1:1
אִ֛ישׁ הָיָ֥ה בְאֶֽרֶץ־ע֖וּץ אִיּ֣וֹב שְׁמ֑וֹ וְהָיָ֣ה׀ הָאִ֣ישׁ הַה֗וּא תָּ֧ם וְיָשָׁ֛ר וִירֵ֥א אֱלֹהִ֖ים וְסָ֥ר מֵרָֽע׃
ἄνθρωπός τις ἦν ἐν χώρᾳ τῇ Αυσίτιδι ᾧ ὄνομα Ιωβ καὶ ἦν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖνος ἀληθινός ἄμεμπτος δίκαιος θεοσεβής ἀπεχόμενος ἀπὸ παντὸς πονηροῦ πράγματος
Vir erat in terra Hus, nomine Job : et erat vir ille simplex, et rectus, ac timens Deum, et recedens a malo.
ወሀሎ፡ አሐዱ፡ ብእሲ፡ በብሔር፡ አውስጢድ፡ ዘስሙ፡ ኢዮብ፡ ወውእቱ፡ ብእሲ፡ ራትዕ፡ ወንጹሕ፡ ወጻድቅ፡ ወፈራሄ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወይትገኃሥ፡ ምስለ፡ ልቡ፡ እምኵሉ፡ ምግባር፡ እኩይ።
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God, and turned away from evil.
1:2
וַיִּוָּ֥לְדוּ ל֛וֹ שִׁבְעָ֥ה בָנִ֖ים וְשָׁל֥וֹשׁ בָּנֽוֹת׃
ἐγένοντο δὲ αὐτῷ υἱοὶ ἑπτὰ καὶ θυγατέρες τρεῖς
Natique sunt ei septem filii, et tres filiae.
ወቦቱ፡ ሰብዓቱ፡ ደቂቅ፡ ወሠላስ፡ አዋልድ፡፡
There were born to him seven sons and three daughters.
1:3
וַיְהִ֣י מִ֠קְנֵ֠הוּ שִֽׁבְעַ֨ת אַלְפֵי־צֹ֜אן וּשְׁלֹ֧שֶׁת אַלְפֵ֣י גְמַלִּ֗ים וַחֲמֵ֨שׁ מֵא֤וֹת צֶֽמֶד־בָּקָר֙ וַחֲמֵ֣שׁ מֵא֣וֹת אֲתוֹנ֔וֹת וַעֲבֻדָּ֖ה רַבָּ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד וַֽיְהִי֙ הָאִ֣ישׁ הַה֔וּא גָּד֖וֹל מִכׇּל־בְּנֵי־קֶֽדֶם׃
καὶ ἦν τὰ κτήνη αὐτοῦ πρόβατα ἑπτακισχίλια κάμηλοι τρισχίλιαι ζεύγη βοῶν πεντακόσια ὄνοι θήλειαι νομάδες πεντακόσιαι καὶ ὑπηρεσία πολλὴ σφόδρα καὶ ἔργα μεγάλα ἦν αὐτῷ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἦν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖνος εὐγενὴς τῶν ἀφ’ ἡλίου ἀνατολῶν
Et fuit possessio ejus septem millia ovium, et tria millia camelorum, quingenta quoque juga boum, et quingentae asinae, ac familia multa nimis : eratque vir ille magnus inter omnes orientales.
ወእንስሳሁኒ፡ ሰብዓ፡ ምእት፡ ወአባግዒሁኒ፡ ሠላሳ፡ ምእት፡ ወአግማሊሁኒ፡ ኃምስቱ፡ ምእት፡ ጽምደ፡ አልሕምቲሁኒ፡ ኃምስቱ፡ ምእት፡ ወአእዱጊሁኒ፡ አእኑስ፡ ኃምስቱ፡ ምእት።
His possessions also were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the children of the east.
