6:1
וַיְהִ֧י אֲרוֹן־יְהֹוָ֛ה בִּשְׂדֵ֥ה פְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים שִׁבְעָ֥ה חֳדָשִֽׁים׃
καὶ ἦν ἡ κιβωτὸς ἐν ἀγρῷ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων ἑπτὰ μῆνας καὶ ἐξέζεσεν ἡ γῆ αὐτῶν μύας
Fuit ergo arca Domini in regione Philisthinorum septem mensibus.
ወነበረት፡ ታቦት፡ ውስተ፡ ገዳም፡ ሰብዐተ፡ አውራኀ፡ ወአውፅአት፡ ምድሮሙ፡ አናጹተ።
Yahweh’s ark was in the country of the Philistines seven months.
6:2
וַיִּקְרְא֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים לַכֹּהֲנִ֤ים וְלַקֹּֽסְמִים֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר מַֽה־נַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה לַאֲר֣וֹן יְהֹוָ֑ה הוֹדִעֻ֕נוּ בַּמֶּ֖ה נְשַׁלְּחֶ֥נּוּ לִמְקוֹמֽוֹ׃ {ס}
καὶ καλοῦσιν ἀλλόφυλοι τοὺς ἱερεῖς καὶ τοὺς μάντεις καὶ τοὺς ἐπαοιδοὺς αὐτῶν λέγοντες τί ποιήσωμεν τῇ κιβωτῷ κυρίου γνωρίσατε ἡμῖν ἐν τίνι ἀποστελοῦμεν αὐτὴν εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτῆς
Et vocaverunt Philisthiim sacerdotes et divinos, dicentes : Quid faciemus de arca Domini ? indicate nobis quomodo remittamus eam in locum suum. Qui dixerunt :
ወጸውዕዎሙ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ለማርያን፡ ወለሰብአ፡ መቅስም፡ ወለሰብአ፡ ሥራይ፡ ወይቤልዎሙ፡ ምንተ፡ ንሬስያ፡ ለታቦተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አይድዑነ፡ ወበምንት፡ ንፌንዋ፡ ውስተ፡ መካና።
The Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, “What shall we do with Yahweh’s ark? Show us how we should send it to its place.”
6:3
וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ אִֽם־מְשַׁלְּחִ֞ים אֶת־אֲר֨וֹן אֱלֹהֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אַל־תְּשַׁלְּח֤וּ אֹתוֹ֙ רֵיקָ֔ם כִּי־הָשֵׁ֥ב תָּשִׁ֛יבוּ ל֖וֹ אָשָׁ֑ם אָ֤ז תֵּרָֽפְאוּ֙ וְנוֹדַ֣ע לָכֶ֔ם לָ֛מָּה לֹא־תָס֥וּר יָד֖וֹ מִכֶּֽם׃
καὶ εἶπαν εἰ ἐξαπεστέλλετε ὑμεῖς τὴν κιβωτὸν διαθήκης κυρίου θεοῦ Ισραηλ μὴ δὴ ἐξαποστείλητε αὐτὴν κενήν ἀλλὰ ἀποδιδόντες ἀπόδοτε αὐτῇ τῆς βασάνου καὶ τότε ἰαθήσεσθε καὶ ἐξιλασθήσεται ὑμῖν μὴ οὐκ ἀποστῇ ἡ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ ἀφ’ ὑμῶν
Si remittitis arcam Dei Israël, nolite dimittere eam vacuam, sed quod debetis, reddite ei pro peccato, et tunc curabimini : et scietis quare non recedat manus ejus a vobis.
ወይቤልዎሙ፡ ፈንውዋ፡ ለታቦተ፡ ሕጉ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ አምላከ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወኢትፈንውዋ፡ ዕራቃ፡ አላ፡ ሀብዋ፡ ሞጻ፡ በእንተ፡ ዘአሕመምክምዋ፡ ወውእተ፡ ጊዜ፡ ይሣሀለክሙ፡ ወይሰሪ፡ ለክሙ፡ ወእመ፡ አኮሰ፡ ኢተኀድግ፡ እዴሁ፡ እምላዕሌክሙ።
They said, “If you send away the ark of the God of Israel, don’t send it empty; but by all means return a trespass offering to him. Then you will be healed, and it will be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.”
