21:1
וַיְהִ֣י רָעָב֩ בִּימֵ֨י דָוִ֜ד שָׁלֹ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֗ים שָׁנָה֙ אַחֲרֵ֣י שָׁנָ֔ה וַיְבַקֵּ֥שׁ דָּוִ֖ד אֶת־פְּנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה {ס} וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהֹוָ֗ה אֶל־שָׁאוּל֙ וְאֶל־בֵּ֣ית הַדָּמִ֔ים עַ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־הֵמִ֖ית אֶת־הַגִּבְעֹנִֽים׃
καὶ ἐγένετο λιμὸς ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις Δαυιδ τρία ἔτη ἐνιαυτὸς ἐχόμενος ἐνιαυτοῦ καὶ ἐζήτησεν Δαυιδ τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ κυρίου καὶ εἶπεν κύριος ἐπὶ Σαουλ καὶ ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ ἀδικία διὰ τὸ αὐτὸν θανάτῳ αἱμάτων περὶ οὗ ἐθανάτωσεν τοὺς Γαβαωνίτας
Facta est quoque fames in diebus David tribus annis jugiter : et consuluit David oraculum Domini. Dixitque Dominus : Propter Saul, et domum ejus sanguinum, quia occidit Gabaonitas.
ወኮነ፡ ረኃብ፡ በመዋዕለ፡ ዳዊት፡ ፫ዓመተ፡ ወ[ተታለ]ወ፡ ዓመታቲሁ፡ ወኀሠሠ፡ ዳዊት፡ ቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ላዕለ፡ ሳኦል፡ ወላዕለ፡ ቤቱ፡ ዐመፃ፡ እስመ፡ ቀታሌ፡ ነፍስ፡ ውእቱ፡ እስመ፡ ቀተሎሙ፡ ለገባኦን።
There was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David sought the face of Yahweh. Yahweh said, “It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he put the Gibeonites to death.”
21:2
וַיִּקְרָ֥א הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ לַגִּבְעֹנִ֖ים וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֑ם וְהַגִּבְעֹנִ֞ים לֹ֣א מִבְּנֵ֧י יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל הֵ֗מָּה כִּ֚י אִם־מִיֶּ֣תֶר הָאֱמֹרִ֔י וּבְנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ נִשְׁבְּע֣וּ לָהֶ֔ם וַיְבַקֵּ֤שׁ שָׁאוּל֙ לְהַכֹּתָ֔ם בְּקַנֹּאת֥וֹ לִבְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וִיהוּדָֽה׃
καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυιδ τοὺς Γαβαωνίτας καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς καὶ οἱ Γαβαωνῖται οὐχ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ εἰσίν ὅτι ἀλλ’ ἢ ἐκ τοῦ λείμματος τοῦ Αμορραίου καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ὤμοσαν αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐζήτησεν Σαουλ πατάξαι αὐτοὺς ἐν τῷ ζηλῶσαι αὐτὸν τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ καὶ Ιουδα
Vocatis ergo Gabaonitis rex, dixit ad eos (porro Gabaonitae non erant de filiis Israël, sed reliquiae Amorrhaeorum : filii quippe Israël juraverant eis, et voluit Saul percutere eos zelo, quasi pro filiis Israël et Juda),
ወጸውዖሙ፡ ዳዊት፡ ንጉሥ፡ ለሰብአ፡ ገባኦን፡ ወተናገሮሙ፡ ወሰብአ፡ ገባኦንሰ፡ ኢኮኑ፡ ደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ አላ፡ እምነ፡ ደመ፡ አሞሬዎን፡ እሙንቱ፡ ወመሐሉ፡ ሎሙ፡ ደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወፈቀደ፡ ሳኦል፡ ይቅትሎሙ፡ ሶበ፡ ቀንአ፡ ላዕለ፡ ደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወላዕለ፡ ይሁዳ።
The king called the Gibeonites and said to them (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites, and the children of Israel had sworn to them; and Saul sought to kill them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah);
21:3
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר דָּוִד֙ אֶל־הַגִּבְעֹנִ֔ים מָ֥ה אֶעֱשֶׂ֖ה לָכֶ֑ם וּבַמָּ֣ה אֲכַפֵּ֔ר וּבָרְכ֖וּ אֶת־נַחֲלַ֥ת יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ πρὸς τοὺς Γαβαωνίτας τί ποιήσω ὑμῖν καὶ ἐν τίνι ἐξιλάσομαι καὶ εὐλογήσετε τὴν κληρονομίαν κυρίου
dixit ergo David ad Gabaonitas : Quid faciam vobis ? et quod erit vestri piaculum, ut benedicatis haereditati Domini ?