1:4
וְהָלְכ֤וּ בָנָיו֙ וְעָשׂ֣וּ מִשְׁתֶּ֔ה בֵּ֖ית אִ֣ישׁ יוֹמ֑וֹ וְשָׁלְח֗וּ וְקָֽרְאוּ֙ לִשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת אַחְיֹתֵיהֶ֔ם לֶאֱכֹ֥ל וְלִשְׁתּ֖וֹת עִמָּהֶֽם׃
συμπορευόμενοι δὲ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ πρὸς ἀλλήλους ἐποιοῦσαν πότον καθ’ ἑκάστην ἡμέραν συμπαραλαμβάνοντες ἅμα καὶ τὰς τρεῖς ἀδελφὰς αὐτῶν ἐσθίειν καὶ πίνειν μετ’ αὐτῶν
Et ibant filii ejus, et faciebant convivium per domos, unusquisque in die suo. Et mittentes vocabant tres sorores suas, ut comederent et biberent cum eis.
ውብዙኃን፡ አግብርቲሁ፡ ጥቀ፡ ወዓቢይ፡ ተግባሩ፡ በዲበ፡ ምድር፡ ወውእቱሰ፡ ብእሲ፡ ኄር፡ በብሔረ፡ ጽባሕ፡ በምሥራቀ፡ ፀሐይ።
His sons went and held a feast in the house of each one on his birthday; and they sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
1:5
וַיְהִ֡י כִּ֣י הִקִּ֩יפוּ֩ יְמֵ֨י הַמִּשְׁתֶּ֜ה וַיִּשְׁלַ֧ח אִיּ֣וֹב וַֽיְקַדְּשֵׁ֗ם וְהִשְׁכִּ֣ים בַּבֹּ֘קֶר֮ וְהֶעֱלָ֣ה עֹלוֹת֮ מִסְפַּ֣ר כֻּלָּם֒ כִּ֚י אָמַ֣ר אִיּ֔וֹב אוּלַי֙ חָטְא֣וּ בָנַ֔י וּבֵרְכ֥וּ אֱלֹהִ֖ים בִּלְבָבָ֑ם כָּ֛כָה יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה אִיּ֖וֹב כׇּל־הַיָּמִֽים׃ {פ}
καὶ ὡς ἂν συνετελέσθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ πότου ἀπέστελλεν Ιωβ καὶ ἐκαθάριζεν αὐτοὺς ἀνιστάμενος τὸ πρωὶ καὶ προσέφερεν περὶ αὐτῶν θυσίας κατὰ τὸν ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν καὶ μόσχον ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας περὶ τῶν ψυχῶν αὐτῶν ἔλεγεν γὰρ Ιωβ μήποτε οἱ υἱοί μου ἐν τῇ διανοίᾳ αὐτῶν κακὰ ἐνενόησαν πρὸς θεόν οὕτως οὖν ἐποίει Ιωβ πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας
Cumque in orbem transissent dies convivii, mittebat ad eos Job, et sanctificabat illos : consurgensque diluculo, offerebat holocausta pro singulis. Dicebat enim : Ne forte peccaverint filii mei, et benedixerint Deo in cordibus suis. Sic faciebat Job cunctis diebus.
ወየሐውሩ፡ ደቂቁ፡ ወይትጋብኡ፡ ኅቡረ፡ ወይገበሩ፡ ምሳሐ፡ ኵሎ፡ አሚረ፡ ወይነሥኡ፡ ሠላሰ፡ አኃቲሆሙ፡ ወይበልዓ፡ ወይሰትያ፡ ምስሌሆሙ።
It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts.” Job did so continually.
1:6
וַיְהִ֣י הַיּ֔וֹם וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים לְהִתְיַצֵּ֖ב עַל־יְהֹוָ֑ה וַיָּב֥וֹא גַֽם־הַשָּׂטָ֖ן בְּתוֹכָֽם׃
καὶ ὡς ἐγένετο ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη καὶ ἰδοὺ ἦλθον οἱ ἄγγελοι τοῦ θεοῦ παραστῆναι ἐνώπιον τοῦ κυρίου καὶ ὁ διάβολος ἦλθεν μετ’ αὐτῶν
Quadam autem die, cum venissent filii Dei ut assisterent coram Domino, affuit inter eos etiam Satan.
ወተፈጺሞ፡ መዋዕለ፡ ግዝኦሙ፡ ይፌንዎሙ፡ ኢዮብ፡ ቅድመ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወያስተሠሪ፡ ሎሙ፡ ወይገይሥ፡ በጽባሕ፡ ወያበውእ፡ መሥዋዕተ፡ በእንቲአሆሙ፡ በኍልቆሙ።
Now on the day when God’s sons came to present themselves before Yahweh, Satan also came among them.