6:4
וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ מָ֣ה הָאָשָׁם֮ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָשִׁ֣יב לוֹ֒ וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ מִסְפַּר֙ סַרְנֵ֣י פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים חֲמִשָּׁה֙ (עפלי) [טְחֹרֵ֣י] זָהָ֔ב וַחֲמִשָּׁ֖ה עַכְבְּרֵ֣י זָהָ֑ב כִּֽי־מַגֵּפָ֥ה אַחַ֛ת לְכֻלָּ֖ם וּלְסַרְנֵיכֶֽם׃
καὶ λέγουσιν τί τὸ τῆς βασάνου ἀποδώσομεν αὐτῇ καὶ εἶπαν κατ’ ἀριθμὸν τῶν σατραπῶν τῶν ἀλλοφύλων πέντε ἕδρας χρυσᾶς ὅτι πταῖσμα ἓν ὑμῖν καὶ τοῖς ἄρχουσιν ὑμῶν καὶ τῷ λαῷ
Qui dixerunt : Quid est quod pro delicto reddere debeamus ei ? Responderuntque illi :
ወይቤልዎሙ፡ ምንት፡ ሞጻ፡ ዘንሁብ፡ ወይቤልዎሙ፡ በኍልቈ፡ ምስፍናሆሙ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ፡ ኀምስተ፡ ምስለ፡ ነፍስትክሙ፡ ኀበ፡ ተቀሠፍክሙ፡ እስመ፡ ኀጢአት፡ ላዕሌክሙ፡ ወላዕለ፡ መላእክቲክሙ፡ ወላዕለ፡ ሕዝብክሙ።
Then they said, “What should the trespass offering be which we shall return to him?” They said, “Five golden tumors and five golden mice, for the number of the lords of the Philistines; for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.
6:5
וַעֲשִׂיתֶם֩ צַלְמֵ֨י (עפליכם) [טְחֹרֵיכֶ֜ם] וְצַלְמֵ֣י עַכְבְּרֵיכֶ֗ם הַמַּשְׁחִיתִם֙ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ וּנְתַתֶּ֛ם לֵאלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל כָּב֑וֹד אוּלַ֗י יָקֵ֤ל אֶת־יָדוֹ֙ מֵֽעֲלֵיכֶ֔ם וּמֵעַ֥ל אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם וּמֵעַ֥ל אַרְצְכֶֽם׃
καὶ μῦς χρυσοῦς ὁμοίωμα τῶν μυῶν ὑμῶν τῶν διαφθειρόντων τὴν γῆν καὶ δώσετε τῷ κυρίῳ δόξαν ὅπως κουφίσῃ τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἀφ’ ὑμῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν θεῶν ὑμῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ὑμῶν
Juxta numerum provinciarum Philisthinorum quinque anos aureos facietis, et quinque mures aureos : quia plaga una fuit omnibus vobis, et satrapis vestris. Facietisque similitudines anorum vestrorum, et similitudines murium, qui demoliti sunt terram : et dabitis Deo Israël gloriam, si forte relevet manum suam a vobis, et a diis vestris, et a terra vestra.
ወአናጹተ፡ ዘወርቅ፡ ምስለ፡ አናጹቲክሙ፡ እለ፡ አማሰንዋ፡ ለምድርክሙ፡ ወሰብሕዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ከመ፡ ያቅልል፡ አዴሁ፡ እምላዕሌክሙ፡ ወእምአማልክቲክሙ፡ ወእምድርክሙ።
Therefore you shall make images of your tumors and images of your mice that mar the land; and you shall give glory to the God of Israel. Perhaps he will release his hand from you, from your gods, and from your land.
6:6
וְלָ֤מָּה תְכַבְּדוּ֙ אֶת־לְבַבְכֶ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֧ר כִּבְּד֛וּ מִצְרַ֥יִם וּפַרְעֹ֖ה אֶת־לִבָּ֑ם הֲלוֹא֙ כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר הִתְעַלֵּ֣ל בָּהֶ֔ם וַֽיְשַׁלְּח֖וּם וַיֵּלֵֽכוּ׃
καὶ ἵνα τί βαρύνετε τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν ὡς ἐβάρυνεν Αἴγυπτος καὶ Φαραω τὴν καρδίαν αὐτῶν οὐχὶ ὅτε ἐνέπαιξεν αὐτοῖς ἐξαπέστειλαν αὐτούς καὶ ἀπῆλθον
Quare aggravatis corda vestra, sicut aggravavit Aegyptus et Pharao cor suum ? nonne postquam percussus est, tunc dimisit eos, et abierunt ?
