10:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּקַּ֨ח שְׁמוּאֵ֜ל אֶת ־פַּ֥ךְ הַשֶּׁ֛מֶן וַיִּצֹ֥ק עַל ־רֹאשׁ֖וֹ וַיִּשָּׁקֵ֑הוּ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר הֲל֗וֹא כִּֽי ־מְשָׁחֲךָ֧ יְהֹוָ֛ה עַל ־נַחֲלָת֖וֹ לְנָגִֽיד ׃
καὶ ἔλαβεν Σαμουηλ τὸν φακὸν τοῦ ἐλαίου καὶ ἐπέχεεν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐφίλησεν αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ οὐχὶ κέχρικέν σε κύριος εἰς ἄρχοντα ἐπὶ τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ σὺ ἄρξεις ἐν λαῷ κυρίου καὶ σὺ σώσεις αὐτὸν ἐκ χειρὸς ἐχθρῶν αὐτοῦ κυκλόθεν καὶ τοῦτό σοι τὸ σημεῖον ὅτι ἔχρισέν σε κύριος ἐπὶ κληρονομίαν αὐτοῦ εἰς ἄρχοντα
Tulit autem Samuel lenticulam olei , et effudit super caput ejus : et deosculatus est eum , et ait : Ecce unxit te Dominus super haereditatem suam in principem , et liberabis populum suum de manibus inimicorum ejus qui in circuitu ejus sunt . Et hoc tibi signum , quia unxit te Deus in principem .
ወነሥአ ፡ ሳሙኤል ፡ ቀርነ ፡ ቅብእ ፡ ወሶጠ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ርእሱ ፡ ወሰአሞ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ ቀብአከ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ትንግሥ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ሕዝቡ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወአንተ ፡ ትኴንኖሙ ፡ ለሕዝበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወአንተ ፡ ታድኅኖሙ ፡ እምእደ ፡ ፀሮሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ዐውዶሙ ፡ ወዝንቱ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ተኣምሪከ ፡ ከመ ፡ ቀብአከ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ትንግሥ ፡ ሳዕለ ፡ ርስቱ ።
Then Samuel took the vial of oil and poured it on his head, then kissed him and said, “Hasn’t Yahweh anointed you to be prince over his inheritance?
10:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ בְּלֶכְתְּךָ֤ הַיּוֹם֙ מֵֽעִמָּדִ֔י וּמָצָ֩אתָ֩ שְׁנֵ֨י אֲנָשִׁ֜ים עִם ־קְבֻרַ֥ת רָחֵ֛ל בִּגְב֥וּל בִּנְיָמִ֖ן בְּצֶלְצַ֑ח וְאָמְר֣וּ אֵלֶ֗יךָ נִמְצְא֤וּ הָאֲתֹנוֹת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָלַ֣כְתָּ לְבַקֵּ֔שׁ וְהִנֵּ֨ה נָטַ֤שׁ אָבִ֙יךָ֙ אֶת ־דִּבְרֵ֣י הָאֲתֹנ֔וֹת וְדָאַ֤ג לָכֶם֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר מָ֥ה אֶעֱשֶׂ֖ה לִבְנִֽי ׃
ὡς ἂν ἀπέλθῃς σήμερον ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ εὑρήσεις δύο ἄνδρας πρὸς τοῖς τάφοις Ραχηλ ἐν τῷ ὁρίῳ Βενιαμιν ἁλλομένους μεγάλα καὶ ἐροῦσίν σοι εὕρηνται αἱ ὄνοι ἃς ἐπορεύθητε ζητεῖν καὶ ἰδοὺ ὁ πατήρ σου ἀποτετίνακται τὸ ῥῆμα τῶν ὄνων καὶ ἐδαψιλεύσατο δῑ ὑμᾶς λέγων τί ποιήσω ὑπὲρ τοῦ υἱοῦ μου
Cum abieris hodie a me , invenies duos viros juxta sepulchrum Rachel in finibus Benjamin , in meridie : dicentque tibi : Inventae sunt asinae ad quas ieras perquirendas : et intermissis pater tuus asinis , sollicitus est pro vobis , et dicit : Quid faciam de filio meo ?
ሶበ ፡ ሖርከ ፡ ዮም ፡ እምኀቤየ ፡ ወትረክብ ፡ አንተ ፡ ክልኤተ ፡ ዕደወ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ደወለ ፡ ቤቴል ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብረ ፡ ብንያም ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይሜርዱ ፡ ወይብሉከ ፡ ተረክቡ ፡ አእዱጊክሙ ፡ ዘሖርክሙ ፡ ትኅሥሡ ፡ ወለአቡከሰ ፡ ኀደጎ ፡ ትካዘ ፡ አእዱግ ፡ ወይቴከዝ ፡ በእንቲአክሙ ፡ ወይብል ፡ ምንተ ፡ እሬሲ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ወልድየ ።
When you have departed from me today, then you will find two men by Rachel’s tomb, on the border of Benjamin at Zelzah. They will tell you, ‘The donkeys which you went to look for have been found; and behold, your father has stopped caring about the donkeys and is anxious for you, saying, “What shall I do for my son?”’
10:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְחָלַפְתָּ֨ מִשָּׁ֜ם וָהָ֗לְאָה וּבָ֙אתָ֙ עַד ־אֵל֣וֹן תָּב֔וֹר וּמְצָא֤וּךָ שָּׁם֙ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה אֲנָשִׁ֔ים עֹלִ֥ים אֶל ־הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים בֵּֽית ־אֵ֑ל אֶחָ֞ד נֹשֵׂ֣א ׀ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה גְדָיִ֗ים וְאֶחָד֙ נֹשֵׂ֗א שְׁלֹ֙שֶׁת֙ כִּכְּר֣וֹת לֶ֔חֶם וְאֶחָ֖ד נֹשֵׂ֥א נֵבֶל ־יָֽיִן ׃
καὶ ἀπελεύσει ἐκεῖθεν καὶ ἐπέκεινα ἥξεις ἕως τῆς δρυὸς Θαβωρ καὶ εὑρήσεις ἐκεῖ τρεῖς ἄνδρας ἀναβαίνοντας πρὸς τὸν θεὸν εἰς Βαιθηλ ἕνα αἴροντα τρία αἰγίδια καὶ ἕνα αἴροντα τρία ἀγγεῖα ἄρτων καὶ ἕνα αἴροντα ἀσκὸν οἴνου
Cumque abieris inde , et ultra transieris , et veneris ad quercum Thabor , invenient te ibi tres viri ascendentes ad Deum in Bethel , unus portans tres haedos , et alius tres tortas panis , et alius portans lagenam vini .
ወኀሊፈከ ፡ እምህየ ፡ ሶበ ፡ በጻሕከ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ዕፅ ፡ ነዋኅ ፡ ትረክብ ፡ በህየ ፡ ሠለስተ ፡ ዕደወ ፡ እንዘ ፡ የዐርጉ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤቴል ፡ አሐዱ ፡ ይነድእ ፡ ሠለስተ ፡ አጣሌ ፡ ወአሐዱ ፡ ይጸውር ፡ ሠለስተ ፡ መሳንቀ ፡ ኅብስት ፡ ወአሐዱ ፡ ይጸውር ፡ ዝቅ ፡ ወይን ።
“Then you will go on forward from there, and you will come to the oak of Tabor. Three men will meet you there going up to God to Bethel: one carrying three young goats, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a container of wine.
10:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְשָׁאֲל֥וּ לְךָ֖ לְשָׁל֑וֹם וְנָתְנ֤וּ לְךָ֙ שְׁתֵּי ־לֶ֔חֶם וְלָקַחְתָּ֖ מִיָּדָֽם ׃
καὶ ἐρωτήσουσίν σε τὰ εἰς εἰρήνην καὶ δώσουσίν σοι δύο ἀπαρχὰς ἄρτων καὶ λήμψῃ ἐκ τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῶν
Cumque te salutaverint , dabunt tibi duos panes , et accipies de manu eorum .
ወይዜንዉከ ፡ ዳኅና ፡ ብሔር ፡ ወይሁቡከ ፡ ክልኤተ ፡ ቀዳምያተ ፡ ኅብስት ፡ ወትነሥእ ፡ እምኔሆሙ ።
They will greet you and give you two loaves of bread, which you shall receive from their hand.
10:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ אַ֣חַר כֵּ֗ן תָּבוֹא֙ גִּבְעַ֣ת הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר ־שָׁ֖ם נְצִבֵ֣י פְלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וִיהִי֩ כְבֹאֲךָ֨ שָׁ֜ם הָעִ֗יר וּפָגַעְתָּ֞ חֶ֤בֶל נְבִאִים֙ יֹרְדִ֣ים מֵהַבָּמָ֔ה וְלִפְנֵיהֶ֞ם נֵ֤בֶל וְתֹף֙ וְחָלִ֣יל וְכִנּ֔וֹר וְהֵ֖מָּה מִֽתְנַבְּאִֽים ׃
καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα εἰσελεύσῃ εἰς τὸν βουνὸν τοῦ θεοῦ οὗ ἐστιν ἐκεῖ τὸ ἀνάστημα τῶν ἀλλοφύλων ἐκεῖ Νασιβ ὁ ἀλλόφυλος καὶ ἔσται ὡς ἂν εἰσέλθητε ἐκεῖ εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ ἀπαντήσεις χορῷ προφητῶν καταβαινόντων ἐκ τῆς Βαμα καὶ ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν νάβλα καὶ τύμπανον καὶ αὐλὸς καὶ κινύρα καὶ αὐτοὶ προφητεύοντες
Post haec venies in collem Dei , ubi est statio Philisthinorum : et cum ingressus fueris ibi urbem , obvium habebis gregem prophetarum descendentium de excelso , et ante eos psalterium , et tympanum , et tibiam , et citharam , ipsosque prophetantes .
