24:1
וַיַּ֣רְא בִּלְעָ֗ם כִּ֣י ט֞וֹב בְּעֵינֵ֤י יְהֹוָה֙ לְבָרֵ֣ךְ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְלֹא־הָלַ֥ךְ כְּפַֽעַם־בְּפַ֖עַם לִקְרַ֣את נְחָשִׁ֑ים וַיָּ֥שֶׁת אֶל־הַמִּדְבָּ֖ר פָּנָֽיו׃
καὶ ἰδὼν Βαλααμ ὅτι καλόν ἐστιν ἔναντι κυρίου εὐλογεῖν τὸν Ισραηλ οὐκ ἐπορεύθη κατὰ τὸ εἰωθὸς εἰς συνάντησιν τοῖς οἰωνοῖς καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν ἔρημον
Cumque vidisset Balaam quod placeret Domino ut benediceret Israëli, nequaquam abiit ut ante perrexerat, ut augurium quaereret : sed dirigens contra desertum vultum suum,
ወሶበ ፡ ርእየ ፡ በለዓም ፡ ከመ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በረኩቱ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ኢሖረ ፡ በከመ ፡ ያለምድ ፡ መንጸረ ፡ ቅድሜሁ ፡ ለአስተቃስሞ ፡ ወሜጠ ፡ ገጾ ፡ መንገለ ፡ ገዳም ።
When Balaam saw that it pleased Yahweh to bless Israel, he didn’t go, as at the other times, to use divination, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
24:2
וַיִּשָּׂ֨א בִלְעָ֜ם אֶת־עֵינָ֗יו וַיַּרְא֙ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל שֹׁכֵ֖ן לִשְׁבָטָ֑יו וַתְּהִ֥י עָלָ֖יו ר֥וּחַ אֱלֹהִֽים׃
καὶ ἐξάρας Βαλααμ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ καθορᾷ τὸν Ισραηλ ἐστρατοπεδευκότα κατὰ φυλάς καὶ ἐγένετο πνεῦμα θεοῦ ἐν αὐτῷ
et elevans oculos, vidit Israël in tentoriis commorantem per tribus suas : et irruente in se spiritu Dei,
ወአልዐለ ፡ በለዓም ፡ አዕይንቲሁ ፡ ወይሬእዮሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይግዕዙ ፡ በበ ፡ ሕዘቢሆሙ ፡ ወ መጽአ ፡ ላዕሌሁ ፡ መንፈሰ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel dwelling according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came on him.
24:3
וַיִּשָּׂ֥א מְשָׁל֖וֹ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר נְאֻ֤ם בִּלְעָם֙ בְּנ֣וֹ בְעֹ֔ר וּנְאֻ֥ם הַגֶּ֖בֶר שְׁתֻ֥ם הָעָֽיִן׃
καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν φησὶν Βαλααμ υἱὸς Βεωρ φησὶν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ ἀληθινῶς ὁρῶν
assumpta parabola, ait : Dixit Balaam filius Beor : dixit homo, cujus obturatus est oculus :
ወ[መሰ] ለ ፡ ነገ[ሮ] ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ይቤ ፡ በለዓም ፡ ወልደ ፡ ቤዖር ፡ ይቤ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ራትዕ ፤
He took up his parable, and said, “Balaam the son of Beor says, the man whose eyes are open says;
24:4
נְאֻ֕ם שֹׁמֵ֖עַ אִמְרֵי־אֵ֑ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר מַחֲזֵ֤ה שַׁדַּי֙ יֶֽחֱזֶ֔ה נֹפֵ֖ל וּגְל֥וּי עֵינָֽיִם׃
φησὶν ἀκούων λόγια θεοῦ ὅστις ὅρασιν θεοῦ εἶδεν ἐν ὕπνῳ ἀποκεκαλυμμένοι οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ
dixit auditor sermonum Dei, qui visionem Omnipotentis intuitus est, qui cadit, et sic aperiuntur oculi ejus :
ዘይሬኢ ፡ ራእየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዘክሡት ፡ አዕይንቲሁ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይነውም ፤
he says, who hears the words of God, who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open:
24:5
מַה־טֹּ֥בוּ אֹהָלֶ֖יךָ יַעֲקֹ֑ב מִשְׁכְּנֹתֶ֖יךָ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
ὡς καλοί σου οἱ οἶκοι Ιακωβ αἱ σκηναί σου Ισραηλ
Quam pulchra tabernacula tua, Jacob, et tentoria tua, Israël !
