2:1
וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח יְהוֹשֻֽׁעַ־בִּן־נ֠וּן מִֽן־הַשִּׁטִּ֞ים שְׁנַֽיִם־אֲנָשִׁ֤ים מְרַגְּלִים֙ חֶ֣רֶשׁ לֵאמֹ֔ר לְכ֛וּ רְא֥וּ אֶת־הָאָ֖רֶץ וְאֶת־יְרִיח֑וֹ וַיֵּ֨לְכ֜וּ וַ֠יָּבֹ֠אוּ בֵּית־אִשָּׁ֥ה זוֹנָ֛ה וּשְׁמָ֥הּ רָחָ֖ב וַיִּשְׁכְּבוּ־שָֽׁמָּה׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ἰησοῦς υἱὸς Ναυη ἐκ Σαττιν δύο νεανίσκους κατασκοπεῦσαι λέγων ἀνάβητε καὶ ἴδετε τὴν γῆν καὶ τὴν Ιεριχω καὶ πορευθέντες εἰσήλθοσαν οἱ δύο νεανίσκοι εἰς Ιεριχω καὶ εἰσήλθοσαν εἰς οἰκίαν γυναικὸς πόρνης ᾗ ὄνομα Ρααβ καὶ κατέλυσαν ἐκεῖ
Misit igitur Josue filius Nun de Setim duos viros exploratores in abscondito : et dixit eis : Ite, et considerate terram, urbemque Jericho. Qui pergentes ingressi sunt domum mulieris meretricis, nomine Rahab, et quieverunt apud eam.
ወፈነወ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ እምነ ፡ ሳጢን ፡ ክልኤተ ፡ ወራዙተ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ዐይን ፡ ጽምሚተ ፡ ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ዕረጉ ፡ ወርእይዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወለኢያሪኮሂ ፡ ወሖሩ ፡ እልክቱ ፡ ክልኤቱ ፡ ወራዙት ፡ ወቦኡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኢያሪኮ ፡ ወቦኡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ አሐቲ ፡ ብእሲት ፡ ዘማ ፡ እንተ ፡ ስማ ፡ ራአብ ፡ ወኀደሩ ፡ ህየ ።
Joshua the son of Nun secretly sent two men out of Shittim as spies, saying, “Go, view the land, including Jericho.” They went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and slept there.
2:2
וַיֵּ֣אָמַ֔ר לְמֶ֥לֶךְ יְרִיח֖וֹ לֵאמֹ֑ר הִנֵּ֣ה אֲ֠נָשִׁ֠ים בָּ֣אוּ הֵ֧נָּה הַלַּ֛יְלָה מִבְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לַחְפֹּ֥ר אֶת־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
καὶ ἀπηγγέλη τῷ βασιλεῖ Ιεριχω λέγοντες εἰσπεπόρευνται ὧδε ἄνδρες τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ κατασκοπεῦσαι τὴν γῆν
Nuntiatumque est regi Jericho, et dictum : Ecce viri ingressi sunt huc per noctem de filiis Israël, ut explorarent terram.
ወአይድዕዎ ፡ ለንጉሠ ፡ ኢያሪኮ ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ናሁ ፡ ቦኡ ፡ ዝየ ፡ ዕደው ፡ በሌሊት ፡ እምነ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ዐይን ፡ ከመ ፡ ይርአዩ ፡ ብሔረ ።
The king of Jericho was told, “Behold, men of the children of Israel came in here tonight to spy out the land.”
2:3
וַיִּשְׁלַח֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְרִיח֔וֹ אֶל־רָחָ֖ב לֵאמֹ֑ר ה֠וֹצִ֠יאִי הָאֲנָשִׁ֨ים הַבָּאִ֤ים אֵלַ֙יִךְ֙ אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֣אוּ לְבֵיתֵ֔ךְ כִּ֛י לַחְפֹּ֥ר אֶת־כׇּל־הָאָ֖רֶץ בָּֽאוּ׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ιεριχω καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Ρααβ λέγων ἐξάγαγε τοὺς ἄνδρας τοὺς εἰσπεπορευμένους εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν σου τὴν νύκτα κατασκοπεῦσαι γὰρ τὴν γῆν ἥκασιν
Misitque rex Jericho ad Rahab, dicens : Educ viros, qui venerunt ad te, et ingressi sunt domum tuam : exploratores quippe sunt, et omnem terram considerare venerunt.