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ዳዊት፡ ለሰብአ፡ ገባኦን፡ ምንተ፡ እግበር፡ ለክሙ፡ ወበምንት፡ አስተስሪ፡ ወትባርኩ፡ ርስተ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
and David said to the Gibeonites, “What should I do for you? And with what should I make atonement, that you may bless Yahweh’s inheritance?”
21:4
וַיֹּ֧אמְרוּ ל֣וֹ הַגִּבְעֹנִ֗ים אֵֽין־[לָ֜נוּ] (לי) כֶּ֤סֶף וְזָהָב֙ עִם־שָׁא֣וּל וְעִם־בֵּית֔וֹ וְאֵֽין־לָ֥נוּ אִ֖ישׁ לְהָמִ֣ית בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיֹּ֛אמֶר מָה־אַתֶּ֥ם אֹמְרִ֖ים אֶעֱשֶׂ֥ה לָכֶֽם׃
καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ οἱ Γαβαωνῖται οὐκ ἔστιν ἡμῖν ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον μετὰ Σαουλ καὶ μετὰ τοῦ οἴκου αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἡμῖν ἀνὴρ θανατῶσαι ἐν Ισραηλ καὶ εἶπεν τί ὑμεῖς λέγετε καὶ ποιήσω ὑμῖν
Dixeruntque ei Gabaonitae : Non est nobis super argento et auro quaestio, sed contra Saul, et contra domum ejus : neque volumus ut interficiatur homo de Israël. Ad quos rex ait : Quid ergo vultis ut faciam vobis ?
ወይቤልዎ፡ ሰብአ፡ ገባኦን፡ አልብነ፡ ወርቀ፡ ወብሩረ፡ ምስለ፡ ሳኦል፡ ወምስለ፡ ቤቱ፡ ወአልቦ፡ ዘንቀትል፡ እምውስተ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወይቤሎሙ፡ ምንተ፡ እንከ፡ ትብሉ፡ ወምንተ፡ እረሲ፡ ለክሙ።
The Gibeonites said to him, “It is no matter of silver or gold between us and Saul or his house; neither is it for us to put any man to death in Israel.” He said, “I will do for you whatever you say.”
21:5
וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ אֶל־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ הָאִישׁ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר כִּלָּ֔נוּ וַאֲשֶׁ֖ר דִּמָּה־לָ֑נוּ נִשְׁמַ֕דְנוּ מֵהִתְיַצֵּ֖ב בְּכׇל־גְּבֻ֥ל יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα ὁ ἀνὴρ συνετέλεσεν ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς καὶ ἐδίωξεν ἡμᾶς ὃς παρελογίσατο ἐξολεθρεῦσαι ἡμᾶς ἀφανίσωμεν αὐτὸν τοῦ μὴ ἑστάναι αὐτὸν ἐν παντὶ ὁρίῳ Ισραηλ
Qui dixerunt regi : Virum qui attrivit nos et oppressit inique, ita delere debemus, ut ne unus quidem residuus sit de stirpe ejus in cunctis finibus Israël.
ወይቤልዎ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ብእሲሰ፡ ገብረ፡ ላዕሌነ፡ ወሰደደነ፡ ወበከመ፡ ኀለየ፡ ይሠርወነ፡ ንሠርዎ፡ ከመ፡ አልቦ፡ ዘይቁም፡ እምኔሁ፡ በውስተ፡ ኵሉ፡ ደወለ፡ እስራኤል።
They said to the king, “The man who consumed us and who plotted against us, that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the borders of Israel,
21:6
(ינתן) [יֻתַּן־]לָ֜נוּ שִׁבְעָ֤ה אֲנָשִׁים֙ מִבָּנָ֔יו וְהוֹקַֽעֲנוּם֙ לַיהֹוָ֔ה בְּגִבְעַ֥ת שָׁא֖וּל בְּחִ֣יר יְהֹוָ֑ה {פ} וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אֲנִ֥י אֶתֵּֽן׃
δότω ἡμῖν ἑπτὰ ἄνδρας ἐκ τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξηλιάσωμεν αὐτοὺς τῷ κυρίῳ ἐν Γαβαων Σαουλ ἐκλεκτοὺς κυρίου καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεύς ἐγὼ δώσω
Dentur nobis septem viri de filiis ejus, ut crucifigamus eos Domino in Gabaa Saul, quondam electi Domini. Et ait rex : Ego dabo.
