26:1
γυναικὸς ἀγαθῆς μακάριος ὁ ἀνήρ καὶ ἀριθμὸς τῶν ἡμερῶν αὐτοῦ διπλάσιος
Mulieris bonæ beatus vir : numerus enim annorum illius duplex.
ለብእሲት፡ ኄርት፡ ያበጽዕ፡ ምታ፡ ወይትመክዐብ፡ መዋዕለ፡ ሕይወቱ።
Happy is the husband of a good wife; And the number of his days will be twofold.
26:2
γυνὴ ἀνδρεία εὐφραίνει τὸν ἄνδρα αὐτῆς καὶ τὰ ἔτη αὐτοῦ πληρώσει ἐν εἰρήνῃ
Mulier fortis oblectat virum suum, et annos vitæ illius in pace implebit.
ብእሲት፡ ዕብራዊት፡ ታስተፌሥሖ፡ ለምታ፡ ወይፌጽም፡ መዋዕሊሁ፡ በሰላም።
A brave woman rejoices her husband; And he will fulfil his years in peace.
26:3
γυνὴ ἀγαθὴ μερὶς ἀγαθή ἐν μερίδι φοβουμένων κύριον δοθήσεται
Pars bona mulier bona, in parte timentium Deum dabitur viro pro factis bonis :
ብእሱት፡ ኄርት፡ ሠናይ፡ መክፈል[ት]፡ ወ[ት]በጽሖ፡ ለፈራሄ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ውስተ፡ መክፈልቱ።
A good wife is a good portion: She will be given in the portion of such as fear the Lord.
26:4
πλουσίου δὲ καὶ πτωχοῦ καρδία ἀγαθή ἐν παντὶ καιρῷ πρόσωπον ἱλαρόν
divitis autem et pauperis cor bonum, in omni tempore vultus illorum hilaris.
ለባዕልኒ፡ ወለነዳይኒ፡ ልቡ፡ ይሠኒ፡ ወለዝሉፉ፡ ብሩሀ፡ ይኩን፡ ገጽከ።
Whether a man be rich or poor, A good heart makes at all times a cheerful countenance.
26:5
ἀπὸ τριῶν εὐλαβήθη ἡ καρδία μου καὶ ἐπὶ τῷ τετάρτῳ προσώπῳ ἐδεήθην διαβολὴν πόλεως καὶ ἐκκλησίαν ὄχλου καὶ καταψευσμόν ὑπὲρ θάνατον πάντα μοχθηρά
A tribus timuit cor meum, et in quarto facies mea metuit :
እምእሉ፡ ሠለስቱ፡ ደንገጸኒ፡ ልብየ፡ ወራብዕሰ፡ አፍርሀኒ፡ ገጽየ፡ ማዕሌተ፡ ሀገር፡ ወእንግልጋ፡ አሕዛብ፡ ወስምዐ፡ ሐሰት፡ ላዕለ፡ ነፍስ፡ ዘያበጽሕ፡ ለሞት።
Of three things my heart was afraid; And concerning the fourth kind I made supplication: The slander of a city, and the assembly of a multitude, and a false accusation: All these are more grievous than death.
26:6
ἄλγος καρδίας καὶ πένθος γυνὴ ἀντίζηλος ἐπὶ γυναικὶ καὶ μάστιξ γλώσσης πᾶσιν ἐπικοινωνοῦσα
delaturam civitatis, et collectionem populi :
ቊስል፡ ይእቲ፡ ለልብ፡ ወላሕ፡ ይእቲ፡ ለነፍስ፡ ብእሲት፡ እንተ፡ ታስተቃንእ፡ ከመ፡ መቅሠፍተ፡ ልሳን፡ ትዔሪ፡ በኵሉ፡ እኩይ።
A grief of heart and sorrow is a woman that is jealous of another woman, And the scourge of a tongue communicating to all.
26:7
βοοζύγιον σαλευόμενον γυνὴ πονηρά ὁ κρατῶν αὐτῆς ὡς ὁ δρασσόμενος σκορπίου
calumniam mendacem super mortem omnia gravia :
ከመ፡ አርዑተ፡ ብዕራ፡ ዘያንቀለቅል፡ ከማሁ፡ ብእሲት፡ እኪት፡ ወዘይነብር፡ ምስሌሃ፡ ከመ፡ ዘይፀብጥ፡ ዐቅረበ።
A wicked woman is as a yoke of oxen shaken to and fro: He that takes hold of her is as one that graspeth a scorpion.