ወለአከ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ኢያሪኮ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ራአብ ፡ ወይቤ ፡ በልዋ ፡ ለራአብ ፡ አውፅኢአ ፡ ዕደወአ ፡ እለአ ፡ ቦኡአ ፡ ኀቤኪአ ፡ በሌሊትአ ፡ ወቦኡአ ፡ ቤተኪአ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ዐይንአ ፡ እሙንቱአ ፡ ወከመአ ፡ ይርአዩአ ፡ ብሔረአ ፡ መጽኡአ ።
Jericho’s king sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered into your house; for they have come to spy out all the land.”
2:4
וַתִּקַּ֧ח הָאִשָּׁ֛ה אֶת־שְׁנֵ֥י הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים וַֽתִּצְפְּנ֑וֹ וַתֹּ֣אמֶר׀ כֵּ֗ן בָּ֤אוּ אֵלַי֙ הָאֲנָשִׁ֔ים וְלֹ֥א יָדַ֖עְתִּי מֵאַ֥יִן הֵֽמָּה׃
καὶ λαβοῦσα ἡ γυνὴ τοὺς ἄνδρας ἔκρυψεν αὐτοὺς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς λέγουσα εἰσεληλύθασιν πρός με οἱ ἄνδρες
Tollensque mulier viros, abscondit, et ait : Fateor, venerunt ad me, sed nesciebam unde essent :
ወነሥአቶሙ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ብእሲት ፡ ለእልክቱ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ክልኤቱ ፡ ወኀብአቶሙ ፡ ወትቤ ፡ ዕደውሰ ፡ ቦኡ ፡ ኀቤየ ፡ ወኢያእመርኩ ፡ እምአይቴ ፡ እሙንቱ ።
The woman took the two men and hid them. Then she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I didn’t know where they came from.
2:5
וַיְהִ֨י הַשַּׁ֜עַר לִסְגּ֗וֹר בַּחֹ֙שֶׁךְ֙ וְהָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים יָצָ֔אוּ לֹ֣א יָדַ֔עְתִּי אָ֥נָה הָלְכ֖וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֑ים רִדְפ֥וּ מַהֵ֛ר אַחֲרֵיהֶ֖ם כִּ֥י תַשִּׂיגֽוּם׃
ὡς δὲ ἡ πύλη ἐκλείετο ἐν τῷ σκότει καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες ἐξῆλθον οὐκ ἐπίσταμαι ποῦ πεπόρευνται καταδιώξατε ὀπίσω αὐτῶν εἰ καταλήμψεσθε αὐτούς
cumque porta clauderetur in tenebris, et illi pariter exierunt ; nescio quo abierunt : persequimini cito, et comprehendetis eos.
ወእንዘ ፡ ዕጽው ፡ ኆኅት ፡ በጽልመት ፡ ወፅኡ ፡ ውእቶሙ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ወኢያእመርኩ ፡ እንከ ፡ አይቴ ፡ ሖሩ ፡ ውእቶሙ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ወሑሩ ፡ ፍጡነ ፡ ወትልውዎሙ ፡ ወዴግንዎሙ ፡ ዮጊ ፡ ትረክብዎሙ ።
About the time of the shutting of the gate, when it was dark, the men went out. Where the men went, I don’t know. Pursue them quickly. You may catch up with them.”
2:6
וְהִ֖יא הֶעֱלָ֣תַם הַגָּ֑גָה וַֽתִּטְמְנֵם֙ בְּפִשְׁתֵּ֣י הָעֵ֔ץ הָעֲרֻכ֥וֹת לָ֖הּ עַל־הַגָּֽג׃
αὐτὴ δὲ ἀνεβίβασεν αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ τὸ δῶμα καὶ ἔκρυψεν αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ λινοκαλάμῃ τῇ ἐστοιβασμένῃ αὐτῇ ἐπὶ τοῦ δώματος
Ipsa autem fecit ascendere viros in solarium domus suae, operuitque eos stipula lini, quae ibi erat.