ሀበነ፡ ፯ዕደወ፡ እምውስተ፡ ደቂቁ፡ ወንሡዖሙ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ በገባኦን፡ እምነ፡ ዘሳኦል፡ ኅሩዩ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወይቤሎሙ፡ ንጉሥ፡ አነ፡ እሁበክሙ።
let seven men of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them up to Yahweh in Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of Yahweh.” The king said, “I will give them.”
21:7
וַיַּחְמֹ֣ל הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ עַל־מְפִיבֹ֖שֶׁת בֶּן־יְהוֹנָתָ֣ן בֶּן־שָׁא֑וּל עַל־שְׁבֻעַ֤ת יְהֹוָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בֵּינֹתָ֔ם בֵּ֣ין דָּוִ֔ד וּבֵ֖ין יְהוֹנָתָ֥ן בֶּן־שָׁאֽוּל׃
καὶ ἐφείσατο ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐπὶ Μεμφιβοσθε υἱὸν Ιωναθαν υἱοῦ Σαουλ διὰ τὸν ὅρκον κυρίου τὸν ἀνὰ μέσον αὐτῶν ἀνὰ μέσον Δαυιδ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Ιωναθαν υἱοῦ Σαουλ
Pepercitque rex Miphiboseth filio Jonathae filii Saul, propter jusjurandum Domini quod fuerat inter David et inter Jonathan filium Saul.
ወመሐኮ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ለሜንፎብስቴ፡ ወልደ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወልደ፡ ሳኦል፡ በእንተ፡ መሐላ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘማእከሎሙ፡ ዘማእከለ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወማእከለ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወልደ፡ ሳኦል።
But the king spared Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of Yahweh’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
21:8
וַיִּקַּ֣ח הַמֶּ֡לֶךְ אֶת־שְׁ֠נֵ֠י בְּנֵ֨י רִצְפָּ֤ה בַת־אַיָּה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָלְדָ֣ה לְשָׁא֔וּל אֶת־אַרְמֹנִ֖י וְאֶת־מְפִבֹ֑שֶׁת וְאֶת־חֲמֵ֗שֶׁת בְּנֵי֙ מִיכַ֣ל בַּת־שָׁא֔וּל אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָלְדָ֛ה לְעַדְרִיאֵ֥ל בֶּן־בַּרְזִלַּ֖י הַמְּחֹלָתִֽי׃
καὶ ἔλαβεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τοὺς δύο υἱοὺς Ρεσφα θυγατρὸς Αια οὓς ἔτεκεν τῷ Σαουλ τὸν Ερμωνι καὶ τὸν Μεμφιβοσθε καὶ τοὺς πέντε υἱοὺς Μιχολ θυγατρὸς Σαουλ οὓς ἔτεκεν τῷ Εσριηλ υἱῷ Βερζελλι τῷ Μοουλαθι
Tulit itaque rex duos filios Respha filiae Aja quos peperit Sauli, Armoni, et Miphiboseth : et quinque filios Michol filiae Saul quos genuerat Hadrieli filio Berzellai, qui fuit de Molathi,
ወነሥአ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ፪ደቂቃ፡ ለሩሳፋ፡ ወለተ፡ ኤአ፡ ዘወለደት፡ ለሳኦል፡ ሄርሞንስቴ፡ ወሜንፎብስቴ፡ ወ፭ደቂቃ፡ ለሜሮብ፡ ዘወለደት፡ ለኤሳድራ፡ ወልደ፡ ቤርዜሊ፡ ዘሞሐለቲ።
But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bore to Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Merab the daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite.