26:8
ὀργὴ μεγάλη γυνὴ μέθυσος καὶ ἀσχημοσύνην αὐτῆς οὐ συγκαλύψει
dolor cordis et luctus, mulier zelotypa.
ዐቢይ፡ መንሱት፡ ይእቲ፡ ብእሲት፡ ሰካሪት፡ እንተ፡ ኢትክል፡ ኀፍረታ፡ ከዲነ።
A drunken woman causes great wrath; And she will not cover her own shame.
26:9
πορνεία γυναικὸς ἐν μετεωρισμοῖς ὀφθαλμῶν καὶ ἐν τοῖς βλεφάροις αὐτῆς γνωσθήσεται
In muliere zelotypa flagellum linguæ, omnibus communicans.
ዝሙታ፡ ለብእሲት፡ ይትዐወቅ፡ እምአዕይንቲሃ፡ ወይትአመር፡ በቀራንብቲሃ።
The whoredom of a woman is in the lifting up of her eyes; And it will be known by her eyelids.
26:10
ἐπὶ θυγατρὶ ἀδιατρέπτῳ στερέωσον φυλακήν ἵνα μὴ εὑροῦσα ἄνεσιν ἑαυτῇ χρήσηται
Sicut boum jugum quod movetur, ita et mulier nequam : qui tenet illam quasi qui apprehendit scorpionem.
ወለወለትከኒ፡ አጽንዓ፡ ዐቂቦታ፡ ለእመ፡ ሥኅተት፡ ከመ፡ ኢታማስን፡ ርእሳ።
Keep strict watch on a headstrong daughter, Lest she find liberty for herself, and use it.
26:11
ὀπίσω ἀναιδοῦς ὀφθαλμοῦ φύλαξαι καὶ μὴ θαυμάσῃς ἐὰν εἰς σὲ πλημμελήσῃ
Mulier ebriosa ira magna, et contumelia : et turpitudo illius non tegetur.
ወተዐቀብ፡ እምነ፡ ዐይነ፡[መ]ታሂ፤ከመ፡ ኢትግባእ፡ ትነስሕ፡ ለእመቦ፡ ዘብእሰከ።
Look well after an impudent eye; And marvel not if it trespass against you.
26:12
ὡς διψῶν ὁδοιπόρος τὸ στόμα ἀνοίξει καὶ ἀπὸ παντὸς ὕδατος τοῦ σύνεγγυς πίεται κατέναντι παντὸς πασσάλου καθήσεται καὶ ἔναντι βέλους ἀνοίξει φαρέτραν
Fornicatio mulieris in extollentia oculorum, et in palpebris illius agnoscetur.
ከመ፡ ይልሕስ፡ ጽሙእ፡ ወይሰቲ፡ እምኵሉ፡ ማይ፡ ዘቀርበ፡ ወያጸልል፡ ታሕተ፡ ኵሉ፡ ዕፀው፡ ወከመ፡ ዘያወጽእ፡ አሕጻሁ፡ እምጕንጳሁ።
She will open her mouth, as a thirsty traveller, And drink of every water that is near: At every post will she sit down, And open her quiver against any arrow.
26:13
χάρις γυναικὸς τέρψει τὸν ἄνδρα αὐτῆς καὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ αὐτοῦ πιανεῖ ἡ ἐπιστήμη αὐτῆς
In filia non avertente se, firma custodiam, ne inventa occasione utatur se.
ሞገሳ፡ ለብእሲት፡ ያስተፌሥሖ፡ ለምታ፡ ወጥበቢሃ፡ ያጠልሎ፡ ለአዕፅምቲሁ።
The grace of a wife will delight her husband; And her knowledge will fatten his bones.
26:14
δόσις κυρίου γυνὴ σιγηρά καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἀντάλλαγμα πεπαιδευμένης ψυχῆς
Ab omni irreverentia oculorum ejus cave, et ne mireris si te neglexerit.
ፍቱ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ብእሲት፡ የዋህ፡ ወአልባቲ፡ መድሎተ፡ ነፍስ፡ ጠባብ።
A silent woman is a gift of the Lord; And there is nothing so much worth as a well-instructed soul.
26:15
χάρις ἐπὶ χάριτι γυνὴ αἰσχυντηρά καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν σταθμὸς πᾶς ἄξιος ἐγκρατοῦς ψυχῆς
Sicut viator sitiens ad fontem os aperiet, et ab omni aqua proxima bibet, et contra omnem palum sedebit, et contra omnem sagittam aperiet pharetram donec deficiat.
