20:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְשָׁ֨ם נִקְרָ֜א אִ֣ישׁ בְּלִיַּ֗עַל וּשְׁמ֛וֹ שֶׁ֥בַע בֶּן ־בִּכְרִ֖י אִ֣ישׁ יְמִינִ֑י וַיִּתְקַ֣ע בַּשֹּׁפָ֗ר וַ֠יֹּ֠אמֶר אֵֽין ־לָ֨נוּ חֵ֜לֶק בְּדָוִ֗ד וְלֹ֤א נַחֲלָה ־לָ֙נוּ֙ בְּבֶן ־יִשַׁ֔י אִ֥ישׁ לְאֹהָלָ֖יו יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
καὶ ἐκεῖ ἐπικαλούμενος υἱὸς παράνομος καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῷ Σαβεε υἱὸς Βοχορι ἀνὴρ ὁ Ιεμενι καὶ ἐσάλπισεν ἐν τῇ κερατίνῃ καὶ εἶπεν οὐκ ἔστιν ἡμῖν μερὶς ἐν Δαυιδ οὐδὲ κληρονομία ἡμῖν ἐν τῷ υἱῷ Ιεσσαι ἀνὴρ εἰς τὰ σκηνώματά σου Ισραηλ
Accidit quoque ut ibi esset vir Belial , nomine Seba , filius Bochri , vir Jemineus : et cecinit buccina , et ait : Non est nobis pars in David , neque haereditas in filio Isai : revertere in tabernacula tua , Israël .
ወሀሎ ፡ ህየ ፡ ፩ወልደ ፡ ኀጢአት ፡ ዘስሙ ፡ ሳቡሔ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ቦከሪ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ኢያሜናዊ ፡ ወአንፍሐ ፡ ቀርነ ፡ ወይቤ ፡ አልብነ ፡ ክፍለ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ዳዊት ፤ ትልውዎ ፡ ለሳቡሔ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ቤኮሪ ።
There happened to be there a wicked fellow, whose name was Sheba the son of Bichri, a Benjamite; and he blew the trumpet, and said, “We have no portion in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to his tents, Israel!”
20:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֜עַל כׇּל ־אִ֤ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מֵאַחֲרֵ֣י דָוִ֔ד אַחֲרֵ֖י שֶׁ֣בַע בֶּן ־בִּכְרִ֑י וְאִ֤ישׁ יְהוּדָה֙ דָּבְק֣וּ בְמַלְכָּ֔ם מִן ־הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן וְעַד ־יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם ׃
καὶ ἀνέβη πᾶς ἀνὴρ Ισραηλ ἀπὸ ὄπισθεν Δαυιδ ὀπίσω Σαβεε υἱοῦ Βοχορι καὶ ἀνὴρ Ιουδα ἐκολλήθη τῷ βασιλεῖ αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ ἕως Ιερουσαλημ
Et separatus est omnis Israël a David , secutusque est Seba filium Bochri : viri autem Juda adhaeserunt regi suo a Jordane usque Jerusalem .
ወሰብአ ፡ ይሁዳሰ ፡ ተለዉ ፡ ንጉሦሙ ፡ እምነ ፡ ዮርዳኖስ ፡ እስከ ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም ።
So all the men of Israel went up from following David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri; but the men of Judah joined with their king, from the Jordan even to Jerusalem.
20:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיָּבֹ֨א דָוִ֣ד אֶל ־בֵּיתוֹ֮ יְרוּשָׁלַ֒͏ִם֒ וַיִּקַּ֣ח הַמֶּ֡לֶךְ אֵ֣ת עֶשֶׂר ־נָשִׁ֣ים ׀פִּלַגְשִׁ֡ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִנִּ֩יחַ֩ לִשְׁמֹ֨ר הַבַּ֜יִת וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֤ם בֵּית ־מִשְׁמֶ֙רֶת֙ וַֽיְכַלְכְּלֵ֔ם וַאֲלֵיהֶ֖ם לֹא ־בָ֑א וַתִּהְיֶ֧ינָה צְרֻר֛וֹת עַד ־י֥וֹם מֻתָ֖ן אַלְמְנ֥וּת חַיּֽוּת ׃ {ס}
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν Δαυιδ εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ εἰς Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἔλαβεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τὰς δέκα γυναῖκας τὰς παλλακὰς αὐτοῦ ἃς ἀφῆκεν φυλάσσειν τὸν οἶκον καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὰς ἐν οἴκῳ φυλακῆς καὶ διέθρεψεν αὐτὰς καὶ πρὸς αὐτὰς οὐκ εἰσῆλθεν καὶ ἦσαν συνεχόμεναι ἕως ἡμέρας θανάτου αὐτῶν χῆραι ζῶσαι
Cumque venisset rex in domum suam in Jerusalem , tulit decem mulieres concubinas quas dereliquerat ad custodiendam domum , et tradidit eas in custodiam , alimenta eis praebens : et non est ingressus ad eas , sed erant clausae usque in diem mortis suae in viduitate viventes .