21:9
וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֞ם בְּיַ֣ד הַגִּבְעֹנִ֗ים וַיֹּקִיעֻ֤ם בָּהָר֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה וַיִּפְּל֥וּ (שבעתים) [שְׁבַעְתָּ֖ם] יָ֑חַד (והם) [וְהֵ֨מָּה] הֻמְת֜וּ בִּימֵ֤י קָצִיר֙ בָּרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים (תחלת) [בִּתְחִלַּ֖ת] קְצִ֥יר שְׂעֹרִֽים׃
καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοὺς ἐν χειρὶ τῶν Γαβαωνιτῶν καὶ ἐξηλίασαν αὐτοὺς ἐν τῷ ὄρει ἔναντι κυρίου καὶ ἔπεσαν οἱ ἑπτὰ αὐτοὶ ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό καὶ αὐτοὶ δὲ ἐθανατώθησαν ἐν ἡμέραις θερισμοῦ ἐν πρώτοις ἐν ἀρχῇ θερισμοῦ κριθῶν
et dedit eos in manus Gabaonitarum : qui crucifixerunt eos in monte coram Domino : et ceciderunt hi septem simul occisi in diebus messis primis, incipiente messione hordei.
ወመጠዎሙ፡ ለሰብአ፡ ገባኦን፡ ውስተ፡ እዴሆሙ፡ ወሦዕዎሙ፡ ውስተ፡ ደብር፡ ቅድመ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወገብርዎሙ፡ ሰብዓቲሆሙ፡ ኅቡረ፡ ወሞቱ፡ እሙንቱ፡ በመዋዕለ፡ ማእረር፡ አመ፡ ቀዳሜ፡ የአሩ፡ ሰገመ።
He delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites; and they hanged them on the mountain before Yahweh, and all seven of them fell together. They were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, at the beginning of barley harvest.
21:10
וַתִּקַּ֣ח רִצְפָּה֩ בַת־אַיָּ֨ה אֶת־הַשַּׂ֜ק וַתַּטֵּ֨הוּ לָ֤הּ אֶל־הַצּוּר֙ מִתְּחִלַּ֣ת קָצִ֔יר עַ֛ד נִתַּךְ־מַ֥יִם עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם מִן־הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם וְלֹֽא־נָתְנָה֩ ע֨וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֜יִם לָנ֤וּחַ עֲלֵיהֶם֙ יוֹמָ֔ם וְאֶת־חַיַּ֥ת הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה לָֽיְלָה׃
καὶ ἔλαβεν Ρεσφα θυγάτηρ Αια τὸν σάκκον καὶ ἔπηξεν αὑτῇ πρὸς τὴν πέτραν ἐν ἀρχῇ θερισμοῦ κριθῶν ἕως ἔσταξεν ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ὕδωρ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκεν τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καταπαῦσαι ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἡμέρας καὶ τὰ θηρία τοῦ ἀγροῦ νυκτός
Tollens autem Respha filia Aja cilicium, substravit sibi supra petram ab initio messis, donec stillaret aqua super eos de caelo : et non dimisit aves lacerare eos per diem, neque bestias per noctem.
ወነሥአት፡ ራሳፋ፡ ወለተ፡ ኤአ፡ ሠቀ፡ ወረበበት፡ ውስተ፡ ኰኵሕ፡ አመ፡ ቀዳሜ፡ የዐፅዱ፡ ሰገመ፡ እስከ፡ አመ፡ አንጠብጠበ፡ ዝናም፡ ላዕሌሆሙ፡ እምሰማይ፡ ወኢያብሐት፡ አዕዋፈ፡ ሰማይ፡ ይረድ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ፡ መዓልተ፡ ወሌሊተ፡ አርዌ፡ ገዳም።
Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it for herself on the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water poured on them from the sky. She allowed neither the birds of the sky to rest on them by day, nor the animals of the field by night.
21:11
וַיֻּגַּ֖ד לְדָוִ֑ד אֵ֧ת אֲשֶׁר־עָשְׂתָ֛ה רִצְפָּ֥ה בַת־אַיָּ֖ה פִּלֶ֥גֶשׁ שָׁאֽוּל׃
καὶ ἀπηγγέλη τῷ Δαυιδ ὅσα ἐποίησεν Ρεσφα θυγάτηρ Αια παλλακὴ Σαουλ καὶ ἐξελύθησαν καὶ κατέλαβεν αὐτοὺς Δαν υἱὸς Ιωα ἐκ τῶν ἀπογόνων τῶν γιγάντων
Et nuntiata sunt David quae fecerat Respha filia Aja, concubina Saul.