1:7
וַיֹּ֧אמֶר יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶל־הַשָּׂטָ֖ן מֵאַ֣יִן תָּבֹ֑א וַיַּ֨עַן הַשָּׂטָ֤ן אֶת־יְהֹוָה֙ וַיֹּאמַ֔ר מִשּׁ֣וּט בָּאָ֔רֶץ וּמֵֽהִתְהַלֵּ֖ךְ בָּֽהּ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ κύριος τῷ διαβόλῳ πόθεν παραγέγονας καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ διάβολος τῷ κυρίῳ εἶπεν περιελθὼν τὴν γῆν καὶ ἐμπεριπατήσας τὴν ὑπ’ οὐρανὸν πάρειμι
Cui dixit Dominus : Unde venis ? Qui respondens, ait : Circuivi terram, et perambulavi eam.
ወአሐይ፡ ላሕመ፡ በእንተ፡ ኃጢአተ፡ ነፍሱ።
Yahweh said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, “From going back and forth on the earth, and from walking up and down in it.”
1:8
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ אֶל־הַשָּׂטָ֔ן הֲשַׂ֥מְתָּ לִבְּךָ֖ עַל־עַבְדִּ֣י אִיּ֑וֹב כִּ֣י אֵ֤ין כָּמֹ֙הוּ֙ בָּאָ֔רֶץ אִ֣ישׁ תָּ֧ם וְיָשָׁ֛ר יְרֵ֥א אֱלֹהִ֖ים וְסָ֥ר מֵרָֽע׃
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ κύριος προσέσχες τῇ διανοίᾳ σου κατὰ τοῦ παιδός μου Ιωβ ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν κατ’ αὐτὸν τῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἄνθρωπος ἄμεμπτος ἀληθινός θεοσεβής ἀπεχόμενος ἀπὸ παντὸς πονηροῦ πράγματος
Dixitque Dominus ad eum : Numquid considerasti servum meum Job, quod non sit ei similis in terra, homo simplex et rectus, ac timens Deum, et recedens a malo ?
ወይብል፡ ኢዮብ፡ ለእመቦ፡ ዘይሔልዩ፡ ደቂቅየ፡ እኩየ፡ ላዕለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወከመዝ፡ ይገብር፡ ኢዮብ፡ በኵሉ፡ መዋዕለ፡ ሕይወቱ።
Yahweh said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant, Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil.”
1:9
וַיַּ֧עַן הַשָּׂטָ֛ן אֶת־יְהֹוָ֖ה וַיֹּאמַ֑ר הַֽחִנָּ֔ם יָרֵ֥א אִיּ֖וֹב אֱלֹהִֽים׃
ἀπεκρίθη δὲ ὁ διάβολος καὶ εἶπεν ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου μὴ δωρεὰν σέβεται Ιωβ τὸν θεόν
Cui respondens Satan, ait : Numquid Job frustra timet Deum ?
ወእምድኅረ፡ ይእቲ፡ ዕለት፡ መጽኡ፡ መላእክተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወመጽአ፡ ሰይጣንኒ፡ ምስሌሆሙ፡ ወቆመ፡ በመካኑ፡፡ 10፡ ወይቤሎ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለሰይጣን፡ እምአይቴ፡ መጻእከ፡ ወተሰጥዎ፡ ሰይጣን፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ዖድክዋ፡ ለኵላ፡ ምድር፡ ወአንሶሰውኩ፡ ታሕተ፡ ሰማይ፡ ወመጻእኩ።
Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing?
1:10
הֲלֹֽא־[אַ֠תָּ֠ה] (את) שַׂ֣כְתָּ בַעֲד֧וֹ וּבְעַד־בֵּית֛וֹ וּבְעַ֥ד כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־ל֖וֹ מִסָּבִ֑יב מַעֲשֵׂ֤ה יָדָיו֙ בֵּרַ֔כְתָּ וּמִקְנֵ֖הוּ פָּרַ֥ץ בָּאָֽרֶץ׃
οὐ σὺ περιέφραξας τὰ ἔξω αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ ἔσω τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ ἔξω πάντων τῶν ὄντων αὐτῷ κύκλῳ τὰ ἔργα τῶν χειρῶν αὐτοῦ εὐλόγησας καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτοῦ πολλὰ ἐποίησας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς
nonne tu vallasti eum, ac domum ejus, universamque substantiam per circuitum ; operibus manuum ejus benedixisti, et possessio ejus crevit in terra ?