ወይእቲሰ ፡ አዕረገቶሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ናሕስ ፡ ወኀብአቶሙ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ዕፀው ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሕለት ፡ ዘውጡሕ ።
But she had brought them up to the roof, and hidden them under the stalks of flax which she had laid in order on the roof.
2:7
וְהָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים רָדְפ֤וּ אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם֙ דֶּ֣רֶךְ הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן עַ֖ל הַֽמַּעְבְּר֑וֹת וְהַשַּׁ֣עַר סָגָ֔רוּ אַחֲרֵ֕י כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר יָצְא֥וּ הָרֹדְפִ֖ים אַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃
καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες κατεδίωξαν ὀπίσω αὐτῶν ὁδὸν τὴν ἐπὶ τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἐπὶ τὰς διαβάσεις καὶ ἡ πύλη ἐκλείσθη καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἐξήλθοσαν οἱ διώκοντες ὀπίσω αὐτῶν
Hi autem, qui missi fuerant, secuti sunt eos per viam, quae ducit ad vadum Jordanis : illisque egressis statim porta clausa est.
ወዴገንዎሙ ፡ ውእቶሙ ፡ [ዕደው ፡] እንበለ ፡ ይቢቱ ፡ ወይእቲሰ ፡ ዐርገት ፡ ኀቤሆሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ናሕስ ።
The men pursued them along the way to the fords of the Jordan River. As soon as those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate.
2:8
וְהֵ֖מָּה טֶ֣רֶם יִשְׁכָּב֑וּן וְהִ֛יא עָלְתָ֥ה עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם עַל־הַגָּֽג׃
καὶ αὐτοὶ δὲ πρὶν ἢ κοιμηθῆναι αὐτούς καὶ αὐτὴ ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὸ δῶμα πρὸς αὐτοὺς
Necdum obdormierant qui latebant, et ecce mulier ascendit ad eos, et ait :
ወትቤሎሙ ፡ አአምር ፡ ከመ ፡ አግብኦ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለብሔር ፡ ለክሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ አምጽአ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ፍርሀተክሙ ፡ ላዕሌነ ፡ ወተመስው ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ብሔር ፡ እምነ ፡ ገጽክሙ ።
Before they had lain down, she came up to them on the roof.
2:9
וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֶל־הָ֣אֲנָשִׁ֔ים יָדַ֕עְתִּי כִּֽי־נָתַ֧ן יְהֹוָ֛ה לָכֶ֖ם אֶת־הָאָ֑רֶץ וְכִֽי־נָפְלָ֤ה אֵֽימַתְכֶם֙ עָלֵ֔ינוּ וְכִ֥י נָמֹ֛גוּ כׇּל־יֹשְׁבֵ֥י הָאָ֖רֶץ מִפְּנֵיכֶֽם׃
καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς ἐπίσταμαι ὅτι δέδωκεν ὑμῖν κύριος τὴν γῆν ἐπιπέπτωκεν γὰρ ὁ φόβος ὑμῶν ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς
Novi quod Dominus tradiderit vobis terram : etenim irruit in nos terror vester, et elanguerunt omnes habitatores terrae.
እስመ ፡ ሰማዕነ ፡ ከመ ፡ አይበሳ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለባሕረ ፡ [ኤ]ርትራ ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጽክሙ ፡ አመ ፡ ወፃእክሙ ፡ እምነ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዘገብረ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ነገሥተ ፡ አሞሬዎን ፡ እለ ፡ ሀለው ፡ ማዕዶተ ፡ ዮርዳንስ ፡ ለሴዎን ፡ ወለአግ ፡ እለ ፡ ሠሮክምዎሙ ።
She said to the men, “I know that Yahweh has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.
