In the twelfth year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, who reigned over the Assyrians in Nineveh, the great city, in the days of Arphaxad, who reigned over the Medes in Ecbatana,

καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐπ’ Ἐκβατάνων κύκλῳ τείχη ἐκ λίθων λελαξευμένων εἰς πλάτος πηχῶν τριῶν καὶ εἰς μῆκος πηχῶν ἓξ καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ ὕψος τοῦ τείχους πηχῶν ἑβδομήκοντα καὶ τὸ πλάτος αὐτοῦ πηχῶν πεντήκοντα
ex lapidibus quadratis et sectis : fecit muros ejus in altitudinem cubitorum septuaginta, et in latitudinem cubitorum triginta : turres vero ejus posuit in altitudinem cubitorum centum.
ወነደቃ፡ ለባጥና፡ ዓውደ፡ ዓረፍታ፡ በዕብነ፡ ውቅሮ፡ ጽፍሐ፡ መሠረቱ፡ ሠላሳ፡ በዕመት፡ ዘመንገለ፡ ገዳማ፡ ለሀገር፡ ወዘመንገለ፡ ገጸ፡ ሀገር፡ ስሳ፡ በዕመት፡ ጽፍሐ፡ መሠረቱ፡ ወገብረ፡ ቆመ፡ ዓረፍቱ፡ ሰብዓ፡ በእመት፡ ወማዕዘኖ፡ ዘኃምሳ፡ በእመት።
and built around Ecbatana walls of hewn stones three cubits broad and six cubits long, and made the height of the wall seventy cubits, and its breadth fifty cubits;

καὶ τοὺς πύργους αὐτοῦ ἔστησεν ἐπὶ ταῖς πύλαις αὐτῆς πηχῶν ἑκατὸν καὶ τὸ πλάτος αὐτῆς ἐθεμελίωσεν εἰς πήχεις ἑξήκοντα
Per quadrum vero earum latus utrumque vicenorum pedum spatio tendebatur, posuitque portas ejus in altitudinem turrium :
ወዓቀመ፡ ማኅፈዲሁ፡ ኀበ፡ አንቀጽ፡ ዘዘ፻፡ በዕመት፡ ወመሠረቱ፡ እማዕዘንት፡ እስከ፡ ማዕዘንት፡ ፷፡ በዕመት።
and set its towers at its gates, one hundred cubits high, and its breadth in the foundation was sixty cubits;

καὶ ἐποίησεν τὰς πύλας αὐτῆς πύλας διεγειρομένας εἰς ὕψος πηχῶν ἑβδομήκοντα καὶ τὸ πλάτος αὐτῆς πήχεις τεσσαράκοντα εἰς ἐξόδους δυνάμεως δυνατῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ διατάξεις τῶν πεζῶν αὐτοῦ
et gloriabatur quasi potens in potentia exercitus sui, et in gloria quadrigarum suarum.
ወገብረ፡ ኆኅተ፡ አናቅጺሃ፡ ዘይትረኃው፡ ፸፡ በእምት፡ ቆሞን፡ ወርኅቦን፡ ፴፡ በእመት፡ ኀበ፡ ይበውኡ፡ ኃያላኒሁ፡ ወጽኑዓኒሁ፡ ወሠራዊተ፡ አጋርያኒሁ።
and made its gates, even gates that were raised to the height of seventy cubits, and their breadth forty cubits, for his mighty army to go out of, and the setting in array of his footmen—

καὶ ἐποίησεν πόλεμον ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις ὁ βασιλεὺς Ναβουχοδονοσορ πρὸς βασιλέα Αρφαξαδ ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ τῷ μεγάλῳ τοῦτό ἐστιν πεδίον ἐν τοῖς ὁρίοις Ραγαυ
Anno igitur duodecimo regni sui, Nabuchodonosor rex Assyriorum, qui regnabat in Ninive civitate magna, pugnavit contra Arphaxad, et obtinuit eum
ወጸብዖ፡ ናቡከደነፆር፡ በእማንቱ፡ መዋዕል፡ ለአርፋስክድ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ዓቢይ፡ ውስተ፡ ገዳም፡ ዓቢይ፡ ወውእቱ፡ ገዳም፡ ውስተ፡ ደወለ፡ ራግው።
even in those days king Nebuchadnezzar made war with king Arphaxad in the great plain. This plain is on the borders of Ragau.