ሠናይት፡ በዲበ፡ በረከት፡ ብእሲት፡ ኀፋሪት፡ ወአልባቲ፡ ተውላጠ፡ ነፍስ፡ መስተዓግሥት።
A shamefast woman is grace upon grace; And there is no price worthy of a continent soul.
26:16
ἥλιος ἀνατέλλων ἐν ὑψίστοις κυρίου καὶ κάλλος ἀγαθῆς γυναικὸς ἐν κόσμῳ οἰκίας αὐτῆς
Gratia mulieris sedulæ delectabit virum suum, et ossa illius impinguabit.
ከመ፡ ፀሓይ፡ በውስተ፡ ሰማዩ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ከማሁ፡ ላሕየ፡ ሥና፡ ለብእሲት፡ ኄርት፡ በውስተ፡ ትርሲተ፡ ቤታ።
As the sun when it arises in the highest places of the Lord, So is the beauty of a good wife in the ordering of a man’s house.
26:17
λύχνος ἐκλάμπων ἐπὶ λυχνίας ἁγίας καὶ κάλλος προσώπου ἐπὶ ἡλικίᾳ στασίμῃ
Disciplina illius datum Dei est.
ከመ፡ ማኅቶተ፡ ቅድሳት፡ እንተ፡ ታበርህ፡ በዲበ፡ ተቅዋማ፡ ከማሁ፡ ላሕየ፡ ገጹ፡ ለጠቢብ፡ በሥነ፡ ግዕዙ።
As the lamp that shineth upon the holy candlestick, So is the beauty of the face in ripe age.
26:18
στῦλοι χρύσεοι ἐπὶ βάσεως ἀργυρᾶς καὶ πόδες ὡραῖοι ἐπὶ στέρνοις εὐσταθοῦς
Mulier sensata et tacita, non est immutatio eruditæ animæ.
ከመ፡ አዕማደ፡ ወርቅ፡ እለ፡ ይቀውሙ፡ ዲበ፡ ምክያደ፡ ብሩር፡ ከማሁ፡ በአተ፡ እገሪሁ፡ ለኄር፡ ዘይቀውም፡ በሠናይ።
As the golden pillars are upon a base of silver, So are beautiful feet with the breasts of one that is stedfast.
26:19—
Gratia super gratiam mulier sancta et pudorata.
—
Grace upon grace is a holy and modest woman.
26:28
ἐπὶ δυσὶ λελύπηται ἡ καρδία μου καὶ ἐπὶ τῷ τρίτῳ θυμός μοι ἐπῆλθεν ἀνὴρ πολεμιστὴς ὑστερῶν δῑ ἔνδειαν καὶ ἄνδρες συνετοὶ ἐὰν σκυβαλισθῶσιν ἐπανάγων ἀπὸ δικαιοσύνης ἐπὶ ἁμαρτίαν ὁ κύριος ἑτοιμάσει εἰς ῥομφαίαν αὐτόν
Duæ species difficiles et periculosæ mihi apparuerunt : difficile exuitur negotians a negligentia, et non justificabitur caupo a peccatis labiorum.
በእሉ፡ ሠለስቱ፡ ተከዘኒ፡ ልብየ፡ ወራብዖሙሰ፡ መዐተ፡ አምጽአ፡ ላዕሌየ፡ ብእሲ፡ መስተቃትል፡(ወተባዕ፡)ሶበ፡ የኀጥእ፡ ወይጼነስ፡ ዕደው፡ ጠቢባን፡ ለእመ፡ ስሕቱ፡ ወዘየኀድጋ፡ ለጽድቅ፡ ወይገብእ፡ ውስተ፡ ኀጢአት፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ያወድቆ፡ በኵናት።
For two things my heart is grieved; And for the third anger comes upon me: A man of war that suffers for poverty; And men of understanding that are counted as refuse: One that turns back from righteousness to sin; The Lord will prepare him for the sword.
26:29
μόλις ἐξελεῖται ἔμπορος ἀπὸ πλημμελείας καὶ οὐ δικαιωθήσεται κάπηλος ἀπὸ ἁμαρτίας
—
እምዕጹብ፡ ይድኅን፡ ሠያጢ፡ እምኀጢአት፡ ወኢይጸድቅ፡ መያሲ፡ እምዐምፆት።
A merchant shall hardly keep himself from wrong doing; And a huckster will not be acquitted of sin.