ወዜነውዎ፡ ለዳዊት፡ ኵሎ፡ ዘገብረት፡ ሬሳፋ፡ ወለተ፡ ኤአ፡ ዕቅብቱ፡ ለሳኦል።
David was told what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.
21:12
וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֗ד וַיִּקַּ֞ח אֶת־עַצְמ֤וֹת שָׁאוּל֙ וְאֶת־עַצְמוֹת֙ יְהוֹנָתָ֣ן בְּנ֔וֹ מֵאֵ֕ת בַּעֲלֵ֖י יָבֵ֣ישׁ גִּלְעָ֑ד אֲשֶׁר֩ גָּנְב֨וּ אֹתָ֜ם מֵרְחֹ֣ב בֵּֽית־שַׁ֗ן אֲשֶׁ֨ר (תלום שם הפלשתים) [תְּלָא֥וּם שָׁ֙מָּה֙ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים] בְּי֨וֹם הַכּ֧וֹת פְּלִשְׁתִּ֛ים אֶת־שָׁא֖וּל בַּגִּלְבֹּֽעַ׃
καὶ ἐπορεύθη Δαυιδ καὶ ἔλαβεν τὰ ὀστᾶ Σαουλ καὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ Ιωναθαν τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ παρὰ τῶν ἀνδρῶν υἱῶν Ιαβις Γαλααδ οἳ ἔκλεψαν αὐτοὺς ἐκ τῆς πλατείας Βαιθσαν ὅτι ἔστησαν αὐτοὺς ἐκεῖ οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ ἐπάταξαν οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι τὸν Σαουλ ἐν Γελβουε
Et abiit David, et tulit ossa Saul, et ossa Jonathae filii ejus, a viris Jabes Galaad, qui furati fuerant ea de platea Bethsan in qua suspenderant eos Philisthiim cum interfecissent Saul in Gelboë :
ወሖረ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወነሥአ፡ አዕጽምቲሁ፡ ለሳኦል፡ ወአዕጽምቲሁ፡ ለዮናታን፡ ወልዱ፡ እምኀበ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ኢያቢስ፡ ዘገለዓድ፡ [ዘ]ሰረቅዎሙ፡ እምነ፡ መርሕበ፡ ቤድሳን፡ እስመ፡ አቀምዎሙ፡ ህየ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ አመ፡ ቀተልዎ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ለሳኦል፡ በጌላቡሔ።
So David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh Gilead, who had stolen them from the street of Beth Shan, where the Philistines had hanged them in the day that the Philistines killed Saul in Gilboa;
21:13
וַיַּ֤עַל מִשָּׁם֙ אֶת־עַצְמ֣וֹת שָׁא֔וּל וְאֶת־עַצְמ֖וֹת יְהוֹנָתָ֣ן בְּנ֑וֹ וַיַּ֣אַסְפ֔וּ אֶת־עַצְמ֖וֹת הַמּוּקָעִֽים׃
καὶ ἀνήνεγκεν ἐκεῖθεν τὰ ὀστᾶ Σαουλ καὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ Ιωναθαν τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ συνήγαγεν τὰ ὀστᾶ τῶν ἐξηλιασμένων
et asportavit inde ossa Saul, et ossa Jonathae filii ejus : et colligentes ossa eorum qui affixi fuerant,
ወኦምጽአ፡ እምህየ፡ አዕጽምተ፡ ሳኦል፡ ወአዕጽምተ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወልዱ፡ ወአዕጽምቶሙ፡ ለእለ፡ ሦዑ፡ አስተጋብአ።
and he brought up from there the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son. They also gathered the bones of those who were hanged.