እፎ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ አብያቲከ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ወተዓይኒከ ፡ እስራኤል ፤
How goodly are your tents, Jacob, and your dwellings, Israel!
24:6
כִּנְחָלִ֣ים נִטָּ֔יוּ כְּגַנֹּ֖ת עֲלֵ֣י נָהָ֑ר כַּאֲהָלִים֙ נָטַ֣ע יְהֹוָ֔ה כַּאֲרָזִ֖ים עֲלֵי־מָֽיִם׃
ὡσεὶ νάπαι σκιάζουσαι καὶ ὡσεὶ παράδεισοι ἐπὶ ποταμῶν καὶ ὡσεὶ σκηναί ἃς ἔπηξεν κύριος ὡσεὶ κέδροι παρ’ ὕδατα
ut valles nemorosae, ut horti juxta fluvios irrigui, ut tabernacula quae fixit Dominus, quasi cedri prope aquas.
ወከመ ፡ አእዋም ፡ ዘይጼልል ፡ ወከመ ፡ ገነት ፡ ዘኀበ ፡ ፈለግ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ትዕይንት ፡ ዘተከለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወከመ ፡ አርዝ ፡ ዘኀበ ፡ ማይ ።
As valleys they are spread out, as gardens by the riverside, as aloes which Yahweh has planted, as cedar trees beside the waters.
24:7
יִֽזַּל־מַ֙יִם֙ מִדָּ֣לְיָ֔ו וְזַרְע֖וֹ בְּמַ֣יִם רַבִּ֑ים וְיָרֹ֤ם מֵֽאֲגַג֙ מַלְכּ֔וֹ וְתִנַּשֵּׂ֖א מַלְכֻתֽוֹ׃
ἐξελεύσεται ἄνθρωπος ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματος αὐτοῦ καὶ κυριεύσει ἐθνῶν πολλῶν καὶ ὑψωθήσεται ἢ Γωγ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ καὶ αὐξηθήσεται ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ
Fluet aqua de situla ejus, et semen illius erit in aquas multas. Tolletur propter Agag, rex ejus, et auferetur regnum illius.
ወይወፅእ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ እምዘርኡ ፡ ወይቀኒ ፡ ብዙኀ ፡ አሕዛበ ፡ ወትት[ሌ] ዐል ፡ ጎግ ፡ መንግሥቱ ፡ ወተዐቢ ፡ መንግሥቱ ።
Water shall flow from his buckets. His seed shall be in many waters. His king shall be higher than Agag. His kingdom shall be exalted.
24:8
אֵ֚ל מוֹצִיא֣וֹ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם כְּתוֹעֲפֹ֥ת רְאֵ֖ם ל֑וֹ יֹאכַ֞ל גּוֹיִ֣ם צָרָ֗יו וְעַצְמֹתֵיהֶ֛ם יְגָרֵ֖ם וְחִצָּ֥יו יִמְחָֽץ׃
θεὸς ὡδήγησεν αὐτὸν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου ὡς δόξα μονοκέρωτος αὐτῷ ἔδεται ἔθνη ἐχθρῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ πάχη αὐτῶν ἐκμυελιεῖ καὶ ταῖς βολίσιν αὐτοῦ κατατοξεύσει ἐχθρόν
Deus eduxit illum de Aegypto, cujus fortitudo similis est rhinocerotis. Devorabunt gentes hostes illius, ossaque eorum confringent, et perforabunt sagittis.