2:10
כִּ֣י שָׁמַ֗עְנוּ אֵ֠ת אֲשֶׁר־הוֹבִ֨ישׁ יְהֹוָ֜ה אֶת־מֵ֤י יַם־סוּף֙ מִפְּנֵיכֶ֔ם בְּצֵאתְכֶ֖ם מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר עֲשִׂיתֶ֡ם לִשְׁנֵי֩ מַלְכֵ֨י הָאֱמֹרִ֜י אֲשֶׁ֨ר בְּעֵ֤בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן֙ לְסִיחֹ֣ן וּלְע֔וֹג אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֶחֱרַמְתֶּ֖ם אוֹתָֽם׃
ἀκηκόαμεν γὰρ ὅτι κατεξήρανεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τὴν ἐρυθρὰν θάλασσαν ἀπὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν ὅτε ἐξεπορεύεσθε ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου καὶ ὅσα ἐποίησεν τοῖς δυσὶ βασιλεῦσιν τῶν Αμορραίων οἳ ἦσαν πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου τῷ Σηων καὶ Ωγ οὓς ἐξωλεθρεύσατε αὐτούς
Audivimus quod siccaverit Dominus aquas maris Rubri ad vestrum introitum, quando egressi estis ex Aegypto : et quae feceritis duobus Amorrhaeorum regibus, qui erant trans Jordanem, Sehon et Og, quos interfecistis.
ወሶበ ፡ ሰማዕነ ፡ ንሕነ ፡ ደንገፀነ ፡ ልብነ ፡ ወኢተርፈት ፡ ነፍሰ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ እምኔነ ፡ እምነ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ገጽክሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክክሙ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ አምላክ ፡ በሰማይ ፡ በላዕሉ ፡ ወበምድር ፡ በታሕቱ ።
For we have heard how Yahweh dried up the water of the Red Sea before you, when you came out of Egypt; and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and to Og, whom you utterly destroyed.
2:11
וַנִּשְׁמַע֙ וַיִּמַּ֣ס לְבָבֵ֔נוּ וְלֹא־קָ֨מָה ע֥וֹד ר֛וּחַ בְּאִ֖ישׁ מִפְּנֵיכֶ֑ם כִּ֚י יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֔ם ה֤וּא אֱלֹהִים֙ בַּשָּׁמַ֣יִם מִמַּ֔עַל וְעַל־הָאָ֖רֶץ מִתָּֽחַת׃
καὶ ἀκούσαντες ἡμεῖς ἐξέστημεν τῇ καρδίᾳ ἡμῶν καὶ οὐκ ἔστη ἔτι πνεῦμα ἐν οὐδενὶ ἡμῶν ἀπὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν ὅτι κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν θεὸς ἐν οὐρανῷ ἄνω καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς κάτω
Et haec audientes pertimuimus, et elanguit cor nostrum, nec remansit in nobis spiritus ad introitum vestrum : Dominus enim Deus vester ipse est Deus in caelo sursum et in terra deorsum.
ወይእዜኒ ፡ መሐሉ ፡ ሊተ ፡ በእግዚአብሔር ፡ በከመ ፡ ገበርኩ ፡ ምስሌክሙ ፡ ምሕረተ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትግበሩ ፡ ምስሌየ ፡ ምሕረተ ፡ ወምስለ ፡ ቤተ ፡ አቡየ ፡ ወትሁቡኒ ፡ ተአምረ ፡ በጽድቅ ።
As soon as we had heard it, our hearts melted, and there wasn’t any more spirit in any man, because of you: for Yahweh your God, he is God in heaven above, and on earth beneath.
