et irent ut sacrificarent , et colerent deos alienos quos nesciebant , et illi , et vos , et patres vestri .
እምገጸ ፡ እከዮሙ ፡ ዘገብሩ ፡ ወአምዕዑኒ ፡ ወሖሩ ፡ ይዕጥኑ ፡ ወይትቀነዩ ፡ ለአማልክተ ፡ ነኪር ፡ ዘኢየአምርዎሙ ፡ ኢእሙንቱ ፡ ወኢአበዊሆሙ ።
because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, to serve other gods that they didn’t know, neither they, nor you, nor your fathers.
44:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֶשְׁלַ֤ח אֲלֵיכֶם֙ אֶת ־כׇּל ־עֲבָדַ֣י הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים הַשְׁכֵּ֥ים וְשָׁלֹ֖חַ לֵאמֹ֑ר אַל ־נָ֣א תַעֲשׂ֗וּ אֵ֛ת דְּבַֽר ־הַתֹּעֵבָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את אֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׂנֵֽאתִי ׃
καὶ Ιερεμιας ἦλθεν καὶ διῆλθεν διὰ μέσου τῆς πόλεως καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκαν αὐτὸν εἰς οἶκον τῆς φυλακῆς
Et misi ad vos omnes servos meos prophetas , de nocte consurgens , mittensque et dicens : Nolite facere verbum abominationis hujuscemodi , quam odivi .
ወፈነውኩ ፡ ኀቤሆሙ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ አግብርትየ ፡ ነቢያተ ፡ በጽባሕ ፡ እንዘ ፡ እብል ፡ ኢትግበሩ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ምግባረ ፡ ርኩሰ ፡ ዘእጸልእ ።
However I sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, “Oh, don’t do this abominable thing that I hate.”
44:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְלֹ֤א שָֽׁמְעוּ֙ וְלֹא ־הִטּ֣וּ אֶת ־אׇזְנָ֔ם לָשׁ֖וּב מֵרָעָתָ֑ם לְבִלְתִּ֥י קַטֵּ֖ר לֵאלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִֽים ׃
καὶ δύναμις Φαραω ἐξῆλθεν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἤκουσαν οἱ Χαλδαῖοι τὴν ἀκοὴν αὐτῶν καὶ ἀνέβησαν ἀπὸ Ιερουσαλημ
Et non audierunt , nec inclinaverunt aurem suam , ut converterentur a malis suis , et non sacrificarent diis alienis .
ወኢሰምዑኒ ፡ ወኢሜጡ ፡ እዝኖሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይትመየጡ ፡ እምእከዮሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይዕጥኑ ፡ ለአማልክተ ፡ ነኪር ።
But they didn’t listen and didn’t incline their ear. They didn’t turn from their wickedness, to stop burning incense to other gods.
44:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַתִּתַּ֤ךְ חֲמָתִי֙ וְאַפִּ֔י וַתִּבְעַר֙ בְּעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה וּבְחֻצ֖וֹת יְרוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וַתִּהְיֶ֛ינָה לְחׇרְבָּ֥ה לִשְׁמָמָ֖ה כַּיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה ׃ {ס}
καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρὸς Ιερεμιαν λέγων
Et conflata est indignatio mea et furor meus , et succensa est in civitatibus Juda , et in plateis Jerusalem : et versae sunt in solitudinem et vastitatem secundum diem hanc .
ወወረደ ፡ መዐትየ ፡ ወመቅሠፍትየ ፡ ወነደ ፡ በአህጉረ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ወበአፍአሃ ፡ ለኢየሩሳሌም ፡ ወኮነ ፡ በውደ ፡ ወዓፀ ፡ እስከ ፡ ዛቲ ፡ ዕለት ።
Therefore my wrath and my anger was poured out, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as it is today.’
44:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְעַתָּ֡ה כֹּה ־אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָה֩ אֱלֹהֵ֨י צְבָא֜וֹת אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל לָמָה֩ אַתֶּ֨ם עֹשִׂ֜ים רָעָ֤ה גְדוֹלָה֙ אֶל ־נַפְשֹׁ֣תֵכֶ֔ם לְהַכְרִ֨ית לָכֶ֧ם אִישׁ ־וְאִשָּׁ֛ה עוֹלֵ֥ל וְיוֹנֵ֖ק מִתּ֣וֹךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה לְבִלְתִּ֛י הוֹתִ֥יר לָכֶ֖ם שְׁאֵרִֽית ׃
οὕτως εἶπεν κύριος οὕτως ἐρεῖς πρὸς βασιλέα Ιουδα τὸν ἀποστείλαντα πρὸς σὲ τοῦ ἐκζητῆσαί με ἰδοὺ δύναμις Φαραω ἡ ἐξελθοῦσα ὑμῖν εἰς βοήθειαν ἀποστρέψουσιν εἰς γῆν Αἰγύπτου
Et nunc haec dicit Dominus exercituum , Deus Israël : Quare vos facitis malum grande hoc contra animas vestras , ut intereat ex vobis vir et mulier , parvulus et lactens , de medio Judae , nec relinquatur vobis quidquam residuum :
ወይእዜኒ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ጸባኦት ፡ አምላከ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ለምንት ፡ ትገብሩ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ እኩየ ፡ ዓቢየ ፡ ለነፍስክሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትምትሩ ፡ ብእሴ ፡ ወብእሲተ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ወሕፃናተ ፡ ወጠባዊተ ፡ እማእከለ ፡ ሀገረ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢታትርፉ ፡ ወኢአሐደ ።
“Therefore now Yahweh, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Why do you commit great evil against your own souls, to cut off from yourselves man and woman, infant and nursing child out of the middle of Judah, to leave yourselves no one remaining,
44:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ לְהַכְעִסֵ֙נִי֙ בְּמַעֲשֵׂ֣י יְדֵיכֶ֔ם לְקַטֵּ֞ר לֵאלֹהִ֤ים אֲחֵרִים֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם אֲשֶׁר ־אַתֶּ֥ם בָּאִ֖ים לָג֣וּר שָׁ֑ם לְמַ֙עַן֙ הַכְרִ֣ית לָכֶ֔ם וּלְמַ֤עַן הֱיֽוֹתְכֶם֙ לִקְלָלָ֣ה וּלְחֶרְפָּ֔ה בְּכֹ֖ל גּוֹיֵ֥ הָאָֽרֶץ ׃
καὶ ἀναστρέψουσιν αὐτοὶ οἱ Χαλδαῖοι καὶ πολεμήσουσιν ἐπὶ τὴν πόλιν ταύτην καὶ συλλήμψονται αὐτὴν καὶ καύσουσιν αὐτὴν ἐν πυρί
provocantes me in operibus manuum vestrarum , sacrificando diis alienis in terra Aegypti , in quam ingressi estis ut habitetis ibi : et dispereatis , et sitis in maledictionem et in opprobrium cunctis gentibus terrae ?
ከመ ፡ ያምርሩኒ ፡ በምግባረ ፡ እደዊሆሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትዕጥኑ ፡ ለአማልዕክተ ፡ ባዕድ ፡ በምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ቦእክሙ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ትኅድሩ ፡ ህየ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትትመተሩ ፡ ወትኩኑ ፡ መርገመ ፡ ወጽዕለተ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ አሕዛበ ፡ ምድር ።
in that you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt where you have gone to live, that you may be cut off, and that you may be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?
44:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ הַֽשְׁכַחְתֶּם֩ אֶת ־רָע֨וֹת אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֜ם וְאֶת ־רָע֣וֹת ׀ מַלְכֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֗ה וְאֵת֙ רָע֣וֹת נָשָׁ֔יו וְאֵת֙ רָעֹ֣תֵכֶ֔ם וְאֵ֖ת רָעֹ֣ת נְשֵׁיכֶ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשׂוּ֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָ֔ה וּבְחֻצ֖וֹת יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם ׃
ὅτι οὕτως εἶπεν κύριος μὴ ὑπολάβητε ταῖς ψυχαῖς ὑμῶν λέγοντες ἀποτρέχοντες ἀπελεύσονται ἀφ’ ἡμῶν οἱ Χαλδαῖοι ὅτι οὐ μὴ ἀπέλθωσιν
Numquid obliti estis mala patrum vestrorum , et mala regum Juda , et mala uxorum ejus , et mala vestra , et mala uxorum vestrarum , quae fecerunt in terra Juda , et in regionibus Jerusalem ?
ቦኑ ፡ ተረስዐክሙ ፡ እከዮሙ ፡ ለአበዊክሙ ፡ ወእከዮሙ ፡ ለነገሥተ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ወእከየ ፡ መላእክቲሆሙ ፡ ወእከዮን ፡ ለአንስቲያክሙ ፡ ዘገብሩ ፡ በምድረ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ወበአፍአሃ ፡ ለኢየሩሳሌም ።
Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, the wickedness of the kings of Judah, the wickedness of their wives, your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
44:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ לֹ֣א דֻכְּא֔וּ עַ֖ד הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה וְלֹ֣א יָֽרְא֗וּ וְלֹא ־הָלְכ֤וּ בְתֽוֹרָתִי֙ וּבְחֻקֹּתַ֔י אֲשֶׁר ־נָתַ֥תִּי לִפְנֵיכֶ֖ם וְלִפְנֵ֥י אֲבוֹתֵיכֶֽם ׃ {ס}
καὶ ἐὰν πατάξητε πᾶσαν δύναμιν τῶν Χαλδαίων τοὺς πολεμοῦντας ὑμᾶς καὶ καταλειφθῶσίν τινες ἐκκεκεντημένοι ἕκαστος ἐν τῷ τόπῳ αὐτοῦ οὗτοι ἀναστήσονται καὶ καύσουσιν τὴν πόλιν ταύτην ἐν πυρί
Non sunt mundati usque ad diem hanc : et non timuerunt , et non ambulaverunt in lege Domini , et in praeceptis meis quae dedi coram vobis et coram patribus vestris .
