11:1
σοφία ταπεινοῦ ἀνυψώσει κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν μέσῳ μεγιστάνων καθίσει αὐτόν
Sapientia humiliati exaltabit caput illius, et in medio magnatorum consedere illum faciet.
ይከብር፡ ነዳይ፡ በጥበቢሁ፡ ወይነብር፡ ማእከለ፡ መኳንንት።
The wisdom of the lowly will lift up his head, And make him to sit in the midst of great men.
11:2
μὴ αἰνέσῃς ἄνδρα ἐν κάλλει αὐτοῦ καὶ μὴ βδελύξῃ ἄνθρωπον ἐν ὁράσει αὐτοῦ
Non laudes virum in specie sua, neque spernas hominem in visu suo.
ኢታድሉ፡ ለሰብእ፡ እንበይነ፡ ላሕዩ፡ ወኢታስተአክዮ፡ ለሰብእ፡ እንበይነ፡ ሕሠሚሁ።
Commend not a man for his beauty; And abhor not a man for his outward appearance.
11:3
μικρὰ ἐν πετεινοῖς μέλισσα καὶ ἀρχὴ γλυκασμάτων ὁ καρπὸς αὐτῆς
Brevis in volatilibus est apis, et initium dulcoris habet fructus illius.
እምኵሉ፡ አዕዋፍ፡ ትንዕስ፡ ንህብ፡ ወእምኵሉ፡ ይጥዕም፡ ፍሬሃ።
The bee is little among such as fly; And her fruit is the chief of sweetmeats.
11:4
ἐν περιβολῇ ἱματίων μὴ καυχήσῃ καὶ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ δόξης μὴ ἐπαίρου ὅτι θαυμαστὰ τὰ ἔργα κυρίου καὶ κρυπτὰ τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ ἀνθρώποις
In vestitu ne glorieris umquam, nec in die honoris tui extollaris : quoniam mirabilia opera Altissimi solius, et gloriosa, et absconsa, et invisa opera illius.
ኢትዘኀር፡ በሥነ፡ አልባሲከ፡ በመዋዕለ፡ ክብርከኒ፡ ኢታዕቢ፡ ርእሰከ፡ እስመ፡ ነኪር፡ ግብሩ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወኅቡእ፡ እምዕጓለ፡ እመሕያው፡ ኪኑ።
Glory not in the putting on of raiment, And exalt not yourself in the day of honor; For the works of the Lord are wonderful, And his works are hidden among men.
11:5
πολλοὶ τύραννοι ἐκάθισαν ἐπὶ ἐδάφους ὁ δὲ ἀνυπονόητος ἐφόρεσεν διάδημα
Multi tyranni sederunt in throno : et insuspicabilis portavit diadema.
ብዙኃን፡ መኳንንት፡ እለ፡ ወድቁ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ወቦ፡ ባሕታዊ፡ ዘተቀጸለ፡ አክሊለ።
Many kings have sat down upon the ground; And one that was never thought of has worn a diadem.
11:6
πολλοὶ δυνάσται ἠτιμάσθησαν σφόδρα καὶ ἔνδοξοι παρεδόθησαν εἰς χεῖρας ἑτέρων
Multi potentes oppressi sunt valide, et gloriosi traditi sunt in manus alterorum.
ብዙኃን፡ ዐበይት፡ እለ፡ ኀሥሩ፡ ፈድፋደ፡ ወብዙኃን፡ ክቡራን፡ እለ፡ ገብኡ፡ ታሕተ፡ ባዕድ።
Many mighty men have been greatly disgraced; And men of renown have been delivered into other men’s hands.
11:7
πρὶν ἐξετάσῃς μὴ μέμψῃ νόησον πρῶτον καὶ τότε ἐπιτίμα
Priusquam interroges, ne vituperes quemquam : et cum interrogaveris, corripe juste.
ኢትኂስ፡ ዘእንበለ፡ ትሕትቶ፡ ጠይቅ፡ ቅድመ፡ ወድኅረ፡ ትጌሥጽ።
Blame not before you have examined: Understand first, and then rebuke.