21:14
וַיִּקְבְּר֣וּ אֶת־עַצְמוֹת־שָׁא֣וּל וִיהוֹנָֽתָן־בְּ֠נ֠וֹ בְּאֶ֨רֶץ בִּנְיָמִ֜ן בְּצֵלָ֗ע בְּקֶ֙בֶר֙ קִ֣ישׁ אָבִ֔יו וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֔וּ כֹּ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֖ה הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיֵּעָתֵ֧ר אֱלֹהִ֛ים לָאָ֖רֶץ אַחֲרֵי־כֵֽן׃ {פ}
καὶ ἔθαψαν τὰ ὀστᾶ Σαουλ καὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ Ιωναθαν τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ τῶν ἡλιασθέντων ἐν γῇ Βενιαμιν ἐν τῇ πλευρᾷ ἐν τῷ τάφῳ Κις τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐποίησαν πάντα ὅσα ἐνετείλατο ὁ βασιλεύς καὶ ἐπήκουσεν ὁ θεὸς τῇ γῇ μετὰ ταῦτα
sepelierunt ea cum ossibus Saul et Jonathae filii ejus in terra Benjamin, in latere, in sepulchro Cis patris ejus : feceruntque omnia quae praeceperat rex, et repropitiatus est Deus terrae post haec.
ወቀበረ፡ አዕጽምተ፡ ሳኦል፡ ወአዕጽምተ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወልዱ፡ ወአዕጽምቶሙ፡ ለእለ፡ ሦዑ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድረ፡ ብንያም፡ በገቦ፡ መቃብረ፡ ቂስ፡ አቡሁ፡ ወገብሩ፡ ኵሎ፡ ዘአዘዞሙ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወሰምዓ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለምድር፡ እምድኅረ፡ ዝንቱ።
They buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son in the country of Benjamin in Zela, in the tomb of Kish his father; and they performed all that the king commanded. After that, God answered prayer for the land.
21:15
וַתְּהִי־ע֧וֹד מִלְחָמָ֛ה לַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיֵּ֨רֶד דָּוִ֜ד וַעֲבָדָ֥יו עִמּ֛וֹ וַיִּלָּחֲמ֥וּ אֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים וַיָּ֥עַף דָּוִֽד׃
καὶ ἐγενήθη ἔτι πόλεμος τοῖς ἀλλοφύλοις μετὰ Ισραηλ καὶ κατέβη Δαυιδ καὶ οἱ παῖδες αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπολέμησαν μετὰ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἐξελύθη Δαυιδ
Factum est autem rursum praelium Philisthinorum adversum Israël, et descendit David, et servi ejus cum eo, et pugnabant contra Philisthiim. Deficiente autem David,
ወኮነ፡ ዓዲ፡ ፀብአ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ምስለ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወወረደ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወደቁ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ወተቃተሉ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ወደክመ፡ ዳዊት።
The Philistines had war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines. David grew faint;
21:16
(וישבו) [וְיִשְׁבִּ֨י] בְנֹ֜ב אֲשֶׁ֣ר׀ בִּילִידֵ֣י הָרָפָ֗ה וּמִשְׁקַ֤ל קֵינוֹ֙ שְׁלֹ֤שׁ מֵאוֹת֙ מִשְׁקַ֣ל נְחֹ֔שֶׁת וְה֖וּא חָג֣וּר חֲדָשָׁ֑ה וַיֹּ֖אמֶר לְהַכּ֥וֹת אֶת־דָּוִֽד׃
καὶ Ιεσβι ὃς ἦν ἐν τοῖς ἐκγόνοις τοῦ Ραφα καὶ ὁ σταθμὸς τοῦ δόρατος αὐτοῦ τριακοσίων σίκλων ὁλκὴ χαλκοῦ καὶ αὐτὸς περιεζωσμένος κορύνην καὶ διενοεῖτο πατάξαι τὸν Δαυιδ
Jesbibenob, qui fuit de genere Arapha, cujus ferrum hastae trecentas uncias appendebat, et accinctus erat ense novo, nisus est percutere David.
ወተኣኀዙ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ምስለ፡ ሕዝበ፡ ራፋ፡ ወመጽአ፡ ፩መንገለ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወድልወተ፡ ኲናቱ፡ ፫፻ሰቅለ፡ ብርት፡ ወቅኑት፡ ውእቱ፡ በቆርኔን፡ ወፈቀደ፡ ይቅትሎ፡ ለዳዊት።
and Ishbibenob, who was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear was three hundred shekels of bronze in weight, he being armed with a new sword, thought he would kill David.