ወነሥኦን ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ለዐሥሩ ፡ ዕቁባቲሁ ፡ እለ ፡ ኀደጎን ፡ ይዕቀባ ፡ ቤቶ ፡ ወአንበሮን ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ሙዓል ፡ ወበህየ ፡ ይሴስዮን ፡ ወኀቤሆንሰ ፡ ኢቦአ ፡ ወነበራ ፡ ኅቡረ ፡ ኵሎን ፡ መበለታተ ፡ እስከ ፡ አመ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ ሞታ ።
David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in custody and provided them with sustenance, but didn’t go in to them. So they were shut up to the day of their death, living in widowhood.
20:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ אֶל ־עֲמָשָׂ֔א הַזְעֶק ־לִ֥י אֶת ־אִישׁ ־יְהוּדָ֖ה שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת יָמִ֑ים וְאַתָּ֖ה פֹּ֥ה עֲמֹֽד ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς πρὸς Αμεσσαϊ βόησόν μοι τὸν ἄνδρα Ιουδα τρεῖς ἡμέρας σὺ δὲ αὐτοῦ στῆθι
Dixit autem rex Amasae : Convoca mihi omnes viros Juda in diem tertium , et tu adesto praesens .
ወይቤሎ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ለአሜሳይ ፡ ጸውዖሙ ፡ ሊተ ፡ ለሰብአ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ እስከ ፡ ሠሉስ ፡ ዕለት ፡ ወለሊከ ፡ ቁም ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ።
Then the king said to Amasa, “Call me the men of Judah together within three days, and be here present.”
20:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ עֲמָשָׂ֖א לְהַזְעִ֣יק אֶת ־יְהוּדָ֑ה (וייחר ) [וַיּ֕וֹחֶר ] מִן ־הַמּוֹעֵ֖ד אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְעָדֽוֹ ׃ {ס}
καὶ ἐπορεύθη Αμεσσαϊ τοῦ βοῆσαι τὸν Ιουδαν καὶ ἐχρόνισεν ἀπὸ τοῦ καιροῦ οὗ ἐτάξατο αὐτῷ Δαυιδ
Abiit ergo Amasa ut convocaret Judam , et moratus est extra placitum quod ei constituerat rex .
ወሖረ ፡ አሜሳይ ፡ ወጸውዖሙ ፡ ለሰብአ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ወጐንደየ ፡ እምነ ፡ ዕድሜው ፡ ዘአዘዞ ።
So Amasa went to call the men of Judah together, but he stayed longer than the set time which had been appointed to him.
20:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר דָּוִד֙ אֶל ־אֲבִישַׁ֔י עַתָּ֗ה יֵ֧רַֽע לָ֛נוּ שֶׁ֥בַע בֶּן ־בִּכְרִ֖י מִן ־אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם אַ֠תָּ֠ה קַ֞ח אֶת ־עַבְדֵ֤י אֲדֹנֶ֙יךָ֙ וּרְדֹ֣ף אַחֲרָ֔יו פֶּן ־מָ֥צָא ל֛וֹ עָרִ֥ים בְּצֻר֖וֹת וְהִצִּ֥יל עֵינֵֽנוּ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Αβεσσα νῦν κακοποιήσει ἡμᾶς Σαβεε υἱὸς Βοχορι ὑπὲρ Αβεσσαλωμ καὶ νῦν σὺ λαβὲ μετὰ σεαυτοῦ τοὺς παῖδας τοῦ κυρίου σου καὶ καταδίωξον ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ μήποτε ἑαυτῷ εὕρῃ πόλεις ὀχυρὰς καὶ σκιάσει τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς ἡμῶν
Ait autem David ad Abisai : Nunc magis afflicturus est nos Seba filius Bochri quam Absalom : tolle igitur servos domini tui , et persequere eum , ne forte inveniat civitates munitas , et effugiat nos .
ወይቤሎ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ለአቢሳ ፡ ይእዜ ፡ ይገብር ፡ ብነ ፡ እኪተ ፡ ስቡሔ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ቦከሪ ፡ እምነ ፡ እንተ ፡ ገብረ ፡ ላዕሌነ ፡ አበሴሎም ፡ እንተ ፡ ተአኪ ፡ ወይእዜኒ ፡ ንሣእ ፡ ደቀ ፡ እግዚእከ ፡ ሖር ፡ ዴግኖ ፡ ዮጊ ፡ ይረክብ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ሀገረ ፡ ጽንዕተ ፡ ወይጼልለነ ፡ አዕይንቲነ ።
David said to Abishai, “Now Sheba the son of Bichri will do us more harm than Absalom did. Take your lord’s servants and pursue after him, lest he get himself fortified cities, and escape out of our sight.”
20:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֵּצְא֤וּ אַחֲרָיו֙ אַנְשֵׁ֣י יוֹאָ֔ב וְהַכְּרֵתִ֥י וְהַפְּלֵתִ֖י וְכׇל ־הַגִּבֹּרִ֑ים וַיֵּֽצְאוּ֙ מִיר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם לִרְדֹּ֕ף אַחֲרֵ֖י שֶׁ֥בַע בֶּן ־בִּכְרִֽי ׃
καὶ ἐξῆλθον ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ οἱ ἄνδρες Ιωαβ καὶ ὁ Χερεθθι καὶ ὁ Φελεθθι καὶ πάντες οἱ δυνατοὶ καὶ ἐξῆλθαν ἐξ Ιερουσαλημ διῶξαι ὀπίσω Σαβεε υἱοῦ Βοχορι
Egressi sunt ergo cum eo viri Joab , Cerethi quoque et Phelethi : et omnes robusti exierunt de Jerusalem ad persequendum Seba filium Bochri .
ወወፅኡ ፡ ወዴገንዎ ፡ አቢሳ ፡ ወኬልቲ ፡ ወፌልቲ ፡ ወኵሎሙ ፡ ጽኑዓን ፡ ወወፅኡ ፡ እምነ ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም ፡ ወዴገኑ ፡ ወተለውዎ ፡ ለስቡሔ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ቤኮሪ ።
Joab’s men went out after him with the Cherethites, the Pelethites, and all the mighty men; and they went out of Jerusalem to pursue Sheba the son of Bichri.
20:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ הֵ֗ם עִם ־הָאֶ֤בֶן הַגְּדוֹלָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּגִבְע֔וֹן וַעֲמָשָׂ֖א בָּ֣א לִפְנֵיהֶ֑ם וְיוֹאָ֞ב חָג֣וּר ׀ מִדּ֣וֹ לְבֻשׁ֗וֹ וְעָלָ֞ו חֲג֥וֹר חֶ֙רֶב֙ מְצֻמֶּ֤דֶת עַל ־מׇתְנָיו֙ בְּתַעְרָ֔הּ וְה֥וּא יָצָ֖א וַתִּפֹּֽל ׃ {ס}
καὶ αὐτοὶ παρὰ τῷ λίθῳ τῷ μεγάλῳ τῷ ἐν Γαβαων καὶ Αμεσσαϊ εἰσῆλθεν ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν καὶ Ιωαβ περιεζωσμένος μανδύαν τὸ ἔνδυμα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπ’ αὐτῷ περιεζωσμένος μάχαιραν ἐζευγμένην ἐπὶ τῆς ὀσφύος αὐτοῦ ἐν κολεῷ αὐτῆς καὶ ἡ μάχαιρα ἐξῆλθεν καὶ ἔπεσεν
Cumque illi essent juxta lapidem grandem qui est in Gabaon , Amasa veniens occurrit eis . Porro Joab vestitus erat tunica stricta ad mensuram habitus sui , et desuper accinctus gladio dependente usque ad ilia , in vagina , qui fabricatus levi motu egredi poterat , et percutere .
ወአሜሳይ ፡ ቦአ ፡ ቅድሜሁ ፡ ወእሙንቱሰ ፡ ሀለዉ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እብን ፡ ዐቢይ ፡ እንተ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገባኦን ፡ ወኢዮአብሰ ፡ ይለብስ ፡ ልብሰ ፡ መንድያ ፡ ወቅኑት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ሔቇሁ ፡ ባቲ ።
When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. Joab was clothed in his apparel of war that he had put on, and on it was a sash with a sword fastened on his waist in its sheath; and as he went along it fell out.
20:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹאָב֙ לַעֲמָשָׂ֔א הֲשָׁל֥וֹם אַתָּ֖ה אָחִ֑י וַתֹּ֜חֶז יַד ־יְמִ֥ין יוֹאָ֛ב בִּזְקַ֥ן עֲמָשָׂ֖א לִנְשׇׁק ־לֽוֹ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ιωαβ τῷ Αμεσσαϊ εἰ ὑγιαίνεις σύ ἀδελφέ καὶ ἐκράτησεν ἡ χεὶρ ἡ δεξιὰ Ιωαβ τοῦ πώγωνος Αμεσσαϊ τοῦ καταφιλῆσαι αὐτόν
Dixit itaque Joab ad Amasam : Salve mi frater . Et tenuit manu dextera mentum Amasae , quasi osculans eum .
