1:1 Παῦλος δοῦλος θεοῦ, ἀπόστολος δὲ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ κατὰ πίστιν ἐκλεκτῶν θεοῦ καὶ ἐπίγνωσιν ἀληθείας τῆς κατ’ εὐσέβειαν上帝的僕人,耶穌基督的使徒保羅,憑着上帝選民的信心與敬虔真理的知識,Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s chosen ones and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,
1:2 ἐπ’ ἐλπίδι ζωῆς αἰωνίου, ἣν ἐπηγγείλατο ὁ ἀψευδὴς θεὸς πρὸ χρόνων αἰωνίων,盼望那無謊言的上帝在萬古之先所應許的永生,in hope of eternal life, which God, who can’t lie, promised before time began;
1:3 ἐφανέρωσεν δὲ καιροῖς ἰδίοις τὸν λόγον αὐτοῦ ἐν κηρύγματι ὃ ἐπιστεύθην ἐγὼ κατ’ ἐπιταγὴν τοῦ σωτῆρος ἡμῶν θεοῦ,到了日期,藉着傳揚的工夫把他的道顯明了;這傳揚的責任是按着上帝-我們救主的命令交託了我。but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior,
1:4 Τίτῳ γνησίῳ τέκνῳ κατὰ κοινὴν πίστιν· χάρις καὶ εἰρήνη ἀπὸ θεοῦ πατρὸς καὶ Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ τοῦ σωτῆρος ἡμῶν.現在寫信給提多,就是照着我們共信之道作我真兒子的。願恩惠、平安從父上帝和我們的救主基督耶穌歸與你!to Titus, my true child according to a common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.
1:5 Τούτου χάριν ἀπέλιπόν σε ἐν Κρήτῃ, ἵνα τὰ λείποντα ἐπιδιορθώσῃ καὶ καταστήσῃς κατὰ πόλιν πρεσβυτέρους, ὡς ἐγώ σοι διεταξάμην,我從前留你在克里特,是要你將那沒有辦完的事都辦整齊了,又照我所吩咐你的,在各城設立長老。I left you in Crete for this reason, that you would set in order the things that were lacking and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you—
1:6 εἴ τίς ἐστιν ἀνέγκλητος, μιᾶς γυναικὸς ἀνήρ, τέκνα ἔχων πιστά, μὴ ἐν κατηγορίᾳ ἀσωτίας ἢ ἀνυπότακτα.若有無可指責的人,只作一個婦人的丈夫,兒女也是信主的,沒有人告他們是放蕩不服約束的,就可以設立。if anyone is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, who are not accused of loose or unruly behavior.
1:7 δεῖ γὰρ τὸν ἐπίσκοπον ἀνέγκλητον εἶναι ὡς θεοῦ οἰκονόμον, μὴ αὐθάδη, μὴ ὀργίλον, μὴ πάροινον, μὴ πλήκτην, μὴ αἰσχροκερδῆ,監督既是上帝的管家,必須無可指責,不任性,不暴躁,不因酒滋事,不打人,不貪無義之財;For the overseer must be blameless, as God’s steward, not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain;
1:8 ἀλλὰ φιλόξενον, φιλάγαθον, σώφρονα, δίκαιον, ὅσιον, ἐγκρατῆ,樂意接待遠人,好善,莊重,公平,聖潔自持;but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled,
1:9 ἀντεχόμενον τοῦ κατὰ τὴν διδαχὴν πιστοῦ λόγου, ἵνα δυνατὸς ᾖ καὶ παρακαλεῖν ἐν τῇ διδασκαλίᾳ τῇ ὑγιαινούσῃ καὶ τοὺς ἀντιλέγοντας ἐλέγχειν.堅守所教真實的道理,就能將純正的教訓勸化人,又能把爭辯的人駁倒了。holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.
1:10 Εἰσὶν γὰρ πολλοὶ ἀνυπότακτοι, ματαιολόγοι καὶ φρεναπάται, μάλιστα οἱ ἐκ τῆς περιτομῆς,因為有許多人不服約束,說虛空話欺哄人;那奉割禮的更是這樣。For there are also many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,
1:11 οὓς δεῖ ἐπιστομίζειν, οἵτινες ὅλους οἴκους ἀνατρέπουσιν διδάσκοντες ἃ μὴ δεῖ αἰσχροῦ κέρδους χάριν.這些人的口總要堵住。他們因貪不義之財,將不該教導的教導人,敗壞人的全家。whose mouths must be stopped: men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain’s sake.
1:12 εἶπέν τις ἐξ αὐτῶν, ἴδιος αὐτῶν προφήτης, Κρῆτες ἀεὶ ψεῦσται, κακὰ θηρία, γαστέρες ἀργαί.有克里特人中的一個本地先知說:「克里特人常說謊話,乃是惡獸,又饞又懶。」One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, and idle gluttons.”
1:13 ἡ μαρτυρία αὕτη ἐστὶν ἀληθής. δι’ ἣν αἰτίαν ἔλεγχε αὐτοὺς ἀποτόμως, ἵνα ὑγιαίνωσιν ἐν τῇ πίστει,這個見證是真的。所以,你要嚴嚴地責備他們,使他們在真道上純全無疵,This testimony is true. For this cause, reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,
1:14 μὴ προσέχοντες Ἰουδαϊκοῖς μύθοις καὶ ἐντολαῖς ἀνθρώπων ἀποστρεφομένων τὴν ἀλήθειαν.不聽猶太人荒渺的言語和離棄真道之人的誡命。not paying attention to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.
1:15 πάντα καθαρὰ τοῖς καθαροῖς· τοῖς δὲ μεμιαμμένοις καὶ ἀπίστοις οὐδὲν καθαρόν, ἀλλὰ μεμίανται αὐτῶν καὶ ὁ νοῦς καὶ ἡ συνείδησις.在潔淨的人,凡物都潔淨;在污穢不信的人,甚麼都不潔淨,連心地和天良也都污穢了。To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
1:16 θεὸν ὁμολογοῦσιν εἰδέναι, τοῖς δὲ ἔργοις ἀρνοῦνται, βδελυκτοὶ ὄντες καὶ ἀπειθεῖς καὶ πρὸς πᾶν ἔργον ἀγαθὸν ἀδόκιμοι.他們說是認識上帝,行事卻和他相背;本是可憎惡的,是悖逆的,在各樣善事上是可廢棄的。They profess that they know God, but by their deeds they deny him, being abominable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.