—
Haven’t you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
1:11
וְאוּלָם֙ שְֽׁלַֽח־נָ֣א יָֽדְךָ֔ וְגַ֖ע בְּכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־ל֑וֹ אִם־לֹ֥א עַל־פָּנֶ֖יךָ יְבָרְכֶֽךָּ׃
ἀλλὰ ἀπόστειλον τὴν χεῖρά σου καὶ ἅψαι πάντων ὧν ἔχει εἰ μὴν εἰς πρόσωπόν σε εὐλογήσει
sed extende paululum manum tuam et tange cuncta quae possidet, nisi in faciem benedixerit tibi.
ወይቤሎ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለሰይጣን፡ ዑቅኬ፡ አልቦ፡ ዘትሔሊ፡ ላዕለ፡ ልዔየ፡ ኢዮብ፡ እስመ፡ አልቦ፡ ዘከማሁ፡ በዲበ፡ ምድር፡ ብእሲ፡ ንጹሕ፡ ወጻድቅ፡ ወፈራሄ፡ እግዚአብሄር፡ ወይትገኅሥ፡ ምስለ፡ ልቡ፡ እምኵሉ፡ ምግባር፡ እኩይ፡፡
But stretch out your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will renounce you to your face.”
1:12
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה אֶל־הַשָּׂטָ֗ן הִנֵּ֤ה כׇל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ֙ בְּיָדֶ֔ךָ רַ֣ק אֵלָ֔יו אַל־תִּשְׁלַ֖ח יָדֶ֑ךָ וַיֵּצֵא֙ הַשָּׂטָ֔ן מֵעִ֖ם פְּנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃
τότε εἶπεν ὁ κύριος τῷ διαβόλῳ ἰδοὺ πάντα ὅσα ἔστιν αὐτῷ δίδωμι ἐν τῇ χειρί σου ἀλλὰ αὐτοῦ μὴ ἅψῃ καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὁ διάβολος παρὰ τοῦ κυρίου
Dixit ergo Dominus ad Satan : Ecce universa quae habet in manu tua sunt : tantum in eum ne extendas manum tuam. Egressusque est Satan a facie Domini.
ወተሰጥወ፡ ሰይጣን፡ ቅድመ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወይቤ፡ ቦኑ፡ በከንቱ፡ ያመልኮ፡ ኢዮስ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወኵሉ፡ ዘዓውዱሂ፡ ወባረከ፡ ተግባረ፡ አደዊሁ፡ ወአብዛኅከ፡ እንስሳሁ፡ በዲበ፡ ምድር፡ አከኑ፡ አንተ፡ መላእከ፡ ሎቱ፡ እምውስጡ፡ ወእምአፍአሁ፡ ቤቶ።
Yahweh said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself don’t stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of Yahweh.
1:13
וַיְהִ֖י הַיּ֑וֹם וּבָנָ֨יו וּבְנֹתָ֤יו אֹֽכְלִים֙ וְשֹׁתִ֣ים יַ֔יִן בְּבֵ֖ית אֲחִיהֶ֥ם הַבְּכֽוֹר׃
καὶ ἦν ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη οἱ υἱοὶ Ιωβ καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες αὐτοῦ ἔπινον οἶνον ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτῶν τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου
Cum autem quadam die filii et filiae ejus comederent et biberent vinum in domo fratris sui primogeniti,
ወባሕቱ፡ ፈኑ፡ እዴከ፡ ወግሥሥ፡ ኵሉ፡ ዘቦ፡ ዳእሙ፡ እመውስተ፡ ገጽከ፡ ኢባረከከ፡፡
It fell on a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,
1:14
וּמַלְאָ֛ךְ בָּ֥א אֶל־אִיּ֖וֹב וַיֹּאמַ֑ר הַבָּקָר֙ הָי֣וּ חֹֽרְשׁ֔וֹת וְהָאֲתֹנ֖וֹת רֹע֥וֹת עַל־יְדֵיהֶֽם׃
καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄγγελος ἦλθεν πρὸς Ιωβ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ τὰ ζεύγη τῶν βοῶν ἠροτρία καὶ αἱ θήλειαι ὄνοι ἐβόσκοντο ἐχόμεναι αὐτῶν
nuntius venit ad Job, qui diceret : Boves arabant, et asinae pascebantur juxta eos :