11:8
πρὶν ἢ ἀκοῦσαι μὴ ἀποκρίνου καὶ ἐν μέσῳ λόγων μὴ παρεμβάλλου
Priusquam audias, ne respondeas verbum : et in medio sermonum ne adjicias loqui.
ዘእንበለ፡ ትስማዕ፡ ኢታውሥእ፡ ወውስተ፡ ነገረ፡ ባዕድ፡ ኢትባእ።
Answer not before you have heard; And interrupt not in the midst of speech.
11:9
περὶ πράγματος οὗ οὐκ ἔστιν σοι χρεία μὴ ἔριζε καὶ ἐν κρίσει ἁμαρτωλῶν μὴ συνέδρευε
De ea re quæ te non molestat, ne certeris : et in judicio peccantium ne consistas.
ወውስተ፡ ዘኢኮነ፡ ትካዝከ፡ ኢትትኀለፍ፡ ወኢትሳነን፡ በቀስተ፡ ጊጉይ።
Strive not in a matter that concerns you not; And where sinners judge, sit not you with them.
11:10
τέκνον μὴ περὶ πολλὰ ἔστωσαν αἱ πράξεις σου ἐὰν πληθύνῃς οὐκ ἀθῳωθήσῃ καὶ ἐὰν διώκῃς οὐ μὴ καταλάβῃς καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐκφύγῃς διαδράς
Fili, ne in multis sint actus tui : et si dives fueris, non eris immunis a delicto. Si enim secutus fueris, non apprehendes : et non effugies, si præcucurreris.
ወልድየ፡ ኢታብዝኅ፡ ተግባረከ፡ እስመ፡ ለእመ፡ አብዛኅከ፡ ትጸደቅ፡ ኢያበውሐከ፡ ወኢታመሥጥ፡ ለእመ፡ ሮጽከ፡ ወኢትረክባ፡ ለእመ፡ ዴገንከ፡ ለጽድቅ።
My son, be not busy about many matters: For if you meddle much, you will not be unpunished; And if you pursue, you will not overtake; And you will not escape by fleeing.
11:11
ἔστιν κοπιῶν καὶ πονῶν καὶ σπεύδων καὶ τόσῳ μᾶλλον ὑστερεῖται
Est homo laborans et festinans, et dolens : impius, et tanto magis non abundabit.
እስመ፡ ቦ፡ ዘይጔጕእ፡ ወይሠርሕ፡ ወይጻሙ፡ ወፈድፋደ፡ ይጼነስ።
There is one that toileth, and labores, and makes haste, And is so much the more behind.
11:12
ἔστιν νωθρὸς προσδεόμενος ἀντιλήμψεως ὑστερῶν ἰσχύι καὶ πτωχείᾳ περισσεύει καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ κυρίου ἐπέβλεψαν αὐτῷ εἰς ἀγαθά καὶ ἀνώρθωσεν αὐτὸν ἐκ ταπεινώσεως αὐτοῦ
Est homo marcidus egens recuperatione, plus deficiens virtute, et abundans paupertate :
ወቦ፡ እንዘ፡ ድኩም፡ ውእቱ፡ ኢይስእል፡ ወዘይመልክ፡ ወኢይክል፡ ምንተኒ፡ ወለእመኒ፡ ጸንዐ፡ ፈድፋደ፡ ይጼነስ፡ ወለአመ፡ ነጸሮ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ በሠናይ፡ ያነሥኦ፡ እምተጽናሱ።
There is one that is sluggish, and has need of help, Lacking in strength, and that abounds in poverty; And the eyes of the Lord looked upon him for good, And he set him up from his low estate,
11:13
καὶ ἀνύψωσεν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπεθαύμασαν ἐπ’ αὐτῷ πολλοί
et oculus Dei respexit illum in bono, et erexit eum ab humilitate ipsius, et exaltavit caput ejus : et mirati sunt in illo multi, et honoraverunt Deum.