ወእምድኅረ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ትበውእ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሀሎ ፡ ህየ ፡ ምንግላጊሆሙ ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ ፡ ወህየ ፡ ሀሎ ፡ ናሴብ ፡ ኢሎፍላዊ ፡ ወእምዝ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ቦእክሙ ፡ ህየ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ትረክቡ ፡ መዝሙረ ፡ ነቢያት ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይወርዱ ፡ እምነ ፡ ባማ ፡ ወቅድሜሆሙ ፡ ማኅሌት ፡ ወከበሮ ፡ ወዕንዚራ ፡ ወመሰንቆ ፡ [ወናሁ ፡ ይትኔበዩ ።]
“After that you will come to the hill of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is; and it will happen, when you have come there to the city, that you will meet a band of prophets coming down from the high place with a lute, a tambourine, a pipe, and a harp before them; and they will be prophesying.
10:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְצָלְחָ֤ה עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ ר֣וּחַ יְהֹוָ֔ה וְהִתְנַבִּ֖יתָ עִמָּ֑ם וְנֶהְפַּכְתָּ֖ לְאִ֥ישׁ אַחֵֽר ׃
καὶ ἐφαλεῖται ἐπὶ σὲ πνεῦμα κυρίου καὶ προφητεύσεις μετ’ αὐτῶν καὶ στραφήσῃ εἰς ἄνδρα ἄλλον
Et insiliet in te spiritus Domini , et prophetabis cum eis , et mutaberis in virum alium .
ወእንዘ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይመጽእ ፡ ላዕሌከ ፡ መንፈሰ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወትትኔበይ ፡ ምስሌሆሙ ፡ ወትትመየጥ ፡ ወትከውን ፡ ካልአ ፡ ብእሴ ።
Then Yahweh’s Spirit will come mightily on you, then you will prophesy with them and will be turned into another man.
10:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהָיָ֗ה כִּ֥י (תבאינה ) [תָבֹ֛אנָה ] הָאֹת֥וֹת הָאֵ֖לֶּה לָ֑ךְ עֲשֵׂ֤ה לְךָ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּמְצָ֣א יָדֶ֔ךָ כִּ֥י הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים עִמָּֽךְ ׃
καὶ ἔσται ὅταν ἥξει τὰ σημεῖα ταῦτα ἐπὶ σέ ποίει πάντα ὅσα ἐὰν εὕρῃ ἡ χείρ σου ὅτι θεὸς μετὰ σοῦ
Quando ergo evenerint signa haec omnia tibi , fac quaecumque invenerit manus tua , quia Dominus tecum est .
ወእምዝ ፡ ሶበ ፡ በጽሐከ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ተኣምር ፡ ግበር ፡ እንከ ፡ መጠነ ፡ ትክል ፡ እዴከ ፡ እስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ምስሌከ ።
Let it be, when these signs have come to you, that you do what is appropriate for the occasion; for God is with you.
10:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְיָרַדְתָּ֣ לְפָנַי֮ הַגִּלְגָּל֒ וְהִנֵּ֤ה אָנֹכִי֙ יֹרֵ֣ד אֵלֶ֔יךָ לְהַעֲל֣וֹת עֹל֔וֹת לִזְבֹּ֖חַ זִבְחֵ֣י שְׁלָמִ֑ים שִׁבְעַ֨ת יָמִ֤ים תּוֹחֵל֙ עַד ־בּוֹאִ֣י אֵלֶ֔יךָ וְהוֹדַעְתִּ֣י לְךָ֔ אֵ֖ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּעֲשֶֽׂה ׃
καὶ καταβήσῃ ἔμπροσθεν τῆς Γαλγαλα καὶ ἰδοὺ καταβαίνω πρὸς σὲ ἀνενεγκεῖν ὁλοκαύτωσιν καὶ θυσίας εἰρηνικάς ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας διαλείψεις ἕως τοῦ ἐλθεῖν με πρὸς σέ καὶ γνωρίσω σοι ἃ ποιήσεις
Et descendes ante me in Galgala (ego quippe descendam ad te ), ut offeras oblationem , et immoles victimas pacificas : septem diebus expectabis , donec veniam ad te , et ostendam tibi quid facias .