ወኢያዕረፋ ፡ እስከ ፡ ዛዕለት ፡ ወኢፈርሁ ፡ ወኢዐቀቡ ፡ ሕግየ ፡ ወኢሖሩ ፡ በኵነኔየ ፡ ዘወሀብኩ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ አበዊክሙ ፡ ወቅድሜክሙ ።
They are not humbled even to this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.’
44:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ לָכֵ֗ן כֹּה ־אָמַ֞ר יְהֹוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הִנְנִ֨י שָׂ֥ם פָּנַ֛י בָּכֶ֖ם לְרָעָ֑ה וּלְהַכְרִ֖ית אֶת ־כׇּל ־יְהוּדָֽה ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε ἀνέβη ἡ δύναμις τῶν Χαλδαίων ἀπὸ Ιερουσαλημ ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς δυνάμεως Φαραω
Ideo haec dicit Dominus exercituum , Deus Israël : Ecce ego ponam faciem meam in vobis in malum : et disperdam omnem Judam .
ወበበይነዝ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላከ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ናሁ ፡ አነ ፡ አቀውም ፡ ገጽየ ፡ ላዕሌክሙ ፡ በእኩይ ፡ ከመ ፡ አሥርዎሙ ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ይሁዳ ።
“Therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, even to cut off all Judah.
44:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְלָקַחְתִּ֞י אֶת ־שְׁאֵרִ֣ית יְהוּדָ֗ה אֲשֶׁר ־שָׂ֨מוּ פְנֵיהֶ֜ם לָב֣וֹא אֶרֶץ ־מִצְרַ֘יִם֮ לָג֣וּר שָׁם֒ וְתַ֨מּוּ כֹ֜ל בְּאֶ֧רֶץ מִצְרַ֣יִם יִפֹּ֗לוּ בַּחֶ֤רֶב בָּרָעָב֙ יִתַּ֔מּוּ מִקָּטֹן֙ וְעַד ־גָּד֔וֹל בַּחֶ֥רֶב וּבָרָעָ֖ב יָמֻ֑תוּ וְהָיוּ֙ לְאָלָ֣ה לְשַׁמָּ֔ה וְלִקְלָלָ֖ה וּלְחֶרְפָּֽה ׃
ἐξῆλθεν Ιερεμιας ἀπὸ Ιερουσαλημ τοῦ πορευθῆναι εἰς γῆν Βενιαμιν τοῦ ἀγοράσαι ἐκεῖθεν ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ λαοῦ
Et assumam reliquias Judae , qui posuerunt facies suas ut ingrederentur terram Aegypti , et habitarent ibi , et consumentur omnes in terra Aegypti : cadent in gladio , et in fame , et consumentur a minimo usque ad maximum : in gladio et in fame morientur , et erunt in jusjurandum , et in miraculum , et in maledictionem , et in opprobrium .
ወእነሥኦሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ተርፉ ፡ እምይሁዳ ፡ እለ ፡ ወደዩ ፡ ገጾሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይባኡ ፡ ብሔረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ይኅድሩ ፡ ህየ ፡ ከመ ፡ አሕጕሎሙ ፡ ለኵሎሙ ፡ በምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወይወድቁ ፡ በኵናት ፡ ወበረኃብ ፡ ወየኀልቁ ፡ ንኡሶሙ ፡ ወዓቢዮሙ ፡ ወይወድቁ ፡ በኵናት ፡ ወበረኃብ ፡ ይመውቱ ፡ ወይከውኑ ፡ ለመሐላ ፡ ወለሐጕል ፡ ወለመርገም ፡ ወለጽዕለት ።
I will take the remnant of Judah that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to live there, and they will all be consumed. They will fall in the land of Egypt. They will be consumed by the sword and by the famine. They will die, from the least even to the greatest, by the sword and by the famine. They will be an object of horror, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach.
44:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּפָקַדְתִּ֗י עַ֤ל הַיּֽוֹשְׁבִים֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר פָּקַ֖דְתִּי עַל ־יְרוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם בַּחֶ֖רֶב בָּרָעָ֥ב וּבַדָּֽבֶר ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτὸς ἐν πύλῃ Βενιαμιν καὶ ἐκεῖ ἄνθρωπος παρ’ ᾧ κατέλυεν Σαρουιας υἱὸς Σελεμιου υἱοῦ Ανανιου καὶ συνέλαβεν τὸν Ιερεμιαν λέγων πρὸς τοὺς Χαλδαίους σὺ φεύγεις
Et visitabo super habitatores terrae Aegypti sicut visitavi super Jerusalem , in gladio , et fame , et peste :
ወእዋህዮሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ በከመ ፡ ወሀይክዎሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም ፡ በኵናት ፡ ወበረኃብ ፡ ወበሞት ።
For I will punish those who dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence;
44:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְלֹ֨א יִהְיֶ֜ה פָּלִ֤יט וְשָׂרִיד֙ לִשְׁאֵרִ֣ית יְהוּדָ֔ה הַבָּאִ֥ים לָגֽוּר ־שָׁ֖ם בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם וְלָשׁ֣וּב ׀ אֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָ֗ה אֲשֶׁר ־הֵ֜מָּה מְנַשְּׂאִ֤ים אֶת ־נַפְשָׁם֙ לָשׁוּב֙ לָשֶׁ֣בֶת שָׁ֔ם כִּ֥י לֹֽא ־יָשׁ֖וּבוּ כִּ֥י אִם ־פְּלֵטִֽים ׃ {פ}
καὶ εἶπεν ψεῦδος οὐκ εἰς τοὺς Χαλδαίους ἐγὼ φεύγω καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσεν αὐτοῦ καὶ συνέλαβεν Σαρουιας τὸν Ιερεμιαν καὶ εἰσήγαγεν αὐτὸν πρὸς τοὺς ἄρχοντας
et non erit qui effugiat , et sit residuus de reliquiis Judaeorum qui vadunt ut peregrinentur in terra Aegypti , et revertantur in terram Juda , ad quam ipsi elevant animas suas ut revertantur , et habitent ibi : non revertentur , nisi qui fugerint .
ወአልቦ ፡ ዘይድኅን ፡ ወይተርፍ ፡ እምውስቴቶሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ተርፉ ፡ እምይሁዳ ፡ እለ ፡ መጽኡ ፡ ይኅድሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይትመየጡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ በዘይትዌከሉ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ በነፍሶሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይግብኡ ፡ ህየ ፡ ኢይገብኡ ፡ ዘእንበከ ፡ እለ ፡ ጐዩ ።
so that none of the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, will escape or be left to return into the land of Judah, to which they have a desire to return to dwell there; for no one will return except those who will escape.’”
44:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּעֲנ֣וּ אֶֽת ־יִרְמְיָ֗הוּ כׇּל ־הָאֲנָשִׁ֤ים הַיֹּֽדְעִים֙ כִּֽי ־מְקַטְּר֤וֹת נְשֵׁיהֶם֙ לֵאלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֔ים וְכׇל ־הַנָּשִׁ֥ים הָעֹמְד֖וֹת קָהָ֣ל גָּד֑וֹל וְכׇל ־הָעָ֛ם הַיֹּשְׁבִ֥ים בְּאֶרֶץ ־מִצְרַ֖יִם בְּפַתְר֥וֹס לֵאמֹֽר ׃
καὶ ἐπικράνθησαν οἱ ἄρχοντες ἐπὶ Ιερεμιαν καὶ ἐπάταξαν αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπέστειλαν αὐτὸν εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν Ιωναθαν τοῦ γραμματέως ὅτι ταύτην ἐποίησαν εἰς οἰκίαν φυλακῆς
Responderunt autem Jeremiae omnes viri scientes quod sacrificarent uxores eorum diis alienis , et universae mulieres quarum stabat multitudo grandis , et omnis populus habitantium in terra Aegypti in Phatures , dicentes :
ወተሠጥውዎ ፡ ለኤርምያስ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ ዕደው ፡ እለ ፡ የአምሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ የዐጥና ፡ አንሰቲያሆሙ ፡ ለአማልክተ ፡ ነኪር ፡ ወኵሎን ፡ አንስት ፡ እለ ፡ ይቀውማ ፡ ማኅበረ ፡ ዓቢየ ፡ ወኵሎሙ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ፋቱርስ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብሉ ።
Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, even all the people who lived in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
44:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ הַדָּבָ֛ר אֲשֶׁר ־דִּבַּ֥רְתָּ אֵלֵ֖ינוּ בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהֹוָ֑ה אֵינֶ֥נּוּ שֹׁמְעִ֖ים אֵלֶֽיךָ ׃
καὶ ἦλθεν Ιερεμιας εἰς οἰκίαν τοῦ λάκκου καὶ εἰς τὴν χερεθ καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐκεῖ ἡμέρας πολλάς
Sermonem quem locutus es ad nos in nomine Domini , non audiemus ex te :
ነገረ ፡ ዘነገርከነ ፡ በስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኢንሰምዕ ።
“As for the word that you have spoken to us in Yahweh’s name, we will not listen to you.
44:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּי֩ עָשֹׂ֨ה נַעֲשֶׂ֜ה אֶֽת ־כׇּל ־הַדָּבָ֣ר ׀ אֲשֶׁר ־יָצָ֣א מִפִּ֗ינוּ לְקַטֵּ֞ר לִמְלֶ֣כֶת הַשָּׁמַ֘יִם֮ וְהַסֵּֽיךְ ־לָ֣הּ נְסָכִים֒ כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשִׂ֜ינוּ אֲנַ֤חְנוּ וַאֲבֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙ מְלָכֵ֣ינוּ וְשָׂרֵ֔ינוּ בְּעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה וּבְחֻצ֖וֹת יְרוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וַנִּֽשְׂבַּֽע ־לֶ֙חֶם֙ וַנִּהְיֶ֣ה טוֹבִ֔ים וְרָעָ֖ה לֹ֥א רָאִֽינוּ ׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Σεδεκιας καὶ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτόν καὶ ἠρώτα αὐτὸν ὁ βασιλεὺς κρυφαίως εἰπεῖν εἰ ἔστιν λόγος παρὰ κυρίου καὶ εἶπεν ἔστιν εἰς χεῖρας βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος παραδοθήσῃ
sed facientes faciemus omne verbum quod egredietur de ore nostro , ut sacrificemus reginae caeli , et libemus ei libamina , sicut fecimus nos et patres nostri , reges nostri et principes nostri , in urbibus Juda , et in plateis Jerusalem : et saturati sumus panibus , et bene nobis erat , malumque non vidimus .
እስመ ፡ ገቢረ ፡ ንገብር ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዘወፅአ ፡ እምአፉነ ፡ ወነዐጥን ፡ ለንግሥተ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወሞጻሕተኒ ፡ ናወጽሕ ፡ ላቲ ፡ በከመ ፡ ገበርነ ፡ ንሕነ ፡ ወአበዊነ ፡ ወነገሥትነ ፡ ወመላእክቲነ ፡ በሀገረ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ወበአፍአሃ ፡ ለኢየሩሳሌም ፡ ወጸገብነ ፡ እክለ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ በሠናይ ፡ ወኢርኢነ ፡ እኩየ ።
But we will certainly perform every word that has gone out of our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of the sky and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then we had plenty of food, and were well, and saw no evil.
44:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּמִן ־אָ֡ז חָדַ֜לְנוּ לְקַטֵּ֨ר לִמְלֶ֧כֶת הַשָּׁמַ֛יִם וְהַסֵּֽךְ ־לָ֥הּ נְסָכִ֖ים חָסַ֣רְנוּ כֹ֑ל וּבַחֶ֥רֶב וּבָרָעָ֖ב תָּֽמְנוּ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ιερεμιας τῷ βασιλεῖ τί ἠδίκησά σε καὶ τοὺς παῖδάς σου καὶ τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον ὅτι σὺ δίδως με εἰς οἰκίαν φυλακῆς
Ex eo autem tempore quo cessavimus sacrificare reginae caeli , et libare ei libamina , indigemus omnibus , et gladio et fame consumpti sumus .
ወሶበ ፡ ኀደግነ ፡ ዐጢነ ፡ ለንግሠተ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወአውጽሖ ፡ ሞጻሕት ፡ ላቲ ፡ ውሕድነ ፡ ንሕነ ፡ ኵልነ ፡ ወበረኃብ ፡ ወበኵናት ፡ ኀለቅነ ።
But since we stopped burning incense to the queen of the sky, and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.”
44:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְכִֽי ־אֲנַ֤חְנוּ מְקַטְּרִים֙ לִמְלֶ֣כֶת הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וּלְהַסֵּ֥ךְ לָ֖הּ נְסָכִ֑ים הֲמִֽבַּלְעֲדֵ֣י אֲנָשֵׁ֗ינוּ עָשִׂ֨ינוּ לָ֤הּ כַּוָּנִים֙ לְהַ֣עֲצִבָ֔הֿ וְהַסֵּ֥ךְ לָ֖הּ נְסָכִֽים ׃ {ס}
καὶ ποῦ εἰσιν οἱ προφῆται ὑμῶν οἱ προφητεύσαντες ὑμῖν λέγοντες ὅτι οὐ μὴ ἔλθῃ βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ταύτην
Quod si nos sacrificamus reginae caeli , et libamus ei libamina , numquid sine viris nostris fecimus ei placentas ad colendum eam , et libandum ei libamina ?
ወይቤላ ፡ አንስት ፡ ንሕነሂ ፡ ነዐጥን ፡ ለንግሥተ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወሞጻሕተ ፡ ናወጽሕ ፡ ላቲ ፡ ቦኑ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ዕደዊነ ፡ ዘገበርነ ፡ ላቲ ፡ ከዋኒመ ፡ ወአውጻሕነ ፡ ላቲ ፡ ሞጻሕተ ።
The women said, “When we burned incense to the queen of the sky and poured out drink offerings to her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings to her, without our husbands?”
44:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ אֶל ־כׇּל ־הָעָ֑ם עַל ־הַגְּבָרִ֤ים וְעַל ־הַנָּשִׁים֙ וְעַל ־כׇּל ־הָעָ֔ם הָעֹנִ֥ים אֹת֛וֹ דָּבָ֖ר לֵאמֹֽר ׃
καὶ νῦν κύριε βασιλεῦ πεσέτω τὸ ἔλεός μου κατὰ πρόσωπόν σου καὶ τί ἀποστρέφεις με εἰς οἰκίαν Ιωναθαν τοῦ γραμματέως καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνω ἐκεῖ
Et dixit Jeremias ad omnem populum , adversum viros , et adversum mulieres , et adversum universam plebem , qui responderant ei verbum , dicens :
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ኤርምያስ ፡ ለኵሎሙ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ለዕደው ፡ ወለአንስት ፡ ወለኵሎሙ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ እለ ፡ አውሥእዎ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ቃለ ።
Then Jeremiah said to all the people—to the men and to the women, even to all the people who had given him an answer, saying,
44:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ הֲל֣וֹא אֶת ־הַקִּטֵּ֗ר אֲשֶׁ֨ר קִטַּרְתֶּ֜ם בְּעָרֵ֤י יְהוּדָה֙ וּבְחֻצ֣וֹת יְרוּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם אַתֶּ֧ם וַאֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֛ם מַלְכֵיכֶ֥ם וְשָׂרֵיכֶ֖ם וְעַ֣ם הָאָ֑רֶץ אֹתָם֙ זָכַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה וַֽתַּעֲלֶ֖ה עַל ־לִבּֽוֹ ׃
καὶ συνέταξεν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ἐνεβάλοσαν αὐτὸν εἰς οἰκίαν τῆς φυλακῆς καὶ ἐδίδοσαν αὐτῷ ἄρτον ἕνα τῆς ἡμέρας ἔξωθεν οὗ πέσσουσιν ἕως ἐξέλιπον οἱ ἄρτοι ἐκ τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἐκάθισεν Ιερεμιας ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ τῆς φυλακῆς
Numquid non sacrificium quod sacrificastis in civitatibus Juda , et in plateis Jerusalem , vos et patres vestri , reges vestri , et principes vestri , et populus terrae , horum recordatus est Dominus , et ascendit super cor ejus ?
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ አኮኑ ፡ ዕጣነ ፡ ዘዐጠንክሙ ፡ በአህጉረ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ወአፍአሃ ፡ ለኢየሩሳሌም ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ወአበዊክሙ ፡ ወነገሥትክሙ ፡ ወመላእክቲሙ ፡ ወሕዝበ ፡ ምድርኒ ፡ ኪያሆሙ ፡ ተዘከረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወዐርገ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ልቡ ።
“The incense that you burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, didn’t Yahweh remember them, and didn’t it come into his mind?
44:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְלֹא ־יוּכַל֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה ע֜וֹד לָשֵׂ֗את מִפְּנֵי֙ רֹ֣עַ מַעַלְלֵיכֶ֔ם מִפְּנֵ֥י הַתּוֹעֵבֹ֖ת אֲשֶׁ֣ר עֲשִׂיתֶ֑ם וַתְּהִ֣י אַ֠רְצְכֶ֠ם לְחׇרְבָּ֨ה וּלְשַׁמָּ֧ה וְלִקְלָלָ֛ה מֵאֵ֥ין יוֹשֵׁ֖ב כְּהַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה ׃
— Et non poterat Dominus ultra portare propter malitiam studiorum vestrorum , et propter abominationes quas fecistis : et facta est terra vestra in desolationem , et in stuporem , et in maledictum , eo quod non sit habitator , sicut est dies haec .
ወኢክህለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኪያሆሙ ፡ ጸዊረ ፡ እምገጸ ፡ እከይክሙ ፡ ወርኵስክሙ ፡ ዘገበርክሙ ።
Thus Yahweh could no longer bear it, because of the evil of your doings and because of the abominations which you have committed. Therefore your land has become a desolation, an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is today.
44:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ מִפְּנֵי֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר קִטַּרְתֶּ֜ם וַאֲשֶׁ֧ר חֲטָאתֶ֣ם לַיהֹוָ֗ה וְלֹ֤א שְׁמַעְתֶּם֙ בְּק֣וֹל יְהֹוָ֔ה וּבְתֹרָת֧וֹ וּבְחֻקֹּתָ֛יו וּבְעֵדְוֺתָ֖יו לֹ֣א הֲלַכְתֶּ֑ם עַל ־כֵּ֞ן קָרָ֥את אֶתְכֶ֛ם הָרָעָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את כַּיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה ׃ {ס}
— Propterea quod sacrificaveritis idolis , et peccaveritis Domino , et non audieritis vocem Domini , et in lege , et in praeceptis , et in testimoniis ejus non ambulaveritis , idcirco evenerunt vobis mala haec , sicut est dies haec .
እምገጸ ፡ ዕጣን ፡ ዘዐጠንክሙ ፡ ወአበስክሙ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወኢሰመዕክሙ ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወበሕጉ ፡ ወበስምዑ ፡ ወበትዕዛዙ ፡ ኢሖርክሙ ፡ ወበእንተዝ ፡ ረከበክሙ ፡ ዝ ፡ እኩይ ፡ እስከ ፡ ዛ ፡ ዕለት ።
Because you have burned incense and because you have sinned against Yahweh, and have not obeyed Yahweh’s voice, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil has happened to you, as it is today.”
44:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִרְמְיָ֙הוּ֙ אֶל ־כׇּל ־הָעָ֔ם וְאֶ֖ל כׇּל ־הַנָּשִׁ֑ים שִׁמְעוּ֙ דְּבַר ־יְהֹוָ֔ה כׇּל ־יְהוּדָ֕ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם ׃
— Dixit autem Jeremias ad omnem populum , et ad universas mulieres : Audite verbum Domini , omnis Juda qui estis in terra Aegypti .
ወይቤ ፡ ኤርምያስ ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወለአንስት ፡ ስምዑ ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኵልክሙ ፡ አይሁድ ፡ እለ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ።
Moreover Jeremiah said to all the people, including all the women, “Hear Yahweh’s word, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt!
44:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ כֹּֽה ־אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָֽה ־צְבָאוֹת֩ אֱלֹהֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל לֵאמֹ֗ר אַתֶּ֨ם וּנְשֵׁיכֶ֜ם וַתְּדַבֵּ֣רְנָה בְּפִיכֶם֮ וּבִידֵיכֶ֣ם מִלֵּאתֶ֣ם ׀לֵאמֹר֒ עָשֹׂ֨ה נַעֲשֶׂ֜ה אֶת ־נְדָרֵ֗ינוּ אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָדַ֙רְנוּ֙ לְקַטֵּר֙ לִמְלֶ֣כֶת הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וּלְהַסֵּ֥ךְ לָ֖הּ נְסָכִ֑ים הָקֵ֤ים תָּקִ֙ימְנָה֙ אֶת ־נִדְרֵיכֶ֔ם וְעָשֹׂ֥ה תַעֲשֶׂ֖ינָה אֶת ־נִדְרֵיכֶֽם ׃ {ס}
— Haec inquit Dominus exercituum , Deus Israël , dicens : Vos et uxores vestrae locuti estis ore vestro , et manibus vestris implestis , dicentes : Faciamus vota nostra quae vovimus , ut sacrificemus reginae caeli , et libemus ei libamina . Implestis vota vestra , et opere perpetrastis ea .
ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላከ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ወአንስቲያክሙ ፡ ነበብክሙ ፡ በአፍክሙ ፡ ወፈጸምክሙ ፡ በእደዊክሙ ፡ ወትቤሉ ፡ ገቢረ ፡ ንገብር ፡ ዘበፃዕነ ፡ ብፅዓቲነ ፡ ከመ ፡ ንዕጥን ፡ ለንግሥተ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወናውጽሕ ፡ ላቲ ፡ ሞጻሕተ ፡ ወገበርክሙ ፡ ገቢረ ፡ ብከመ ፡ በፃዕክሙ ፡ ወገቢረ ፡ ገበርክሙ ፡ ዘነበብክሙ ።
Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says, ‘You and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and with your hands have fulfilled it, saying, “We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of the sky, and to pour out drink offerings to her.” “‘Establish then your vows, and perform your vows.’
44:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ לָכֵן֙ שִׁמְע֣וּ דְבַר ־יְהֹוָ֔ה כׇּל ־יְהוּדָ֕ה הַיֹּשְׁבִ֖ים בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם הִנְנִ֨י נִשְׁבַּ֜עְתִּי בִּשְׁמִ֤י הַגָּדוֹל֙ אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה אִם ־יִהְיֶה֩ ע֨וֹד שְׁמִ֜י נִקְרָ֣א ׀ בְּפִ֣י ׀ כׇּל ־אִ֣ישׁ יְהוּדָ֗ה אֹמֵ֛ר חַי ־אֲדֹנָ֥י יֱהֹוִ֖ה בְּכׇל ־אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם ׃
— Ideo audite verbum Domini , omnis Juda qui habitatis in terra Aegypti : Ecce ego juravi in nomine meo magno , ait Dominus , quia nequaquam ultra vocabitur nomen meum ex ore omnis viri Judaei , dicentis : Vivit Dominus Deus , in omni terra Aegypti .
በእንተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ስምዑ ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኵልክሙ ፡ አይሁድ ፡ እለ ፡ ትነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ናሁ ፡ መሐልኩ ፡ በስምየ ፡ ዓቢይ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እመ ፡ ይከውን ፡ እንከ ፡ ስምየ ፡ ለጸውዖ ፡ በአፈ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ዘይብሉ ፡ ሕያው ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዘእምኵሉ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ።
“Therefore hear Yahweh’s word, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: ‘Behold, I have sworn by my great name,’ says Yahweh, ‘that my name will no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, “As the Lord Yahweh lives.”
44:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ הִנְנִ֨י שֹׁקֵ֧ד עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם לְרָעָ֖ה וְלֹ֣א לְטוֹבָ֑ה וְתַ֩מּוּ֩ כׇל ־אִ֨ישׁ יְהוּדָ֜ה אֲשֶׁ֧ר בְּאֶֽרֶץ ־מִצְרַ֛יִם בַּחֶ֥רֶב וּבָרָעָ֖ב עַד ־כְּלוֹתָֽם ׃
— Ecce ego vigilabo super eos in malum , et non in bonum : et consumentur omnes viri Juda qui sunt in terra Aegypti gladio et fame , donec penitus consumantur .