ወለምንት፡ ታከብዱ፡ ልበክሙ፡ ከመ፡ አክበዱ፡ ግብጽ፡ ወፈርዖን፡ ልቦሙ ፤ አኮኑ፡ ሶበ፡ ተሣለቀ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ፡ ፈነዎሙ፡ ወሖሩ።
Why then do you harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When he had worked wonderfully among them, didn’t they let the people go, and they departed?
6:7
וְעַתָּ֗ה קְח֨וּ וַעֲשׂ֜וּ עֲגָלָ֤ה חֲדָשָׁה֙ אֶחָ֔ת וּשְׁתֵּ֤י פָרוֹת֙ עָל֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹא־עָלָ֥ה עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם עֹ֑ל וַאֲסַרְתֶּ֤ם אֶת־הַפָּרוֹת֙ בָּעֲגָלָ֔ה וַהֲשֵׁיבֹתֶ֧ם בְּנֵיהֶ֛ם מֵאַחֲרֵיהֶ֖ם הַבָּֽיְתָה׃
καὶ νῦν λάβετε καὶ ποιήσατε ἅμαξαν καινὴν καὶ δύο βόας πρωτοτοκούσας ἄνευ τῶν τέκνων καὶ ζεύξατε τὰς βόας ἐν τῇ ἁμάξῃ καὶ ἀπαγάγετε τὰ τέκνα ἀπὸ ὄπισθεν αὐτῶν εἰς οἶκον
Nunc ergo arripite et facite plaustrum novum unum : et duas vaccas foetas, quibus non est impositum jugum, jungite in plaustro, et recludite vitulos earum domi.
ወይእዜኒ፡ ንሥኡ፡ ወግበሩ፡ ሰረገላ፡ ሐዲሰ፡ ወክልኤ፡ እጐላተ፡ እለ፡ ተበኵራ፡ ዘእንበለ፡ እገሙሊሆን፡ ወይስሕባ፡ እጐላት፡ ውስተ፡ ሰረገላ፡ ወአሰስሉ፡ እጐሊሆን፡ እምድኅሬሆን፡ ወአንብሩ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤት።
“Now therefore take and prepare yourselves a new cart and two milk cows on which there has come no yoke; and tie the cows to the cart, and bring their calves home from them;
6:8
וּלְקַחְתֶּ֞ם אֶת־אֲר֣וֹן יְהֹוָ֗ה וּנְתַתֶּ֤ם אֹתוֹ֙ אֶל־הָ֣עֲגָלָ֔ה וְאֵ֣ת׀ כְּלֵ֣י הַזָּהָ֗ב אֲשֶׁ֨ר הֲשֵׁבֹתֶ֥ם לוֹ֙ אָשָׁ֔ם תָּשִׂ֥ימוּ בָאַרְגַּ֖ז מִצִּדּ֑וֹ וְשִׁלַּחְתֶּ֥ם אֹת֖וֹ וְהָלָֽךְ׃
καὶ λήμψεσθε τὴν κιβωτὸν καὶ θήσετε αὐτὴν ἐπὶ τὴν ἅμαξαν καὶ τὰ σκεύη τὰ χρυσᾶ ἀποδώσετε αὐτῇ τῆς βασάνου καὶ θήσετε ἐν θέματι βερσεχθαν ἐκ μέρους αὐτῆς καὶ ἐξαποστελεῖτε αὐτὴν καὶ ἀπελάσατε αὐτήν καὶ ἀπελεύσεται
Tolletisque arcam Domini, et ponetis in plaustro, et vasa aurea quae exsolvistis ei pro delicto, ponetis in capsellam ad latus ejus : et dimittite eam ut vadat.
ወንሥኡ፡ ታቦተ፡ ወአንብርዋ፡ ውስተ፡ ውእቱ፡ ሰረገላ፡ ወዝክተኒ፡ ንዋየ፡ ወርቅ፡ ዘትሁብዋ፡ ሞጻ፡ ወሥርዑ፡ ሥርዐተ፡ ቤርሴክታን፡ በገቦሃ፡ ወፈንውዋ፡ ትእቱ።
and take Yahweh’s ark and lay it on the cart. Put the jewels of gold, which you return him for a trespass offering, in a box by its side; and send it away, that it may go.