καὶ συνήντησαν πρὸς αὐτὸν πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὴν ὀρεινὴν καὶ πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὸν Εὐφράτην καὶ τὸν Τίγριν καὶ τὸν Ὑδάσπην καὶ πεδία Αριωχ βασιλέως Ἐλυμαίων καὶ συνῆλθον ἔθνη πολλὰ εἰς παράταξιν υἱῶν Χελεουδ
in campo magno qui appellatur Ragau, circa Euphraten, et Tigrin, et Jadason, in campo Erioch regis Elicorum.
ወተቀበልዎ፡ ኵሉ፡ እለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ውስተ፡ አድባር፡ ወኵሎሙ፡ ዘውስተ፡ አድባረ፡ ኢዎፍራጤዎን፡ ወጤግራዎን፡ ለሄድስጦጶን፡ ወአሕቃለተ፡ አርዮክ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ኤሴሜዮክ፡ ወተጋብኡ፡ አሕዛብ፡ ብዙኃን፡ ጥቀ፡ ከመ፡ ይትቃተልዎሙ፡ ለደቂቀ፡ ካሌድ።
There came to meet him all that lived in the hill country, and all that lived by Euphrates, Tigris, and Hydaspes, and in the plain of Arioch the king of the Elymaeans. Many nations of the sons of Chelod assembled themselves to the battle.

καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς κατοικοῦντας τὴν Περσίδα καὶ ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς κατοικοῦντας πρὸς δυσμαῖς τοὺς κατοικοῦντας τὴν Κιλικίαν καὶ Δαμασκὸν καὶ τὸν Λίβανον καὶ Ἀντιλίβανον καὶ πάντας τοὺς κατοικοῦντας κατὰ πρόσωπον τῆς παραλίας
Tunc exaltatum est regnum Nabuchodonosor, et cor ejus elevatum est : et misit ad omnes qui habitabant in Cilicia, et Damasco, et Libano,
ወለአከ፡ ናቡከደነፆር፡ ንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ ለኵሉ፡ እለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ደወለ፡ ፋርስ፡ ወለኵሉ፡ እለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ መንገለ፡ ዓረቢሆሙ፡ ለእለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ውስተ፡ ቄልቅያ፡ ወደማስቆ፡ ወሊባኖስ፡ ወለኵሎሙ፡ እለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ መንገለ፡ ገጸ፡ ጰራልያ።
And Nebuchadnezzar king of the Assyrians sent to all who lived in Persia, and to all who lived westward, to those who lived in Cilicia, Damascus, Libanus, and Antilibanus, and to all who lived along the sea coast,

καὶ τοὺς ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσι τοῦ Καρμήλου καὶ Γαλααδ καὶ τὴν ἄνω Γαλιλαίαν καὶ τὸ μέγα πεδίον Εσδρηλων
et ad gentes quæ sunt in Carmelo et Cedar, et inhabitantes Galilæam in campo magno Esdrelon,
ወለአሕዛብ፡ እለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ውስተ፡ ቀርሜሎስ፡ ወገለዓድ፡ ወላዕለ፡ ገሊላ፡ ወዘዓቢይ፡ ገዳም፡ አስዳሬባም።
and to those among the nations that were of Carmel and Gilead, and to the higher Galilee and the great plain of Esdraelon,

καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ καὶ ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῆς καὶ πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἕως Ιερουσαλημ καὶ Βατανη καὶ Χελους καὶ Καδης καὶ τοῦ ποταμοῦ Αἰγύπτου καὶ Ταφνας καὶ Ραμεσση καὶ πᾶσαν γῆν Γεσεμ
et ad omnes qui erant in Samaria, et trans flumen Jordanem usque ad Jerusalem, et omnem terram Jesse quousque perveniatur ad terminos Æthiopiæ.
ወለኵሉ፡ እለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ሰማርያ፡ ወእለ፡ ውስተ፡ አህጉሪሃ፡ ወእለ፡ ውስተ፡ ማዕዶተ፡ ዮርዳኖስ፡ እስከ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም፡ ወቢላጤኒ፡ ወበአክሉስ፡ ወቃዴስ፡ ወፈለገ፡ ግብፅ፡ ወጥፍናስ፡ ወራሚስ፡ ወኵሉ፡ ምድረ፡ ጌሤም።
and to all who were in Samaria and its cities, and beyond Jordan to Jerusalem, Betane, Chellus, Kadesh, the river of Egypt, Tahpanhes, Rameses, and all the land of Goshen,
1:10
ἕως τοῦ ἐλθεῖν ἐπάνω Τάνεως καὶ Μέμφεως καὶ πάντας τοὺς κατοικοῦντας τὴν Αἴγυπτον ἕως τοῦ ἐλθεῖν ἐπὶ τὰ ὅρια τῆς Αἰθιοπίας
Ad hos omnes misit nuntios Nabuchodonosor rex Assyriorum :
እስከ፡ ይበጽሕ፡ መልዕልተ፡ ጣኔዎስ፡ ወሜንፌዎስ፡ ወለኵሉ፡ እለ፡ ውስተ፡ ግብፅ፡ እስከ፡ ይበጽሕ፡ ደወለ፡ ኢትዮጵያ።
until you come above Tanis and Memphis, and to all that lived in Egypt, until you come to the borders of Ethiopia.
1:11
καὶ ἐφαύλισαν πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν τὸ ῥῆμα Ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλέως Ἀσσυρίων καὶ οὐ συνῆλθον αὐτῷ εἰς τὸν πόλεμον ὅτι οὐκ ἐφοβήθησαν αὐτόν ἀλλ’ ἦν ἐναντίον αὐτῶν ὡς ἀνὴρ εἷς καὶ ἀνέστρεψαν τοὺς ἀγγέλους αὐτοῦ κενοὺς ἐν ἀτιμίᾳ προσώπου αὐτῶν
qui omnes uno animo contradixerunt, et remiserunt eos vacuos, et sine honore abjecerunt.
ወዕበዩ፡ ኵሉ፡ እለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ውስተ፡ ኵሉ፡ ምድር፡ ትእዛዘ፡ ናቡከደነፆር፡ ንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ ወኢሖሩ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ጸብዐ፡ እስመ፡ ኢፈርህዎ፡ ወኮነ፡ ቅድሜሆሙ፡ ከመ፡ አሐዱ፡ ብእሲ፡ ወገብኡ፡ ሐዋርያቲሁ፡ ዕራቃኒሆሙ፡ በሐሣር፡ እምቅድመ፡ ገጾሙ።
All those who lived in all the land made light of the commandment of Nebuchadnezzar king of the Assyrians, and didn’t go with him to the war; for they were not afraid of him, but he was before them as one man. They turned away his messengers from their presence without effect, and with disgrace.
1:12
καὶ ἐθυμώθη Ναβουχοδονοσορ ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν ταύτην σφόδρα καὶ ὤμοσε κατὰ τοῦ θρόνου καὶ τῆς βασιλείας αὐτοῦ εἰ μὴν ἐκδικήσειν πάντα τὰ ὅρια τῆς Κιλικίας καὶ Δαμασκηνῆς καὶ Συρίας ἀνελεῖν τῇ ῥομφαίᾳ αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντας τοὺς κατοικοῦντας ἐν γῇ Μωαβ καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς Αμμων καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν Ιουδαίαν καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ ἕως τοῦ ἐλθεῖν ἐπὶ τὰ ὅρια τῶν δύο θαλασσῶν
Tunc indignatus Nabuchodonosor rex adversus omnem terram illam, juravit per thronum et regnum suum quod defenderet se de omnibus regionibus his.
ወተምዐ፡ ናቡከደነፆር፡ ላዕለ፡ ኵላ፡ ይእቲ፡ ምድር፡ ጥቀ፡ ወመሐለ፡ በመንበረ፡ መንግሥቱ፡ ከመ፡ ይትበቀል፡ ኵሎ፡ ደወለ፡ ቄልቅያ፡ ወዘደማስቄኔስ፡ ወዘሶርያ፡ ከመ፡ ይቅትሎሙ፡ በሰይፍ፡ ወለኵሉ፡ እለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድረ፡ ሞዓብ፡ ወለደቂቀ፡ አሞን፡ ወለኵሎሙ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ወለኵሉ፡ እለ፡ ውስተ፡ ግብፅ፡ እስከ፡ ይበጽሕ፡ ደወለ፡ ክልኤቱ፡ ብሔር።
And Nebuchadnezzar was exceedingly angry with all this land, and he swore by his throne and kingdom, that he would surely be avenged upon all the coasts of Cilicia, Damascus, and Syria, that he would kill with his sword all the inhabitants of the land of Moab, and the children of Ammon, all Judea, and all that were in Egypt, until you come to the borders of the two seas.