ወእምዝ፡ ይቤሎ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለሰይጣን፡ ናሁኬ፡ ኵሎ፡ ዘቦ፡ ወጠውኰክ፡ ውስተ፡ እዴከ፡ ዳእሙ፡ ኪያሁ፡ ኢትግሥሥ፡ ወወፅአ፡ ሰይጣን፡ እምኅበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ እንዘ፡ ይትፌሣሕ።
that a messenger came to Job, and said, “The oxen were plowing, and the donkeys feeding beside them,
1:15
וַתִּפֹּ֤ל שְׁבָא֙ וַתִּקָּחֵ֔ם וְאֶת־הַנְּעָרִ֖ים הִכּ֣וּ לְפִי־חָ֑רֶב וָאִמָּ֨לְטָ֧ה רַק־אֲנִ֛י לְבַדִּ֖י לְהַגִּ֥יד לָֽךְ׃
καὶ ἐλθόντες οἱ αἰχμαλωτεύοντες ᾐχμαλώτευσαν αὐτὰς καὶ τοὺς παῖδας ἀπέκτειναν ἐν μαχαίραις σωθεὶς δὲ ἐγὼ μόνος ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγεῖλαί σοι
et irruerunt Sabaei, tuleruntque omnia, et pueros percusserunt gladio : et evasi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi.
ወሀለዉ፡ እስከ፡ ይእቲ፡ ዕለት፡ ደቂቁ፡ ወአዋልዲሁ፡ ለኢዮብ፡ ይበልዑ፡ ወይሰትዩ፡ በቤተ፡ እኁሆሙ፡ ዘይልህቅ።
and the Sabeans attacked, and took them away. Yes, they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
1:16
ע֣וֹד׀ זֶ֣ה מְדַבֵּ֗ר וְזֶה֮ בָּ֣א וַיֹּאמַר֒ אֵ֣שׁ אֱלֹהִ֗ים נָֽפְלָה֙ מִן־הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַתִּבְעַ֥ר בַּצֹּ֛אן וּבַנְּעָרִ֖ים וַתֹּֽאכְלֵ֑ם וָאִמָּ֨לְטָ֧ה רַק־אֲנִ֛י לְבַדִּ֖י לְהַגִּ֥יד לָֽךְ׃
ἔτι τούτου λαλοῦντος ἦλθεν ἕτερος ἄγγελος καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Ιωβ πῦρ ἔπεσεν ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ κατέκαυσεν τὰ πρόβατα καὶ τοὺς ποιμένας κατέφαγεν ὁμοίως καὶ σωθεὶς ἐγὼ μόνος ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγεῖλαί σοι
Cumque adhuc ille loqueretur, venit alter, et dixit : Ignis Dei cecidit e caelo, et tactas oves puerosque consumpsit : et effugi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi.
ወመጽአ፡ ዘይዜንዎ፡ ለኢዮብ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ጽምደ፡ አልሕምቲክ፡ እንዘ፡ የሐርሱ፡ ወአእዱጊከኒ፡ አእኑስ፡ እንዘ፡ ይትረዐያ፡ ጥቃሆሙ፡፡
While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God has fallen from the sky, and has burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
1:17
ע֣וֹד׀ זֶ֣ה מְדַבֵּ֗ר וְזֶה֮ בָּ֣א וַיֹּאמַר֒ כַּשְׂדִּ֞ים שָׂ֣מוּ׀ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה רָאשִׁ֗ים וַֽיִּפְשְׁט֤וּ עַל־הַגְּמַלִּים֙ וַיִּקָּח֔וּם וְאֶת־הַנְּעָרִ֖ים הִכּ֣וּ לְפִי־חָ֑רֶב וָאִמָּ֨לְטָ֧ה רַק־אֲנִ֛י לְבַדִּ֖י לְהַגִּ֥יד לָֽךְ׃
ἔτι τούτου λαλοῦντος ἦλθεν ἕτερος ἄγγελος καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Ιωβ οἱ ἱππεῖς ἐποίησαν ἡμῖν κεφαλὰς τρεῖς καὶ ἐκύκλωσαν τὰς καμήλους καὶ ᾐχμαλώτευσαν αὐτὰς καὶ τοὺς παῖδας ἀπέκτειναν ἐν μαχαίραις ἐσώθην δὲ ἐγὼ μόνος καὶ ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγεῖλαί σοι
Sed et illo adhuc loquente, venit alius, et dixit : Chaldaei fecerunt tres turmas, et invaserunt camelos, et tulerunt eos, necnon et pueros percusserunt gladio : et ego fugi solus, ut nuntiarem tibi.