2:12
וְעַתָּ֗ה הִשָּֽׁבְעוּ־נָ֥א לִי֙ בַּֽיהֹוָ֔ה כִּֽי־עָשִׂ֥יתִי עִמָּכֶ֖ם חָ֑סֶד וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֨ם גַּם־אַתֶּ֜ם עִם־בֵּ֤ית אָבִי֙ חֶ֔סֶד וּנְתַתֶּ֥ם לִ֖י א֥וֹת אֱמֶֽת׃
καὶ νῦν ὀμόσατέ μοι κύριον τὸν θεόν ὅτι ποιῶ ὑμῖν ἔλεος καὶ ποιήσετε καὶ ὑμεῖς ἔλεος ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρός μου
Nunc ergo jurate mihi per Dominum, ut quomodo ego misericordiam feci vobiscum, ita et vos faciatis cum domo patris mei : detisque mihi verum signum,
ወአሕይው ፡ ቤተ ፡ አቡየ ፡ ወእምየኒ ፡ ወአኀዊየኒ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ቤትየ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዘዚአሆሙ ፡ ወአድኅኑ ፡ ነፍሰነ ፡ እምነ ፡ ሞት ።
Now therefore, please swear to me by Yahweh, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s house, and give me a true sign;
2:13
וְהַחֲיִתֶ֞ם אֶת־אָבִ֣י וְאֶת־אִמִּ֗י וְאֶת־אַחַי֙ וְאֶת־[אַחְיוֹתַ֔י] (אחותי) וְאֵ֖ת כׇּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָהֶ֑ם וְהִצַּלְתֶּ֥ם אֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵ֖ינוּ מִמָּֽוֶת׃
καὶ ζωγρήσετε τὸν οἶκον τοῦ πατρός μου καὶ τὴν μητέρα μου καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφούς μου καὶ πάντα τὸν οἶκόν μου καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἐστὶν αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐξελεῖσθε τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐκ θανάτου
ut salvetis patrem meum et matrem, et fratres ac sorores meas, et omnia quae illorum sunt, et eruatis animas nostras a morte.
ወይቤልዋ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ነፍስነ ፡ ህየንቴክሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሞት ፡ ወትቤሎሙ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ አመ ፡ አግብአ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሀገርነ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እደዊክሙ ፡ ግበሩ ፡ ምሕረተ ፡ ምስሌየ ፡ ወጽድቀ ፡ ወይቤልዋ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ለእመ ፡ ኢያይዳዕክሙ ፡ በእንቲአነ ፡ ንገብር ፡ ምሕረተ ፡ ምስሌኪ ፡ አመ ፡ አግብአ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሀገርክሙ ፡ ለነ ፡ ወጽድቀ ።
and that you will save alive my father, my mother, my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and will deliver our lives from death.”
2:14
וַיֹּ֧אמְרוּ לָ֣הּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים נַפְשֵׁ֤נוּ תַחְתֵּיכֶם֙ לָמ֔וּת אִ֚ם לֹ֣א תַגִּ֔ידוּ אֶת־דְּבָרֵ֖נוּ זֶ֑ה וְהָיָ֗ה בְּתֵת־יְהֹוָ֥ה לָ֙נוּ֙ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ וְעָשִׂ֥ינוּ עִמָּ֖ךְ חֶ֥סֶד וֶאֱמֶֽת׃
καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῇ οἱ ἄνδρες ἡ ψυχὴ ἡμῶν ἀνθ’ ὑμῶν εἰς θάνατον καὶ αὐτὴ εἶπεν ὡς ἂν παραδῷ κύριος ὑμῖν τὴν πόλιν ποιήσετε εἰς ἐμὲ ἔλεος καὶ ἀλήθειαν
Qui responderunt ei : Anima nostra sit pro vobis in mortem, si tamen non prodideris nos : cumque tradiderit nobis Dominus terram, faciemus in te misericordiam et veritatem.
ወአውረደቶሙ ፡ በሐብል ፡ እንተ ፡ መስኮት ፡ እስመ ፡ ቤታ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ጥቅም ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወነበረት ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አረፍቱ ።
The men said to her, “Our life for yours, if you don’t talk about this business of ours; and it shall be, when Yahweh gives us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.”
2:15
וַתּוֹרִדֵ֥ם בַּחֶ֖בֶל בְּעַ֣ד הַחַלּ֑וֹן כִּ֤י בֵיתָהּ֙ בְּקִ֣יר הַחוֹמָ֔ה וּבַחוֹמָ֖ה הִ֥יא יוֹשָֽׁבֶת׃
καὶ κατεχάλασεν αὐτοὺς διὰ τῆς θυρίδος
Demisit ergo eos per funem de fenestra : domus enim ejus haerebat muro.
