ℹ️ This corpus has no morphological tagging. Glosses are matched by word form against a dictionary — a match does not prove it is the same word (an inflected form can coincide with another word’s lemma). Verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).
13:113
For to do this is to kill a man, to deny him the helps owed to his life. You too are a hireling on this earth: give the hireling his wage, that you also may be able to say to the Lord when you pray: 'Give a reward to those who wait upon You.' Tobit says to you: 'Excess is the mother of hunger,' wherein he teaches continence. He says also: 'The wage of every man who shall have worked for you, render it the same day, and let not a man's wage remain with you; and your reward shall not be diminished.' He says to you: 'Do not drink wine unto drunkenness.' He says to you: 'Share your bread with the hungry' -- you see what return he desires you to lend at interest -- 'and with your garments cover the naked. Out of all that abounds to you, give alms. At all times bless the Lord.'
13:114
in his itaque faenus aeternum est et usura perpetua.
In these things, then, there is an eternal investment and a perpetual interest.