ወያዐብዮ፡ ወያከብሮ፡ ወያነክርዎ፡ ብዙኃን።
And lifted up his head; And many marveled at him.
11:14
ἀγαθὰ καὶ κακά ζωὴ καὶ θάνατος πτωχεία καὶ πλοῦτος παρὰ κυρίου ἐστίν
Bona et mala, vita et mors, paupertas et honestas, a Deo sunt :
ሠናይትኒ፡ ወእኪትኒ።
Good things and evil, life and death, Poverty and riches, are from the Lord.
11:15—
sapientia, et disciplina, et scientia legis, apud Deum : dilectio, et viæ bonorum, apud ipsum.
ሐይውኒ፡ ወመዊትኒ።
Wisdom and discipline and the knowledge of the law are with God; love and the ways of the good are with him.
11:17
δόσις κυρίου παραμένει εὐσεβέσιν καὶ ἡ εὐδοκία αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα εὐοδωθήσεται
Datio Dei permanet justis, et profectus illius successus habebit in æternum.
ጸጋሁ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ትዜውሮሙ፡ ለጻድቃን፡ ወፈቃዱሂ፡ ያስተፌሥሕ፡ ዓለመ።
The gift of the Lord remains with the godly, And his good pleasure will prosper forever.
11:18
ἔστιν πλουτῶν ἀπὸ προσοχῆς καὶ σφιγγίας αὐτοῦ καὶ αὕτη ἡ μερὶς τοῦ μισθοῦ αὐτοῦ
Est qui locupletatur parce agendo, et hæc est pars mercedis illius.
ሀሎ፡ ዘይብዕል፡ በብዝኀ፡ ጠዊዕ፡ ወእንዘ፡ ይቄቂ፡ ወባቲ፡ ይሤልጥ፡ ትፍሥሕቶ።
There is that waxes rich by his wariness and pinching, And this is the portion of his reward:
11:19
ἐν τῷ εἰπεῖν αὐτόν εὗρον ἀνάπαυσιν καὶ νῦν φάγομαι ἐκ τῶν ἀγαθῶν μου καὶ οὐκ οἶδεν τίς καιρὸς παρελεύσεται καὶ καταλείψει αὐτὰ ἑτέροις καὶ ἀποθανεῖται
In eo quod dicit : Inveni requiem mihi, et nunc manducabo de bonis meis solus :
ወአመ፡ ተሰፈወ፡ ያዕርፍ፡ ወአመ፡ ይብል፡ እበልዕ፡ ወእሰቲ፡ እንከሰ፡ እፌግዕ፡ ወአእከልኩ፡ ወኢየአምር፡ ዕለት፡ እንተ፡ ትበጽሖ፡ ወየኅድግ፡ ኵሎ፡ ለባዕድ፡ ወይመውት፡ ውእቱ።
When he says, I have found rest, And now will I eat of my goods; Yet he knows not what time will pass, And he will leave them to others, and die.
11:20
στῆθι ἐν διαθήκῃ σου καὶ ὁμίλει ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ ἐν τῷ ἔργῳ σου παλαιώθητι
et nescit quod tempus præteriet, et mors appropinquet, et relinquat omnia aliis, et morietur.
ቁም፡ በፍርሀተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወቦቱ፡ ተመሀር፡ ወርሳዕ፡ በተግባርከ።
Be stedfast in your covenant, and be conversant therein, And wax old in your work.
11:21
μὴ θαύμαζε ἐν ἔργοις ἁμαρτωλοῦ πίστευε δὲ κυρίῳ καὶ ἔμμενε τῷ πόνῳ σου ὅτι κοῦφον ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς κυρίου διὰ τάχους ἐξάπινα πλουτίσαι πένητα
Sta in testamento tuo, et in illo colloquere, et in opere mandatorum tuorum veterasce.