ወእግዚአብሔር ፡ መርሖ ፡ እምነ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ከመ ፡ ክብረ ፡ ዘአሐዱ ፡ ቀርኑ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ይበልዖሙ ፡ ለአሕዛበ ፡ ፀሩ ፡ ወያስተናጕዕ ፡ ስብሖሙ ፡ ወይነድፎ ፡ በአሕፃሁ ፡ ለፀር ።
God brings him out of Egypt. He has as it were the strength of the wild ox. He shall consume the nations his adversaries, shall break their bones in pieces, and pierce them with his arrows.
24:9
כָּרַ֨ע שָׁכַ֧ב כַּאֲרִ֛י וּכְלָבִ֖יא מִ֣י יְקִימֶ֑נּוּ מְבָרְכֶ֣יךָ בָר֔וּךְ וְאֹרְרֶ֖יךָ אָרֽוּר׃
κατακλιθεὶς ἀνεπαύσατο ὡς λέων καὶ ὡς σκύμνος τίς ἀναστήσει αὐτόν οἱ εὐλογοῦντές σε εὐλόγηνται καὶ οἱ καταρώμενοί σε κεκατήρανται
Accubans dormivit ut leo, et quasi leaena, quam suscitare nullus audebit. Qui benedixerit tibi, erit et ipse benedictus : qui maledixerit, in maledictione reputabitur.
ይሰክብ ፡ ወያዐርፍ ፡ ከመ ፡ አንበሳ ፡ ወከመ ፡ እጓለ ፡ አንበሳ ፡ መኑ ፡ ያነቅሆ ፤ እለ ፡ ይባርኩከ ፡ ቡሩካነ ፡ ይኩኑ ፡ ወእለ ፡ ይረግሙከ ፡ ርጉማነ ፡ ይኩኑ ።
He couched, he lay down as a lion, as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Everyone who blesses you is blessed. Everyone who curses you is cursed.”
24:10
וַיִּֽחַר־אַ֤ף בָּלָק֙ אֶל־בִּלְעָ֔ם וַיִּסְפֹּ֖ק אֶת־כַּפָּ֑יו וַיֹּ֨אמֶר בָּלָ֜ק אֶל־בִּלְעָ֗ם לָקֹ֤ב אֹֽיְבַי֙ קְרָאתִ֔יךָ וְהִנֵּה֙ בֵּרַ֣כְתָּ בָרֵ֔ךְ זֶ֖ה שָׁלֹ֥שׁ פְּעָמִֽים׃
καὶ ἐθυμώθη Βαλακ ἐπὶ Βαλααμ καὶ συνεκρότησεν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν Βαλακ πρὸς Βαλααμ καταρᾶσθαι τὸν ἐχθρόν μου κέκληκά σε καὶ ἰδοὺ εὐλογῶν εὐλόγησας τρίτον τοῦτο
Iratusque Balac contra Balaam, complosis manibus ait : Ad maledicendum inimicis meis vocavi te, quibus e contrario tertio benedixisti :
ወተምዕዐ ፡ ባላቅ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ በለዓም ፡ ወአስተጣፍሐ ፡ በእደዊሁ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ በላቅ ፡ ለበለዓም ፡ ከመ ፡ ትርግሞሙ ፡ ሊተ ፡ ለጸላእትየ ፡ ጸዋዕኩከ ፡ ወናሁ ፡ ባርኮ ፡ ትባርክ ፡ ሣልስከ ፡ ዝንቱ ።
Balak’s anger burned against Balaam, and he struck his hands together. Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have altogether blessed them these three times.