እስመ ፡ አነ ፡ እተግህ ፡ በእንቲአሆሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ እሣቅዮሙ ፡ ወኢያሤኒ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ ወየኀልቁ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ አይሁድ ፡ በምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ በኵናት ፡ ወበረኃብ ፡ እስከ ፡ የኀልቁ ።
Behold, I watch over them for evil, and not for good; and all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt will be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until they are all gone.
44:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּפְלִיטֵ֨י חֶ֜רֶב יְשֻׁב֨וּן מִן ־אֶ֧רֶץ מִצְרַ֛יִם אֶ֥רֶץ יְהוּדָ֖ה מְתֵ֣י מִסְפָּ֑ר וְֽיָדְע֞וּ כׇּל ־שְׁאֵרִ֣ית יְהוּדָ֗ה הַבָּאִ֤ים לְאֶֽרֶץ ־מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ לָג֣וּר שָׁ֔ם דְּבַר ־מִ֥י יָק֖וּם מִמֶּ֥נִּי וּמֵהֶֽם ׃
— Et qui fugerint gladium , revertentur de terra Aegypti in terram Juda viri pauci : et scient omnes reliquiae Juda , ingredientium terram Aegypti ut habitent ibi , cujus sermo compleatur , meus an illorum .
ወዘድኅኑ ፡ እምኵናት ፡ ይትመየጡ ፡ እምግብጽ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ኅዳጣን ፡ በኁልቊ ፡ ወያእምሩ ፡ እለ ፡ ተርፉ ፡ አይሁድ ፡ በምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይንበሩ ፡ ህየ ፡ ነገረ ፡ መኑ ፡ ይቀውም ፡ ዘዚአየኑ ፡ ወሚመዘዚአሆሙ ።
Those who escape the sword will return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah few in number. All the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, will know whose word will stand, mine or theirs.
44:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְזֹאת ־לָכֶ֤ם הָאוֹת֙ נְאֻם ־יְהֹוָ֔ה כִּי ־פֹקֵ֥ד אֲנִ֛י עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם בַּמָּק֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה לְמַ֙עַן֙ תֵּֽדְע֔וּ כִּי֩ ק֨וֹם יָק֧וּמוּ דְבָרַ֛י עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם לְרָעָֽה ׃ {פ}
— Et hoc vobis signum , ait Dominus , quod visitem ego super vos in loco isto , ut sciatis quia vere complebuntur sermones mei contra vos in malum :
ወዝንቱ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ትእምርትክሙ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ እሔውጸክሙ ፡ በዝንቱ ፡ መካን ፡ ከመ ፡ ታእምሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ ቀዊመ ፡ ይቀውም ፡ ላዕሌክሙ ፡ ቃልየ ፡ ዘእኩይ ።
“‘This will be the sign to you,’ says Yahweh, ‘that I will punish you in this place, that you may know that my words will surely stand against you for evil.’
44:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ כֹּ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה הִנְנִ֣י נֹ֠תֵ֠ן אֶת ־פַּרְעֹ֨ה חׇפְרַ֤ע מֶֽלֶךְ ־מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ בְּיַ֣ד אֹֽיְבָ֔יו וּבְיַ֖ד מְבַקְשֵׁ֣י נַפְשׁ֑וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֜תִּי אֶת ־צִדְקִיָּ֣הוּ מֶלֶךְ ־יְהוּדָ֗ה בְּיַ֨ד נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֧ר מֶלֶךְ ־בָּבֶ֛ל אֹיְב֖וֹ וּמְבַקֵּ֥שׁ נַפְשֽׁוֹ ׃ {ס}
— haec dicit Dominus : Ecce ego tradam Pharaonem Ephree regem Aegypti in manu inimicorum ejus , et in manu quaerentium animam illius , sicut tradidi Sedeciam regem Juda in manu Nabuchodonosor regis Babylonis inimici sui , et quaerentis animam ejus .
ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ናሁ ፡ አነ ፡ እሜጥዎ ፡ ለፈርዖን ፡ ወፍራ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እደ ፡ ጸላእቱ ፡ ወውስተ ፡ እደ ፡ እለ ፡ የኀሥሥዋ ፡ ለነፍሱ ፡ በከመ ፡ መጠውክዎ ፡ ለሴዴቅያስ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እዴሁ ፡ ለናቡከደነፆር ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ባቢሎን ፡ ወውስተ ፡ እደ ፡ ጸላእቱ ፡ ወውስተ ፡ እደ ፡ የኀሥሥዋ ፡ ለነፍሱ ።
Yahweh says, ‘Behold, I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies and into the hand of those who seek his life, just as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who was his enemy and sought his life.’”