ወትቤሎሙ ፡ እንተ ፡ አድባር ፡ ሑሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይርከቡክሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ይዴግኑክሙ ፡ ወተኀብኡ ፡ ህየ ፡ ሠሉሰ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ እስከ ፡ ይገብኡ ፡ እለ ፡ ይዴግኑክሙ ፡ ወእምዝ ፡ ትገብኡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ፍኖትክሙ ።
Then she let them down by a cord through the window; for her house was on the side of the wall, and she lived on the wall.
2:16
וַתֹּ֤אמֶר לָהֶם֙ הָהָ֣רָה לֵּ֔כוּ פֶּֽן־יִפְגְּע֥וּ בָכֶ֖ם הָרֹֽדְפִ֑ים וְנַחְבֵּתֶ֨ם שָׁ֜מָּה שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת יָמִ֗ים עַ֚ד שׁ֣וֹב הָרֹֽדְפִ֔ים וְאַחַ֖ר תֵּלְכ֥וּ לְדַרְכְּכֶֽם׃
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς εἰς τὴν ὀρεινὴν ἀπέλθετε μὴ συναντήσωσιν ὑμῖν οἱ καταδιώκοντες καὶ κρυβήσεσθε ἐκεῖ τρεῖς ἡμέρας ἕως ἂν ἀποστρέψωσιν οἱ καταδιώκοντες ὀπίσω ὑμῶν καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἀπελεύσεσθε εἰς τὴν ὁδὸν ὑμῶν
Dixitque ad eos : Ad montana conscendite, ne forte occurrant vobis revertentes : ibique latitate tribus diebus, donec redeant, et sic ibitis per viam vestram.
ወይቤልዋ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ንጹሓን ፡ ንሕነ ፡ እምነ ፡ መሐላኪ ፡ ዘአምሐልክነ ።
She said to them, “Go to the mountain, lest the pursuers find you. Hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers have returned. Afterward, you may go your way.”
2:17
וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ אֵלֶ֖יהָ הָאֲנָשִׁ֑ים נְקִיִּ֣ם אֲנַ֔חְנוּ מִשְּׁבֻעָתֵ֥ךְ הַזֶּ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִשְׁבַּעְתָּֽנוּ׃
καὶ εἶπαν οἱ ἄνδρες πρὸς αὐτήν ἀθῷοί ἐσμεν τῷ ὅρκῳ σου τούτῳ
Qui dixerunt ad eam : Innoxii erimus a juramento hoc, quo adjurasti nos :
ናሁ ፡ ንሕነ ፡ ንበውእ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ጽንፈ ፡ ህገር ፡ ወደዪ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ፈትለ ፡ ቀይሐ ፡ ዘለይ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መስኮት ፡ እንተ ፡ እምኔሃ ፡ አውረድክነ ፡ ወአ[ባ]ኪኒ ፡ ወእ[መ]ኪኒ ፡ ወአኀዊኪኒ ፡ አስተጋብኢ ፡ ኀቤኪ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤትኪ ።
The men said to her, “We will be guiltless of this your oath which you’ve made us to swear.
2:18
הִנֵּ֛ה אֲנַ֥חְנוּ בָאִ֖ים בָּאָ֑רֶץ אֶת־תִּקְוַ֡ת חוּט֩ הַשָּׁנִ֨י הַזֶּ֜ה תִּקְשְׁרִ֗י בַּֽחַלּוֹן֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הוֹרַדְתֵּ֣נוּ ב֔וֹ וְאֶת־אָבִ֨יךְ וְאֶת־אִמֵּ֜ךְ וְאֶת־אַחַ֗יִךְ וְאֵת֙ כׇּל־בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֔יךְ תַּאַסְפִ֥י אֵלַ֖יִךְ הַבָּֽיְתָה׃
ἰδοὺ ἡμεῖς εἰσπορευόμεθα εἰς μέρος τῆς πόλεως καὶ θήσεις τὸ σημεῖον τὸ σπαρτίον τὸ κόκκινον τοῦτο ἐκδήσεις εἰς τὴν θυρίδα δῑ ἧς κατεβίβασας ἡμᾶς δῑ αὐτῆς τὸν δὲ πατέρα σου καὶ τὴν μητέρα σου καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου καὶ πάντα τὸν οἶκον τοῦ πατρός σου συνάξεις πρὸς σεαυτὴν εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν σου
si ingredientibus nobis terram, signum fuerit funiculus iste coccineus, et ligaveris eum in fenestra, per quam demisisti nos : et patrem tuum ac matrem, fratresque et omnem cognationem tuam congregaveris in domum tuam.