24:11
וְעַתָּ֖ה בְּרַח־לְךָ֣ אֶל־מְקוֹמֶ֑ךָ אָמַ֙רְתִּי֙ כַּבֵּ֣ד אֲכַבֶּדְךָ֔ וְהִנֵּ֛ה מְנָעֲךָ֥ יְהֹוָ֖ה מִכָּבֽוֹד׃
νῦν οὖν φεῦγε εἰς τὸν τόπον σου εἶπα τιμήσω σε καὶ νῦν ἐστέρησέν σε κύριος τῆς δόξης
revertere ad locum tuum. Decreveram quidem magnifice honorare te, sed Dominus privavit te honore disposito.
ወይእዜኒ ፡ እቱ ፡ ቤተከ ፡ እቤ ፡ ከመ ፡ አክብርከ ፡ ወይእዜሰ ፡ ኢያውሀበከ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ክብረ ።
Therefore, flee to your place, now! I thought to promote you to great honor; but, behold, Yahweh has kept you back from honor.”
24:12
וַיֹּ֥אמֶר בִּלְעָ֖ם אֶל־בָּלָ֑ק הֲלֹ֗א גַּ֧ם אֶל־מַלְאָכֶ֛יךָ אֲשֶׁר־שָׁלַ֥חְתָּ אֵלַ֖י דִּבַּ֥רְתִּי לֵאמֹֽר׃
καὶ εἶπεν Βαλααμ πρὸς Βαλακ οὐχὶ καὶ τοῖς ἀγγέλοις σου οὓς ἀπέστειλας πρός με ἐλάλησα λέγων
Respondit Balaam ad Balac : Nonne nuntiis tuis, quos misisti ad me, dixi :
ወይቤሎ ፡ በለዓም ፡ ለባላቅ ፡ አኮኑ ፡ ለወዓሊከኒ ፡ እለ ፡ ለአከ ፡ ኀቤየ ፡ እቤሎሙ ፡ እንዘ ፡ እብል ፤
Balaam said to Balak, “Didn’t I also tell your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,
24:13
אִם־יִתֶּן־לִ֨י בָלָ֜ק מְלֹ֣א בֵיתוֹ֮ כֶּ֣סֶף וְזָהָב֒ לֹ֣א אוּכַ֗ל לַעֲבֹר֙ אֶת־פִּ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת טוֹבָ֛ה א֥וֹ רָעָ֖ה מִלִּבִּ֑י אֲשֶׁר־יְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֹת֥וֹ אֲדַבֵּֽר׃
ἐάν μοι δῷ Βαλακ πλήρη τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ ἀργυρίου καὶ χρυσίου οὐ δυνήσομαι παραβῆναι τὸ ῥῆμα κυρίου ποιῆσαι αὐτὸ πονηρὸν ἢ καλὸν παρ’ ἐμαυτοῦ ὅσα ἐὰν εἴπῃ ὁ θεός ταῦτα ἐρῶ
Si dederit mihi Balac plenam domum suam argenti et auri, non potero praeterire sermonem Domini Dei mei, ut vel boni quid vel mali proferam ex corde meo : sed quidquid Dominus dixerit, hoc loquar ?
ለእመ ፡ ወሀበኒ ፡ በላቅ ፡ ወርቀ ፡ ወብሩረ ፡ ምልአ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ቤት ፡ ኢይክል ፡ ተዐድዎ ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ እግበር ፡ ሠናየ ፡ አው ፡ እኩየ ፡ እምኀቤየ ፤ ኵሎ ፡ ዘይቤለኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኪያሁ ፡ እብል ።
‘If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can’t go beyond Yahweh’s word, to do either good or bad from my own mind. I will say what Yahweh says’?
24:14
וְעַתָּ֕ה הִנְנִ֥י הוֹלֵ֖ךְ לְעַמִּ֑י לְכָה֙ אִיעָ֣צְךָ֔ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יַעֲשֶׂ֜ה הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֛ה לְעַמְּךָ֖ בְּאַחֲרִ֥ית הַיָּמִֽים׃
καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ ἀποτρέχω εἰς τὸν τόπον μου δεῦρο συμβουλεύσω σοι τί ποιήσει ὁ λαὸς οὗτος τὸν λαόν σου ἐπ’ ἐσχάτου τῶν ἡμερῶν
verumtamen pergens ad populum meum, dabo consilium, quid populus tuus populo huic faciat extremo tempore.