ወትወርድ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ገልገላ ፡ ወናሁ ፡ እወርድ ፡ ኀቤከ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኣዕርግ ፡ መሥዋዕተ ፡ ወቍርባነ ፡ ሰላም ፤ ሰቡዕ ፡ መዋዕል ፡ የኀልፍ ፡ እስከ ፡ እመጽእ ፡ ኀቤከ ፡ ወኣየድዐከ ፡ ዘከመ ፡ ትገብር ።
“Go down ahead of me to Gilgal; and behold, I will come down to you to offer burnt offerings and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings. Wait seven days, until I come to you and show you what you are to do.”
10:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהָיָ֗ה כְּהַפְנֹת֤וֹ שִׁכְמוֹ֙ לָלֶ֙כֶת֙ מֵעִ֣ם שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל וַיַּהֲפׇךְ ־ל֥וֹ אֱלֹהִ֖ים לֵ֣ב אַחֵ֑ר וַיָּבֹ֛אוּ כׇּל ־הָאֹת֥וֹת הָאֵ֖לֶּה בַּיּ֥וֹם הַהֽוּא ׃ {ס}
καὶ ἐγενήθη ὥστε ἐπιστραφῆναι τῷ ὤμῳ αὐτοῦ ἀπελθεῖν ἀπὸ Σαμουηλ μετέστρεψεν αὐτῷ ὁ θεὸς καρδίαν ἄλλην καὶ ἦλθεν πάντα τὰ σημεῖα ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ
Itaque cum avertisset humerum suum ut abiret a Samuele , immutavit ei Deus cor aliud , et venerunt omnia signa haec in die illa .
ወእምዝ ፡ እምድኅረ ፡ ሜጠ ፡ ዘባኖ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይሖር ፡ እምኀበ ፡ ሳሙኤል ፡ ወወለጠ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ካልአ ፡ ልቦ ፡ ወወደየ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ወረከበ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዝኩ ፡ ተኣምረ ፡ በይእቲ ፡ ዕለት ።
It was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart; and all those signs happened that day.
10:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיָּבֹ֤אוּ שָׁם֙ הַגִּבְעָ֔תָה וְהִנֵּ֥ה חֶבֶל ־נְבִאִ֖ים לִקְרָאת֑וֹ וַתִּצְלַ֤ח עָלָיו֙ ר֣וּחַ אֱלֹהִ֔ים וַיִּתְנַבֵּ֖א בְּתוֹכָֽם ׃
καὶ ἔρχεται ἐκεῖθεν εἰς τὸν βουνόν καὶ ἰδοὺ χορὸς προφητῶν ἐξ ἐναντίας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἥλατο ἐπ’ αὐτὸν πνεῦμα θεοῦ καὶ ἐπροφήτευσεν ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν
Veneruntque ad praedictum collem , et ecce cuneus prophetarum obvius ei : et insiluit super eum spiritus Domini , et prophetavit in medio eorum .
ወበጽሐ ፡ እምህየ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ወግር ፡ ወረከበ ፡ መዝሙረ ፡ ነቢያት ፡ ቅድሜሁ ፡ ወመጽአ ፡ ላዕሌሁ ፡ መንፈሰ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወተነበየ ፡ በማእከሎሙ ።
When they came there to the hill, behold, a band of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came mightily on him, and he prophesied among them.
10:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִ֗י כׇּל ־יֽוֹדְעוֹ֙ מֵאִתְּמ֣וֹל שִׁלְשֹׁ֔ם וַיִּרְא֕וּ וְהִנֵּ֥ה עִם ־נְבִאִ֖ים נִבָּ֑א {ס} וַיֹּ֨אמֶר הָעָ֜ם אִ֣ישׁ אֶל ־רֵעֵ֗הוּ מַה ־זֶּה֙ הָיָ֣ה לְבֶן ־קִ֔ישׁ הֲגַ֥ם שָׁא֖וּל בַּנְּבִיאִֽים ׃
καὶ ἐγενήθησαν πάντες οἱ εἰδότες αὐτὸν ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην καὶ εἶδον καὶ ἰδοὺ αὐτὸς ἐν μέσῳ τῶν προφητῶν καὶ εἶπεν ὁ λαὸς ἕκαστος πρὸς τὸν πλησίον αὐτοῦ τί τοῦτο τὸ γεγονὸς τῷ υἱῷ Κις ἦ καὶ Σαουλ ἐν προφήταις
Videntes autem omnes qui noverant eum heri et nudiustertius quod esset cum prophetis , et prophetaret , dixerunt ad invicem : Quaenam res accidit filio Cis ? num et Saul inter prophetas ?