ወይቤሎ ፡ ኢዮአብ ፡ ለአሜሳይ ፡ ዳኀንኑ ፡ አንተ ፡ እኁየ ፡ ወአኀዞ ፡ ኢዮአብ ፡ በእዴሁ ፡ እንተ ፡ የማን ፡ ጽሕሞ ፡ ለአሜሳይ ፡ ወመልሐ ፡ መጥባሕቶ ።
Joab said to Amasa, “Is it well with you, my brother?” Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.
20:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַעֲמָשָׂ֨א לֹא ־נִשְׁמַ֜ר בַּחֶ֣רֶב ׀ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּיַד ־יוֹאָ֗ב וַיַּכֵּ֩הוּ֩ בָ֨הּ אֶל ־הַחֹ֜מֶשׁ וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֨ךְ מֵעָ֥יו אַ֛רְצָה וְלֹא ־שָׁ֥נָה ל֖וֹ וַיָּמֹ֑ת וְיוֹאָב֙ וַאֲבִישַׁ֣י אָחִ֔יו רָדַ֕ף אַחֲרֵ֖י שֶׁ֥בַע בֶּן ־בִּכְרִֽי ׃
καὶ Αμεσσαϊ οὐκ ἐφυλάξατο τὴν μάχαιραν τὴν ἐν τῇ χειρὶ Ιωαβ καὶ ἔπαισεν αὐτὸν ἐν αὐτῇ Ιωαβ εἰς τὴν ψόαν καὶ ἐξεχύθη ἡ κοιλία αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν γῆν καὶ οὐκ ἐδευτέρωσεν αὐτῷ καὶ ἀπέθανεν καὶ Ιωαβ καὶ Αβεσσα ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ ἐδίωξεν ὀπίσω Σαβεε υἱοῦ Βοχορι
Porro Amasa non observavit gladium quem habebat Joab : qui percussit eum in latere , et effudit intestina ejus in terram , nec secundum vulnus apposuit : et mortuus est . Joab autem , et Abisai frater ejus , persecuti sunt Seba filium Bochri .
ወኢያእመሮ ፡ አሜሳይ ፡ ከመ ፡ መጥባሕት ፡ ውስተ ፡ እዴሁ ፡ ወረገዞ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሐቇሁ ፡ ወተክዕወ ፡ ዘውስተ ፡ ከርሡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወኢደገሞ ፡ ወሞተ ፡ ባቲ ፡ ወኢዮአብ ፡ ወአቢሳ ፡ ተለውዎ ፡ ለስቡሔ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ቤኮሪ ።
But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab’s hand. So he struck him with it in the body and shed out his bowels to the ground, and didn’t strike him again; and he died. Joab and Abishai his brother pursued Sheba the son of Bichri.
20:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאִישׁ֙ עָמַ֣ד עָלָ֔יו מִֽנַּעֲרֵ֖י יוֹאָ֑ב וַיֹּ֗אמֶר מִי֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר חָפֵ֧ץ בְּיוֹאָ֛ב וּמִ֥י אֲשֶׁר ־לְדָוִ֖ד אַחֲרֵ֥י יוֹאָֽב ׃
καὶ ἀνὴρ ἔστη ἐπ’ αὐτὸν τῶν παιδαρίων Ιωαβ καὶ εἶπεν τίς ὁ βουλόμενος Ιωαβ καὶ τίς τοῦ Δαυιδ ὀπίσω Ιωαβ
Interea quidam viri , cum stetissent juxta cadaver Amasae , de sociis Joab , dixerunt : Ecce qui esse voluit pro Joab comes David .
ወ፩ብእሲ ፡ ቆመ ፡ መልዕልቶ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ደቀ ፡ ኢዮአብ ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ምንት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘይፈቅድ ፡ ኢዮአብ ፡ ወመኑ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ እለ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ እለ ፡ ተለውዎ ፡ ለኢዮአብ ፡ እንዘ ፡ አሜሳይ ፡ ይሰክብ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደም ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ፍኖት ፤
One of Joab’s young men stood by him, and said, “He who favors Joab, and he who is for David, let him follow Joab!”
20:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַעֲמָשָׂ֛א מִתְגֹּלֵ֥ל בַּדָּ֖ם בְּת֣וֹךְ הַֽמְסִלָּ֑ה וַיַּ֨רְא הָאִ֜ישׁ כִּֽי ־עָמַ֣ד כׇּל ־הָעָ֗ם וַיַּסֵּב֩ אֶת ־עֲמָשָׂ֨א מִן ־הַֽמְסִלָּ֤ה הַשָּׂדֶה֙ וַיַּשְׁלֵ֤ךְ עָלָיו֙ בֶּ֔גֶד כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר רָאָ֔ה כׇּל ־הַבָּ֥א עָלָ֖יו וְעָמָֽד ׃
καὶ Αμεσσαϊ πεφυρμένος ἐν τῷ αἵματι ἐν μέσῳ τῆς τρίβου καὶ εἶδεν ὁ ἀνὴρ ὅτι εἱστήκει πᾶς ὁ λαός καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν τὸν Αμεσσαϊ ἐκ τῆς τρίβου εἰς ἀγρὸν καὶ ἐπέρριψεν ἐπ’ αὐτὸν ἱμάτιον καθότι εἶδεν πάντα τὸν ἐρχόμενον ἐπ’ αὐτὸν ἑστηκότα
Amasa autem conspersus sanguine jacebat in media via . Vidit hoc quidam vir , quod subsisteret omnis populus ad videndum eum , et amovit Amasam de via in agrum , operuitque eum vestimento , ne subsisterent transeuntes propter eum .