καὶ παρετάξατο ἐν τῇ δυνάμει αὐτοῦ πρὸς Αρφαξαδ βασιλέα ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ ἑπτακαιδεκάτῳ καὶ ἐκραταιώθη ἐν τῷ πολέμῳ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνέστρεψεν πᾶσαν τὴν δύναμιν Αρφαξαδ καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ἵππον αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ ἅρματα αὐτοῦ
—
ወፀብዖ፡ ምስለ፡ ኃይሉ፡ ለአርፋስክድ፡ ንጉሥ፡ አመ፡ ዐሠርቱ፡ ወሰብዐቱ፡ ዓመት፡ ወሞኦ፡ ወአእተወ፡ ኵሎ፡ ኃይሎ፡ ወኵሎ፡ አፍራሲሁ፡ ወኵሎ፡ ሠረገላቲሁ።
And he set the battle in array with his army against king Arphaxad in the seventeenth year; and he prevailed in his battle, and turned to flight all the army of Arphaxad, with all his horses and all his chariots.
1:14
καὶ ἐκυρίευσε τῶν πόλεων αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀφίκετο ἕως Ἐκβατάνων καὶ ἐκράτησε τῶν πύργων καὶ ἐπρονόμευσε τὰς πλατείας αὐτῆς καὶ τὸν κόσμον αὐτῆς ἔθηκεν εἰς ὄνειδος αὐτῆς
—
ወአስተጋብአ፡ አህጉሪሁ፡ ወሖረ፡ እስከ፡ ባጥና፡ ወነሥአ፡ ማኅፈዲሆሙ፡ እስከ፡ በርበረ፡ ሀገራ፡ ወነሠታ።
He became master of his cities, and he came even to Ecbatana, and took the towers, plundered its streets, and turned its beauty into shame.
1:15
καὶ ἔλαβε τὸν Αρφαξαδ ἐν τοῖς ὄρεσι Ραγαυ καὶ κατηκόντισεν αὐτὸν ἐν ταῖς σιβύναις αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξωλέθρευσεν αὐτὸν ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης
—
ወአኃዞ፡ ለአርፋስክድ፡ በደወለ፡ ራግው፡ ወረገዞ፡ በኵናት፡ ወሠረዎ፡ ለዝሉፋ።
He took Arphaxad in the mountains of Ragau, struck him through with his darts, and utterly destroyed him, to this day.
1:16
καὶ ἀνέστρεψεν μετ’ αὐτῶν αὐτὸς καὶ πᾶς ὁ σύμμικτος αὐτοῦ πλῆθος ἀνδρῶν πολεμιστῶν πολὺ σφόδρα καὶ ἦν ἐκεῖ ῥᾳθυμῶν καὶ εὐωχούμενος αὐτὸς καὶ ἡ δύναμις αὐτοῦ ἐφ’ ἡμέρας ἑκατὸν εἴκοσι
—
ወአተዉ፡ ውእቱ፡ ወእለ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ኵሉ፡ ብዙኃን፡ ዕደው፡ መስተቃትላን፡ ወነበረ፡ ህየ፡ ውእቱ፡ ምእተ፡ ወዕሥራ፡ ዕለተ፡ እንዘ፡ ይመክር፡ ወይሔሊ።
He returned with them to Nineveh, he and all his company of sundry nations, an exceedingly great multitude of men of war, and there he took his ease and banqueted, he and his army, for one hundred twenty days.