21:17
וַיַּֽעֲזׇר־לוֹ֙ אֲבִישַׁ֣י בֶּן־צְרוּיָ֔ה וַיַּ֥ךְ אֶת־הַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖י וַיְמִתֵ֑הוּ אָ֣ז נִשְׁבְּעוּ֩ אַנְשֵֽׁי־דָוִ֨ד ל֜וֹ לֵאמֹ֗ר לֹא־תֵצֵ֨א ע֤וֹד אִתָּ֙נוּ֙ לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה וְלֹ֥א תְכַבֶּ֖ה אֶת־נֵ֥ר יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐβοήθησεν αὐτῷ Αβεσσα υἱὸς Σαρουιας καὶ ἐπάταξεν τὸν ἀλλόφυλον καὶ ἐθανάτωσεν αὐτόν τότε ὤμοσαν οἱ ἄνδρες Δαυιδ λέγοντες οὐκ ἐξελεύσῃ ἔτι μεθ’ ἡμῶν εἰς πόλεμον καὶ οὐ μὴ σβέσῃς τὸν λύχνον Ισραηλ
Praesidioque ei fuit Abisai filius Sarviae, et percussum Philisthaeum interfecit. Tunc juraverunt viri David, dicentes : Jam non egredieris nobiscum in bellum, ne extinguas lucernam Israël.
ወወውዐ፡ ሎቱ፡ አቢሳ፡ ወልደ፡ ሶሩህያ፡ ወረገዞ፡ ለውእቱ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ወቀተሎ፡ ወይእተ፡ አሚረ፡ መሐሉ፡ ሰብአ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወይቤሉ፡ ከመ፡ ኢትወጽእ፡ እንከ፡ ምስሌነ፡ ውስተ፡ ፀብእ፡ ወኢትጥፋእ፡ ማኅቶቶሙ፡ ለእስራኤል።
But Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him, and struck the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swore to him, saying, “Don’t go out with us to battle any more, so that you don’t quench the lamp of Israel.”
21:18
וַֽיְהִי֙ אַֽחֲרֵי־כֵ֔ן וַתְּהִי־ע֧וֹד הַמִּלְחָמָ֛ה בְּג֖וֹב עִם־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים אָ֣ז הִכָּ֗ה סִבְּכַי֙ הַחֻ֣שָׁתִ֔י אֶת־סַ֕ף אֲשֶׁ֖ר בִּילִדֵ֥י הָרָפָֽה׃ {ס}
καὶ ἐγενήθη μετὰ ταῦτα ἔτι πόλεμος ἐν Γεθ μετὰ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων τότε ἐπάταξεν Σεβοχα ὁ Αστατωθι τὸν Σεφ τὸν ἐν τοῖς ἐκγόνοις τοῦ Ραφα
Secundum quoque bellum fuit in Gob contra Philisthaeos : tunc percussit Sobochai de Husati, Saph de stirpe Arapha de genere gigantum.
ወእምዝ፡ ኮነ፡ ዓዲ፡ ፀብእ፡ ውስተ፡ ጌት፡ ምስለ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ይእተ፡ አሚረ፡ ቀተሎ፡ ሴሜኮይ፡ ለአስጣጦቲ፡ ስፍጣዊ፡ በውስተ፡ ሕዝበ፡ ራፋ።
After this, there was again war with the Philistines at Gob. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Saph, who was of the sons of the giant.
21:19
וַתְּהִי־ע֧וֹד הַמִּלְחָמָ֛ה בְּג֖וֹב עִם־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וַיַּ֡ךְ אֶלְחָנָן֩ בֶּן־יַעְרֵ֨י אֹרְגִ֜ים בֵּ֣ית הַלַּחְמִ֗י אֵ֚ת גׇּלְיָ֣ת הַגִּתִּ֔י וְעֵ֣ץ חֲנִית֔וֹ כִּמְנ֖וֹר אֹרְגִֽים׃ {ס}
καὶ ἐγένετο ὁ πόλεμος ἐν Γοβ μετὰ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἐπάταξεν Ελεαναν υἱὸς Αριωργιμ ὁ Βαιθλεεμίτης τὸν Γολιαθ τὸν Γεθθαῖον καὶ τὸ ξύλον τοῦ δόρατος αὐτοῦ ὡς ἀντίον ὑφαινόντων
Tertium quoque fuit bellum in Gob contra Philisthaeos, in quo percussit Adeodatus filius Saltus polymitarius Bethlehemites Goliath Gethaeum, cujus hastile hastae erat quasi liciatorium texentium.