6:9
וּרְאִיתֶ֗ם אִם־דֶּ֨רֶךְ גְּבוּל֤וֹ יַֽעֲלֶה֙ בֵּ֣ית שֶׁ֔מֶשׁ ה֚וּא עָ֣שָׂה לָ֔נוּ אֶת־הָרָעָ֥ה הַגְּדוֹלָ֖ה הַזֹּ֑את וְאִם־לֹ֗א וְיָדַ֙עְנוּ֙ כִּ֣י לֹ֤א יָדוֹ֙ נָ֣גְעָה בָּ֔נוּ מִקְרֶ֥ה ה֖וּא הָ֥יָה לָֽנוּ׃
καὶ ὄψεσθε εἰ εἰς ὁδὸν ὁρίων αὐτῆς πορεύσεται κατὰ Βαιθσαμυς αὐτὸς πεποίηκεν ἡμῖν τὴν κακίαν ταύτην τὴν μεγάλην καὶ ἐὰν μή καὶ γνωσόμεθα ὅτι οὐ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ ἧπται ἡμῶν ἀλλὰ σύμπτωμα τοῦτο γέγονεν ἡμῖν
Et aspicietis : et si quidem per viam finium suorum ascenderit contra Bethsames, ipse fecit nobis hoc malum grande : sin autem, minime : sciemus quia nequaquam manus ejus tetigit nos, sed casu accidit.
ወትሬእዩ፡ ፍኖተ፡ ደወል፡ ኀበ፡ ተሐሡር፡ ወለእመ፡ መንገስ፡ ቤተ፡ ሳሚስ፡ ውእቱ፡ ገብረ፡ ላዕሌክሙ፡ ዘንተ፡ ዐቢየ፡ ወለእመ፡ ኢኮነት፡ እዴሁ፡ እንተ፡ ረከበተነ፡ ወበከ፡ ተስሕትነ።
Behold, if it goes up by the way of its own border to Beth Shemesh, then he has done us this great evil; but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that struck us. It was a chance that happened to us.”
6:10
וַיַּעֲשׂ֤וּ הָאֲנָשִׁים֙ כֵּ֔ן וַיִּקְח֗וּ שְׁתֵּ֤י פָרוֹת֙ עָל֔וֹת וַיַּאַסְר֖וּם בָּעֲגָלָ֑ה וְאֶת־בְּנֵיהֶ֖ם כָּל֥וּ בַבָּֽיִת׃
καὶ ἐποίησαν οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι οὕτως καὶ ἔλαβον δύο βόας πρωτοτοκούσας καὶ ἔζευξαν αὐτὰς ἐν τῇ ἁμάξῃ καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν ἀπεκώλυσαν εἰς οἶκον
Fecerunt ergo illi hoc modo : et tollentes duas vaccas quae lactabant vitulos, junxerunt ad plaustrum, vitulosque earum concluserunt domi.
ወገብሩ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ከማሁ፡ ወነሥኡ፡ ክልኤ፡ እጐላተ፡ እለ፡ ተበኵራ፡ ወሰሐባ፡ ክልኤቲ፡ እጐላት፡ እለ፡ ተበኵራ፡ ወዐፀዉ፡ እጐሊሆን፡ ውስተ፡ ቤት።
The men did so, and took two milk cows and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home.
6:11
וַיָּשִׂ֛מוּ אֶת־אֲר֥וֹן יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל־הָעֲגָלָ֑ה וְאֵ֣ת הָאַרְגַּ֗ז וְאֵת֙ עַכְבְּרֵ֣י הַזָּהָ֔ב וְאֵ֖ת צַלְמֵ֥י טְחֹרֵיהֶֽם׃
καὶ ἔθεντο τὴν κιβωτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν ἅμαξαν καὶ τὸ θέμα εργαβ καὶ τοὺς μῦς τοὺς χρυσοῦς
Et posuerunt arcam Dei super plaustrum, et capsellam quae habebat mures aureos et similitudines anorum.
ወአንበርዋ፡ ውስተ፡ ውእቱ፡ ሰረገላ፡ ወአፍቃደ፡ አርጋብ፡ ወአናጹተ፡ ዘወርቅ።
They put Yahweh’s ark on the cart, and the box with the golden mice and the images of their tumors.