ወእምዝ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ርእይዎ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ያአምርዎ ፡ ትካት ፡ በማእከለ ፡ ነቢያት ፡ ተባሀሉ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ በበይናቲሆሙ ፡ ምንትኑ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ዘኮነ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ቂስ ፤ ሳኦልሂ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ነቢያትኑ ።
When all who knew him before saw that, behold, he prophesied with the prophets, then the people said to one another, “What is this that has come to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?”
10:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֨עַן אִ֥ישׁ מִשָּׁ֛ם וַיֹּ֖אמֶר וּמִ֣י אֲבִיהֶ֑ם עַל ־כֵּן֙ הָיְתָ֣ה לְמָשָׁ֔ל הֲגַ֥ם שָׁא֖וּל בַּנְּבִאִֽים ׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη τις αὐτῶν καὶ εἶπεν καὶ τίς πατὴρ αὐτοῦ διὰ τοῦτο ἐγενήθη εἰς παραβολήν ἦ καὶ Σαουλ ἐν προφήταις
Responditque alius ad alterum , dicens : Et quis pater eorum ? Propterea versum est in proverbium : Num et Saul inter prophetas ?
ወተሠጥወ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ እምኔሆሙ ፡ ወይቤ ፡ መኑ ፡ አቡሁ ፡ አኮኑ ፡ ቂስ ፤ በበይነ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ኮነ ፡ አምሳል ፡ ወይቤሉ ፡ ሳኦልኒ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ነቢያትኑ ።
One from the same place answered, “Who is their father?” Therefore it became a proverb, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
10:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְכַל֙ מֵֽהִתְנַבּ֔וֹת וַיָּבֹ֖א הַבָּמָֽה ׃
καὶ συνετέλεσεν προφητεύων καὶ ἔρχεται εἰς τὸν βουνόν
Cessavit autem prophetare , et venit ad excelsum .
ወፈጺሞ ፡ ተነቢዮ ፡ ሖረ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ወግር ።
When he had finished prophesying, he came to the high place.
10:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֩אמֶר֩ דּ֨וֹד שָׁא֥וּל אֵלָ֛יו וְאֶֽל ־נַעֲר֖וֹ אָ֣ן הֲלַכְתֶּ֑ם וַיֹּ֗אמֶר לְבַקֵּשׁ֙ אֶת ־הָ֣אֲתֹנ֔וֹת וַנִּרְאֶ֣ה כִי ־אַ֔יִן וַנָּב֖וֹא אֶל ־שְׁמוּאֵֽל ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ οἰκεῖος αὐτοῦ πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ πρὸς τὸ παιδάριον αὐτοῦ ποῦ ἐπορεύθητε καὶ εἶπαν ζητεῖν τὰς ὄνους καὶ εἴδαμεν ὅτι οὐκ εἰσίν καὶ εἰσήλθομεν πρὸς Σαμουηλ
Dixitque patruus Saul ad eum , et ad puerum ejus : Quo abistis ? Qui responderunt : Quaerere asinas : quas cum non reperissemus , venimus ad Samuelem .
ወይቤሎ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ እምነ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ወለቍልዒሁ ፡ አይቴ ፡ ሖርክሙ ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ንኅሥሥ ፡ አእዱጊነ ፡ ወሶበ ፡ ኢረከብናሆሙ ፡ ሖርነ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሳሙኤል ።
Saul’s uncle said to him and to his servant, “Where did you go?” He said, “To seek the donkeys. When we saw that they were not found, we came to Samuel.”
10:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר דּ֣וֹד שָׁא֑וּל הַגִּֽידָה ־נָּ֣א לִ֔י מָה ־אָמַ֥ר לָכֶ֖ם שְׁמוּאֵֽל ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ οἰκεῖος πρὸς Σαουλ ἀπάγγειλον δή μοι τί εἶπέν σοι Σαμουηλ
Et dixit ei patruus suus : Indica mihi quid dixerit tibi Samuel .
ወይቤሎ ፡ ዝክቱ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ ምንተ ፡ ይቤለክሙ ፡ ሳሙኤል ፡ ንግረኒ ።
Saul’s uncle said, “Please tell me what Samuel said to you.”
10:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר שָׁאוּל֙ אֶל ־דּוֹד֔וֹ הַגֵּ֤ד הִגִּיד֙ לָ֔נוּ כִּ֥י נִמְצְא֖וּ הָאֲתֹנ֑וֹת וְאֶת ־דְּבַ֤ר הַמְּלוּכָה֙ לֹא ־הִגִּ֣יד ל֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֖ר אָמַ֥ר שְׁמוּאֵֽל ׃ {פ}
καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ πρὸς τὸν οἰκεῖον αὐτοῦ ἀπήγγειλεν ἀπαγγέλλων μοι ὅτι εὕρηνται αἱ ὄνοι τὸ δὲ ῥῆμα τῆς βασιλείας οὐκ ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτῷ
Et ait Saul ad patruum suum : Indicavit nobis quia inventae essent asinae . De sermone autem regni non indicavit ei quem locutus fuerat ei Samuel .