ወኢያፍቱከ፡ ግብሮሙ፡ ለኃጥኣን፡ ተአመን፡ በእግዚአብሔር፡ ወተሰፈዎ፡ ለጻማከ፡ እስመ፡ ቀሊል፡ በኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ኵሉ፡ ለምዕር፡ ወግብተ፡ ያብዕሎ፡ ለነዳይ።
Marvel not at the works of a sinner; But trust the Lord, and abide in your labor: For it is an easy thing in the sight of the Lord swiftly on the sudden to make a poor man rich.
11:22
εὐλογία κυρίου ἐν μισθῷ εὐσεβοῦς καὶ ἐν ὥρᾳ ταχινῇ ἀναθάλλει εὐλογίαν αὐτοῦ
Ne manseris in operibus peccatorum : confide autem in Deo, et mane in loco tuo.
በረከተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዕሴቶሙ፡ ለጻድቃን፡ ወትትባዛኅ፡ በረከቱ፡ ለጻድቅ።
The blessing of the Lord is in the reward of the godly; And in an hour that comes swiftly he makes his blessing to flourish.
11:23
μὴ εἴπῃς τίς ἐστίν μου χρεία καὶ τίνα ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν ἔσται μου τὰ ἀγαθά
Facile est enim in oculis Dei subito honestare pauperem.
ወኢትበል፡ ኢይፈቅድ፡ እንከ፡ ወኢትበል፡ አልብየ፡ ዕሴት፡ እንከ።
Say not, What use is there of me? And what from henceforth will my good things be?
11:24
μὴ εἴπῃς αὐτάρκη μοί ἐστιν καὶ τί ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν κακωθήσομαι
Benedictio Dei in mercedem justi festinat, et in hora veloci processus illius fructificat.
እምይእዜሰ፡ አከለኒ፡ ወእምይእዜሰ፡ ኢይጼነስ፡ እንከ።
Say not, I have sufficient, And from henceforth what harm will happen to me?
11:25
ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἀγαθῶν ἀμνησία κακῶν καὶ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κακῶν οὐ μνησθήσεται ἀγαθῶν
Ne dicas : Quid est mihi opus ? et quæ erunt mihi ex hoc bona ?
አመ፡ ዕለተ፡ ሠናይት፡ ይረስዕዋ፡ ለእኪት፡ ወአመ፡ ዕለተ፡ እኪት፡ ይረስዕዋ፡ ለሠናይት።
In the day of good things there is a forgetfulness of evil things; And in the day of evil things a man will not remember things that are good.
11:26
ὅτι κοῦφον ἔναντι κυρίου ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τελευτῆς ἀποδοῦναι ἀνθρώπῳ κατὰ τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτοῦ
Ne dicas : Sufficiens mihi sum : et quid ex hoc pessimabor ?
እስመ፡ ቀሊል፡ በኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዕለተ፡ ሞት፡ እስመ፡ ይፈድዮ፡ ለሰብእ፡ በከመ፡ ግዕዙ።
For it is an easy thing in the sight of the Lord To reward a man in the day of death according to his ways.
11:27
κάκωσις ὥρας ἐπιλησμονὴν ποιεῖ τρυφῆς καὶ ἐν συντελείᾳ ἀνθρώπου ἀποκάλυψις ἔργων αὐτοῦ
In die bonorum ne immemor sis malorum, et in die malorum ne immemor sis bonorum :
በእኪት፡ ዕለት፡ ይከሪ፡ ጽጋብ፡ ወበደኃሪቱ፡ ለሰብእ፡ ይትዐወቅ፡ ምግባሩ።
The affliction of an hour causes forgetfulness of delight; And in the last end of a man is the revelation of his deeds.
11:28
πρὸ τελευτῆς μὴ μακάριζε μηδένα καὶ ἐν τέκνοις αὐτοῦ γνωσθήσεται ἀνήρ
quoniam facile est coram Deo in die obitus retribuere unicuique secundum vias suas.
