ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.

1:1
There was a certain man in the land of Ausitis whose name was Job; and that man was true, blameless, righteous, god-fearing, abstaining from every evil thing.
And there were born to him seven sons and three daughters.
And his livestock were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred grazing she-asses, and very many servants; and he had great works upon the earth, and that man was noble among those from the rising of the sun.
And his sons would go to one another and hold a feast each day, taking along with them also their three sisters to eat and drink with them.
And when the days of the feast were completed, Job would send and purify them, rising up early in the morning, and he would offer sacrifices for them according to their number, and one calf as a sin offering for their souls; for Job said, "Perhaps my sons have thought evil things toward God in their minds." Thus then Job did all the days.
And when that day came, behold, the angels of God came to stand before the Lord, and the devil came with them.
And the Lord said to the devil, "Where have you come from?" And the devil answered the Lord and said, "I have come from going about the earth and walking through what is under heaven."
And the Lord said to him, "Have you given attention in your mind to my servant Job? For there is no man on the earth like him: blameless, true, god-fearing, abstaining from every evil thing."
And the devil answered and said before the Lord, "Does Job revere God for nothing?"
Have you not fenced in what is outside him, and what is inside his house, and what is outside all that he has round about? You have blessed the works of his hands and have made his livestock many upon the earth.
But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has — surely he will bless you to your face.
Then the Lord said to the devil, "Behold, all that is his I give into your hand, but him you shall not touch." And the devil went out from the Lord.
And it was on that day that Job's sons and his daughters were drinking wine in the house of their elder brother.
And behold, a messenger came to Job and said to him, "The yoke of oxen were plowing, and the she-asses were feeding beside them;
看哪,有一個報信的來到約伯那裡,對他說:牛隊正在耕田,母驢在牠們旁邊吃草;
1:15
and raiders came and carried them off, and killed the servants with swords; but I alone escaped and have come to report to you."
While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said to Job, "Fire fell from heaven and burned up the sheep, and likewise devoured the shepherds; and I alone escaped and have come to report to you."
While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said to Job, "The horsemen formed three companies against us, and surrounded the camels and carried them off, and killed the servants with swords; but I alone escaped and have come to report to you."
While he was still speaking, another messenger comes, saying to Job, "While your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking at their elder brother's,
suddenly a great wind came from the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and the house fell upon your children and they died; but I alone escaped and have come to report to you."
Then Job rose up and tore his garments and shaved the hair of his head, and falling to the ground he worshiped and said:
"I myself came forth naked from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, the Lord has taken away; as it seemed good to the Lord, so also it came to pass. May the name of the Lord be blessed."
In all these things that befell him Job did not sin before the Lord, nor did he ascribe folly to God.