6:12
וַיִּשַּׁ֨רְנָה הַפָּר֜וֹת בַּדֶּ֗רֶךְ עַל־דֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ בֵּ֣ית שֶׁ֔מֶשׁ בִּמְסִלָּ֣ה אַחַ֗ת הָלְכ֤וּ הָלֹךְ֙ וְגָע֔וֹ וְלֹא־סָ֖רוּ יָמִ֣ין וּשְׂמֹ֑אול וְסַרְנֵ֤י פְלִשְׁתִּים֙ הֹלְכִ֣ים אַחֲרֵיהֶ֔ם עַד־גְּב֖וּל בֵּ֥ית שָֽׁמֶשׁ׃
καὶ κατεύθυναν αἱ βόες ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ εἰς ὁδὸν Βαιθσαμυς ἐν τρίβῳ ἑνὶ ἐπορεύοντο καὶ ἐκοπίων καὶ οὐ μεθίσταντο δεξιὰ οὐδὲ ἀριστερά καὶ οἱ σατράπαι τῶν ἀλλοφύλων ἐπορεύοντο ὀπίσω αὐτῆς ἕως ὁρίων Βαιθσαμυς
Ibant autem in directum vaccae per viam quae ducit Bethsames, et itinere uno gradiebantur, pergentes et mugientes : et non declinabant neque ad dextram neque ad sinistram : sed et satrapae Philisthiim sequebantur usque ad terminos Bethsames.
ወአርትዓ፡ ሐዊረ፡ እማንቱ፡ እጐላት፡ ውስተ፡ ፍኖት፡ ዘቤተ፡ ሳሚስ፡ ወሖራ፡ ውስተ፡ መጽያሕት፡ ወኢተግሕሣ፡ ኢለየማን፡ ወኢለፀጋም፡ ወተለውዋ፡ መሳፍንተ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ወሖሩ፡ እስከ፡ ደወለ፡ ቤተ፡ ሳሚስ።
The cows took the straight way by the way to Beth Shemesh. They went along the highway, lowing as they went, and didn’t turn away to the right hand or to the left; and the lords of the Philistines went after them to the border of Beth Shemesh.
6:13
וּבֵ֣ית שֶׁ֔מֶשׁ קֹצְרִ֥ים קְצִיר־חִטִּ֖ים בָּעֵ֑מֶק וַיִּשְׂא֣וּ אֶת־עֵינֵיהֶ֗ם וַיִּרְאוּ֙ אֶת־הָ֣אָר֔וֹן וַֽיִּשְׂמְח֖וּ לִרְאֽוֹת׃
καὶ οἱ ἐν Βαιθσαμυς ἐθέριζον θερισμὸν πυρῶν ἐν κοιλάδι καὶ ἦραν ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ εἶδον κιβωτὸν κυρίου καὶ ηὐφράνθησαν εἰς ἀπάντησιν αὐτῆς
Porro Bethsamitae metebant triticum in valle : et elevantes oculos suos, viderunt arcam, et gavisi sunt cum vidissent.
ወሰብአ፡ ቤተ፡ ሳሚስሰ፡ የዐፅዱ፡ ስርናየ፡ በውስተ፡ ገራውህ፡ ወሶበ፡ አልዐሉ፡ አዕይንቲሆሙ፡ ወርእይዋ፡ ለታቦተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወተፈሥሑ፡ ወተቀበልዋ።
The people of Beth Shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley; and they lifted up their eyes and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it.
6:14
וְהָעֲגָלָ֡ה בָּ֠אָה אֶל־שְׂדֵ֨ה יְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַ בֵּֽית־הַשִּׁמְשִׁי֙ וַתַּעֲמֹ֣ד שָׁ֔ם וְשָׁ֖ם אֶ֣בֶן גְּדוֹלָ֑ה וַֽיְבַקְּעוּ֙ אֶת־עֲצֵ֣י הָעֲגָלָ֔ה וְאֶ֨ת־הַפָּר֔וֹת הֶעֱל֥וּ עֹלָ֖ה לַיהֹוָֽה׃ {ס}
καὶ ἡ ἅμαξα εἰσῆλθεν εἰς ἀγρὸν Ωσηε τὸν ἐν Βαιθσαμυς καὶ ἔστησαν ἐκεῖ παρ’ αὐτῇ λίθον μέγαν καὶ σχίζουσιν τὰ ξύλα τῆς ἁμάξης καὶ τὰς βόας ἀνήνεγκαν εἰς ὁλοκαύτωσιν τῷ κυρίῳ
Et plaustrum venit in agrum Josue Bethsamitae, et stetit ibi. Erat autem ibi lapis magnus, et conciderunt ligna plaustri, vaccasque imposuerunt super ea holocaustum Domino.