ወኮነ፡ ቀትል፡ በሮም፡ ምስለ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ወቀተሎ፡ ኤልያናን፡ ወልደ፡ አርዮጊ፡ ቤተ፡ ልሔማዊ፡ ለጎዶልያን፡ ጌትያዊ፡ ወዕፀ፡ ኲናቱ፡ መጠነ፡ ሰርዌ፡ ዐጥፍ፡ ዘመዓሥቃን።
There was again war with the Philistines at Gob, and Elhanan the son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite’s brother, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.
21:20
וַתְּהִי־ע֥וֹד מִלְחָמָ֖ה בְּגַ֑ת וַיְהִ֣י׀ אִ֣ישׁ (מדין) [מָד֗וֹן] וְאֶצְבְּעֹ֣ת יָדָיו֩ וְאֶצְבְּעֹ֨ת רַגְלָ֜יו שֵׁ֣שׁ וָשֵׁ֗שׁ עֶשְׂרִ֤ים וְאַרְבַּע֙ מִסְפָּ֔ר וְגַם־ה֖וּא יֻלַּ֥ד לְהָרָפָֽה׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ἔτι πόλεμος ἐν Γεθ καὶ ἦν ἀνὴρ Μαδων καὶ οἱ δάκτυλοι τῶν χειρῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ δάκτυλοι τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ ἓξ καὶ ἕξ εἴκοσι τέσσαρες ἀριθμῷ καί γε αὐτὸς ἐτέχθη τῷ Ραφα
Quartum bellum fuit in Geth : in quo vir fuit excelsus, qui senos in manibus pedibusque habebat digitos, id est, viginti quatuor : et erat de origine Arapha.
ወኮነ፡ ዓዲ፡ ፀብእ፡ ውስተ፡ ጌት፡ ወሀሎ፡ ብእሲ፡ ዘእምነ፡ ራማ፡ ወብእሲሁ፡ መዴናዊ፡ ወአጻብዐ፡ እደዊሁ፡ ወአጻብዐ፡ እገሪሁ፡ በበ፡ ስሱ፡ ፳ወ፬ኵሉ፡ ኍልቁ፡ ወውአቱኒ፡ ውስተ፡ ነገደ፡ ራፋ፡ ተወልደ።
There was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on every hand and six toes on every foot, twenty-four in number, and he also was born to the giant.
21:21
וַיְחָרֵ֖ף אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיַּכֵּ֙הוּ֙ יְה֣וֹנָתָ֔ן בֶּן־[שִׁמְעָ֖ה] (שמעי) אֲחִ֥י דָוִֽד׃
καὶ ὠνείδισεν τὸν Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν Ιωναθαν υἱὸς Σεμεϊ ἀδελφοῦ Δαυιδ
Et blasphemavit Israël : percussit autem eum Jonathan filius Samaa fratris David.
ወተዐየሮሙ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ወቀተሎ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወልደ፡ ሴሜይ፡ እኁሁ፡ ለዳዊት።
When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei, David’s brother, killed him.
21:22
אֶת־אַרְבַּ֥עַת אֵ֛לֶּה יֻלְּד֥וּ לְהָרָפָ֖ה בְּגַ֑ת וַיִּפְּל֥וּ בְיַד־דָּוִ֖ד וּבְיַ֥ד עֲבָדָֽיו׃ {פ}
οἱ τέσσαρες οὗτοι ἐτέχθησαν ἀπόγονοι τῶν γιγάντων ἐν Γεθ τῷ Ραφα οἶκος καὶ ἔπεσαν ἐν χειρὶ Δαυιδ καὶ ἐν χειρὶ τῶν δούλων αὐτοῦ
Hi quatuor nati sunt de Arapha in Geth, et ceciderunt in manu David et servorum ejus.
እስመ፡ እሉ፡ ፬እሙንቱ፡ እለ፡ ተወልዱ፡ እምነ፡ ዘመደ፡ እለ፡ ያርብሕ፡ በጌት፡ ውስተ፡ ቤተ፡ ራፋ፡ ወወድቁ፡ በእደ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወበእደ፡ ደቁ።
These four were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