ወይእዜኒ ፡ ናሁ ፡ አአቱ ፡ ቤትየ ፡ ወነዐ ፡ አይድዕከ ፡ ዘይገብሩ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ለሕዝብከ ፡ በደኃሪ ፡ መዋዕል ።
Now, behold, I go to my people. Come, I will inform you what this people shall do to your people in the latter days.”
24:15
וַיִּשָּׂ֥א מְשָׁל֖וֹ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר נְאֻ֤ם בִּלְעָם֙ בְּנ֣וֹ בְעֹ֔ר וּנְאֻ֥ם הַגֶּ֖בֶר שְׁתֻ֥ם הָעָֽיִן׃
καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν φησὶν Βαλααμ υἱὸς Βεωρ φησὶν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ ἀληθινῶς ὁρῶν
Sumpta igitur parabola, rursum ait : Dixit Balaam filius Beor : dixit homo, cujus obturatus est oculus :
ወ[መሰ] ለ ፡ ነገ[ሮ] ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ይቤ ፡ በለዓም ፡ ወልደ ፡ ቤዖር ፡ ይቤ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ራትዕ ፡ ዘይሬኢ ፤
He took up his parable, and said, “Balaam the son of Beor says, the man whose eyes are open says;
24:16
נְאֻ֗ם שֹׁמֵ֙עַ֙ אִמְרֵי־אֵ֔ל וְיֹדֵ֖עַ דַּ֣עַת עֶלְי֑וֹן מַחֲזֵ֤ה שַׁדַּי֙ יֶֽחֱזֶ֔ה נֹפֵ֖ל וּגְל֥וּי עֵינָֽיִם׃
ἀκούων λόγια θεοῦ ἐπιστάμενος ἐπιστήμην παρὰ ὑψίστου καὶ ὅρασιν θεοῦ ἰδὼν ἐν ὕπνῳ ἀποκεκαλυμμένοι οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ
dixit auditor sermonum Dei, qui novit doctrinam Altissimi, et visiones Omnipotentis videt, qui cadens apertos habet oculos :
ወይሰምዕ ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዘያአምር ፡ መዝራእቶ ፡ ለልዑል ፡ ወርእየ ፡ ራእየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዘክሡት ፡ አዕይንቲሁ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይነውም ፤
he says, who hears the words of God, knows the knowledge of the Most High, and who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open:
24:17
אֶרְאֶ֙נּוּ֙ וְלֹ֣א עַתָּ֔ה אֲשׁוּרֶ֖נּוּ וְלֹ֣א קָר֑וֹב דָּרַ֨ךְ כּוֹכָ֜ב מִֽיַּעֲקֹ֗ב וְקָ֥ם שֵׁ֙בֶט֙ מִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וּמָחַץ֙ פַּאֲתֵ֣י מוֹאָ֔ב וְקַרְקַ֖ר כׇּל־בְּנֵי־שֵֽׁת׃
δείξω αὐτῷ καὶ οὐχὶ νῦν μακαρίζω καὶ οὐκ ἐγγίζει ἀνατελεῖ ἄστρον ἐξ Ιακωβ καὶ ἀναστήσεται ἄνθρωπος ἐξ Ισραηλ καὶ θραύσει τοὺς ἀρχηγοὺς Μωαβ καὶ προνομεύσει πάντας υἱοὺς Σηθ
Videbo eum, sed non modo : intuebor illum, sed non prope. Orietur stella ex Jacob, et consurget virga de Israël : et percutiet duces Moab, vastabitque omnes filios Seth.