ወቦአ፡ ዝክቱ፡ ሰረገላ፡ ውስተ፡ ገራህተ፡ አሤ፡ ዕ፡ ዘቤተ፡ ሳሚስ፡ ወአቆሙ፡ ህየ፡ እብነ፡ ዐቢየ፡ ወሠፀሩ፡ ዕፀዊሁ፡ ለውእቱ፡ ሰረገላ፡ ወገብርዎን፡ መሥዋዕተ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ለእልክቱ፡ እጐላት።
The cart came into the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh, and stood there, where there was a great stone. Then they split the wood of the cart and offered up the cows for a burnt offering to Yahweh.
6:15
וְהַלְוִיִּ֞ם הוֹרִ֣ידוּ׀ אֶת־אֲר֣וֹן יְהֹוָ֗ה וְאֶת־הָאַרְגַּ֤ז אֲשֶׁר־אִתּוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁר־בּ֣וֹ כְלֵֽי־זָהָ֔ב וַיָּשִׂ֖מוּ אֶל־הָאֶ֣בֶן הַגְּדוֹלָ֑ה וְאַנְשֵׁ֣י בֵֽית־שֶׁ֗מֶשׁ הֶעֱל֨וּ עֹל֜וֹת וַֽיִּזְבְּח֧וּ זְבָחִ֛ים בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא לַיהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ οἱ Λευῖται ἀνήνεγκαν τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ κυρίου καὶ τὸ θέμα εργαβ μετ’ αὐτῆς καὶ τὰ ἐπ’ αὐτῆς σκεύη τὰ χρυσᾶ καὶ ἔθεντο ἐπὶ τοῦ λίθου τοῦ μεγάλου καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες Βαιθσαμυς ἀνήνεγκαν ὁλοκαυτώσεις καὶ θυσίας ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ τῷ κυρίῳ
Levitae autem deposuerunt arcam Dei, et capsellam quae erat juxta eam, in qua erant vasa aurea, et posuerunt super lapidem grandem. Viri autem Bethsamitae obtulerunt holocausta, et immolaverunt victimas in die illa Domino.
ወሌዋውያን፡ ወሰድዋ፡ ለይእቲ፡ ታቦተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወተሜርገብ፡ ዘምስሌሃ፡ ወንዋየ፡ ወርቅ፡ ዘኀቤሃ፡ ወአንበሩ፡ ውስተ፡ ውእቱ፡ እብን፡ ዐቢይ፡ ወሰብአ፡ ቤተ፡ ሳሚስ፡ አብኡ፡ መሥዋዕተ፡ ወቍርባነ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ይእተ፡ አሚረ።
The Levites took down Yahweh’s ark and the box that was with it, in which the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone; and the men of Beth Shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day to Yahweh.
6:16
וַחֲמִשָּׁ֥ה סַרְנֵֽי־פְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים רָא֑וּ וַיָּשֻׁ֥בוּ עֶקְר֖וֹן בַּיּ֥וֹם הַהֽוּא׃ {ס}
καὶ οἱ πέντε σατράπαι τῶν ἀλλοφύλων ἑώρων καὶ ἀνέστρεψαν εἰς Ἀσκαλῶνα τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ
Et quinque satrapae Philisthinorum viderunt, et reversi sunt in Accaron in die illa.
ወርእዩ፡ እልክቱ፡ ኀምስቱ፡ መሳፍንት፡ ዘኢሎፍሊ፡ ወተመይጡ፡ ውስተ፡ አስቃሎና፡ በይእቲ፡ ዕለት።
When the five lords of the Philistines had seen it, they returned to Ekron the same day.
