In the first year of Cyrus king of the Persians an ordinance was shown to Daniel, whose name was called Baltasar; and the vision and the ordinance were true, and the mighty multitude shall give thought to the ordinance, and I gave thought to it in a vision. In the third year of Cyrus king of the Persians a word was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Baltasar; and the word was true, and great was its power, and understanding was given to him in the vision.
I ate no desirable bread, and meat and wine did not enter my mouth; with oil I did not anoint myself, until I had completed the three weeks of days. And he said to me, "Daniel, man of desires, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand in your station, for I have now been sent to you." And while he was speaking this word to me, I stood up trembling.
And he said to me, "Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your face to give thought and to humble yourself before the Lord your God, your word was heard, and I have come at your word. And he said to me, "Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and to afflict yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come at your words.
And the commander of the king of the Persians had stood against me twenty-one days, and behold, Michael, one of the chief rulers, came upon him to help me, and I left him there with the commander of the king of the Persians. And he said to me, "I have come to show you what shall meet your people at the last of the days, for the vision is yet for days." "And I have come to make you understand all that shall befall your people at the last of the days, for the vision is yet for days."

And he said to me, "You know why I came to you. And now I will return to fight with the commander of the king of the Persians; and as I was going out, behold, the commander of the Greeks was coming in. And he said, "Do you know why I came to you? And now I will return to make war with the ruler of the Persians; and as I was going out, the ruler of the Greeks was coming.
And I will indeed show you the former things in a record of truth; and there was no one helping along with me in these matters except Michael the angel. But I will announce to you what is inscribed in a writing of truth; and there is not one holding firm along with me in these matters except Michael your ruler.