ወሶበ ፡ ርእየ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይቀውም ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ አግኀሦ ፡ ለአሜሳይ ፡ እምነ ፡ ፍኖት ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ወከደኖ ፡ አልባሰ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ርእየ ፡ ካመ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዘመጽአ ፡ ላዕሌሁ ፡ ይቀውም ፡ መልዕልቶ ።
Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the middle of the highway. When the man saw that all the people stood still, he carried Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a garment over him when he saw that everyone who came by him stood still.
20:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הֹגָ֖ה מִן ־הַֽמְסִלָּ֑ה עָבַ֤ר כׇּל ־אִישׁ֙ אַחֲרֵ֣י יוֹאָ֔ב לִרְדֹּ֕ף אַחֲרֵ֖י שֶׁ֥בַע בֶּן ־בִּכְרִֽי ׃
ἡνίκα δὲ ἔφθασεν ἐκ τῆς τρίβου παρῆλθεν πᾶς ἀνὴρ Ισραηλ ὀπίσω Ιωαβ τοῦ διῶξαι ὀπίσω Σαβεε υἱοῦ Βοχορι
Amoto ergo illo de via , transibat omnis vir sequens Joab ad persequendum Seba filium Bochri .
ወእምዝ ፡ ኀለፉ ፡ እምይእቲ ፡ ፍኖት ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወተለውዎ ፡ ለኢዮአብ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ይዴግኖ ፡ ለስቡሔ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ቤኮሪ ።
When he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab to pursue Sheba the son of Bichri.
20:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֞ר בְּכׇל ־שִׁבְטֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אָבֵ֛לָה וּבֵ֥ית מַעֲכָ֖ה וְכׇל ־הַבֵּרִ֑ים {ס} (ויקלהו ) [וַיִּקָּ֣הֲל֔וּ ] וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ אַף ־אַחֲרָֽיו ׃
καὶ διῆλθεν ἐν πάσαις φυλαῖς Ισραηλ εἰς Αβελ καὶ εἰς Βαιθμαχα καὶ πάντες ἐν Χαρρι καὶ ἐξεκκλησιάσθησαν καὶ ἦλθον κατόπισθεν αὐτοῦ
Porro ille transierat per omnes tribus Israël in Abelam et Bethmaacha : omnesque viri electi congregati fuerant ad eum .
ወሖረ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወውስተ ፡ አቤል ፡ ወውስተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ማክ ፡ ወተጋብኡ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ካራን ፡ ወመጽኡ ፡ እንተ ፡ ድኅሬሆሙ ።
He went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel, to Beth Maacah, and all the Berites. They were gathered together, and went also after him.
20:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיָּבֹ֜אוּ וַיָּצֻ֣רוּ עָלָ֗יו בְּאָבֵ֙לָה֙ בֵּ֣ית הַֽמַּעֲכָ֔ה וַיִּשְׁפְּכ֤וּ סֹֽלְלָה֙ אֶל ־הָעִ֔יר וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖ד בַּחֵ֑ל וְכׇל ־הָעָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֶת ־יוֹאָ֔ב מַשְׁחִיתִ֖ם לְהַפִּ֥יל הַחוֹמָֽה ׃
καὶ παρεγενήθησαν καὶ ἐπολιόρκουν ἐπ’ αὐτὸν τὴν Αβελ καὶ τὴν Βαιθμαχα καὶ ἐξέχεαν πρόσχωμα πρὸς τὴν πόλιν καὶ ἔστη ἐν τῷ προτειχίσματι καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ὁ μετὰ Ιωαβ ἐνοοῦσαν καταβαλεῖν τὸ τεῖχος
Venerunt itaque , et oppugnabant eum in Abela et in Bethmaacha , et circumdederunt munitionibus civitatem , et obsessa est urbs : omnis autem turba quae erat cum Joab , moliebatur destruere muros .
ወበጽሑ ፡ ወተቃተልዎሙ ፡ በአቤል ፡ ወበቤተ ፡ ማክ ፡ ወጐዩ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ወዐርጉ ፡ ወቆሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አረፍት ፡ ወፈቀዱ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ኢዮአብ ፡ ያውድቅዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ አረፍት ።
They came and besieged him in Abel of Beth Maacah, and they cast up a mound against the city, and it stood against the rampart; and all the people who were with Joab battered the wall to throw it down.
20:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַתִּקְרָ֛א אִשָּׁ֥ה חֲכָמָ֖ה מִן ־הָעִ֑יר שִׁמְע֤וּ שִׁמְעוּ֙ אִמְרוּ ־נָ֣א אֶל ־יוֹאָ֔ב קְרַ֣ב עַד ־הֵ֔נָּה וַאֲדַבְּרָ֖ה אֵלֶֽיךָ ׃
καὶ ἐβόησεν γυνὴ σοφὴ ἐκ τοῦ τείχους καὶ εἶπεν ἀκούσατε ἀκούσατε εἴπατε δὴ πρὸς Ιωαβ ἔγγισον ἕως ὧδε καὶ λαλήσω πρὸς αὐτόν
Et exclamavit mulier sapiens de civitate : Audite , audite : dicite Joab : Appropinqua huc , et loquar tecum .
ወጸርኀት ፡ ሎቱ ፡ አሐቲ ፡ ብእሲት ፡ እምነ ፡ አረፍት ፡ ወትቤ ፡ ስምዑኒ ፡ ስምዑኒ ፡ ወበልዎ ፡ ለኢዮአብ ፡ ቅረብ ፡ ዝየ ፡ ወእንግርከ ።
Then a wise woman cried out of the city, “Hear, hear! Please say to Joab, ‘Come near here, that I may speak with you.’”
20:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּקְרַ֣ב אֵלֶ֔יהָ וַתֹּ֧אמֶר הָאִשָּׁ֛ה הַאַתָּ֥ה יוֹאָ֖ב וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אָ֑נִי וַתֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ שְׁמַע֙ דִּבְרֵ֣י אֲמָתֶ֔ךָ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר שֹׁמֵ֥עַ אָנֹֽכִי ׃
καὶ προσήγγισεν πρὸς αὐτήν καὶ εἶπεν ἡ γυνή εἰ σὺ εἶ Ιωαβ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἐγώ εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ἄκουσον τοὺς λόγους τῆς δούλης σου καὶ εἶπεν Ιωαβ ἀκούω ἐγώ εἰμι
Qui cum accessisset ad eam , ait illi : Tu es Joab ? Et ille respondit : Ego . Ad quem sic locuta est : Audi sermones ancillae tuae . Qui respondit : Audio .
ወቀርበ ፡ ኀቤሃ ፡ ወትቤሎ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ብእሲት ፡ አንተኑ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ኢዮአብ ፡ ወይቤላ ፡ እወ ፡ አነ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወትቤሎ ፡ ስማዕ ፡ ቃለ ፡ አመትከ ፡ ወይቤላ ፡ ኢዮአብ ፡ እሰምዕ ፡ አነ ፡ ውእቱ ።
He came near to her; and the woman said, “Are you Joab?” He answered, “I am.” Then she said to him, “Hear the words of your servant.” He answered, “I’m listening.”
20:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַתֹּ֖אמֶר לֵאמֹ֑ר דַּבֵּ֨ר יְדַבְּר֤וּ בָרִֽאשֹׁנָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר שָׁא֧וֹל יְשָׁאֲל֛וּ בְּאָבֵ֖ל וְכֵ֥ן הֵתַֽמּוּ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν λέγουσα λόγον ἐλάλησαν ἐν πρώτοις λέγοντες ἠρωτημένος ἠρωτήθη ἐν τῇ Αβελ καὶ ἐν Δαν εἰ ἐξέλιπον ἃ ἔθεντο οἱ πιστοὶ τοῦ Ισραηλ ἐρωτῶντες ἐπερωτήσουσιν ἐν Αβελ καὶ οὕτως εἰ ἐξέλιπον
Rursumque illa : Sermo , inquit , dicebatur in veteri proverbio : Qui interrogant , interrogent in Abela : et sic perficiebant .
ወትቤ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ትብል ፡ ቃለ ፡ ነበቡ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ቀደምት ፡ ወይቤሉ ፡ ሐቲተ ፡ ሕትዎ ፡ ለአቤል ፡ ወርእዩ ፡ እመ ፡ ኀልቀ ፡ ዘሤሙ ፡ በውስተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ተሰአልዎ ፡ ወሕትዎ ፡ ለአቤል ፡ ወበዝንቱ ፡ ኀልቀ ።
Then she spoke, saying, “They used to say in old times, ‘They shall surely ask counsel at Abel,’ and so they settled a matter.
20:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ אָנֹכִ֕י שְׁלֻמֵ֖י אֱמוּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אַתָּ֣ה מְבַקֵּ֗שׁ לְהָמִ֨ית עִ֤יר וְאֵם֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לָ֥מָּה תְבַלַּ֖ע נַחֲלַ֥ת יְהֹוָֽה ׃ {פ}
ἐγώ εἰμι εἰρηνικὰ τῶν στηριγμάτων Ισραηλ σὺ δὲ ζητεῖς θανατῶσαι πόλιν καὶ μητρόπολιν ἐν Ισραηλ ἵνα τί καταποντίζεις κληρονομίαν κυρίου
Nonne ego sum quae respondeo veritatem in Israël , et tu quaeris subvertere civitatem et evertere matrem in Israël ? quare praecipitas haereditatem Domini ?
ወአንሰ ፡ እንተ ፡ ሰላም ፡ ወኀይሎሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ አንተ ፡ ወአንተ ፡ ተኀሥሥ ፡ ትቅትል ፡ ሀገረ ፡ ወደብረ ፡ ሀገረ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወለምንት ፡ ታሰጥም ፡ ርስቶ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ።
I am among those who are peaceable and faithful in Israel. You seek to destroy a city and a mother in Israel. Why will you swallow up Yahweh’s inheritance?”
20:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֥עַן יוֹאָ֖ב וַיֹּאמַ֑ר חָלִ֤ילָה חָלִ֙ילָה֙ לִ֔י אִם ־אֲבַלַּ֖ע וְאִם ־אַשְׁחִֽית ׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Ιωαβ καὶ εἶπεν ἵλεώς μοι ἵλεώς μοι εἰ καταποντιῶ καὶ εἰ διαφθερῶ
Respondensque Joab , ait : Absit , absit hoc a me : non praecipito , neque demolior .
ወአውሥአ ፡ ኢዮአብ ፡ ወይቤላ ፡ ሐሰ ፡ ሊተ ፡ ኢያስጥም ፡ ወኢያማስን ።
Joab answered, “Far be it, far be it from me, that I should swallow up or destroy.
20:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ לֹא ־כֵ֣ן הַדָּבָ֗ר כִּ֡י אִישׁ֩ מֵהַ֨ר אֶפְרַ֜יִם שֶׁ֧בַע בֶּן ־בִּכְרִ֣י שְׁמ֗וֹ נָשָׂ֤א יָדוֹ֙ בַּמֶּ֣לֶךְ בְּדָוִ֔ד תְּנוּ ־אֹת֣וֹ לְבַדּ֔וֹ וְאֵלְכָ֖ה מֵעַ֣ל הָעִ֑יר וַתֹּ֤אמֶר הָאִשָּׁה֙ אֶל ־יוֹאָ֔ב הִנֵּ֥ה רֹאשׁ֛וֹ מֻשְׁלָ֥ךְ אֵלֶ֖יךָ בְּעַ֥ד הַחוֹמָֽה ׃
οὐχ οὗτος ὁ λόγος ὅτι ἀνὴρ ἐξ ὄρους Εφραιμ Σαβεε υἱὸς Βοχορι ὄνομα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπῆρεν τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὸν βασιλέα Δαυιδ δότε αὐτόν μοι μόνον καὶ ἀπελεύσομαι ἀπάνωθεν τῆς πόλεως καὶ εἶπεν ἡ γυνὴ πρὸς Ιωαβ ἰδοὺ ἡ κεφαλὴ αὐτοῦ ῥιφήσεται πρὸς σὲ διὰ τοῦ τείχους
Non sic se habet res , sed homo de monte Ephraim , Seba filius Bochri cognomine , levavit manum suam contra regem David : tradite illum solum , et recedemus a civitate . Et ait mulier ad Joab : Ecce caput ejus mittetur ad te per murum .
አኮ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ነገሩ ፤ ብእሲ ፡ ዘእምነ ፡ ደብረ ፡ ኤፍሬም ፡ ስቡሔ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ቤኮሪ ፡ ይብልዎ ፡ ዘአንሥአ ፡ እዴሁ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ኪያሁ ፡ ሀቡኒ ፡ ባሕቲቶ ፡ ወአሐውር ፡ እምነ ፡ መልዕልተ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ወትቤሎ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ብእሲት ፡ ለኢዮአብ ፡ ናሁ ፡ ርአሶ ፡ ይወግሩ ፡ ለከ ፡ እንተ ፡ ዲበ ፡ አረፍት ።
The matter is not so. But a man of the hill country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, has lifted up his hand against the king, even against David. Just deliver him, and I will depart from the city.” The woman said to Joab, “Behold, his head will be thrown to you over the wall.”
20:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַתָּבוֹא֩ הָאִשָּׁ֨ה אֶל ־כׇּל ־הָעָ֜ם בְּחׇכְמָתָ֗הּ וַֽיִּכְרְת֞וּ אֶת ־רֹ֨אשׁ שֶׁ֤בַע בֶּן ־בִּכְרִי֙ וַיַּשְׁלִ֣כוּ אֶל ־יוֹאָ֔ב וַיִּתְקַע֙ בַּשֹּׁפָ֔ר וַיָּפֻ֥צוּ מֵעַל ־הָעִ֖יר אִ֣ישׁ לְאֹהָלָ֑יו וְיוֹאָ֛ב שָׁ֥ב יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם אֶל ־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ ׃ {ס}
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν ἡ γυνὴ πρὸς πάντα τὸν λαὸν καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς πᾶσαν τὴν πόλιν ἐν τῇ σοφίᾳ αὐτῆς καὶ ἀφεῖλεν τὴν κεφαλὴν Σαβεε υἱοῦ Βοχορι καὶ ἔβαλεν πρὸς Ιωαβ καὶ ἐσάλπισεν ἐν κερατίνῃ καὶ διεσπάρησαν ἀπὸ τῆς πόλεως ἀνὴρ εἰς τὰ σκηνώματα αὐτοῦ καὶ Ιωαβ ἀπέστρεψεν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα
Ingressa est ergo ad omnem populum , et locuta est eis sapienter : qui abscissum caput Seba filii Bochri projecerunt ad Joab . Et ille cecinit tuba , et recesserunt ab urbe , unusquisque in tabernacula sua : Joab autem reversus est Jerusalem ad regem .
ወቦአት ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ብእሲት ፡ ኀበ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወነበበቶሙ ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ሀገር ፡ በጥበባ ፡ ወመተሩ ፡ ርእሶ ፡ ለስቡሔ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ቤኮሪ ፡ ወወገረት ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ለኢዮአብ ፡ ወአንፍሐ ፡ ቀርነ ፡ ወኀለፈ ፡ እምነ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ወአተወ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አብያቲሁ ፡ ወኢዮአብኒ ፡ አተወ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም ፡ ኀበ ፡ ንጉሥ ።
Then the woman went to all the people in her wisdom. They cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and threw it out to Joab. He blew the trumpet, and they were dispersed from the city, every man to his tent. Then Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.
20:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְיוֹאָ֕ב אֶ֥ל כׇּל ־הַצָּבָ֖א יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וּבְנָיָה֙ בֶּן ־יְה֣וֹיָדָ֔ע עַל ־(הכרי ) [הַכְּרֵתִ֖י ] וְעַל ־הַפְּלֵתִֽי ׃
καὶ Ιωαβ πρὸς πάσῃ τῇ δυνάμει Ισραηλ καὶ Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε ἐπὶ τοῦ Χερεθθι καὶ ἐπὶ τοῦ Φελεθθι
Fuit ergo Joab super omnem exercitum Israël : Banaias autem filius Jojadae super Cerethaeos et Phelethaeos :
ወኢዮአብ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ኀይለ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወበንያስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ አኪሉ ፡ ዘዲበ ፡ ኬልቲ ፡ ወፌልቲ ።
Now Joab was over all the army of Israel, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and over the Pelethites,
20:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַאֲדֹרָ֖ם עַל ־הַמַּ֑ס וִיהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט בֶּן ־אֲחִיל֖וּד הַמַּזְכִּֽיר ׃
καὶ Αδωνιραμ ἐπὶ τοῦ φόρου καὶ Ιωσαφατ υἱὸς Αχιλουθ ἀναμιμνῄσκων
Aduram vero super tributa : porro Josaphat filius Ahilud , a commentariis :
ወአዶኒረም ፡ ላዕለ ፡ [ፆር ፡] ወዮስፋጥ ፡ ወልደ ፡ አኪሉት ፡ መዘክር ፤
Adoram was over the men subject to forced labor, Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was the recorder,
20:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ (ושיא ) [וּשְׁוָ֖א ] סֹפֵ֑ר וְצָד֥וֹק וְאֶבְיָתָ֖ר כֹּהֲנִֽים ׃
καὶ Σουσα γραμματεύς καὶ Σαδωκ καὶ Αβιαθαρ ἱερεῖς
Siva autem , scriba : Sadoc vero et Abiathar , sacerdotes .
ወኢዩሱስ ፡ ጸሓፊ ፡ ወሳዶቀ ፡ ወአብያታር ፡ ካህናት ፤
Sheva was scribe, Zadok and Abiathar were priests,
20:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְגַ֗ם עִירָא֙ הַיָּ֣אִרִ֔י הָיָ֥ה כֹהֵ֖ן לְדָוִֽד ׃ {ס}
καί γε Ιρας ὁ Ιαριν ἦν ἱερεὺς τοῦ Δαυιδ
Ira autem Jairites erat sacerdos David .
ወጋይራስ ፡ ካህን ፡ ለዳዊት ።
and Ira the Jairite was chief minister to David.