6:17
וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ טְחֹרֵ֣י הַזָּהָ֔ב אֲשֶׁ֨ר הֵשִׁ֧יבוּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֛ים אָשָׁ֖ם לַיהֹוָ֑ה {ס} לְאַשְׁדּ֨וֹד אֶחָ֜ד {ס} לְעַזָּ֤ה אֶחָד֙ {ס} לְאַשְׁקְל֣וֹן אֶחָ֔ד {ס} לְגַ֥ת אֶחָ֖ד {ס} לְעֶקְר֥וֹן אֶחָֽד׃ {ס}
καὶ αὗται αἱ ἕδραι αἱ χρυσαῖ ἃς ἀπέδωκαν οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι τῆς βασάνου τῷ κυρίῳ τῆς Ἀζώτου μίαν τῆς Γάζης μίαν τῆς Ἀσκαλῶνος μίαν τῆς Γεθ μίαν τῆς Ακκαρων μίαν
Hi sunt autem ani aurei quos reddiderunt Philisthiim pro delicto, Domino : Azotus unum, Gaza unum, Ascalon unum, Geth unum, Accaron unum :
ወዝንቱ፡ ምስሌነፍስቶሙ፡ ዘወርቅ፡ ዘወሀቡ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ሞጻ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፤ ዘአዛጦን፡ አሐቲ፡ ወዘጌት፡ አሐቲ፡ ወዘአቃሮን፡ አሐቲ፡ ወዘጋዛ፡ አሐቲ፡ ወዘአስቃሎና፡ አሐቲ።
These are the golden tumors which the Philistines returned for a trespass offering to Yahweh: for Ashdod one, for Gaza one, for Ashkelon one, for Gath one, for Ekron one;
6:18
וְעַכְבְּרֵ֣י הַזָּהָ֗ב מִסְפַּ֞ר כׇּל־עָרֵ֤י פְלִשְׁתִּים֙ לַחֲמֵ֣שֶׁת הַסְּרָנִ֔ים מֵעִ֣יר מִבְצָ֔ר וְעַ֖ד כֹּ֣פֶר הַפְּרָזִ֑י וְעַ֣ד׀ אָבֵ֣ל הַגְּדוֹלָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר הִנִּ֤יחוּ עָלֶ֙יהָ֙ אֵ֚ת אֲר֣וֹן יְהֹוָ֔ה עַ֚ד הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֔ה בִּשְׂדֵ֥ה יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ בֵּ֥ית הַשִּׁמְשִֽׁי׃
καὶ μῦς οἱ χρυσοῖ κατ’ ἀριθμὸν πασῶν πόλεων τῶν ἀλλοφύλων τῶν πέντε σατραπῶν ἐκ πόλεως ἐστερεωμένης καὶ ἕως κώμης τοῦ Φερεζαίου καὶ ἕως λίθου τοῦ μεγάλου οὗ ἐπέθηκαν ἐπ’ αὐτοῦ τὴν κιβωτὸν διαθήκης κυρίου τοῦ ἐν ἀγρῷ Ωσηε τοῦ Βαιθσαμυσίτου
et mures aureos secundum numerum urbium Philisthiim, quinque provinciarum, ab urbe murata usque ad villam quae erat absque muro, et usque ad Abelmagnum, super quem posuerunt arcam Domini, quae erat usque in illum diem in agro Josue Bethsamitis.
ወአናጹትኒ፡ ዘወርቅ፡ በኍልቈ፡ ኵሉ፡ አህጉሪሆሙ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ፡ ዘኀምስቱ፡ ምስፍና፡ አምውስተ፡ አህጉር፡ እለ፡ ቦን፡ ቅጽረ፡ እስከ፡ ዐጸደ፡ ፌርዜዎን፡ ወእስከ፡ አብን፡ ዐባይ፡ እንተ፡ ውስቴታ፡ አንበርዋ፡ ህየ፡ ለታቦተ፡ ሕጉ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ እንተ፡ ውስተ፡ ገራህቱ፡ ለአሴዕ፡ ዘቤተ፡ ሳሚስ።
and the golden mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both of fortified cities and of country villages, even to the great stone on which they set down Yahweh’s ark. That stone remains to this day in the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh.