መጽኡ፡ እለ፡ ይፄውዉ፡ ወማህረክዎሙ፡ ወቀተሉ፡ ደቀክ፡ በመጥባሕት፡ ወአነ፡ ባሕቲትየ፡ ድኅንኩ፡ ወመጻእኩ፡ አዜኑከ።
While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The Chaldeans made three bands, and swept down on the camels, and have taken them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
1:18
עַ֚ד זֶ֣ה מְדַבֵּ֔ר וְזֶ֖ה בָּ֣א וַיֹּאמַ֑ר בָּנֶ֨יךָ וּבְנוֹתֶ֤יךָ אֹֽכְלִים֙ וְשֹׁתִ֣ים יַ֔יִן בְּבֵ֖ית אֲחִיהֶ֥ם הַבְּכֽוֹר׃
ἔτι τούτου λαλοῦντος ἄλλος ἄγγελος ἔρχεται λέγων τῷ Ιωβ τῶν υἱῶν σου καὶ τῶν θυγατέρων σου ἐσθιόντων καὶ πινόντων παρὰ τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτῶν τῷ πρεσβυτέρῳ
Adhuc loquebatur ille, et ecce alius intravit, et dixit : Filiis tuis et filiabus vescentibus et bibentibus vinum in domo fratris sui primogeniti,
ወእንዘ፡ ዘንተ፡ ይዜንዎ፡ ውእቱ፡ ለኢዮብ፡ መጽአ፡ ከልእ፡ ዘይዜንዎ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ለኢዮብ፡ እሳት፡ ወድቀት፡ እምሰማይ፡ ወአውዓየት፡ አባግዒከ፡ ወበልዓቶሙ፡ ለኖሎትከሂ፡ ኅቡረ፡ ወአነ፡ ባሕቲትየ፡ ድኅንኰ፡ ወመጻእኩ፡ እዜኑከ።
While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, “Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,
1:19
וְהִנֵּה֩ ר֨וּחַ גְּדוֹלָ֜ה בָּ֣אָה׀ מֵעֵ֣בֶר הַמִּדְבָּ֗ר וַיִּגַּע֙ בְּאַרְבַּע֙ פִּנּ֣וֹת הַבַּ֔יִת וַיִּפֹּ֥ל עַל־הַנְּעָרִ֖ים וַיָּמ֑וּתוּ וָאִמָּ֨לְטָ֧ה רַק־אֲנִ֛י לְבַדִּ֖י לְהַגִּ֥יד לָֽךְ׃
ἐξαίφνης πνεῦμα μέγα ἐπῆλθεν ἐκ τῆς ἐρήμου καὶ ἥψατο τῶν τεσσάρων γωνιῶν τῆς οἰκίας καὶ ἔπεσεν ἡ οἰκία ἐπὶ τὰ παιδία σου καὶ ἐτελεύτησαν ἐσώθην δὲ ἐγὼ μόνος καὶ ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγεῖλαί σοι
repente ventus vehemens irruit a regione deserti, et concussit quatuor angulos domus : quae corruens oppressit liberos tuos, et mortui sunt : et effugi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi.
ወአንዘ፡ ዘንተ፡ ይዜንዎ፡ ለኢዮብ፡ ውእቱ፡ መጽአ፡ ሣልስ፡ ዘይዜንዎ፡ ለኢዮብ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ መስተፅዕናነ፡ አፍራስ፡ ወሠላስቱ፡ ሠራዊት፡ ብዙኃን፡ ዓገቱ፡ ወማሀረኩ፡ አግማሊክ፡ ወአል፡ ሕምቲክ፡ ወቀተሉ፡ ደቀከ፡ በመጥባሕት፡ ወአነ፡ ባሕቲትየ፡ ድኅንኩ፡ ወመጻእኩ፡ እዜኑከ።
and behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young men, and they are dead. I alone have escaped to tell you.”