ወኵሉ ፡ ዘወፅአ ፡ አፍአ ፡ እምነ ፡ ኆኅተ ፡ ቤትኪ ፡ ይመውት ፡ ወንሕነሰ ፡ ንጹሓን ፡ ንሕነ ፡ እምነ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ መሐላ ፡ ዘአምሐልክነ ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ባሕቱ ፡ ዘሀለወ ፡ ምስሌኪ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤትኪ ፡ ላዕሌነ ፡ ኀጢአቱ ፡ ለእመ ፡ ሞተ ።
Behold, when we come into the land, tie this line of scarlet thread in the window which you used to let us down. Gather to yourself into the house your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household.
2:19
וְהָיָ֡ה כֹּ֣ל אֲשֶׁר־יֵצֵא֩ מִדַּלְתֵ֨י בֵיתֵ֧ךְ׀הַח֛וּצָה דָּמ֥וֹ בְרֹאשׁ֖וֹ וַאֲנַ֣חְנוּ נְקִיִּ֑ם וְ֠כֹ֠ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִֽהְיֶ֤ה אִתָּךְ֙ בַּבַּ֔יִת דָּמ֣וֹ בְרֹאשֵׁ֔נוּ אִם־יָ֖ד תִּֽהְיֶה־בּֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἔσται πᾶς ὃς ἂν ἐξέλθῃ τὴν θύραν τῆς οἰκίας σου ἔξω ἔνοχος ἑαυτῷ ἔσται ἡμεῖς δὲ ἀθῷοι τῷ ὅρκῳ σου τούτῳ καὶ ὅσοι ἐὰν γένωνται μετὰ σοῦ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ σου ἡμεῖς ἔνοχοι ἐσόμεθα
Qui ostium domus tuae egressus fuerit, sanguis ipsius erit in caput ejus, et nos erimus alieni. Cunctorum autem sanguis, qui tecum in domo fuerint, redundabit in caput nostrum, si eos aliquis tetigerit.
ወለእመሰ ፡ ቦ ፡ ዘገፍዐነ ፡ ወከሠተ ፡ ነገረነ ፡ ንጹሓን ፡ ንሕነ ፡ እምነ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ መሐላኪ ።
It shall be that whoever goes out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood will be on his head, and we will be guiltless. Whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand is on him.
2:20
וְאִם־תַּגִּ֖ידִי אֶת־דְּבָרֵ֣נוּ זֶ֑ה וְהָיִ֣ינוּ נְקִיִּ֔ם מִשְּׁבֻעָתֵ֖ךְ אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִשְׁבַּעְתָּֽנוּ׃
ἐὰν δέ τις ἡμᾶς ἀδικήσῃ ἢ καὶ ἀποκαλύψῃ τοὺς λόγους ἡμῶν τούτους ἐσόμεθα ἀθῷοι τῷ ὅρκῳ σου τούτῳ
Quod si nos prodere volueris, et sermonem istum proferre in medium, erimus mundi ab hoc juramento, quo adjurasti nos.
ወትቤሎሙ ፡ ይኩን ፡ በከመ ፡ ትቤሉ ፡ ወፈነወቶሙ ፡ ወሖሩ ፡ ወአሰረት ፡ ዝክተ ፡ ተአምረ ፡ ዘለይ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መስኮታ ።
But if you talk about this business of ours, then we shall be guiltless of your oath which you’ve made us to swear.”
2:21
וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ כְּדִבְרֵיכֶ֣ם כֶּן־ה֔וּא וַֽתְּשַׁלְּחֵ֖ם וַיֵּלֵ֑כוּ וַתִּקְשֹׁ֛ר אֶת־תִּקְוַ֥ת הַשָּׁנִ֖י בַּחַלּֽוֹן׃
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα ὑμῶν οὕτως ἔστω καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν αὐτούς
Et illa respondit : Sicut locuti estis, ita fiat : dimittensque eos ut pergerent, appendit funiculum coccineum in fenestra.