6:19
וַיַּ֞ךְ בְּאַנְשֵׁ֣י בֵֽית־שֶׁ֗מֶשׁ כִּ֤י רָאוּ֙ בַּאֲר֣וֹן יְהֹוָ֔ה וַיַּ֤ךְ בָּעָם֙ שִׁבְעִ֣ים אִ֔ישׁ חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף אִ֑ישׁ וַיִּֽתְאַבְּל֣וּ הָעָ֔ם כִּֽי־הִכָּ֧ה יְהֹוָ֛ה בָּעָ֖ם מַכָּ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה׃
καὶ οὐκ ἠσμένισαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ιεχονιου ἐν τοῖς ἀνδράσιν Βαιθσαμυς ὅτι εἶδαν κιβωτὸν κυρίου καὶ ἐπάταξεν ἐν αὐτοῖς ἑβδομήκοντα ἄνδρας καὶ πεντήκοντα χιλιάδας ἀνδρῶν καὶ ἐπένθησεν ὁ λαός ὅτι ἐπάταξεν κύριος ἐν τῷ λαῷ πληγὴν μεγάλην σφόδρα
Percussit autem de viris Bethsamitibus, eo quod vidissent arcam Domini : et percussit de populo septuaginta viros, et quinquaginta millia plebis. Luxitque populus, eo quod Dominus percussisset plebem plaga magna.
ወኢተቀበልዋ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ኢያኮንዩ፡ ምስለ፡ ሰብአ፡ ቤተ፡ ሳሚስ፡ እንዘ፡ ይሬእይዋ፡ ለታቦተ፡ ሕጉ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወቀተለ፡ እምውስቴቶሙ፡ ኀምስተ፡ እልፈ፡ ወሰብዓ፡ ብእሴ፡ ወላሐዉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ እስመ፡ ቀተለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ እምሕዝብ፡ ዐቢየ፡ ቀትለ፡ ጥቀ።
He struck of the men of Beth Shemesh, because they had looked into Yahweh’s ark, he struck fifty thousand seventy of the men. Then the people mourned, because Yahweh had struck the people with a great slaughter.
6:20
וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ אַנְשֵׁ֣י בֵֽית־שֶׁ֔מֶשׁ מִ֚י יוּכַ֣ל לַעֲמֹ֔ד לִפְנֵ֨י יְהֹוָ֧ה הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים הַקָּד֖וֹשׁ הַזֶּ֑ה וְאֶל־מִ֖י יַעֲלֶ֥ה מֵעָלֵֽינוּ׃
καὶ εἶπαν οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ ἐκ Βαιθσαμυς τίς δυνήσεται διελθεῖν ἐνώπιον κυρίου τοῦ ἁγίου τούτου καὶ πρὸς τίνα ἀναβήσεται κιβωτὸς κυρίου ἀφ’ ἡμῶν
Et dixerunt viri Bethsamitae : Quis poterit stare in conspectu Domini Dei sancti hujus ? et ad quem ascendet a nobis ?
ወይቤሉ፡ ሰብአ፡ ቤተ፡ ሳሚስ፡ መኑ፡ ይክል፡ ኀሊፈ፡ ቅድሜሁ፡ ለዝንቱ፡ ቅዱስ፡ ወኀበ፡ መኑ፡ ተፀርግ፡ ታቦተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ እምኀቤነ።
The men of Beth Shemesh said, “Who is able to stand before Yahweh, this holy God? To whom shall he go up from us?”
6:21
וַֽיִּשְׁלְחוּ֙ מַלְאָכִ֔ים אֶל־יוֹשְׁבֵ֥י קִרְיַת־יְעָרִ֖ים לֵאמֹ֑ר הֵשִׁ֤בוּ פְלִשְׁתִּים֙ אֶת־אֲר֣וֹן יְהֹוָ֔ה רְד֕וּ הַעֲל֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ אֲלֵיכֶֽם׃
καὶ ἀποστέλλουσιν ἀγγέλους πρὸς τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Καριαθιαριμ λέγοντες ἀπεστρόφασιν ἀλλόφυλοι τὴν κιβωτὸν κυρίου κατάβητε καὶ ἀναγάγετε αὐτὴν πρὸς ἑαυτούς
Miseruntque nuntios ad habitatores Cariathiarim, dicentes : Reduxerunt Philisthiim arcam Domini : descendite, et reducite eam ad vos.
ወለአኩ፡ ሐዋርያተ፡ ኀበ፡ እለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ቀርያተ፡ ያርም፡ እንዘ፡ ይብሉ፡ አግብእዋ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ለታቦተ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፤ ረዱአ፡ ወንሥእዋአ፡ ኀቤክሙአ።
They sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kiriath Jearim, saying, “The Philistines have brought back Yahweh’s ark. Come down and bring it up to yourselves.”