1:20
וַיָּ֤קׇם אִיּוֹב֙ וַיִּקְרַ֣ע אֶת־מְעִל֔וֹ וַיָּ֖גׇז אֶת־רֹאשׁ֑וֹ וַיִּפֹּ֥ל אַ֖רְצָה וַיִּשְׁתָּֽחוּ׃
οὕτως ἀναστὰς Ιωβ διέρρηξεν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκείρατο τὴν κόμην τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ καὶ πεσὼν χαμαὶ προσεκύνησεν καὶ εἶπεν
Tunc surrexit Job, et scidit vestimenta sua : et tonso capite corruens in terram, adoravit,
ወእንዘ፡ ዘንተ፡ ይነግሮ፡ መጽአ፡ ራብዕ፡ ዘይዜንዎ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ለኢዮብ፡ ደቂቅከሰ፡ ወአዋልዲከ፡ እንዘ፡ ይበልሁ፡ ወይሰትዩ፡ በቤተ፡ እኁሆሙ፡ ዘይልሀቅ፡ ግብተ፡ መጽአ፡ ዓቢይ፡ ነፋስ፡ እምገዳም፡ ወጐድኦ፡ ለቤት፡ እንተ፡ አርባዕቱ፡ መዓዛኒሁ፡፡
Then Job arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshiped.
1:21
וַיֹּ֩אמֶר֩ עָרֹ֨ם יָצָ֜תִי מִבֶּ֣טֶן אִמִּ֗י וְעָרֹם֙ אָשׁ֣וּב שָׁ֔מָּה יְהֹוָ֣ה נָתַ֔ן וַֽיהֹוָ֖ה לָקָ֑ח יְהִ֛י שֵׁ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה מְבֹרָֽךְ׃
αὐτὸς γυμνὸς ἐξῆλθον ἐκ κοιλίας μητρός μου γυμνὸς καὶ ἀπελεύσομαι ἐκεῖ ὁ κύριος ἔδωκεν ὁ κύριος ἀφείλατο ὡς τῷ κυρίῳ ἔδοξεν οὕτως καὶ ἐγένετο εἴη τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου εὐλογημένον
et dixit : Nudus egressus sum de utero matris meae, et nudus revertar illuc. Dominus dedit, Dominus abstulit ; sicut Domino placuit, ita factum est. Sit nomen Domini benedictum.
ወወድቀ፡ ቤት፡ ዲበ፡ ደቂቅከ፡ ወአዋልዲከ፡ ወሞቱ፡ ወአነ፡ ባሕቲትየ፡ ድኅንኰ፡ ወመጻእኩ፡ እዜኑከ።
He said, “Naked I came out of my mother’s womb, and naked will I return there. Yahweh gave, and Yahweh has taken away. Blessed be Yahweh’s name.”
1:22
בְּכׇל־זֹ֖את לֹא־חָטָ֣א אִיּ֑וֹב וְלֹא־נָתַ֥ן תִּפְלָ֖ה לֵאלֹהִֽים׃ {פ}
ἐν τούτοις πᾶσιν τοῖς συμβεβηκόσιν αὐτῷ οὐδὲν ἥμαρτεν Ιωβ ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκεν ἀφροσύνην τῷ θεῷ
In omnibus his non peccavit Job labiis suis, neque stultum quid contra Deum locutus est.
ወእምዝ፡ ሶበ፡ ሰምዐ፡ ኢዮብ፡ ዘንተ፡ ነገረ፡ ተንሥአ፡ ኢዮብ፡ ወሰጠጠ፡ አልባሲሁ፡ ወላጸየ፡ ሥዕርተ፡ ርእሱ፡ ወወድቀ፡ ዲበ፡ ምድር፡ ወሰገደ፡፡ 23፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ዕራቅየ፡ ወፃእኩ፡ እምከርሠ፡ እምየ፡ ወዕራቅየ፡ አገበእ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወሀበ፡ ወእግዚአብሔር፡ ነሥአ፡ ወኮነ፡ ከመ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ፈቀደ፡ ወባሕቱ፡ ይኰን፡ ቡሩከ፡ ስሙ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር።
In all this, Job didn’t sin, nor charge God with wrongdoing.