ወይቤሎ ፡ ሳኦል ፡ ለወልደ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ ዜነወነ ፡ ወአይድዐነ ፡ ከመ ፡ ተረክቡ ፡ አእዱጊነ ፡ ወበበይነ ፡ ነገረ ፡ መንግሥትስ ፡ ኢዜነዎ ።
Saul said to his uncle, “He told us plainly that the donkeys were found.” But concerning the matter of the kingdom, of which Samuel spoke, he didn’t tell him.
10:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּצְעֵ֤ק שְׁמוּאֵל֙ אֶת ־הָעָ֔ם אֶל ־יְהֹוָ֖ה הַמִּצְפָּֽה ׃
καὶ παρήγγειλεν Σαμουηλ παντὶ τῷ λαῷ πρὸς κύριον εἰς Μασσηφα
Et convocavit Samuel populum ad Dominum in Maspha :
ወአዘዞሙ ፡ ሳሙኤል ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ይጊሡ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ውስተ ፡ መሴፋ ።
Samuel called the people together to Yahweh to Mizpah;
10:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ׀ אֶל ־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל {פ} כֹּֽה ־אָמַ֤ר יְהֹוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אָנֹכִ֛י הֶעֱלֵ֥יתִי אֶת ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם וָאַצִּ֤יל אֶתְכֶם֙ מִיַּ֣ד מִצְרַ֔יִם וּמִיַּד֙ כׇּל ־הַמַּמְלָכ֔וֹת הַלֹּחֲצִ֖ים אֶתְכֶֽם ׃
καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ τάδε εἶπεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ λέγων ἐγὼ ἀνήγαγον τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐξειλάμην ὑμᾶς ἐκ χειρὸς Φαραω βασιλέως Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐκ πασῶν τῶν βασιλειῶν τῶν θλιβουσῶν ὑμᾶς
et ait ad filios Israël : Haec dicit Dominus Deus Israël : Ego eduxi Israël de Aegypto , et erui vos de manu Aegyptiorum , et de manu omnium regum qui affligebant vos .
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላከ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ አነ ፡ አውጻእክዎሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ እምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወእምኵሎ ፡ መንግሥታት ፡ እለ ፡ ይሣቅዩክሙአ ።
and he said to the children of Israel, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, says ‘I brought Israel up out of Egypt and I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all the kingdoms that oppressed you.’
10:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַתֶּ֨ם הַיּ֜וֹם מְאַסְתֶּ֣ם אֶת ־אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֗ם אֲשֶׁר ־ה֨וּא מוֹשִׁ֣יעַ לָכֶם֮ מִכׇּל ־רָעוֹתֵיכֶ֣ם וְצָרֹתֵיכֶם֒ וַתֹּ֣אמְרוּ ל֔וֹ כִּי ־מֶ֖לֶךְ תָּשִׂ֣ים עָלֵ֑ינוּ וְעַתָּ֗ה הִֽתְיַצְּבוּ֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה לְשִׁבְטֵיכֶ֖ם וּלְאַלְפֵיכֶֽם ׃
καὶ ὑμεῖς σήμερον ἐξουθενήκατε τὸν θεόν ὃς αὐτός ἐστιν ὑμῶν σωτὴρ ἐκ πάντων τῶν κακῶν ὑμῶν καὶ θλίψεων ὑμῶν καὶ εἴπατε οὐχί ἀλλ’ ἢ ὅτι βασιλέα στήσεις ἐφ’ ἡμῶν καὶ νῦν κατάστητε ἐνώπιον κυρίου κατὰ τὰ σκῆπτρα ὑμῶν καὶ κατὰ τὰς φυλὰς ὑμῶν
Vos autem hodie projecistis Deum vestrum , qui solus salvavit vos de universis malis et tribulationibus vestris : et dixistis : Nequaquam : sed regem constitue super nos . Nunc ergo state coram Domino per tribus vestras , et per familias .
ወዮምሰ ፡ መነንክምዎ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔርአ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ዘኮነክሙ ፡ መድኀኒክሙ ፡ እምነ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ እሊትክሙ ፡ ወምንዳቤክሙአ ፡ ወትቤሉ ፡ አልቦ ፤ ዳእሙ ፡ አንግሥ ፡ ለነ ፡ ንጉሠአ ፤ ወይእዜኒአ ፡ ቁሙ ፡ ቅድሜሁ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔርአ ፡ በበ ፡ በትርክሙአ ፡ ወበበሕዝብክሙአ ።
But you have today rejected your God, who himself saves you out of all your calamities and your distresses; and you have said to him, ‘No! Set a king over us!’ Now therefore present yourselves before Yahweh by your tribes and by your thousands.”
10:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּקְרֵ֣ב שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל אֵ֖ת כׇּל ־שִׁבְטֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּלָּכֵ֖ד שֵׁ֥בֶט בִּנְיָמִֽן ׃
καὶ προσήγαγεν Σαμουηλ πάντα τὰ σκῆπτρα Ισραηλ καὶ κατακληροῦται σκῆπτρον Βενιαμιν
Et applicuit Samuel omnes tribus Israël , et cecidit sors tribus Benjamin .
ወአብአ ፡ ሳሙኤል ፡ ኵሎ ፡ አብትሪሆሙ ፡ ወበጽሐ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ በትረ ፡ ብንያም ።
So Samuel brought all the tribes of Israel near, and the tribe of Benjamin was chosen.
10:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּקְרֵ֞ב אֶת ־שֵׁ֤בֶט בִּנְיָמִן֙ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֔ו וַתִּלָּכֵ֖ד מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת הַמַּטְרִ֑י וַיִּלָּכֵד֙ שָׁא֣וּל בֶּן ־קִ֔ישׁ וַיְבַקְשֻׁ֖הוּ וְלֹ֥א נִמְצָֽא ׃
καὶ προσάγει σκῆπτρον Βενιαμιν εἰς φυλάς καὶ κατακληροῦται φυλὴ Ματταρι καὶ προσάγουσιν τὴν φυλὴν Ματταρι εἰς ἄνδρας καὶ κατακληροῦται Σαουλ υἱὸς Κις καὶ ἐζήτει αὐτόν καὶ οὐχ εὑρίσκετο
Et applicuit tribum Benjamin et cognationes ejus , et cecidit cognatio Metri : et pervenit usque ad Saul filium Cis . Quaesierunt ergo eum , et non est inventus .
ወአቀሞሙ ፡ በበነገዶሙ ፡ ወበጽሐ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ነገደ ፡ መጣር ፡ ወአቀሞሙ ፡ ለነገደ ፡ መጣር ፡ በበብእሲሁ ፡ ወበጽሐ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ሳኦል ፡ ወልደ ፡ ቂስ ፡ ወኀሠሦ ፡ ወኢረከቦ ።
He brought the tribe of Benjamin near by their families and the family of the Matrites was chosen. Then Saul the son of Kish was chosen; but when they looked for him, he could not be found.
10:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּשְׁאֲלוּ ־עוֹד֙ בַּֽיהֹוָ֔ה הֲבָ֥א ע֖וֹד הֲלֹ֣ם אִ֑ישׁ {ס} וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהֹוָ֔ה הִנֵּה ־ה֥וּא נֶחְבָּ֖א אֶל ־הַכֵּלִֽים ׃
καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν Σαμουηλ ἔτι ἐν κυρίῳ εἰ ἔρχεται ὁ ἀνὴρ ἐνταῦθα καὶ εἶπεν κύριος ἰδοὺ αὐτὸς κέκρυπται ἐν τοῖς σκεύεσιν
Et consuluerunt post haec Dominum utrumnam venturus esset illuc . Responditque Dominus : Ecce absconditus est domi .
ወተስእሎ ፡ ሳሙኤል ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ለእመ ፡ ይመጽእ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ህየ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ነዋ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሀሎ ፡ ይትኀበእ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ንዋይ ።
Therefore they asked of Yahweh further, “Is there yet a man to come here?” Yahweh answered, “Behold, he has hidden himself among the baggage.”
10:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיָּרֻ֙צוּ֙ וַיִּקָּחֻ֣הוּ מִשָּׁ֔ם וַיִּתְיַצֵּ֖ב בְּת֣וֹךְ הָעָ֑ם וַיִּגְבַּהּ֙ מִכׇּל ־הָעָ֔ם מִשִּׁכְמ֖וֹ וָמָֽעְלָה ׃
καὶ ἔδραμεν καὶ λαμβάνει αὐτὸν ἐκεῖθεν καὶ κατέστησεν ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ ὑψώθη ὑπὲρ πάντα τὸν λαὸν ὑπὲρ ὠμίαν καὶ ἐπάνω
Cucurrerunt itaque et tulerunt eum inde : stetitque in medio populi , et altior fuit universo populo ab humero et sursum .
ወሖረ ፡ ወአምጽኦ ፡ እምህየ ፡ ወአቀሞ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወኖኀ ፡ እምኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወኮኑ ፡ ታሕተ ፡ መትከፍቱ ።
They ran and got him there. When he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.
10:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר שְׁמוּאֵ֜ל אֶל ־כׇּל ־הָעָ֗ם הַרְּאִיתֶם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּחַר ־בּ֣וֹ יְהֹוָ֔ה כִּ֛י אֵ֥ין כָּמֹ֖הוּ בְּכׇל ־הָעָ֑ם וַיָּרִ֧עוּ כׇל ־הָעָ֛ם וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ יְחִ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ ׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπεν Σαμουηλ πρὸς πάντα τὸν λαόν εἰ ἑοράκατε ὃν ἐκλέλεκται ἑαυτῷ κύριος ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν αὐτῷ ὅμοιος ἐν πᾶσιν ὑμῖν καὶ ἔγνωσαν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς καὶ εἶπαν ζήτω ὁ βασιλεύς
Et ait Samuel ad omnem populum : Certe videtis quem elegit Dominus , quoniam non sit similis illi in omni populo . Et clamavit omnis populus , et ait : Vivat rex .
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ሳሙኤል ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ ናሁ ፡ ርእዩ ፡ ዘኀረዮ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዘአልቦ ፡ ዘይመስሎ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ኵልክሙ ፡ ወአእመሩ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወይቤሉ ፡ ሕየው ፡ አበ ፡ ነገሢ ።
Samuel said to all the people, “Do you see him whom Yahweh has chosen, that there is no one like him among all the people?” All the people shouted and said, “Long live the king!”
10:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר שְׁמוּאֵ֜ל אֶל ־הָעָ֗ם אֵ֚ת מִשְׁפַּ֣ט הַמְּלֻכָ֔ה וַיִּכְתֹּ֣ב בַּסֵּ֔פֶר וַיַּנַּ֖ח לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה וַיְשַׁלַּ֧ח שְׁמוּאֵ֛ל אֶת ־כׇּל ־הָעָ֖ם אִ֥ישׁ לְבֵיתֽוֹ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Σαμουηλ πρὸς τὸν λαὸν τὸ δικαίωμα τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἔγραψεν ἐν βιβλίῳ καὶ ἔθηκεν ἐνώπιον κυρίου καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν Σαμουηλ πάντα τὸν λαόν καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ἕκαστος εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτοῦ
Locutus est autem Samuel ad populum legem regni , et scripsit in libro , et reposuit coram Domino : et dimisit Samuel omnem populum , singulos in domum suam .
ወነገሮሙ ፡ ሳሙኤልኵነኔሁ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወጸሐፎ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መጽሐፍ ፡ ወአንበሮ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፤ ወፈነዎሙ ፡ ሳሙኤል ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወአተዉ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እብያቲሆሙ ።
Then Samuel told the people the regulations of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book and laid it up before Yahweh. Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house.
10:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְגַ֨ם ־שָׁא֔וּל הָלַ֥ךְ לְבֵית֖וֹ גִּבְעָ֑תָה וַיֵּלְכ֣וּ עִמּ֔וֹ הַחַ֕יִל אֲשֶׁר ־נָגַ֥ע אֱלֹהִ֖ים בְּלִבָּֽם ׃
καὶ Σαουλ ἀπῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ εἰς Γαβαα καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν υἱοὶ δυνάμεων ὧν ἥψατο κύριος καρδίας αὐτῶν μετὰ Σαουλ
Sed et Saul abiit in domum suam in Gabaa : et abiit cum eo pars exercitus , quorum tetigerat Deus corda .
ወሳኦልኒ ፡ አተወ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ ገባኦን ፡ ወሖሩ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ኀይል ፡ እለ ፡ ገሰሶሙ ፡ ልቦሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ምስለ ፡ ሳኦል ።
Saul also went to his house in Gibeah; and the army went with him, whose hearts God had touched.
10:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּבְנֵ֧י בְלִיַּ֣עַל אָמְר֗וּ מַה ־יֹּשִׁעֵ֙נוּ֙ זֶ֔ה וַיִּבְזֻ֕הוּ וְלֹא ־הֵבִ֥יאוּ ל֖וֹ מִנְחָ֑ה וַיְהִ֖י כְּמַחֲרִֽישׁ ׃ {פ}
καὶ υἱοὶ λοιμοὶ εἶπαν τί σώσει ἡμᾶς οὗτος καὶ ἠτίμασαν αὐτὸν καὶ οὐκ ἤνεγκαν αὐτῷ δῶρα
Filii vero Belial dixerunt : Num salvare nos poterit iste ? Et despexerunt eum , et non attulerunt ei munera : ille vero dissimulabat se audire .
ወ [ደቂቅሰ ፡ ኃጥአን ፡] ይቤሉ ፡ መኑ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ከመ ፡ ያድኅነነ ፡ ወአስተሐቀርዎ ፡ ወኢያምጽኡ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ አምኃሁ ።
But certain worthless fellows said, “How could this man save us?” They despised him, and brought him no tribute. But he held his peace.