እሬእዮ ፡ ወአኮ ፡ ይእዜ ፡ ወአስተበፅዖ ፡ ወአኮ ፡ ዘይቀርብ ፡ ይሠርቅ ፡ ኮከብ ፡ እምያዕቆብ ፡ ወይትነሣእ ፡ እምእስራኤል ፡ ወያጠፍኦሙ ፡ ለመላእክተ ፡ ሞአብ ፡ ወይጼውዎሙ ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ሴት ።
I see him, but not now. I see him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob. A scepter will rise out of Israel, and shall strike through the corners of Moab, and crush all the sons of Sheth.
24:18
וְהָיָ֨ה אֱד֜וֹם יְרֵשָׁ֗ה וְהָיָ֧ה יְרֵשָׁ֛ה שֵׂעִ֖יר אֹיְבָ֑יו וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עֹ֥שֶׂה חָֽיִל׃
καὶ ἔσται Εδωμ κληρονομία καὶ ἔσται κληρονομία Ησαυ ὁ ἐχθρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ Ισραηλ ἐποίησεν ἐν ἰσχύι
Et erit Idumaea possessio ejus : haereditas Seir cedet inimicis suis : Israël vero fortiter aget.
ወይከውኖ ፡ ኤዶም ፡ ርስቶ ፡ ወይከውን ፡ ርስቶ ፡ ዔሳው ፡ ፀሩ ፡ ወእስራኤልሰ ፡ ገብረ ፡ በኀይል ።
Edom shall be a possession. Seir, his enemy, also shall be a possession, while Israel does valiantly.
24:19
וְיֵ֖רְדְּ מִֽיַּעֲקֹ֑ב וְהֶֽאֱבִ֥יד שָׂרִ֖יד מֵעִֽיר׃
καὶ ἐξεγερθήσεται ἐξ Ιακωβ καὶ ἀπολεῖ σῳζόμενον ἐκ πόλεως
De Jacob erit qui dominetur, et perdat reliquias civitatis.
ወይትነሣእ ፡ እምነ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ወያጠፍኦሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ድኅኑ ፡ እምነ ፡ ሀገር ።
Out of Jacob shall one have dominion, and shall destroy the remnant from the city.”
24:20
וַיַּרְא֙ אֶת־עֲמָלֵ֔ק וַיִּשָּׂ֥א מְשָׁל֖וֹ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר רֵאשִׁ֤ית גּוֹיִם֙ עֲמָלֵ֔ק וְאַחֲרִית֖וֹ עֲדֵ֥י אֹבֵֽד׃
καὶ ἰδὼν τὸν Αμαληκ καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν ἀρχὴ ἐθνῶν Αμαληκ καὶ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτῶν ἀπολεῖται
Cumque vidisset Amalec, assumens parabolam, ait : Principium gentium Amalec, cujus extrema perdentur.
ወሶበ ፡ ርእዮሙ ፡ ለዐማሌቅ ፡ [መሰ] ለ ፡ ነገ[ሮ] ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ቀዳሚሁ ፡ ለአሕዛብ ፡ ዐማሌቅ ፡ ወይጠፍእ ፡ ዘርኦሙ ።
He looked at Amalek, and took up his parable, and said, “Amalek was the first of the nations, but his latter end shall come to destruction.”
24:21
וַיַּרְא֙ אֶת־הַקֵּינִ֔י וַיִּשָּׂ֥א מְשָׁל֖וֹ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אֵיתָן֙ מֽוֹשָׁבֶ֔ךָ וְשִׂ֥ים בַּסֶּ֖לַע קִנֶּֽךָ׃
καὶ ἰδὼν τὸν Καιναῖον καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν ἰσχυρὰ ἡ κατοικία σου καὶ ἐὰν θῇς ἐν πέτρᾳ τὴν νοσσιάν σου
Vidit quoque Cinaeum : et assumpta parabola, ait : Robustum quidem est habitaculum tuum : sed si in petra posueris nidum tuum,
ወሶበ ፡ ርእዮሙ ፡ ለቄኔዎን ፡ [መሰ] ለ ፡ ነገ[ሮ] ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ጽንዕት ፡ እከይከ ፡ ወለእመሂ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኰኵሕ ፡ አንበርከ ፡ እጐሊከ ፤
He looked at the Kenite, and took up his parable, and said, “Your dwelling place is strong. Your nest is set in the rock.
