6:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τί οὖν ἐροῦμεν ; ἐπιμένωμεν τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ , ἵνα ἡ χάρις πλεονάσῃ ;
Quid ergo dicemus ? permanebimus in peccato ut gratia abundet ?
ምንተ እንከ ንብል ንግበርኑ ኀጢአተ ከመ ይፈድፍድ ጸጋሁ ለእግዚአብሔር ሐሰ ።
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
6:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ μὴ γένοιτο · οἵτινες ἀπεθάνομεν τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ , πῶς ἔτι ζήσομεν ἐν αὐτῇ ;
Absit . Qui enim mortui sumus peccato , quomodo adhuc vivemus in illo ?
አኮኑ ወዳእነ ሞትነ እምኀጢአትነ እፎ እንከ ንክል ሐዪወ ባቲ ።
May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?
6:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἢ ἀγνοεῖτε ὅτι ὅσοι ἐβαπτίσθημεν εἰς Χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν εἰς τὸν θάνατον αὐτοῦ ἐβαπτίσθημεν ;
an ignoratis quia quicumque baptizati sumus in Christo Jesu , in morte ipsius baptizati sumus ?
ወዘንተ ባሕቱ አእምሩ ኵልክሙ ከመ እለ ተጠመቅነ በእግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ውስተ ሞቱ ተጠመቅነ ።
Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
6:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ συνετάφημεν οὖν αὐτῷ διὰ τοῦ βαπτίσματος εἰς τὸν θάνατον , ἵνα ὥσπερ ἠγέρθη Χριστὸς ἐκ νεκρῶν διὰ τῆς δόξης τοῦ πατρός , οὕτως καὶ ἡμεῖς ἐν καινότητι ζωῆς περιπατήσωμεν .
Consepulti enim sumus cum illo per baptismum in mortem : ut quomodo Christus surrexit a mortuis per gloriam Patris , ita et nos in novitate vitae ambulemus .
ወተቀበርነ ምስሌሁ ውስተ ጥምቀት በሞቱ ከመ በከመ ውእቱ ክርስቶስ ተንሥአ እምዉታን በስብሐተ አቡሁ ከማሁ ንሕነኒ ናንሶሱ ውስተ ሐዳስ ሕይወት ።
We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.
6:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ γὰρ σύμφυτοι γεγόναμεν τῷ ὁμοιώματι τοῦ θανάτου αὐτοῦ , ἀλλὰ καὶ τῆς ἀναστάσεως ἐσόμεθα ·
Si enim complantati facti sumus similitudini mortis ejus : simul et resurrectionis erimus .
ወእመሰኬ ተመሰልናሁ በሞቱ ንትሜሰሎ በሕይወቱሂ ።
For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection;
6:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῦτο γινώσκοντες , ὅτι ὁ παλαιὸς ἡμῶν ἄνθρωπος συνεσταυρώθη , ἵνα καταργηθῇ τὸ σῶμα τῆς ἁμαρτίας , τοῦ μηκέτι δουλεύειν ἡμᾶς τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ ·
Hoc scientes , quia vetus homo noster simul crucifixus est , ut destruatur corpus peccati , et ultra non serviamus peccato .
ወዘንተ ባሕቱ አእምሩ ከመ ብሉይ ብእሲነ ውእቱ ዘተሰቅለ ምስሌሁ ከመ ይስዐሮ ለነፍስተ ኀጢአት ወኢይገብእ ዳግመ ይትቀነይ ለኀጢአት ።
knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.
6:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ γὰρ ἀποθανὼν δεδικαίωται ἀπὸ τῆς ἁμαρτίας .
Qui enim mortuus est , justificatus est a peccato .
እስመ ዘሞተሰ ድኅነ እምገቢረ ኀጢአት ።
For he who has died has been freed from sin.
6:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ δὲ ἀπεθάνομεν σὺν Χριστῷ , πιστεύομεν ὅτι καὶ συζήσομεν αὐτῷ ·
Si autem mortui sumus cum Christo , credimus quia simul etiam vivemus cum Christo ,
ወእምከመሰ ሞትነ ምስሌሁ ለክርስቶስ ንትአመን ከመሂ ነሐዩ ምስሌሁ ።
But if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him,
6:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰδότες ὅτι Χριστὸς ἐγερθεὶς ἐκ νεκρῶν οὐκέτι ἀποθνῄσκει , θάνατος αὐτοῦ οὐκέτι κυριεύει .
scientes quod Christus resurgens ex mortuis jam non moritur : mors illi ultra non dominabitur .
ተአምሩ ከመ ተንሥአ ክርስቶስ እምዉታን ወኢይመውት እንከ ዳግመ ወኢይረክቦ እንከ ሞት ።
knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over him!
6:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὃ γὰρ ἀπέθανεν , τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ ἀπέθανεν ἐφάπαξ · ὃ δὲ ζῇ , ζῇ τῷ θεῷ .
Quod enim mortuus est peccato , mortuus est semel : quod autem vivit , vivit Deo .
ወዘኒ ሞተ ምዕረ ሞተ ወበሞቱ ሰዐራ ለኀጢአት ወዘኒ ሐይወ ለእግዚአብሔር ሐይወ ።
For the death that he died, he died to sin one time; but the life that he lives, he lives to God.
6:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὕτως καὶ ὑμεῖς λογίζεσθε ἑαυτοὺς εἶναι νεκροὺς μὲν τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ ζῶντας δὲ τῷ θεῷ ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ .
Ita et vos existimate vos mortuos quidem esse peccato , viventes autem Deo , in Christo Jesu Domino nostro .
ወከማሁ አንትሙኒ ረስዩ ርእሰክሙ ምዉታነ ለኀጢአት ወሕያዋነ ኩኑ ለፈቃደ እግዚአብሔር በእንተ እግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ።
Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
6:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ μὴ οὖν βασιλευέτω ἡ ἁμαρτία ἐν τῷ θνητῷ ὑμῶν σώματι εἰς τὸ ὑπακούειν ταῖς ἐπιθυμίαις αὐτοῦ ,
Non ergo regnet peccatum in vestro mortali corpore ut obediatis concupiscentiis ejus .
ወኢታንግሥዋ ለኀጢአት ላዕለ ዝንቱ ሥጋክሙ ወነፍስትክሙ መዋቲ ወኢትበልዎ ኦሆ ለፍትወቱ ።
Therefore don’t let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
6:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ μηδὲ παριστάνετε τὰ μέλη ὑμῶν ὅπλα ἀδικίας τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ , ἀλλὰ παραστήσατε ἑαυτοὺς τῷ θεῷ ὡσεὶ ἐκ νεκρῶν ζῶντας καὶ τὰ μέλη ὑμῶν ὅπλα δικαιοσύνης τῷ θεῷ ·
Sed neque exhibeatis membra vestra arma iniquitatis peccato : sed exhibete vos Deo , tamquam ex mortuis viventes : et membra vestra arma justitiae Deo .
ወኢትረስይዎ ለነፍስትክሙ ንዋየ ሐቅል ለዐመፃ ወለኀጢአት አላ ረስዩ ርእሰክሙ ለእግዚአብሔር ከመ ዘተንሥአ እምዉታን ወለነፍስትክሙ ለእግዚአብሔር ንዋየ ሐቅል ለጽድቅ ።
Also, do not present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
6:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἁμαρτία γὰρ ὑμῶν οὐ κυριεύσει , οὐ γάρ ἐστε ὑπὸ νόμον ἀλλὰ ὑπὸ χάριν .
Peccatum enim vobis non dominabitur : non enim sub lege estis , sed sub gratia .
ወኀጢአትሰ ኢትኴንነክሙ እንከ እስመ ወፃእክሙ እምገቢረ ሕገገ ኦሪት ወገባእክሙ ውስተ ጸጋ እግዚአብሔር ።
For sin will not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace.
6:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τί οὖν ; ἁμαρτήσωμεν ὅτι οὐκ ἐσμὲν ὑπὸ νόμον ἀλλὰ ὑπὸ χάριν ; μὴ γένοιτο .
Quid ergo ? peccabimus , quoniam non sumus sub lege , sed sub gratia ? Absit .
ምንተ እንከ ንብል ንግበርኑ ኀጢአተ እስመ ወፃእነ እምገቢረ ሕገገ ኦሪት ወገባእነ ውስተ ጸጋ እግዚአብሔር ሐሰ ።
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be!
6:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι ᾧ παριστάνετε ἑαυτοὺς δούλους εἰς ὑπακοήν , δοῦλοί ἐστε ᾧ ὑπακούετε , ἤτοι ἁμαρτίας εἰς θάνατον ἢ ὑπακοῆς εἰς δικαιοσύνην ;
Nescitis quoniam cui exhibetis vos servos ad obediendum , servi estis ejus , cui obeditis , sive peccati ad mortem , sive obeditionis ad justitiam ?
ወኢተአምሩኑ ከመ ለዘተአዘዝክሙ ወለዘሂ ኦሆ ትቤሉ አግብርቲሁ አንትሙ ወውስተ ዘኀበርክሙ ሎቱ አቅነይክሙ ርእሰክሙ እመሂ ለኀጢአት ኦሆ ትብልዋ ወኀበርክሙ ተአብሱ አግብርቲሁ አንትሙ ትከውኑ ለሞት ወእመሂ ለጽድቅ ኦሆ ትብልዋ ወኀበርክሙ ውስተ ሠናይ አግብርተ እግዚአብሔር አንትሙ ።
Don’t you know that when you present yourselves as servants and obey someone, you are the servants of whomever you obey, whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?
6:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ χάρις δὲ τῷ θεῷ ὅτι ἦτε δοῦλοι τῆς ἁμαρτίας ὑπηκούσατε δὲ ἐκ καρδίας εἰς ὃν παρεδόθητε τύπον διδαχῆς ,
Gratias autem Deo quod fuistis servi peccati , obedistis autem ex corde in eam formam doctrinae , in quam traditi estis .
እኩት እግዚአብሔር እንዘ አግብርተ ኀጢአት አንትሙ ተአዘዝክሙ በኵሉ ልብክሙ ለዘተውህበ ለክሙ አርኣያሁ ለዘትትሜሀሩ ።
But thanks be to God that, whereas you were bondservants of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were delivered.
6:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐλευθερωθέντες δὲ ἀπὸ τῆς ἁμαρτίας ἐδουλώθητε τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ ·
Liberati autem a peccato , servi facti estis justitiae .
ወይእዜሰ ተግዕዝክሙ እምኀጢአት ወተቀነይክሙ ለጽድቅ ።
Being made free from sin, you became bondservants of righteousness.
6:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀνθρώπινον λέγω διὰ τὴν ἀσθένειαν τῆς σαρκὸς ὑμῶν . ὥσπερ γὰρ παρεστήσατε τὰ μέλη ὑμῶν δοῦλα τῇ ἀκαθαρσίᾳ καὶ τῇ ἀνομίᾳ εἰς τὴν ἀνομίαν , οὕτως νῦν παραστήσατε τὰ μέλη ὑμῶν δοῦλα τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ εἰς ἁγιασμόν .
Humanum dico , propter infirmitatem carnis vestrae : sicut enim exhibuistis membra vestra servire immunditiae , et iniquitati ad iniquitatem , ita nunc exhibete membra vestra servire justitiae in sanctificationem .
ሕገ ሰብእ እብለክሙ እስመ ድኩም ቱስሕተ ነፍስትክሙ ዑቁ በከመ ቀዲሙ አቅነይክሙ ርእሰክሙ ለኀጢአት ወለርኵስ ወለጣዖት ከማሁ ይእዜኒ አቅንዩ ነፍስተክሙ ለጽድቅ ወለቅድሳት ።
I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh; for as you presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to wickedness upon wickedness, even so now present your members as servants to righteousness for sanctification.
6:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτε γὰρ δοῦλοι ἦτε τῆς ἁμαρτίας , ἐλεύθεροι ἦτε τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ .
Cum enim servi essetis peccati , liberi fuistis justitiae .
እስመ አመ ተቀነይክሙ ለኀጢአት ግዑዛነ ኮንክሙ እምጽድቅ ።
For when you were servants of sin, you were free from righteousness.
6:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ τίνα οὖν καρπὸν εἴχετε τότε ἐφ’ οἷς νῦν ἐπαισχύνεσθε ; τὸ γὰρ τέλος ἐκείνων θάνατος .
Quem ergo fructum habuistis tunc in illis , in quibus nunc erubescitis ? nam finis illorum mors est .
ወበውእቱ ፍሬክሙ ዘአሜሁ ናሁ ይእዜ ትትኀፈሩ ቦቱ እስመ ድኅሬሁ ሎቱ ሞት ።
What fruit then did you have at that time in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
6:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ νυνὶ δέ , ἐλευθερωθέντες ἀπὸ τῆς ἁμαρτίας δουλωθέντες δὲ τῷ θεῷ , ἔχετε τὸν καρπὸν ὑμῶν εἰς ἁγιασμόν , τὸ δὲ τέλος ζωὴν αἰώνιον .
Nunc vero liberati a peccato , servi autem facti Deo , habetis fructum vestrum in sanctificationem , finem vero vitam aeternam .
ወይእዜሰ ተግዕዝክሙ እምኀጢአት ወአቅነይክሙ ርእሰክሙ ለጽድቅ ወፈረይክሙ ለቅድሳት ወማኅለቅቱሰ ሕይወት ዘለዓለም ።
But now, being made free from sin and having become servants of God, you have your fruit of sanctification and the result of eternal life.
6:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ τὰ γὰρ ὀψώνια τῆς ἁμαρτίας θάνατος , τὸ δὲ χάρισμα τοῦ θεοῦ ζωὴ αἰώνιος ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ τῷ κυρίῳ ἡμῶν .
Stipendia enim peccati , mors . Gratia autem Dei , vita aeterna , in Christo Jesu Domino nostro .
እስመ ተግባራሰ ለኀጢአት ወረባሐ ዚኣሃ ሞት ወለጸጋ እግዚአብሔርሰ ሕይወት ዘለዓለም በእግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ።
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