ወወፅኡ ፡ ወሖሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አድባር ፡ ወነበሩ ፡ ህየ ፡ ሠሉሰ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ እስከ ፡ ገብኡ ፡ እለ ፡ ዴገንዎሙ ፡ ወኀሠሥዎሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ዴገንዎሙ ፡ ወኢረከብዎሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ፍናዌ ።
She said, “Let it be as you have said.” She sent them away, and they departed. Then she tied the scarlet line in the window.
2:22
וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙ וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ הָהָ֔רָה וַיֵּ֤שְׁבוּ שָׁם֙ שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת יָמִ֔ים עַד־שָׁ֖בוּ הָרֹֽדְפִ֑ים וַיְבַקְשׁ֧וּ הָרֹדְפִ֛ים בְּכׇל־הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ וְלֹ֥א מָצָֽאוּ׃
καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν καὶ ἤλθοσαν εἰς τὴν ὀρεινὴν καὶ κατέμειναν ἐκεῖ τρεῖς ἡμέρας καὶ ἐξεζήτησαν οἱ καταδιώκοντες πάσας τὰς ὁδοὺς καὶ οὐχ εὕροσαν
Illi vero ambulantes pervenerunt ad montana, et manserunt ibi tres dies, donec reverterentur qui fuerant persecuti : quaerentes enim per omnem viam, non repererunt eos.
ወገብኡ ፡ እልክቱ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ወወረዱ ፡ እምነ ፡ ደብር ፡ ወኀለፉ ፡ ወበጽሑ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ነዌ ፡ ወዜነውዎ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዘከመ ፡ ገብሩ ።
They went and came to the mountain, and stayed there three days, until the pursuers had returned. The pursuers sought them all along the way, but didn’t find them.
2:23
וַיָּשֻׁ֜בוּ שְׁנֵ֤י הָֽאֲנָשִׁים֙ וַיֵּרְד֣וּ מֵֽהָהָ֔ר וַיַּֽעַבְרוּ֙ וַיָּבֹ֔אוּ אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ בִּן־נ֑וּן וַ֨יְסַפְּרוּ־ל֔וֹ אֵ֥ת כׇּל־הַמֹּצְא֖וֹת אוֹתָֽם׃
καὶ ὑπέστρεψαν οἱ δύο νεανίσκοι καὶ κατέβησαν ἐκ τοῦ ὄρους καὶ διέβησαν πρὸς Ἰησοῦν υἱὸν Ναυη καὶ διηγήσαντο αὐτῷ πάντα τὰ συμβεβηκότα αὐτοῖς
Quibus urbem ingressis, reversi sunt, et descenderunt exploratores de monte : et, transmisso Jordane, venerunt ad Josue filium Nun, narraveruntque ei omnia quae acciderant sibi,
ወይቤልዎ ፡ ለኢየሱስ ፡ አግብአ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እዴነ ፡ ወደንገፁ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ እምኔነ ።
Then the two men returned, descended from the mountain, crossed the river, and came to Joshua the son of Nun. They told him all that had happened to them.
2:24
וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ כִּֽי־נָתַ֧ן יְהֹוָ֛ה בְּיָדֵ֖נוּ אֶת־כׇּל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וְגַם־נָמֹ֛גוּ כׇּל־יֹשְׁבֵ֥י הָאָ֖רֶץ מִפָּנֵֽינוּ׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς Ἰησοῦν ὅτι παρέδωκεν κύριος πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν ἐν χειρὶ ἡμῶν καὶ κατέπτηκεν πᾶς ὁ κατοικῶν τὴν γῆν ἐκείνην ἀφ’ ἡμῶν
atque dixerunt : Tradidit Dominus omnem terram hanc in manus nostras, et timore prostrati sunt cuncti habitatores ejus.
—
They said to Joshua, “Truly Yahweh has delivered all the land into our hands. Moreover, all the inhabitants of the land melt away before us.”