24:22
כִּ֥י אִם־יִהְיֶ֖ה לְבָ֣עֵֽר קָ֑יִן עַד־מָ֖ה אַשּׁ֥וּר תִּשְׁבֶּֽךָּ׃
καὶ ἐὰν γένηται τῷ Βεωρ νεοσσιὰ πανουργίας Ἀσσύριοί σε αἰχμαλωτεύσουσιν
et fueris electus de stirpe Cin, quamdiu poteris permanere ? Assur enim capiet te.
ወለእመሂ ፡ ኮነ ፡ ለቤዖር ፡ እጕለ ፡ ጕሕሉት ፡ አሲርየ ፡ ይጼውወከ ።
Nevertheless Kain shall be wasted, until Asshur carries you away captive.”
24:23
וַיִּשָּׂ֥א מְשָׁל֖וֹ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר א֕וֹי מִ֥י יִחְיֶ֖ה מִשֻּׂמ֥וֹ אֵֽל׃
καὶ ἰδὼν τὸν Ωγ καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν ὦ ὦ τίς ζήσεται ὅταν θῇ ταῦτα ὁ θεός
Assumptaque parabola iterum locutus est : Heu ! quis victurus est, quando ista faciet Deus ?
ወሶበ ፡ ርእዮ ፡ ለኦግ ፡ [መሰ] ለ ፡ ነገ[ሮ] ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ኦአ ፡ መኑ ፡ የሐዩ ፡ አመ ፡ ይገብሮ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለዝንቱ ።
He took up his parable, and said, “Alas, who shall live when God does this?
24:24
וְצִים֙ מִיַּ֣ד כִּתִּ֔ים וְעִנּ֥וּ אַשּׁ֖וּר וְעִנּוּ־עֵ֑בֶר וְגַם־ה֖וּא עֲדֵ֥י אֹבֵֽד׃
καὶ ἐξελεύσεται ἐκ χειρὸς Κιτιαίων καὶ κακώσουσιν Ασσουρ καὶ κακώσουσιν Εβραίους καὶ αὐτοὶ ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἀπολοῦνται
Venient in trieribus de Italia : superabunt Assyrios, vastabuntque Hebraeos, et ad extremum etiam ipsi peribunt.
ወይወፅእ ፡ እምእደዊሆሙ ፡ ለቀጢየዎን ፡ ወየአክዩ ፡ በአሱር ፡ ወየአክዩ ፡ ዕብራውያን ፡ ወእሙንቱሰ ፡ ኅቡረ ፡ ይጠፍኡ ።
But ships shall come from the coast of Kittim. They shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber. He also shall come to destruction.”
24:25
וַיָּ֣קׇם בִּלְעָ֔ם וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ וַיָּ֣שׇׁב לִמְקֹמ֑וֹ וְגַם־בָּלָ֖ק הָלַ֥ךְ לְדַרְכּֽוֹ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἀναστὰς Βαλααμ ἀπῆλθεν ἀποστραφεὶς εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτοῦ καὶ Βαλακ ἀπῆλθεν πρὸς ἑαυτόν
Surrexitque Balaam, et reversus est in locum suum : Balac quoque via, qua venerat, rediit.
ወተንሥአ ፡ በለዓም ፡ ወሖረ ፡ ወገብአ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ ወበላቅሂ ፡ አተወ ፡ ቤቶ ።
Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place; and Balak also went his way.