ወኢትበሎ፡ ለሰብእ፡ ብፁዕ፡ ዘእንበለ፡ ትርአይ፡ ደኃሪቶ፡ ወበላዕለ፡ ውሉዱ፡ ያስተርኢ፡ ንብረቱ፡ ለሰብእ።
Call no man blessed before his death; And a man will be known in his children.
11:29
μὴ πάντα ἄνθρωπον εἴσαγε εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου πολλὰ γὰρ τὰ ἔνεδρα τοῦ δολίου
Malitia horæ oblivionem facit luxuriæ magnæ, et in fine hominis denudatio operum illius.
ኢታብእ፡ ኵሎ፡ ሰብእ፡ ዘረከብከ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤትከ፡ እስመ፡ በብዙኀ፡ ይጠበበከ፡ ጕሕልያ።
Bring not every man into your house; For many are the plots of the deceitful man.
11:30
πέρδιξ θηρευτὴς ἐν καρτάλλῳ οὕτως καρδία ὑπερηφάνου καὶ ὡς ὁ κατάσκοπος ἐπιβλέπει πτῶσιν
Ante mortem ne laudes hominem quemquam : quoniam in filiis suis agnoscitur vir.
ቆቃሕ፡ ተሠግረ፡ በቈጽለ፡ አስርቆ፡ ከማሁ፡ ልቡ፡ ለእቡይ፡ ወከመ፡ ሰብአ፡ ዐይን፡ ይትሔዘባ፡ ለድቀቱ።
As a decoy partridge in a cage, so is the heart of a proud man; And as one that is a spy, he looks upon your falling.
11:31
τὰ γὰρ ἀγαθὰ εἰς κακὰ μεταστρέφων ἐνεδρεύει καὶ ἐν τοῖς αἱρετοῖς ἐπιθήσει μῶμον
Non omnem hominem inducas in domum tuam : multæ enim sunt insidiæ dolosi.
መጠነ፡ ሠናይት፡ እኪተ፡ የዐስየከ፡ ጕሕልያ፡ ወይገብር፡ ለከ፡ ነውረ፡ በዘአልብከ።
For he lies in wait to turn things that are good into evil; And in things that are praiseworthy he will lay blame.
11:32
ἀπὸ σπινθῆρος πυρὸς πληθύνεται ἀνθρακιά καὶ ἄνθρωπος ἁμαρτωλὸς εἰς αἷμα ἐνεδρεύει
Sicut enim eructant præcordia fœtentium, et sicut perdix inducitur in caveam, et ut caprea in laqueum : sic et cor superborum, et sicut prospector videns casum proximi sui.
በብዝኀ፡ ትንታጉ፡ ለእሳት፡ ይበዝኅ፡ ፍሕሙ፡ ወብእሲሰ፡ ኃጥእ፡ ይንዕዋ፡ ለነፍሱ።
From a spark of fire a heap of many coals is kindled; And a sinful man lies in wait for blood.
11:33
πρόσεχε ἀπὸ κακούργου πονηρὰ γὰρ τεκταίνει μήποτε μῶμον εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα δῷ σοι
Bona enim in mala convertens insidiatur, et in electis imponet maculam.
ተዐቀብ፡ እምነ፡ እኩይ፡ እስመ፡ እኪተ፡ ይፈጥር፡ ከመ፡ ኢይግበር፡ ለዝሉፉ፡ ጽዕለተ፡ ላዕሌከ።
Take heed of an evil-doer, for he contriveth wicked things; Lest haply he bring upon you blame forever.
11:34
ἐνοίκισον ἀλλότριον καὶ διαστρέψει σε ἐν ταραχαῖς καὶ ἀπαλλοτριώσει σε τῶν ἰδίων σου
A scintilla una augetur ignis, et ab uno doloso augetur sanguis : homo vero peccator sanguini insidiatur.
ለእመ፡ አኅደርከ፡ ነኪረ፡ ምስሌከ፡ የሀውከከ፡ ወየዐልወከ፡ ወያወፅአከ፡ እምንዋይከ።
Receive a stranger into your house, and he will distract you with brawls, And estrange you from your own.
